Manero

"A unique restaurant that has recreated the ambience of a traditional grocery store, where you can enjoy delicate tapas, Iberian hams, salted dishes, high-quality tinned products and even seafood, many of which are packaged ready to take away." - Michelin Inspector

Reserved a table for two for dinner during our honeymoon and was thrilled to be escorted to the champagne room at the back where we enjoyed a quiet lovely tapas night with good music and vibe. It is a bit pricey but definitely worth the experience. The French toast is definitely one to try when you are there! It can be quite busy at times and suggest making reservation to secure a decent table.

We visited Manero just for an aperitif. Our feelings about this place are mixed. First of all, the venue is lovely. It has a very unique and satisfying interior, with great old Italian, French and Spanish music (’70s/’80s style). At the beginning, the waiter seemed attentive. Unfortunately, our experience drastically changed due to a detail that sounds small but is actually quite important. We (3 pax) ordered a cheese platter but received small cuts for only two people, which made it awkward, uncomfortable and frankly quite stingy to divide it between three. When we mentioned this to the waiter, he seemed surprised that we were requesting a portion for a third person, but for us, it was strange that we even had to ask. He then suggested charging us for one and a half portions of the cheese platter… fine, but it still felt very cheap on their part. When we received the bill, we had a long moment of shock. Let’s put it like this: coming from the Netherlands, every full dinner or lunch we’ve had in Spain has been quite inexpensive compared to what we’re used to. So we definitely did not expect a bill equal to the price of a Spanish dinner just for an aperitif. Especially not considering the quality of the presentation and taste was simply fine, nothing wow. My advice: be actually attentive count the pax, more than 2? ask if they all want to share. Is it just one slice of cheese extra? Offer it from the house. Is it 4 pax? Then charge 2 full portions. Amen. Zero complaints.

The food was tasty but expensive. Service was friendly and fast, yet we didn’t feel very comfortable. There was obvious upselling and a strong focus on increasing the bill. For example, we received a full bottle of wine instead of the two glasses we ordered, and bread was charged twice even though we said we didn’t want any more (the waiter even said it was ‘on the house’ but it still appeared on the bill). We were also asked three times if we wanted coffee or dessert. Maybe the intentions were good, but we found the experience pushy and unpleasant.

A beautifully appointed upmarket restaurant and bar. Tried to book online but too late. Went there anyway and was lucky enough to be seated at high tables by the entrance. Despite not being in the main part of the restaurant the service was excellent; friendly and attentive, with great food and wine recommendations. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. By far our most expensive meal in Alicante but also our most memorable experience.

We went to this cool, vibey bar in the heart of Alicante without a reservation and still managed to get a table. Lucas welcomed us with great attention and a warm smile. We ordered the tabla de queso and the pastrami bikini—both were really good. Overall, I’d give the value for money a solid 7/10. Definitely a nice spot if you’re looking for a fancy night out.

The food and service was absolutely fantastic. Price point was a bit high but for the service and quality it was worth it. Crab from the seafood platter and lobster roll will be in my dreams...

My partner and I came to Manero whilst we were visiting Alicante on holiday. We were taken back by how beautiful it was inside. The service was very attentive and polite. Shout out to Mauricio who made us feel very welcome. The food was very good too. We will be back for sure 😁
