"When in Hapeville, pop by Mami’s La Cubana to grab a cubano or medianoche on fresh Cuban bread with a side of tostones, croquettes, or an empanada. Mami’s also serves tamales and platters, featuring mojo pork, fried tilapia, or shredded chicken, peppers, and onions, which come with sides of rice, beans, Cuban bread, sweet plantains, and a salad." - Beth McKibben, Eater Staff

"Serving a menu of Cuban sandwiches, empanadas, tamales, and plates of mojo pork and fried tilapia with rice and beans, Mami’s La Cubana is a popular stop for a quick, but hearty bite in Hapeville, especially for the Delta crowd. Head here for weekday lunch specials starting at 11 a.m., including ropa vieja (shredded flank steak) on Mondays, carne con papas (beef and potatoes) on Wednesdays, and chicken fricassee on Fridays." - Beth McKibben, Caroline Eubanks

"A pocket-sized restaurant on a happening block in Hapeville, the family-owned Mami’s is humble, efficient, and inexpensive. In true Cuban form, the owner will tell you where to sit, what to order, and if you’re not fast enough, will move on to the next table before you can finish your sentence. This place is cramped and chaotic, but one quick visit will have diners hooked. Stop in on your way to or from the airport and get there before the lunch crowd. Pair a heaping plate of rice, beans, and tostones with an Ironbeer, Cuba’s official soda, which originated over 100 years ago. Mami’s is closed on weekends." - Allison Ramirez

Google
Wonderfully pleasant experience. The food is worth the wait! Made to order and such a delight! Seating is available but limited. But let me tell you about one of the best sandwiches!! The bread was perfect. The pork was juicy and it all tasted amazing. I took my order to go, but can’t wait to visit again for a coffee!

Google
Boy oh boy is this place something. The Cuban lady running the show is quite the character. I was very impressed with the food, it is delicious! This place is definitely a hole in the wall but it is definitely worth checking out. I also would recommend the Cuban coffee! Overall, this place rocks and I’ll definitely be returning!

Google
Authentic is what I like. This place, I love it cause it’s definitely an authentic experience. Food was out fast, it was great and they are very attentive. Not a big establishment but they have a big heart.

Google
Busy when you go for lunch but they take care of you. It’s best to not stay super long to respect other customers trying to get sat for their lunch.

Google
Babae!!!! This was good! I took a gamble and won! I went on a Friday and the lunch special was the Chicken Fricasse. Everything was hot and seasoned well. It came with rice, black beans, fried plantain, bread, and a mini salad for $10! Well worth it! The lady at the front was super nice. It’s a little hole in the wall so expect the little things that comes with that but the food and service delivered!

Wow! This restaurant is good! The woman who runs this place makes sure that things are done right! My husband ordered the Jerk Chicken Sandwich (Photo 1), I ordered the Jerk Chicken Wrap (Photo 2) and we both got the fries. Everything was beyond delicious! We brought a Chicken Sandwich to our friend and he said, "This is THE best sandwich I have every had!" Servings are beyond generous, spice is just right and the chicken was tender and delicious. Next time we will order in advance as there was a wait for those of us who ordered at the counter. Our patience paid off as the food was perfection!

Google
I had authentic Cuban sandwich before and this Cuban sandwich isn’t it. They serve Cuban sandwich with pulled pork and cheese. No ham no pickles. No Swiss cheese. The texture was like vomit between 2 piece of bread. Price online is listed less than what she charges in person. Makes no sense. Would not go here again.

Yelp
Love it. Prices are so good, the food is everything you'd want it to be. I'm in from out of town and it made me feel like I was right back home in the neighborhoods I grew up in. I'll probably order from there several more times while I'm still here.

Steven R.

Yelp
The Cuban sandwich was a solid 8/10; the fries were ok and the India Malta was a good recommendation from the owner. But I will definitely be back for another sandwich!

Michael W.

Yelp
Great spot for good Cuban food , I love the lunch specials and they have them daily and I truly enjoyed mine on that Thursday. I also see they have cafe "High Octane Coffee " . I also enjoyed the service here it has a family feel to it . Ambiance can be upgraded but it reminds me of a mom and pops so I can dig it . It seems to be one of the places everyone in the area knows about and I'm glad I do as well .

Kelaiah R.

Yelp
The food is Amazing, authentic flavor and treat you like family. Love the daily lunch specials here

Vena F.

Yelp
Attempted to place a very generous order. The phone went unanswered for days. Disappointing.

George W.

Yelp
I loveeee this place. So friendly, food is excellent. Go here rather for a quick lunch or sit down, if they can accommodate you in the their compact space. You wont be disappointed.

Dee P.

Yelp
First things first, I would give them 5 stars, but they are closed on the weekends - which is such a bummer because I live not too far from them. With Hapeville growing, it's such a missed opportunity. Food is perfection. Customer service is straightforward - you come in, you order, pay, and wait for your food. It's independently owned so be mindful of that when you complain about customer service and blah blah blah. If you're entitled, don't come here. During the week, lots of Delta and Porsche employees pack the place during the lunch rush, so there could be a wait - the place is intimate and can get smokey during that time. I've ordered outside the lunch hour and they can be pretty quick. I love the empanadas - fresh, hot, and full of flavour. Cubanos - delicious. Every daily lunch special - take my money. Parking - street parking everywhere in Hapeville.

Yelp
The shrimp was tasty! Yellow rice was also good as well as the plantains. It is a very small- mom & pop like restaurant. I have to be honest .. i would assume she was the owner but she was not friendly at alllll nor did she come to check on me after serving. She was very much so giving standoffish & that's not a good thing if you'd like people to come back & feel welcomed. Definitely didn't feel that & would not return.

Jane Y.

Yelp
Customer service is lacking and it was one lady serving the entire restaurant and takeout orders. Anyways, I got a cubano to go and it was full of flavor. Rice and beans were solid.

DM S.

Yelp
The food is pretty solid. Nothing to hate. Nothing to love in my opinion. If you have the taste for Cuban fare and in the area, I'd give them a try. My only complaint is the manager/owner? was dishonest about her menu prices because she didn't have change. She didn't want me to use my credit card because the total was under $10, but she lied and rounded $3.25 up to $4.00 for some yuca fries because she didn't have change. Kinda left a bad taste in my mouth.

Karin H.

Yelp
Yummy, big portions and very tasty! The service was great. The bathroom should be cleaned and freshened up. Mami's is an authentic Cuban lunch spot.

Cassidy C.

Yelp
Service and ambiance was cool. I had this chicken chunk dish that I do NOT recommend. In all fairness I came in just before close but the chunks are chicken breasts and it was so dry I couldn't eat it. Everything else was A1, I would give them another try but I wld not order and chicken chunk dishes.

Arlo A.

Yelp
I first judge a Cuban Restaurant by its sandwich and this sandwich was amazing. The flavors were all there. I only wished I had eaten it slower.

Ashley F.

Yelp
Today's review is purely about customer service- because the food was delicious as always. We came today with my 2 year old nephew who was less than well behaved. The waitress (who's name I should know) went above and beyond to try to help entertain him and calm him down.

Chan F.

Yelp
All smiles! In a crunch and desperate to stay out of traffic, I called the restaurant and asked if I could put in a large order for empanadas. I happened to call on a day when the owners were closing early, and was told I could pick up no later than 5:30! Yikes, "I don't get off of work until 5:00pm", I told them. She apologized and I hung up to make other inquiries. But after reading the reviews and looking at pictures I thought I'd say a prayer for traffic to halt for me, and called back to place my order. I was assured that with advanced payment, all empanadas would be made fresh, and they would wait for me to pick it up...so long as I didn't come past 6pm. I'm super happy I decided to give Mami's a try. There are plenty other latin American and Hispanic restaurants, but Cuban food speaks to my soul. I knew it was goin to be a delicious experience when I saw the sheriff deputy sitting at a table eating the rice and beans like it was his lady meal. Once I got home I opened one of my large pans, and my nose was delighted with the fresh scent of pastry and spices. I tested one out (they are for a party) and immediately started dancing around the kitchen. I have had an empanada like this since I lived in the Bronx. My daughter was even impressed, and she doesn't like turnovers. Please if you're in the area, stop by and grab a bite. The airport isn't too far, and if you're on your way out of town, grab something to remember the flavors of Atlanta. Chef's kiss 10/10.

Yelp
Let me tell you something about Mami's La Cubana - THIS PLACE NEVER EVER DISAPPOINTSSSSSSSS!! My husband introduced his restaurant to me because he used to work in the area. And it was to go so I had never step foot into the establishment. I was going to the airport and passed it one day and decided to give it a try again. This time I was with a bunch of people and we were able to sit down and grab some food. My cousin and I decided that this was going to be our Cuban restaurant and whenever we get the urge or the craving, this is where we go. It is such a family, home feel and you know the food is made with love. This is the best place to get a Cuban in the area. The Cuban meals are also fantastic. The fried pork chunks are to die for and are super crispy and not too salty but extremely flavorful even after the meat is gone your mouth feels wonderful. This is the best Cuban food I have had in Georgia hands-down! I will be back in even though there are hours on their website and probably on yelp they were close whenever they feel like it lol

Price K.

Yelp
I don't say this often, but STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND EAT HERE!!!! I was accidentally turned on to this restaurant during a catered lunch event at work. I had one cubano and was HOOKED! The flavor... the experience... the family... wow. After I ate here once I decided to have them cater a huge event for my husband. I showed up and was greeted with graciousness and kindness. They worked to ensure that I ordered exactly what I needed for my event. When we picked up they went out of their way to ensure that we had what we needed in the way we needed it. Everything tasted heavenly and we have recommended them to so many peers! We will be back as often as my waistline allows!!

Sharita C.

Yelp
I stopped by for lunch on a Tuesday after 2. I wanted to try the fried baked chicken but it was sold out. The Tia that served me said you have to get there early because they sale out fast. So I ordered 3 empanadas, 2 beef one guava, 2 mashed potato balls, a Cuban sandwich, the pork one and rice and beans. The Cuban was mmmm , mmmm, goooood!!! The rice and beans, beef empanadas were ok, the guava was aight. I didn't like the mash potato balls at all. The inside is small but plenty of seating, remember to get there early because they do sale out of items.

Brandon C.

Yelp
My coworker asked for no mustard and she said "go get the belt". 5/5 will definitely be back.

Carson E.

Yelp
The owner is an absolute legend! The food is almost as good as the lady herself. Can't miss if you're in Atlanta! Fantastic service and food! The only complaint is mustard on the jerk chicken sandwich, but it's a running joke between us now.

Zachary D.

Yelp
I love this place. It's the quintessential "hole in the wall gem" food is really cheap but tastes great.

Nasr B.

Yelp
I wish I took a picture of my food before leaving this review. I don't like to leave review unless it's really bad or really deserved. This spot was ran by the owner (small mom and pop) and everything was hot and fresh. I'm definitely going to favorite this place. I can't say enough things good. I got the shredded beef (first entree on menu) and it came out not even 5 mins later with good service. The ambiance is what you get from a small place. But please believe the food is good, fresh, and great portion. Glad I stopped and tried something new. Will be coming back as a regular.

BlaqueWoman S.

Yelp
Fluked up on this spot, trying a nail salon in the area, spot small authentic food was absolutely the bomb! ( hella good ) large serving of the Friday special ( chicken fricasse) , had to get me cafecito this is a go to!

Roland C.

Yelp
Stopped by and placed a togo order. The restaurant smelled great. Our food was ready pretty quick. Everything was seasoned well! Really enjoyed the fried baked chicken, and the Cuban sandwich. It's a very small place, but it is worth the trip. If you're ever in Hapeville, stop through.

Key B.

Yelp
My favorite spot. Food is delicious and the service is amazing. Try everything on the menu your belly will happy

Ivan V.

Yelp
Food was very tasty and flavorful, I recommend the Ropa Vieja and Empanadas! Staff were very nice and attentive to me. The place is small with about 6-7 tables but pickup is an option with calling as it can get full quick. They went the extra mile when I left my receipt at the store and they sent it to me by phone. Thank you again!

Andrew K.

Yelp
First time here definitely won't be the last. The Plato de Pollo was perfection. I love the rice and beans, and there just wasn't enough of the buttered bread. My only tiny complaint is that the platanos were not sweet enough for me. Part of me is excited, and can't wait to go back so I can try some of the other menu items, but the other part of me is really wanting some more of what I just had. I can only do one at a time. So, whattodo whattodo? Might have to have someone meet me there so we can share dishes .

Kiya S.

Yelp
I randomly stopped by here while in the area and it DIDNT disappoint! The food is so flavorful and pick up was a breeze. I went in and ordered my food and it was ready within the same minute. Piping hot and fresh! Will definitely be back!

Anthony L.

Yelp
I flew up here from miami wanting cuban food so I saw the good reviews.I walked in and realized I was the only one there.I saw this heavy lady on the phone and she looked me saying what did I want I asked if they had crema de malanga and nasty replied Have your wife make it and went back to her phonecall. I left and tried not to insult this gringa!!

Dusty N.

Yelp
Food sub par. The lady basically forced me to tip for the people in the kitchen. I ordered takeout...

Kristi C.

Yelp
Date: 10/1/19 6pm ish PARKING: The restaurant is located on the Central Ave in Hapeville so you can use street parking. We actually had no issue finding a spot. SEATING: You can dine in or enjoy the outside. They also have a table with barstool at the front window, so you can enjoy your food while people watching. Whatever you preference, they can accommodate! Talk of the town is that this Cuban spot is great so we had to try! Upon entering, we were greeted by the owner. She was very nice and welcomed us with open arms. She did explain the menu as we told her we were new customers. FOOD: We started out by trying the Empanadas (3) 2 Chicken and 1 Beef. ($4.75) - WE LOVED THEM. They came out fresh and piping hot. I've had empanadas before and never have they come out hot like this! Next I ordered the Plato de Pollo (Shredded Chicken with Peppers) that comes with rice and beans, cuban bread, salad, and sweet plantains. - LOVED IT! It was seasoned so well! Now lets talk abut the plantains. - DELICIOUS. They were perfectly made...sweet and crispy, not too hard or too mushy. Definitely a YUMMY treat!! The whole plate was devoured.($11.50) My man had the Pollo Encebollado (Grilled Chicken and onions). ($9.25) I tasted his because it came out looking so appetizing, and it was delicious. The chicken was moist and grilled perfectly. I will be ordering this next time. He devoured it as well. I did indulge in a Cuban Coffee ($1.75). It was good but I found out the hard way Cuban coffee is strong. I really appreciate a restaurant that brings out hot food and it is presented well. I can just taste those plantains now....This place is great and I will be back for a Cuban Sandwich!!

K C.

Yelp
They didn't change their hours to the correct closing time and wouldn't allow me to order even though it says they're open

Norman P.

Yelp
I love this little spot. The best Cuban food I've had since I moved to Atlanta. The food reminds me of when I visited Cuba. The only thing missing is someone rolling cigars in the corner.

Ravi B.

Yelp
The food here is so good! I was exploring Downtown Hapeville in Hapeville, GA and I found this place. There is dine-in and a to-go side that are separated by two different buildings. If you want to dine-in you go to the left side and if you have a togo order you go to the right side. I think the kitchen itself is on the right side, but it could be in between both in the back. The server and everyone who worked there is super friendly and the food is authentic and amazing. It came out fresh and hit the spot! They have a good variety of things. I went for lunch and their lunch menu has good prices! I would come back here to try some other dishes since I was craving a Cuban sandwich today.

Dominique T.

Yelp
The food here is amazing especially the roast pork it's so flavorful and juicy definitely recommend

Ken C.

Yelp
Food is great, only thing I don't get is why you can add lettuce to your Cuban sandwich when they actually do have lettuce. Also you can add lettuce to a chicken sandwich but not a Cuban... weird. Also I don't like that they make u wait outside for your food. I can understand if it's packed inside, but it's nobody here right now and they asked me to step outside into the hot sun. Ughh service trumps good food when food is not good. Love this place honestly but some stuff is just dumb. ‍

Robert D.

Yelp
Mami's is the best hole in the wall place in town. Great owner active with the customers and the best Cuban food around. The passion of what they do comes through in the taste! I have been several times and it is always amazing.

Omar E.

Yelp
I was greeted as soon as i walked in. Ordered a Cuban sandwich as it was recommended to me by a friend. The service was friendly and the food came out fast. On to the Cuban sandwich. It's was one of the best I've ever had. The bread was buttered and had a nice crunch, the pork was tender and flavorful and the sandwich held together really well. They also added a lot of the pulled pork to the sandwich, which was great.

Scott A.

Yelp
Had the Ropa Vieja. The rice was bland, salad had no dressing. Bread was stale. The meat was okay but nothing exciting. The one waitress is amazing. Not sure how she does it all but she is fast and kind. The prices on menu are wrong

Nathan I.

Yelp
I tried the Tuesday special, pork with mojo sauce. Mami's is an outstanding. Other in our party got the sandwiches and everyone walked away happy. I'll definitely be back here again when I'm in the area.

Danielle W.

Yelp
I had the pleasure of experiencing Mami's and it was good. I will be back. The fish was fried just right. It had crisp (but not too hard) edges and a moist flesh. You could cut the steak with the plastic knife. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the empanadas and they didn't need any sauce. And the coffee had a good kick. Now let's talk about the simplest garlic and oil dip/sauce. I love to cook and believe the simplest ingredients can make anything come alive ... and the garlic oil did that today. A little goes a long way. I had it on my fish and a little extra on my bread. Everything was good and Mami and Cathleen (my apologies if I got her name wrong) were welcoming and pleasant. Check them out. Support a local spot with a great vibe.

Braulio C.

Yelp
Please update website and hours. Second time In two weeks I have come during posted opened hours and closed on both occasions. I guess this explains why every time I call no one answers.

nora s.

Yelp
Highly Disappointed - First time customer. Tonight we ordered the jerk chicken platter, three chicken empanadas and the pork platter. Jerk chicken was overcooked, bone dry, with no sauce and the black beans were so bland. I think they just forgot the sauce but either way, the chicken was overcooked. Very disappointing. Yellow rice and salad were standard and basic and the empanadas were decent, nothing to write home about. However, my friend enjoyed the pork and plantains. So basically, I didn't eat because I ordered the chicken and don't eat pork. This meal was a waste of $28. I frequent Papi's often and have never been disappointed. Unfortunately, this establishment is no where near its equivalent. I will be calling tomorrow to request full reimbursement or a remake.

Nia G.

Yelp
I love Mami's but they are never open when I can get to them (Saturday) The food is fresh, tasty and plentiful- a great deal for the price. Unfortunately not enough outdoor seating.

Hart P.

Yelp
I have given Mami's top marks all the way along and that continues. Initially Mami's was so popular the dining area was not large enough but they created outdoor dining and leased another dining space next door. This started overworking the staff and now they have hired and trained more servers continuing to provide a great experience of authentic Cuban food. Mami's is a must go for me every week. Recently, Mami's added a roasted chicken plate. Another outstanding option. Enjoy!

Moon S.

Yelp
It's so good, the jerk chicken plate is my favourite. Enough for two. It's a mom & pop with a home feel vibe.

Levon B.

Yelp
Well seasoned food. Large proportions. Reasonably priced. I haven't had anything from the menu that did not taste good. I love this place.

Jerri L.

Yelp
Best Cuban sandwich! I wish you could order online but the phone call and order pick up is always entertaining.

M T.

Yelp
Sorry no pic for this one but I've been here twice and got the Ropa Vieja... DELICIOUS and flavorful! The food came out quick and the staff was nice!
