Miami's Best Grocery Stores - Miami - The Infatuation

"Foodtown is not in Miami. It’s in Davie. But with light traffic, it’s only like a 40-minute drive and what else do you have to do? Plus, this is a very fun store to browse through and the variety here is very impressive. You’ll find tons of imported Asian foods, halal meats, and Indian specialties. Also, the shopping complex that houses Foodtown is home to some of the best Asian restaurants in all of South Florida. " - Carlos C Olaechea, Ryan Pfeffer

The Best Restaurants In Davie's Foodtown - Miami - The Infatuation

"This is the holy grail of supermarkets. On the outside, it may seem like just another version of a Presidente or Sedano’s. But once you step inside, it’s like the United Nations of food. Every aisle stocks ingredients from a different region of the world: South America, South Asia, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, East Asia, the Caribbean, and so on. There is a halal butcher in the back as well as a conventional butcher that sells almost every part of the pig. The seafood department is one of the most varied we’ve seen anywhere, you’ll discover fruit you’ve probably never even heard of in the produce section, and there’s even a miniature Chinese bakery where you can grab mooncakes 365 days a year. This is the place to visit when your pantry needs a makeover. " - Carlos C Olaechea

Mango Tree Supermarket Davie - Review - Davie - Miami - The Infatuation

"This is South Florida’s holy grail of supermarkets and is the primary reason why people come to this strip mall in Davie. On the outside, it may seem like just another version of a Presidente or Sedano’s. But once you step inside, it’s like the United Nations of food. You’ll likely hear a dozen different languages spoken, from Bengali and Tagalog to Arabic, Serbian, and Maya. Every aisle stocks ingredients from a different region of the world: South America, South Asia, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, East Asia, the Caribbean, and so on. There is a halal butcher in the back as well as a conventional butcher that sells almost every part of the pig. The seafood department is one of the most varied we’ve seen anywhere, you’ll discover fruit you’ve probably never even heard of in the produce section, and there’s even a miniature Chinese bakery where you can grab mooncakes 365 days a year along with loaves of milk bread, BBQ pork buns, and light-as-air cakes. They also have a selection of sakes and some other Asian liqueurs, Middle Eastern and Balkan cheeses, frozen Turkish pastries, Indian TV dinners, Ayurvedic beauty products, and more types of tea than you can drink in a year. There is even a small steam counter where you can grab samosas, Bangladeshi curries, and pick out a whole fish that they will cook fresh for you. Mango Tree is the perfect place to stock up on ingredients for any international recipe you’re attempting, or just a great store to visit when your pantry needs a makeover. There are a few things to keep in mind before you visit: It can get very busy on weekend afternoons and right around 5pm on weekdays, and the shelves can be a little disorganized, making it hard to find what you’re looking for." - Carlos C Olaechea

Nothing but fresh fruits and vegetables to choose from. I was so overwhelmed with so much to choose from until I had to limit myself until my next visit. If you haven't tried you need to give them a visit and see what I'm talking about.

I’ve visited Mango Tree Market a few times now, and unfortunately, I’ve had repeated issues with poor customer service. On my most recent visit, I went in to purchase some lemongrass. There was no price tag or barcode, so the cashier called for assistance. The first colleague couldn’t help, and the second person who came over also didn’t have a solution. No one offered an apology or any real explanation—just told me to come back tomorrow to speak with someone from the right department. This wasn’t an isolated experience. On a previous visit, I wanted to buy Blackcurrant cordial. There was a sign for it, but no product on the shelf. When I asked about it, I was told the person responsible wouldn’t be in until the next day and again, I’d have to return. The store carries a wide range of unique products, which is great, but the customer service consistently feels disorganized and indifferent. Being told to “come back tomorrow” without any effort to help in the moment leaves a bad impression. I hope management takes steps to improve the customer experience.

Google
I love shopping here for produce, fruits, various meat, fish and crabs. It's always clean. Also, customer service is good.

Google
Nice and clean asian grocery store, items a bit pricy, but it's a one stop shop where you could find almost anything you need for Asian cooking, free parking, lots of space, many other small asian restaurants in the same strip, live seafood on site

Google
Mango Tree Supermarket is a fantabulous international shopping experience like no other! They have food from all over the world and it's a convenient place to find what you're looking for on a Country-wide level. I'm in love with their C-h-e-e-s-e. <3 Teehee ^_^

Google
This place is absolutely stunning. The sheer variety of imported merchandise in this outlet is just unmatched around here. There are separate rows of merchandise based on origin; like Indian, Bangladeshi, middle eastern etc. The fish and meat section are both full of varieties. I loved their frozen and dried fish section, I guess the best collection within a few hundred miles. There's a deli inside that has delicious snacks and desi style lunch/dinner options. And best of all, simply outstanding pricing. I hope they had more space, it's almost packed to the ceiling! Sometimes the strong smell from the butcher and fish outlet gets into front which is kinda ..not cool.. but again...outstanding .

Since 2011 I’ve been a fan of this supermarket! You can find whatever comes to your mind when it’s time to cook. Products from Asia, Africa, Europe, South and Central America, all separated very carefully. The produce department is amazing, very fresh and a huge variety of fruits and vegetables, Seafood department amazing, there’s even an eels tank, crabs, and depending on the season even lobsters and frogs, it’s mandatory visit when friends come to town!! Don’t miss it. If you like to cook and create in your kitchen you have to go there!!

Food Town Store Review: Food Town Store offers a mixed experience that leaves much to be desired. While the prices are reasonable, the overall cleanliness and occasional unpleasant odor detract from the shopping experience. One aspect that stands out at Food Town is its pricing. The store provides competitive prices, allowing customers to stretch their budget without compromising on quality. It is a relief to find affordable options without sacrificing the quality of the products. From fresh produce to pantry staples, Food Town's pricing makes it an attractive choice for budget-conscious shoppers. However, the cleanliness of the store leaves much to be desired. Unfortunately, there are instances where the store falls short in maintaining a clean and tidy environment. This issue can be off-putting, as customers expect a certain level of cleanliness when they visit a grocery store. Regular cleaning and diligent maintenance are essential to create a pleasant shopping atmosphere. Additionally, the occasional stinky odor can be a turnoff. Unpleasant smells can be found in certain areas of the store, which further detracts from the overall shopping experience. This aspect raises concerns about the store's attention to detail when it comes to hygiene and customer comfort. Despite these shortcomings, Food Town Store has redeeming qualities in terms of its prices. The affordability of their products allows shoppers to find great deals and save money on their grocery purchases. This aspect alone may attract customers who prioritize budget-friendly options over other considerations. In conclusion, Food Town Store presents a mixed experience. While the prices are commendable and cater to those on a budget, the lack of cleanliness and occasional stinky odors are significant drawbacks. It would be beneficial for the store management to prioritize cleanliness and odor control to enhance the overall shopping experience. By addressing these issues, Food Town Store has the potential to become a more appealing option for a wider range of customers.

Yelp
I have been coming it since it was Food Town. Back before other large scale Asian mart competition pops up in the area. Ok, nothing like HMart, but when Food Town first opened, we Asian folks who were used to small stores with just a few aisles of jam-packed products, walked in there with dropped jaws and tears in our eyes. After so many years, competition has grown, and sadly this place has gone a bit old and stale. The unpleasant smell is noticeable as you walked in. Okay, the smell was always there but now it's worse. Things look more broken and dirty. Nonetheless, it's still convenient to stop by here to shop when visiting the many Asian eateries in Davie. Go in there, get a bubble tea, a few bakery items, before your shopping begins in earnest. I still love their vegetables selection. Such a wide selection of produce, many hard to find elsewhere. I love how it adds variety to my cooking, and I am always tempted to pick up something new to try, without a clue what to do with them, like banana flowers and small green balls of Thai eggplants. There are fresh seafood and meat as well, though I seldom shop them due to cleanliness concern. But for dry goods, their selection is really nice. I hope the management will do better upkeep of the place.

Yelp
I realize they get violations from the state for cleanliness, BUT STILL... where are you going to get live turtles, conch, eels, frogs? It's quite the experience to go in this store and shop. I went to 2 local Asian markets in Hollywood, looking for loose leaf green tea.... Nothing. Drove the 6 miles to Mango and they have 4-5 options. They have exotic produce you don't see anywhere else. They have a variety of potatoes that no other grocery store in Hollywood has. Prices are excellent - if you know what you're looking for. Kosher food available, as well. Place has an odor - I'm not going to lie. But I've never been in an International market that doesn't have an odor. Best thing about this market is the fact that you can find any ingredient you're looking for - be it Indian, Mexican, Asian, Italian etc, etc.. If you're looking to try a new ethnic dish at home and you need certain ingredients, chances are, you will find them here. You won't find corned beef here, but you will find pork belly, pig gonads, goat head, black roosters,, dumplings, Kefir leaves, lemon grass, and a great variety of mushrooms. Even lions mane. I don't think there's another International market as close as this one is to Hollywood, Cooper City, Davie, Lake Forest. Just don't complain about the odor. It comes with the territory. Wink.

Yelp
Mango Tree as a name elicited thoughts of the tasty fruit, but it is actually an international supermarket of sorts. A Chinese bakery stall greeted us by the entrance and enticed a friend into buying a baked goods as a treat. While I decided to sample a chilled banana drink. Too much artificial flavoring, but what did I expect? The bun was good though!

Yelp
The variety of products is unbelievable, they have it organized by country so you can find everything you need and more!!
google avatar

Yelp
Wow! Being able to find all your childhood favorites and favorites from other countries in one store in Florida is the best feeling ever. Fresh meats, incredible staff and place is kept clean and organized well. I will be doing a once a month shopping here.

Yelp
Located on Stirling Road between 441 and University in a strip mall with many Asian restaurants, this grocery store has quite a variety of items you didn't even know you might want. This used to be FoodTown and while it's essentially the same bones, it definitely seems to have some improvements. For starters, while there is a little smell when you first walk in, it's not quite the punch you in the face stench it used to be with the previous location. Their produce section is quite abundant with great variety and good quality items. Seafood department is also quite large with live items and many whole fish options as well some other exotic choices. I didn't have a chance to go down the aisles but there were many of them and they all seemed well stocked. Worth a trip if you are in the area looking for something specific or even if you just want to try something new.

Yelp
What an interesting Supermarket! When I saw the name, I assumed it was a Spanish/Caribbean market, but it turns out that also with having Spanish items they also carry Asian, and Indian brand products! They have very good weekly deals, and prepared foods, and juices/smoothies available for purchase.
google avatar

Yelp
Great supermarket. Has a variety of things from different cultures. It does smell like raw fish and raw meat, so if you can't stand that, don't go there or take a mask. They can be a bit pricey sometimes but they have lots and lots of options of Asian cuisine and Hispanic as well. Pretty much anything besides American. Even found lychee there.

Yelp
This used to be called Food Town for years and is now called Mango Tree. On top of the pomegranate sour, I splurged and decided to get red and yellow lentils, , extra fine bulgur (looking forward to çiğ köfte recipe), ayran beverage, manti (Turkish raviolis with yogurt) and two types of Labnes. Workers, including a cashier named, Kristin knew right away what items I was looking for. They were out of Turkish soujuks. I had to skip the frozen lahmacun. Plenty of Turkish style cheese on the left side of the store near freezers. I need to figure out how to make my own lahmacun since I refuse to pay 20 bucks for a box of 6. However, this place is it when you're looking for things you need that you can't find in a usual grocery store. My son even enjoyed the lokums, also know as Turkish delights, in the past. They have a bunch of those here. The only complaint is the nasty smell throughout the store -- for some reason they couldn't seem to get rid of it.

Yelp
This is the new "Foodtown". They have the best variety of Asian food in all of Broward. I love their Chinese Broccoli, baby bok choy, snow pea tips and oyster mushrooms. Prices are good and because the place is always crowded, the vegetables are always fresh, Their seafood department is the largest that I know of. They Jane fish from around the world and types that I have never heard of. Take a number wait your turn and they will clean your fish to order and then you return 15-20 minutes later up pick it up. If you adds into different things, they have turtles, eels and live blue crabs. Their rice isles are overwhelming with so many choices. They have tons of Jasmine rice, Basmati rice, black rice, and my favorite, short grain brown rice from California. They sell "fresh crop" which means that it has a ribbon stating that it was harvested this year. If you want to travel without getting on a flight. Spend and hour or two here learning about food from all over Asia and Central America. I always try something new each time I go.

Yelp
Came here for some late night desserts today, my friends often shop here for a lot of their Asian and Indian foods, and I wanted to check it out. They had so many things, it was really great, and I ended up buying three different different ice creams Came in for some ube ice cream, ended up getting a half gallon of a fun ube/cookies and cream, another of macapuno coconut, and a box of melonas, a creamy ube popsicle one of my faves. If not for the pungent and varying odors throughout the store i would give this five stars but in some areas it really needs some ventilation.

Yelp
Really happy with the selection of brands at Mango Tree. I was expecting Food Town but happy to see this supermarket is still here under a new name. The bakery items are limited but fresh and ready for you, I used to love a hotdog scallion bun when I lived in nyc and swing by a Chinese bakery so very happy to see it close by. So many good brands, great location. Going to make a nice noodle dish for the potluck this weekend!
google avatar

Fazal R.

Yelp
It was worth a visit to find items that are not available in my local asian grocery store in Orlando. They also have a spot in the front corner where there's food shop. I will return when I come pass by the south side.

Yelp
I found it, yall. I found the Asian market of my dreams!! Okay, so there isn't an H-Mart or an Awajimaya anywhere within hours of us, and I've frequented a few Asian grocery markets since moving to southern Florida, but I could never find all the items I needed in ONE MARKET: I think I've found it! I was soo excited, I felt like a kid in a candy store! There's fresh produce, fresh & live fish & crab, a tea section, spices galore, they even have a small deli that I heard it pretty good. Although it's not close to us, WE WILL BE BACK!! Woo-hoo!

J D.

Yelp
The first sign that things are bad here is that when ever the doors open, a massive stench comes out of this grocery store. It smells like a mix of rotten eggs, feces, and rotten fish, it's so bad that the smell if it could be bottled, could be sold as one of those prank "bad smell" sprays. It's even more foul inside. The source is their open market sea food area, with live turtles and other things crawling around. This is how grocery stores were 100 years ago and that it's going on in Davie is wild.

Ariela D.

Yelp
Horrendous Customer Service. Do not to buy a lot of fruit because if it's spoiled when you open it, they do not take returns or do an exchange. They basically sell you spoiled fruit and then say Too Bad for you, we got your money and don't care if you're satisfied. Plus the fruit is overpriced, I get better prices in other stores. $7.49 for a Honeydew, they must be smoking... To top it off, the store smells like rotten fish, unless you''re into that...
google avatar

Wenjun W.

Yelp
Bought a durian. Stored it in the refrigerator and 2 days later it was completely moldy. The store said they only accept returns within 24 hours. Be careful what you buy there. Never back to shipping again.
google avatar

Julie C.

Yelp
So I seen this market where I went and I said well let me check this place out it's an Asian supermarket they have all kinds of fish fruits, produce all sorts of teas from all all over the world. They have a lot of variety of things they have Spanish items what caught my eye. I had seen these red eggs which their duck eggs but I think I will be back again because they have a lot of I variety items I need to see it all

Wanda B.

Yelp
Every kind of fresh vegetable you can name. I felt like I was on the streets of a foreign country and the herbs and fresh seafood was the same. The store is well stocked, smells great and clean. The staff are kind and knowledgeable in every department.
google avatar

Vancy S.

Yelp
I drive about 45 minutes to come get Asian groceries. It has the best selection for international food items from Asian, middle eastern, Indian, Latin and more you will find it here. The price is a bit high on some items but overall good compared to Miami Beach. I love the fish market area the staff are so great they cut the fish for you. You just tell them how you want it. I love buying the herbs and vegetables they look fresh. Worth the drive once a few months.
google avatar

Sun Bunny 4.

Yelp
It's really is the grocery store for Asian produce and products. Much cleaner than most Asian supermarkets but like most Asian supermarkets, the live fish section smells so I avoid it.

Chi T.

Yelp
Many times selling bad produce. Cannot return. Mold and bad on produce. Bad service not recommended.
google avatar

Yelp
This was a well set up market with everything you need to cook Asian. Plenty of Korean bar bq meats too. Just love it!
google avatar

Maria K.

Yelp
Great international grocery store (formally called Foodtown) with a variety of groceries from different countries including FRESH vegetables, fresh fish, Halal meat (with a butcher counter! deli meat! And more), a fresh food court in the back with Bengali food, Korean Ramen, frozen foods, and more. It's a one stop spot for groceries and we love coming here regularly

Linda M.

Yelp
Prices went up. Now it's more expensive comparing to the decent stores we have around!! I'm totally disappointed. The prices were more affordable before they sold their locations to the current owners .
google avatar

Sunny M.

Yelp
I love a good Asian grocery store and frequently shop at another in Plantation, Enson Mart. I was in the plaza getting dinner at the dumpling place next door and decided to walk through Mango Tree supermarket to see the prices and if they had a few items I can't find at my usual spot. Upon walking in I went right to the produce section, which was well stocked a large variety of fruits and veggies. Great prices, everything looked in good condition. I was getting excited because they had a few items my plantation store does not have. I made my way through to the seafood section where they have huge fish selection on ice. I was hit with the most intense smell I've ever smelled in my life. Not the kind of fish section smell you usually smell, not the particular smell of an Asian super market. It was foul and hot. I walked fast as possible past and the smell got stronger. I don't think it was even coming from the fish section but in the low, open freezer section next to it. It smelled like an animal was dead inside of one of the machines. You couldn't smell this at the front of the store or in the produce section but in the back half it was inescapable. I had to leave without buying anything.
google avatar

Jennifer G.

Yelp
A place to visit for all your around the world culinary needs! This market covers all of Asia! Definitely spent a good amount of time here exploring every aisle. Very crowded but what can you expect it's a supermarket after all!
google avatar

Erika A.

Yelp
I stepped into the store and could have sworn the stench of a hundred dead beings was suspended in the air. I held my breath and because I was curious about the variety of mushrooms, I darted over to the produce section, grabbed a container of oyster mushrooms (three large oyster shrooms for $3- a total steal) and went to pay. I almost gave up and left them there because the line was long and I couldn't bear the odor. I can't give this market a fair assessment because I couldn't linger long enough to peruse the place. The stench was probably just about the worst thing I've ever smelled. Proceed at your own risk.

Thao N.

Yelp
supermarket mango tree food no good manager no good. Serve it. No good. I buy something mango teen very bad I want Again, I want I want action I want I would like to exchange manager don't care say you can call polic everybody be careful 24 hour no return I eat food I get sick and very hurt. I need to go hospital.
google avatar

Larry S.

Yelp
I ate at one of the restraints next door and I needed a bag of ice. I decided to pop in here for the ice. I left in less than 10 seconds. The moment you walk in the door you are slapped in the face with the stench!!! It smells like a port a potty that has been sitting in the parking lot of a frat house and not cleaned for a good 2 months. Honestly I thought I had stepped in dog feces 10 out of 10 would not advise!!!!
google avatar

Noyb M.

Yelp
Excellent shop with wide selections of everything! They literally have anything you can imagine! I don't complain about the price because everything is expensive nowadays! Some people complain about the smell! They just haven't been to any other stores beside Publix!

Ut L.

Yelp
Make sure to check your receipt every time you go! Be aware of what you buy and what they charge you on the screen.

Shari H.

Yelp
All I can say is this is an experience. If you are into food, you'll love the adventure. But it's not for everyone, especially picky Americans who don't understand the aromas and offerings. I've been shopping here since it was FoodTown and I see a change for the better now that it's Mango Tree. Cleaner store, better organized and still a lot of fun to shop.

Febri Y.

Yelp
the Mango tree in davie sell Expired food also when customers complain The employee just returned the money with bad attitude without explanation and One of employee call the police and finally police come and we tried to explain the situation we have from Employee there is No Attitude from customer

Faith H.

Yelp
If you can get past the innocuous smell of live frogs and turtles standing in feces, the dry goods I would say are safe. Good choice of mushrooms (maitake, shiitake, reishi, trumpet, oyster, etc.) and lots of Asian fruits and vegetables you can't find elsewhere, and teas, dried goods and more.

Michdlle M.

Yelp
This ethnic store is great. All the bad reviews are coming from the fact that there is a Palestinian flag hung in the shop. There is also an American, Mexican, Russian, and every flag in between because it is an ETHNIC store. Do not let the bad reviews from these demented people deter you from shopping here. Clean store with good service. People are targeting this business and it needs to stop, they sell Palestinian food not BOMBS ?!

Mark R.

Yelp
While the food choices are interesting, customer service is non existent. They simply don't care about you. The place is not the cleanest, it has somewhat of a southeast Asian vibe. Never again. Places much better with similar choices.

Inbar F.

Yelp
Never had I smelled such a bad horrible supermarket in my life.... I dont know what died in there but why dosnt no one clean it up? Dont forget whatever the price is on the shelf is not the price they ring u up at the cashier... sucks

Viktor L.

Yelp
Great food options, lots of variety of almost everything authentic ! Lots of fruits and vegetables!!! Service is great and fast . Please do something with the smell thous

Sofia D.

Yelp
It's a great place. Bought some great vegetables. Always fresh, especially the bok choi.

Keren G.

Yelp
this place smells horrible, seems like they never clean there, definitely not a place I would want to buy food from!
