The greatest hole in the wall spot! We walked by this small restaurant and had no idea there was Thai food in this area. It was pretty empty on a Sunday evening with maybe two tables occupied, but service was super nice and the decor is so cute! A great spot for an intimate date.
I came back with two of my friends for dinner on Tuesday night and the owner recognized me from a few days prior haha. We were seated and served immediately - the owner is so sweet and food came out very quickly. We ordered the crying tiger salad, pad see ew, boat noodle, crispy pork belly with rice, and tom yum goong soup.
The crying tiger salad was my favorite - thinly sliced beef on a bed of onions, lettuce, and tomato covered with a sweet and tangy flavorful fish sauce. SO good and we were given plenty of steak. The pad see ew was good, great wok flavor and the noodles were delightfully chewy. The boat noodle was good, a bit sweet and I wish it had more garlic but good flavor. The crispy pork belly was crunchy with a melt-in-your-mouth texture. It was yummy eaten with the rice and the crying tiger sauce, although the chili oil on the side is spicy! The tom yum goong soup was super tangy and flavorful - great for those who like sour soups.
For dessert, we ordered the mango sticky rice and the fried bananas with ice cream. The mango sticky rice was perfect! The rice wasn't undercooked, coconutty with a yummy chewy texture. The mangos were sweet and succulent - many places often have unripe or sour mangos so this was so good. The fried bananas was piled high - freshly-fried, crunchy, and sweet. Perfect paired with the vanilla ice cream.
We left extremely stuffed and satisfied. Some of the best Thai food I've had in Charleston with GREAT portion sizes. I cannot believe more people do not know about this place. We will definitely be back!!!
