I went on Saturday as soon as they opened. I read and heard from family members who have went that it gets busy and they can run out, so go early. The staff were incredible. They were very kind and per their recommendation, I tried: the chocolate roll, the chocolate almond croissant, and the fruit jam croissant. All were delicious! They have a lot of options for croissants as well as breads. Each croissant item is between $1-$10, which is very well priced since the pastries are so big and filling. There was plenty of parking (parking lot) in front of the store. The store itself is a nice cafe vibe. There is seating inside and outside. I highly recommend checking this place out! The croissants are DELICIOUS, and I will be going again!

I have a sweet tooth, especially when it comes to quality croissants. We are spoiled by frequent European visits, so we know what good French bakery means. We could not find anything worth mentioning in our suburban area to the north of Philly for quite some time... The only authentic quality place we knew is J'Aime in Center City Philly, where we try to go before matinee Kimmel Center performances. But it's regrettably too far to visit more often... Finally, acquaintances mentioned Mamie Colette in Newtown, which is only 15 minutes away, and we have given it a try. The place has a very good vibe, including an incredibly tempting variety of breads, croissants, and other baked gems. It also has small stalls along the walls, so one can enjoy their baked goods on the spot, accompanied by coffee. We have purchased a couple if regular croissants, an almond one, an apricot pastry, and a loaf if buckwheat bread. I am writing this as I am savoring the bread and croissants. So far everything is top notch and delicious. A great place, highly recommended. But please, do not overcrowd it! I want to get my croissants on a regular basis now 😀

The pastries are always so delicious. Not your typical pastry, not super sweet, just right. They make me feel like I’m back in France, especially with their coffees. Not to mention the lady behind the counter is always so kind and sweet. Took my cousin here when he was visiting from out of state, he loved it too! 😊🫶

Mamie Colette is such a great bakery! The employees are friendly and give great customer service! Now let us talk about the food. I have bought a spinach croissant twice and both times they were so good! It was flaky, crispy, cheesy and a good amount of spinach. I also made a breakfast sandwich with the regular croissant and it was so good and the croissant helped upgrade the taste! Wonderful authentic French Pâtisserie in the heart of Newtown Pennsylvania Bucks County. Perfect Croissants 🥐, Pain au Chocolate, Baguettes, traditionale oui perfect. Met the owner and creator of these amazing delights got to converse in French with her ~ what a delight! As in most French patisseries you Must visit early to take advantage of a good selection. Made fresh daily ~ When they are gone, they’re gone.

Based solely on the written review of Yelp Legend Gerald S, we made our first visit to Mamie Colette this morning. We purchased a smorgasbord of croissants to sample, and they compared favorably with those we had enjoyed in Paris and exceed the most excellent quality of croissants from the J'aime and Jean George's bakeries (both of which also are managed by French ex-pats) in Philadelphia. Sadly, I have no compelling photos to upload because all that remains is crumbs from our little excursion. BYW, the opportunity to inhale butter-perfumed air is reason enough to stop in. Distinguishing a Mamie C croissant from 99% of others is the beautifully laminated exterior overlaying gorgeous, separately identifiable, buttery layers. Unlike most croissants, Mamie C's don't collapse into a pancake when you bite into them. They bounce back, as they should.

So happy to have finally found somewhere to get real croissant and true sourdough. Today we got plain croissant, ham and cheese croissant, cheese and berry danish and bread. 10 out of 10 for everything! Will absolutely go back and recommend!

I'm not sure why I waited so long to drop a review for this hidden gem in Bucks County! Hands down the best croissants I have ever had. The chef behind the glass wall actually studied from France, and you can physically see the amount of love she puts into making the pastries. The place itself is kind of small, they have some seats outside, and a typical coffee shop display shelf with all of their pastries to choose from. The employees are all so friendly and knowledgeable. I have come here several times and never had a bad experience. If you want to check this place out then try to come earlier in the day. They run out fast! My go to is the chocolate almond croissant. It's flaky from the outside and soft from the middle, and pairs so nicely with a latte. The close runner up is the Nutella croissant! Please do your taste buds a favor and check this place out :)

Last Sunday I thought I was sitting in the spring sunshine outside a cafe in Paris ! The butter croissant and cafe au lait were just as I remember in France. The crisp outside crust and the pillow soft interior of the perfect butter croissant which needed no other enhancement ! It was just hard not to tuck into the ones I bought to take home. On a previous visit tried the pain au cranberry- the tart cranberry against the buttery pastry was also wonderful. The staff were friendly and accommodating. It will be hard not to make this a weekly Sunday Treat. Just time it carefully as they may sell out.

Wanted to pick up some pastries for my mom in law's chemo nurses and googled bakeries near the hospital. It's a newer bakery so not too many yelp reviews yet but guys if you love French pastries, go! These are some of the best croissants I have ever had. I have been twice now. Service is great, prices are a bit high but you get what you pay for. I've tried many of their items and have enjoyed all of them so far. I'm writing this now and plan on going again after this next appointment lol.

What everyone is saying about Mamie Colette is true. It is the closest patisserie for incredible croissants this side of the 16th arrondissement en Paris. Buttery, flaky, beautifully browned, soft within a delicate firm shell, these troubadours of apex French gourmandise are truly exceptional. Even the long queue early in the morning is reminiscent of the shops along any residential street in a French village. The space is a little hard to find in the rear of the building that also houses the new state store (booze house) just off South State Street in Newtown Borough and about 200 feet from my office (lucky me!) But, it is worth the effort to locate and soak in the lovely quasi-continental atmosphere. This is a work of passion for the women owners. They are well trained and want to share their love of French baking with the world. They are very friendly and look to engage warmly with all customers. Prices reflect the new post Covid economic realities and are not cheap at $4 for a plain croissant and more for ham, spinach or chocolate filling. We can all hope that they have a large following that keeps them in business for many years, and permits them the opportunity to expand their offerings to more creativity and marketable wares. I would love to buy baguettes for sandwiches and sliced Demis for dinner accompaniment. Those classics aren't yet available at Mamie C's, but word around the oven is that they are coming. Now, if they also make those sandwiches with quality meats and cheeses, I will be walking over for lunch almost every day. Bon chance, mes soeurs!

I was gifted 2 heavenly croissants (Nutella and chocolate) from Mamie Colette's and they were definitely what they were described to be like ... buttery, rich, fluffy, just the right amount of softness inside and flaky buttery goodness on the outside with enough Nutella and chocolate to add to each savory bite. A joy and reminder of eating croissants in France because Mamies is the real French deal. You should not miss this place if you are in town.

I came across this place when I was looking for more unique bakeries in the Bucks County area. I'd definitely call myself a croissant enthusiast; there are few croissants that catch my attention amongst the many I've tried. Most customers speak highly of there croissants here, which seem to be the main craft of this bakery. I stopped in on a weekend afternoon around 1PM. There weren't a ton of croissants left, but you can't expect any differently if you come after the weekend morning rush. I wasn't too worried, as the bakery markets itself more about quality than variety quantity. I noticed that the bakery also had a good-sized beverage menu as well as some nice seating in the cafe. The employee behind the counter was very friendly and offered help as soon as I came in. She answered a few questions I had regarding croissant flavors. After taking a minute to look, I decided to go for the Pain Au Choclat (chocolate croissant) and Fruit Jam Croissant, which contained apple filling. The type of fruit jam varies depending on the day. The employee rang up my order, which came to about $5 per pastry. I thought this was a bit pricey, even for a small business. However, I anticipated the price point would account for the high quality of these pastries. I tried both croissants shortly after purchasing them. For reference, an ideal croissant has enough flakiness, that it doesn't require roasting. The quality was good, but honestly not the best I've had. They definitely tasted fresh, but the flaky layers weren't anything special to me. I ended up roasting them to get the texture of my liking. Overall, I really like the idea and story of this place. I also enjoy the simplicity of the menu that markets quality over quantity of flavor varieties. I'm more than willing to pay a higher price to support smaller businesses, but the product didn't quite justify the cost for me. I'd say this spot is a good option for people not wanting to go far from Bucks County area, since it's really the only one of its type.

Happened to make the trek to this place from New Jersey. Had a plain and a pain o chocolat. The plain was the winner. Had a nice crunch, buttery flavor and yet flaky inside. The chocolate one was good. Chocolate was melted while the not hot or even warm. So, nice trick there. The outer shell could be a bit more crisp to get a nice crunch. The place is a little pricy side comparably but probably due to recent popularity. 4 bucks for a plan and 5 for the chocolate. Service was nice and attentive but not pushy. The ambiance was modern and inviting. Seating outside. People didn't seem to be getting the coffee there.

Unbelievable. I have never been to Paris but I am guessing this is the closest I will get. So much pride in their craftsmanship. Absolutely the best.

Simply AMAZING! The Best, fresh, made before your eyes, beautiful, delicious, elegant, croissants EVER!!!! Unlike other businesses in newtown that simply sell food items made by other bakeries out of state, Mamie Colette puts her love into each and every croissant made.

Mamie Colette just opened up in newtown a few days ago! I just found out yesterday and had to stop by ASAP to check it out. Upon entrance, there was a pretty long line and you could smell the delectable goodies. There was an abundance of croissants.. ranging from your classic croissant to Nutella, ham and cheese, and even almond croissants. We picked up a few different options! Nutella, ham and cheese, almond, and spinach and cheese. The outside was flakey and sweet, while the inside was soft and melted in your mouth. I highly recommend putting the savory ones in the air fryer for a few minutes and enjoying it warm. Extremely delicious and highly recommend to stop by at least once! They're a little pricier (~$5-6 per croissant) but they definitely are delicious :)

We came to try their croissants.It is definitely expensive but delicious. The croissants were label incorrectly behind the case. The cranberry and chocolate were mislabeled which I ordered more chocolate and got more cranberry instead. We wanted to try the ham and cheese and they were sold at when we arrived at 8:30am. Wow. We will go back to try that soon and will definitely check to make sure we receive the correct items.

On a recommendation I drove to Newtown to check out the newer bakery. Its space is largely dedicated to baking, making the dining lobby on the smaller side, with a counter for those who wish to eat on the spot. I went for the main show, croissant, and wound up taking home a large assortment of baked goodies. The owner, a woman who named the bakery in honor of her Grandmother, Colette, came out and warmly greeted everyone in the shop, knowing several by name. The helpers at the counter were very helpful and polite ("yes, ma'm"... haven't heard that in an age!) Pastries were very nice. So nice that I didn't actually get the chance to take a photo because my family absolutely demolished them!

These are the absolute best ! It's Newtown's best kept secret ( that's not a secret) . They're so good . Someone said they have an " annoying " policy that you can only get 6 , well I'm glad they do because they're all small batch homemade and this way someone can't come in and buy them all . You can preorder if you need a bunch for an occasion . Just be warned , they're addictive.

Really great food! The two times I've gone I got the cranberry croissant which is fantastic and I've had the spinach and cheese which was great as well. Super friendly! The coffee was okay but really just go for the croissants.

Too good!! Délicieux en fait. Honestly, without hyperbole, Mamie Colette's croissants are as good if not better than I've had in Paris. So buttery yet light, delectable. Absolutely delicious. The pain au chocolat are exceptional, too, if you want to sate your chocolate craving. Speaking of satiating, they have some savory options, too, croissants with spinach for vegetarians or ham for the omnivores among us. Finally, I'm a coffee aficionado, and absolutely loved their café. They have an impressive coffee press. The women who work here are super kind and the owner has such a charming, warm welcoming smile! They're both French, too!

Absolutely worth the drive from the city out to Newtown. My fiancé, who is the expert on eating things made with gluten in our household, has declared Mamie Colette to have the best most buttery and flakey croissants he has ever tasted. The pain au chocolat has the perfect amount of chocolate, just like in France, and it's not too sweet. The cafe is bright and sunny and has nice seating indoors and outdoors. The entrance is on the rear side of the building, and there is plenty of parking.

Finally a place to get the real deal! Slowly making my way through them all. Plain, almond, apricot, cheese, and chocolat are all phenomenal. Flaky, buttery, decadent without being overly sweet. The staff are all so nice and the owner will come out to chat with guests when you don't see her baking, which makes it really feel like you are in Europe. Get there early!! My first trip on a Thursday at 9am they already sold out of the almond!

The real deal. Fantastic, on site baked top notch European pastries like Pain au Chocolat and croissants. I am over the top thrilled to have this kind of quality right here in very close proximity to Washington Crossing area!!

These croissants are amazing. Tried a few and all were great. If you can't make it to Paris for a croissant; you can come here(early because they sell out fast) to get one. Can't wait to try more. A welcome patisserie to Newtown!!

Perfection. It is rare to find a bakery that does things the traditional way and understands the value of following generations of knowledge. The high-quality of ingredients used here have a true impact on the croissants that are served. Chef Magali clearly respects the time-intensive technique needed to produce the perfect croissant. There's clearly love and joy wrapped up into each croissant We are so blessed to have this secret tucked away close enough to indulge and enjoy regularly.

Delicious croissants!!! Did a tasting of a few different kinds and they were phenomenal. Only downfall was the lack of seating inside and coffee options.

Croissants were tasteless. Service was brusque and unfriendly. They run out of stock on weekends early in the morning and indifferently turn customers away.

There is no question that they have the best croissants. I love the bakery. It's worth getting up for them. But they have a new annoying policy. It doesn't matter if you get there very early, they will only sell you 6 croissants per person. I had 10 morning guests that I promised fresh croissants and I came back to my home with only 6 croissants. I supplemented with a dozen donuts from elsewhere. They do not take orders ahead of time. So the only way to get more than 6 croissants, you have to bring friends and family with you and each of you make a purchase. This policy really turns me off.
