We visited Manero just for an aperitif.
Our feelings about this place are mixed.
First of all, the venue is lovely. It has a very unique and satisfying interior, with great old Italian, French and Spanish music (’70s/’80s style).
At the beginning, the waiter seemed attentive. Unfortunately, our experience drastically changed due to a detail that sounds small but is actually quite important. We (3 pax) ordered a cheese platter but received small cuts for only two people, which made it awkward, uncomfortable and frankly quite stingy to divide it between three. When we mentioned this to the waiter, he seemed surprised that we were requesting a portion for a third person, but for us, it was strange that we even had to ask. He then suggested charging us for one and a half portions of the cheese platter… fine, but it still felt very cheap on their part.
When we received the bill, we had a long moment of shock. Let’s put it like this: coming from the Netherlands, every full dinner or lunch we’ve had in Spain has been quite inexpensive compared to what we’re used to. So we definitely did not expect a bill equal to the price of a Spanish dinner just for an aperitif. Especially not considering the quality of the presentation and taste was simply fine, nothing wow.
My advice: be actually attentive count the pax, more than 2? ask if they all want to share. Is it just one slice of cheese extra? Offer it from the house. Is it 4 pax? Then charge 2 full portions. Amen. Zero complaints.
