I love supporting local distilleries, so I was super excited when a coworker brought us to this little corner of Pottstown to enjoy the Brewery and distillery. We got there around 4:30ish and it was extremely empty, but by 6pm the place was vibrating with people of all ages and even puppies! The space inside is comfortable, and has plenty of seating in comparison to many other distilleries I've been to. They also have outside seating with cornholes games and MOST importantly a food truck!
This particular night it was Captain Crabbies and they had a great array of seafood: fish tacos, shrimp burrito, lobster rolls, lobster tots! All the items were really delicious and more importantly extremely reasonably priced. I paid $8 for a great lobster roll and a small side of coleslaw.
As for drinks, I decided to start with one of their crafted cocktails, they reminded me of the types of drinks you get downtown in the speakeasies like Hop Sing. I started with the Rumrock Peach which was a mixter of rum, peaches, and citrus. I was hoping it would taste more like peach, instead it tasted very heavy on the citrus. I wasn't a fan.
For my second cocktail I decided to ask the bartender about the whiskey, since they sold a clear whiskey, which I had never seen. He said it is the closest to a tequila and he recommended it in a margarita. So I went with that recommendation and was very pleased! It tasted like a smokey margarita. As he made my drink the bartender said they are opening up another location in Passynuck, which is cool, bc that would be much closer than this location to my place.
Overall I really liked the vibe here, music was great, delcious cocktails. Although they did not have a happy hour going like Sly Fox did, they gave you $5 off your bill if you took a short survey, so that made up for the $10 cocktails. The reasons I am taking a star off is because the service was particularly slow. There were not many people there and I think due to drinks being so labor intensive, the service was really slow. Which brings me to my next issue - the lack of air conditioning. It was an 82 degree day and inside it was hotter than it was outside. They do have fans, but I was literally standing waiting for my bill and just growing a sweat mustache. So besides that, I would return - maybe in the cooler Fall weather.
