Google
The atmosphere was so cozy and cute. We ordered the Asian style sticky ribs, Mac & cheese, cannelloni with meatballs, and French onion soup. The ribs were fantastic and so flavorful!! The rice that came with it was a bit over cooked but the ribs were the star of the show. The Mac & cheese was creamy and flavorful as well. The burger was very good! I would definitely come back.

The servers are great but the food is just ok. Came here for happy hour twice, and the second time the portions were completely different. Also didn’t get any garlic aioli for my fries the second time I ordered the same thing. Ordered the artichoke dip and was completely let down. There were two of us and we couldn’t finish it. Incredibly dry. There were more breadcrumbs than actual dip to the point I couldn’t taste the dip. I tried taking off the breadcrumbs and there was still too much after I tried. Didn’t even taste cheesy if at all? Carb overload, especially with the pita chips on the side, made no sense. Half the dip were breadcrumbs. The meatballs were bigger and better the first time I ordered. The second time, the tomato sauce lacked flavor and was not shareable compared to the previous time. Overall the view and vibes are nice, but food is mediocre.

Google
Fish tacos and fries were good, but not remarkable. The rib grilled cheese was dry and flavor so so. French onion soup had very mixed reviews but my favorite soup so I ordered it but returned it was very bland and watery. Had a vodka cranberry and I drank it but do t think it was a good quality vodka and wasn’t very strong.

Google
Hands down the best place to eat or drink in Mammoth. Don't just stick to the village. The tavern is worth the trip. Everything on the menu is amazing. The cocktails are really creative, like from some big city fancy cocktail bar. And the view of the sherwins from the big upstairs windows can't be beat.

Google
We love this spot! Super cozy, amazing view of the valley and excellent food. I never thought to order oysters in a remote place like Mammoth but at the Tavern, they're excellent! Super fresh, excellent garnishes. And their French onion soup is amazing. Try to get a seat near the windows around sunset if you can - the view is unreal.

Google
Great food, drinks and service. Casual and cozy vibe. The cocktails were great, pisco sour and old fashion were phenomenal. The roasted garlic app was great. We got the fried chicken sandwich and burger and both were amazing, although the garlic was the standout dish. No reservations (wait list only) so recommend getting there early.

Google
The Mammoth Tavern is a cozy little spot to grab some dinner in town. Do expect a line at peak times, and the wait can get long as they have something for the whole family. Good, no nonsense foods on this menu. Their caesar salad was absolutely delicious and would recommend for anyone. Otherwise the menu is nice and hardy. As they do get busy, so can the staff and would recommend sitting at the bar if its just you or for 2. Mammoth Tavern is worth a visit if you’re in town for some powder.

Google
Love the cozy feel of this tavern! The food was okay, not amazing. The staff were very nice.

Yelp
We walked in around 4:30 on a Sunday and got seated right away. We typically try to get to this restaurant early since they don't take reservations. The restaurant feels like a fun locals log cabin. We love coming here because it's easy with kids, the food is delicious and they have great craft cocktails. We are never disappointed here. Such a great local spot! Kids ordered Chicken Tenders and Mac & Cheese with Shirley Temples. I had the French Onion Soup + Poke Bowl and Camomile Sour. My husband ordered the shepherds pie and it was absolutely delicious.

Yelp
Came up during thanksgiving weekend with a car packed with groceries thinking that everything would either be crowded or not worth visiting. Decided to still try out a couple of new spots to give Mammoth a chance and was pleasantly surprised by Mammoth Tavern. Stopped in on a Saturday night and were told that the wait would be about 30 to 40 minutes but were seated in about 10! I highly recommend waiting in their waiting area or downstairs for your table as they will come to find to if something opens up quicker. Everything we ordered was tasty. We were very hesitant to try the Asian sticky ribs but it actually ended up being really good. I can't remember what the vegetable dish (4th pic) was called but it was also very good if you got a bite with everything in it. It had sweet potato, beet, candied walnuts and pomegranate seeds! We also ordered some drinks. The curry drink (forgot the name) was surprisingly good despite the odd list of ingredients that went in. Their local black cherry soda was also very nice. Service is great and very helpful when it came to recommendations. The space is small and doesn't allow dogs which was a bummer but still a spot I would come back to try more of their seasonal items!

Yelp
We sat at the bar last night at about 6:00pm. We were ignored at the bar for about 15 minutes before being asked if we'd like something to drink. My wife ordered a 21st Century drink and a Shepherd's Pie, I ordered a Coke and some Sticky Ribs. The bartender asked us if we wanted water, we said yes, she asked if we wanted ice, we said yes. We got our water, both without ice, I got my Coke which was flat and served in a warm glass full of ice. We waited another 30 minutes for my wife's drink while watching the bartender did other drinks, then read the description of her drink, and fumble around looking for the ingredients. Finally after getting my wife's drink we watched the bartender go over to the POS system and start punching in an order that appeared to be ours (started with Sticky Ribs), I asked her, she said it was our order she was putting in, now 40 minutes after we had sat down. The drink was completely underwhelming to boot, we asked for a check, she gave some lame excuses comped the drink and we left. Horrible experience on a quiet night with open tables and bar seats on what would have been the night before open day at Mammoth Mtn. 45 minutes completely wasted. The bartender was also completely unsanitary, went from prepping garnishes, making drinks, and her other duties all while constantly brushing her hair behind her ears and right back to doing what she was doing without washing her hands. Won't be back again after this being one of the go to spots.

Yelp
Really wanted to love this place because of little girl that sat us at our table but the food was just not good. Everything fell flat, especially the spinach and artichoke dip and the French onion soup. Artichoke dip had too many breadcrumbs and the French onion soup was cold and had a big piece of bread hidden in the middle. Service was sooooo slow, I had to cancel my drink. Burger had a soggy bun because they place a big pickle on top of it and Mac and cheese was good but needed more seasoning.
google avatar

Lynn H.

Yelp
I got a veggie wrap with mushrooms and cheese, it was teally good. The side salad had fresh lettuce, radishes, tomatoes and sliced carrots. The price was reasonable and our waitress was great.

Yelp
Love coming here when we go skiing in Mammoth. The French onion soup is to die for and the raw oysters are amazing!! I'd recommend trying all of the oyster variations just to have a taste test but my favorites are the raw oysters. Always come here when we visit
google avatar

Yelp
This place they give more attention to white peoples, I guess we where the wrong place! Our food too for ever to come! We were the only Hispanic people there!

Yelp
A dinner at Mammoth Tavern is a must when visiting. It's practically a family tradition at this point. We come for the fondue, drinks and views. My personal favorite cocktail is the Butterfly Kiss featured in this review and the food it's always delicious. I have yet to see this restaurant without a wait or busy, but all of that is worth it. If you're in the area and would like a delicious meal and love a great ambiance, come to Mammoth Tavern.

Yelp
We waited for almost an hour and had enough time to go to the sake bar across the hall. Nothing Mammoth Tavern can do about that, but I was expecting darn good food to justify the wait. I split the braised short rib grilled cheese and fried chicken sandwich with the sides of fries from both entrees, and while the grilled cheese was quite good, that's kind of it for this place. The fried chicken sandwich was fine and got the craving satisfied, but I've had better. The fries were fine but the "garlic aioli" lacked garlic, or any flavor for the matter. A friend at the table upgraded to onion rings, and it came with very little. I get that things are pricey in a touristy town like Mammoth Lakes, but I was hoping the quality would match the price point. Our waitress seemed like she wanted us to leave. She was very short and overall seemed annoyed at our table, even though we were just eating our food quietly. She was nicer to the table next to us and when we asked for the check. Maybe it was just a bad day, but I probably won't be back.

Yelp
The service was okay, the food took a little longer than expected and the drinks got forgotten, or left at the bar for long periods of time. The lighting was very calming, had a very warm cozy vibe. The Cesar salad with the add on of shrimp was so refreshing. The fondue was delicious was a perfect appetizer for a party of 4 probably 6 max. Rounding it up the chocolate mousse was ok reminded me of chocolate pudding from elementary school, the key lime pie was to die for it was truly the reason to go back it hit the spot 10/10! Overall I give this place a 7/10

CJ B.

Yelp
Very nice place with a great upstairs location. The food all looks great maybe a bit spendy for a tavern. I had the tavern burger and recommend this as a safe bet. I did notice there was not much waiting room at the front door because I got mine to go. So keep in mind if it's busy its a tight entry with no waiting space. The four stars are only because the to go did not really have it together with no bag, no napkins and no plasticware as to say I asked the nice waitress for a fork and she said sorry no fork.

Yelp
The French onion soup is a must! This place is a gem, it get really busy on the weekends so I recommend making a reservation. They have the best staff, very attentive and friendly. I got the chicken sandwich, super good. And they have an excellent beer selection. We will be back!

Yelp
This kills me to write. Regarding 3/30. I called at 6:55 to ask what time they planed to stop seating/serving. They said 8:30, 8:45. Rolled in at 7:50. We were refused. "Too full." Our party of six drove to Roberto's and were so welcomed. Ordered margaritas and great entrees. I left a voicemail and emailed the Tavern on 4/1. Still have not received a response (4/18).

Yelp
I have chosen that place because of good rating and a lot of people. The views from window is good: mountains and snow. Wooden tables are clear. Nice. But too noisy. The first dish was French onion soup. It was extremely salty and peppery, I didn't finish it. The second dish was shepherd pie. It was amazing, but there was no salt and pepper. I suppose all species was accidentally dropped into the soup... The service is not intrusive but fast and comfortable. The price is in the middle.

Yelp
Loved the food, service attentive and the vibe fun & up scale long wait to get in, but worth the wait!

Yelp
AWESOME food! We went twice in one week and between the five of us we tried almost everything on the menu: oysters, ribs, spinach dip, pretzel, onion soup, burger, chicken sandwich, wrap, Cesar salad, macaroni and cheese, etc. Everything was absolutely delicious! Service was solid--we enjoyed our waiter Jesse and wish I could remember our female server's name, as she was excellent as well. She was helping with hostess duties too! Only downside is the restaurant is far too small to accommodate how popular they are. They don't accept reservations so we waited more than an hour on a Friday night. Ugh. And unlike other places, they don't text when your table is ready--you must wait in the vicinity and be there when they call your name. Bummer. We will definitely return but will try to avoid a weekend night.
google avatar

Chandler M.

Yelp
Save your time and money. Poor wait times and service. Wait times would be much shorter if they didn't seat parties of 2 and 3 at one of the only 4 large tables they have. Waitress just abandoned us mid meal, no word or anything. Not that much of disappoint as she was useless, didn't fill drinks or remember to bring anything we asked for.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for after dinner drinks since the bowling alley was closed for a private event. The Christmas decor inside was so cute and and festive which I loved. The server we had at the bar was great as well. They had a lot of interesting cocktails and pretty much a drink for anyone. I got a gin drink that had banana flavoring which I wish was more intense but wasn't bad. My bf for a bourbon drink that had a nice sweet finish. We also ordered the salted caramel ice cream which was good. Would def come back :)

Yelp
This place was a tiny bit confusing to find, but I'm glad I explored and didn't give up. Food, drinks and service were good. Views were even better. Not far from the bus stops if you're using the free transit system during winter. I will return.
google avatar

Brittany S.

Yelp
Food, drinks, service--all fantastic! Besides it being a little stuffy, was an excellent experience. We will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Went with friends for dinner and we've been many times and loved it. Last night was no exception except our appetizer took longer to arrive and food was a little cold. (4) Not sure what the issue was but the food was still tasty but I would have preferred it hot. Love my favorite drink which is not on the menu, butterfly kiss. So pretty and tasty. Many tvs around to catch all sports and a full bar will keep you happy! Happy hour menu is great (4:30-5:30) and includes food from the full menu. Great deal! Enjoy!!
google avatar

Matt H.

Yelp
I was up in town the night before a backpack weekend, and my buddies and I pooped in for a bite and a drink. The place is comfortable and the burgers are huge and tasty. I had a cocktail, which was really good, and my friends had beers, of which there is a quality selection. If I were skiing or otherwise starving from a long day of outdoor recreation (as opposed to just an all-day drive), this spot would definitely hit the spot and get me recharged for the next day.
google avatar

Deadra T.

Yelp
A place we return to time and time again. The food is delicious. We always get the short rib grilled cheese, side salad, the burger and shepherds pie. Never disappoints! The service is always friendly and fast. The ambiance is that of a cabin like, mountain lodge bar. Beautiful views while eating. Full bar. Happy Hour menu. TVs near bar. Ample parking as it is located in a strip mall. Keep in mind, it is upstairs. You need to walk inside strip mall entrance and take the stairs up to your right. Cheers!

Yelp
We have been coming to Mammoth Lakes every year for the last 5 ski seasons. Without fail, this restaurant has consistently served the highest quality food and cocktails you can find anywhere in this town. It never misses. After spending several days on the slopes eating over-priced and mediocre food, or exploring the town and being underwhelmed at the dining options, Mammoth Tavern is an absolute gem with high quality food, amazing beverages, and exceptional service.
google avatar

Richard S.

Yelp
We had a strong craving for fondue, which is why we came here despite up and down reviews from others. It's a small place and very popular and we waited briefly while the staff scurried about. We wound up at a high top which is generally not our preference but actually gave us a great view of the mountains through their picture windows, as clouds rolled in and it began to rain. Having studied the menu we told the waiter right away we knew we wanted the fondue plus martinis. The fondue arrived well before the drinks and our server apologized for their lateness. The fondue had enough cheese for two people but enough dipping items for 8! Cut up bread, pretzels, apples, bratwurst, tomatoes (!), and broccoli florets. The homemade potato chips were tasty. The fondue satisfied our craving but could have used a little more wine in the recipe for flavor (we make it at home sometimes). Ambience was lively and loud, and there were people of all ages, including small children.
google avatar

Hamas B.

Yelp
Loved this place! Its super small so it fills up fast. Tried a new curry drink and it was delicious. Our table loved all our food choices. We tried Sheppard's pie which was amazing, poke bowl and the fondue. We would all come back again next trip in town!

Catherine M.

Yelp
I went on a very busy Thursday night and was accommodated within 10 minutes. The Moscow Mule made by my lovely bartender was one of the best I've ever had - and the poke bowl was fantastic. Friendly staff, great food, and fun atmosphere. Oh, and there's a view of the mountains as well!
google avatar

Samantha S.

Yelp
We love the cheese fondue, Brussels (better when it was pistachios), sticky ribs, man n cheese and burger. Be prepared for a long wait some evenings (the service can be really slow). Good drinks.
google avatar

Ryan L.

Yelp
The beau and I went to Mammoth just before the snow season to get some mountain time and relax. Few places were open but we were so glad that Mammoth Tavern was. The bar and restaurant are located on the second floor in a shopping center. The place is small but we were early enough to find a spot (and take advantage of the happy hour specials.) The drinks here were really good. They were interesting and complex and made so well. I was very impressed. The food was excellent. A lot of the small bites were standouts for me. The short rib grilled cheese was good, but more ribby than cheesy. The meatballs were ok. But the chips and dip, French onion soup, croquettes, were all excellent. If you're in the area, be sure to stop by here.
google avatar

Larry D.

Yelp
Great food, service and ambiance. Great June Lake Pale Ale. Try the beans and rice and Cubano.

William W.

Yelp
Service was very slow. It took about 20 minutes to get a beer and a cocktail. We both ordered the Shepherd's Pie, their signature dish. It was very dry and quite bland. I guess I was expecting something like a savory stew with plenty of gravy. There was really no liquid in the dish. Also, it was a lot smaller than I expected, considering the price. I could have easily eaten two. It is rare I leave a restaurant still hungry, but this was one of those times.
google avatar

Lynn T.

Yelp
Small, Bar-style place with limited seating. Daily specials are unique and very good. Service is mediocre- only had 2 waiters/waitress. Have to have patience or want to be there awhile. Recommend small groups when dining here.

Andy H.

Yelp
Cool scene and view of mountains. Service not good. Plenty nice but not good with hospitality. Slow and missed orders and didn't ask for standard things like condiments or extra water. Food was decent and kind of what you would expect for ski/summer town.
google avatar

Cheryl T.

Yelp
We had a great time at Mammoth Tavern! Service was amazing! Our server Madison was super friendly and conversational. Our French onion soup and grilled cheese with short ribs were delicious! Drinks were great, too!
google avatar

Lisa B.

Yelp
We went on a recommendation and this place did not disappoint! The ambiance was perfect for a mountain bar/restaurant! Lots of wood elements, TVs, yummie food, great cocktails and great service! We had the "special" appetizer which was toasted bread with a baked garlic spread, we also shared the Sticky Ribs and Blackened Ahi. All were delicious!! I had the Jalapeño Miso that was sooo good! I would definitely have it again!

Lydia S.

Yelp
Love this restaurant. The views are stunning. Happy hour appetizers are priced very well and are quite yummy. The mixed drinks were very effective...whee! Service was outstanding and we will come back again‼
google avatar

Matt P.

Yelp
Not really impress with this place. The food was just ok. Service was ok. Parking is not ideal, but I have to add that the snow is covering part of the parking lot. If you want to get a beer and snack on some food, then this is a great place. But I don't know if I would come here for the food.
google avatar

Tiffanie D.

Yelp
Wow I'm surprised this place doesn't have more reviews, great find in the non village mammoth area. Happy hour everyday including weekends. Stumbled upon it when I came at 5:00pm and it ended at 5:30pm. Had a pretty good spinach artichoke dip that was F F F RESH ingredients. Also a superb beef rib grilled cheese. Also got the brussel sprouts that were amazing and sheperds pie. I saw people eating fondue around me and was like uhm what?! Next time I'm definitely getting that because it looked delicious. Aside from beer selection on tap they had good cocktails! Blonde ale was good, muscow mule on happy hour Service was amazing. Waitress pretty attentive and everything came in timely fashion Super nice ambiance on the second floor and floor to ceiling windows
google avatar

Misha M.

Yelp
This restaurant is cozy and welcoming inside. They have a cocktail menu of interesting drinks. I tried two of the mezcal cocktails and they were okay. The shepards pie was also okay but a bit overpriced for what it was. The service was friendly but the food and drinks were slow to come out, however they were apologetic about it. Overall it is somewhere I would come again and try other dishes because I liked the ambiance.

April G.

Yelp
Excellent food and view. Service is a tad good but wish more servers (our server looked overwhelmed). Nonetheless, our family enjoyed them.
google avatar

Christel H.

Yelp
The best go to when in Mammoth, the wait can get ridiculous but you know why. The food comes out in perfect taste, cocktails done right and service just great. We always wait for the Bar since it's the fastest way to get in and eat and just a nice spot to sit. Small spot but great place after a day of boarding.
google avatar

Debbie F.

Yelp
Just looking for a spot to eat later in the evening, and this popped up as open. Well, yes there was a wait, but surprisingly the food quality and taste made me forget about it. Everything was delicious and exceeded my expectations for bar/tavern food. Out of my norm, I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and OMG, it did not disappoint. Popping with flavor and way more than I could eat in 1 sitting, I truly enjoyed this meal. With limited options in town to choose from for a nice dinner out, this one will definitely be a contender
google avatar

Joey M.

Yelp
What's with these people? Talk about pompous, aloof and terribly unaccommodating. They're turning out cheeseburgers and they act like they're the Four Seasons Wailea. And the lady at the front desk is a complete jabroni. Waste of time and energy. Skip.
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
Really good food and excellent service. Ryan was our server and was attentive, friendly, and easily answered all of our questions. The short rib grilled cheese was delicious, as was the spinach and artichoke dip. The grilled peach with burrata was incredible. Only complaint is it gets a little warm because the place is upstairs. Still very much worth it.
google avatar

Barry F.

Yelp
Food is off the chart amazing! Drinks are good. You need to get there at least 20 minutes before they open because it's very popular. The servers were very nice but there was not enough of them for the amount of people. When you get seated, figure out what you want to eat and drink and order at one time. Actually order two drinks because it takes awhile. It's an amazing place but plan ahead and have a plan. Will definitely come back but will take my own advice.
google avatar

Kelly D.

Yelp
Best happy hour in town AND you can get it to-go if it's too crowded. After eating too much greasy bar food the night before and not feeling great, the food at Mammoth Tavern was exactly what I was looking for. Comforting, well made, higher quality sharable food, at the right price. Happy Hour takes place 4-5:30pm daily. I would recommend coming before 5pm to beat the crowd. The variety of food options on the happy hour menu is great and you can't beat the half off glass of wine, well cocktails, and draft beer options if dining in. On my visit, I ordered the Meatballs (HH $7) and Short Rib Grilled Cheese ($11) for take out. The portions were generous, especially in the protein department, for happy hour items. Everything was ready in about 15 minutes. I really enjoyed the flavors of the meatball. I especially enjoyed the ricotta that came with the meatball. The marinara paired surprisingly well with the Short Rib Grilled Cheese. Almost like a tomato soup and grilled cheese pairing. Short ribs in the grilled cheese was tender and the thick toast was perfectly buttered and grilled to perfection. What stood out to me about Mammoth Tavern was the quality of ingredients, down to the side salad and pickle. It was a really satisfying overall experience and I look forward to coming back.

Yelp
My wife and I were staying in Mammoth for a week of hiking and relaxation. The Tavern was within walking distance of our Air BnB. We came for dinner one night. We arrived early which was good because the place completely filled up. The restaurant is upstairs with a view of the Sherwins, which is nice. Our server was attentive, but not particularly friendly. At one point my wife asked her if she could switch the TV to the Padre/Dodger baseball game, as I'm from San Diego. This seemed to put her off, though she did ask the bartender to make the change. My wife ordered a cup of French onion soup and a Portabello mushroom wrap which she said was just OK and I had the shortrib sandwich. We both had fries. Neither of us was wowed. The shortribs were not flavorful. The fries were soft and seemed unseasoned. The Key Lime pie was good. Mammoth Tavern seems very popular and was recommended. My wife and I found it underwhelming.

Yelp
It's a little loud, is a great place to have dinner. Service is fast snd good. Food looks... see the photos !!

Yelp
Small place but worth the wait. We went on a Thursday night 6pm and it was busy and we had a 15 min wait. Everything our table of 4 ordered was excellent: drinks and food
