Not a big fan of the chicken teriyaki sticks. They're more of a maple brown sugar flavor... Overall, good food. Good portions. Flavorful rice. Tastes like homemade sweet & sour sauce. Average price for today's economy...

Google
Good food. Good portions, good prices, quick delivery. I love their soups, especially the egg drop and hot and sour. I love that they deliver late and quickly.

Stopped here for dinner because of reviews and was not disappointed. Everything I had was the best I have had. Especially the house fried rice! My new go to place even if I live in NH.

Google
The most rudest customer service they Always rush you when making orders for delivery just got my food after an 1 1/2 my food all soggy this will be my last time ordering from there and the delivery driver is terrible don’t recommend this place to any1 bad service

Google
The food is always so fresh and tasty. Although, tonight, I ordered the orange chicken for the first time, and it was a bit too crunchy and a little hard to eat. We've had the beef teriyaki, house fried rice, lo mein, pu pu platter, and peking ravioli, all excellent. Small place, but cozy. Reasonable prices.

Google
I'm very picky when it comes to chinese food. Its either too greasy or the portion is small and too pricy. Here the food is not greasy. The price i pay for the portion it's almost unbelievable because of the times we are living in. I haven't been here in years. I've moved out of lowell but I do work close by. This will be my new go to chinese food spot.

Google
Food was alright I asked for extremely spicy mei fun and the waiter looked at me crazy and it still wasn't spicy enough for me and when I asked for chopsticks he asked if I knew how to use them and was surprised after I was done eating that I actually knew how to use them.

Yelp
First and last time ordered a pu pu platter from here and it will be the last time. Food was horrible tasted a little and threw away everything. Horrible. Shrimp, chicken wings and chicken fingers had a lot of grease the eggroll I picked up and squeezed it alittle and all the grease. Food had so much grease it went through to the bg

Catherine C.

Yelp
Awful service. Argumentative. We order from here once a week. The one time they got the order wrong mu husband went back and paid for what they missed. I called and told them I deserved a refund for the other food I didn't want. The woman who answered said we gave you a refund. Guess what. The next day I checked my bank account and they charged me for everything. My husband was treated badly when he went back. NEVER AGAIN. He.was insulted

Yelp
The best Chinese food in the city! Not only is it the best in Lowell, but it is by far the most affordable anywhere around...food and drink alike! Lily and her crew are terrific. Friendly and always welcoming. And did I mention the portion sizes? You won't leave hungry, but you will leave with leftovers! A must try!

Yelp
We ordered takeout a few times here, and it has been very consistent. Recently I was on the hunt for creamy, crispy, savory crab rangoon, and my husband wanted fried rice - I was not disappointed by their crab rangoon! We also reheated the leftover house fried rice a few days later, and the aroma of the wok through the rice was delicious and comforting.

Yelp
service: old lady was pissed when i walked back in over an allergy food: told them i have a shrimp allergy, they gunna give me shrimp eggrolls, & 5 fried shrimp p.s i only asked for a substitute for the inconvenience so a new bag with newly fried wontons at this point cause how do you do that? anyways then i had to specify a new box ambiance: pretty small dinning area & you see people gettin drunk on the side just gawking at you like dude i only wanted a damn pupu platter for 2 & payed 38 dollars for this experience. save yaself the hassle

Yelp
I moved from California to Mass about almost two years now and was looking for a go to Chinese food spot and had tried others but wasn't satisfied until i found this place. Its not one of those places like in california where they have combination plates and the food right in of you where you can choose from but it is still good and it's my go to Chinese food now and they make it fresh when you place your order. Highly recommend. And i always go for lunch hour. Favorite so far is the lo mein with orange chicken or general tso chicken . Have yet to try others maybe the broccoli and beef next time .
google avatar

Yelp
Got there last night a few minutes before closing. They were wonderful to make me dinner even though it went past closing time. AND it was delicious! Will definitely be back (and will make sure it's not at closing!)

Yelp
Coworkers and I dine in several times a year when we're looking to start our weekends off with some food and cocktails. Service is always super efficient, drinks are strong, and food is hot and flavorful! My more local spot for Chinese takeout was closed this NYE, so I decided to try the Mandarin for my large takeout order. Used the online system to order a few days in advance and kept expectations low knowing how busy and chaotic NYE is at any Chinese place in New England. Was super pleased that my order was bagged and ready when I picked it up a few days later and the food was fresh and hot; didn't need to reheat anything and all items were accounted for. My family said they liked the flavors and quality of the Mandarin better than our usual go-to spot, so while it's a longer drive, the Mandarin is now my family's take-out spot of choice.

Yelp
Today I called to pick up a large order of beef with broccoli and a small order of white steamed rice. I really like the portions that they give you. The beef is flavorful and tender and cooked all the way. I have a trust issue when it comes to Chinese food due to getting sick various times from uncooked meats. I think that they should include white rice with your order of beef and broccoli, but I guess everyone does it differently. What I like about this place is that it's about a 7 minute drive from where I live on campus, so my food is still nice and hot enough to eat without having to microwave it.

Yelp
Typical greasy chinese food. Monsterous portions. They do not play

Leeanne P.

Yelp
I wouldn't eat here. I've been here for drinks and the place isn't clean. I've watched them take dirty glasses and reuse them in the shaker, one after the other. I've watched her put the used straws on the bar and then did everyone get the correct straw back? Who knows. The glasses aren't really clean. Some people won't order anything that requires a glass- only out of a bottle because it's safe. The floor is dirty. The tables aren't clean. They are very nice though.

Miranda H.

Yelp
Absolutely would not recommend. I have always liked the food but have never had a driver as rude as I did tonight. Called...yelled something and hung up. I called back he yelled again and hung up. When he arrived I thanked him for my food, he yelled again and left. Never again!!

Tati C.

Yelp
I paid online and it charged me they said it never went through it was taken out of my account I showed that to the delivery driver he gave me my food I got a call from the store telling me I never paid for it told me the driver was coming back for me to pay again he called me yelled at me and I went out he yelled at me again do not go here they are disrespectful the store told me he does not speak English don't send someone to deliver food if they don't speak English

Yelp
Incredibly tasty food. And served very hot - love it. Ordered the Kung Pao chicken and spare ribs dinner plate for lunch. Yummm!!!!!!!!!! Crispyness, flavors, and EVERYTHING is on point. Just go steady business all the while there. Is this a Lowell hidden gem? Does anyone know? I'm definitely coming back.

Naadiah B.

Yelp
The portions are great, the food is delicious, somewhat timely delivery but will never disappoint. My favorite place in Lowell!

Jesse B.

Yelp
The food came cold. I payed $18 for what appears to be 4oz of food. I called to ask what happened and they said that is what you get for $18. Never again !

Rain L.

Yelp
Last two times they used over cooked mushy spaghetti instead of lo mein noodles. I'm finding a new place to eat Chinese food.

Yelp
One of the better places to get Chinese in Lowell. Food is not greasy like typical places and it actually tastes fresh. I have ordered delivery and went in to sit at the bar. I usually order the typical appetizers and entrees. Crab Rangoon, scallion pancakes, orange chicken, spring rolls. They are all fantastic. I love the atmosphere of the bar and the bartenders are very nice. This is my go to Chinese place.

Tyler B.

Yelp
I ordered through UberEats, and had made a special request for plain lo-mein noodles, no meat or veggies. About five minutes after placing the order, I got a phone call from the restaurant, confirming the special instructions. The food was perfectly made and the portions were just right. Will definitely be ordering again!

Yelp
I love mandarin lowell. Their food is always spot-on. But I recommend calling in and picking it up. Yelp and grubhub ordering is a fekkin nightmare. This is the second time they have screwed up and left me waiting after they told me it was ready to pick up.

Yelp
My favourite Chinese takeaway in Lowell. Mapotofu+pork lunch combo is the best! The bar seems good but I don't drink though.
google avatar

Onyinyechi O.

Yelp
Great portion for a reasonable price. I love the $10 deal. The food tastes good. I will surely be ordering from this restaurant again. Most importantly, it was delivered earlier than expected.

Stephanie T.

Yelp
We ordered a side of white rice and didn't get it. And we didn't have any utensils or napkins. They couldn't package this in a plastic container? Because it leaked through the plastic and paper bag...
google avatar

Yelp
We got an order of appetizers and some rice - ie American Chinese food - nothing authentic or crazy :) Delivery was fast and food arrived hot. 5 stars The food itself was just okay - the highlights were the house fried rice which tasted fresh, was piping hot, and filled with tons of pork, chicken, beef, and shrimp. We also got chicken fingers that were especially well prepared with batter that was light and crispy. Stuff that wasn't dipped in batter and fried (chicken wings, teriyaki beef and chicken, boneless ribs) were just kind of tasteless and flabby. No grill marks on anything - the vibe was like they were boiled in sauce or marinade...? The boneless ribs were SO SWEET with a weird sticky texture. With that said, I give the food 3 stars.

Andrew S.

Yelp
If you like hair in your rice, than you'll like this place. If you like "sushi rice" that's just plain rice, you'll like this place. And do you like "sushi" pieces cut into Juliennes of fish?... I think you get the picture. This is pretty bad. On top of it all, there's nowhere to park. There are so many better places within throwing distance, why bother with this?

Yelp
I haven't been here for a few months and boy have they changed! The service was horrible. We had an older gentleman who was rude af - he must be a new hire. We sat down to eat and food was brought out in takeout trays... really?! Are you that lazy to clean dishes? I asked for egg drop soup along with my meal and that never came. The icing on the cake was when he came back with our change and tried to short us $10. I don't know if he did it on purpose or by accident. Either way, I'm never coming back to this business again. Boy bye!

Tim Y.

Yelp
Great food deliv we delivered hot. Why did yelp require more words i wonder. This place made great food delivered hot

Laura L.

Yelp
Food is always top notch and ready fast reasonable prices and is my go to place EVERY time!

Kim D.

Yelp
We wanted to try a new place.. We ordered soup, egg rolls, dumplings, pork fried rice, moo shi and orange beef. All standard items. We didn't like any of it.
google avatar

Kelly D.

Yelp
I've always heard great things about this place. So I ordered delivery from them and it pangs me to say The food here is honestly not that great. It was so bad that I threw most of it in the garbage. They use way to much five spice, so I feel like everything I had which was chicken fingers, wings, scallion pancakes and crab rangoons had a funky taste. Their lo mein was the best part of the meal.

Yelp
My original review on this restaurant took place in 2015. Somehow, the name Mandarin Asian Bistro - and the Mandarin Lowell were confused with one another. We have, since, corrected this error - we have NOT visit/eaten at the Mandarin Asian Bistro. We have, however, been to the Mandarin Lowell - this review reflects our experience there in 2015. Having seen a parking lot full of diners over time, we decided to give the Mandarin Lowell a try. That was a mistake. The food was greasy and not tasty. The service was awful - we had to wait 15 minutes before our order was taken. That's not a good thing. And we shared that thought with what we believe was one of the managers. It turned out that the owner/manager was not on site that evening. We do NOT recommend a visit to this restaurant.

Hean K.

Yelp
It's a great experience even though it took a little longer. Usually, we eat in or pick up while waiting inside. Thanks and we love it.

I love getting my takeout and delivery from here. They never fail to deliver great tasting food and service.

Yelp
I very rarely review places, but this last experience with Mandarin Lowell set me off. I ordered 2 plates (small order) at 6:10. I then called at 7:20 when I hadn't received my food order. I called up and was pretty calm, because it is food (no big deal), but immediately the woman on the food threw every excuse my way. First I was told I said Blvd, not Street, for my OWN address. Even if I had a sudden lapse in memory, and forgot where I live, the woman who originally took my order stated she had my address (we order every few weeks from there). The experience has been "meh" but the other Chinese places in the area's food is lackluster. So, I was told I lied to her about my address, then she said she can do anything as an apology when I asked, and then said "We are busy, I am so sorry for you (sarcastic tone)." So I was called a liar, and mocked on the phone for a delivery they screwed up. This place has good Chinese, but this is the last time, as I eat my now cold food. Get your act together.

Kim A.

Yelp
I live nearby and have tried this place a few times. Every time I call, the girl that answers the phone is so rude to us. We were trying to find the item number we wanted to order and we weren't fast enough, so she yelled at us and hung up. Another time we wanted to add on to an order and couldn't give the phone number fast enough so she hung up on my husband. I don't know what their problem is. The food is average and inconsistent. Some days you get a mound of noodles, some days it's not as full. The Beef Lo mein has 4 pieces of beef and nothing else in it. The chicken wings and spare ribs are always dry. The Kung Pao Chicken is bland. There is nothing there that I love. I'll never eat here again! They treat you so bad here and the food isn't even that good.

Yelp
Been going to Mandarin Lowell for years but ever since the new owner took over a couple years ago things went downhill. Food is tasty and reasonably priced, but...they will not put the heat on in the winter nor the a/c in the summer. Uncomfortable dining with your coat on and even the wait staff wear their coats. When asked to turn the heat on they speak to each other in Mandarin but get no results. (Probably complaining about us.)The final straw was a recent night there and when finished we told the waiter we will bring the leftovers home. To our surprise we opened the containers when we got home and most of our food was missing! Did they think we wouldn't notice that they only packaged one chicken finger, two boneless ribs, etc when we had much more than that left? They can not be trusted so we will not be returning.

Yelp
I haven't ordered food from the Mandarin since college (gasp! that's over 10 years ago!). I felt the same, unsure feeling when someone from work suggested we go there for drinks after work. The gaudy green-blue facade. The peppermint pink trim. Don't judge, though, this place is fantastic! Though I didn't order food when we went out for drinks, I was sure to rush home and rave about it. The drinks, mind you, were super boozy. The mai tai was rum-tastic! I had just one and sipped it slow. A week later we ordered takeout. Amazing! I had the Kung Pao Chicken with boneless spareribs and pork fried rice. The rice was fluffy, with crispy bean sprouts and onions mixed in. The boneless ribs were thin, almost a bit meatier than jerky. I like them this way and there were plenty on the plate - the portions were huge! The Kung Pao Chicken was just okay. The celery and carrots were fresh and had a great crunch and the sauce was slightly spicy. My boyfriend loves the General Gau's Chicken - it's breaded and crispy, tossed in a sweet and spicy sauce. Mandarin is fantastic for huge portions of fresh food or a stiff beverage. One of the best for Chinese take-out in Lowell.

Yelp
I tried scallion pancake from a lot of Chinese restaurant, by far, this place have the worst. It was really soft, maybe the inside weren't well done. It didn't taste good either. I also ordered the special plate (fried rice, chicken fingers, boneless spare ribs) It didn't taste that good. The fried calamari were really little, I thought it was a lot until' I found bean sprouts filled up half way in the box! -__________- Definitely not worth the 10.50! But the only good thing about this place was that the waiter/waitress were really friendly. :) LOL.

Yelp
Excellent Food!! My Family and I LOVE the food Here at Mandarine Lowell This is the Only Chinese Restaurant we order From ! Always Fresh , Hot Upon Delivery!

Yelp
Everything you can ask for in a Chinese takeout place. Both the quality AND quantity of the food I ordered was superb. Food tasted great and the amount of rice that comes in the dinner plate is pretty epic. See, to me this is a place that just seems to get a simple philosophy; give generous portions and word will spread that you give generous portions. That's how you keep customers coming back. The stingy restaurants just don't seem to get that I guess. Couldn't give it 5 star rating being as the service kind of crappy; but for a takeout joint, as long as the food tastes good and you give me lots of it, I really don't care as much about your people skills.

Nicole T.

Yelp
I have been going here for years, since they opened going on almost 20 years now. Great food and their service is on point. Needs some amazing noodles with veggies, meat, and shrimp? You should definitely put the Shanghai Panfried Noodles on your list of things to try, also if you are Crab Rangoon fan- this is the place to get them, they are the best! They make everything fast, fresh, and to order. Their Mai Tai might knock your socks off while you wait for your food... This is my go to Chinese food location always.

Yelp
Mediocrity at its absolute best, and I mean that in a good way. If you want a culinary masterpiece, go somewhere else. Mandarin is perfect for your classic Chinese food staples. The General Gau's Chicken was up to par, the rice wasn't bad, and the crab Rangoon's were pretty good too. Did I mention the dinner plate came with about 3 pounds of the aforementioned food? Because it does. On top of the generous portions, the Mandarin is equally gregarious with the amount of liquor they give you in their many fruity tropical drinks. The Mai-tai had a lot more rum and a lot less pineapple juice than your average restaurant or bar. In all, this food is up to snuff but nothing that comes close to extraordinary. Combine with good portions, good drinks, and speedy service and you have a great quick bite, casual dinner, or pre-bar night location.

Yelp
I ordered and has eaten there on several occasions. The place is okay, pretty small because they divided the place to be half bar and half restaurant. I feel this place is a hit or miss. At times, my order is very SALTY as in the case for today order !!! And other times, it good but very greasy even if you order the light version from the menu!!!! For the most part, it was decent, the food was hot and okay, service was a little on the slow side but it manageable. As for take out order, it appears to be okay also. Food was hot and service was a little faster than the in take order. Customer service could be a little bit better but since tip is not involve in take out order, I guess there is no need to be polite to the customer.

Yelp
When working landscaping, this is our post-work bevy spot. Combo plates are redonk. Go for the drinks, stay for the food, leave because you don't really fit in with the regulars. Lololol!
google avatar

Lindsay M.

Yelp
Best place for Chinese takeout in Lowell! The food is great, the take out service is quick and easy. Good prices. I have never eaten there only take out. In truth it does not look like a place I would eat at rather take out.

Damaris H.

Yelp
We have never had anything but a great meal here! This is our go to! Even when my baby melted down, they were quick to package our order (at our request) and get us out the door so we could get him home! Food is good, prices are reasonable, and staff is always nice. Delivery is always quick!!

Yelp
Update: Gotten food from here several times now. I'm always impressed with how fresh and hot the food is. Best place for Chinese takeout I've found in the area! We got takeout from here last week and were quite impressed with the food. It was very fresh-tasting and was ready in about 15 minutes. We ordered at the restaurant which was very busy (at 7:00pm on a Friday), and it took a couple of minutes for someone to come over to take our order. It was also a bit loud, which I suppose is to be expected since it is a fairly small restaurant with a bar and table service. I look forward to getting food from them again.
