I've always wanted to try this café, and wow, it was bustling with activity even on a weekday! The service was attentive, and my oat latte was excellent—thank you to the friendly barista! The staff recommended I try the breakfast burrito, and it was hot and delicious. I will definitely be back!

We had an excellent experience at Mammoth Cafe, now one of our regulars. They were swamped for Saturday brunch service but still took the time to make us feel welcomed and regularly checked in to see if we needed anything. The food was delicious and fresh, we had the Chia Bowl, chips and Poke bowl with chicken and tofu - all excellent. Can’t wait to go back again very soon!

While I can’t comment on the food (which does look great), I can comment on their methods regarding hot drinks. They don’t prepare drinks in the order placed, but instead batch them by milk type — the barista even told me so. Meaning, if you order one lactose-free dairy drink, you have to wait until the entire rush of almond/soy/full-cream drinks placed by other customers at any time, no matter the arrival order, has ended before they even touch your order. Because of this, I ended up waiting far longer than I should have, while at least two takeaway customers who ordered after me walked out with their coffees well before me (and who knows how many dine-in orders skipped the line too). When I questioned this ridiculous system, the lady with glasses and red hair told me not to come back — an unprofessional response to a very reasonable frustration. Yes, while my language became colourful criticising the café’s absurd methods of preparing drinks, it was not directed at any staff member. I wasn’t there to cause trouble; I just wanted a quick get-in/get-out takeaway order. I was also polite in my actions while waiting, even going out of my way to hold doors open for staff and delivery drivers. I don’t mind that I was asked not to return, because this place doesn’t deserve your money as they don’t value your time. The bottom line: their method of handling takeaway drinks is completely impractical and shows no respect for customers’ time. If you’re sitting in, fine. But if you’re after a takeaway coffee, don’t waste your time here. A possible improvement would be to reduce the number of milk options offered — if batching by milk type is necessary, fewer options could prevent these absurd delays. Edit to add, after owner's response: My in-person initial enquiry was respectful (my wording was strongly along the lines of: "Excuse me, unless I'm mistaken, I think these two orders that just left were prepared before mine and ordered after mine") then your barista provided the explanation that you batch by milk-type. None of my comments were aimed at any member of staff, they were entirely aimed at your own system which is absolutely bonkers. As I also said in-person, I won't be returning and I also encourage other takeaway coffee-lovers to go elsewhere as batching by milk-type means you don't respect our time.

We have been to this cafe multiple times now for breakfast. The staff are always super lovely and the coffee is great. My favourite dish is their eggs Benedict with amazing potato rösti!! Coupled with real ham hock, shredded apple and some pomegranate seeds, this dish is a firm favourite for me. Highly recommend.

Unbelievable food and coffee (I had the avo smash), a warm and welcoming environment, and phenomenal staff! The manager, Samuel, really cared about making sure we had a great experience. He took the time to come over to check on us and he gave us menu recommendations when we just couldn't pick! There's a reason it's a Melbourne institution. I highly recommend☕

Google
Great place with lovely staff members smiles all around. As for the food i have mixed feelings how to rate it. For the presentation it was 5star, portion was 2star and very underwhelming ( it s called pulled Ham hock but you have to try to look for a tiny amount of that) the taste was again 3star as the tastiest part was the hash brown potato thing. Over all i m sorry but it did not stack up.

I come here for breakfast (and sometimes lunch) every time I go to work. I've been coming here for years now but with the change in menu, I thought I'd leave a review. I love the atmosphere - it's somewhere I can unwind even when the cafe is busy because the decor and interior design is relaxing and chic, the music is great (the other day they were playing 80's classics which was amazing), and the staff are always so chill and friendly. The food is great, the drinks are nice, and the staff are accommodating and friendly. Overall definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
They've done it again. The team behind Barry, Touchwood and Pillar of Salt have opened yet another power house cafe to add to their collection. True to its name, Mammoth offers a food menu that is packed with a mammoth array of strong, slightly left-field dishes combined with some quality speciality coffee. Perched on a triangular corner in dreamy Armadale, Mammoth boasts a sleek, clean interior with white painted brick walls and light timber furnishings. Touches of light pink and blue add to the relaxing but inviting atmosphere. Unconventional shape aside, the bulk of the bulk of the cafe is a big, open and vibrant space with a slightly raised dining room and the kitchen up a couple of steps. Seating is a mixture of small tables, communal benches and some small tables outside. The food menu. Lobster donut burger, green chilli chicken, lamb spare ribs, spanner crab crepes; this is a menu like no other. It can be largely divided in to some creative takes on the usual breakfast dishes, slightly bigger lunch dishes and a handful of super salads. On this visit I had the lobster donut burger with green mango and papaya slaw, cucumber jam and sriracha kewpie mayo. There are a lot of components there wouldn't usually go together in the same sentence, and it's difficult to imagine how they would. But it works. The soft, tender lobster with a touch of spice from the sriracha mayo and balanced by the creamy mango and papaya slaw and the salt and pepper-dusted bun. Something to be tried at least once. If that left you wanting more, there is a dessert option. Golden Gaytime panna cotta with honeycomb, sablé biscuit and chocolate coated popping candy. It's exactly amazing as it sounds; creamy, sweet but slightly rich panna cotta with some texture from the crunchy honeycomb and biscuit and a welcomed surprise from the popping candy. There is also a selection of pastries and slices available. Coffee is from Five Sense with a range of espresso and filter options available. Soy and almond milk is on offer. There's is also a selection of teas, juices and soft drinks. Unlike many newly opened cafes, service is exceptional and that of an established venue. This is due to most of staff being well experienced, coming from the other cafes in the owners' suite - Barry, Touchwood and Pillar of Salt. If opening week was anything to go by, it is exciting to see how this mammoth of a cafe will evolve.

Yelp
Delicious food, friendly service but a bit rushed as it was so busy. Dishes look amazing and deliver on flavour. Great coffee too!

Yelp
It's always nice to have table service as you always feel more relaxed :) Coffee is pretty good at least when it comes to cappuccino which I always order! And their plain croissants are my favorites so far, I think they equal Lune's ones...

Yelp
Busy but food was quick and good. Barista was slammed but did politely apologize as did my waitress which in my opinion shows they care. Had the North Shore breakfast, was good maybe needs a slice of toast or something but all elements were great. Excellent coffee.
