"On the corner of Main and Church Street, Manhattan is the perfect place to grab a slice and a brew before or after a show at Burlington’s beloved Flynn Theater. Manhattan’s down-to-earth local dive bar feel juxtaposed with a serious tap list along with an extensive and hearty pub menu makes surviving those cold Vermont winters a bit easier." - Heather Platt

Just had a late night slice and a cold beer. Boneyard, my favorite brewery was on tap!! The tap selection was huge. Great bar scene for Burlington in late June.

Google
This is solid pizza, a real all-rounder. The crust was chewy but not bland, the cheese made it all the way around the pie, the toppings were plentiful, and the service was excellent. It's not going to win any fine dining awards, but it's not trying to. It's honest, working class New York style. It's above average on all fronts, without winning any individual category. As for the bar...I miss the open mic. But the people who work there are great, the location is prime, and the drinks are reasonably priced. On all fronts, a very good place to spend some time.

Went here on a Friday night and it was pretty packed. All of the tables were filled but we found room at the bar. Great selection of beer and the pizza was really good! Quick service and a cool vibe. Would visit again!

Google
I’m vegan and this was top 3 vegan pizzas I’ve ever had. The owner was super nice. He’s vegan as well and offered to make a couple vegan slices for me out of his pie (and then I didn’t have to buy a whole pie). We got to talking about vegan options for the restaurant biz, which was cool. He also doesn’t up charge for vegan options. They were also knowledgeable about their beer selection

Google
Classic college bar. They have late night pizza that's not the best but it tastes amazing around 1AM. They have a coin-operated pool table that will keep you occupied whilst drinking a dozen Burlington beers and if you're lucky you'll hear their catchy closing call at 2AM!

Chris Giza

Google
Not a huge fan of this place. Got turned away once, seemingly because we were too old (we probably were) but tonight was Dale Boca empanada night so we had to pop in. Had a good quick bite with a special round of drinks. Solid tap list and not as bad earlier in the night for the 40 & + crowd.

Google
3rd time they left plastic In there pizza Dough never left to rise absolutely trash Under cooked and way over priced

Google
This place has gone downhill fast. Don’t go back in this place until they have a new owner.. He treats his employees terrible there are so many better choices in the area. Check back and see if they get new owners.(I hope so soon) It was always such a nice and friendly place before Dave took over. … staff was outstanding

Yelp
Manhattan Pizza & Pub came highly recommended to us by our coworker, so my boyfriend and I checked it out while visiting Burlington. The place was pretty empty when we stopped in, so we grabbed some seats at the bar. Both the bartenders working were really friendly and helpful. They have slices of pizza available, which was perfect as we were looking for a quick bite after a long day of bar hopping. I got a pepperoni slice, and my boyfriend got a specialty slice. Both slices were big and tasty! The crust on the pizza was crisp on the bottom, and the whole slice was covered in pepperoni. I tried a sour beer that was really delicious and we also got one from Hill Farmstead which was amazing! I love that they have gummy candy on their menu - listed as "free range, boneless" and "sustainably harvested"! I didn't order any, but it's a fun option and would be a nice sweet treat with some beer. My only complaint is that the bathroom was kind of gross. We'll definitely be back in the future when we're in town again.

Tito B.

Yelp
Bartender ignores me on purpose for 10 mins even though not very busy and then when I try to get her attention she acts like I'm an asshole. I would avoid!

Adam N.

Yelp
Being kind with this review because I liked the employees. The food was OK. The spot was good for watching a game and for beers. Tons of beers on tap. Hopefully they can improve the food game, though I imagine most of their business is late night college barfers. Just seemed like that type of place. Cheers!

Erin S.

Yelp
I normally don't do this, but last night a woman who works here was being brutal. She man-handled a girl by her hair, pushed another girl against the wall before shoving her out, and was giving terrible service. She was boasting about how she is a manager and saying she should have beaten up the girl she threw out by the hair. None of it was warranted and it was so aggressive. I love this bar and have never seen this broad, but she was making everyone so uncomfortable. I hope the owners know their manager is behaving like this and needs to be corrected.

Georgia H.

Yelp
Listen......the bar is so fun, but there is an employee named Rose, and she was being DISGUSTING to customers ..... I saw her drag a girl out by the hair.... And then five seconds later she told any other girl that she should have beaten her up and kicked another girl out for telling her to calm down. Whoever the employer are..... Rose is off her rockers... acting out of control. Whoever can help....... Please stop this for happening!!!!!!

Megan L.

Yelp
Great pizza, awesome service...what more could you ask for! We came here on a Saturday night without a reservation, after walking around Burlington for a bit trying to find a place that could seat us. Even though they were busy here, the staff was awesome with beer/food recommendations, and graciously kept us updated on table availability. We were able to snag a table outdoors, and our pizza came out shortly after that - hot, cheesy, and delicious :) I definitely recommend!

Tony C.

Yelp
Great place for slices in the heart of the university of Vermont in South Burlington. Extensive tap list highlighted by all the Vermont goodies. Lot of slices are available but went with a pulled pork pizza which was very good. Wanted to try their "monsterrella" sticks, which are huge homemade fried cheese but unfortunately they were sold out. At night on the weekends this place gets packed with a college crowd so come early if you want a spot at the bar. A go to spot if your in town for a beercation.

Tyler C.

Yelp
Had two beers and pizza, was great, but they charged me for three. If you do come here make sure to pay only with cash because you don't know what they'll do with your payment info.

Nicole E.

Yelp
Nice casual spot for good pizza, pulled pork sliders, fried pickles, and salads. Great beer selection and helpful and friendly staff. If you're looking for a nice, classy place for lunch, this is not your spot. It definitely has a, "college bar" vibe to it with the casual decorations, pool table and unappealing bathrooms (eeeek enter at your own risk). That said, the pizza is definitely good (not terrible by any means like other people describe) and the place is clean and well maintained for the most part. I would recommend for lunch, sports game, a slice of pizza and some delicious Vermont beers!

Justyna B.

Yelp
The absolute WORST pizza I've had in my entire life. My boyfriend and I got a pie and we both did not even finish one slice and left the box. Disgusting. I've had bad pizza that's still edible and it'll do the job, but this is a whole new level of bad. Gross gross gross.

Greg A.

Yelp
This place is fantastic! Some of the best pizza in Burlington Vermont and it's real Manhattan New York style thin crust stuff!

Garrett T.

Yelp
I've been to Burlington 3 times and every time I get to Manhattan pizza at least once or twice. Excellent vibes. The staff are extremely friendly and always provide 5 star service. Sit back. Enjoy a beer. Grab a slice. Share a few laughs. Also, they sell great shirts and sweatshirts! Thank you for everything Manhattan!

Yelp
The service my friend and I received this night was very harmful, which resulted in me leaving a comment on my tab. I do not see this as a reflection of this establishment as a whole because we are always welcomed when we arrive on our weekend and sometimes weekday trips to Manhattans. The bartender named Rose physically removed my friend from the bar using aggressive force to her arm and pulling her by her hair. While defending my friend, my beer was forcibly removed from my hand and my wrist was then touched, without consent, and I was asked in the rudest tone to leave the bar. The woman then told my friend that she wished she had beaten her up. Physical abuse is something I will not tolerate, especially while enjoying time at a place we love so much. My tolerance for rude service is fairly high considering I have worked in restaurants for 7+ years. This is my first time ever leaving a yelp review but I do believe this behavior warranted a written reaction. We still love Manhattans but this was a deeply disturbing experience.

Owen R.

Yelp
Very good slices. If you drink beer, good selection. Pool table. Could use some AC in summer.

Edward R.

Yelp
So I'm a black African American that has been in Vermont for awhile. So I came in July 3rd, 2022, with some friends and I was trying to get drinks for myself and friends. I noticed there were only two bartenders so I patiently waited 30 mins to be told when I reached out my hand to get one of their attention for her to say "that is not how you get a drink anywhere." (The girl that said that is 5'2 red hair and had a downward bun for her hairstyles). Now if she said I'll be with u in a min I would have been good. (It wasn't any of the bar backs cause we had a good conversation). Then I heard the two bartenders say that 'they' never tip. So first time I shrugged off the racial profile bit this one I can't . I'm a server and bartender so I always tip 20% or more but this is the first time I tipped ZERO. Vermont has been very racially inviting until this moment and I'm highly disappointed and upset. To top it off I realized I was overlooked when people in the same spot I was in got served before me, they were there for 5 mins. So I moved to see if I was in the wrong spot and still got neglected. I was not drunk cause I got let in to watch a friend before the rest of my friends could come in because of capacity rules. My name is Edward Ross. If you would like to reach me text 2406886383. Please don't call because I don't answer numbers I don't recognize cause of spam. Please excuse the run on sentences.

Harry K.

Yelp
Literally the worst bouncer I've ever met, would tell random people the bar was over capacity when it wasn't and make them stand outside in 15 degree weather. When he finally did let them in he didn't even card them. The bar definitely loses customers because this guy is so rude.

Amelia L.

Yelp
This is just a review on day time brews... awesome! Such a cool, friendly, knowledgeable bar tender and a totally different vibe on a Saturday afternoon. We really enjoyed stopping in for a drink and I'll probably be back for more evening visits- even though it's definitely a different vibe and crowd

Jeb B.

Yelp
Awful. Stood in line and froze to get cold veggie pizza. The bar was gross, needed to have been wiped down and the staff was not attentive. Awful.

Lucas M.

Yelp
My significant other and I visited here as part of our weekend vacation. We were satisfied. The Good: *Restaurant had a more casual bar-like atmosphere. Really more of a bar that serves pizza, which isn't a bad thing. *Service was excellent and fast, the lady at the bar was a delight. *The pizza was satisfactory. Not the best I've had but certainly not the worst. (We're from New York, so pizza is kind of our thing) *Good prices for what they serve The Not-So-Good: *No table service made it a bit awkward to order. Had to leave my table and walk up to the counter to order my pizza and beverages. *Beverages weren't quite filled all the way. Overall, we might return, but also may look to see if there is anything a little better.

Mike T.

Yelp
The pizza is tasty, NY style thin crust. You can order slices or pies. A large bar & quite a few tables for dining in. Others who noted the place is a bit dirty are correct. It would do them well to raise their standard of cleanliness. As well as using better lighting, a little to dark & gloomy. So, maybe get your food to go.

Ryan B.

Yelp
Good food, about it. My beer I ordered was pouring like crap and I saw the bartender pour a little soda water in the glass. He claimed he was cleaning the glass, but why clean if you are still pouring? The lady up front was flipping through pages of a magazine while I was trying to order and was just ignoring me. Finally someone came over and I told them I didn't want the beer. He walked over to the guy pouring to tell him and came back and said it would be just a minute the keg was pouring like crap. I said I didn't want it and wanted something else. He kept repeating sit down we will bring it out to you like some kind of bully. Totally BS way to handle customer complaints. Much better establishments in Burlington than to deal with these college chodes

Robby V.

Yelp
The area is very nice, a great spot to cool down after walking down church street, the store itself is very welcoming with great service. The food good for a decent price. They have pool in the back and an air conditioned dining area.

Mae B.

Yelp
Best pizza I've ever had. 10/10 on atmosphere as well. I had a ginger beer with bourbon and it was FANTASTIC. I'll definitely be back.

Chris M.

Yelp
Pros: good beer selection, slices pretty late Cons: new bouncer proudly accepts bribes to skip line while others wait. $20 should get you in if you're into paying to get into pizza places.

Lesleigh P.

Yelp
Great place to grab a quick slice at lunchtime. Loved the Upper East Side , which has fried eggplant and spinach, so delicious! It gets crowded quick, so go early! They serve coke products, and numerous local beers , I was on lunch so I couldn't indulge! I bought t-shirts for several people as souvenirs.

William F.

Yelp
College bar that has a decent selection of 20 or so craft beers and decent pricing. The pizza is pretty good as well, available by the slice in quite a few varieties and as a full pie. It's pretty typical for Burlington bar pizza, but that's a good thing since its something this town does pretty well. It gets crowded, but not annoyingly so.

Joelle M.

Yelp
Cool place, had a free open mic night type of thing. We ordered poutine and the fries weren't crispy and they were totally drenched in gravy (I love gravy, don't get me wrong, but this was a pool of gravy). The pizza had good flavor and tasty dough, but was undercooked. Nice to say we stopped and tried it though.

Hannah M.

Yelp
If I could rate this in negative stars I would. Worst treatment I've ever had at a bar or pub in my entire life. The woman working the bar was absolutely awful and incredibly rude to my 60+ year old mother and my sister when we were there for a pre-holiday drink. Will never go back and I implore you to look elsewhere if you are looking for a nice night because you will not have it here. Terrible and rude.

Nicole D.

Yelp
This is a divey bar with good pizza. We were a large group and the people here were really nice about letting us push a bunch of tables together. They didn't have table service, so you had to go up to the bar to order, even for the pizza. But the pizza was good!

Rachel A.

Yelp
Great layed back place to grab a local beer on draught and a bite too. Manhattans has really amped up the beer select in the past few years and now offers one of the better lists in town. I do often feel that it's super hop/bitter focused, but hey if that's what the kids are drinkin' why hell not eh? I'm more of a saison, sour, lager sort myself, but let's be honest I don't come here enough for them revolve their list around me. With that said I always find a brew I can enjoy and respect and I love that. The staff is super chill and always inviting. They put up with a good amount of drunken debauchery in the late hours of night and their ability to maintain a positive vibe is impressive. I have to say I have never eaten their pizza, as a long time American Flatbread employee going out for pizza just isn't something I do. I have however enjoyed their Mozzarella sticks, I know sounds simplistic and boring, but I'm telling you this isn't your run of the mill mozz stick. House-made, which I assume means they cut a big hunk of mozz and then bread it in the most delightful crispy coating ever. I'm not a fried good eater, but on Packer Sunday I put my conscience aside and let freedom ring. These mozz sticks fit the bill, as does the Philly sandwich, which is even more of a treat. Perfectly shaved local beef or a fresh bun, it's a win for sure. Order it with some Jalapenos and your golden. They usually have something on the agenda, be it live music, kareoke, open mic or football on the tv's. Its a fun vibe and again a great place for a good local beer minus any of the pretentiousness that sometimes comes with that. I'll say it again, mozzarella sticks and a philly cheesesteak. Peace.

Johanna H.

Yelp
The Pizza here was delicious. We got the Spicy Hawaiian and it had plentiful toppings while still being crispy on the bottom and the crust was also delicious. We were kinda bummed that there was no beer flight option because their on tap list was long. The staff was very friendly hand helpful. Overall great experience.

Andrew L.

Yelp
For what appears to be straight up college bar attitude, this place was surprisingly awesome. We only stopped in for a beer and a slice of pizza, but what a beer menu! $5 Heady Topper cans? Maine Brewing Lunch on tap?! And the pizza was pretty solid too! And any bar with a well kept pool table is alright in my book.

Erinn L.

Yelp
We love coming here when we're in Burlington! They always have heady topper and an awesome beer list, their cocktails are great too! They have awesome bar food - their homemade mozzarella sticks, Cajun Fries, cheesesteaks and chicken fingers are cooked perfectly, super flavorful and perfect bar food! We've actually never tried the pizza but it looks good and people always come in to get a slice. It's also a fun place, chill atmosphere and live music.

Nathan L.

Yelp
Very disappointed in the service. Bartender was rude and dismissive while we were asking questions. She literally walked away during our inquiry. Instead of asking for IDs we were kicked out of the establishment. Instead of asking for a license or politely asking us to leave we were rudely kicked out and told "good riddance". Our first time here and we wanted to spend our money there but unfortunately could not. Again disappointed we could not enjoy even 5 minutes in the place.

Catherine S.

Yelp
I. Love. This. Place. All the staff are friendly, fun and always nice. Pizza is delicious and I'm a pizza fanatic. Drinks are great, beer selection is kick a$$ too. Fun any time of day! I'm totally comfortable going in solo or with a group, there's always someone to talk to or leave you alone should you prefer. Typically have some special or karaoke or band each night. They'll even put a different channel on the TV for you if it doesn't disrupt others... Thanks guys for keepin it awesome, love you!

Leo T.

Yelp
I came here hungry. We ordered slices of cheese and some multi veggie thing. They were not delicious. Nothing wrong, really, just not good. Decent bowl of salad greens and friendly service. As the rest, well, it's a casual place for the college crowd. A long bar, a few tables, good music selection .

Doug M.

Yelp
My favorite place to eat downtown. The food and service are outstanding. Great draft selection and Jabu always takes care of us. Thanks

Erin L.

Yelp
:::Drool::: Manhattans :::Drool::: All-you-can-eat wings and pizza for only $8? COUNT ME IN! Unlimited soda for $1 more? YES PLEASE! Trough after trough after trough of unlimited wings pretty much defined my Tuesday nights in 2003-2004. (Shout out to Phil K., one of my partners in crime!) Mild, Hot, Superhot, Honey BBQ, Regular BBQ, Teriyaki, carrot and celery sticks, paper plates, napkins. TONS of napkins. Covered in wing juice and sauce. The glory of our victory was determined by the size of the boneyard we constructed by the end of the hour. And if per chance we ate the wings faster than the Manhattans staff could replenish the supply, the pizza stood as a formidable distraction. The pizza! Oh the pizza... I just got chills thinking about that scrumptious pizza. DISCLAIMER: No chickens were harmed in the making of this review. We just ate their wings. Thousands of them. For $8.

Yelp
I just completed a week long stay in Burlington and this was by far my favorite place in the city. We walked in during Philly Friday because the chalkboard outside caught our eye. You walk in, grab a menu, order at the bar and have a seat. They have basic bar food and I ordered the Philly. The man and woman working were extremely friendly and gave us as much time as we needed. The decor was mainly bar signs, no real flow. While I was waiting for my food I was able to watch a baseball game and listen to Johnny Cash playing int he BACKGROUND. The music was at the perfect level so I could still carry on conversation and hear myself think. The Philly was excellent. The bread was very good and the flavor was great. Like I said, I was in Burlington for a week and this is the only place where the food, drinks, prices, and service were beyond average.

Tom O.

Yelp
Amidst the noise of college coeds, hippies playing pool, and me playing the original Mortal Kombat on arcade, was a reallllllly good burger for $5 and the worst pizza I have ever eaten for $2. Seriously. This was the worst pizza I have ever eaten; in fact, I might chalk it up as the only pizza I have ever not eaten- it was just uneatable. The worst. However, we had a lot of fun here. Quick aside, I totally blew up this kids spot and probably made sure he didn't get laid that night. He was at the ATM and it wasn't giving him money- there was a girl with him and they needed it for the cab. He goes, "it's broken, it's not giving me money." It gave me money. It gave my girlfriend money. Clearly it's one of those ATMs that requires you to have money in your bank account for it to actually disperse cash for you. Perhaps if he had spent less money getting this girl wasted enough to go home with him, he could have had the money needed to get home. But probably, had he not had the girl wasted, there would have been no reason to leave. It's a real catch 22. I also may have prevented an unplanned pregnancy that night. So I guess that's another point for me.

Anders O.

Yelp
Awesome place to grab a beer or several. Chill vibe with great bartenders. Great place for a group to gather!

Ruby D.

Yelp
Manhattan Pizza & Pub has a great ambience. It is hip/grungy, with talkative bouncers and a fair selection of beers. There are some weird characters milling around there on the weekends, along with totally average students and older people. I think a 6:1 ratio of the normal to the odd is a perfect mix for a bar. This hilarious dude almost got into a fight next to our table and since a very polite/observant man warned us about the brewing trouble, we were able to turn around and enjoy it rather than get accidentally knocked over while he flailed. I will say that one particular night they had put up a lot of beers on their chalk board that weren't available on tap yet, so every time we would try to order beers (that were on the menu!) they would cut us off and say they weren't actually available until the next night. Why did you write them on the board then??

Stephen S.

Yelp
Horrible food. Terrible service. Undrinkable drinks. Three strikes and you're OUT, in my mind. I realized this far too late. I stubbled on this spot coming in late one Sunday night from the BEST (west) coast ... Looking for a bite to eat in this small town at 10:30 PM. Not good. A college dive bar, for sure. You'd have to be stoned, drunk AND starving to eat the stuff coming out of that kitchen. Pretty pitiful, really.

Amy G.

Yelp
In Vermont for a wedding and having missed the end of Pride, my travel buddy and I found ourselves roaming aimlessly through Burlington at night, tryin' to find some action. ...And then we heard metal. Pints of hard liquor, cheap beer, and Lord Silky. A totally strange crowd. Baseball on the TVs. This is where it's at, man.

Lauren B.

Yelp
Come here for the drinks and stay for the drinks! Just don't stay for the pizza as it is not good!! It's a great place to have some fun and drinks though!! if I lived in Vermont, I'd be going back again soon. Just, like I said, not for the pizza!

Lisa S.

Yelp
Wow! I was completely taken by surprise at Manhattan Pizza & Pub. Hubby and I were in Burlington, VT for the weekend and really wanted to grab a slice of pizza. Being short on time and hungry, we stopped into Manhattan Pizza. We ordered their house specialty, the Manhattan. It was absolutely fabulous! The crust was just right, the vegetables firm and tasty and the meat was fresh! It was truly scrumptious! Another wonderful surprise was the live band that began playing around 9. The sounds of The Bumping Jones were awesome and made our night truly awesome!

Aleczander S.

Yelp
Great place for live music, Philly cheese steaks for cheap on Fridays. Huge beer selection. Pretty cheap.

Mike W.

Yelp
Usually this place is great. Although just experienced the most slack ass employees ever. I ordered a slice and a bevy. After 20 minutes I asked about my slice. They forgot about it and put another one in. This is Sunday at 1 pm. Not busy at all. After another 15 minutes they brought me another slice. The first one burned. The most unfriendly, and cold experience I've ever seen in Burlington. A bunch of of young hipsters working. I guess they think it's cool to be short and rude.

Willy T.

Yelp
There is always something going on here weather it s a DJ, a band, karaoke or a big game on TV. The staff is really nice, the beer selection is VERY extensive and the pizza is always great. Last week I gave their Philly Cheesesteak a try and I really enjoyed it. This is an establishment I will continue to come back to for years to come. Only bummer is they are not open until 4:30 on most week days.
