25 Kid-Friendly Austin Restaurants That Aren’t Boring

"The massive Arbor Trails branch of this casual Italian favorite has a large patio just around the corner from the Arbor Trails mall playground. While there’s not a direct line of sight, it’s close enough to order food and drink, then watch the kids until dinner is served. The kids’ menu meals includes a scoop of gelato means makes this place a particular favorite for children, as does the small section of little tables available. The adults can grab discounted wine or a $4 draft beers on the happy hour between 3 and 6 p.m. on weekdays. Takeout and delivery orders can be placed online; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in services." - Erin Russell

First time here with my family. Food was great, way different than the usual “Italian” places. Service was quick and amazing. We got our bread, fried mozzarella and entrees, within reason. Lunette modo mio is the entree I ordered, definitely recommend it. Loved it. Fried mozzarella was some of the best I have ever had. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants Italian.

The food is absolutely incredible. Fresh bread and olive oil as soon as you sit down. It’s too bad it’s just so noisy and there’s nothing to absorb the sound especially in the back room. We would probably eat here a lot more if it not for the noise.

Had an amazing dinner with my family! Everything was very clean and all staff were very nice! Everything is really yummy from appetizers to main meal and perfect to top off with a coffee or gelato! Both managers Maria and Sandra were walking around and making sure all costumers needs were met and that everything was tasting good. Really recommend if you are into pastas or pizza.

Italian food is my comfort food and the quality at Mandola’s is wonderful! Easy to order at the counter restaurant and then your food is brought to your table. Lots of seating indoors, outdoor seating, too. Ordered their baked ziti (Sunday special) which was so good! Definitely recommend their peach Bellini, as well (already drank some before I took the picture, it was more full). Looking forward to trying their gelato bar next time!

Normally the food is great, however thus time around it was awful. The pasta was so dry my son thought it was butterd noodles not fettuccine Alfredo and I also didn't get a stitch of sauce on my chicken mind u it's only served 1 time a week and if there busy sometimes I wait weeks to go in and grab a table today was my sons bday and that's the 1st place we wanted. Waisted 90 dollars today

Nice spacious restaurant with unique decor. The restaurant is self service (order) and then find a table place. Service was fantastic! The complimentary bread and herb oil was super delicious. We ordered garlic bread with cheese which was on the similar bread as the focaccia complimentary bread so not much difference. Kids menu was very reasonably priced with a beverage and ice cream scoop included with the meal. Spaghetti with butter (kids menu) tasted good but no option to add any protein. Chicken sandwich was pretty good and filling portion. Chicken Parmesan was pretty disappointing as the chicken was pretty hard and not crusty at all. Got the Tiramisu cake which was like a 3/5. Have had better of those. There is also a bakery with lots of cakes / cookies and ice cream options. Was pleasantly surprised seeing the free diapers labeled by size along with changing pad liners in the ladies bathroom. Very thoughtful!

Food is delicious! Recently they added dish: grilled salmon with vegetables. I enjoyed it so much, since I can’t have gluten, and my family usually eats pizza or pasta there. House wine is worthy to try, as well as coffee. This place often very crowded and because of this very noisy. On Mother’s Day line to order food was very long, but after we ordered , we have waited very short amount of time. They served our dishes, super quickly. We were pleasantly surprised! For the celebrations, the kitchen works really fast, and quality is still good.

This was a Sunday lunchtime. The Eggplant Parmesan was done well. My husband had the Fettuccine Alfredo and enjoyed it. This is in that shopping strip near Costco. Lots of parking just really heavy traffic. I think the inside gets too loud easily because the walls are not buffered for sound enough. The choices and flavors are great. I give service a 4 because you are not really getting table service here. You get in line, order, get a number before sitting down and finding an unoccupied table. Someone gives you a basket of their splendid foccocia bread, and your food is delivered. That's it for any personal service.
