The Best Cheesesteaks in Bucks County | Eater Philly

"Cheesesteaks may not be one of the top menu items you’d expect to find at Manny’s Restaurant and Deli, a popular Bucks County delicatessen known for its bagel and fish combos and expansive breakfast offerings. However, this Holland restaurant makes a cheesesteak that’s the talk of the town —- a steak and cheese combination served in a light and airy steak roll." - Kristen Kwiatkowski

We came here because of a friend's recommendation. Unfortunately we were a bit disappointed. On the positive side, the whitefish salad in the Larry David platter was very good. Also good was the matzah ball soup. However, the lox on the Larry David were a bit tough. My chopped liver sandwich was good but skimpy on the liver. I recently had a chopped liver sandwich that was overstuffed. My husband and his friend both had the corned beef special. They simultaneously said the corned beef was flat...bland...flavorless..too thickly sliced and too chewy. They were not crazy about the thousand island dressing either. It was too watery. They were so disappointed. They had corned beef specials last Wednesday at a different deli with corned beef that was more flavorful, more tender and the portion size was more generous. Finally, the service was not great. I usually never mention service but we really felt neglected. We really wanted to love Manny's but unfortunately it's a one and done for us.

Staff is very friendly and helpful. Food is always fresh and flavorful. Hot breakfast on skillet was good cooked and enough spices.Jewish bread hala French toast is to die for. I would definitely try that. Whitefish salad is very creamy and melts in your mouth. Enough salty and fishy flavor. Sandwich pastrami was good as well . All food came out quickly and freshly made. I would definitely come back for breakfast again.

Had a great meal for lunch. I highly recommend this deli for a decent meal.

I just want to say that there is nothing like Manny’s. We are moving away from the area soon and I want to come back as many times as possible. The matzo ball soup is the BEST in the area, and I’ve tried them all. It’s packed with flavor! I swear it can cure anything that ails you. The bagels are amazing and all of their food is delicious. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Our food came out right away, even though I was expecting a wait due to how busy it was. I brought my two daughters in today and they loved Chase’s chicken finger platter. If you haven’t tried Manny’s yet, you should!

Three days before hosting Passover Seder for 17 my beloved and trusted caterer informed me they had an emergency and couldn’t cater my Seder. “Don’t worry” my caterer said “Just call Chase at Manny’s. He’s expecting your call. You won’t be disappointed.” Chase and the team at Manny’s sure did not disappoint! Not only was the food so delicious, but everyone was so nice and helpful. And, the pick up process was so well organized and not stressful at all. I highly recommend Manny’s and am so very grateful that they made my family’s Seder a delicious success. We can’t wait to try the restaurant! (We devoured the food, so no pictures)

A bit pricey but great great food. No complaints and the staff was friendly and amazing. The onion bagels smelled the best ever. Good pickle

So great! We loved it. Came here for Father’s Day for the first time since moving to the area. What a great deli restaurant! They make a real homemade egg sandwich. Will definitely be back.

The matzah ball chicken noodle soup was delicious. Can’t wait to bite into the roast beef sandwich that came with it! This place is my new go 2!

Yelp
I haven't eaten inside yet, but I door dash from here and pick up all of the time. The food has been great EVERY time. The cheese fries are crispy and cheesy, cooked to perfection.

Yelp
My wife and I were very excited to get some authentic Jewish deli pastrami and corned beef when we stumbled upon Mannys in Yelp. Our not-so-great experience may have been a result of the choices we made, but I'm unsure. When you first enter you are in front of a nicely stocked meat counter, loaded with different deli meats. To the left is a dining area with a sign stating "seat yourself". The place is a bit dated with a nice casual vibe. We were greeted by a server who gave us menus and took our drink orders. Service was top notch. When it came time to order I asked how the pastrami was. Server replied "the best". Ok I'll take a pastrami sandwich, my wife a corned beef. The server also asked if we wanted pickles and tomatoes which I said yes. She quickly brought a little bowl, which I chopped up and we enjoyed. The sandwiches came out and these things could've come from a school cafeteria honestly. A minimal amount of cold, sliced meat along with a small bag of chips was unimpressive. What happened to the warm, thick cut, juicy meat sandwich you could barely get your mouth around that we expected? We looked at each other thinking WTF? No sooner did we notice a sign on the wall "NY style, thick cut pastrami and corned beef NOW AVAILABLE" Now maybe we just don't want to accept responsibility but shouldn't the server have asked if that's what we wanted? Anyway we left hungry and saddened by our $48 experience. Def not worth it.

Yelp
Time to upgrade my review of Manny's Deli after my first experience a few years ago left me wanting more. This time I came for a weekend breakfast on Super Bowl morning. The house had a large number of customers in Eagles green, and I fit right in. I went with something more ethnically appropriate for a Jewish style delicatessen - Fried Matzoh w extra sautéed onions and a side of Mini Potato Latkas. Both are traditional comfort foods in my family, and Sammy did a solid job on them. The matzoh brie filled a large square plate and only needed a few shakes of pepper to satisfy my tastebuds. It was more than I could finish. The potato pancakes had a nice crunch and the recognizable taste of onion and garlic liberally mixed into the grated spud slurry. Deep fried they were, which didn't bother me as it takes less time than pan frying. Service attended by pleasant smiles made for a friendly dining room, as did the overwhelmingly ethnic lilt of the many familiar accents around me. 4 Kosher-Style Stars

Yelp
Great breakfast and lunch menu. They do a good job catering as well. I was surprised to see they have a dining room instead of just take out like a smaller deli.

Yelp
First time having Manny's. Always on the lookout for a good deli style place to eat. Overall this didn't disappoint. Menu selection is great. I had a smaller of breakfast meats, omelet, Rueben for lunch and mozzarella sticks. Everything was cooked well. They have the nice and thin sausage patties. I was surprised at the size of the sausage links. Cooked well for the size. They have thick cut bacon, which is surprising. The potatoes were crisp and they do have the option for well done. The Rueben was stacked with corned beef. The coleslaw wasn't saturated with mayonnaise like a lot are. Overall recommend!

Yelp
I struggled with how to rate Manny's. It was ok.. just ok. My beef cabbage borscht was not ok. It was mush. The cabbage was cut so finely, and the soup had cooked so long that it was like porridge. Further, my idea of Jewish cabbage borscht is a slight sweet and sour flavor; this soup had nothing sweet at all. My half pastrami special had very good coleslaw, russian dressing and rye bread. The pastrami was just ok. I had never been to Manny's before. The service was fine, the place was lively but it's no Ben & Irvs or even Moishe & Itsys.

Yelp
My wife and I conducted a blind rye bread tasting. Five ryes competed for bragging rights. How does one conduct a "blind" tasting. My wife took a slice of bread from each deli and numbered them 1-5. Only my wife was aware of the mapping of the deli to the numbers. I then returned to the room and my wife stepped away. I made the sandwiches and then converted the numbers to letters. #1 becomes letter C, #2 becomes letter A, etc. The mapping of numbers to letters was only known by me. Below are the results in order of worst to best. #5 Original South Philly Jewish Rye (available at Giant Food Markets) cost $6 for a full loaf. This was our least favorite. No flavor and the texture was completely off. The bread was very dry, almost stale. If you are short on time (and money), this will work but my recommendation is head to a deli and get some real NY Jewish Rye. #4 Ben & Irv's Deli in Southamptom cost $5.50 for a half loaf. The texture gets us closer to a true deli rye bread but still dry and light on flavor. #3 Moish and Itzy's in Newtown cost $6.00 for a half loaf. The crust is chewy as it should be and tasted great. The inside is a bit on the dry side. This was just a hair behind the #2 spot. Candidly I would rank this higher but my wife found the dryness unacceptable and I never win an argument with her. #2 Borscht Belt in Newtown cost $10 for a half loaf. This is a softer texture if that is your thing. My wife liked the texture but I like a chewier crust and heartier bread. I don't know that this bread will hold up to a mound of meat or wet toppings. The flavor was terrific. If you don't mind spending $10 for a half loaf of bread, then give it a try. I'm saving for retirement so probably won't return anytime soon. #1 [Top Spot] Manny's Famous Deli in Holland cost $4.50 for a half loaf. Winner winner chicken dinner. This is the fan favorite and a must try for anyone that values a good bread. Manny's offers the gold standard of ryes and at a price that leaves enough money to also buy a deli pickle. Let us know if you would like us to assess another favorite food. Even better, are you convinced you have a favorite? Put your conviction to the test and conduct a blind tasting of your own.

Yelp
The time I came was great because we were able to be seated away from others. It was going to get scrambled eggs until the waitress brought French toast to a nearby table and it looked so beautiful and the coloring was so perfect. So I ordered the French toast! When it came, it was beautiful and delicious and hot. The only thing that could've made it better was real maple syrup. My friend got poached eggs and cute little potato latkes . And they came with a little cup of applesauce and sour cream. And I sampled it, and it was so delicious and I think there was a touch of onion in the latke. I was happy to see they had matzoh balls and matzoh ball soup. They had pictures of a matzoh ball, eating contests, and I kinda thought that was sweet. Our waitress really took care of us and we enjoyed our breakfast . I'd like to come back and try some of that matzoh ball soup and get a little package of rugelach. Looks like they have blk &whites cookies! Egg bagels too!!

Yelp
My sisters and I are from the area a long time ago. We were trying to find a place to eat. We found Manny's We were Not disappointed. It was GREAT. We had soup and 1/2 sandwich. The food was delicious. The service was excellent and enjoyed the small town feel of the restaurant. I would highly recommend Manny's.

Yelp
What can you say, but classic Jewish food served fresh, quick and with snappy service. I wish my hometown had a Manny's - or any town within 100 miles, I would make the drive!

Yelp
Still terrific - for lunch or brunch or breakfast. Matzoh ball soup is always great here. A classic Corned beef (or special with Russian Dression and cole slaw) on good rye bread. Simple Jewish-Deli food. Love it.

Yelp

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! The first deli style type food that was prepared deliciously and not SALTY!!. Amazing roast beef and corned beef sandwich. Chicken liver pate off the chart-- bagel with nova lox fresh and melt in your mouth. Rice pudding to die for!! So we want to live here!! Lol

Yelp
Excellent food. Exceptional tuna salad, smoked fish, turkey, cole slaw, macaroni, and potato salad. Has become my go to for take out. Great local deli.
google avatar

Eisha K.

Yelp
I don't have photos of my meal here but the cinnamon roll is amazing!! The deli meat was not the best though (could have just been a one off issue) and I found the lack of variety in coffee (no lattes etc) kind of disappointing.

Yelp
I recently visited Manny's Deli for the first time and was blown away. Not only was the food fresh and delicious , the staff was like no other. Immediately after walking in the deli we were greeted by the friendliest group of employees. Their customer service was top notch. They made you feel so welcome. This was one of the best visits to a restaurant that I have ever experienced. So, a special thanks to Rob, Jeremy, Jake and Joel of the Willow Grove location, I will definitely be back!

Yelp

Yelp
A real Jewish deli in Bucks County. Large menu with all the expected deli offerings. Extremely clean. Great matzo ball soup. Owner are young, friendly and energetic. The deli counter is just what you expect from a great deli. My favorite area deli.

Robin Z.

Yelp
We ordered a fish tray for 30 people on short notice. The folks @ Manny's paid attention to our special requests: 18" max tray size, 2 types of herring, nova & regular lox, 3 types of cheese, no peppers & 10 AM delivery time. We also had a yummy cookie & pastry tray for 15 delivered. The food was fresh & beautifully arranged & enough for almost 5 days! Thanks guys!

Yelp
Great food and service so we frequent often and get catering from here. We enjoy the fish platters and the corn beef special

Yelp
So let me say that I was visiting a friend in Lower Southampton area and order Manny's on Door Dash. Food was amazing. So, the next day I decided to stop at Manny's for lunch on my way to my friends shop. Again, amazing. The server amazing as she handled all the tables with assistance from a couple of other people made it a point to come by and ask every few minutes if everything was OK or if I needed anything else. In this day and age servers are not making a ton of money and I felt an obligation to give her a very good tip. Now onto the food. Amazing. A grilled Pastrami Reuben, served open faced with an order of mini potato latkes and chicken noodle soup. Worth the trip! L'Chaim!!

Yelp
I love Manny's! Their food is so good! It's been a long time since I have found a great place that has the food I remembered having in Philly as a child!

Helene R.

Yelp
Absolutely the best deli food in town!! Great people and delicious, high quality food.

Yelp
Been craving the Matzah ball soup all weekend! This place is my go to and has a wide variety of goodies on their menu. Never disappoints!

Yelp
Breakfast was delicious as usual fast service and reasonable prices. I order once a week and get it delivered to my office.

Yelp
I am writing this review on the ambiance, look of the small type diner. First impressions are a factor to me! If it appears to be dirty, in several ways of the word, disorganized or boxes, etc, laying around, tables not cleaned, utensils and so on, tells me a lot about the cleanliness of the place. So, I ask myself, how do they handle the kitchen, prep, cases, and food!? Even bathroom.? Coming into this place, the back part of the room near the entrance of the kitchen. Boxes laying around with condiments, etc, in them. Items should be placed properly, and put where it belongs and not put on the floor, without having something to put it on, off the floor. Health issue to me. Plus, there was a mold like smell in the back part of the place. Brought a first-time customer. We started with split pea soup w croutons. The croutons tasted moldy. The person with me stated the same thing. Yes, the waitress took it away and apologized, but that said enough to me. Paid for our drinks and tip. We left and never went back! Look, if you are willing to pay for what the mgmnt; owners are asking, then I want what I want in the food and ambiance.

Beth N.

Yelp
My granddaughter's baby naming was yesterday and we had the party catered by Manny's. The delivery came on time. We ordered a variety of sandwiches on challah rolls, a fruit tray, a veggie tray, and a dessert tray. EVERYTHING was delicious! I would highly recommend!

Jerrry R.

Yelp
Always great deli foods for takeout. Or, sit down for a good meal with excellent service. My favorites are a corned beef special and Matzaball soup. Good place to get fresh breads and bagels.

Yelp
Always fresh, always friendly and most definitely always DELICIOUS Manny's is our go to Deli!

Yelp
The bucks county area is definitely lacking in Jewish delis, so I was excited when I heard about Mannys deli and it was closeby to where I live in Bensalem. They have all of my favorites: great soups, latkes, sandwiches, and bagels (with cream cheese and lox of course!) I love their matzah ball soup, and they have to go options which include 3 large matzah balls and chicken soup. I do wish there was a bit more chicken and veggies in the soup, but that's probably my only complaint about it. I recently ordered a corned beef special and they do this "Chelsea style" on latkes that I decided to give a try. It was absolutely delicious, I guess I never noticed the option before, because it's probably my new favorite and will definitely be ordering this again. If you are in the area and looking for a great deli, look no further, and check out Mannys for a great breakfast or lunch!

Lisa G.

Yelp
I walked in Manny's for a shiva tray for my moms funeral. I saw Robs friendly face behind the deli counter , who then had the owner help me . He sat me down , offered me a coffee and went over my order . He gave suggestions and said if there's anything else just call . The tray was delivered timely and looked beautiful. Everything was fresh and delicious. THANK YOU Mannys !!!
google avatar

Sandi B.

Yelp
1. The food is great. I ordered a few trays for different occasions. Fish tray was wonderful. Sandwich tray excellent! Blintzes are out of this world. The restaurant is clean!!!!!!! The wait staff friendly. The owners go above and beyond to help you order whatever it is for your special needs. I can't say enough about how we adore Manny's and we don't live around the corner. It is well worth your time to try it! Soups are great, also. Ambience, just perfect.

Missi J.

Yelp
Whenever I visit my Boyfriend in PA we come to Manny. their Roast beef or chicken salad sandwiches are fantastic. And their Lox graces my boyfriend's breakfast table at least once every single week!

Yelp
I recently moved to holland and thought I would support a small business. When I pulled into the parking lot I saw they were not letting people in to order/pick up they were working through a window which was new and weird. Then while in line they told the gentleman behind me that they closed the inside today to protect their employees, the last day of the dine in restriction? I made a loud comment about knowing they will surely open this week. I got home only to have my family who has been eating Jewish deli food for longer than these newer owners have been alive to look at me and say which one is white fish and which one is a almond salad. I will attach pictures, along with the email I sent to them and the email I got back, as well as my reply which led to Chase (one of the owners) telling me that he doesn't need deal with me or my call and his stress is more than mine. Not only are these kids an embarrassment to the community, I didn't even make it through half a bagel with their so called salmon salad before I was sick.

Sandy P.

Yelp
Manny's has great tasting food at good prices and the owners and staff are really nice & always helpful

Nancy S.

Yelp
The restaurant, and its staff was absolutely amazing! I was trying to send a variety of Deli, breakfast and dinners to a deserving family. They went above and beyond to help me get an incredible package together and delivered in a timely manner. I can't say enough about how smoothly this order and transaction went. I look forward to using them again.
google avatar

Pamela A.

Yelp
This place is great! I always have a soup and my favorite is the chicken noodle. The mushroom barley is good and I have never had a soup there that I didn't love. I have eaten what they call the Mighty Manny, eggs, pancake, choice of meat and potatoes, bagel or toast and is a great breakfast. When I order a sandwich I eat only a half. They have whole or half sandwiches your choice. The menus has something for everyone. I have to say the wait staff is the best. Some times it gets very busy but service is always good. You can usually find one of the three owners on site even helping when it gets busy. If you don't want to eat in, you can order takeout. They have a large deli counter and you could make your own meal too. I highly recommend eating here.

Vicki W.

Yelp
My go to deli. Always enjoy the food and deli items. The pea soup and matzo ball soup are excellent. The deli turkey is great. I'm

Yelp
Been here a couple times now but really enjoyed it our past visit. Had a chicken sandwich, a corned beef special, and a soup. Everything was delicious and tasted fresh after bringing takeout home. Will definitely be back again soon! Many great options on the menu to try.
google avatar

Scott S.

Yelp
OMG...this is, without a doubt, the BEST deli in the area. Super clean. No fishy smells or slimy floors. The menu will accommodate any tastes. Freshest fish around and their house-made chunky whitefish salad is worth every penny. The "Boyz" run a top-notch operation and the deli counter guys slice and dice with the best of them!

Elaine B.

Yelp
Food is always fresh and good, staff is friendly and owners come around to speak to customers. I would highly recommend.
