The 19 Best Restaurants In Calistoga - Calistoga - The Infatuation

"Mangia Mi might feel like one of those places that play up the Italian stereotypes, with a Vespa parked out front and the “get sauced” tagline on t-shirts. But we’re willing to overlook all that for an order of Momma’s Meatballs and the excellent homemade pastas that change daily. Everything is delicious, but you should prioritize the tagliatelle alla vodka with sausage, Romano eggplant stack, and the garlic and parmesan focaccia. They’re also known for crispy New Haven-style pizzas, like the signature Mikey’s Mambo Italiano, with spicy Calabrian chili honey drizzle and layers of meat, which pair perfectly with $3 PBRs at Happy Hour. This is somewhere you’ll definitely need a reservation for, and they only take bookings over the phone." - christina julian

it was my mum's 65th birthday and we had a wonderful time, Stephanie was great and supported our meal with top tier service, including extras for sides like bacon and tiramisu, and generally providing excellent service. we sat inside "the cottage," which was more private and secluded from the main restaurant. the music was a good volume, the food was excellent and largely portioned, and the overall vibe of the place was friendly and fancy. we will be coming back here.

We recently hosted our annual holiday party for Insight Wellness Center at Mangia Mi in Danville, and we couldn’t have chosen a better spot! As a group of psychotherapists who value self-care and connection, gathering here for holiday cheer was truly a treat. The hospitality and service were absolutely excellent—warm, attentive, and accommodating from start to finish. The food was not only delicious but also came in generous portions, with a wide variety of options to please everyone in our group. We never felt rushed, allowing us to fully relax and enjoy the festive atmosphere. Mangia Mi has officially become our go-to place—not only for team gatherings but also for family visits or even casual hangouts. We’re already considering having them cater to our office events in the future! Thank you, Mangia Mi, for making our celebration so special. We look forward to visiting again (and again)! Highly recommend! ~ The Insight Wellness Center Team 💙

Love this place! Have been twice now and both times were delightful. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is nice. Stephanie, who co-owns the place, is fantastic and goes above and beyond in regards to service. She is so attentive, not to mention so kind and sweet. She makes everyone feel welcome. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Google
Hosted my daughters 18th bday dinner here and Stephanie and team took care of us masterfully! The place is amazing highly recommend. You totally feel like you are a guest in their home. 12 teenage girls were obnoxiously loud and excitable so it was nice we were tucked away from the general population in a private room. Food was delicious and comes out so fast! 10/10 experience for sure.

Google
I recently hosted a dinner party at Mangia Mi in Danville, and the experience was fantastic! The ambiance was warm and inviting, setting the stage for an unforgettable evening. Stephanie, our wonderful host, was incredible. She managed all the details for our group of over 25 guests, ensuring everyone was comfortable and well taken care of. Peter, the owner, went above and beyond to accommodate us. The food was a highlight. Each dish was perfectly cooked.

The atmosphere of Mangia Mi was very nice. We got a table outside, the weather was pleasant and scenery was nice. The food was not that great; the alfredo spaghetti didn’t have any flavor, but the springtime risotto was pretty good. All in all, an okay restaurant that we probably not come to again.

Google
We just became aware Mangia mi is now open for lunch! The al fresco cafe experience was wonderful—people-watching , dogs parading, babies strolling by. Our server, Stephanie, was so amiable and attentive it was like eating at a friend’s home. And the food was simply out of this world. Paninis made with everything fresh. The grilled chicken pesto and heirloom tomato sandwiches we had were not only very generous, but extraordinarily delicious. Even the side salad was elegant—arugula with crumbled blue cheese, candied walnuts and slices of apple. Do yourself a favor and go there before lunch service is discovered and you can’t get a table.

**Review for Mangia Mi** ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mangia Mi never disappoints, and Stephanie truly went above and beyond to make our visit unforgettable! We didn’t reserve the cottage, but she worked her magic and made it happen. The atmosphere and décor are absolutely stunning—such a cozy yet elegant vibe. The food? Incredible! My favorite was the chicken Marsala, perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. And the pesto sauce? OMG, you *have* to try it—it’s out of this world! Thank you, Stephanie, and the entire Mangia Mi team, for another amazing experience. I can’t wait to come back!

Yelp
We were served by the owner and a new waitress. Both were so friendly. The food was outrageously delicious and came out quickly. Best pizza I have had! The fresh pasta is so tasty, we couldn't stop eating it! We chose to eat outside and it was just a wonderful experience from start to finish. We will be back!

Yelp
Picked this place based on reviews. Love family style plating. We ordered a lot of food and it was ALL eaten. SO GOOD!

Yelp
I'm loathe to give local businesses bad reviews but tonight was just not good. Our server was Stephanie and she simply disappeared most of the meal. Had to flag her down twice. Never checked on us after food was delivered. One of the most neglectful servers I've had. I have no idea how many tables she had but it was very quiet in the main dining area. To the food. Split Chicken Marsala. Sauce was good but thin. Chicken was a little tough. Had the prawns scampi and it was ok, but very thin sauce as well. Looked like a bowl of soup after eating it. My son had a meat-focused pizza. Good, not great. It was a disappointing dinner.

Yelp
Hosted Dad's 85th birthday party at Manga Mi. Stephanie and Peter are the best. They opened up for lunch even though they are not open for lunch on Fridays. Our group of 20 fit perfectly in the private room in the front house. It felt more like a big family dinner than lunch at a restaurant. The food was tremendous and the service even better. I'd highly recommend hosting your next group gathering at Manga Mi!

Yelp
I dined here with my mom last Friday night. Despite it being the weekend, there was virtually no wait around 6:30 PM, a pleasant surprise, and the hostess led us to our table almost immediately. Soon after getting seated, our waiter welcomed us with a complimentary bread basket, cups, and a bottle of water. I use the house bread as a litmus test for the quality of an Italian restaurant, and Mangia Mi's is pretty damn good. It's a baguette which comes warm, moist, and crusty: the holy trinity of baguette traits. To share, we had the spinach and butternut squash salad, the seared scallops, and the pasta con vongole. With all due candor, skip the butternut squash salad. The bacon bits came out a tad too burnt making it almost too brittle and difficult to chew. The butternut squash also had a weird marinade rendering it cloyingly sweet and masking its natural sweetness. The main dishes were pretty decent on the other hand. The pasta con vongole, immersed in a white wine sauce, was potent in garlic flavor yet a tad too salty than what I would have preferred. The seared scallops were served on a bed of risotto with corn kernels adorning the top. The corn kernels were an odd addition, adding a needless sweetness to an otherwise savory dish. Overall, Mangia Mi was pretty good! Definitely a solid Italian spot for the Danville area.

Yelp
If you want an amazing local spot look no further than going here. Though it might look small there is plenty of seating for any size party and rooms to have private parties or small events. What I love most is the bar area where you can observe the Executive Chef, Antonio, cook along side his other chefs. Fall, Winter, Spring, or Summer there is always items on the menu that cater to the seasons and Antonio does a phenomenal job in executing each dish. We started with the appetizer of steamed clams and we loved it!! There wasn't a grainy or salty taste to them and they were seasoned and cooked to perfection. Then we each had a different entree. I had the Spring Fettuccine and my mom had the Summer Risotto. Both had such amazing flavors and were different than what we normally would get. You must save room for dessert!!! Their Butter Cake is made in house everyday and served with the best gelato. Please visit this cute little taste of Italy!! You won't regret trying anything on this menu. The owner, Peter Cedolini, is amazing and has made many significant contributions to the community. If you crave Italian go here!!!

Yelp
This restaurant does a lot of things so, so right! And a couple of things oh so wrong..... Positive: the food is fantastic. Probably the freshest salmon I've ever had in a restaurant. Everything was delicious, portions were large, and my very picky mother actually liked it! Literally every single dish and appetizer was a hit. A large menu of exciting dishes, probably one of the best restaurants in Danville. Now the negative: Literally the very first bite of thr clam appetizer, crrrrrooonch!!!! I bit into a rock. ‍ I was in pain for five minutes and really scared that I had broken my tooth. Everyone makes mistakes.... Spit it out and kept going. Two clams later, crrrrrroooonch!!!! Another rock.... Not sand, A FREAKING ROCK. On to the seafood pasta. Tasted lovely, very fresh and good portion siz-CRRRRRRRROOOOOONCH!!!! ......another freaking rock. My poor elderly dad quietly told me (on his birthday btw) that he had bit into several rocks and sand as well. We told the waiter (who was excellent) but what can they do?

Yelp
Personally I did not care for this place at all. The ambiance was strange and the food even stranger. The carbonara had a weird flavor as the short ribs did. Their portions are huge but imho more is not better. Won't be going back.

Yelp
LOVE THIS PLACE! I'm an Italian au pair currently living in the States and tonight I came here to have dinner with my host family. First time having dinner out since I got here. I couldn't have had better night. I had Gnocchi al Gorgonzola and gosh, those were delicious, almost tasted like home if it wasn't for the parmesan cause there was too much but I LOVED them! Then I fell in love with the Buttercream Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream on top. The kids didn't eat everything so we bought the leftovers home! The staff was so nice and kind and we had so much fun talking with them! Alexandria served us and she was amazing! This is the kind of staff I like to meet when I go to a restaurant. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HAVING US! I'll definitely be back to have that buttercream cake again!

Yelp
First time here. This is a cute intimate Italian restaurant. Best to make reservations as the place fills up fast in the primary part of the restaurant. We had reservations at 5pm on a Saturday night to celebrate a birthday party. Half of our guest were 15 min late, but they were kind enough to sit the ones that were there on time. Our server, Carter, was very attentive and prompt the entire time. All staff was very nice and worked together, making sure we always had plenty of bottles of water to He was quick to bring us the amazing, warm delicious sourdough bread to start us off Food ordered: Beet Salad (side), enough to be shared. They are generous with the toppings and balsamic dressing. Short Rib Raviolis- Favorite dish of the night. oh my goodness. Yummy! Every bite. This was a plate full of raviolis with a flavorful meat sauce. Was able to bring 1/4 of it home Lasagna- coming in a hot 2nd. Large portion that easily could have been shared. They do not go light on the meat sauce, which I loved. The flavors were robust. Brought 1/2 home Spaghetti & Meatballs- once again another large portion. Think there were about 4-5 large meatballs. Margherita pizza - she said it was good. Looks good but was too stuffed to try it. When we thought dinner was done- Carter reminded us not to pass up the desserts as he was packing up all the left overs and boxing it for us Desserts: Must Have- Cale Bread with gelato . This is similar to a soft baked vanilla cookie served with vanilla gelato. We were melting eating this Cannoli- 2 large size cannoli stuffed with a pistachio filling. They were ok. Good presentations, but thought they were going to be softer- these were hard to eat. And Carter was kind enough to even sing Happy Birthday. As busy as they were, service was really good. Food was served quick and hot. Has a nice welcoming feeling. 2side salads, 5 meals, 3 desserts, 2 sodas. No alcohol $230.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in the entire Bay Area. Really my favorite - and what got me so excited initially with this restaurant - is the apricot and Sage gnocchi... they haven't offered it in a couple years, but I'm still optimistic. It's worth bringing back! In general, the quality of their pasta is on the higher end, though - so you can't go too wrong. They also have decent cocktails, which is relatively rare for Italian restaurants, and have the best butter cake I've had in my life, which is probably why I continue to frequent the place in spite of missing the more creative/delightful gnocchi options...

Yelp
My family and I had a reasonable meal at Mangia Mi that was unfortunately marred by a pretty subpar experience. We walked in on a Friday evening and figured we'd try our luck without a reservation for a party of five. We felt quite lucky when we were actually able to be seated within a few minutes! They told us we would be seated in their "cottage" area... Unfortunately, this small room was clearly not originally intended to be used as a dining area, as it is very echoey. We were seated next to a loud family and the acoustics of the room made it extremely difficult to simply hold a conversation amongst ourselves. It also lacked any of the ambience of the rest of the restaurant (excessively brightly lit), and our table was right next to the restroom, which was... less than ideal. It took almost 15 minutes for our waiter to get to us (we thought they'd forgotten we'd been seated here). We ordered blood orange and pomegranate martinis, which were pretty tasty. They also brought out bread and dipping oil, which helped satiate us until our entrees. We ordered the rigatoni alla carbonara, lasagna di carne, and the gnocchi gorgonzola. All three entrees were pretty tasty (the lasagna was probably my favorite), and the portion sizes were ideal. The gnocchi was a little overly chewy, but still good. However, I would also be remiss if I didn't mention that a couple of us felt a bit queasy and unsettled when we got back home... The prices are a bit steep, particularly given the middling quality of the food and service. Overall, while the food is pretty decent, the inconsistency of the service, quality of the seating/ambience, and steep prices made this just an average dining experience. I might return if I have a strong craving for Italian, but I'd love to see some of these other issues addressed to elevate the experience.

Yelp
My family & I managed to get a reservation here for Mother's Day & the place was very busy! We got a seat out on the patio, & the weather was perfect. To start, we ordered the bruschetta: Oven-Roasted Red Tomatoes, Balsamic Vinaigrette, Pecorino Romano, Basil, Grilled Bread. That was essentially gobbled up in no time because it tasted so good! My aunt & I then ordered two dishes to split: the heirloom tomato & burrata caprese & the Funghi pizza. The pizza came with Maitake, Oyster and Crimini Mushrooms, Mozzarella, Parmesan, Caramelized Onions, Truffle Oil. Both dishes were full of flavor & absolutely delicious. My parents ordered the Lasagne di Carne, Fresh Pasta Sheets, Bolognese Sauce, Béchamel, Mozzarella, Parmesan, as well as the Rigatoni all made Carbonara, Parmesan Cream Sauce, Pancetta, Applewood-Smoked Bacon, English Peas, Pecorino Romano. Both really enjoyed their meals, & since I don't eat meat, I had to take their word for it! The food takes a bit of time to arrive at the table, but they make everything from scratch & you can taste the time & effort they put into every meal!

Yelp
It was my first time at Mangia Mi and I was pleasantly surprised by how cute the restaurant was. It literally feels like you're inside of someone's home. They have a front porch with a few seats outside. My group and I sat inside at their private room which had a cozy dining table. I ordered the Short Rib Ravioli al Forno, but it was extremely salty for me and covered in cheese. The portion was quite large, but I probably won't order this dish again. Overall, the food was a bit underwhelming.
google avatar

Greg W.

Yelp
My wife, daughter and I ate here for the first time tonight and were impressed. We split an heirloom tomato and burrata caprese salad that was good. I had the lasagna, which was excellent. My wife had the carbonara, which both she and my daughter loved. My daughter had the gnocchi, which I did not try but my wife said tasted fresh and fluffy. The service was attentive. All around a great experience, hence the five star rating. It is a casual place. There are no tablecloths and there was a TV showing college football in the kitchen, but it was great for a family dinner out. We will go back.
google avatar

Marisa B.

Yelp
Mangia Mi was overall a good experience. Here are the takeaways from my experience: -Food. Great portions! Delicious pastas and ribs. -Service. Little short staffed (but it was Monday so I don't think they were expecting the party of 16 people that showed up at the same time of our reservation), we had to wait for the server a few times. -Ambience. I would say the restaurant has room for improvement here. But over all the patio was my favorite area. We actually had dinner inside (in the back area of the restaurant and the went to the patio for dessert and that was great! Over all I will come back here because the food was very good and the portions are great!

Yelp
I would not return to this restaurant. This review is based on service. I will start by saying I worked in restaurants for years and understand when staff is in the weeds and slammed. I am very understanding of the struggles of running a business and working for a small business. The staff disregarded our table and never brought our food. We tried several times to flag down staff. They served tables with guests with light complexions...taking orders, and bringing food. My family is quiet and didn't make a scene. We were hungry and patiently waiting. We were disappointed to not try the food and to wait for an hour. The staff and management never acknowledged we were not served our food or try to rectify the situation at any point. An appropriate course of action would be to at least state we are unable to fulfill your orders so we could have at least left. I do not want a refund or an apology. All I'd like is for the management to take an opportunity to find ways to do better.

Yelp
Should be called Mangia Meh Came here for dinner with a total group of 6. Husband and I ordered charred corn salad, lasagna, and a spicy pesto pizza. The salad was good-if I were to ever come back, this is what I would order and add chicken. For an Italian restaurant, you would think the lasagna, of all things, would be good. It was meh-flavorless and cool. What a disappointment bc almost everyone at our table ordered this. The pizza was soft, limp, and needed to be cooked longer, to make the crust a bit crisp and help each slice hold its shape. It was spicy, but again, just okay. The service was also meh. Our server was nice and it was busy, but the time it took to get our drinks was too long, and the food took even longer. I wouldn't have an issue with waiting, if the food was worth the wait. We also had to remind the server repeatedly about drinks we had ordered but hadn't received. There should be a procedure in place to ensure this doesn't happen and if it does, it's infrequent. All in all, I would say skip this place and save your money. There are so many better options out there.
google avatar

Rosie M.

Yelp
This last visit to Mangi Mi might have been our last. All of our dishes had overcooked protein which meant that the animals that we were eating were all tough and too hard to eat. We informed the waitress and she tried to make excuses but didn't offer to redo the proteins so that they were edible.

Yelp
We had a family dinner at Mangia Mi in the front house recently and had a great time. Stephanie was our server and she was fantastic. I had the chicken parmigiana - it was perfect. Great atmosphere and people. Highly recommend.

Alex D.

Yelp
Had a nice Valentine's Day dinner with my wife, had an overall mixed experience 1. Food - appetizer of burrata and prosciutto was amazing, but lobster ravioli felt underwhelming and burrata chorizo was tiny, undercooked, and 30% crust. $25 for that pizza was rough 2. Service - William was great! We were the only table out on the patio and he was checking on us right between courses and we never felt forgotten. Unfortunately the manager felt it was necessary to berate him in front of us for being slow and not helping his tables. Meanwhile we watched said manager just hanging out at the bar with regulars while they were busy. 3. Shady practices - they want to charge a 3% fee for credit card charges, which according to California law is illegal for restaurants to do. They better be careful before somebody reports them. Overall, seems like the place has gone downhill in the quality department. They want to charge $35 for dishes that feel literally and figuratively half baked.

Yelp
Had a lovely dinner here with some friends! Immediately was greeted by the host at the front, very friendly, energetic and accommodating; she was such a vibe! :) encouraging us to order shots and endless drinks for us much needed girls/mommy night out! I was oddly craving a stuffed portobello mushroom so my GF found this spot and they did not disappoint! We all enjoyed it so much, we ordered 2 of it. Everything we ordered was great but I think they can go a lighter in the salt. Outdoor seating was available as well and plenty of parking across street
google avatar

Kat S.

Yelp
We recently used Mangia Mi to hold my daughter's 18th birthday dinner with her friends. Stephanie was easy to work with and super accommodating. She was easy to work with and flexible with some last minute changes (letting the girls individually order instead of doing a family style dinner with a prefixed menu). We were in the cottage and the girls were in the room. We were able to sit at the bar and have dinner while the girls dined alone. We will look into using Mangia Mi again for a large dinner in the future. Thank you Stephanie for making her night so special!

Len L.

Yelp
Love the chicken parm, outdoor seating, and friendly professional service. Good dessert options too.
google avatar

Chaz B.

Yelp
Food was average at best and service was poor at best, this place needs a ton of help. Plus the owner has a bad attitude and doesn't do well with constructive criticism. Good luck to this place
google avatar

Yelp
We had a fantastic dinner at Mangia Mi. The food was great. We had a Burrata and Prosciutto appetizer and split a Insalata Mista, both were delicious. Our waiter was Andrea, he was attentive and helpful. For dinner I had the gnocchi and my husband had the salmon special. I loved all of it. The ambiance is nice. I like that they have a chef's bar that you can sit at as well. It was a hot day so we ate inside but they have tables outside that would be nice on a cooler evening. I can't believe that we haven't tried this place before. It's a winner. We will definitely go back.

Anna C.

Yelp
Don't really care for this Italian restaurant too much. Ambiance is weird, table and chairs are not comfortable. Ravioli in particular is too salty and pricey. The only dish good is their salads.

Shelly B.

Yelp
Always great food! Mangia Mi is consistently delicious and a fun place to go! Went for a Ladies night out and we all enjoyed our meals!
google avatar

Debbie F.

Yelp
Our meal was delicious! Our server Stephanie was outstanding! Great atmosphere and lots of outdoor seating. Seafood special was very good and fresh ingredients. We loved the beet salad.
google avatar

Pasquale B.

Yelp
They need more space! Good food and decent service. Friendly and respectful. Ambiance is dependent upon where you are seated!

Ms J.

Yelp
Food was okay, as was service. Not sure I'd go back. Nothing special. Pasta sauces were on the baked side. Pasta was overcooked too.
google avatar

Yelp
We enjoyed a delightful meal at Mangia Mia. The Manhattan and elderflower cocktail were delicious, and our main courses, rigatoni carbonara and spaghetti with meatballs, were flavorful. Overall, a great dining experience with good food and drinks.
google avatar

Nick C.

Yelp
As much as I have enjoyed all of the food I have tried here, the individual room layout is uncommon yet ideal for business lunches or dinners. The place is a hidden treasure.

Christina J.

Yelp
A nice little Italian spot in the heart of downtown. Food was good and service was fine albeit a little slow. Would come back.
google avatar

Carly B.

Yelp
This restaurant is a great hot spot for delicious Italian food! It is located in the heart of downtown Danville! The owner is Italian himself, so you know the menu is filled with traditional Italian flavors. It is a whole in the wall restaurant, smaller, but very lively. The menu can be pricey depending on your order. My family has had banquets and Christmas parties here too. The owner is super super friendly and very helpful and thoughtful too! Helpful tip!!! It can be hard to find parking at times along the main road of downtown, but there is a parking lot at the back entrance that can be used to park as well!

Yelp
Celebrated my wife's birthday with friends, had a great time. That said, the food definitely fell short. Had an appetizer of steamed clams, as well as the Burrata & Prosciutto. Both were tasty, but the prosciutto was sliced too thick IMO, which made it hard to bite through with the burrata on a crostini. Wife and I shared a beet salad, it was on point. I opted for the Lasagne di Carne, while tasty, I had to send it back because it was barely warmed through. Wife had the Gnocchi Gorgonzola, and these were not very good at all. Dense and doughy, not the little pillows of delight one expects from a proper gnocchi. It was also a bit too gorgonzola forward IMO, very heavy. Dessert was the Cannoli and Butter Cake, the cake was absolutely fantastic, definitely the highlight. All in all the service was good, and we really enjoyed our time with friends. That said, I will not be in a hurry to return.

Kristin S.

Yelp
We had a large group (20+) for lunch and Stephanie took amazing care of us in the cottage. Food was great and no room fee!

M. P.

Yelp
Food was slightly cold and service was inattentive. Decor was only bright spot unfortunately. Ambiance was dull. There are better Italian options in Danville.
google avatar

Paul M.

Yelp
Still the best burrata on the planet!! Pizza, bruschetta, stuffed mushroom, chopped salad and butter cake for dessert. All excellent as usual! Oh, a couple of sangrias and a blood orange martini as well!! Peter is the best!

Emma H.

Yelp
Staff is consistency RUDE here. I have been here a few times and have always had a poor experience. I just spoke with an incredibly rude staff member on the phone. I called to make a reservation and inquired if they are open early this Friday because per google it says they are opening at 4pm this week. I called and made a reservation at 4:00pm. However, the confirmation I got was for 5pm. I called back to confirm the time and I was met with an incredibly hostile woman over the phone. I wish I had gotten her name. I told her that the other staff member told me it was 4PM. She talked right over me and gave such rude attitude. So bad I just hung up the phone. They just lost my business and the business of the group I was hoping to bring. Ill gladly be taking my business elsewhere.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
Mangia Mi isn't bad, but it is a cut below some better options for Italian food in Danville. The food was the highlight. The appetizer and pizza we shared were very nice. Ambience was a bit of a letdown. Cottage is too brightly lit and acoustics not great. Definitely don't be seated by the bathroom if you can avoid it. We were not, but it would've been quite frustrating if we were. Service was the bigger letdown. Staff are quite friendly, but the service was very haphazard and spotty. Took 5+ minutes to be acknowledged when we arrived and there were long gaps in any attention when dining. My sense is they are very short of staff and current staff are doing the best they can. With better options in Danville, we will choose to go elsewhere next time for Italian food.

Yelp
It doesn't get much more "homey" than this! After all, Mangia Mi occupies two former residential buildings and offers simple Italian homestyle dishes! There was plenty of outdoor seating in the patio as well as the back parking lot, making this a nice respite from the busyness of downtown Danville. We started our meal with two salads--first, the baby spinach & butternut squash salad was a simple mixture of spinach and arugula topped with thin slices of butternut squash, bacon, and sunflower seeds, all tossed in a light vinaigrette. But far more interesting was the heirloom tomato & burrata caprese salad, a refreshing mixture of chopped heirloom tomatoes, creamy burrata, little balls of ciliegine (mozzarella) cheese, all dressed in a chive pesto and herb oil, and drizzled with balsamic vinegar. Nothing crazy, but the flavors of the tomato, cheese, and herbal dressing all melded together nicely! We continued our meal with three sides: roasted cauliflower with calabrian chili and herb oil, roasted broccoli with lemon juice and red pepper flake, and by far my favorite dish of all, the meatballs simmered in a San Marzano marinara sauce! The vegetables weren't all that special, but those little meatballs had an amazing dense texture and herbal aroma, and went perfectly with the thick, decadent, umami tomato sauce! Simply divine! The pasta con vongole was a simple, light pasta dish made of spaghetti topped with littleneck clams, all in a white wine, lemon, and garlic sauce, and topped with pecorino cheese. Not bad, though I thought the pasta could've been a little more al dente. And finally, we had the funghi pizza, topped with maitake, oyster, and crimini mushrooms, mozzarella, parmesan, caramelized onions, and truffle oil. Sounds like a great combination, but the execution was off--the crust was burnt around the edges, yet the dough was soggy in the middle--this one is definitely skippable.. Overall, there was nothing complicated or unusual about the dishes at Mangia Mi--this was just simple Italian cooking in a relaxed atmosphere with friendly service! And if there's one highlight from the menu, it has to be the meatballs in marinara sauce!

Yelp
Another visit, go for the food not the service. You can be waiting long periods between drinks, ordering, serving and dessert. Order some apps with the first drink order. Drinks: Old Fashion: They do a good job, good amount of Cherries (Luxardo) and a orange slice muddle and then the booze with a little sugar, dash bitters. Good balance, 4 Stars The rest of my group enjoyed theirs.. Manhattan, Lemon Drop Apps: Stuffed Portabella Mushroom: Good stuff 4 Stars. Good flavor, fresh mushroom, good Italian sausage, served in a bowl with I assume the cooking liquid. Get some bread and soak that up! Meatballs: The best 5 Stars, get some! It my number 1 or 2 Salad: Bacon and Romaine Salad: 3 Stars. I'm no a fan of uncut romaine, they really should cut the salad for you. I substituted the gorgonzola for avocado, not a fan of blue. The rest of the salad was really good, great champagne dressing, good think cut bacon. To make this 4 or 5 stars, cut the romaine, add avocados, and toss the whole thing with a good amount of dressing. The artistic drizzle of dressing over the top does not work. Oh, keep the gorgonzola for those who like, but adding avocado just raises the level. The others in my party had the Beet Salad, they enjoyed it. I'm going to try next time Dinner: Chicken Marsala: 4 Stars. The dish was tender, thin cut chicken breast laid over mash potatoes with a good covering of Marsala wine sauce. The mash potatoes were perfectly smooth and seasoned. The Marsala wine sauce was not watered down, good strong favor, but it was a little thin. I think they don't add flour to the chicken to give the sauce a thicker consistency. And they didn't finish with butter, or add much garlic. Still really good, to make this 5 Stars, thicker sauce, add more garlic, finished with butter. And maybe some thyme The others had the carbonara, but as I have mentioned in my other reviews it really a bacon Alfredo. Still really good and I recommend as long as your not but expecting traditional carbonara. Dessert: Butter Cake: 4 Stars. Love the dessert! Great flavor both the cake and gelato. To make 5 Stars, improve the presentation, maybe add a sauce on the top, or the plate. The presentation is simply the butter cake on a plate with vanilla gelato on top of the cake. I'll be back for more...

Yelp
Such great food and ambiance. The table next to us was obnoxiously loud nobody could hear themselves think, but the staff addressed it in a very professional way. We all loved the food and service. Yum!!

Yelp
Consistently GREAT food! My favorite is whatever seafood special they are serving or I choose the lasagna. My hubby loves their salads with grilled chicken... great flavor. Been here several times and always a great meal. Love the staff too! Service always right on target. Warm atmosphere, you can't help but smile when you walk in, it smells and looks too good not to,

Yelp
We usually love this place and would give 5 stars normally. But we just picked up two pizzas this time because we are trying to find our spot for pizzas. We made some special requests to remove some toppings and we received two normal carni suprema pizzas....

Yelp
A cute looking little house with seating on the porch and L-shaped patio, and more modern little restaurant (and kitchen) behind it. So cute, it was my gf's and my choice for our first time in downtown Danville. That means, it stood out above all others, and it was good to take our pooch since we could sit nicely outside on the patio. However, we were put off by the lifeless hostess who clearly didn't like people and didn't want to be there. Then, we sat at our table without acknowledgement for at least 5-7 minutes, until another gal with water didn't say hello and just went with the task at hand. Finally, our server, was good but was 18 at best, and no fault of his, not mature. The food was remarkably good. We had the Lasagne di Carne [$21, 4.0 stars] -- a good portion, and very good Bolognese Sauce; Carni Suprema [$17, 4.5 stars] -- wonderful crust, but a little sparse with the toppings (Meatballs, Calabrese Sausage, Pepperoni) and a little small. Still, very good and worthy. So, in the end, won't likely return. Food 8/10 and service 3/10.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this little gem in Danville while looking for some good Italian food. I have to say I didn't find good Italian food, I found great Italian food! The spaghetti and meatballs is delicious with a generous portion of meatballs. We've come three times now and each time the food is fresh, generous portions and truly mouth watering. The decor is quaint and inviting and the service us very good. If you have not tried Mangia Mi, you should give it a try.

Yelp
OMG!! Excellent food and excellent service! What more can you say? The Chicken Marsala was the best dish with lasagna and cream carbonara a close second. Make the reservations and do drop in.
