"It sounds like the title of a song from the 1980s. This young and relaxed restaurant facing the sea offers marine-inspired cuisine, with a mouthwatering choice of shellfish, fish, and of course oysters: the establishment belongs to the Gillardeau family, the famous oyster farmers. The large terrace offers a lovely view, with the Île d'Oléron on the horizon. As for accommodation, "Dormir sur la Plage" has four large very well-appointed junior suites." - Michelin Inspector

Nice location overlooking the man-made lagoon and beach of Marennes Plage. We were passing and stopped - although early, they were happy to serve us drinks as we sat outside enjoying both the view and weather. We visited in early June and people started to arrive for lunch - we did look at the menu, but neither of us were particularly hungry and thought it was a little pricey. There is parking outside, and they have a large (slightly raised) covered veranda set with tables and bright, spacious indoor seating. As we were only having a drink we sat at informal seating beside the road.

The food is bad. The burrata as a starter had a thick dry outer layer, meaning it was an old burrata lacking the fresh texture it should have. The risotto with shrimps as a main dish: the risotto was tasteless and the shrimps were fully over done and the taste was awful: so bad that if a person would have eaten such shrimps for the first time, they would never try shrimps again. We skipped the dessert, because of the quality of food which was served to us. And on top of it all, now, a half hour later, the food sits badly on my stomach.

The food is very disappointing / bad. As a starter we ordered the Burrata, but a thick part of the outside was dry, so not fresh at all as it should be (old Burrata). My girlfriend had as a main dish the risotto with shrimps: the risotto was tasteless and the shrimps were fully over done and the taste was awful. Her reaction: "it's so bad that if a person would have eaten such shrimps for the first time, they would never eat or try shrimps again". I had cod. It was just eatable, but that was about it: also extremely tasteless, and quite dry, it lacked some kind of nice sauce which would up the taste of the dish. And the taste of the vegetables was all the same, also missing flavours. After that, we didn't even feel like having a dessert. The positives: Nice looking restaurant and the plates look ok visually. And the staff who serve are also doing their work fine. The virgin mojito was also ok. The negatives: the food in overall. Worst food experience in France so far.

Super location overlooking a lagoon. Internal and external dining. Very comfortable with all covid precautionary measures. Excellent menu range and extensive wine list. Superb food - try the entrecote, incroyable! Friendly efficient staff.

Nice room on first floor overlooking the lagoon. The lagoon is good for swimming. Breakfast is rather limited but good quality. A little surprising that it (the bread and croissant part) is brought to your room (and left outside if you are not up) considering there is a restaurant attached which is part of the proposed. Expensive compared with other B&Bs we have stayed in.

Arrived at the end of lunch service, but they were able to accommodate us. Spectacular location, friendly staff, great food!

What you would expect for somewhere that promotes the fact it sells fish and chips in France. Fish was pretty awful, fatty and heavy. Chips average. I know, I shouldnt have ordered either. Croque Monsieur claggy and pretty tasteless. But local beer was good and overall price to feed four people less than half that of local restaurants.

Clearly late for the lunchtime service. Still made welcome. Exquisite food, all clearly freshly prepared. Attentive service. Well stuffed!
