19 Best Dim Sum Spots in Hong Kong

"Come with an open mind: The dim sum is unorthodox, as French flavors blend with Cantonese techniques. The minimalist decor and casually artsy environment set Man Mo Dim Sum apart from its typical Cantonese counterpoints—and from every other spot on touristy Upper Lascar Row. Globetrotters and French expats flock here for the ratatouille dumplings, Nutella balls, and Ksumi teas, taking Man Mo from neighborhood bistro to international must-do." - Kate Springer, Janice Leung Hayes

The mozzarella tomato dim sum was actually crazy. I was recommended this place by a local and it lived up to the expectations. Although the portions were small and expensive, it was worth it (I was travelling as a student with one more person). It was the best dim sum I’ve had hands down, and with the perfect ambiance.

The location was super. We enjoyed the atmosphere (the decor, music, service). The menu choice was broad, so we tried a few different dim sum options and fried rice with chicken. Recommended but pricey.

Overall great experience! Food is good and dumplings filling are very original and yummy. The only downside, a bit expensive for the quantities served

Was recommended this place by a passenger sitting next to me on the plane, decided to take the recommendation and I certainly wasn’t disappointed, the food was fantastic each dim sum freshly prepared with the finest of ingredients. I had the sea bass, foie gras, and duck dim som and each one was exceptional. Service was pleasant and explained all the ingredients and how to eat I sat at the front of the restaurant and watched Hong Kong bussle by. I would recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment.

My mouth is watering thinking about the food I had here. They also brought out a free chocolate mouse for my friend’s birthday which was a surprise. Love the interior too and the plates are gorgeous and the food looks gorgeous.

Excellent dinner, very tasty contemporary dim sum - prefer the savoury rather than the desserts

The food was generally not bad, with a couple of fusion dim sum dishes that impressed. However, the carrot slice that came with the peking duck dumplings smelled sour and pungent. We politely confirmed with the member of staff that the carrot was not pickled, and was not supposed to smell foul. We then expressed our concern, and instead of checking our serving of food, they went into the kitchen, came out in a moment and reassured the food was fine, with no apologies and certainly no regard to the customer’s view on the incident.

Man Mo Dimsum - An Average Dimsum Experience with Some Standout Dishes I recently visited Man Mo Dimsum in Sheung Wan, Central, Hong Kong for lunch and had a mixed experience with the food. To start, the tuna tartare and fried shrimp dishes were just okay - nothing too memorable. The fried rice was also fairly average. However, there were some real highlights on the menu. The chicken mustard dumplings were amazing, with a wonderful blend of flavors. The truffle brie was an outstanding dish and a clear standout. The Tom Yum dumplings had a nice spicy kick with a great tangy flavor profile. The spinach goat cheese dumplings were also very good. For dessert, the salted caramel balls were a tasty way to finish the meal, with a nice chewy, glutinous texture. Overall, I'd say Man Mo Dimsum is worth a visit, but primarily for the standout dishes like the truffle brie, chicken mustard dumplings, and Tom Yum dumplings. The other items we tried were just okay. It's a mixed bag, but the high points make it worth checking out if you're in the area and craving some quality dimsum. I'd recommend focusing your order on their specialty items for the best experience.
