The Best Restaurants to Know in the Florida Keys

"Just three minutes from Midway Cafe, Mangrove Mike’s also features Manny & Isa’s Key lime pies and takes the dessert a step further with Key lime pancakes made with Key lime pie filling and drizzled with a citrusy Key lime sauce. Family-owned since 1998, the diner is open 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily and has Keys delicacies on the menu like seafood benedict and a seafood omelet (stuffed with lobster, blue crab, hogfish, shrimp, or mahi) for breakfast along with an extended list of pancakes, waffles, and French toast. Lunch menu essentials include the tater tot towers, fish sandwiches, burgers, and signature plates like country fried steak." - Allison Ramirez

This establishment offers an excellent dining experience with delicious food choices. We particularly enjoyed the cinnamon bun French toast and the breakfast quesadilla, and there was a good variety of options available for children. The prices were quite reasonable, the portions were generous, and the quality was outstanding. I understand they are also well-known for their tater tot tower, and we observed a selection of appealing seafood dishes as well. Its proximity to our accommodation was an added convenience, which we appreciated. We will definitely go back.

I loved everything about this place! The food was plentiful, well prepared and tasty! Big selection on the menu for both breakfast and lunch. I had a hard time choosing what to eat! Loved the tuna fish sandwich as it wasn’t drowning in mayonnaise. Burgers were great and so were the fries and coleslaw. I will be back again.

Google
We loved Mangrove Mike’s!!! We were headed back to Miami and had seen details about this restaurant on a few YouTube videos we had watched prior to our trip. It exceeded everyone’s recommendation. I had the seafood Oscar and had blue crab as my seafood, and it was fantastic! I highly recommend this restaurant and this dish. It’s a very cool place. The service was great. We arrived fairly early so did not have to wait to be seated. It is worth a stop for sure. I’m not sure what the alligator story is, but I thought it was very cool.

We had a great breakfast here. The menu is amazingly diverse in a charming little diner atmosphere. We are a bit picky and they accommodate our special requests without hesitation.

Google
Awesome little restaurant in Islamorada! We were recommended this place by a friend of ours and are so glad we stopped here. The breakfast was amazing and my son really liked the Chicken sandwich as well. We stayed in Marathon so we didn’t make it here until we left the keys. It was a little busy that day but well worth the wait. We had 7 people which was about the max for them but even larger parties they were able to split up and accommodate. I would definitely go back if we got the chance!

Google
Great place for a traditional breakfast. Service was fast, food was great. Menu had plenty of normal options, as well as some off the wall items that made it that much better!

Google
This place has wonderful reviews and it did not disappoint. The portions are large and delicious. Lots of gluten free options as well.

Google
This breakfast spot captures everything you love about Key West—bright, relaxed, and full of island charm. The atmosphere feels breezy and welcoming, like starting your day on a sunlit porch. The food is fresh and flavorful every time. Fluffy pancakes, perfectly cooked eggs, and coffee that actually wakes you up. Simple, delicious, and made with care. A great place to soak in the island vibe and start your morning right.

Yelp
Mangrove Mike's is a great place to enjoy breakfast when staying in Islamorada. We have eaten here at least one day each of the four times we have visited over the last 4 years. Get there early in the AM (before 10am) if you can because it can get quite busy. We arrived around 9 am and got seating at the counter right away one day and at a table for two the other day.

Yelp
Delicious breakfast and brunch options in Islamorada, FL. Lots of impressive fishing photos throughout the sitting areas showcasing Mike's success as a skilled fisherman. Service was very pleasant despite the large crowd waiting to be seated. Use this time to walk around their gift shop and pick up some fun souvenirs. Food took a little while to come out, so enjoy your coffee or a mimosa.

Yelp
We are in aisle, Islamorada , Florida. Mangrove Mike's is right next-door to our hotel the Sunset Inn. We tried Mangrove Mike's years ago and just haven't gone back in there, but the smells that we were getting in the morning from their breakfast cooking we couldn't resist. We had a wonderful breakfast of a waffle with banana and walnuts. American fries with sautéed onion on top and eggs Benedict, the ham on the eggs Benedict couldn't have been thicker. The eggs were true poached eggs, perfectly cooked. The waffle was probably the best waffle I've ever had bonus that they offered sugar-free syrup as well as regular syrup. We were very happy with our breakfast. Our only issue was that the waitress was in a rush to get us in and out of there at least we felt that way. She came back three times asking if we were ready to order as we were reading the menu, we finally said when we put our menus to the side will be ready to order. Mangrove Mike's is truly a place for the locals to eat lots of police officers and the local fisherman were there enjoying their breakfast's as well. Plenty of parking with both indoors and outdoor seating.

Yelp
I was looking for a place with breakfast that was open early and had good food ! And this was the spot ... service was super efficient and fast . We got greeted and seated in a short period of time . And the food was as so good , I got the salmon with eggs Benedict's and it was delicious, fresh salmon full of flavor! Definitely a cute location , with a sea theme that is great for visitor and welcoming vibes !

Yelp
If you want a classic, delicious, slightly greasy, breakfast (maybe after a night out) - definitely head over to Mangrove Mike's! We love coming here for breakfast when we are in town. The food is always really good, the home fries are some of my favorite. You know it's good when all the local fishermen go there! Service is always great, friendly and attentive. The restaurant is not huge, which makes it more intimate and not as loud as other breakfast spots can sometimes be. Theme is fishing, which is very appropriate - and they are located right next to the Lobster Trap Art store, which is amazing!

Yelp
Great place for brunch between miami and key west. The servers are really nice amd thw place has a proper american diner vibe. Not too many vegetarian options but customisable. The lobster rolls were good but nothing out of the ordinary.

Yelp
Huge menu with breakfast and lunch options. Fresh and flavorful food. Great customer service. Small t shirt selection and the restaurant opens up into another store you can browse while you wait for your food. Would def give this place a go.

Ana R.

Yelp
The food was your typical breakfast diner food you'd expect, except everything including the pancakes taste the same I'm assuming everything is cooked in the same griddle without cleaning in between. The service was lackluster. Had to ask for a coffee refill. The server asked my preference on side options with no mention of upcharge. Later when the bill came, it had add on fees never mentioned. All in all, there are better places to pick from in Islamorada.

Yelp
Great little breakfast spot if you're heading to Key West or if you're heading back from Key West. Your traditional, American breakfast. Great friendly service very clean establishment. Reasonable price. Don't forget to take a look at the great big alligator they got in there!

Yelp
Best breakfast around Great service and food Very popular for decades and rightfully so Something for e everyone I'm hooked on the yogurt bowl with fresh fruit and granola Have to make an extra effort to finish it all Great place to eat

Yelp
My beautiful wife decided on this place based on reviews & we are very glad she did! It's a local place with great vibes. Everyone on the staff was VERY friendly. We split a cinnamon roll that was a touch crusty on the outside but very tasty with a very nice cream cheese icing. She had the Super platter with eggs, bacon & pancakes ( which came with hot syrup). She found the scrambled eggs tasty with their own hot sauce , the bacon was delicious & the pancakes while huge & good were a little tough. I had the breakfast quesadilla that came with sour cream & pico de gallo sauce with scrambled eggs, ham & cheese which was in a word outstanding! I also got a side of hash browns which was a huge portion but cooked & seasoned well. Our waitress Diane was always friendly & on top of everything even though she had several tables. We can't recommend Mangrove Mikes highly enough!

Yelp
A hidden gem! Stopped in for a quick breakfast with a few friends and we were so stunned by how amazing our food and service was! Let's start with Service; the staff is extremely accommodating and they are working their butts off the entire time because this is a busy spot! We were never looking for the waitress or needing anything, she anticipated everything that we might need and they were so accommodating when people wanted to share meals. Now the food, the French toast sampler is a must try! Every single one of the flavors was delicious and we ate them and rated them after each flavor, the whole concept was just such a fun idea! The portions for all their meals are so big so it's very share friendly if you're someone who doesn't eat all that much and every single thing we tried was delicious! Price wise this is a steal or a spot! The food and everything was made so perfectly that you are definitely going to be spending your money well here! Ambiance, it is a smaller spot, but the vibe is very true to the Keyes diner vibe! Clean and authentic! 100% coming back can't wait to eat more French toast!

Yelp
Make sure you are ready to wait when you arrive as this place is popular. But it's worth it. It's got a nice vibe and the staff is really friendly. Of course, breakfast is on the menu. And on this particular day, I was feeling a need for some extra protein. And it just so happens they had a steak and eggs option on the menu. Exactly what I needed. And when it arrived, it was spot on. The steak was cooked properly and, as always, paired well with the eggs. Excellent start to the day!

Yelp
Everything went well!!! We sat down and were greeted by Dillon who was very friendly and attentive. He answered some of my questions and returned with our drinks. The restaurant is great! The atmosphere is very homey and inviting. DH ordered the eggs Benedict and I had the Nutella waffle. Their prices were very reasonable and the food was delicious! We're coming back before we leave. The gift shop is at the front of the restaurant and they sell rash guards and shirts. The logo is extremely interesting if you look at the details! :) This was a great experience and we're so glad that we decided to stop here for breakfast!

Yelp
I wish I took a better pic but loved my breakfast! I sat at the counter and it took a while for someone to finally ask if i'd been helped. Service was good after that though. Great diner style breakfast. Couldn't believe how big the pancakes were. Would definitely return.

Yelp
This eclectic badass spot is a well oiled machine run by a handful of fast paced women cranking out the heartiest tastiest breakfast platters! we always save this spot for the end of our trip to load up on hangover fuel-- the biscuits and gravy and huge omelets are fantastic. We ordered the Mexican omelette, eggs Benedict and a side of biscuits and gravy creamy goodness.

Yelp
I tried to go to Fu__ing Bagel but they decided not to open up on time. I remembered Mangrove Mikes open early so I went there before my fishing trip. I ordered two scrambled eggs, bacon, grits, and toast. The eggs were perfect. I think there were six pieces of bacon. I loved the grits. Service was outstanding. Give this local place a try.

Yelp
Coming from California I had to have a good Keylime pie. I've had Keylime pie all over the country, but never in Florida. And so, I wanted to taste the real thing. Coming highly recommended we had to stop here to pick up a Keylime pie. I would've just been happy with a slice, but the giant pie beckoned us and we purchased it to bring home. We were not disappointed. This thing was huge and amazing and is nothing like any Keylime pie I've had before. This was the real thing, not artificial in any way. The somewhat untraditional meringue topping was delicious. It had a bit of a caramel toast to it, and despite being in the car for several hours, served up wonderfully. I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for a Keylime pie that will knock your socks off.
google avatar

Alicia L.

Yelp
This place has a cool old-timey diner feel to it. Next time, we will sit at the counter, just for the fun of it! We had a nice server who provided great breakfast suggestions. The eggs were made expertly and tasted so good, and the pumpkin cream French toast was delicious.

Yelp
Food was good service was ok waitress didn't know we were her table I guess took forever to take our order. But the food came out super hot and fresh. My wife had the shrimp Po boy shrimp were cooked perfect but had no seasoning the sandwich needs pickles and mustard it was kind of bland. I had the blackened mahi which was really good and even better when I added my wife's coleslaw to it. Coleslaw by itself was not bad very mayo heavy but on the fish it was amazing.

Yelp
Super fun place with good food and good service - we were there for the Swim for the Alligator Lighthouse race and this spot was just what the Dr ordered. A 4th person joined us late, just as our food was going to come out and the waiter handled it like a champ and didn't miss a beat. We had omelets and pancakes and it was very good. I can't wait to go back again.

Miriam P.

Yelp
We waited a long time to be seated. The staff was running around like crazy but they needed more help to serve guests appropriately. Our food also took a long time to be served and we never got part of what we ordered. The food was bland and needed more seasonings. At the end I ended up paying at the gift shop cashier since our waitress was too busy in other tables. The food was not worth the wait.
google avatar

R J.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised with the good food and great service here. The portions are large and generous. The omelette is not overcooked/dry as in most places, and generously stuffed with whatever you ordered. They have several healthy bowls. The vanilla Greek yogurt with granola and fresh fruits is wonderful. The amount and variety of fruits is plentiful: banana, strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries. And the prices are good.

Yelp
I have been coming to Mangrove Mikes for years on my trips to and from Islamorada. I have always had a pretty good experience. The food is usually great, and reasonably priced. However this visit was sadly pretty terrible. I got the Mangrove Oscar, a usual favorite of mine. The "poached" eggs too were completely hard boiled. When I brought it to the staff's attention, she looked at me like I was crazy for asking them to remake the dish with poached eggs. Instead of remaking the dish, the kitchen took off the hard boiled eggs, put on properly poached eggs, then drowned the plate in bearnaise sauce. Because the kitchen didn't remake the dish, the steamed spinach that was sitting on top of the english muffins turned them to mush. Pretty horrible texturally... but at least they poached the eggs right. ‍ The service was overall pretty terrible as well. The server didn't refill drinks and seemed to be more interested spending time in the back of the house, than attending to her tables. I gave it two out of five stars simply based on prior positive experiences. This visit should be given 0 stars if that was even possible. Please look at all my other reviews, i'm generally pretty positive and it takes quite a bit to earn a terrible review from me.

Yelp
So this is EXACTLY the kind of place you want to find on any trip anywhere in the country! Can't believe Guy Fieri hasn't been here! Cool vibe, beachy diner feel with great decor, pictures on the wall, a great sea themed skull logo and a huge menu! They've got everything you could want for breakfast and all the accompaniments including home made salsa, guac, sour cream, hot sauce, peanut butter, sugar free syrup. Everything you could need! We had an amazing server from Ohio, whose name I didn't catch like I should've, but a great lady and nice AND really good at her job and making conversation. The food was phenomenal! I had the breakfast tacos which were in what tasted like fresh small flour tortillas that were grilled into a taco shape and filled with eggs, meat and cheese and came with Salsa, Guac and Sour cream. They were awesome! The pancakes were gigantic and the hash browns were well cooked. The best part was that I had banana nut pancakes that weren't just regular pancakes with bananas on top like most places, but actually had bananas and nuts INSIDE the pancake, which was awesome! We also took a homemade cinnamon roll with us for the long drive! You get a ton of food, at a very fair price, with excellent service and good quality. One of my top five breakfast places we've tried! Make the stop!
google avatar

Jennyva A.

Yelp
A cockroach was crawling right along the wall where we were sitting to eat lunch today. We were sitting towards the back where the kitchen is. Took my appetite away completely. The table by the was also really dirty. Would never come back here.

Julie S.

Yelp
The food was SO good and great portions! The menu is very expansive and everybody in our large party found something they liked and everybody enjoyed their food! Great gallery next door to browse and find some fun unique items to take home!
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered the Aci bowl, very little aci and it cost 15.00! my partner had the eggs Benedict with crab, costing 27.00! well the potatoes were very well done almost burned! The waitress was awesome!!!

Yelp
Since this restaurant is next door to the hotel I am staying at, I should check it out. The service is on point. Didn't take much time between sitting and getting my first cup of coffee. A necessity of life. I am a bagel kind of person. They actually have two choices, Lox stacked on a bagel, or a lox plate. To me, on a plate where I have complete control is the way to go. You will get quite a spread of everything you want to enjoy. Just try it. Then it comes to the art work on the walls. Who ever did this is very talented. From the outside it looks plan Jan but really... check it out.
google avatar

Jen S.

Yelp
Can I add more than 5 stars? I always loved Mangrove Mike's when I used to frequent the Keys, but I hadn't been since they got new management. It's JUST as good or even better than I remember. Absolute BEST cinnamon roll ever. The Everything but the Sink omelette is delicious and the eggs Benedict too. And the tator tots had the perfect crispy to soft ratio. Really, five stars and can't wait to go back!
google avatar

NY M.

Yelp
Have to be honest on my experience. Food had zero flavor. Price for 2 with 1 beer each was$75 dollars. My husband is a big guy that always finishes his food and loves hog fish but he could not even eat the $27 hog fish Benedict. It looked good, eggs were so over cooked and the fish was not breaded and had 0 seasoning. Again, just our experience, looks like many have enjoyed.

Owen B.

Yelp
Great staff and even more delicious food! We shared a warm home made cinnamon roll and breakfast! Our server Dillon was top notch! Great nautical atmosphere with the amazing art studio store inside. Will be back again!
google avatar

Delphine C.

Yelp
Amazing little town cafe! I knew this place was going to be good because first of all there was a wait, second there were giant homemade cinnamon rolls and cookies on display for purchase the second you walk in, and lastly it had a vintage vibe to the place. I got the tater tot tower and omg it was amazing! Have never had anything like it before! Be warned, it is a meal for about 3 people but I enjoyed every bite! Great staff, great food. Will definitely be back next time I come to town.
google avatar

Yelp
What a fantastic find in Islamorada. Old timey bfast spot. Staff super friendly. Food was delicious. Reasonable prices for the area. Will be our go to spot on future visits.

Yelp
Great diner with excellent food and reasonable prices. Stopped by here for breakfast on Monday and had a great breakfast. I had the country fried steak, my gf had the fried Brie sandwich and my daughter had the unicorn pancakes. We all really enjoyed our food. Service was good throughout. Lots of cool decor on the walls everywhere. Perfect place for breakfast if you're in the area.
google avatar

Garrett B.

Yelp
The cinnamon roll French toast was incredible, so much of it too! They really are famous for the French toast, it's a must try. The BLT was ok, not bad but nothing special. The servers are all friendly locals, feels like a family owned business for sure. Inside has cool pictures and art on the walls that give it a key's feel.
google avatar

Garret B.

Yelp
Staple in the middle keys.. If you have never been, go! This isn't your running mill breakfast/lunch places. Good vibe, great service and delicious food.
google avatar

Shawn F.

Yelp
This place did not disappoint. Fun atmosphere, great food and friendly service. The star of the show was definitely the hostess, Kelly! We felt welcomed from the very moment we walked through the doors, such great energy! Do yourself a favor and order a slice of Keylime pie... Best I have ever had!
google avatar

Don J.

Yelp
This place is a must stop every time staying in Islamorada or just passing through. The food is always spot on and the portions are generous. The service is very good. They are always busy and the staff keeps people moving in & out.
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
Good reviews! looking for a dine in breakfast in the AC with no mosquitos. This is the place with the giant shark on the outside. Great prices and service. Busy but service is prompt and food came out quick. Portions are huge! I should have asked about the gravy in my country scramble because I thought it came on the side or at best over the house potatoes but they drench it on the scrambled eggs with ham. It had a unique flavor that I wasn't ready for but it was good. The nice thing it was piping hot. I love hot food in a restaurant. Next time I'll Ask for it on the side or try another dish. The eggs Bennies looked good. This is definitely a great spot for breakfast. And they serve till 2pm.

Yelp
Enjoyed the food and service at mangrove Mike's. Love thay it gave off the local anglers vibe. From the painted walls of maps of the Florida keys, the photos of sports fish boat, and men holding fish, you definitely get the keys vibe I always grew up with. Many different options from varieties of omelets, pancakes, to prepared potato's. I ordered two eggs scrambled with toast, hash browns and bacon. Food tasted fresh and was what I expected - delicious. Plus they had deli sandwich's to go which is good to know before a long day fishing. Definitely will pick up from here in the future. My biggest complaint - the yelp description is not accurate. There is no outdoor seating unlike the description on Yelp says. Would've been very helpful to know that there was no outdoor seating before taking a dog here... please update the yelp to stop the confusions
google avatar

Yelp
Great service! Our waiter Dylan was on point and the hostess was a sweetheart. Great food! Had large party with a 5yr old and a baby. We all ordered something different and enjoyed every bite! Hats off to the kitchen staff!
google avatar

Susan W.

Yelp
Great little place for breakfast (they also serve lunch, but we stopped for breakfast before heading North). Very cute, clean and good service. Food and coffee were good and topped it off with a giant cinnamon bun.
google avatar

Mike C.

Yelp
Great food and service. We enjoyed breakfast for several days and couldn't be more pleased.
google avatar

M T.

Yelp
We stopped in for breakfast and the place seemed packed because the parking lot was packed, but we sat down right away. We ordered the oatmeal, and the kitchen sink omelette with grits. The fruit in the oatmeal tasted good and fresh. The omelette was stuffed and was filling. The grits tasted flavorless. The service was also good.
google avatar

Yelp
If you're visiting this beautiful area and are in need of a hearty breakfast or lunch meal that'll not only satisfy your hunger and taste buds, but also help you recover from a hang over (this is actually a menu item), and have you schedule an appointment with your cardiologist - this is the place! The staff is warm and friendly. The food - tasty. The ambiance - eclectic. Just a fun, small, and busy local spot where you're treated well and you'll leave gasping for air because the food tasted so good you didn't leave anything on your plate and now you're bloated and four pounds heavier; but the visit was worth it and you'll do it again tomorrow because you wanna to try the "Kitchen Sink Quesadilla", or the "Craig's Hangover Helper". Yes, tempt your caloric fate and visit again. I dare you. As you can tell I loved this place and will definitely visit again next time I'm "in the neighborhood". Keep doing you're thing Mangrove Mike. Oh! Did I mention the tater tots??!!! I didn't did I. They've got a tater tot tower menu item. No seriously they do...
google avatar

Annette S.

Yelp
If you like big portions this is the place for you! With gluten free options MM (Mangroves Mike's) has plenty of breakfast options from yogurt and fruit to gigantic pancakes, hash, eggs, omelets and tater towers which is definitely shareable for 4! Coffee was excellent, hot and not bitter or too strong. The server we had was new and she did an awesome job for all the different options we threw at her. I did find the pancake a bit "tough" not as light and fluffy as I prefer. Nice people, nice place!

Kevin C.

Yelp
Great experience! Food was good staff is attentive. Will be coming back next time we are in area!!

Yelp
Food was amazing! I suggest the corned beef hash. Really good coffee! Friends and fast service. Highly suggest stopping by!
