Just had a beautiful meal here, with the pork being cooked in front of me on the fire. The (family run, I believe) team of staff are very friendly and welcoming. They communicate very well and efficiently via email for booking in, since my French is not great on the telephone. They totally understand gluten free meals and adapt their menu accordingly, which I often struggle with in other restaurants in France. We will definitely return again and would highly recommend to others. Tranquil setting with a lovely shop selling local produce too. 5 star!

Our stay was 21 July to 27 July.|Our first stay at this hotel. A lovely hotel in an old manor house. Our room was spacious, comfortable, well decorated and the bathroom modern and spotless. The meals were superb, cooked to order using fresh local produce. Meat dishes cooked on a wood burning fire in the dining room. Exceptional standards at this hotel run by people who care.

Small quiet country hotel in rural surroundings, in Normandy, easy access from main road.|Courtyard and front gardens most pleasant .|Bedroom was small but adequate, bathroom modern.|Dinner served in dining room with opened fire, used by chef to cook Normandy specialties.|Menu reflects Normandy local produce.|Would have enjoyed it more if the staff had been a little more jovial and friendly : lacked empathy.

Utterly delightful. Set in beautiful countryside, this is a perfect place to stay. This is a family-run hotel which clearly prides itself on detail and small touches that make one's stay more enjoyable. The room was comfortable and well appointed. The restaurant ran two "sittings" on Saturday night - at 7 pm and 8.30 pm, which was sensible because it means that the excellent chef was able to focus on his beautiful dishes. The staff were charming and it was a smashing place to spend a couple of days.

We decided to eat out on the last evening of our stay near Villedieu and did not regret our choice. The chef's salad was delicious and the smoked pork quite exceptional. It would have had five stars if it could have matched my wife's French apple tart! Service, wine and ambience were top-notch. It was really hard to fault, and we can thoroughly recommend it. Best to book, though.

Having enjoyed our last visit a couple of years ago we returned with friends.||||We had a couple of rooms together in the eaves on the second floor with large beds and separate bath/shower and toilet en suites. It was a little warm as it has been such a hot summer but even with the window wide open it was beautifully peaceful.||||Our meal was delicious although, as it was summer, the big wood fire in the dining room wasn't being used and our food was cooked in the kitchen. The restaurant was busy, even on a Tuesday evening, so we were glad we had booked. Service was quite slow as there were only two hard-working waitresses but that allowed us to enjoy our meal at a relaxed pace.||||Breakfast wasn't included in the rate we paid but we had the 10 euro choice which included cereal (if wanted), bread, pastries, cheese or stewed apple and plenty of tea/coffee. For an extra 5 euros you could have an egg/ham etc.||||There is a small shop in the grounds selling regional produce but it doesn't look very busy and was unmanned - you pay at reception if you want anything.||||Another very pleasant stay and I am sure we will return.

Amazing place. Friendly staff. Great food. The manager speaks English which was really helpful for me as my french is bad. Great if you want to escape from the city and love the country side.

In the heat of a Normandy summer our cool room was a godsend. A lovely place to stay in the countryside but close to many small towns and of course St Malo and Caen ferry ports.||Evening meals were generally very good, the only problem is the menu does not change and was the same for Sunday lunch. The chef could not make a sauce for my wife, who is lactose intolerant, without milk or cream, very strange, hence one meal was very dry.||Cannot understand why this hotel is only a 2 star according to French classification.
