A Spring Garden Pop-Up Opens at the Top of the Hyatt - Eater San Diego

"Though it may be a tad gloomy outside, spring is in full bloom indoors at the Top of the Hyatt, which has been turned into a lush enchanted garden for a special spring pop-up that starts Thursday, March 30 and runs until Tuesday, May 23. Buoyed by the success of its holiday pop-up last winter, the landmark rooftop bar, perched high on the 40th floor of the Manchester Grand Hyatt’s Harbor Tower — the tallest waterfront building on the West Coast — is planning to do these full-scale transformations throughout the year, possibly adding a summer or fall edition. This season, it’s the Over the Top Grand Garden, a whimsical space full of Instagrammable angles. Decorated with giant mushrooms and extravagant floral displays; the immersive experience even extends to different fragrances placed around the room that might bring to mind the scent of a garden after the rain or a bundle of fresh flowers." - Candice Woo

This place is clean and beautiful! We stayed in the recently renovated tower and it was gorgeous! Pool was great too! Adult pool was shut down but family pool had plenty of seating if you arrive before 1:00. Friendly service at the front desk and great location to seaport village.

Great hotel. The king room we had was luxurious although not one of the most expensive homes period clean, large & comfortable. Refrigerator worked well to keep drinks and snacks cold and upon request, they even gave us a microwave! Staff, both at check-in and housekeeping were professional friendly and made effort to make the stay a great experience. Hotel is located right at Seaport Village, in a very safe and walkable area. It was easy to get to everything-- Gaslight district, Petco park, convention center and the ferries. Trolley to the zoo was right out front. The view was great from our waterfront room and amenities outstanding. Only issue were the slow/ crowded elevators during busy times.

My husband and I stayed over the 4th of July weekend—an annual tradition for us. (We usually choose between the Hyatt and the Hilton SD Bayfront.) We've stayed at this property several times over the years, beginning with our wedding night nearly 31 years ago. Unfortunately, after this most recent visit, we're reconsidering future stays.||We were in the Harbor Tower during an exceptionally busy time, with both the holiday and an on-site convention contributing to the crowds. While we understand high occupancy can strain operations, several aspects of our experience left us disappointed.||The property is clearly showing signs of age and is in need of significant updates. The bathrooms feel outdated, carpets in the hallways and elevator areas are noticeably worn, and the windows were so dirty they detracted from the view.||Elevator service was a major issue. On the evening of the 4th, one of the three elevators broke down while full of guests. Throughout the weekend, it appeared that only two of the three in the tower were operational, resulting in long waits—even during off-peak hours. Being on the 39th floor, taking the stairs simply wasn't an option.||We were also disappointed with the "Top of the Hyatt." What was once a refined spot for upscale cocktails and incredible views now feels more like a casual lounge. The former dress code has been abandoned, replaced by video games, neon signage, and a magnetic dart board. The once complimentary popcorn and mixed nuts are now a $12.95 appetizer— adding pickled vegetables.||While we understand that properties evolve, paying premium rates for a dated experience is hard to justify. We’re more than willing to walk a bit farther from the bay if it means staying somewhere that offers better value and upkeep.

I stayed here for 6 nights during a business trip, and I brought my wife and two small kids with me. The room was a bit small, but it ended up being sufficient for our stay. There was a fridge in our room and I requested a microwave which was delivered to the room for no fee. We had several requests for additional items during our stay, but each time the request was easy through the app or text message and delivery to the room was very fast. The elevators were available almost instantly even during peak times, and there is a filtered water filling station at each ice maker. The food at the hotel is pricey, but everything that we ate was very good! There is also a Ralphs grocery store just a short walk away. Next to some great restaurants as well. We had a great experience and would certainly return.

Disappointed Stay – Beautiful City, But Hotel Experience Fell Short I stayed at the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego for six nights and was truly looking forward to the experience. I paid extra specifically to secure a room with a bay view, expecting a premium experience that matched the cost and reputation of the hotel. While the check-in staff were warm and welcoming, the room I was given on the 28th floor was a major letdown. The room was noticeably old and worn – the carpet had a visible burn mark, the furniture was dated and scratched, the bathroom looked decades old, and even the closet doors barely functioned. For a hotel of this caliber, the condition of the room was extremely disappointing. Housekeeping services were also below expectations. Despite multiple follow-up calls, the room was not cleaned until late in the afternoon, and even then, the bathroom trash was left full. Additionally, basic room amenities were missing: no toothbrush or slippers, no bathrobe, and not even a tea kettle or tea bags – which was quite surprising for a supposed luxury hotel. To make things more frustrating, colleagues of mine checked in the day after I did and received newer, much better-maintained rooms, despite paying less than I did. The only difference? I had requested a sea view – and paid more for it – only to end up in one of the most outdated rooms. San Diego is a stunning city filled with kind and lovely people. It’s unfortunate that my hotel experience didn’t reflect the same level of warmth and quality. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and considers updating rooms and improving service consistency to match the expectations set by the brand and the price point.

We stayed here for a weekend and I was totally disappointed on the size of the room. We paid over $500 per night and I was hoping for a room that was spacious and with good view. Although we were in the 11th floor our view was not a sight to care for. Other than this, the lobby was pretty and the valet service was good- the location was great!

I came to San Diego for a conference at the San Diego Convention Center, and this hotel has an excellent location! 6 minute walk to the convention center and the Green line trolley stop is across the street which makes transportation easily accessible if you don’t have a car. Also it’s very close to Embarcadero and Seaport Village. Most importantly, the service at the Grand Hyatt Manchester was exceptional. From check in to check out, staff members go above and beyond at any step they can. The bell service desk is exceptional and they were able to store my huge e-bike. Special shout out to Jason and the guy with tattoos (sorry I wasn’t able to catch his name). I happened to stay with them during my birthday this year and they surprised me with dessert medley and a bottle of Brut. The hotel itself is gorgeous and the views from the rooftop pool and tennis courts were beautiful. Overall, I had an amazing stay at the Hyatt and this will be the only hotel I go to whenever I visit San Diego.

Google
Great place and great location. Unfortunately they nickel and dime you everywhere they can. Parking fee, resort fee, this fee, that fee, etc... For a $400 a night hotel, it's pretty nice, but it really should be a $200 night hotel, but the location drives it way higher. If you are on the company's dime, go for it. If you're paying out of pocket, there are definitely more hotels around that are much cheaper

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Grand Hyatt San Diego, and it truly lives up to its name! The moment you step into the lobby, you're struck by its grandeur - the high ceilings and spacious area make for a stunning first impression. The rooms are equally impressive, with comfortable and clean accommodations that exceeded my expectations. The hotel's downtown San Diego location is incredibly convenient, making it easy to explore the city's top attractions. During my stay in January, I took my kids to the Children's Museum and the amusement park, and we all had an amazing time. Overall, I highly recommend the Grand Hyatt San Diego for its exceptional service, prime location, and top-notch amenities. Can't wait to stay here again!

Yelp
My extended family and I all stayed at Manchester Grand Hyatt for a family reunion in San Diego. This hotel was beautiful and the rooms were comfy for myswld, my husband and our two kids. The amount of activities that come with your resort fee are quite impressive. Be sure to ask when checking in what they are! There is a lot to do at this resort with pools, lawn games, and even a huge lobby that my early waking daughter and I could sit in and play Uno until my son and husband woke up lol. The staff were all friendly and the breakfast buffet had plenty of options. The elevator system that this hotel has implemented is fantastic and fast IF there isn't a conference or a lot of people staying there. Our first night we could get anywhere in a few minutes. The weekend hit and there was a conference and it literally took 20 minutes to get an elevator. It was insane and frustrating. The hotel is connected to Seaport Village which has a lot of fun shopping and dining options and everything in Gaslamp is within walking distance. This is a great hotel to stay at - just be aware if it is busy that you might want to plan extra time buffers for their elevators.

Yelp
The hotel is really big. Overall I was pleased with my stay. The lobby and other facilities (gym, restaurants, etc) are good--- better than other hotels for sure. My room was clean, although it could use some TLC in some areas. Staff were nice and helpful, and the resort fee comes with some pretty cool things to do. Its in a very walkable location when visiting.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel!! I enjoyed my stay here so much that I didnt even want to check out! As soon as you enter the hotel, you are captivated by the amazing aroma in the air. This hotel smells absolutely amazing! My room was located on the 29th floor and the views were spectacular! I had a large suite, with a lovely living room, 2 bathrooms, a cute kitchen and dining room. The hospitality was top notch ! There is a nice market located in the lobby, as well as a gift shop. The on site restaurant, Sallys is so good that I dined there 3 times during my stay! This is definitely a great choice if you will be visiting San Diego!

Yelp
I stayed at the Grand Hyatt in October of 2024 while working at the Convention Center. Easy check in, clean and comfortable room, great view of the bay and downtown. I had a few occasions to utilize the room service, and they've done away with the formality, the rolling table, and awkwardness of having the server in your room. Now they just deliver the bag and you sign, nice and easy...and the food was great. Close to Seaport Village, the Embarcadero along the bay, the Gaslamp District and the rest of downtown. Would stay again if back in San Diego.

Yelp
Recent stay here for a business event. Hotel was impressive in size, decor and service. Restaurants on property were also high quality. Hotel property, rooms and dining locations were very clean and the staff wherever you encountered them were friendly and professional. Stayed in a king view room in harbor side. Room was well kept, bed comfortable and lots of amenities such as personal care items, bottle water, and plenty of towels. AC worked great and front desk would frequently greet me as I walked by between sessions. All employees seemed to be sincerely focused on service! Tried the gym during the 2 night stay. Lots of equipment, access to towels, included cardio and weights. Didn't use the pool but did check out the outdoor space on the 4th floor. Very nice and lots of room for families or for those desiring more private conversations. Recommend staying here if in the area.

Yelp
The hotel is conveniently located at the seaport village area which is famous for its waterfront walkway, restaurants and tourist attractions such as Midway and boat rides. The staff were very attentive and friendly, and the room was meticulously cleaned. We stayed at the suite which is quite spacious with 2 showers and bathrooms. No matter which side or tower you stay in, you will have views of either the city, harbor or even both if you are on the outer edge of each tower. There are plenty of amenities such as pool, gym, tennis courts and play areas. If you want to visit other places and don't want to drive, the MTS train station is just across the street and it can take you to other city attractions such as old town, little Italy, and as far as UTC or the boarder.

Yelp
VERY CLASSIC & ELEGANT! The Manchester Grand Hyatt gives a beautiful, traditional aesthetic to the San Diego skyline. It's a standout when you're walking through Seaport Village and the Embarcadero Harbor. It's always a pleasure visiting this hotel as it's so relaxing! This hotel is also very inclusive and welcoming to all sorts of guests! I worked in here during SDCC a couple times and the ballroom we worked in was so clean and comfortable. The hotel security was super polite and had fantastic customer service! I definitely want to return as it's a Comic Con staple. The Manchester has wonderful harbor views and a clear look at Coronado and all the SD surroundings. It's only a 5 min walk to the convention center! As for cons, The Manchester can be a bit pricey and I don't like their reduction in allotted rooms for Comic Con attendees. It's forcibly asking guests to pay full price for non-SDCC rooms as the very few reserved rooms sell-out quickly. I don't like that...

Yelp
Attentive service, great drinks and menu options. Dragon Roll did not disappoint. Kids cheeseburger and fries were on point. Perfect evening celebration!

Yelp
Another great stay at the Manchester Grand Hyatt. We came down for Comic-con to enjoy the Convention and see all the cos-players. The hotel was packed with weekend conventioneers. But by Monday they had all disappeared and the hotel was back to its normal relaxed atmosphere. On check in we were helped by Basel. He is a warm, helpful and hyper friendly, welcoming human being. He found us a lovely room and saw to all our needs. It is outstanding people like Basel that convince me of the value of Globalist status.

Yelp
Resort and parking fees, blah. Only one parking elevator was working. Soda at the bar for the kids, $6. The lobby is glamorous, very special. How will I ever swim in an unheated pool ever again? The air is chilly in the shade before noon, but feels a lot better when the sun comes out. The location to seaport village, the Children's Museum, even Petco were great. Plan to eat at Sally's.

Yelp
* Price: $350 and above. Resort fee $40+, self parking $45 per day, valet $65/ day. Level 5 point system. 5 star class. 3 stars * Accommodations: gym, heated pool, room service, buffet breakfast, onsite restaurant, inroom fridge, coffee makers, 2 bottle water daily, toiletries. Small room (340 square feet), flat screen TV with chrome cast to stream your shows, small sofa. 4+ stars. * location: good location, close to convention center, port of San Diego cruiseship terminal, Seaport village, Gas Lamp, etc. 4 stars. * Motif: veryvgrand lobby entrance, beautiful pool area. Room is clean, and modern but no balcony though. 4+ stars. * Service: The front desk is very nice and pleasant. Maintenance staff is friendly. 4 stars. We stayed here for 3 nights for a work meeting in SD. We booked our room through World of Hyatt site directly and booked a king bed with harbor view. The hotel staff communicated with us prior to our stay and waited for us since we checked in quite late. The room has a nice view of the harbor, Naval base. We saw several fight jets taking off the ship during our stay, which is amazing! The Seaport village is right outside of the hotel with some shops, restaurants, etc. There is a historic carousel in the village, $5 per person. Overall, it is a good place to stay for business, meeting, etc. What knocked off one star from my rating: - parking is expensive! - room is very small (340 square feet), small sofa, a desk, counter with some small drawers, and a small fridge, barely enough space to roll our suitcases in. Photo via website is a bit deceiving. The bathroom is very small. Lack of storage space. - no balconies - everything close by 9 pm.

Yelp
I've stayed here multiple times, and one of my stays it was horrible. My friend and I could not sleep due to people next door having a party at late night hours. I contacted the front desk, and security came. However, it did not stop them from continuing to be loud. I expressed my displeasure on how security handled the situation. Why? They should have asked all NON HOTEL guests to leave. Hyatt made it right with me, so I can't ding them for that. The amenities are great, especially the location. You can stroll around Seaport Village or make your way along portside. This time, our room had a bay view, and it was beautiful to see the water. The room was clean, and the water pressure was great. Overall, I'd definitely return if needing a hotel in San Diego. Check out The Top of the Hyatt for spectacular views of the Bay.

Yelp
The Day after Easter 2024, we had the privilege of calling the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego our home for 3 straight nights & the stay was simply top notch. Here's how it went down... My rockstar wife who always makes sure that all of our trips, our vacations, our holidays or even our mini vacays are a breeze... Made sure that this trip was to her normal standard and her pick on accommodations did not disappoint. Upon our arrival, the kids and I peered out our windows and all went "Dannnnnng" when we saw the hotel mommy had booked for our Spring Break vacay. As we pulled into the Grand entrance, my wife hopped out of the car to check us in while we waited in the vallet/drop off area. In less than 5 minutes, she was done checking in and we were ready to start a little R&R with the fam. Up to the 4th level of the parking garage, we unloaded our suitcases, made our way through the lobby and up to our room on the almost 40th floor... The view from our room was Primo!! (Half was the downtown skyline/half was the beautiful marina). During our stay, we went to the pool twice and the kids had a blast. (Definitely a nice size pool especially for the warmer months of the year). The location of the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego is centrally located and everything is either drivable or walkable. And if you feel like doing neither, come check out San Diego's Trolley (a station is located right across the street). Pro tip: take the trolley to Little Italy just a few stops away. Tons of great Italian spots to eat. This hotel definitely attracts a lot of business folk coming to various work conventions and/or conferences as well as being a family friendly hotel. Our experience was great and we had no issues during our 3 night stay. We definitely would return here for future stays in S.D.

Yelp
Recently stayed at this hotel and it was a nice experience! Was able to book a corner ocean view from and that made a world of difference. The room was great and the view was stunning. The bed was reasonably comfortable and we were able to go downstairs and walk over to seaport village for dinner. The front desk staff were very nice and helpful. Amenities are nice. Breakfast was included in our stay and that was average, the omelette bar was the highlight, everything else in the buffet was whatever. The location is great, very easy to get to gas lamp and little Italy bars and restaurants. Parking is $36/day.

Yelp
Spring Break check in with my 2 older teen sons for our annual vacation. This year we chose San Diego and this beautiful hotel was suggested via World of Hyatt. Valet parking runs $65/day. We checked in and there was a slight mix up with our room type but once it was cleared up, it worked out beautifully. Drew at the front desk was so helpful and informative on our way around and where to go/work the elevators. We got 2 rooms that are joined by a double size living area/dining room. It was perfect for my active special needs teen to move around and be happy. Plus having that 3rd full bathroom makes a huge difference with 2 large teens and mommy needing to all take showers at the same time. Absolutely perfect! There is also level 33 which serves the breakfast snacks and dinner along with drinks for those needing to unwind. We got there just in time for dinner foods and since we had just gotten in from Dallas, it was the perfect amount of food and the bonus...gluten free options! My kid was in Heaven! Again...absolutely perfect! We've been in the hotel 2 hours and we're already so comfortable and content! Our stay is 5 days (4 nights) and I'm expecting all great things. We had great interactions with the bar area waitstaff , the quick snack/coffee area, floor 33 and everyone we encountered. Breakfast upstairs on 33 has a ton of gluten free options/picky eater options. The kids were filled for our day adventures. The staff is also so nice and helpful there. ProbTip: Our last night in we were just exhausted from our adventures out so wanted to order room service. We tried to order via the QR code. Realized it was the same food we had downstairs in the bar area. My adult kid LOVED the wings so wanted to order more to the room. The order wouldn't be available to deliver for an hour! So I just went down to the bar, ordered them directly and was back upstairs with wings in hand in 15 minutes. Happy kid. My other teen kid ordered door dash. Easy and fast meals! Overall this is a really GREAT hotel! Will be our go to next time we're in town! Definitely!

Yelp
The hotel staff were excellent! Alessandra who checked us in was polite, helpful, and offered lots of information and recommendations for the area. She made sure we knew about all the amenities afforded to us before we left the desk. The guys at the bell station during our stay were also SUPER helpful and very attentive. Ulyses and Lee took great care of us during our stay and were so careful with our fragile bag we left for a few hours after check out to walk around downtown before departing. We didn't get the chance to check out the lobby bar, but the coffee shop was great! The staff were hospitable and the coffee was fresh and well made. Our experience at the rooftop bar was the reason for not giving 5 stars. The service was slow, the drinks were mediocre, and the prices didn't seem appropriate for the quality. All in all, we would definitely return, but likely skip the rooftop bar next time.

Yelp
I called the Manchester Grand my home for five days in April while on business. It isn't the kind of place I would opt to stay in vacation, but it was perfect while attending the conference. Elevators were quick and I appreciated their security features (enter the floor and tap your room key to access). The grounds were well maintained and all spaces were clean. I watched The Hangover at the Rooftop Cinema, which was really fun! Comfortable Adirondack chairs and a beautiful view of the city skyline. Pro tip - bring a blanket, even if you don't think you'll need it. Conveniently located across from Seaport Village and walkable to the Gaslamp District. Looking forward to future conference opportunities here!

First visit to the Manchester Hyatt - an impressive property with amazing views. The staff is so friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Give this place consideration if you're in the San Diego area!

Yelp
I wholeheartedly recommend the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego - it's a solid 10/10! The property is stunning, with impeccable service from a truly incredible staff. The rooms were spotless; housekeeping maintained pristine conditions throughout my stay, which was especially comforting after long days at a convention. The beds are extremely comfortable, though the pillows are down, which aren't my favorite. However, the hotel was quick to accommodate my request for non-feather pillows, sending up replacements immediately. Pre-dinner champagne at The Landing was a delight with crisp selections served by JoJo, our super attentive waitress. The breakfast buffet is another highlight, offering a delicious array of options with sweet and attentive waiters ensuring a pleasant start to the day. The front desk manager also went above and beyond in assisting us with packages shipped for our convention, ensuring everything was smoothly handled. A special mention goes to the Balmain bathroom amenities - a luxurious touch that truly enhanced my overall experience. Attention to detail is clearly a priority here. The views from the hotel are stunning, and while my fifth-floor room view was limited due to my request for adjacent rooms with a coworker, higher floors are highly recommended for the best vistas. If you're visiting San Diego and looking for a top-notch experience with excellent amenities and service, the Manchester Grand Hyatt should definitely be on your list.

Yelp
Beautiful building... clean & well maintained, inside and out. Great location & venue. Event space for days in every size & location. I attended a 4-day conference, so my review only related to the events experience. I could not afford a room, even the discounted rate for 3 nights was $1785 before taxes. Food was plentiful and presented well. There were a good variety & everything was tasty. The banquet (plated) salmon & steak were overcooked, but these are my only complaints. My fave dishes were the yogurt dessert & the oatmeal + coconut breakfast. DELISH!! Coffee was very good, so there's no reason to buy it outside the hotel. Staff was always helpful and nice -- in every department. Negative (aside from room rates): the sewer gas smell in the women's restroom on the harbor level. OMG.. it was foul, toxic, and caused typical symptoms (nausea, dizziness, headache). The bathroom was clean, so the issue was directly related to the lack of circulated air and / or an issue with the drains. Staff was notified twice without any change to the air quality.

Yelp
Kind of overpriced for what you get. Beautiful building and views, but thats where it stops. Riding on the brand name, little is offered to your amenities. Anything you can think of, guaranteed, it is over prices. I've traveled to much better hotels for cheaper and better accommodations.

Yelp
Manchester Grand Hyatt is a great hotel to stay in if you're attending an event or vacationing in downtown San Diego. There are rooms that offer beautiful views of the city or the water, and you're right next to Seaport Village with ample opportunities for fun. You're just a short walk away from Gas Lamp and East Village. The staff are kind and the rooms are clean with all the travel necessities. Not to mention the hotel has a rooftop sport center and theatre.

Yelp
I've stayed in quite a few hotels, but my recent stay at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego really left an impression. I was in town for a convention, and from the moment I walked in, I knew this was going to be a great experience. The Room & View: My room was perfect--spotless and comfortable, with housekeeping making sure everything was just right every single day. But the highlight? That view! I could see the downtown skyline, the marina with all the sailboats, and even the ocean stretching out in the distance. It was the kind of view that makes you want to just sit back and take it all in. The Amenities & Staff: Everything about the hotel was top-notch, but the staff truly made it special. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely seemed to care about making my stay as enjoyable as possible. I never felt awkward or out of place asking questions--no matter how small. They made me feel like a valued guest, which is exactly what you want when you're away from home. The Hotel: The entire hotel was immaculate, from the lobby to the hallways and everything in between. They clearly take pride in keeping the place in pristine condition. Even parking, which can sometimes be a hassle, was easy and stress-free. This place is now my go-to whenever I'm in San Diego. I've found my home away from home, and I'm already looking forward to my next stay. If you're visiting the area, do yourself a favor and book here--you won't regret it!

Love the awesome hotel and thanks to my girlfriends who celebrated my birthday. Everything went well. Food was great and the view was tremendous beautiful. Service was 5/5. I will always come to this hotel for this wonderful San Diego.

Yelp
Price: 3* Ambience: 4* Service: 5* Location: 5* Attended ASU+GSV conference here. This hotel is comfortable and has excellent service. Very close to great restaurants in Seaport village. The conference rooms are many and across multiple floors. The pool deck is nice and has great views. It is strange how that two towers are situated to the sides and not facing the bay directly, but other than that a great property.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here this past weekend and it was fabulous! We upgraded to the 20th floor and had a beautiful Waterview. The staff was amazing and the service was outstanding. We were there with my husband for fraternity so there were about 2000 to 3000 people there. I don't have one bad thing to say about this place. I'm not sure why the reviews are so bad because we had an amazing time. It was fabulous.

Yelp
Overall the Manchester Grand Hyatt would receive five stars but due to the lack of Waiters and or waitresses at the pool they have decided to require each one of the pool patrons to use your phone at the pool and scan the barcode order your food. Now when you order your food if you order french fries and you ask for extra ketchup packets normally a total of four ketchup packets would not be sufficient but since there is no waiter or waitress you must go to the one location of the bar to request more ketchup packets or possibly anything else that you would need. So I get that in California you have to pay a person $20 an hour for a waiter or waitress in the Manchester Grand Hyatt is trying to save money my thought is if somebody can afford to stay at the Manchester Grand Hyatt then they don't mind paying an extra 4 to $6 for said Burger just just a thought

Yelp
From check-in with Jonah at the World Hyatt desk to check out with Michelle (by phone), we had an amazing experience! Jonah gave us a warm greeting and was able to check us in earlier. Michelle gave us a later checkout, something we needed after last night's New Year's Eve celebration . We had a nice view of the Downtown San Diego skyline as well as of San Diego Bay. The Balmain Paris line of shampoos, conditioners, soaps and lotion was nothing short of good taste in a classy product. The Manchester Grand Hyatt team stopped nothing short of, well...a grand experience. Thank you all so much for making our last day of 2023 and our first day of 2024 comfortable, relaxing and memorable. We will be back!

Yelp
Always enjoy our stay here. Front desk staff is terrific and the Regency Club is always easy for some snacks & drinks.

Yelp
I enjoyed a holiday weekend here. The housekeeper was great. It was easy to text the hotel staff for extra towels. And the club room access was on point! Very close to a cool dog park and playground for kids. I'd come back again! Did not go into the pool because it looked very crowded but the gym facilities were excellent.

Yelp
We stayed here for the 4th of July weekend and while there was one huge plus, there were a handful of negatives. I'm giving grace that the craziness of the holiday caused the unfavorable experience and that this isn't their normal operation. Arriving/checking in about 4 hours prior to the San Diego Bay Big Bay Boom definitely did not help our situation since the resort hosts a viewing event from their pool deck and their prime location to the bay. Pulling up into their driveway, it's evident that it's way too short and caused traffic to back up into the main road way. Self parking was full and valet struggled. No one initially was directing any traffic and it took us about 15 - 20 minutes to get someone from valet assistance and a bellman for our bags. The baggage carts are only for bell service use and is not a help yourself deal. Once we were in the lobby, talk about grand. The vaulted ceiling is an understatement and you would think you are looking up in a European church like structure. Very bright and primarily white palette gives the space an airy and clean feel. World of Hyatt members have it's own designated line but there was only one agent at the check in counter and the general check-in line moved faster. We reserved a city view room with a king bed and despite checking in at around 5 pm, our room was not yet ready. Our agent offered us an upgrade and despite being two twin beds, it was a bay view which was the highlight of our stay. There are two towers that is separated by the lobby. The elevator was a nightmare. It's a little different from your standard button array and requires your room key. The system looks to calculate capacity and distributes guests into different elevators. It doesn't seem to account for luggage, strollers, etc... because we missed the first two elevators. Again, the holiday weekend festivities likely contributed to the madness so I'll hope that it's normally a really good system. The room was nice as we were located on the 26th floor. The glass table and swivel chairs by the window was a nice touch to enjoy the view, a meal or a drink. The view out to the bay was surely the crown jewel and a provided a great experience for our family to witness the fireworks show. We tried to order room service but it we were told it would take about 2 hours; estimated delivery would be around 11 pm! Good thing we prepared and brought lots of snacks. A large wall mounted flatscreen tv, a small refrigerator hidden behind a cabinet door below the tv was welcomed and no adjoining room door was great. The bedding were comfortable but the pillows were too soft in my opinion. I had to turn one of the bed mattresses because one was sunken in more on one end. The bathroom was spacious, the sink was cracked and there was a really nice LED mirror. The shower/tub combo was great for bathing the kids but the water pressure was like a fire hydrant. The diverter valve needs to be changed in the spout because just as much water came out as there was from the shower head and the tub couldn't drain fast enough which meant you stood in about 1 - 2" of water as you showered. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash is provided via hand pumps mounted in the bath for convenience. Upon checkout, we waited over 20 minutes for bellman service who never showed despite calling twice but we managed to haul all our luggage downstairs in one trip. I tried calling down to valet a half dozen times to let them know we'd be checking out but I kept getting a busy tone. Erroneous self parking charges appeared on our invoice despite using valet, thankfully this was remedied quickly after speaking with guest services. High marks for cleanliness and location. The high cost for grocery items and alcohol at their Market in the lobby for convenience is ridiculous. 750ml bottles of wine commonly found in grocery stores were marked up 2 - 3x. Despite being a busy holiday weekend, you would think that the hotel has been through this before and staffs accordingly but it seems like a lot still can be learned and scheduling needs to surely be reviewed. An extremely large resort needs to be able to accomodate their guests timely and efficiently regardless of holidays/special events and had it not been for the room upgrade, my rating would have been lower which is quite sad for a 4-star hotel/resort. I hope management takes this kind of information to heart to offer its guests an unforgettable experience that they are expecting. Would I stay here again? I would surely give it another chance perhaps during an off-season time but makes me wish we had stayed at a neighboring location this time.

Yelp
Stayed here for 3 nights for family vacation. We wanted to go somewhere special for our 3yo's first time flying. San Diego is one of our favorite places and is just an hour of flight time from OAK. The Manchester Grand Hyatt is right next to Seaport Village and Convention Center, so its an easy walk to the Gas Lamp district. The hotel rooms were clean, and there are plenty of amenities: onsite 24/7 convenience store, a Sports Bar, and a Gastropub. For breakfast buffet, there's the Seaview. The check-in lobby is huge with super high ceilings and plenty of places to sit. My energetic son got his steps in running from one tower to the other. The only negative is the high cost of parking, but that's probably an issue with all hotels on prime location. $48/night or so on a large, multi-storied self-park garage.

Yelp
What a fantastic hotel. There was absolutely nothing I could complain about. We booked a two night stay on a whim and so glad we chose this hotel. Booked directly on the site and got a package that included daily parking (a relief in downtown sd). Location is excellent, next to seaport village, Embarcadero, and a 15 min walk to the uss midway. The hotel amenities were amazing! Heated pool, two hot tubs, a well equipped fitness center, basketball/pickleball/shuffleboard courts on one level - kids loved that! It's a gorgeous hotel as well, massive, clean, and top notch customer service. Eric at the front desk went above and beyond to make check in smooth, and provided all the info so we would have a good time. Cecelia in housekeeping is a gem!! We will come back over and over and over again.

Yelp
We stayed 1 night. We had a great room on the 26th floor, a corner room, with excellent views on 2 sides, ocean view and city view. I loved that we could crack the windows to get fresh air. We had a king size bed that was comfortable and clean. Loved all white linens, firm and soft pillows. The Baumain toiletries were great. Loved the smells. Cons: the layout was strange, our bed faced a window but a large desk blocked our view. I think the desk could be moved to the solid wall next to the bed and the TV could be angled in the corner so it doesn't obstruct the amazing view. I felt the room could have been cleaner. We noticed balls of hair and dust behind the couch and the bathroom floor was dirty. Unfortunately our stay was cut short when an "emergency alarm" went off and we were told to evacuate the building via stairs, mind you we were on the 26th floor. We got to the 2nd floor and a staff member told us it was a false alarm. Ugh so annoying. Then when we attempted to take an elevator to our car in the parking garage, the elevator wasn't working so we had to walk another 5 stories to get to our car. All before 8 am :(. And to top it off when we tried exiting the parking garage, we were told to use our room key at the exit so we would get comped our parking fee, it didn't work. Luckily the "press for assistance " button got us someone over the parking speaker, who helped us out, without having to pay the $45 parking fee. Overall it was a beautiful hotel and the views really made up for the disappointing ending to our stay. We may be back.

Yelp
Fantastic hotel located on the San Diego waterfront right next to Seaport Village and steps away from the Gaslamp. Classy hotel with great views of San Diego. Rooms are modern with comfortable beds. Decent soundproofing, considering you are in downtown with a nearby airport and naval base. Plenty of food options in the hotel and nearby. Parking garage is connected to the hotel, so you can self park or have someone valet for you. I'd definitely come back because this place has the location, the comfort, the amenities, and high level of service.

Yelp
My wife and I were looking for a quick overnight staycation here in San Diego, so we decided to try out the grand Hyatt. We were able to get a decent rate through Hotwire and booked the room last minute without hassle. Hotwire can sometimes be a gamble, but this time it paid off. Having lived in San Diego for many years, this was a hotel we have never been in and I was very impressed. From the valet parking attendant and person helping us from behind the desk, our first impressions were really customer service friendly. I was also really impressed at how nice the lobby looked which is why I took a picture of it. Our room had a really cool view of both downtown San Diego on the right in the bay on the left. Best of both worlds. The bed was comfortable and the room was large enough to not feel cramped, which we loved. We were not able to stay long enough to take advantage of all the hotel options like the pool, spa, gym, etc., hopefully next time we will be able to do so. We were able to frequent a restaurant just outside the hotel called Sally's Fish House and loved it. We liked it so much, we brought a group back a few weeks later. That reminds me, I probably need to leave them a review. Lol. I think the best compliment we could leave this hotel is we wouldn't mind coming back again. Hopefully we will.

Yelp
Top service. I left something a personal belonging at the hotel, when I got home I realized and called the hotel. Security retrieved the item and mailed it to me on a next day delivery. I consider this top service. The room was cleaned and fresh, customer service was outstanding. The gym was roomy and clean, machines worked just fine. Top service at gym too. I didn't like that they charge 5% at the bar for additional fees, that the only thing I didn't like. Plenty of parking, hotel is located in a great area.

Yelp
Good evening I originally stayed for 3 nights it was my birthday vacation and from the beginning when we checked in our room wasn't ready and the lovely front desk clerk said she would text me when our room was ready that was an hour and a half later got checked in and the heater wasn't working called down to front desk and they didn't send anyone till the next morning so Miguel from maintenance came to fix the heater and the filter was so nasty I really have bad allergies and Miguel apologized about the filter then I went down to front desk to see if we could change rooms but they said no because of occupancy then there was a bad leak up under our sink I just feel if you are going to spend up to 250 a night things should be working correctly.

Yelp
Wow the penthouse was so beautiful! We stayed here for a bachelorette weekend and decided to splurge on the penthouse room for a super deal, scored by one of the bridesmaids who had status with Grand Hyatt. Perfect for a larger party (there were five of us). There is one king-size bed but we were told we can ask for unlimited number of roll-away beds. The hotel is very walkable to Little Italy, the convention center, Petco Park, Seaport Village, USS Midway, etc. I've often walked through the lobby whenever visiting Seaport Village, going to the baseball game, or up to the rooftop bar here. It's fun to have finally stayed at the actual hotel. There is a quick place to grab breakfast downstairs before checking out. The hotel staff were very accommodating and excellent. Thank you!

Yelp
The building's architecture and the view were amazing, and the elevators were super fast, which was a nice perk. Unfortunately, the room itself wasn't quite up to par for such a high-end place. It seemed like it could use some renovation and a bit more thorough cleaning. The outlet covers were yellowed with age, and the bathroom had a cracked sink and a weak toilet flush. There were stains on the walls (I don't want to think it was blood but it seemed like it could be), hair in the bathroom and on the blanket. Although I liked Balmain body care. In-room dining wasn't great either. I ordered a burger with bacon, which had hidden charges. They do mention that on the menu but still, the check ended up being almost twice the menu price. To top it off, the burger was burnt (bun and meat both) and the onions were raw even though the menu said they were grilled.

Yelp
I have mixed feelings about my recent stay at Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego. It did not live up to standards from my past Grand Hyatt stays. The single use lotion that was stocked in the bathroom was clearly used and expired by over a year (expiration date of December 2022 with recent stay in December 2023). This definitely gave me the ick and made me uncomfortable using the toiletries provided. Luckily I brought my own and resorted to using mine instead. In addition, there were no bath towels in the bathroom and it took multiple calls to housekeeping to get towels delivered to the room. The view from the room was beautiful and that was the only redeeming feature of my stay. The King club access room offered entry to the private 33rd floor where light snacks and desserts were provided during evening hours and breakfast with hot coffee or tea during morning hours. Self parking was $45 additional per day and daily destination fee was $44 (after tax). For the steep prices, I felt the experience was unfortunately lackluster.

Yelp
Stayed 3 nights for a large conference hosted at this hotel. I was worried that the front desk lines would be long and elevators would be busy. I was surprised to find the exact opposite. I had a very pleasant stay in a corner room with beautiful views of the bay and Seaport Village. I was only on the 10th floor but the view was still very nice. Actually felt higher than 10th floor. Floor to ceiling windows with both blackout and translucent roll down shades. In the hottest part of noon, it's great to have the shades all rolled up, but I found the AC didn't get cold enough to compensate for the amount of sun that came into the room. Plenty of storage if you unpack like me. Lots of power outlets throughout particularly on side tables and desk. I'm glad they provided ample amounts of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion. Saves from having to call housekeeping to bring more, especially since I opted for no housekeeping.

Yelp
Nice fancy hotel with great amenities and pool and fantastic views. Takes a second to get to your room if you are higher up so ask for a lower room if you are in a rush to get in and out. Super spacious driveway which was very nice and close to the convention center.

Yelp
Well, good and not so good. The hotel presents well, nice lobby, fabulous amenities, location great. But for the pricing and presentation the rooms are just okay. Ours was quite basic and in need of repairs and updates. The bathroom mirror was cracked, as was the sink. The shower wouldn't drain well and the grout was stained blue. There were also a bunch of cobwebs in the corner of the bathroom. The beds were fairly comfortable, but closing in on expiration, as I found myself in a bit of a trough. The views from the room were great, as we could see the water but also the great outdoor amenities: pool, courts, movie theater, deck, ping pong etc. If you plan to watch any tv it's very limited, very few channels. The food at the bar downstairs was pretty good, at the market it was hit or miss. We did partake in breakfast room service, and I must say it arrived fast & hot and was pretty good. There are aspects, like amenities, views and walkability, that can't be beat. But overall the rooms could stand some work.

Yelp
I have stayed in many of the hotels in the DT and all the ones along the harbor area. This one is my favorite. I felt the value and my check-in experience stood out from the Hilton and Marriott brand. I wished I recalled the person who checked me in at the member line. She offered to make reservations for the harbor cruise while I checked in. Anyhow, I started staying at Hyatt this year since we are diamond and platinum with the other 2 chains. So far, I find their front desk people to be much more hospitable than the other 2 across the entire chain. Definitely give this place a try.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I was here for 7 days for a work trip and appreciated the closeness to the convention center but also the closeness to the harbor, seaport village and the gaslamp quarter. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I had a great view overlooking the harbor facing the USS Midway. The restaurant options on site were convenient, along with having a FedEx in the hotel. The market had a delicious protein smoothie and the lines moved quickly. Room service also had great food options especially after a long day of meetings. The one thing to be aware of is potentially long elevator wait times. This hotel is massive and the time I went was particularly busy with tradeshow s, conferences and meetings. It's not bad if you plan accordingly, give yourself 20+ minutes to go down/up elevators during peak times.

Yelp
This is a city hotel located on the harbor. The location and view is excellent. My father-in-law arranged a four-day and three-night family trip, so we stayed here for three nights. The room is large and comfortable. I am particularly satisfied with the view of the entire harbor from the room. By the way, this is my first time staying at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in America. I have stayed at this name brand in other countries.
