Google
Food was ok, best 6/10. We order Hainan chicken, salt pepper tofu, and garlic hollow veggie. The tofu was good, but the portion was half of what is represented in menu picture. Chicken and veggies taste pretty plain.

Google
Ol' skool place, with very attentive folks. They've been here for a while. I've been here once many years ago, but honestly, I don't hit them often enough. Their food is really good. Tried their house chicken with their namesake, and it's SUPER soft. The braised pork was good. Every bite I had was really soft. BUT, my friends also caught some pieces that were also not AS soft, so... Almost there, just a step away from perfect. One of those friends would still disagree though, because he'd much rather have the Shanghai style red-braised pork, "Yes, the red dye, sugar, and a side order of cardio-infarction please!" The braised pork here is more savory than sweet. But I liked it! Their Filet Mignon wasn't bad either! If they gave a larger portion, and the inside was softer while maintaining that glazed protective layer, by cutting them up into slightly larger pieces, they would actually be on par with Tân Cảng (新港). BUT still good!!! Especially for the price!

Google
Best Hainan chicken rice at LA area, and the desert Coconut Custard/ pudding in a whole coconut is also worth a try. Will definite go back there again!!

Google
Hainan Chicken Rice, the first time here. the Hainan Chicken is very good. Compare to Savoy, it's just as good. Personally I like this over Savoy. Other dishes, some are good, some are not so. This little place has a large menu which made it a bit confusing. They should focus more on their specialties.

Google
Ordered lunch to go on a Monday. Food overall were unimpressive although good portion. The eggplant was a bit undercooked, filet mignon a little tough, wonton soup rather bland, leaving the fried rice to be favored. The only thing memorial was actually the coconut cake, which is gelatinous sweet inside the coconut.

Google
Two of us split a half chicken. The rice is flavorful, the chicken is good, and that green sauce (ginger, scallion) is amazing. Getting a 2nd portion of the green sauce cost 25 cents extra, which surprised us, but it's so good that of course it's worth it. They also served a complimentary soup, I think lotus and mushroom, that I'm told is a typical Cantonese style.

Google
Hainan chicken rice dish is bomb. Better than savoy. Try their salt and pepper chicken wings! Skip the noodles. There's plenty of underground parking in this plaza. Friendly staff and food came out fast. Cold seaweed does run out fast though.

Aidan Mahoney

Google
Hainanese chicken is okay. $4.50 for a ice tea is probaly the same price in most places. But their ice tea is not real. Tastes like crystal light and artificial sweetener. The only real ingredient they add to their ice tea is the lemon. Restaurant is and relaxed which is nice. But the food is okay at best.

Bo W.

Yelp
It's a small mom and pop shop. Food is good. I enjoyed it big time. It's better than I've imagined. I would totally come back.

Melina C.

Yelp
Ordered the following: 2 rice plates of Hainan Style Chicken Rice- The chicken was a bit tough to chew but overall good. The rice was different from other Hainan chicken rice dishes I had before. It had little meat pieces and had ginger in it too. Bean Curd with Mix Fungus-This one is actually tofu so please don't be fooled by the English name of the dish aha. The tofu was so so soft and amazing. Wonderful dish overall. Also, they provide you with soup! It's rare to see Chinese restaurants do this anymore so this was a nice touch. I would come again to try other dishes.

Winnie K.

Yelp
Man Chan Cuisine satisfies Hainan chicken cravings. They're in the same complex as Chi Cha San Chen - grab some boba after tasty lunch. There's underground parking lot if the surface spots are full. For the food: They start the meal with free soup! The hainan chicken is steamed to perfection. It's tender, juicy and the skin is glistening with sesame oil. The chicken comes with all the sauces and chicken rice. The french style filet mignon is soft and tender. A la carte will give you much more beef than the combo with red rice. These two dishes are Asian mom approved

Yelp
This long overdue five star review is for the phenomenal Hainan chicken rice at Man Chan Cuisine. Over the past five years, this has consistently been the best Hainan chicken I had in LA. The chicken is always flavorful and tender, with reasonably bone and a perfect balance of the best parts of the meat. A huge shoutout to the owner for maintaining such high quality standards for so many years. Their coconut chicken soup is another highlight, made with fresh whole coconut that you can truly taste in every sip. This restaurant deserves far more attention than it gets. A gem like this should definitely shine brighter.

Yelp
It's a good place to go to for some really good food. You can't go wrong with this place. What you see is what you get. Please support this local business.

Brian C.

Yelp
This spot is a low key heavy hitter in the SGV. If you are looking for canto style hainan chicken this spot is a go to. There are not many tables but you really get the family the feel here. They have very good chicken but what I would highly recommend here is the taro and seaweed fried rice. This dish is very different from any other fried rices you will try. In regards to the service, they do a good job in attending to your needs.

Justin T.

Yelp
Can't say how amazing their Hainan chicken rice is especially the fried one I always get. Great service and the owners are super nice. Love coming here!

Stephanie D.

Yelp
High recommended. It's my first time order Chicken rice from this restaurant and will absolutely come back. The food is so good and staff is friendly.

Cahaya S.

Yelp
Homey little place serving Cantonese cuisine. Great service from The owner and staff? They were generous with little extras and attentive to service. Small, mom And pop seeming place. Check it out! It's in a small shopping complex. Parking underground and on main level.

Jessica G.

Yelp
What a delicious place! I have been on a hunt for amazing Hainan chicken. So my cravings for it has been crazy! I am glad I found this location. Their chicken is seasoned to perfection. I would say the rice needs a little more flavor, but it was really well cooked. The soup that it comes with.. MY GAWD it was delicious. I would go back just for the chicken and soup and be completely satisfied.. I probably need to lay off the rice anyways.. haha Can't wait to try the rest of their menu!

Tim E.

Yelp
A group of us came here to checkout their Hainan chicken. Turns out I've been here in the past. Before it was Dragon something and it had one of the best pan fried dumplings. Okay sorry got off track there as of now this place is known for their Hainan chicken and it didn't disappoint though I should've gotten all dark meat chicken because that's my love. All of us were happy with our meal choices even those that decided on something different. I tried the pork belly and it was something I'd order next time around. The server was nice and accommodating to our table. Parking can be difficult even though they have underground parking so I typically park on the street to avoid door dings. Come check this place out!

Samantha W.

Yelp
Okay...yum! The eggplant dish was incredibly delicious - like REALLY good. I think it's the best eggplant dish I've ever had. The eggplant was cooked perfectly, seasoned nicely and the flavor was so so delicious. The pork belly in it was kinda meh but the eggplant was to die for. 4.5/5 Hainan chicken curry suuuper yummy. Kind of like a Japanese curry flavor. Very flavorful. 4/5 The hainan chicken I could've did without. It was pretty mediocre. As others said, it has a lot of bones and the amount of meat is pretty thin. But I didn't mind that too much it's just that it was lacking the aroma and flavor. 2/5 The "coconut cake" SO GOOD. It's basically fresh Thai young coconut that has agar agar or gelatin added to make it firmer/more jelly like. It's incredibly good. 5/5

Ricky C.

Yelp
Went to try thier Hainan chicken today I got the whole chicken for take out, and it includes 2 soup and chicken rice .my first bite .I could say it's so tender and juicy just like the ones I've eaten in Singapore although a little pricy but I was satufy overall with chicken.wikl definitely come back again .

Yelp
Reading all the good reviews, decided to give a try. Place is small & clutter in the corner, no AC, so hot, even only 2 tables at that moment. This restaurant doesn't serve water, when asked, the waiter told us that we need to buy their prepared drinks. Foods are mediocre quality, just like cooking at home. Ordered 3 dishes, only got 2. There are other places better with the same prices. Maybe others had a better experience, as for us even 1 star is quite generous.

Oskar S.

Yelp
The food was mediocre at best. They forgot one of our dishes. We ordered our drinks twice and never got them.

Amanda C.

Yelp
The food here is so good! We ordered the salted fish & pork belly eggplant bowl, hainan chicken curry, and the chicken coconut soup. They also served us complimentary papaya soup! The eggplant bowl was sooo good,, the pork belly is seasoned so well but doesnt clash with the sauce in the bowl. The chicken is super super soft and yummy. As for the chicken coconut soup, we loved it a lot!!!! The soup was so soothing and definitely left us wanting more. Our server was very friendly and kind :)

Yelp
I love to eat chicken. This place is the right place. I enjoy eating chicken here because Hainan Style Chicken texture is so fresh. Normally, chicken breasts in restaurants are the nightmare that the taste is tasteless, so dry, and the texture like paper. I surprisingly eat chicken breast here, the texture like gum, it's chewy. According to the chefs said, their chicken is not cooked by frozen chicken. Their chicken is freshly culled every morning for the highest quality fresh chicken meat for all gourmet like me. But their ginger and green onion sauce doesn't taste fresh. If their ginger and green onion sauce can improve it, that would be perfect. Free Chicken Feet soup (Broth) is not bad. Stir Fried bitter melon is fresh. Unfortunately, Ting Choy w/Pepper & Bean Curd Sauce tastes not so balanced. The taste of the top part and the middle part of Ting Choy is not much Bean Curd flavor. The bottom part of Ting Choy is salty with strong Bean curd flavor. Coconut cake is okay. I will come back for this local business. By the way, the service is nice when the aunt age waiter.

Yelp
Visited: 2024-05 French style filet mignon with red rice $16.99: the pieces of filet had really good flavor to them & were very tender. They were served over a bed of onions and 1 slice of tomato, cut in half for presentation. The red rice side had a mild and tasty tomato taste to it. I would definitely get this again. Hainan chicken $14.50: M got it and liked it. She could taste the type of chicken used. I had a piece and thought the chicken was a bit too chewy for my liking. OVERALL: interesting dine in experience. They gave us a few pages of menus with no prices. After we ordered, we got some pretty decent soup made with chicken feet & a few other items. I think take out is the way to go for me from this place as they serve good food but the ambience and service could use some work.

Victoria C.

Yelp
Received an order that's totally different from the picture on the app. So disappointed.

Loretta C.

Yelp
This was a great Hainan chicken option. Funny story of how I found out about Man Chan Cuisine: while I was standing outside of Cluck2Go, waiting for my takeout order to be ready, another person who was standing nearby started chatting with me about Hainan Chicken. He had never tried Savoy or Cluck2Go before, but had only had Man Chan Cuisine, so he recommended that I try this spot. I enjoyed their chicken! It's very flavorful and the rice that comes with the meal is delicious. If you want rice, you have to make sure to order the Hainan Style Chicken Rice (G1), not just the plate (B1), since the plate only comes in chicken. I'm definitely coming back because their menu seems to have a lot of variety, and the staff was so friendly!

Wendy C.

Yelp
Ordered take out from here probably some of the best hainanese chicken rice i have ever had

Katherine V.

Yelp
OMG. Man Chan Cuisine, where have you been all my life?? Succulent Hainan chicken, deeply umami stew, and comforting chicken and coconut hot pot....100% my new go-to spot! I stopped by on a sunny Friday afternoon and was immediately greeted and led to my seat. Our server gave great recommendations for dishes since it was our first time here, and everything we ordered blew me away with generous portions and great taste. Hainan Chicken: super juicy and well cooked! The server told me they pick up freshly culled chicken every morning and I can taste the freshness! The rice is flavored better than the other popular Hainan chicken spot in the area, so I actually prefer it here! Chicken with coconut in hot pot: If you're feeling under the weather, this is the soup for you. It reminds me of pho ga, but with coconut instead of noodles. The broth is flavorful and rich, but somehow not heavy. Roast pork belly with salty fish & eggplant in hot pot: surprisingly my favorite dish and I've never had it before this! The eggplant is soft but not mushy, and the pork belly has a beautiful crust on it that contrasts well with the textures of the hot pot. It also absorbs the flavor which I LOVE. Coconut cake: OMG. If you like coconut jelly, it's only $11 and comfortably feeds two (HUNGRY) people. It's fresh and lightly sweet, perfect for a hot day! I'm coming back next week to try more from this menu!

Kimmie L.

Yelp
Hainan chicken rice is decent here! We were wanting to eat it for awhile now. Came across this place while waiting for chicha tea. Ordered 2 orders of the rice plate. Chicken was flavorful but a bit boney. The rice is good but it's a bit dry and hard. It tasted better when you mix the ginger/green onion with it. Portion was decent and it comes with soup and side of pickled radish/carrot.

Bessy W.

Yelp
Came here with my coworker, she had been talking about this place and their Hainan chicken for a while, saying it was the best in the area. I hadn't tried it until today and wow it really is the best one in the area. The hainan chicken is so popular but I tried their French styled filet mignon and it's so succulent and juicy!!! Definitely also give this a try if you stop by!

Frank C.

Yelp
Very flavorful. But too many bones! They also charge credit card fees, which they failed to mention.

Brandon N.

Yelp
Man Chan is a restaurant that we came upon while looking for a quick bite to eat. We didn't know what to eat and we were in the plaza so we decided to take a risk and try something new. This place is pretty good. There's a lot of parking. We got the fried rice as well as the eggplant and hainan chicken. It was really good. I would come back.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Grabbed half of Hainan chicken to go. It came with soup, rice, pickled veggies and sauces. The chicken was very tender and flavorful. But lots of bones and very little meat though. I could finish the whole thing by myself. Delicious!

Larous Z.

Yelp
点的外卖,海南鸡饭和椰子鸡汤 两只蟑螂... 真牛逼 There are two cockroaches in the togo order, the o n w esaid who knows if it's real or not, come on, you're really funny... The kitchen was so dirty and disgusting that I will never come back.

Irene W.

Yelp
I've only been here once and it's already blew me away. I wish I knew of this place sooner because the way they do Hainan chicken here is pretty unbeatable in my book. The rice is flavored perfectly, the chicken is not dry at all - juicy to the point of perfection, actually. The chicken skin also has substantial flavor and it makes me really want to devour the whole thing in one go. The sauces they have pair extremely well with the chicken and the rice and the pickled veggies add the perfect last touch to the whole dish. Honestly, this is my spot from now on for Hainan chicken & rice. I really hope this place doesn't blow up like crazy because this is a true gem in the 626. One note though: if you end up taking your leftovers to go and they offer to box it up for you, please box it yourself. They won't include your sauces (or any sauce) and that's pretty important in my book. I will definitely frequent this place more often to try their other dishes and I'm lowkey so excited because the hainan chicken was already so good.

Yvonne C.

Yelp
Was craving hainan chicken last night. Found this online and ordered a whole chicken which came in two takeout boxes. It came with two rice and the rice had little pieces of meat in there. It was different but tasted good. The chicken had a lot of bones but very flavorful. Would definitely order from here again!

David L.

Yelp
Known for Hainan chicken so we gave it a shot. Def a mom and pop type place and hard working no doubt. I would say pass on it as there are better Hainan chicken places around. The chicken has good flavor but the chicken they use is a little tougher than others. And first world problems... yes it has bones. If you're lazy like me when it comes to eating, you can pay a little more for boneless. We tried the eggplant pot with pork which is good but they skimp on that pork and overload it with eggplant. Also the wood pot chicken is way too salty and tough meat as well. The wonton noodle soup, the noodles were little sweet. My son just told me this! They charge a 3% for credit card pay sooooooo yeah. See ya man Chan.

Wing C.

Yelp
I was really disappointed by their hainan chicken rice (priced at $10.99 plus tax). I couldn't believe the chicken they served - mainly bones and skins. The portion size was a joke. Probably the worst chicken rice I had in all of SGV. The server wasn't particularly helpful either. She was checking her phone and rubbing her nose for the majority of our visit. We were the only dining patrons... can we at least have water? Skip skip skip.

Alan K.

Yelp
With Green Zone having moved further up north to Temple City years ago, there's been a lack of options for Hainan Chicken (also now that the Hacienda Cluck2Go is closed too. Yay.) There's some redeeming qualities about Man Chan's Hainan Chicken, first and foremost is because it has a lot of depth of flavor up front but then the aftertaste is near being a salt-bomb. Because the rice is also flavored, and has salt too, doesn't really balance it out. Ginger-scallion sauce? Okay, that one is actually a salt bomb too. And I'm not even go to mention that red sauce too. Disregard all the saltiness and having to take a sip of water after every other chicken (no joke), the chicken itself is pretty tender except they've decided to not use sharp cleavers and really hack at it when cutting the chicken. This results in small bone bits that are hidden in each bite and you won't tell until you've chewed down and hear a crunch.. So, it's a no for me.

Jieming L.

Yelp
I went in for a take out of the whole man Chan chicken with a special request that I'd like to take the chicken head. Yes, that can be done. In ten minutes, the chef gave me the package, carefully prepared, two boxes of cutup chicken as expected, one box of the Chicken flavored rice unexpected, and two cups of special chicken soup unexpected. I could tell the chef cared about the customers best experience, appreciate the extras that go so well with the chicken. The taste of the chicken is very on point, tender on the dark meat but fully cooked. Lots of sauce, the ginger scallion was very good, sweet and soured cabbage and spicy chilies, all good. The soup is very much house made with sweet potatoes and peanuts in the Cantonese style. There is one thing that is less satisfying, the chicken may be too aging for the boiled style. The chicken breast white meat is hard to chew, a more tender chicken would've been better. Overall it's a good dish and chefs work is very good!

Julia L.

Yelp
I've had the hainanese chicken here and it is different from most places I've tried. The chicken seemed to have a more game-y flavor and a lot of bones. It was hard for me to eat. You do get a lot of chicken rice with it but it didn't have much flavor. There was also chicken soup which was surprisingly sweet. My husband got the ginger scallion fish filet and said this was really good. Really good value for your dollar. I got the salt and pepper chicken wings and salt and pepper fish. Tasted like your generic salt and pepper dishes, nothing stood out. The portions for these two were also fairly small.

Luke L.

Yelp
Man Chan Cuisine is not to be confused with Cluck2Go in Rowland Heights. The original owner used to run both San Gabriel and Rowland Heights locations, but now each location is under different ownership (original owner remains in San Gabriel and new owner in Rowland Heights) and the Rowland Heights location changed the name from Man Chan to Cluck2Go. Originally I was planning to have a quick dinner at MIAN and the staff hung up the closing banner sign right before I was about to walk in. The sign said that they stop serving at 9:50 PM and one of waiters gave me a "no" gesture even though it was technically 9:45 PM. So I did a quick Yelp search and luckily Man Chan Cuisine was still open for business. Man Chan Cuisine's signature dish is Hainan chicken and it took me less than a minute to make my decision. *** G1. Hainan Style Chicken Rice ($9.24): The chicken quality definitely lived up to its name - very tender chicken. Man Chan's chicken tasted just as good as other popular Hainan chicken places in the SGV (San Gabriel Valley) area. With that being said, scallion and ginger dipping sauces weren't very impressive and rice lacked flavors. (3.5/5) *** Personally I still like Savoy Kitchen in San Gabriel first then follow by Tasty Food in Rosemead, but Man Chan's Hainan chicken still tastes great and not to mention this place isn't as crowded as other two Hainan chicken places.

Ming W.

Yelp
I bought togo food to family last night. Food are not good. My son said his Hainan chicken was mostly bone. The pork belly was not tasty and chewy. I wont come back for sure and happy to tell my friends and family dont need to waste time and money for this restaurant.

Rebecca R.

Yelp
We came for Hainan Chicken and we really liked it. The service is good. The ambiance is not too bad. For sure we'll come back again.

J H.

Yelp
Really good Hainan chicken and rice. French cube mignon steak dish was really good too. Friendly service.

Rosanna W.

Yelp
The Pork Hocks with Fermented Bean Curd is my favorite thing here. Coconut chicken here is also amazing. So much flavor in the soup and the chicken is really tender. The food is great and authentic, reminds me of Hong Kong.

Windy M.

Yelp
I always come here for hainan chicken and my husband comes for their beef and tomato rice. Hainan chicken is delicious here. I always opt for boneless. The green onion sauce is a must with this dish. Rice is not too soft and has great chicken flavor. The beef is tender and the tomato rice is a great accompaniment.

Diana N.

Yelp
My friend and I were going to pass through the area and I was craving Hainan chicken, so we ended up ordering two Hainan chicken meals. The meals were ready for takeout when we came by to pickup. They came with a side of chicken broth and the sauces for the chicken. My HAINAN CHICKEN MEAL felt like a good home-cooked meal that I have missed out on for years because I haven't had this meal for years (I mean it). I loved dipping spoonfuls of their rice into the broth (the broth was definitely rich in flavor) which made it feel like soup you would eat/drink on a cold winter's day when you're sick. The amount of chicken was alright (hence, the four stars). Half of the pieces were mainly bones; the other half had pretty good chunks of tender meat on it. Drizzling that special Hainan sauce on the chicken pieces gave the chicken so much flavor! Wonderful place, great meal, and friendly service during check-out.

Felicia C.

Yelp
I always wanna try new places when I eat out. I tried MIAN next door a few days ago, so this time we decided to go next door. The hainan chicken picture interested me. And either way we will try all the restaurants in this plaza anyway. So it didn't matter which one we chose lol. Our waitress didn't have much English but it was enough for us to understand and communicate with her. We got hainan chicken dish (no rice), sweet and sour spare ribs, seafood porridge, and chinese donut. Best item we had was the ribs. It was a bit sweet for me but it was crispy, and after I put some tabasco and sriracha on it, it was more suited for my liking. The porridge didn't have any taste so I had to put vinegar and soy sauce. But portion was big for $7.25, and had a good amount of seafood (shrimps, fish, squid, ginger). Hainan chicken was a bit too oily and salty, but with the chili and garlic oil, it was good. Chinese donut was crispy and hot. Just a bit oily. Food came out fast. I wouldn't mind coming back here but I had tried better places for this kind of food.

Snooty F.

Yelp
Flavors are all wrong. Beef claypot was too sweet, hainan chicken had too many tiny bones, bok choy was bland, and the chicken soup did not taste clean it was kind of didgusting. Service was very good but not enough for me to return for authentic food.

Dianne L.

Yelp
Darn amazing wooden pot chicken. So juicy and gingery- it's a soy based braised chicken served in a wooden pot, which I think is one of their speciality besides the Hainan Chicken. The portion was generous and the chicken was so juicy. And let's also talk about the Hainan chicken rice. Mmmmm also delicious! Served in a generous portion, the rice was pretty darn good- and the chicken also tasty. Service was good as well- water was always full. Parking is easy ish because like a lot of places in this area, it's tucked in a plaza. Price also very reasonable. Would recommend and would definitely come back.

Lay T.

Yelp
We ordered hainan chicken rice and bbq pork with egg and it was YUM! Plus in this cold weather to be welcomed with the smile and the complimentary soup as soon as we entered was lovely!

Min Z.

Yelp
I love the hainan chicken and the filet so much! I order these two every time I visit or order online.

John T.

Yelp
Rating: 3.5 Stars! I recently saw some food pictures of the hainan chicken and thought to myself that I really wanted it!. Credit Card: Maybe it's accepted? I saw a sign inside the restaurant that said cash only and on yelp it said yes. We decided to just pay in cash instead of asking if they took credit card. Location/Parking: Located in a rather tame Prospect Plaza where parking is easily obtainable. Ambiance: Ambiance is alright for a small mom and pop restaurant. Service: Service is a bit slow (flagging staffer to take order took awhile), but the food surely makes up for it. Staffers were friendly and attentive. Food came out at a decent rate. Food: We ordered two items that was scrumptious (word of the day). Our meal also comes with complimentary soup of the day (chicken feet soup). The broth was flavorful and the chicken feet was yum! 1) Hainan Chicken Curry: The hainan chicken was tender, flavorful, and juicy; the curry was also flavorful and not salty, but was a bit watery compared to other cantonese style curries I had at other cafe's. This dish comes with steam rice, but we decided to get the chicken rice for an additional price ($1.50). I was slightly disappointed, because it was less flavorful. 2) Fish Filet Porridge: As for the fish filet porridge, I thought it complimented the hainan chicken curry (savory) quite well. The fish filet was nice and soft and discovered that if you combined the curry and the porridge together.... it made a nice curry fish filet porridge. Definitely come back to try more items.

Brandon L.

Yelp
I did not appreciate the restaurant's merchant fee - there was no notice of such a sleazy fee until it was seen on the last line of the bill.
