Mama's brings the essence of Middle Eastern comfort with crave-worthy falafel and creamy hummus in a cozy spot that's a local favorite.
"No, the original Mama’s Vegetarian isn’t back, but the same level of flavor and quality is. The Center City shop is still in the same counter-service spot on 20th Street, and the menu is precisely what you’d expect: simple pita sandwiches and gigantic eggplant, latke, hummus, and falafel platters that could easily feed two. Our go-to's are the hard-boiled egg and crispy fried eggplant sabich sandwich and, of course, the not-too-dense, herby falafel. Everything on the menu is under $ 15 and comes with access to an AYCE pickled toppings bar, so you can get a delicious, fantastic-value lunch or dinner for less than your daily commute. photo credit: NICOLE GUGLIELMO photo credit: NICOLE GUGLIELMO photo credit: NICOLE GUGLIELMO photo credit: NICOLE GUGLIELMO photo credit: NICOLE GUGLIELMO" - Candis R. "If you walk by Mama’s between the hours of 12pm and 2pm, you’ll likely see a line down the street. That’s because Mama’s has some of the best vegetarian food in the area. Their falafel sandwich is what they’re best known for, but they also have plates of things like marinated eggplant served with hummus, vegetables, and pita that’s perfect for a quick, filling weekday lunch." - Sydney McElwee
