"Manolo’s Latin Bakery is a 26-year-old shopping plaza gem down Central Ave, led by baker, activist, entrepreneur, and immigrant Manolo Betancur. A pride for community and cultural identity is readily felt upon entering the bakery, which hosts Colombian and Mexican breads, chicken and beef empanadas, and importantly, eleven variations of tres leches. Betancur’s pastries and breads aren’t so much about showcasing something new or flashy, but instead letting the simple and familiar speak for themselves. The soft pan de muerto, the custard-filled fried bolas, and the sugar-dusted churros baked fresh throughout the day are displayed in the bakery’s center case in a tempting heap." - Kayleigh Ruller

This was my first visit here after my co-worker told me about them. I just had to go. All the items I had were amazing! I like that they don't make their food overly sweet. They are balanced in that especially the coco flan and tiramisu. You can feel the family vibes and mood of caring for their business in the air. The staff is sweet as well as the owner. This place is definitely on my list to return to for baked goods and whoever is reading this should too.

Google
Manolo’s is the perfect place to enjoy authentic Latin flavors. 🥐☕ From their bakery with fresh, artisan bread to their pastry shop with the best tres leches cake I’ve ever had. 🎂✨ The café serves delicious coffee, perfect to pair with any of their desserts, and the ice cream shop offers irresistible options, including amazing vegan ice creams. 🍦🌱😍 The atmosphere is warm, and the service is always friendly. Definitely a place I’ll keep coming back to! 🙌💛

Google
One of the best bakeries with the best tres leches! So many flavors! The staff and owner are so kind. The area was clean and beautiful!

Google
We’ve ordered cakes from here for many years and stop in often for pan dulce and yummy empanadas. We’ve also preordered tamales for the holidays. Most recently I placed an order to create a dessert table for my daughter’s High School Grad Party. The gentleman I spoke to gave great recommendations, pick up was smooth and pricing was great. I highly recommend Manolo’s! Updated: added just some of the cakes we’ve ordered throughout the years. We’ve always been so happy with the service and product. 11 years of birthday and celebrations and counting

Not a first time customer but a returning one, love this place plenty. The delicious variety of pastries always excites me to come here. They also have merch worth checking out!

Google
Lovely establishment. It truly is a hidden gem , the outside does not credit the inside as beautifully as it should. I have returned many times, the pan dulce is very fresh and very well made. The cakes on display are very eye-catching and even my bf who dislikes sweet things got a tres-leches cake and finished the entire thing. Definitely recommended!

Google
Delicious cake. I had a treat leches made. I have an allergy and had no issues. Staff is very very friendly- both in person and on the phone. Ordering is easy and prices are great. Will definitely return.

I saw photos of the pastries here on an instagram post and knew I had to come the next time I was in Charlotte and oh boy I’m glad. The staff was wicked helpful, we probably looked confused by the assortment and how many things were on offer and a staff member immediately offered help and explained how everything worked (which I have massive anxiety in new places, she was so sweet and I immediately felt more comfortable). I got the torta de amor and it was fabulously delicious and I wish I’d gotten more. The prices were amazing for what you get and everything looks clean and well maintained. Overall it was an amazing experience and I can’t wait to go back.

Yelp
We ordered and prepaid a flan for pickup. The bakery was full so I had to wait a bit for the flan. Definitely worth it. Staff was extra nice. The flan was delicious. The website said the flan feeds 10 people, but everyone ate and we had a good portion leftover for the next day. We will definitely be back to try their foods.

Yelp
Heard lots of good things about this bakery, and once I saw they had empanadas I really prioritized getting over there. Thankfully I was in the area for an appointment and swung by afterwards. I tried the empanadas, cookies, donut, churros, and a croissant. Everything was really good but I probably wouldn't get the spinach and cheese empanada as the cheese was a tad much for me and different from the cheese in the guava empanada. The guava and cheese empanada really stands out but everything was pretty top notch.

Yelp
Love this bakery! You must try this place!!!! From the Gelato to the pastries! Everything is good!

Yelp
Had quite possibly the best Tres Leches (chocolate chip) cake I've ever tasted. My family and entire household of Easter guests thank you!

A L.

Yelp
Love this place. My only complaint is that I wish they made churros the whole day. Highly recommend stopping by and grabbing some of their cake (especially the Oreo one) or empanadas.

Khadija D.

Yelp
Hands down the best bakery in the East Charlotte area! This place is my go to for last minute birthday cakes, as there is a great grab and go selection. Don't like cake? They've got so many options including churros, donuts, ice cream, macaroons, and even empanadas! It's a great atmosphere, with seating available to dine in. What keeps me coming back is their customer service. They have the absolute sweetest, most accommodating staff. And they're located in the heart of East Charlotte!

stacy p.

Yelp
my parents suggested this bakery because they had their king cake. I went with high hopes and got moldy pie.

José A.

Yelp
I absolutely love this bakery! LOCATION It's centrally located in a shopping plaza in one of the the most diverse areas in Charlotte. It has its own free parking lot. MENU It has a diverse offering of pastries, cakes and empanadas. I always try new items every time I go, and it never disappoints. 100% recommended!

Yelp
There's no reason why I should have Metal shards in my food. I've been coming to Manolo's Bakery since before it was even Manolo's Bakery, since it was established under the name of Las Delicias. As a long time customer I do not appreciate the lack of safety that is applied at this establishment when making food. This morning I found METAL inside of my beef empanada. Not only is this a safety hazard but the curly haired young female that normally works up front as a cashier was extremely rude and had no empathy regarding the metal filled empanada. Poor customer service from the young curly haired female, I wish they would consider hiring an individual that can perform genuine customer service as a cashier.

Yelp
This was the 3rd bakery I had stopped at today. Was expecting it to be way better. Bread is not fresh. I grabbed 4 conchas 2 tiny doughnuts, 2 churros, a bread w butter and 2 tarts and total was $42.. not worth it. Churros were very hard. I think circle ks concha's in a bag tasted better. I'm from Arizona so we have a lot of good food and this was not good at all...

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick sweet fix, and only because I saw it in some review as not to be missed. Nope. I won't miss it.

Tomas A.

Yelp
Stoped at this Hispanic Bakery, curious to try their pastries. Did not disappoint. Coming on top was the tres leches peach cake. Usually a tres leches cake is a moist cake, it can be a disappointment but here they didn't it right. I tried the chocolate tres leche cake it did not compete with the peach flavor fyi. Also tried their Tarta chilena "tart from Chille" it's a wafer stacked cake layered with caramel. This I had to pair it with some of their ice cream which made for the perfect combo. They have a few flavors to choose from I went with the coconut. The service was great the gentleman at the front register allowed me to try their chorizo Morcilla colombiano. This is a famous sausage made in Colombia. The flavor profile was 10/10 hit everything. Will be coming back for that again. This is a small bakery with seating inside and a central display for their baked goods. Strongly recommend checking this place out.

Yelp
This place has been on my radar for a while so I'm glad we finally stopped by. I didn't know what a lot of things in the pastry case were, but one of the employees was helpful in explaining them. My husband and I ended up getting: - Strawberry Concha - Some kind of passion fruit pastry - Peach Tres Leches - Passion Fruit Tres Leches The Concha was more of a sweet bread than a pastry to me, but I enjoyed it. I wasn't a big fan of the passion fruit pastry because it was very dry and bready. It wasn't sweet and didn't have a passion fruit flavor. I think the cakes are where they shine. I loved both tres leches that we got, but the passion fruit one really stood out. It had that punch of passion fruit I was looking for. I'd gladly come back to try more!

Nishi S.

Yelp
No vegan cakes here, so if you are vegan this is not your place. I'm writing this review Cz I read some old reviews saying they gave vegan options.

Ana M.

Yelp
One of my favorite bakeries in Charlotte. No fuss just great pastries at affordable prices! We tried pretty much one of everything and my favorite was the fried croissant but you honestly can't go wrong. Their cakes are also oh so good AND their ice cream is great too. I love coming here and if you haven't tried it yet, you are missing out!

Francisca I.

Yelp
We were so excited to try this bakery after our friend told us about it. Especially being Chilean and not having many options for Chilean Food in the Charlotte area. I saw that they had a torta de milojas chilena that was really excited about. We decided to get it for my dad's 70th birthday and surprise him. The ordering process wasn't very good, they did not have the cake available online so we called the store and they told us that we could call it in 2 to 3 days in advance. When we called to order it, then they told us that we couldn't order through the phone we had to go in the store. I had to ask my boyfriend to go order it because I couldn't go, well he didn't speak Spanish, so he wasn't able to order it, so he ended up calling me and I still ended up ordering it through the phone even though they told me I couldn't . When I went to pick it up, I had a small panic attack as they told me that they didn't have a cake for me, then, after waiting for a while, they realize that they had put a different name instead of Torta De milojas they had written torta chilena (which they call it both in the store - so it was their confusion) I am writing this review because I am disappointed on the customer service and I want to support a small business but I feel like they need to step up their ordering and customer service Also, not to mention this was a $70 cake The cake was OK, definitely a little dry, not worth the price.

Vu T.

Yelp
One of my favorite if not favorite for non traditional bakery. Their guava/cheese is to die for. I love everything about them.

Britanny T.

Yelp
I have to admit before I went inside I wasn't so sure but once I walked into those doors I was in heaven all the pastries looked amazing the cakes looked even better and there's ice cream!!! I've been looking for a great place to have real authentic traditional tres leches cake and after trying theirs I think I found it! I paid a reasonable price for everything and I bought a few different little items including a awesome hoodie that I'm gonna rock around town as often as possible! Everyone should definitely give this place a try!.. I guess I know what they mean by "don't judge a book by its cover" now lol

Jordan H.

Yelp
I ordered a Tres Leches cake for my sisters birthday. It was so dry and flavorless. The middle had fruit when I had specified I only wanted vanilla cream in the middle. Very disappointed.

Luis H.

Yelp
I had a bad experience starting from customer service and ending with a bad product. I ordered a large Rosca de Reyes for over $60 after being misguided on the number of the people that will feed. I mentioned over the phone we were 8 people and they recommended me to buy the largest rosca which looks like it can feed 20+ people. I tried to cancel the order the day after I placed it (5 days before pick up date) and they told me they don't offer refunds. They even did not let me change the size of the rosca. Additionally, my guests reviewed the rosca as dry and lacking strawberry filling. Not sure if I will ever return to the bakery.

Nataly D.

Yelp
Finally found a hispanic bakery here in CLT! This bakery is nice and has a clean set up! They have a lot of pastries and cake options as well as drinks. I got the mexican bread called "concha" it has flavored sugar on top and its fluffy ! Its soooo good with some cafe con leche (coffee with milk) my favorite! I also got an oreo cake slice and it was really moist and yummy. Will be coming back!! If anyone knows of any other yummy hispanic bakeries please let me know so I can support!

Julie P.

Yelp
Huge fan of Manolo's churros - especially the caramel filled ones! They are always crispy on the ouside and light and fluffy on the inside. It's a traditional Latin bakery in a small strip mall in East Charlotte. The staff in there are kind and friendly and happy to explain any pastries to you that you might not know. They have some self-service items as well as a cold case with items like tiramisu and tres leches cake (both are delicious by the way). You honestly can't go wrong with anything from here. I do wish they had all their pastry items labeled, some looked delicious, but I didn't know what exactly I was looking at (this could have also been because of COVID - not sure). But if you're looking for delicious treats, especially churros, be sure to check this place out!

John T.

Yelp
March 2021 What's good instafam. Manolo's Bakery, Charlotte's first Hispanic bakery, serves a variety pastries, cakes, candies, cookies - basically any sweet you can think of. The store was clean and the staff were kind and attentive. I tried the Tres Leches with Peach at the recommendation of a friend and it was fire. Seriously tho, y'all be missing out if you haven't checked this place. Go support their business. Until next time babes.

Cristal C.

Yelp
Tasty bread & pastries. Worth coming every time. Different types of bread , cakes / desserts etc

Darian D.

Yelp
Best churro anything I've ever tasted. Ever. And I've sampled churros all over. Huge selection of fresh, tasty baked items. Bring your sweet tooth and some reckless abandon because everything you taste will be amazing. Bonus points for the wild value for the price.

Stefanny W.

Yelp
The pastries were reasonably price, but the couple of things I ordered were over baked and dry. The chocolate donut was hard and dry, the croissant in heart shaped was a little too brown. My order of peach and caramel single slice of tres leches was good, moist and the peach was fresh. Customer service was great, the young lady who helped me was sweet. I will go back for their tres leches.

Jeff W.

Yelp
My wife stopped in yesterday on a friend's recommendation. She picked up several nut and chocolate-glazed doughnuts. Unfortunately they were absolutely awful. Absolutely stale and flavorless. First--and last--impression is pretty bad.

Myka L.

Yelp
Reserved my cake 5 days in advance! Tres leches was awesome definitely recommend this bakery! I'm coming here for everything

Kelli M.

Yelp
Went here recently for the first time. Got some cupcakes and macarons for a repass. Staff was very helpful. Will go again!

M. R.

Yelp
Customer service is awful, I just called and they hung up on me. I needed catering info and the girl said she didn't know anything about it then said "hold on...." Then click she hung up.

Fox E.

Yelp
I like playing with couples, but I prefer a Mansolo. This is not that. Really great little Colombian and Mexican bakery with good Tres Leches, and pretty decent chorizo sausages - Colombian style - as well as a bunch of other goodness. Nothing blew me away, but they're really lovely, great service and good prices and yum taste. Everything easily warrants 5 stars for this place that used to be called something different. And this is not where you go to get expensive shoes. If you want those, go to Manolo Blahnik's Bakery. Or better yet just talk to my porn girl.

Clara R.

Yelp
Y'all... I've been looking up and down for a panadería that reminded me of Mexico and I think I found it! It's a small space but the smell of bread overwhelms you when you walk in. What else could one ask for? The bread is fresh and they have a nice variety! They also have Jarritos, and macaroons/tiramisu/tres leches and a whole bunch of other things! I can't imagine you visit this place and don't walk out with some pan de dulce. Support a local business and enjoy some delicious bread! "Made in America by Immigrant Hands" :-)

Rox S.

Yelp
Manolo's is in my neighborhood and we've been meaning to try it out for some time now. So we decided to today for Mother's Day treats. Yes they are open! During Covid. So this review is not under normal circumstances. But I will say they have signs on the front door for safety like: only one member per family inside, only 5 people in the store at once, employees are wearing masks etc. All this just in case you were wondering. We came at 3pm on a busy day so they were out of a lot of items which is to be expected. So we left with macaroons, a cookie the size of your hand, and some kind of danish. Sorry I don't know specific names, I wasn't the chosen family member inside lol. So I can't speak for price, atmosphere or friendly-ness of the employees. What I can say is lots of people were ordering/picking up cakes here! The macaroons were good, cute and small (which is fine just being specific). We will def come again once covid is over so we can get the full experience! And to try other things.

Elizabeth D.

Yelp
Where to even begin - I could sing praises of Manolo's all day long! The staff is consistently friendly and helpful, the pastries, breads and desserts are all top-notch (particularly the churros, cheesecakes, and literally anything out of the case in the middle!). Don't sleep on their cakes either - they made me a custom cake for my husband's birthday last year, and the quality and design absolutely blew us away (especially for the reasonable price). We love you, Manolo's - never change and never leave the East Side!!!

Fred A.

Yelp
This place is amazing. The desserts are out of this world and the staff is so friendly. Try the passion fruit tres leches. It's a house special.

Davena M.

Yelp
Attending during the day on a Sunday was a nice experience. The parking in the shopping complex is a bit weird and seemed crowded but found a spot not too far from the bakery. It's a small location but there were no more than five customers inside at a time. Staff were super friendly and helpful. There were so many options including desserts like cheesecake, tiramisu and gelato. They had single serve items and full-sized cakes that looked delicious. I had no clue what I was getting but grabbed things that looked good. The ojos and oreja were my favorite. I'd definitely go again to try some other options.

Megan L.

Yelp
This was my first time visiting and I was quite pleased with my experience. There were so many options!! It was very authentic to its Hispanic roots, so I was unfamiliar with many of the pastries or bakes. They were kind enough to have someone explain every bake to me, as well as their personal recommendations. They also explained the process of selecting your pastries, for it was different from any other bakery I had been to, but it was very cool! The prices were extremely affordable as well. My personal favorite was the big sugar donuts! I would highly recommend broadening your knowledge of pastries and check this place out!

Briana E.

Yelp
Amazing walnut tres leches cake!!! A last min gift for a friends birthday and it was truly so delicious- go support small business

Jenita M.

Yelp
Best Flan ever! My initial reason for visiting: I sought out the chocolate cake with strawberries in the layers (previous patron's photo) but an employee they didn't have that one anymore. So I chose some other things to try. I got the flan and the tiramisu. The flan taste great and didn't smell or taste of egg. The right amount of sweet. The tiramisu was dry and not fluffy like I'm use to. I would try a different cake next time like the passion fruit cake and/or cake with Hershey piece on top. I hope they're freshly made on that visit. Lots of desserts and breads inside. Friendly staff and bilingual.

Asian R.

Yelp
Manolo's started good as all the businesses when they start. But mismanagement and quality went down and now is a MEDIOCRE copy of a "Mexican pan dulce panadería." I believe they changed management and instead of continuing with the same quality, they bake a mediocrely version of every piece of Mexican popular bread like the "conchas" "panque" and the "mantecada" that, for saving money on butter, they are dry and hard to eat. Even the TRES LECHES which is a popular cake in most Latinoamérica, is lack of spongy cake and instead is dry in the middle and the milk stays on the bottom making it dry at the top. They covered it with lots of merengue to try to hide the dryness. Cheap ingredients and not work ethics They say they open from 6 am to 9 pm but if you go there before 9 pm. They're closed already. I ask the guy who says he was the owners son or the manager and told me they close at 8;50pm which was a lie because I was there before 8:50 pm and they were closed. All in all, bad management, bad quality, and no customer service.

Edna M.

Yelp
Good pastries. My daughter is still raving about it. Too bad they're across town or we'd visit more.

Mike J.

Yelp
They have some great empanadas other unique pastries. Friendly staff too. Worth a try.

Tim S.

Yelp
Manolos is a Latin bakery that also sells some American favorites such as cakes, pastries, macaroons, and tiramisu. He also has savory items such as empanadas. The team there does amazing work, friendly, customer focused. They also do custom cakes!

Stephanie G.

Yelp
TRES LECHES! So happy I found this gem. It's a bakery with soo many fresh goods. You just pick it yourself and bag it up and they also have individually wrapped cakes. They also sell whole cakes! You can call ahead and tell them what you would like or you can just pick what is already made in the fridge. They have different sizes to choose from I only got the tres leches cake today and mane did it hit the spot. Authentic for sure. The fruit in the middle threw me off, I'm use to just having fruit as a topping for the cake. But I still devoured Btw there's different types of tres leches to choose from!

Jim W.

Yelp
This bakery is amazing! Such a variety of FRESH pastries. The cakes look amazing too. AND the staff is super friendly and helpful. Just GO!

Brittanie H.

Yelp
Came here after perusing Yelp for the best Tres Leches in the city. I wanted to call ahead to customize my order but I was under the weather the whole week prior and decided to just drive over to pick up a cake same day. Thankfully they had some cakes premade. I walked over to the case and I was promptly and brightly greeted by the clerk. She explained to me what was available and the prices. I wanted a small tres leches with mango or passion fruit filling but it wasn't available. Since I was last minute, I opted for the closest thing: a medium-sized, round tres leches with peach filling. The decorations were absolutely gorgeous. She boxed it up for me. I decided to order a flan for my Mom as a special treat and a topo chico for me. My mom absolutely loved the flan and the person who I bought the cake for was absolutely delighted and said it was the best tres leches ever. I tasted a little bit but since I was under the weather my palate was completely mute. The texture was spot on though. I will definitely be coming here for in the future! Great find!

Jennifer B.

Yelp
This place is awesome. Super large pastries for a very reasonable price and everything was delicious. Highly recommend.

Nicola F.

Yelp
I am so impressed with this bakery! They have a large plexiglass case in the middle of the room containing 20 to 25 different pastries that only cost about a dollar each. They also have several different kinds of tres leches and other cakes in a cooler. And recently they have added a gorgeous selection of handmade vegan ice creams. Give them a try. You will not regret it.

Dez C.

Yelp
I took my grandma here about a week ago. She was visiting from California and wanted some Mexican treats. I found this place online and figured we would give it a try. At this location you are able to get a tray and pick the treats you want. Once you're done shopping around you take them and pay at the counter. We got about 6 things. 2 braided treats. One had red filling. The other had yellow filling. One cookie with a red smiley face. A pineapple with a cherry cake square, a roll with pink icing on top and something else! I just can't remember. It brought back good memories for my grandpa. The gentlemen ringing up our order was nice and very helpful when I asked if they had any items with apples in them. Would come again!

Jessica B.

Yelp
Very authentic Mexican bakery. We tried three things and we will be back! What to get: Tres leches cake for sure but then we also had a sugar cookie and the sweet bread cake which was delicious and not too sweet. Other notes: the service was very thoughtful too. The woman went out of her way to try to explain each pastry. For three things it was $3.70!
