"Manny Randazzo’s king cakes generate a cult following each year, with the Carnival season-only bakery (in operation since 1965) legend for its sweet, braided brioche topped with icing and colored sugar. There’s no preorder for pickup — they’re dolled out on a first-come, first-served basis, but you can have this definitive king cake shipped anywhere, with beads and doubloons as part of the package." - Beth D'Addono, Clair Lorell

I’ve been yearning to order one of Manny’s king cakes for years, but I always miss the deadline. We live in Connecticut, and they conveniently overnighted our cake to us, making it the most delectable cake I’ve ever had.

I’ve been to this location several times in the past I’ve been there twice this year 2025 in January when I need any king cakes this place will be where I get them from. I recommend everyone uses Company. The people that were there are really nice, and the cakes are so good.

Google
This is how my $85 King cake came delivered to me. I immediately called the bakery and was told to send an email with pictures. I have done so and no response at all. I guess I am out $85. Will never buy or recommend at all.

Stopped on our way to the airport - heading home to Kansas! So excited to get an original - and even better to share with our children when we got home. Absolutely delicious!!! Went on a Monday, around 9:30am… walked right in! Fantastic customer service!

My mother, Diana, passed away. We decided to serve king cake at the last minute after her funeral in Michigan. The staff was incredibly helpful in making sure we received the order on time and the cakes were incredible! Thank you so much for wonderful food and service!

Google
Hands down one of the best king cakes I’ve ever had in my life. It’s not dry, plenty of filling and icing absolutely delicious. The line to get a cake is very long but it moves fairly quickly. They open at 7am however I suggest you get there at 6am to get a good spot in line. Also once they have sold out they will be closed for the day. Within the first hour there were people leaving with several cakes just for that one person. So if you wait to go later in the day it’s possible they will already be closed.

Got the medium cake shipped. It’s good but would’ve liked more icing.

My husband and I live in Florida and have shipped from Mannys for YEARS. We are never disappointed with our king cakes. My husband gets a little taste of home every year. Thank you for all you do!

Becky K.

Yelp
We came here on a Friday afternoon after the historic snowstorm in New Orleans. We got one of the last medium king cakes. It was very reasonably priced. Randazzo's king cakes are a New Orleans tradition. No other bakery makes a better king cake. I am excited to fly home with my king cake tomorrow, and share with my friends.

William S.

Yelp
Each year, I make it a point to grab this king cake, it's an absolute must! While the city offers countless versions of king cake, let me tell you, nothing compares to Randazzo's. The flavor, texture, and balance of sweetness are phenomenal. Without a doubt, it's one of the best, if not the best, in the city.

Karyn S.

Yelp
DELICIOUS and beautiful! This was my first King Cake ever. A friend brought this with him on two flights to a gathering in Florida so we could celebrate. While it looks super sweet it was surprisingly mild. The cheesecake filling in the middle was perfection! One of our friends got the little baby baked in side in her slice and was crowned Queen of the day!

Jamie S.

Yelp
We order one of these fabulous kings cakes every year! Comes in perfect condition to us in California. Texture of pastry is excellent. Flavors are fantastic. Appearance is beautiful. Love the cute extra touch of the coins and beads in the cup! Order early! You'll be glad you did. Yuuuuum!

Karen R.

Yelp
Best King Cake in the New Orleans area. Always fresh. Always good. Lines are long and they sell out quickly but it's worth the wait.

Xzavier K.

Yelp
The King Cakes are truly in the Too 5 Best in the City. I flew from California to get them. The service was great. They were organized, kind and efficient. No attitudes, or rude service what so ever. The place is quaint yet clean and pleasant to be in. It smells so good inside well worth the wait and I highly endorse this company.

Victoria P.

Yelp
I mean this is obviously the best king cake ever but the line is just ludicrous! Once you get inside they get you in and out pretty quickly but I just feel like there has to be a better way lol. It's traumatizing being in line forever and seeing everyone come out with like 10 king cakes piled in their hands and when you finally make it in they are sold out of basically everything

Angie P.

Yelp
Best king cake in NOLA. We do our annual trek from Baton Rouge on Epiphany to get the goods!

Sarah J.

Yelp
Honestly, my new favorite king cake! Waited in line one morning to snag one. The staff was friendly, helpful and fast! In and out within a matter of minutes. The (plain) king cake was sooooo soft and delicious. Flavor was evenly distributed. Icing wasn't too sweet like some other company's. The bread stayed soft even a few days later!

Lindsey B.

Yelp
I mean...this is just hands down the best king cake! I don't care what anyone says! It's so fresh and creamy and delicious. It just melts in your mouth! And everyone that works there is very nice. The lines are long but they move fast.

Kandy T.

Yelp
I got my king cake for the season and it was a hit like always. I just wish the line was so long. I had to get there early just to get 2 king cakes. But it was worth it.

Gina H.

Yelp
KING CAKE REVIEW! This was definitely on our list this season! We have had the traditional and their cream cheese. It was good, but, I was expecting better. Absolutely better than MANY! The plastic wrap is a bit of annoying, sticking to the icing.

Michelle L.

Yelp
BEST place to get King Cake!!! Lines do get long but definitely worth the wait! The aroma of the place is soulful! The cake itself is the perfect combinations of ingredients! Soft and moist and always fresh!

Mary M.

Yelp
I filed on line with my credit card company and got my refund that way. Again no help from Manny R and no King Cake this year!

Erin M.

Yelp
Nom nom. I have seen this king cake all over social media labeled as the best of the best. So you know I had to take the drive. I've been warned that if you come later in the season you will wait in a line and I wasn't doing that so I came early and not long after they opened. I was in and out within 5 mins with one of the best king cakes I have ever tasted when I finally got to open it. The bread is soft and the icing is great. I'm not a fan of sprinkles but these didn't bother me as their not crunchy as normal. The baby is baked inside so be on the lookout for it. For sure will make more trips here and glad I saved this for my first slice of the season.

Yelp
This is my FAVVVVVVVOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTEEEEEEEEEE place in all of the NOLA to get a Mardi Gras King Cake. You can smell the scent of cinnamon in the parking lot, even on a cold, windy morning like today. This place is known for having long lines wrapped around the building as folks LONG to get ahold of this cinnamonny goodness during the Mardi Gras Season. If you get a King Cake from Manny Randazzo on Hullen... someone REALLY cares for you. Thats the truth; because battling those long lines is not the most sought after activity. Man oh man, the taste is oh so perfect. The right blend of cinnamon & icing. This place is a god-send. The bread is never hard it's always soft, doughy & mouth melting. The cake is good for eating alone or with a cup of coffee or did I say alone in closet away from the crown because you don't want to share? Lol. Watch out for the baby, it's normally placed on the underside of the cake, instead of being hidden deep inside, which can be shocking to the novice King Cake Consumer. Pricing is fair. You can get a large King Cake for a nominal fee. We normally enjoy this treat a couple times during the Mardi Gras Season. Got a couple more times to enjoy before the season ends... WoooooooHooooo!!!

John P.

Yelp
I called their phone number which said they're open for Christmas king cakes. I live in Florida and was visiting my mother for Christmas and wanted to bring a few back. My mother lives in Harahan so I drove all the way from Harahan to Mannys and there's a sign on the door saying they're closed. Yet their website and the recording on the phone since I could not get anybody live said they were open. I went way out of my way to buy a few Christmas king cakes and now nothing. Poor website poor phone and obviously has management problems. I'll pass on this place forever

J O.

Yelp
Pecan Praline it's one of the best king cakes, available, and theirs is of the finest quality, appearance, texture, and taste.

Janine M.

Yelp
Yesterday, 12/17/2018, which was Monday, I came to pick up a king cake for a Christmas party since I live a few blocks away. I got here at 7:30 am and was able to find a parking spot in the lot. There was a big sign on the door saying they opened at 8am. So I waited in my car for a while until people started lining up. I got out of the car around 7:45 and was the 9th person in line. Once they opened I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. A few people ahead of me bought several king cakes. They had a large sign inside that listed types of king cakes along with prices. That helps keep the line moving by eliminating some questions people might have. They have several sizes and flavors. I got plain and it was fresh and sweet. It had red/green instead of purple/gold/green icing. They even have a candy cane shaped king cake for Christmas. When I was leaving, the line had gotten a little longer. I've seen the line way down the block during Mardi Gras season. I suggest you come early since they close once they sell out for the day. Also, they are closed on Sundays.

Yelp
1St of all this is what I look forward to every year- for Mardi Gras my one king cake a year always has to come from Randazzo's and it has to be cream cheese filled So today I went in and bought 3 medium traditional and one cream cheese filled The cream cheese one was at the bottom and when I got home I noticed why I am extremely disappointed in the cake- I have paid more this year and the quality is crap! There was hardly NO WHITE ICENING ON THE KING CAKE! Dry overcooked bread- I paid $30.00 for dry over cooked bread Now the traditional had plenty of white icening on top and this is how the traditional usually looks but not this year So BUYER BE WARE MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR CAKES BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE STORE!! I am attaching the photos of the cream cheese filled one that was $30 and the plain traditional one (still in bag) that cost $20 Quality downhill and Extremely disappointed

Gwen B.

Yelp
The problem I had was with shipping. I went th UPS , when the king cake arrived the box was opened and someone took a slice of cake out the box. I called to pay for a replacement cake , I was told I couldn't do it. They can't hold king cakes even if it's paid for in advance. They were sorry for my lost.

Cynthia N.

Yelp
My boyfriend's favorite king cake! Even though we moved to Chicago, we still get a king cake from Manny Randazzo's every year. The king cake is moist and the frosting is perfectly sweet. I find there's a little zest or tangy flavor, but my boyfriend doesn't sense it. The icing doesn't melt off when you heat it up either! A few times we weren't able to order it to ship before they sold out, so a king friend went to the store to buy and ship to me. Definitely order early, if you're buying it to ship! Mardi Gras season isn't complete without a Manny Randazzo King cake!

Brittany B.

Yelp
I was in NOLA for the Mardi Gras weekend from out of state and wanted to take a king cake back home and was told by many locals and TikTok to visit M.R. Because they had the best. Woke up at 5:30, got to the bakery at 6:13 and there was already a line. Once I got inside, they only had cream cheese and traditional. I was a little discouraged because I was hoping to be able to pick from a variety but that's ok. I went with cream cheese (they only had traditional and cc). Finally got my cakes and left at 8:50ish. Once home, I realized what all the hype was about. One of, if not the best king cake I've had so far. Worth the wait! But, I did notice that once I got to the front, one of the employees smuggled in a Dong Phoung bag and hid it behind the counter. I can only assume that there was a king cake in that bag from the competition. Seemed a little suspicious but whatever. I definitely wanna try other ones to make compare.

Imran S.

Yelp
every Mardi Gras season, when king cakes are available, our favorite place to go is Manny Randazzos. their king cakes are consistently delicious, good balance between icing and dough, and always fresh. the only bad thing is that they sell out quickly so you have to get there early in the morning otherwise great and delicious king cakes

Terrance F.

Yelp
This it second time coming here. The first time I had to settle for the regular in which they had run out. This place is a first come first serve. They don't hold none or place no orders over the phone. I went today at 6:30 this morning hoping to make it and get my wife the cream cheese and praline, she enjoyed them. I hope after standing in line for 1 hour I'm the cold.

Brittany S.

Yelp
hands down, without a doubt, the best king cake around. i crave it all year long. every year they're flawless. keep it up!

Chris C.

Yelp
Placed an internet order and received my King Cake via FedX. It arrived in perfect condition, study box and wrapped securely. The King Cake was fresh, exceptionally baked with delicious icing - this cake will definitely not go stale in my house! Half gone and I found the baby! Whenever I'm in New Orleans, king cake is a must and Manny Randazzo is at the top of the list. Glad they ship - well worth the cost. Thanks Manny!

Brian H.

Yelp
I stood in line in the rain for an hour and a half to buy two king cakes a few days before Mardi Gras. I still don't really know why (I'm from out of town and don't understand the tradition) but I feel like I accomplished something. I actually only wanted one king cake but after waiting that long I felt I needed to buy two to justify the wait to myself. The sheer number of people doing the same thing suggests that these are some pretty amazing cakes. I had no idea what a king cake was supposed to taste like or why there's a baby inside (yes you might night a baby when you night into the cake, don't worry it's plastic and choking size) but Google and my massive confirmation bias told me these were the best. They actually were pretty good, my kids loved getting to eat them for a few days, and I think that little bit of my soul I left in that parking lot in the rain might have been worth it.

Peter N.

Yelp
Delicious king cake, nice and sweet, worth the wait!

Robert J.

Yelp
I visited the Chalmette location. This King Cake is just great. I have had Rouses, Gambinos and Zuppardos. Randazzos is by far the best yet. I know there are more out there but this is my opinion. The personal friendlyness with the people working the store is what sets them over the top. i would highly recommend the trip over and the freshness of the cake

Whitney A.

Yelp
Never had a better king cake! Come early because they close once sold out. There are lots of assortments and may have a line but the line usually is moving.

Trina K.

Yelp
I think it's fair to call it an addiction. Having a Manny Randazzo's King cake during carnival season is as much tradition for me as having red beans and rice on Monday and gumbo for Thanksgiving. I always find the time to independently stand in line for a piece of goodness. As everyone else, my order always includes at least one more for someone else. On my visit this month, I left with 8 cakes. The King cakes are unique in that it is soft and tastes more like a cinnamon roll. The icing is thicker than I prefer but soft enough for me to scrap off with a plastic knife or finger. Any native knows, the recipes at a few other Randazzo family locations are similar if not the same but after the father passed, each heir has rights to a specific geographic location. That said, head to Chalmette or the Northshore for the same treat just with a different name.

Derricka R.

Yelp
I've gotten king cakes from Manny Randazzo for years and years, consistently getting mediums. Since moving out of state, I've ordered the medium king cakes as well. I just received one of the Christmas king cakes. It was supposed to be a size medium (12x16 inches) as usual but what I received was barely even a size small (12x10 inches). It costs $60 to ship a medium king cake vs $20 in store. Therefore, with a $40 difference, I expect to get the appropriately sized cake. I called and was told it was human error and offered $5 and whoever I spoke to was extremely rude. Don't describe your medium king cakes as a 12x16 if you're going to send a significantly smaller cake. A 5 inch difference is a big difference. I know what a medium king cake looks like and this is not it. I will never give them my business again due to the rudeness I was shown.

Nikki F.

Yelp
The best king cake ever!! I had them 3 weeks in a row and probably gained 10 pounds lol. I've never been in person so I can't review on the experience, however, my husband has gone each time, he learned the earlier the better!!! He was out in the cold around 5or 6 am but it was sooo worth it. He was able to park in the parking lot which normally doesn't happen. I've had different flavors, plain, praline, strawberry, and cream cheese. My absolute favorite is the cream cheese! I can't wait until next Mardi Gras season.

Megan M.

Yelp
It's the most WONDERFUL time of the YEAR! I mean king cake season can't be beat nothing compares like at all I wait around like all year for January 1st so that time has finally come and I stood line ehhh about 30 mins oh so some people were anxious but I mean there isn't anything you really can do if you want it you're going to wait.Parking is a nightmare just get in where you fit in on the street and don't block any business you would hate to look for your car after scoring your cake! Now, this is the good stuff and I do mean good you're not going to find too many places where the bread is just as soft as the icing. And a small one would be enough for a family of 4 or so and anything else is great for can't wait to get another. I'll be back in a week or so I mean it is Mardi Gras season.

Kristi N.

Yelp
Absolutely the best king cake. I waited an hour in freezing temperatures but it was worth it! Their operation is a well oiled machine and they pushed a hundred customers through like clockwork.

Kaitlyn M.

Yelp
The best king cakes in New Orleans come from Randazzo's. The end. There's a reason there's always such a long line.

Nicole Caridad R.

Yelp
Hands down one of the tastiest king cakes! I always ship one to my family in Florida for carnival season and they always arrive fresh and tasty!!

Mike P.

Yelp
Still one of if not the best king cakes around, always moist and delicious and have been for many years now get there early because they sell out fast

Miriam W.

Yelp
What can I add to the accolades and admiration that are heaped upon this New Orleans area institution? Folks in the know are fiercely loyal to Randazzo's king cakes, and will stand in line in the cold rain (guilty) to secure one or ten. I'm not sure what their shipping policy is, but the website said they weren't shipping any more for this current Carnival season fairly early on, so people buy in bulk and ship them to friends and family members far and wide. I watched one guy make 2 trips to his car, arms laden. The cakes themselves are delicious; I tried the cream cheese and the apple stuffed, and, while both were very good, this cream cheese king cake was the best I've had. While I may try other bakeries' king cakes in the name of research, I think I've found my new go to for Twelfth Night forever.

Rachael K.

Yelp
Well worth the wait at Mardi Gras time! I am going to be making the drive from Baton Rouge as an annual tradition (who says this New Yorker can't learn Louisianan traditions)

John W.

Yelp
Dear Randazzo King Cakes, It would be nice if you updated your hours on Yelp and other platforms so when people from out of town are driving long distances to come visit your place and support you by buying your product we know if your not open as the case yesterday for my self and my family...

Stephen N.

Yelp
The best king cakes period. Seriously, people don't wait in line at Randazzos just to be cool, they do it because these are the best king cakes you can buy. Arrive early so you can pick what flavor you want because they run out quick and they don't make more until the next morning. Their delivery is also reasonably priced and comes packaged well. Much cheaper than buying a king cake on your own and having it shipped overnight at UPS. They lose freshness quickly so you want to eat it within just a few days, so keep that in mind if you are planning to ship one out.

Zoey M.

Yelp
Had shipped to me all the way in Oregon. So delicious and arrived in perfect condition and Very fresh! 10/10!! That first bite was so good it brought a tear to me eye!

Bruce A.

Yelp
The BEST King Cake in Louisiana by for. I've had several from different bakeries around New Orleans in my life but Manny's in the best. Not easy to get one but when you do, it's more than well worth it!

olivia a.

Yelp
King cake, great. Customer service, terribly rude. Your king cakes may not stink but your poop still d

Steve I.

Yelp
The best king cakes are at Manny Randazzo's!!! Pick one (or two) up for your Mardi Gras parading. Happy Mardi Gras!

Mark M.

Yelp
Went to get some King Cakes before leaving NOLA on Saturday 1/20/18. They had a line outside so I was not sure just how long it was going to take. Line moves quickly and it only took about 10 to 15 minutes to get the best cake in town. We got the cream cheese cakes and they we're delicious. Coming back to town in two weeks and this will be our first stop.

Tanya C.

Yelp
Manny Randazzo is my FAVORITE King Cake in town. Every year, I have one or two of these babies shipped to Atlanta during the Mardi Gras season. This year, I happened to be in town during King Cake season so I stopped in on a Saturday morning to pick up some deliciousness. I arrived at 7:45AM in anticipation of the 8AM opening. About 100 other folks had the same idea on an early Saturday morning. I had to park super far away down the street. Note - this is brutal after a late night out on Friday evening. While standing in line chatting with others, I quickly realized that many were there to purchase a bunch of cakes for church the next day. Manny Randazzo does not open on Sundays so they come early on Saturday mornings to make sure they can pick up their cakes before they start running out. The line slowly moved forward as I watched people exit with armloads full of cakes. I finally made it to the front after about 30 minutes. They had already started running out of items only 30 minutes in on this Saturday morning. I too filled up my arms with a bunch of king cakes. A few of these were traveling back with me to Atlanta so I made sure to get some boxes to go along with the cakes. They charge extra for this option. Make sure to stop in if you are in the area to grab your King Cakes! They start selling out early so get there way before they open if you are coming on a Saturday.
