I stumbled upon Mamie Colette by happy accident while exploring Montmartre. All the nearby bistros were packed, and I was hoping to find a quiet spot away from the crowd—and this tiny, unassuming place was just what I needed.
At first glance, it was simple and homey. Service was a little slow, but understandably so—there was only one person attending to everyone (but she was really nice!). What the place lacked in speed, though, it more than made up for in food quality and charm.
While waiting, I was served soft, warm bread—such a comforting start. I ordered the set menu, which let me choose my appetizer, main, and dessert. The foie gras terrine was rich and flavorful, followed by a hearty dish of Toulouse sausage cooked in duck fat with cheesy mashed potatoes that felt like a warm hug. For dessert, the chocolate mousse was pure indulgence—simple, yet deeply satisfying.
By the time I left, a line had formed and tables outside were filling up. It turns out this cozy spot is well-loved by locals and lucky wanderers like me. Definitely worth a visit if you want an authentic, slow-paced French meal in Montmartre.
