Mandarin Bar

The service was amazing. They offered to take our coats and bags when we sat down. We ordered the cosmo 75 and it was lovely. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was pleasant. Would definitely recommend getting drinks here.

We had a couple drinks here prior to our Christmas lunch at the restaurant and one more drink each after the lunch. Staff are friendly and welcoming with smiles. Salty truffle flavoured mixed nuts and green olives are served with our cocktails. The bar was very packed for Christmas Day and the noise level was high. Overall, lychee Martini and classic negorni were delicious.

Happy Friday dear people! 🤗 Weekend is here are you excited? I sure am! Today, I had my spa appointment at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and decided to give a try to some food. Mandarin Bar was my first choice. As you might expected from me, I ordered my dessert first. 😂 They have one desert it is a chocolate cookie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. It’s freshly baked and it was delicious. Had macchiato as well and the coffee was nicely done. After that had some snacks. Caesar salad with prawns was great. Prawns were nicely grilled and soft. The two pieces of anchovies you see, were amazing and actually smoked! I don’t love anchovies and oh boy was I nicely surprised how delicious they were! You must try it! Korean chicken was not that good, and it was missing something and some of the pieces were overcooked so the crispness you could not enjoy and eat it frankly. Needs more seasoning with the sauce. Korean chicken is recognized because of the sauce and crispness.The chips that I was so excited about did not meet my satisfaction. Crispy but no taste! You need to fix that. The mushroom ketchup sounded amazing and different to me, but that did not happened. No mushroom taste at all. Needs improvement and we know how delicious mushrooms can be! My fave were tuna tacos. Fresh with sesame seeds on top. Just keep in mind they are very small. You get four pieces. My drink called Yang was very nice, and chips and nuts were complementary, interestingly seasoned and went well with the drink. Customer service on point! Nice atmosphere too.

Having spent the day in Knightsbridge with a friend, we decided to sit down for cocktails at the Mandarin Oriental. The place is stylish and nicely decorated, as you’d expect from a 5-star establishment. The staff are friendly, kind and attentive, and helped my friend charge her phone after she forgot to bring her cable with her. We very much enjoyed our cocktails and the general ambiance. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed my old fashion in a prestigious, Luxurious bar. A must have experience

I went to this place called Mandarin Garden and the vibe was really cool. Most of the staff were friendly and provided great service, but a couple of them were not so nice. The sun was shining right in my eyes, so I asked the waiter if I could switch tables, but there were no available tables. I then asked for an umbrella like the other customers had, but the waiter refused, saying it was for another table, even though it was empty. I even asked to wait for another table, but she rudely said no, do you want me to remove the sun and she laughed. Later, I found out that she was in charge of the indoor restaurant, not the garden. Also, when I made the reservation, no one told me that it would be £50 per person, which ended up making my bill £250 for just coffee and cake. Overall, I'd rate my experience a 5 out of 10.

This bar inside of the Mandarin hotel offers a great selection of cocktails with a pristine service. The place is not cheap of course, but you definitely get what you pay for it!

This is a very quiet bar whuch offers lovely cocktails. It is quite dark which some people would like. Personally I feel that the blue bar at the dorchester is better but it can difficult at time to be able to get a drink there. I don't feel you would have same issue here. Compared to all other establishments in this hotel this one falls slightly short. I say this because I do feel they need to do something with the decor. The service was exceptional. My cocktail was fun even though small. I cannot remember the name but it was one of their signatures. It did come with the drama (as pictures). I would recommend a signature of the rest because there is a bit more dramatic flair.

White wines were awful, Negroni was made with half measures, paid 100 pound for three drinks. Rest was good, staff was friendly. Ambiance was okay but there weren't many people in the bar, it was easy to find a place to sit on a Thursday night.

The prices are steep and the drinks aren't deep..

Very comfortable bar. A great place to grab your pre-dinner cocktail before dining at Dinner by Heston Blumenthal. Very nice, friendly, and engaging employees. They offer the best of the best spirits and wine.

The right place to have a decent conversation and some delicious cocktails I had Dame Shirley hehe made with champagne raspberries and vodka omg it's delicious, maitai, mojitos and old fashions great night so far, I'm definitely coming back :)

Felt like royalty hanging out at this bar. The service is impeccable. Dress to impress because the patronage is definitely trendy.

Most luxury hotel bars are either sleepy places with a piano and some dude singing jazz standards or they are ultra-luxury places with high ceilings and table / bottle service only. The Mandarin Bar thankfully is not either of those. The room is a smallish space with a collection of couches and comfy chairs sprinkled around a u-shaped bar. The décor is sleek and very modern and the music was some hip electronic lounge stuff. Another nice touch is that the doorman / host was not some menacing figure, wearing all black. He was a friendly, nice little man who welcomed people warmly at the door and quickly moved chairs around and did his best to seat each party individually. There was a great drink menu with their own concoctions as well as a deep selection of booze. This is a good option if you are looking to go out for drinks in the evening at a very nice place, but don't want to make a huge deal of it.

Nightlife at the Mandarin Bar is truly an air. Its a heady mix of sexiness, power and ego. The so called 'money loaded' folks visit this chic and expensive place-to-be-seen-at bar and then the horse whispering begins. I enjoy my cocktails with a friend and secretly I'm always amused with the slight stiffness of the alertness of presenting oneself at all times. Always well dressed in smart casuals; unless your Amy Winehouse, I'm not sure how they would take to her. However, a gentle warning of the class of women who are keen to bed a rich one for the night. You never know. It does explain the middle aged men walking in single and then leaving with partners. Well, I couldn't care less, to each his own! But try one of their cuban cigars and special cocktails.

Fantastic five-star hotel overlooking Hyde Park from Knightsbridge. So many things to love here, I'm not quite sure where to begin. From an events perspective, the Ballroom, Rosebury and Loggia rooms are magnificent, traditional and elegant areas for weddings, meetings etc. From the minute you step into the lobby the level of service is sensational. I was most recently here attending a summer agents party which saw the Ballroom set up with a food station of duck pancakes, great baskets overflowing with fresh strawberries, clotted cream and sugar and an afternoon tea display of the most delicate coloured macaroons imaginable. While newworking on the outdoor terrace we were kept in a constant supply of fish and chips finger food. But as only Mandarin can do - this was superb fish and chips. Small funnels of black and white printed hotel news with the fan logo on the front contained five combos of seafood - battered lobster claw / scallops / cod / mussels or prawns with chips. A tour of the bedrooms revealed spacious quarters from the hotel's distant past as a gentleman's club. The crowning glory is the brand new Royal Suite, a 3-bedroom modern hideaway in muted greys and marble with its own huge terrace and a steam room / whirlpool in the master bathroom. A stint in the ground floor Mandarin Bar is the place to be seen whilst sipping £15.00 cocktails, but the lower ground Bar Boulud is a vibrant brasserie with open kitchen and is packed to the gills on weekends. Biggest news will be the Heston Blumenthal restaurant opening in December to replace the Park Restaurant. Ultimately, if I could live here, I would!

Nice place with good drinks, very nice staff and serviceminded people. I had a great time with my friends and can recommend it!

I would have expected much more from a restaurant that is located in a 5-star hotel. The waiters are apparently unable to effectively serve a table of 12 - when the starters arrived, three people were missing their duck spring rolls. The whole table waited nearly 15 minutes for the remaining starters to be served - and during that time the table across the room was served four portions of duck spring rolls. When the missing spring rolls were finally served, not one word of apology was offered from the head waiter. My roast duck salad was sickly sweet and the 'salad' was rocket salad and a few tiny pieces of chicoree - i would have expected a bit more variety. The main course also had the whole table waiting for nearly ten minutes until everyone was served and again the waiters were consfused - a plate of something i had not ordered was plunked down in front of me and then whisked away when the waiter realised that it belonged to the person next to me. I had ordered a medium-rare steak and was served a medium steak - dry meat that was only lukewarm after waiting for everyone to be served. The highlight of the whole meal was the dessert - i had a scrummy pumpkin sticky toffee pudding and everyone else was happy with their dessert as well. In a nutshell, compliments to the pastry cook and the sommelier (the wines were lovely). But the rest - the service, the starters and the main courses - there is some work to be done to get the food and service to an acceptable standard, unless the hotel management has decided that it will not make an effort and rely on the tourists who stay in the hotel. I certainly know that i will not be craving their lukewarm, dry steaks anytime soon! But I might drop by for a dessert and coffee, should my sweet tooth be aching.

Everything about this place is simply the best. The staff are so helpful, the food on offer is first class, the rooms are fab and the restaurants & functions service is done by people who are proud of what they are doing. Always a first choice.

I can't imagine many people have jumped up and down on the bed in the opulent suite I stayed in at the impeccable Mandarin Oriental in Knightsbridge, let alone belted out an Aretha Franklin song while doing it. My friend and I just couldn't resist having a bit of a rock star moment though between sips of Champagne in the suite, which overlooks Hyde Park. It was the stuff of dreams: vast, plush, tasteful and the ideal setting for an ultra indulgent girls' night. As a former journalist who has stayed in dozens of luxury hotels in the name of research, I can honestly say the Mandarin is one of my favourites. Even though it's part of a chain, their London hotel in Knightsbridge oozes character and a rather grand, quintessential English elegance. The Mandarin also specialises in superlative service -something that's mostly missing in London. Don't even think about staying here though without visiting their Michelin starred Foliage restaurant. I suppose you'd describe the cuisine as modern British but that really doesn't convey the delicate artistry involved and the exquisite flavours and combinations used. Even if it's ever so slightly lacking in atmosphere depending when you visit, the food more than makes up for it.

I recently attended a daytime conference at this venue and did not have the pleasure of stopping overnight, but from what I saw and the service I received I can only assume that this place would provide a very comfortable and pampered stay. The buiding inside is well decorated and the staff there to greet me were impeccably turned out and very friendly and helpful. On arrival to the seminar I was greeted once more by some friendly staff and offered the choice from more varieties of tea than I knew existed, naturally I went for coffee just to be sure! Venue was on the small side for the seminar I attended, but this may well have been a reflection of the choice of those laying on the seminar rather than the hotel facilities. Located in Knightsbridge it was also easy to get to places such as Harrods and only a short trip to enjoy a lunch in Mayfair afterwards.

The Mandarin is a fantastic hotel, with amazing facilities.The spa is pampering and welcomes you to indulge in all things that are good for you! The rooms are beautiful very welcoming and suitable fo whatever purpose you need them for, be it a business trip or a vacation.Wonderful location in Knightsbrige, close to all the entertainment and shopping.

A delightful place to have a drink with friends and enjoy the excellent wine and food. its also a favourite with celebrities too so when you are there you are bound to see a few famous faces. As always the mandarin offers consistent excellent service and lovely comfortable rooms wherever you go.

A really comfortable bar inside the Mandarin Oriental. A very friendly, professional staff that makes you feel welcome from the time you enter. The drinks and bar snacks are quite excellent.

I went here in Jan 2011 with my boyfriend for a cup of tea in the afternoon in the bar area, it was lovely. The service was great as staff were very friendly and attentive as soon as we came in we were welcomed. The bar area had comfortable settees and a nice tranquil environment, although there was no park view as the restaurant next door does. I ordered an earl grey pot of tea, which was made from fresh leaves, this came with complimentary chocolate chip and plain shortbread. My boyfriend ordered fresh orange juice which was definately freshly squeezed and tasted great. When we sat down we were given complimentary caramalised nuts in a bowl and kettle chips. The food was very good. We asked to look around a few rooms, and although they were nice, I didn't think they looked as special as the ones advertised. Also there is no swimming pool.

"Better imagined than experienced - poor service and drinks" Recently took a stunning companion with a taste for cocktails to this bar as a prelude to dinner reservation at the excellent bar Boulud (already reviewed) within the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. From the website this bar looks and sounds impressive but on arrival it fails to really live up to the visual impression created by the site style or the reviews I have read. The decor is really rather stark and cold, a lot of glass and dark wood and the best part is the view into the Heston Blumenthal restuarant adjacent to it. We were almost the only people in this bar at 5:30pm approx and there was zero atmosphere. The cocktail menu reads well, prices from £15 upwards which some have reviewed as high but on the same level as say the Donovan Bar at Browns or the Savoy bars. However the similarity stopped there. Our eastern european waitress had the glazed and impersonal 'bored' stare that discloses either an inner disdain for customers or a boredom with the job towards the end of a shift, or both, and was totally unhelpful when I pointed out the rather miserly portion of red wine she poured me, giving me the dogmatic cop out of ' well that's the measure' and walking off. My companion's cocktail 'Mai Tai' was so over strong it was undrinkable for a while until the ice melted and had been merely shaken with cubed ice and all too quickly poured. The glass was over decorated with mint which infused a completely wrong taste to this cocktail, the fruit juice element was barely minimal and the drink was a faded colour, and tasted unblended and crude. For a £17 cocktail it was a wholly failed effort and I could have mixed far better at home . My companion struggled to drink or enjoy this and she left most of it. When the sour faced waitress undermeasured me on my second glass of wine and completely ignored my question, she noticed the unfinished drink and after my comments saying it 'wasnt right and why' she gave us an agressive snapped reply 'well if you had said something right at the start I might have done something about it but now you have drunk some of it it's too late' and flounced off again. This was barely good pub service level let alone 5 star cocktail bar expectations. Interestingly my companion's later cocktail and our service in bar Boulud was excellent. It's often said one's staff are the best and worst adverts for your business and in this case it was the worst. Bill for 2 very miserly undermeasures of average red wine and one poorly made disappointing cocktail was £32.. I did not want to pay any service charge at all but I didn't want to spoil our night with any actual 'complaint' I doubt we would now bother to go back to the Mandarin Bar again despite the hotel being a fine place, and in fact after dinner we went back to Brown's instead for the next cocktail. 2 star service if that, and 1 star cocktail quality - the experience ruined by both. When I visited the hotel as a guest I had already seen it many times in passing and admired its beautiful exterior but here I was booking in and looking forward to all it had to offer which is plenty. Inside this beautiful hotel you are presented with a stunning hallway and reception area where we were handed our key to our room, we were splashing out and really treating ourselves by staying in a suite for the four nights but there are plenty rooms to choose from. The suite we were staying in was breathtaking, on entering the room I just looked at my fiancée who was staring open mouthed at the room before her and we knew we were somewhere higher class than anywhere we had stayed before.

Wonderful bar serving great drinks and The Fountain Rest. serves superb modern cuisine with panache and exemplary service, not cheap but worth every penny!

Very mediocre food. Great service, but doesn't make up for the totally underwhelming menu.
