OMG! This is a great place to eat! I had the pancakes, my boyfriend got the breakfast tacos and my bro in law got the steak omelet with pancakes. If your in Tyler, TX, you must start your day with breakfast from Mama's Restaurant!

Vicki F.

Google
We drive an hour to come to Mama’s restaurant because the food is excellent. I am a creature of habit and so I always get the same dishes and they taste the same every visit which I appreciate very much. Their pricing is affordable which is great for families also. A great meal at a great price makes this restaurant a solid choice. If you find yourself in the Tyler area don’t miss out on this hidden gem.

Google
Great food. Great service. Ok atmosphere. Park in the back. Pictured is the Country Potatoes and Eggs. Delicious!

James W.

Google
We love breakfast here. The portions are generous and the food is tasty. There is always food to take home for a second meal.

Google
This small place has awesome food. We ate Chicken Enchiladas and Guatemala. Sooo delicious. They have 2 types of Salsa...red and tomatillo.

Amy P.

Google
The food wasn't bad and there was plenty of it! I ordered the country potatoes and eggs, my wife had the machaca. We asked for a different type of salsa which she brought out for us. When we got the bill, there was a charge of $2.50. She did not mention an upcharge when we requested it. We feel like she should have mentioned the extra charge up front.

Google
Old dive/cafe place must visit in Tyler for the food was absolutely amazing! There was a bit of wait for the food as everything is made to order but it worth the wait. Kinda of old small place so the tables, chairs and decor is quite of date and not that big. Not much parking in the front but plenty in the back.

Sammi D.

Google
Wonderful food, amazing service, huge menu... I could go on and on about how wonderful this breakfast was. Also, they even had my flavored creamer for my coffee and brought us a pot to the table!!! Oh my goodness, they also have free crosses outside!

Yelp
Friendly, darkly lit place with large meals! Even breakfast! Good size menu. Larger place than it appears! Parking is almost Always difficult. Reasonable prices & I always take food home for later. So...Large portions always served here. Coffee always ready & available to be served.

Yelp
My husband and I had been many times here,as our go to breakfast or brunch spot. We always get pancakes and eggs with a side of rice and refried beans. All the breakfast food we've ordered has always been served fresh and it's very good. The coffee is nice and strong with a selection of creamer. Note: They have a cash price and a regular price for the meals. The service is always excellent and we are treated like friends. Loved our server today as well! A++ for her! Only change I would have is to cook the onions and jalapeño more before adding the eggs to scramble l, but that's something I'm sure they accommodate at time of ordering. As well as the steak omelette needed a bit more flavor to the egg. The steak was tender and delicious however. The pancakes are a bit dry but the taste is good. Large, satisfying meal portions with flavor and a comforting ambiance. We will continue to go back again and again and just ask for a couple of tweaks to be made if possible.

Yelp
This place has really gone downhill. It took nearly ten minutes for a server to come around while her and four other employees were chatting it up by the drink fountain. Another ten minutes go by before we get our coffee, and it's old and lukewarm. All the while it seems like an inconvenience that our server has to do her job. What a terrible attitude. I'm not one to throw shade or complain often, but do better Daniela. Food was decent. Hopefully some improvement comes around.

Yelp
This place looks almost vintage, especially with those windows and booths! Tyler's hole in the wall is popular for brunch that has served my love so well that we had to come back together seating was quite fast ordering as well. Their service was quite fast, but nothing to write home about. The omelette with Bernadaise sauce, and the omelette with steak pieces were well enjoyed. Definitely a place where we can have a quick meal in and out. Mama has also all kinds of art display that are for sale.

Yelp
If I could give 0 stars I would .we drove an hour to get to this establishment. we sat there for about thirty minutes before I had to ask who our waitress was. Then the food got to us cold and the biscuits were so old and dry the crumbled . no flavor. .Only thing. more is don't lie to your customers we asked for sour dough. and they brought us reg white toast. then they wanted to argue with us about the toast . we love sour dough it has a distinct taste . Then they wanted to keep with there attitudes ..You can't tell us it was when obviously it was reg toast . Then the other waitress's seem to spend more time on the phones then they do about the customers. !!!! Just saying it was our first time there ..it will be our last .

Yelp
I ordered the pot roast dinner from Mama's Restaurant and was really let down. The meal came with pot roast, carrots, onions, mashed potatoes, green beans, and mac and cheese--but everything lacked seasoning. The roast was tender but bland, and the sides didn't help; the mashed potatoes tasted like they were instant and the mac and cheese was especially mushy and flavorless. I was expecting hearty, comforting food, but it just didn't deliver. Hoping this was an off day, but I likely won't be ordering again unless the flavor improves.

Julie R.

Yelp
The food was delicious. I got a spinach & mushroom omelet and pancakes. I made 4 meals out of it. Their salsa is yummy. Our waiter was very nice. I'll be back !

Debra D.

Yelp
Had been wanting to try Mama's for some time. My son and I decided to try it at a less busy time of 2 pm. All the patrons were eating breakfast which should have been a sign. Son ordered El Presidente and said it was acceptable and ample but not outstanding. I chose the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes with gravy and green beans. I was sorely disappointed. Chicken fried steak was a frozen patty tasting like Dairy Queen steak fingers. The mashed potatoes which tasted instant were saved by the gravy. The green beans were adequate. Service was fast. Waitress checked on us several times. I will consider breakfast should I try them again. Of course, the restaurants across the street have breakfast all day and decent chicken fried steak. It was a quiet place to eat at the time of day that we went.

Yelp
Always great food with great service. And a value as portions are huge ! Got to try all their Mexican dishes whether breakfast or dinner , they are delicious !

Tammy W.

Yelp
The food and service was excellent. You get a lot for your money. The prices are very reasonable. It's kinda out of the way, but worth it. So glad you can order dinner at breakfast time. It's a cute little restaurant.
google avatar

Steve H.

Yelp
Quality ingredients and well prepared. Today I had the biscuits and eggs combination which comes with sausage (very good), hash browns, and pancakes (excellent). Will be back!!
google avatar

Marcus J.

Yelp
Food was deficiency and service was fast. Great breakfast option for anyone visiting Tyler.
google avatar

DJ W.

Yelp
Food was amazing-- hot and fresh. Service was good, not excellent, but far from bad. Hole in the wall, good breakfast!! Will definitely be back.

Claudia V.

Yelp
The food was fantastic, loved the verde salsa. We had the biscuits and gravy and the quesadillas with rice and beans. The service was ok. I did like that even though it was pretty busy our food came out pretty fast. Would try it again.

David N.

Yelp
Good food and great selection, always enjoyable. The restaurant is consistently good which is not always the case nowadays.
google avatar

Valerie S.

Yelp
Visiting a new town and needed breakfast. This spot had the highest rating 3.9 and I was hungry enough to try. Biscuits and gravy- delicious. The gravy tasted fabulous and I just LOVE you can get one biscuit. The pancakes on the menu showed the pancakes with the blueberry inside the batter. I was delivered a blueberry compost. Too sweet. I slid it off and ate a bit. The cakes were delicious. Maybe you should confirm what you're going to get of you try this spot. Located inside a strip mall. Outside parking. Service was great and our waitress was very attentive.

Jesse M.

Yelp
Mama's Where do I begin? I remember the first time I walked in, so young, innocent and confused. Was I about to eat breakfast food? Or Mexican food? Young naive Jesse had no idea that these 2 social constructs could be so effortlessly merged to create something beautiful. Mexican breakfast food. Get ready to gorge yourself or have plenty of leftovers as you order the Mexicana omelet that has refried beans , peppers, a sauce and a flank steak on the top, not to mention a side of pancakes and chips and salsa. Mama's feels like the culturally diverse home you were never apart of but looking back, you wish you were. Come back to your senses, Come back home, Come to mamas
google avatar

Trevor H.

Yelp
Bountiful in portions and pleaseantries. Mama's coffee is great. If you have good coffee you have my business, nothing's worse than a nice breakfast with bland coffee to wash it down. Staff is very nice (hence the pleasantries) Pretty stripped down environment but there is lots of space, and there is what I assume to be local artwork all over (for sale) Nice old building with character.
google avatar

Anthony V.

Yelp
Breakfast was unbelievable. Service was a little slow, but they were busy that morning for bunch. Its an old building.
google avatar

Hannah G.

Yelp
The food service and the atmosphere were amazing! We will definitely be visiting here again and you get so much food for the price you pay. Loved it!!
google avatar

Susan M.

Yelp
Although the restaurant was clean and quiet, and the service was excellent, the food was bland and tasteless. Our server was prompt and attentive, but good service does not trump truly lackadaisical food. The barabcoa was not what I expected...more along the lines of a dry roast with gravy than true Mexican barabcoa. My husband had a three enchilada plate with rice and beans that was honestly the worst example of Mexican food I've ever tasted. Save your money.... Go to Manny's on Fifth and for breakfast, why take the chance? Go to Happy's across the street.

Craig B.

Yelp
Had a great breakfast machca was excellent and wife's breakfast was cooked perfectly a very rare accomplishment great service

Yelp
Top 3 breakfast places in ALL of Tyler & East Texas. Good pricing, great good, and consistently outstanding service. Best things: Migas - THE best in town. Get it with beans and hashbrowns for an absolutely perfect combo. Machacha - Another fabulous creation unique to Mama's. Eat this you'll taste buds will be dancing their machachas off! El Mexicano Omelette- unique to here and one of the best things on the menu. There is something fantastic about beans in an omelette. Simple, but brilliant. Get coffee & they leave a carafe on the table for your own refills. Why doesn't everywhere do this? 2 locations - this one & Broadway. Both are good. This one is better.

Joanie T.

Yelp
Went for the much raved about enchiladas. Don't do it!between 2 of us we tried all 3 kinds. Cheese was a hard block of cheddar, beef plain ground beef, chicken did have large chunks of chicken. Very bland tasteless filling & sauces covering. HOWEVER, the hot sauce was spicy & amazing!! If you go for breakfast, ask for their hot sauce instead of picante!! Nice folks though.
google avatar

Melissa T.

Yelp
We love going to Mama's on Friday mornings after a doctor appointment. Mary is the most amazing waitress she will know you by name if you visit a time or two .
google avatar

Noel S.

Yelp
This is one of the best mexican restaurants I have been too. Authentic, great tasting, and great service. I loved the the restaurant itself, but the service and the food are what make it amazing. The enchiladas are to die for as well as the pancakes. If you haven't eaten here yet, you should.

Charlie G.

Yelp
Good service and Good food. Will go again God Willing Soon! The pork chops were delicious

Tim B.

Yelp
Mama's is great!!! Every time I ask my grandkids where they want to go to eat, my grandson Eli always says Mamas . I have had burgers, sandwiches, and other meals that were quite delicious. My very favorite though is breakfast. I love their fluffy pancakes and wonderful waffles. I love their sausage patty and crispy bacon. My favorite is the cheesy potatoes. A "must have" get it on any breakfast adventure. Love the family owned business and atmosphere. Love supporting local business. Excellent, friendly service. Occasionally we have had magic tricks done at the table by the resident Houdini. We all love this place! I recommend it whenever I get the chance and I bring friends here to try it. Worth a trip.

Yelp
Visiting Tyler. Found this place on Yelp. It's an old building...multi-level. Relatively clean. It's mostly a Mexican food restaurant that serves a big breakfast crowd. Best thing I had were their harvest grain pancakes. They were ever bit as good as the h.
google avatar

Shanna B.

Yelp
Very slow service. Food was not hot. Although service was slow, the waitress was nice. There just didn't seem to be any kind of urgency for prompt or fast service. We ordered the 2 egg platter with bacon, hasbrowns and 2 pancakes. The eggs bacon and hashbrowns were barely warm, but the pancakes were very good and hot The building is need of a good cleaning and updating.
google avatar

RK E.

Yelp
Food was outstanding! I can honestly say this is the first place I've ever seen a Hollandaise Omelet on the menu. (Maybe I just don't get around too much ). The restaurant has a nice ambiance and the wait staff is very good. It has an american food menu with several mexican / hispanic items infused into it. All in all a very good experience!
google avatar

Julie B.

Yelp
Large portions, very good mixture of American food and Mexican food so everybody's happy. Eggs Benedict has very good flavoring Chicken fried steak was not the greatest but was decent

T H.

Yelp
No ambiance at all! Just tired of restaurants that charge over price and sitting in a dump!

Pete A.

Yelp
Love their breakfasts. Plenty of good; crisp bacon, nice coffee refilled quickly, and fast service.
google avatar

Lexie C.

Yelp
The food, service and ambience has always been good here. If you don't like mamas restaurant, then I don't know what to tell you, it's good.

Jackie H.

Yelp
Great food and service! The only issue is when we ask if we can sit in a specific place they give us a little pushback
google avatar

Michelle N.

Yelp
Mamas was amazing ! Delicious food ! Our favorite Mexican place here in Tyler . Their pork chops are perfectly cooked , the omelettes are huge !

Maria R.

Yelp
They're food is AMAZING! i really enjoy their barbacoa.Their proportions are a good amount and is worth the money !!

Jayden P.

Yelp
The food is good, and the service is okay. Sometimes the servers are on top of it, sometimes not, it depends on the day. Ambiance is very mom and pop shop, it's cute if you're into that. However don't expect to make call in orders. I have on several occasions tried to call to do a pick up order and they will let the phone ring and send you to voicemail every time, or better yet, they don't even have their phone charged so you can't call at all. I love the food, it's great, but that's about the only great thing about it. The experience I have every time I deal with them is frustrating.

Yelp
Overall was unimpressed by the staff and food. I was visiting town for my grandfather in the hospital and this place is close to the hospital so stopped in to order take out for myself and my grandmother. I asked the hostess for a menu so I didn't have to ask her too many questions (I have food allergies) and she told me even if I did ask shr probably could only help with half. I ordered a hamburger and a taco salad. After waiting a little over 20 minutes the food and drinks were ready. No plasticware was in the bag so I asked for some and she took a couple minutes more to go get it. Now there was a line of people waiting to be seated and pay for their meals. One guy in line wished me luck which I took as this is a common thing. Took the food back to the hospital and we were really disappointed. The taco salad came without dressing and was in a really greasey taco bowl. My grandmother's burger had diced up tomatoes and onions which kinda went all over because the buns were really moist from the veggies but the burger was way overcooked.

Yelp
My daughter and I came here for breakfast on Saturday morning around 10:30 am and the place was jam packed. There was no parking in the front and almost no parking available in the back but luckily we found a spot. We walked in to a full waiting area. My first thought to all of this, is that, this is a good sign. Considering how full it was we didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes to get seated. We received an order of complimentary chips and salsa which were really good but it was apparent the chips were not home made. I don't mind if they're not home made if they taste good and this was the case. The salsa I was on the fence about. I don't think it was home made but again if it's good, I'm good. My daughter ordered the biscuits and gravy with sausage and I ordered the Migas breakfast with chorizo and a side of refried beans. Had I known their portions here, I probably would have skipped the beans but I like to slop all my goodies smeared with the beans on my tortilla. Now I'm pretty sure the tortillas are home made and this just makes the meal complete in my opinion. My meal was excellent! It was so much food, I took home leftovers for Sunday morning. My daughter loved her breakfast and I tasted it as well and it was delicious. The biscuits were definitely home made. Considering Tyler doesn't have very many breakfast options, I highly recommend Mama's!
google avatar

Juanell M.

Yelp
I have been to mama's restaurant in Tyler. They would not even write down my order, saying they would remember it. Well, when the food came, it was the completely wrong food, not what I ordered. I was highly pissed off. I swore that I would never go back there again.
google avatar

Ben G.

Yelp
I chose Mama's because of the excellent reviews on Yelp. We were there about 6:30 PM and there was hardly anyone there and that concerned me because it should have been busier. We decided to try it anyway. Good choice! My wife asked the server what was most popular on the Senior menu. He suggested 3-4 items. She then asked between two items so we all chose the one he picked; the pot roast with two sides. Tony, our server was outstanding. He checked on us several times during the meal and seemed sincere with his questions. I had a salad and loaded baked potato. All choices were very ample servings. He earned a good gratuity from us; about 60%. That may sound like a lot but, the total tab was very low.
google avatar

Yelp
Just moved here and wanted to take the fam to somewhere local. Portions are good, food tastes homemade if not made with care. Chicken fried steak breading was good, kids loved their quesadillas. Fajitas were good. Waiter was friendly and attentive. Will be back for sure!

Adam L.

Yelp
Food was absolutely amazing and waitress was terrific and sweet Mary k was a just an amazing person

Yelp
When I have time on the road I love going out for a leisurely breakfast. I can picture myself being retired and meeting a group of curmudgeons every morning for coffee, conversation & exaggeration. This would be a great place to do just that. Casual dinner, friendly service and great breakfast menu. I'm sure the food later in the day is great also. I ordered an extra egg omelette & waved off the pancakes. It was huge, delicious and served freakishly fast. The servers were great and treated strangers like friends. Goya was my server & she was great! Another great experience thanks to my Yelp family!
google avatar

Jennifer P.

Yelp
AMAZING service! Wendy is our favorite server thus far! The food is incredible, they have everything you need but their pancakes is the BEST!
google avatar

Tammy M.

Yelp
I stopped by for breakfast. I was greeted by a very friendly waitress and seated. I was so happy to see a menu with several delicious options for breakfast. They have crepes, waffles, pancakes, etc. Looks like lunch & dinner is Mexican Food. My eggs, sour dough toast, hash browns & bacon were very delicious. A great find!
google avatar

Reatha S.

Yelp
I and my family popped in for breakfast while my mom was having heart surgery. I had the eggs Benedict which was very tasty. If you leave this place hungry it's your own dang fault. The servings are very generous. My dad had the Joe's breakfast. He ate every bite. He particularly loved the pancakes. No pics. I was too busy digging in.
