"This downtown Rochester spot offers both speedy carry out service and an upscale dine in experience. With a modern trendy aesthetic, wonderful service, and a large menu of Thai staples, Mango Thai does not disappoint. For those seeking excellent Thai flavors at a cheaper price range, head to Mango Thai’s sister restaurant in Northwest Rochester, Asia Fusion." - Katy Spratte Joyce

Popped in for dinner because we were craving some Thai food. Loads of ambience! Kind of dimly lit, long, narrow interior. My first thought was “This would be a great place for modern young professionals to get food and drinks.” The waitress provided hot warm towel after we sat down. Friendly staff. Food was good. The avocado crab rolls were nicely presented. We ordered Massaman Curry and Garlic Chicken. The curry had so much flavor happening! Beef was a little tough, but this was the dish we liked better. The Garlic Chicken was alright- bland in comparison but the chicken was more tender. Overall a good meal. Don’t think we’ll come here again though as there are so many other restaurants to explore in Rochester and our visits are short.

We’ve been here many times and we always enjoyed the food. They have many vegetarian dishes and the desserts are delicious. The restaurant is also in a great location but a little difficult to find a parking spot though. The team is also nice and friendly. Have plenty of dishes to try … just keep in mind some soups are big enough for sharing. You may want to try the sticky rice Mango!

The food is good, but the indifferent service makes you want to leave as soon as you finish, waiting time was very long—as if they don’t care whether you come back or not. The manager or owner really needs to pay attention to this! Oh, plus the glass was not clean!

Google
Delicious food. I've been eating here for a few years and have never been disappointed with the food. They have a really nice selection of your typical Thai fare, as well as a few unique items that really get your taste buds rolling. I LOVE their Thai beef jerky and Singapore noodles. My only complaint ever, is the service. Now and then it's phenomenal, but more often than not it is lacking. A handful of times when I've made a reservation they either didn't have it listed, or seated someone else there and asked me to wait at the bar until a table was ready. Some of the waitstaff is also lacking in their waiting skills as I've had to ask for this or that multiple times. Also, they don't always come back and check on you for water refills, more food, etc. It's a small place so if that happens, you can usually find your server behind the bar scrolling on their phone. Overall though, I really do love this place. They can tailor most of their items for dietary restrictions as well.

It was our last night in Rochester and this was the restaurant that my friend recommended to try and I'm so glad he did! Their food was superb 👌🏻! We ordered thai tea (it was a little bit on the sweet side in my opinion). My friend ordered the **Massaman Curry**, it was good. The sauce was creamy, has a little bit of spice and the beef was tender! I ordered **Chicken Satay**, I've been craving one for a while and this sure satisfied it! Their peanut sauce is really good, has a hint of spice and the cucumber onion salad that came with it was yummy! I also ordered **Thai Beef Jerky** it reminded me of Filipino Tapa a little nit. It was great, it came with sticky rice I wish it was just regular rice, but it was still good and I ate all of it. It has Sriracha dipping sauce. We ordered **mango 🥭 sticky rice** for dessert and it was yum!! The kids enjoyed it as well! Loved the presentation it was so pretty and the mango was really sweet! Top of my places to visit again for sure! If I'm in town again this will surely be on my list! 💯 Our server was really nice! He checked and made sure we got everything and that we're satisfied with our meal. 👏

Stopped with a group of 8 for lunch @ 11:30 on a Wednesday. There was only one other occupied table. They do have carry out, it would be a great option if you’re in a hurry or on a lunch break. The food we got was exactly as requested to be prepared and delicious. I was very impressed with each dish and will for sure be returning. I felt like the menu had something for everyone. Even the one person who was vegan enjoyed her dish. Our food was prepared quickly. Most of us just had water to drink. I appreciated the server leaving a water container for us to refill as needed. Server was quick to refill water container when empty as well. We enjoyed our meal, received our individual bills quickly so we could get back to work. I was worried we could do on a lunch break- they are very quick. I only wish I had time to try more of the food. All seasoned well.

Google
Delicious food! Large servings! Great customer service! Everything we ordered was amazing and was presented beautifully. The massaman curry for dinner and mango sticky rice for dessert were amazing! Love the ambience as well!

Google
Kinda fancy place. We waited quite long for our table but it was worth it. Everything is delicious! Their drinks are impressive and tastes so good. I have tried their Lychee Martini, Mango Mojito, of course, Spiked Thai Tea. I highly recommend this place. Haven't able to take photos of the rest of our orders. But here's a few.

Mike S.

Yelp
I had a great take out fr Mango Thai plus very accommodating service! Definitely recommend them and another visit.

Sil S.

Yelp
Love the service. When I visit a Thai restaurant for the first time I always order pad Thai and Thai iced tea. I figure if they get those two right then I'll come back. This is my second attempt in Rochester to find good Thai Food and so far for the life of me, I can't figure out why the Pad Thai is way too sweet and the Thai iced tea is watered down here. It must be the midwestern palate. My pad Thai almost was too sugary for me to eat. The Thai iced tea was too weak. Trust me when I say, this is not how it should taste at all. I've been to Thai Pop which is very popular and they have basically the same recipe....very sweet pad Thai and weak Thai Iced tea. But if that is what you are used to, then this is the place for you!

Yelp
Take out : ready when I arrived but noodles are mushy, vegetables are large and uncooked and dish is overly fragrant or unbalanced, in my opinion. Rice is fine. I order this dish at every Thai restaurant that I go to and this one is disappointing.

Chris L.

Yelp
Eric our waiter was attentive the food was marvelous we had the charcoal grill shrimp the hot wings the coconut chicken soup and the pad Thai chicken shrimp plate. All wonderful!!!! The charcoal shrimp were the hottest thing we were served even though it was not marked as hot and the soup was marked hot and I would say it was a medium to the shrimp. There was a family emergency in the kitchen however so that might have affected the spice. Overall we will be back!!!! Wonderful ambiance and decor

Yelp
Decided to go to one of my favorite spots in Rochester the other night . They were busy as expected on a Saturday night. Both my wife and myself ordered drinks off the cocktail menu . Hers was the Happy Captain and I ordered a Mango mojito. We both enjoyed them . Mine was very sweet . For dinner we shared the spring rolls and the sauce are always great . As for the entrees my wife ordered the Chicken and Shrimp Pad Tai. Her only complaint was it only had two small shrimp but plenty of chicken . I ordered the Red Curry Sea Bass with mango and Asparagus. Overall the dish was good and a nice portion. I only wish the asparagus was trimmed better at the inedible bottoms . We both enjoyed ourselves and the service was pretty good . Just some smaller complaints were the difference from 5 stars . We'll be back .

Yelp
We were seated at the bar wich is lovely. Full bar service on the shelves. Six (yes, 6!) barely 21 tears old kids standing behind chatting, Finally one asks if we would like a drink. I asked for a cosmopolitan but he responded he only knew how to make a whiskey sour. We ordered pot stickers. Pretty good. As we sat there another patron came to the bar and told one of the people behind it that he "had never left a restaurant without tipping until tonight." We left and went across the street to Thai Pop. Excellent! We went to Mango Thai with low expectations but they were not met! Don't bother.

Ann R.

Yelp
Just fantastic every time. Their egg rolls are my favorite. Big fan also of the curry choices

Pam W.

Yelp
Mango Thai is a top pick. Best Thai food I've had in Minnesota. Nice spot. Great ambiance. Already planning a return trip.

David K.

Yelp
Has this place closed? Called twice to place take out order, this evening. No answer even though I let ring until I got a voice mail not set up msg. Gave 1 Star* only because forced to rate. Yelp, Please add NA as option. * Will revise with more info.

Yelp
We are in Rochester, every two weeks for medical treatment, and always eat here, the service is great, and the food outstanding. If you're in Rochester and, like Thai food, I would recommend you give mango Thai a visit.

Joanie S.

Yelp
Wonderful Pad Thai! Delicious spring rolls. Everything was extremely fresh. Friendly staff! I would highly recommend!

J F.

Yelp
Very Spivey. Pretty good service. Had the cauliflower appetizer. Very good. Sauce was amazing. Chicken and green beans. Good quality. Pretty authentic.

Cindy R.

Yelp
Mango Thai is one of my favorite restaurants in my second home Rochester MN. Duck curry is ten stars, as is the dessert Mango sticky rice. Many items are too spicy for me so I order them mild and then the great flavors come first. Everything is super good.

Miriam A.

Yelp
Exquisite design place. Delicious menu. I love it. Good price too !!! The service is nice.

Diane E.

Yelp
Eat here! We have eaten here twice and will be back. Appetizers very good. Main course's delicious. Lovely restaurant.

Yelp
This is our go to for Thai food in Rochester ! The food is so fresh and the service is so good ! Highly recommend Mango Thai !

Daddy J.

Yelp
We went to Mango Thai yesterday for dinner. My wife and I had an absolutely fantastic experience. Food is fabulous and consistently so. What stood out yesterday was the service by Genie. She was just extra ordinary in her kindness, courteousness and respect. It was a rare experience to see someone so joyful at her work. With an ever present smile and the most positive attitude. It was a perfect Friday evening dinner outing. Thank you!

Kris W.

Yelp
We have found our new favorite Thai place! Excellent service, fantastic food and atmosphere.

YumYum C.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful. The food had bold flavors, and each ingredient could be individually tasted. Ordered Thai curry and Pad Kee Mao (drunken noodles) with mango rice for dessert. The server was sweet and the restaurant was clean and very appealing.

Katie R.

Yelp
Great food and service ! The bus person had the hiccups really bad, poor kid, but outside of that it was great!

Amy P.

Yelp
I went to this restaurant with some friends when I visited Rochester. The atmosphere reminds me of an expensive up-scale Minneapolis restaurant (and be careful, their bathroom is pretty much not lit at all), but I loved the vibe. We ate around 3pm in the afternoon so we were one of the only guests at the time. We were waited on almost instantly and our water was constantly refilled. Before your meal, they offer you warm towels for your hands, which I thought was very cute. The meal took about 20 or so minutes to make. I ordered their shrimp & chicken pad thai as I had never tried Thai food before, I figured pad thai was the first logical step. I was BLOWN. AWAY. The peanut sauce along with the cooked shrimp and chicken created such an amazing flavor I almost forgot to take pictures--that's how much I was enjoying it. I have been craving this dish ever since. I would highly recommend not only the shrimp & chicken pad that (which I believe was around $14) but this restaurant as well. The service was great, the atmosphere was high class and the food was superb.

Tony R.

Yelp
This place was a very pleasant surprise. It sports an upscale urban vibe with value oriented pricing. It's a small place offering limited indoor dining, but the resulting atmosphere offers an intimate dining experience and the place offers a full-bar. The service was good to above average, as was the food. Still, the overall experience makes this a must try. Be warned it may be hard to get in during peak hours. Best make reservations.

Mariam R.

Yelp
It was my first time at Mango Thai yesterday and it did not disappoint! First impression: beautiful, elegant, and classy location and decor. We were greeted with a friendly host and as soon as we sat down we were given warm rolled up towels to wipe our hands with. Such a treat! I almost felt like I was back on vacation in a tropical place instead of in cold Minnesota. The menu is more extensive than I thought. I was also expecting smaller portions since it looked like a fancier restaurant but I thought the portions were decent! We got the avocado rolls as an appetizer. Came with 6 pieces and a delicious almost peanut-like sauce. Very delicious. I usually go for massaman curry but I tried something new - spinach and bean sprouts peanut curry. It was honestly so delicious I was scraping my plate. If you love peanut sauce, you will love this dish. I got mine with chicken and it was solid! A friend at our table got the massaman curry and he said he liked it. My husband tried the shrimp and chicken pad Thai. It was good, but had more of a stronger fish sauce flavor. It also had thinner noodles than traditional pad Thai. It was definitely the one time I liked what I ordered more than my husband since he's usually pretty good at choosing new menu items. Haha ! I'm excited to come back and try more things. The mango is out of season but next time I want to try the mango sticky rice !

Yelp
Great authentic Thai food. The spring rolls are so good. We went there for our first meal when we moved to Rochester and it was a wonderful welcome to the city

David L.

Yelp
Loved the food and ambience until now. Went at 6:30 ordered wine, app, and entree. Good service for wine and app. But... entrees never came! After 45 minutes we asked and we're told they are working on it. 15 minutes later told the kitchen was behind. 5 more minutes went by then we just left money on the table and walked out. Pathetic!!! Try Thai Pop across the street instead.

Rutuja S.

Yelp
As a person who love Thai food i have tried better in different states all over US. Was an overall average experience for me but you can decide for yourself if its your first time and you are in Rochester

Jim G.

Yelp
Inexplicably closed so we could not eat there. The hours posted showed they should be open.

Alee W.

Yelp
Have ordered takeout from this place a few more times over the last 6 months as this is a must when I'm in Rochester. The service is noticeably improved (have not seen the same folks from my prior review with bad service). The food continues to be stellar. My favorite dishes, the pad kee mao and yum woon sen seafood salad are an explosion of flavors, spicy, sweet, sour, and umami. I love it that when I order dishes Thai hot, it is spicy enough without sacrificing flavor. This is what I think of as the best drunken noodles in MN and WI. I've had great drunken noodles from other restaurants in other states (CO, AL, GA, FL, TX, NYC) and this restaurant's is the best you can get in the Midwest IMO and ties with my favorite Thai restaurant in CO. If I consider the yum woon sen seafood salad as well, this place tops all others I've been to.

Yelp
Family of six (including one-year-old granddaughter) had a fantastic dinner here tonight. All the food was excellent. Our server, Jeab, was one of the best, kindest, most wonderful servers we have ever had anywhere. Thank you so much for helping to make our evening special. We can't wait to return!

C H.

Yelp
Wonderful, very delicious food, great atmosphere, phenomenal service. We loved the rama peanut curry (both with tofu and chicken) and the massaman curry. Our server Jaeb was also so lovely, very friendly and accommodating. We will be going back many times in the future!

Nisha P.

Yelp
A good option for Thai food in the Rochester area. As vegetarians, the dishes are limited. We tried the Spicy Thai basil fried rice and Panang curry. We were also told that it would not be possible to remove the fish sauce from their dishes. Given this, we only tried it once but our friends who visited and do not have any dietary restrictions enjoyed their food flavor profile very much.

Layan A.

Yelp
Ok so after being in Rochester for 5 years, this place has become one of my faves. I just love all Asian cuisine and this one hits the spot. I love how consistent their food is. Their green curry is delicious and my other fav is the cashew chicken (without chicken, extra veggies). Highly recommend

Kiksomo N.

Yelp
We visited Mango Thai today shortly after opening to a fairly empty restaurant since they opened at 3. We sat at the bar and placed a To Go order while having a cocktail. The server/bartender was very nice and accommodating, although the wine my wife had excessive tannins that seemed like the wine had been open for awhile. For our To Go order we ordered a Singapore noodle, Tom Yum soup " NO MUSHROOMS" and a Tom Kha soup. When we arrived home, we opened our bag and noticed the tom yum soup had extra mushrooms, the Singapore noodle looked like drunken noodles and the tom kha was so citrusy that made you feel like like your sucking on a lime from a Cuban mojito. The "Singapore noodle" dish did have a good flavor profile but missed the thin noodles. The soups were extremely disappointing due to being too citrusy. Reason for the 1 star was not only for the poor food and mistakes the chef made but was for the lack of costumer service when we called, the manager didn't even try to accommodate us, just a sole sad sorry! Stick with Thai Pop for a better food experience!

Chloe L.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants in Rochester. Have tried their pad see ew, pad thai, tom yum, tom kha - all absolutely delicious. The flavors are punchy, and the quality of the ingredients are definitely better than the other Thai restaurants in town.

Loretta C.

Yelp
We asked for a Thai Hot and were pleasantly surprised to get some decent spice. We came in on a Saturday night and were quickly seated. It's a beautiful space with tasteful decor. It was a bit awkward because they have way too many tables too close together. There isn't a ton of personal space because you feel you are trapped between other tables' conversations and noise. The waiter was really nice and attentive. The food was excellent. We enjoyed the spring rolls, chicken shrimp basil and seafood pad kee mow. Fantastic food presentation and an excellent location. We will definitely come back. Word of advice for the restaurant, if a patron asks for Thai hot, they know what they are asking for. No need to ask if it's too spicy. also, remove a few of the two-seater tables to give more privacy to your patrons.

Ramses A.

Yelp
I was visiting from out of town and thought I would try this restaurant. Well, I entered and stood around for 5 minutes, waiting for someone to seat me, ask if I were picking up a to-go order, or interact with me at all. Nobody did, so I just left!

Ann G.

Yelp
Wonderful garlic chicken- generous serving size. Lots of broccoli and snow peas- still crunchy! Mango sticky awesome!

Danny L.

Yelp
-Tom Kha: I love tom kha but Mango Thai's Tom Kha was almost inedible. It was incredibly salty and sour. Even pairing the soup with rice, we were unable to have much more than a few spoons full. The whole pot had so much liquid but so little chicken and veggies. I hate wasting food though so we brought it home added veggies, tofu, and water. Pairing it with some vermicelli noodles and rice with our new tom kha is perfect. For a $20 dish, I expected more but was sadly disappointed. Sorry, me not again. -Green Curry Mahi Mahi: The green curry itself was very compared to the Tom Kha. It was definitely more rich and balanced. However, the rice noodles were clumped together and the mahi mahi was definitely not fresh. It was extremely fishy which is typically a tall tale sign of spoiled mahi mahi... It was also overcooked- the fish so difficult to chew. For $26 dish, I'd expect more. -Service: We were seated right away. Our server was super nice and was really informative when we were selecting our dishes. -Ambience: It's a nice, classy place. Dim lighting for a more date night type of environment. They also had a nicely, curated playlist of violin/instrumental pop songs.

Kevin K.

Yelp
This restaurant was everything I had hoped it would be... Great food, service, and cocktails! Went with a group of 6 and we all had great food and a great time!

Jonathan R.

Yelp
Underwhelming. The Panang curry consisted 90% of less-than-tender chicken meat, rubbery actually, with nearly no vegetables required for the recipe. It was just a pile of chicken in a bowl with 3 bell peppers. Rice was extra. Vegetarian egg rolls were $8. Extra white rice was extra. Provided was a tiny rice patty. The service was rushed. Nice location and facility. I wish there was better in Rochester.

Maisha R.

Yelp
After hearing such great reviews from friends in the area, I was eager to try this place. Sitting by the door on a Saturday night, we combatted the intense sun rays beaming in and the legion of flies as we flipped through the menu. Having been there multiple times before, most people in the group knew what they wanted but I was torn between a classic noodle dish or one of the signature specials. Our server led me to the specials and I chose the ginger salmon, silently wondering if the pad thai or pad see ew would've been better choices. After a short while, our entrees appeared and at first glance, it all looked quite good. I tasted a friend's green curry mahi mahi which was light and flavorful. The salmon, unfortunately, was far worse. It tasted quite odd, to the point of my thinking that perhaps the fish was bad. Noticing that I hadn't eaten it, our server inquired about the issue and removed it from the bill. He offered to get me something else but by then, my appetite was ruined. The Thai iced tea was good, although super sweet, and the rice was well cooked. The ambiance is decent, similar to the previous sushi place that occupied that spot. Service was as expected but prices were surprisingly high. All in all, it was a disappointing meal.

Marie H.

Yelp
Solid restaurant for great Thai food and Asian food in general! Finally checked this place out after hearing much about it and was overall impressed. The atmosphere inside is beautiful, with lovely modern décor. Service was also fast and attentive. For my entrée, I got the pad woon sen seafood, which was delicious. The glass noodles were well-seasoned and it came with large pieces of shrimp, scallops, and calamari that were perfectly cooked. If you like veggies, there was also a lot of carrots, bean sprouts, onions, and tomatoes (not sure tomatoes go with the dish but everything else was good). I also tried my friend's basil duck, which was quite tasty and a large portion size. This place can be a bit pricey (for an Asian restaurant) but I'm not sure there's anything else comparable in Rochester. I would definitely come back for the great food and ambience!

Christine P.

Yelp
Yes please!! Super great Thai, good zing ordered at medium spice. Super friendly staff who gave me her recommendations when I couldn't decide. And to top it off the side of perfectly steamed veggies that I ordered was so good!

Yaj Yaaj C.

Yelp
Very nice food. Ordered to go. I had drunken noodles with tofu, very nice. My wife had veggie Pad Thai with tofu, very nice. Would recommend. We will go back.

Ellie L.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this restaurant while walking around Rochester on a Friday looking for a dinner spot. Ambiance is very nice for a late dinner - modern and candle lit. I can imagine the restaurant comes off as a little dark during the day. My boyfriend and I ordered tempura shrimp/veggies and pad kee mow. Tempura was large- I would recommend for 4 or more people. The tempura batter was light and crunchy and the dish was served with a thing sweet white vinegar sauce. Good flavor! The beef pad kee mow had good flavor, we ordered it with half the normal level of spice. The sweetness of the Thai basil balanced the spice nicely and the noodles were perfectly cooked. My one issue was the beef was way over cooked and chewy. We didn't eat the beef. Total bill was around $35 with tip for the two dishes. Slightly expensive considering the beef was inedible.

Emily N.

Yelp
We really enjoy the food at Mango Thai. The fried rice and Pad Kee Mao are some of our favorites. Sushi is pretty good too. However, service is really slow (and has been even pre-pandemic). We always account for that prior to going to the restaurant such as not coming super hangry and adding a few minutes before going to pick an order up. Everyone is always really nice and we very much enjoy the food so we do continue to eat here!

Valerie C.

Yelp
Great food, service and ambiance. This is not a huge place like Terza or Chesters.... So there was no issue with crowds or noise. Spices were right on along with the heat! Really enjoyed the chilled lychee sake! Will return again next time I'm in town.

Hannah G.

Yelp
I can't express how appalled I am at the treatment I just received from the manager HERSELF. I listed allergy to nuts and peanuts on my order, saw cashews were added when I picked it up- you've heard it 100x. The kicker is that the manager blamed me saying I said to add cashews despite me looking at the receipt and only seeing the allergy notice. SERIOUSLY!! she said "you made the mistake..." Then says I need to return the food to get a refund. I live 15 minutes away and already trashed it. Not to mention the rest of the food sucks. shame on you management.

Amy C.

Yelp
I heard that this was one of the best Thai restaurants in the city, so I decided to check it out for dinner. The ambiance is lovely; with large candles placed along the bar spaced between beautiful large orchids in based. I especially liked the red lanterns hanging off the ceiling. I was seated promptly, but unfortunately my order of pad thai with chicken and shrimp took 30+ minutes to come out, which I usually don't expect from a Thai restaurant. The food itself was quite good and beautifully presented, but flavorwise it didn't stand out to me as being any better or worse than pad thai that I have had from restaurants in other cities. For the price ($13) the portion size was also quite small. Food: 3/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 3.5/5

Liza E.

Yelp
Food is spicy, tasty and hot. The staff barely says a peep, but it's food court food and not a deal breaker and it helps to speed up the line. Red curry is awesome with a side of broth and broccoli- we make our own curry soup bc the curry is really spicy and they can't tone it down per order. Pad Thai was not stellar. It was almost sucky sweet and monotone without a lot of depth of flavors.
