I grew up on Maui, but I've never actually gone to Mana Foods up until a few weeks ago. Haha! I've heard lots about it, read the reviews, and fiiiinally, I made it guys!
After a spontaneous dinner in Paia which honestly left me feeling like I wasn't even in Hawaii (lol), I just became super curious about my surroundings and Mana Foods was part of that. I didn't even have anything specific in mind to buy, I just wanted to see what it was like inside.
It's an older establishment. The aisles are a bit more cramped, but not claustrophobic. They've got you covered on all the basics like fruits & veggies, dairy, drinks, meat, baked goods. They even have a hot food line, a bakery, large selection of health supplements, and an incredible selection of bulk food items. I guess it's the biggest bulk food selection in the state of Hawaii and features things like organic coffee beans, baking supplies, grains, beans, pastas, Mana's own mix of trail mixes, organic freshly ground nut-butters. It was all very foreign to me, but really interesting nonetheless.
It's a health food store and there are so many different options. I'm not the healthiest person and this isn't really my normal, but I still found a lot of things that I would get and the prices weren't too shabby. I was actually surprised to find Loacker Vanilla Wafers there which was perfect because I was craving them for some weird reason. Hehe. We also got some cheese and cured meat that we don't normally see in other stores and my family & I enjoyed it over the course of a few days. Yum!
All in all, good market that should meet most of your grocery shopping needs. It's like a Whole Foods, but you'll find more local grown/local made things here!
