During 2024, I had the blessing to visit Malaysia on three different occasions, for several weeks. The base and home away from home was the Mandarin Oriental, in Kuala Lumpur, where the attention to detail, passion for service, and care displayed by General Manager Mr. Martin Schnider, was peerless in its sincerity, openness, and impact. As I’ve expressed in past occasions, I celebrate his leadership and vision, as well as the excellence further manifested by several of his close collaborators, including Angela Ng and Farah Juliana. In this vein, given a set of dietary conditions associated with my health, I also want to commend the incredibly thoughtful, luminous, and delicious work that the entire team at Mosaic restaurant delivered. The esteemed Chef Zuber, and his caring colleagues Chef Aman and Chef Zhariff, are world-class in all domains: in their care for everyone visiting the restaurant, in their knowledge about how to address dietary allergies, and in their creativity in showcasing their amazing talents via both regional and international cuisine. This all makes for an unforgettable space, one that forges true friendship/family, given their generosity of heart and wisdom. This is not only my sense and experience, but that of every Malaysian friend and colleague who came to visit me and shared meals at Mosaic, and who praised the excellence of the ingredients, the rich flavors combined, and the luminosity of the service. Though I’ve made sure to take a mental note of an array of collaborators that made my visits to Mosaic restaurant ever memorable, I am sure I’ve forgotten names in the list assembled: the amazing Nadia, Farah, Haidi, Muhain, Nurfarhan, Aziz, and Haiqal, producing marvels in the Kitchens, the welcoming Regina, in management, the ever gracious and joyous Wati, Shahaizal, Yeop, Anuar, and Yuli, in Floor Leadership, the attentive and caring Zuri, Reyad, Syaidatol, Ikmal, Azuan, Mamun, Mazun, Keshav, and Farhan, in Table Pick Up and Tea, and the organized and upbeat Paramakura, Shazwani, Alycia, Bakely, and Habibah at the check-in desk of the restaurant, and Alamin in room cleaning. In my next review (for my upcoming visit later in 2025), I will make sure to list the many more great souls whose names I am blinking on, including an array of thoughtful and caring bell hops and front desk team members (as well as room cleaning staff, including Alamin). My sincere hope is that 2025 brings tremendous health, joy, and happiness to such a special community of professionals who are edifying and warm in heart and soul. May blessings come in all aspects of life to you and your loved ones, and thanks again to the leadership of MOKUL for your drive and sustained success!
