The 10 Best National Parks in the World

"A UNESCO World Heritage site, [this park] in northern Zimbabwe is one of the most remote and least developed safari parks in Southern Africa. Given its location along the magnificent Zambezi River, the park is home to an amazing array of animal and bird species and, as a result, offers a plethora of exciting adventure activities, including open-vehicle game drives, exceptional guided walking safaris, and exciting canoeing excursions among huge numbers of hippos and crocodiles." — Julian Harrison, Premier Tours. Visitors can expect remote, Zambezi-river–framed wildlife viewing with close encounters of hippos, crocodiles and many bird species, plus a mix of game drives, walking safaris and canoeing." - Elizabeth Cantrell Elizabeth Cantrell Elizabeth Cantrell is a senior editor at Travel + Leisure. When is The Best Time of the Year to Go on Safari? - AFAR

"A riverine park known for magnificent wildlife sightings framed by the wide Zambezi River; the shoulder season of September–October brings warmer days, dramatic afternoon thunderstorms that clear dust and produce spectacular sunsets, plus excellent tiger-fishing in the Lower Zambezi—while travelers should note that many local camps may close during the November–April rains when roads become impassable." - Richard Holmes

Mana pools was absolutely incredible and breathtaking, the remoteness and abundance of wildlife make it a top destination for campers and animal lovers. Unfortunately a lot can be done to the campsites to make them more user friendly and hygienic. Ablution facilities are not good and not maintained. The price you pay for camping is not justifiable with what you get. Otherwise the experience was a once in a lifetime.

You will understand why people talk about Mana Magic once you have been there. Really wild wilderness at its best. Stunning landscapes and endless photographic opportunities. The massive tree canopy with the game under it and the well known elephants standing on their hind legs to reach the highest branches makes for an unforgettable holiday. You can walk with the animals if you paid for that permit. You camp in between all the animals. Be careful and take it serious as it is not for sissies or chancetakers. Appreciate the wilderness and keep your distance.

This park is a UNESCO heritage site located close to Zambian border. We enjoyed seeing various birds and animals: lions, elephants, hyppos, watrhogs, several species of antelopes, etc. Safari was perfectly ogranised by Kanga camp.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON’T GO DURING OFF SEASON (RAIN SEASON)… The park and lodge was seemingly neglected by the authority in addition to the muddy road around the area. The park was opened but the staff there didn’t seem to attend to their responsibilities, e.g. the office was unmanned, need to wait for an hour for checking in. Moreover, there was no water in the lodge and we weren’t being noticed by the tourism manager before we moved in (also with normal price). The bed sheet was dirty and the door was broken. No one accompanied us to the accommodation which seemed to be uncared for properly. The staff in the park also provided lack information about the areas such as the conditions of the road and there was no map. The only consolidation we had was seeing the wildlife a bit such as hippos, antelopes, elephants, baboons, buffalos, wild pigs, and some wild chicks… PLEASE DON’T GO DURING OFF SEASON

Had a great experience with the animals in their natural habitat.

Beautiful national park with spectacular birding opportunities, depending on the time of year that you visit. One of the few places where you can self-drive, but I certainly wouldn't advise it, given the condition of roads, and the prolific wildlife there. No cell signals or internet anywhere, but with all that natural beauty around, you don't even miss it! Loved staying at Nyamatusi Camp, run by African Bush Camps!

The Mana Pools National Park is a beautiful area with lots of game when you go on safari notably the endangered wild dogs and elephants. There are many impala, lions and baboons as well as other antelope. You will find basic camps to luxury camps or if you prefer you can do a self drive and find accommodation in a campsite. There is a drought right now so it's very dry and some animals are suffering terribly. You will leave your heart here.
