15 Essential Greenville Avenue Restaurants

"An excellent, and delicious, spot for a different kind of barbecue. Enjoy bite-sized grilled meats (it’s yakiniku-style) that include American and Japanese wagyu as well as USDA Prime. And the $80 per person tasting menu is a great option to try a little of a lot of what this place offers." - Courtney E. Smith, Rachel Pinn

Considering other Japanese BBQ locally, this was below average, and happens to be the most expensive. Cabbage salad did not taste fresh. Meats were salty and overly marinated. Service was slow for an "upscale" place like this. I waited 10 minutes for my water to be refilled. It took the same amount of time to get a hold of a server. I wouldn't come back.

1. The restaurant feels as hot as a grill—despite the 100-degree weather, they had the windows open with no relief. 2. You basically have to cook everything yourself, and the staff is extremely slow and unresponsive. 3. Side dishes aren’t included and are severely overpriced for the small portions we received. 4. Speaking of $10 Kimchi. Bruh there was tomato…………..done 5. No one was there on weekends

Had no idea what to expect when I came in tonight, but Jesse was amazing at walking us through the experience and the food was out of this world! Had the American Wagyu Tasting and it was expensive but so so worth it! The meat melted in your mouth and the sides were very good as well. Even the drink (we had the raspberry martini) was amazing! Such a great experience from start to finish and something very different than the usual boring restaurants. Definitely give this place a try!

Google
We dined with Jessie and he was an amazing server and answered all of our questions! Food was amazing. We got the sample platter ($35) and garlic noodles ($12) and ended with their soft serve ($5 each). A great date night spot!

Google
Great little restaurant on Greenville. I have been here multiple times for special occasions. I recommend making a reservation to avoid the long wait times on the weekend since they are very popular. Once we entered we were greeted by the host and was sat promptly. Our server came by and greeted us and gave us the rundown of their concept and menu. We always order the signature tasting and have never been dissatisfied. My personal favorites are the kobe beef, sukiyaki, and A5 wagyu, but as of 2024 it looks like they don't serve the kobe beef anymore :-(. The only drinks we ordered were the lychee martini and it was amazing as well.

I dined here for my birthday and the experience was amazing!

Decided to indulge here for a relative’s birthday. Came in on Saturday early lunch and the place was empty beside us. A few more tables came in after we ordered, so we were a bit surprised how long it took for some of the meats to come out. We ordered the $120 “signature tasting” which came with choice of apps and soup. The meats were all delicious, though some thicker cut than others and it can be a fun experience especially for little ones to flip the meat on the grill. At the end we chose the Umami fried rice which I would order on its own.

Google
Amazing food and atmosphere. The first one in Texas but came from Japan to California and growing! The meats were amazing and garlic fried rice was to die for! Great service and professional treatment. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We had such a great experience at Manpuku! First of all, the service was exceptional from the moment we walked in, the staff was warm, attentive, and super helpful. I was especially excited because I'm originally from Orange County, and Manpuku was one of my go-to spots back home. So finding out they have a location in Dallas? Instant yes. We came to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and decided to go with the omakase for two. Let me tell you, it was the perfect choice. Every cut of meat was incredibly fresh and well-seasoned, and the pacing of the meal was spot-on. You really get to savor each course without feeling rushed. The staff even added a little birthday touch at the end which made the whole experience feel even more special. The atmosphere is upscale but still cozy, and it's a great spot whether you're doing date night, a birthday, or just want to treat yourself to some high-quality Japanese BBQ!

Yelp
Manpuku is very fancy. It sets itself with a high class atmosphere, dim lighting, and neatly uniformed waiters/waitresses. It's the perfect place to bring a date if you want to impress and I'm pretty sure the couple next to us on their first date would agree. Had one of the omakase tastings and everything was delicious. It was a lot of food and a good portion of the food was not the BBQ meat itself. It was almost too much food. As expected for this type of restaurant, it is quite pricy for what you get and given the ratio of meat to price, it felt a little exorbitant. If I had to change something, I would say that we should have opted for a la carte as a lot of the fullness came from the side meals rather than the meat itself. Probably not a place I would go out of my way to go to again but I certainly enjoyed my experience.

Yelp
Unforgettable Japanese BBQ! Manpuku's Signature Tasting menu is an absolute beauty, offering a stunning array of meats. The highlight of the show was undoubtedly the Wagyu Short Rib. Also, loved the assorted 4 piece tasting that we received from the chef. Beyond the food, Manpuku boasts attentive and knowledgeable service that ensures a seamless dining experience. If you're looking for a solid Japanese BBQ experience in Dallas, Manpuku is your spot. However, it is definitely on the pricer side (hence the 4 stars) so would save this for a special occasion so if you're craving Japanese bbq for better value Gyu-Kaku is the move.

Yelp
I'm sad to say my review of this place has changed since my first experience, but I feel this opinion is likely shared by others as the restaurant used to be packed and is now only a few tables at a time. I think their has been changes made resulting in decreased quality. I want to start by saying our server was FANTASTIC, but the food was not near the caliber it used to be. Additionally, we had an issue with our food that had to be addressed by management and I felt that the employees impacted by the complaint seemed annoyed after the fact. All in all, I hope they are able to get back to their previous food & service levels, but until then, I will not likely be returning.

Yelp
I have been to the Manpuku restaurants in Tokyo, and the food, drinks and service at the Dallas location were excellent and at the same level as the Tokyo location, which did not disappoint. The atmosphere was much better in Dallas than in Tokyo. My family is also a big fan of this restaurant. I'll be back soon.

Yelp
This restaurant was AMAZING! Not only was the staff super friendly and knowledgeable but the food was absolutely delicious. My husband and I got miso soup, gyoza, garlic noodles, Prime Miso Skirt Steak, and Kobe Ribeye. The sauce on the miso skirt steak was crazy good and had some sweetness. Both cuts of meet were super tender and only took 30-45 seconds on each side to cook. The garlic noodles are a MUST order. They pair super well with the meat. They also serve the meat with a dipping sauce that is sweet and savory. We also each ordered a cocktail. I ordered the akasaka raspberry lychee martini and my husband got the ebisu highball. Both were absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a fun and cozy date night or for an experience with friends.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food and service. Hitting all the key points: Drinks: they have a great patio and bar. I'm not sure why it isn't packed 24/7 if I'm honest. The prices are good and they have some really tasty cocktails (try the raspberry lychee martini - my husband quickly downed two). They don't short you on the alcohol either. Food: the beef is next level. I've literally had fresh-on-the-ranch beef and this is that level. The lowest grade that they serve is prime (which is the highest grade in the US). They get A5 flown in from Japan, which is really hard to get (I didn't even think Japan allowed export of A5). It comes with a certificate and all. We also had chicken and shrimp (both also imported from Japan) and it's all delicious. The difference in quality is actually perceptible. As a random other high note: the fried rice. It's not just your run-of-the-mill fried rice. They make it at the table and the garlic gives it some extra oomph. We did the prix fixe of the $75 menu and added an order of A5. They portions were generous and we were very full (and took food home) Dessert: we had the yogurt. It was good, but I was honestly too full to eat it all. Service: the staff were really lovely and the manager came out and spoke with us and answered a lot of my questions. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
The food was delicious! My family of 3 ordered the prime tasting and it was enough food for all of us. My favorite was the spicy miso and the fried noodles. They also have cocktails here. Our waiter was lovely. I will definitely be back for more

Yelp
First time I've been here. Loved the food and the experience. Ordered the American Beef tasting with Black beef tongue. It was delicious! Beautiful cuts of great quality beef, well seasoned. Love the salad dressing they use for the cabbage salad. Staff was attentive without being annoying. Ambiance was super chill.

Yelp
My friend and I came here for the first time and had an incredible meal in a beautiful, calming atmosphere. We did the prefix and each course was really delicious. Had to add the octopus balls and they were amazing. The standout was the Matcha Martini, so deliciously creamy and balanced with quality matcha green tea. Never had a matcha martini before and now Manpuku's is my new go to drink.

Yelp
I like this place! Flavors are there, great servers, easy reservations, parking sucks but worth it!! On the corner on Greenville, so make sure you come a few minutes earlier to find parking! Call to make a reservation or Online. I spoke with hostess Rosa who accommodated my last minute party of 8 which I so appreciated! She was professional and throughout! We had the $100 specials which came out slow in my Opinion, and it's like Tiny "pieces" so if you don't like that. Just Order meats and everything else a la carte. Flavors were So so delicious! And they have a full bar so that was great. They didn't have casa migos though, sadly lol. I recommend the uni and Kobe appetizer, Kobe beef, A5, shrimp & garlic noodles were so yummy!!! I will be back to Taste more!

Yelp
Been 3 times and every time it has been incredible. Love the atmosphere and is a nice cozy place for the winter. Food tastes amazing and is well priced for the amount of meat you get. Great bar too!

Yelp
Long overdue review for what was my New Year's Eve dinner earlier this year. I was visiting friends in Plano and they had made reservations here for an early NYE's celebration. The restaurant was bare at this time and that ended up having its own perks. The space and interior is warm, with rich earthy tones, and a light industrial vibe. I don't recall much of what was ordered, but what I can tell you with absolute clarity, is that the Sukiyaki, was amazing. I believe our table had 10 orders which were hand made by our waiter at our table. As we progressed through our meal, a few more of their staff came by to chat. I'm looking forward to coming back here someday to try more of their menu out.

Yelp
Came here to try out their American Wagyu tasting. It came with a good amount of food items but in the end I wasn't full. Appetizers were decent. The corn, garlic shrimp and salad. Soup was really good. It had a lot of flavor, tender meat and good tofu. The wagyu meats were good but nothing blew me away. Many weren't seasoned that well. They only tasted good with their sweet brown sauce. The amount of meat given wasn't that much for 2 people. We also enjoyed some delicious cocktails they offered. We had the saketini and the lychee martini. The final dessert was the strawberry parfait and we really loved it. Service was really good. They were attentive and explained everything well. Food and drinks came out at a reasonable pace. Overall I wouldn't come back because of the amount of meats given for the price and the lack of flavor they had.

Rachel S.

Yelp
We were a party of 4 and all did the tasting menu. It was delicious and plenty of food especially the shrimp and the fried rice. Pacing of food coming out was very nice as well for cocktails and conversation.

Yelp
Can't believe I've gone this long without sharing my experience at MANPUKU! I love the concept of Japanese barbecue and this was my first time ever trying it. The service was outstanding. We had such a great time vibing to good music and delicious plates. "To be happy with a full stomach." This is the translation of the Japanese word "Manpuku." Being someone who dances when I'm eating good food, I resonate with this phrase so well! We came during their early opening days so I can't say if the menu rotates at all, but here are a few things we tried: Uni & kobe beef sashimi, kobe beef nigiri, shrimp cocktail for apps. Manpuku salad, a signature beef tasting of yaki shabu (wagyu beef, grated ponzu, scallions), negi -shio (seasoned prime rib with onions), and sukiyaki (thin-sliced American wagyu beef, free range raw egg yolk, rice ball, sukiyaki sauce). Woowee that's a mouthful. But let me tell you somethingggg, that Sukiyaki with the egg yolk dripping in slow motion over the top was the BEST thing we had! Keep in mind, this is far from a casual grab and go restaurant. With a price tag of about $100 each person, this is definitely something you'd want to go for a date night or celebration! We loved the kind customer service here and the chef who was walking around and introducing himself to each table. Will definitely go back for a fancy date night!
google avatar

Franki H.

Yelp
This place is perfect for date night or special occasion. I went for a birthday dinner and did the signature tasting. It was well worth the $120/pp. Each round of food came with a brief description of how it is to be enjoyed. My favorite was the Sukiyaki and short rib. The raspberry lychee martini was so delicious. We noticed they have a happy hour as well so we will definitely be back

Yelp
I celebrated the turning of the New Year with good friends in the Dallas area and they brought us to one of their favorite Japanese restaurants in the Lower Greenville area. We had early dinner reservations on New Year's eve and it turned out to be a fantastic decision as it felt like we had half of their staff helping us out. My friends ordered most of the meal and all I can remember even now, is the Sukiyaki and their Garlic Noodles, which I can still almost taste as I write this review. Yes it was that good. Our waiter made the Sukiyaki(10 orders) at our table and over the grill, and this was a very personal experience. The whole staff was friendly and inviting. I would happily come back to try more of their menu when I'm back in town. Happy New Year!
google avatar

Lin L.

Yelp
Love this place. Food is delicious, Service definitely the best. Everyone is super friendly & helpful. My server kept checking on us every 15 minutes to make sure we are ok. Ambiance, is a little loud, but I still enjoy my date tonight. Only if they offer a valet parking, it will be perfect experience.
google avatar

Tommy C.

Yelp
I'm going to start off with saying this place is a tad bit pricey. That being said, the service there is top notch. Very attentive and helpful. The food was excellent and I would highly recommend the garlic noodles. Lots of different cuts offered. The ribeye and the filet were our favorites. The rice was tasty too.
google avatar

Jeremy N.

Yelp
Great ambiance real chill environment, FYI you do have to cook your own food! but its good totally worth it, especially on a date night !

Nhu L.

Yelp
Atmosphere was decent but service wasn't so great when we went. Opted for the wagyu course along with some others added on. Meat aside, the appetizers, soups, dessert, etc that was part of the omakase was not memorable and tasted bland. As for the meats, half was tasty whereas the other felt like the seasoning was off. For almost $300 for two based in what we ordered, it felt lacking flavor wise. Expected more based on other reviews.
google avatar

Meghan S.

Yelp
This is the first time I've visited a restaurant where MOST of the previous reviews were 100% accurate. You guys were right. 1. Yes, the portions are small. 2. Yes, the service is amazing! 3. Yes, the décor is fixating. 4. And yes, the food is bland. In fact, the food was so bland, hubs and I asked for salt. It helped a little, but it wasn't life changing. All of the proteins were good cuts of meat except the sausage; my husband noted that it reminded him of a hot dog from the Sam's club food court. However, not a bad place to celebrate a birthday. The entire staff sings the birthday song which engages other diners; made me feel like the most important person in the room. Yes, the frozen dessert on the tasting menu is basic but it doesn't take away from the taste. Still delicious. Just avoid the cocktails altogether---the lavender saketini & old fashion were total misses. We spent $200 (excluding tip) and left somewhat content--not hungry, but not full. I probably wouldn't return but thoroughly enjoyed the hardworking staff.

Yelp
Nice, Japanese restaurant in the lower Greenville area of Dallas. The quality of meats and veggies were amazing. The service was also attentive. Actually came here as a graduation dinner. Had some great unfiltered sake and called it a night! Would definitely be back if I was ever back in this lovely area of Dallas!

Yelp
Great restaurant for a fancy occasion or if you want to try something a little different. Giving in to the hype, we were able to get a last minute reservation during the grand opening (huge thanks to the AMEX concierge service). Normally, I am not the type that go for expensive, fancy little dishes, but after seeing so many great pictures on Asian Grub in DFDUB FB group, I was excited to give them a try. We opted for the American Wagyu Tasting option, which is $68/person. To our surprise, we thoroughly enjoyed every single dishes, with the exception of the vanilla soft serve (a little too sweet for what we prefer). You really can't go wrong with any of the meat. The menu option that we chose did not come wiht the Sukiyaki, which I really wanted to try. We did add that on top of the $68 menu, which was a great call and worked out well since there were 2 pieces in 1 order. Knowing the amount of food wouldn't be efficient enough for our appetite, we "pregame" at home first and were happy with what we got. However, I could go for another 2-3 orders of everything to be fully satisfied. The quality of all the dishes, the attentive service, and the beautiful/classy decoration inside do make for a fancy occasion meal. We definitely plan on coming back (especially to use the $40 coupons lol) soon next time we feel fancy haha
google avatar

Cat N.

Yelp
Their menu consists of three different selections at three different price point. I'm not going to emphasize the $40 portion because it's chicken. Eat that at home or somewhere else. Don't come to a Japanese wagyu beef place and get chicken. Next we have the wagyu tasting $68. Had the most food but lower quality compare to the $100 selections. If you are really hungry and don't care for the quality of meat, get the $68. I highly recommend the $100 selection though. Go big or go home. Everything I had was awesome! The chef gifted us beef tongue because my friend has been five times already since opening. Haha that was also delicious! I think you can order that a la carte. I like that the grill has built in vent so it suck up the smoke and won't stick to your clothes! The beef appetizer on the spoon I ate raw. Some I cooked myself and some they cook for you. This was an experience

Yelp
The moment I read about Manpuku on the Dallas Observer, on my list it went. I love this place. Ambiance was great! We made reservations and came on a Friday night. Did the Signature Tasting, so had some of the amazing options the restaurant offered. I'd most definitely come back. Everything was scrumptious and staffs were amazing.

Yelp
I heard about this place from friends and social media. I was very excited to take my brother here for his birthday. Unfortunately, it was not what I expected and was not worth the money spent. I would have gone elsewhere, this place is definitely overhyped. The food was still good, but none of it got me to do a "ouhhh yummy" or "damn that's good"

Jonny T.

Yelp
The worst service I've experienced in a very long time. We waited 30 minutes past our reservation to be seated. The bar area was filthy with literal pill bottles on the window sill. Should have walked out then. Once we were seated, we waited 15-20 minutes to be acknowledged by a server. In fact, the server serving the table next to us knew we had been sitting there for a long time but never acknowledged until his coworker came over and they had a disagreement of whose table it was. The table wasn't cleaned and the cooking tray had to be swapped out. Filthy menus. Once we were sat (and acknowledged by a server) , we ordered two more drinks. Lychee martini was served to me in a wine glass with no acknowledgment why. Beer was forgotten- had to ask for it again. Food order was messed up. Table was not set with plates, utensils, napkins and was never wiped down. Our server was lovely and certainly took the fault for the delay in service. Bathroom filthy. Restaurant filthy. Health department should check this place out. Will never go back. Very disappointed.
google avatar

Amber B.

Yelp
We had a great time catching up with Friends here. We were seated quickly with our menus. The service was a bit weird as we had two people who were kind of inconsistent. The food was good, they seemed to forget that sauce came on the side with the wings but I didn't make a fuss about it mostly because the chicken tasted too chewy to me and not fried chicken as the menu said. Nonetheless, the garlics noodles were ok. The other people with me enjoyed cooking their food and it wasn't bad at all. Nice for groups and bathroom was clean.
google avatar

Michael J.

Yelp
Has changed since last visit. Great staff and service but the product is not the same quality as before...sorry folks
google avatar

Caitlyn R.

Yelp
I visited Manpuku for the first time with friends this past Sunday. We had a reservation for a group of 6 (only one person from the group had previously been to this restaurant). We were promptly seated and our server was there to immediately explain the menu, take our drink orders, and put in a few orders of appetizers while we decided what was best to order for our meal. Everyone chose to go with the middle set (American Wagyu) and wow... it was fantastic! Not pictured, because it was too good to wait before eating is the Sukiyaki (sushi rice, thin slice of beef and topped with raw egg yolk). I would HIGHLY recommend that for everyone. They will also give to you without egg yolk if you prefer but I think it's best with the egg yolk. Overall, all the beef we had was fantastic but the two that stood out most to me were the filet and short rib. Not really possible to go wrong here though.
google avatar

George S.

Yelp
My favorite Japanese BBQ place. Quality of the food is very high in general, and everything I've tried has been delicious. Of particular note: - the portobello mushrooms and garlic noodles are some of the best I've tried. We usually get 2 orders of the mushrooms they're so good. - for meats I recommend the Rib cap and ribeye - a special treat is the sukiyaki- Kobe, egg and rice - maybe favorite item overall Service has always been very good and very nice. Nothing has disappointed yet after quite a few visits. We're already regulars so I expect I'll update this with more good stuff in the future.

Yelp
This place had been on my list of places to try in DFW area for a while now and overall it is a nice place.. The only issue we had was the wait to receive our food. Several customers came in and ordered after us but received their food before us. We had the soft shell crab tempura & dynamite shrimp appetizer which were good. For the entree we did the Manpuku Course which was perfect for two. The garlic rice was so good I finished it before our meats even came out...
google avatar

Gill S.

Yelp
While this is better than anything that Gyu Kaku offers, theres some elements that don't feel as special as it could be. Reservations are recommended since this place can fill up quick during prime time. The service here was OK, but they messed up the order of how things came out. We got the main meat course before the garlic rice and onion meat came out. Not a night ruiner, but the onion meat pales in comparison to the wagyu meat they serve. The cabbage salad was actually fresh, light, and had flavor. Dressing was heavy but it worked out for me. The shrimp didn't feel necessary. Takes a lot longer to cook and it didn't make the experience any better. The spicy beef soup was pretty damn good! I would have liked to see some more acidity, but the saving grace was the amount of shredded beef that was inside of this soup. Works out even better when it's a cold night. The kimchi is fantastic. Regardless of whether they make it in house or have it from a jar, this is good stuff. The meat with onion on top was a novelty. Its still a prime cut of meat, but it pales in comparison to the wagyu offerings. The onions add the novelty of texture in this instance. The wagyu offering was good with the filet, ribeye, and short rib. The chuck flap was still tasty, but is a throw away piece of meat compared to everything else. The short rib and ribeye were my favorite. The garlic rice was awful. Clumpy wet rice, with barely any flavor. Perhaps I had a bad batch, but I cant recommend anyone eating that lump of white crap I was served. The strawberry parfait was simple but satisfying. Fresh strawberries and a creamy base of a parfait. I ended up trying the cheesecake souffle, and I wasn't impressed with that. It felt too airy and not enough of a tangy cheesecake flavor. I cant see myself wanting to eat here during the hot summer nights, since theres a blazing fire on your table the whole time. But this place is for sure an upgrade from Gyu Kaku. Youll end up spending way more money at Manpuku, but at least I felt it was justified. Don't expect the greatest meal in your life, but the quality of meat and most of the sides were worth having.
google avatar

Alex M.

Yelp
Best Asian barbecue we have had a DFW, period. The meat is top notch. The fried rice was surprisingly good. Maybe the only thing we didn't absolutely love what is the simple fact that we only have one stomach per person and we wish we had a room to eat this meal three times over.
google avatar

Dee V.

Yelp
I have been to this restaurant about 4 times so far and each time I have loved it. We always do the US beef tasting. I couldn't tell you what all the meats are outside of shrimp and pork belly but it's delicious. My favorite was the recently added pork belly that comes with a plate of lettuce and sides, but the true shining star is their garlic rice! Come hungry or you won't get through the first meat drop. My waiter suggested the pork cheek and I will be trying that next time.
google avatar

Ed L.

Yelp
Went to Manpuku for a birthday dinner on Thurs July 22 and enjoyed it a lot! They took a little while to seat us (20+ minutes past our reservation) but they only recently opened and the place is really busy. V was our server and she was so friendly and easy-going and made sure we had a great dinner. Had a bottle of their nigori sake w our signature tasting dinner and it was a solid choice. The picky eater in our party went a la carte and had the garlic fried rice and chicken breast - she liked both a lot and I'm glad she had that option. The appetizer came out at the end of the meal with the rice and soup which was weird but we felt like the beef with uni was outstanding. Uni isn't for everyone though so keep that in mind b/c 1 person in our party wasn't a fan. The meats were really good. However, everyone in our party agreed that the Kobe short rib (and filet) was MUCH better than the A5 Wagyu (which was chewy and less tender than we thought it would be given the marbling). That's why this particular dinner was a solid 4 star but not a 5. The up-charge to add the A5 is more than $30 pp, and if we were to go back we would definitely go with the Kobe tasting or order a la carte. We recommend Manpuku for a special occasion because all of the meats were quite good and the staff are so much fun!

Yelp
My daughter said this is the most expensive struggle meal she has ever had. Now she is a little dramatic. She's a vegetarian, so... I am not a vegetarian, but I am allergic to beef and shellfish. My husband was not a fan. I say just go to a good Korean BBQ place at least you'll get banchan. I'm glad we gave it a chance, but no. I only took 2 pictures. Anyway we got the veggies, prime rib, and pork belly. We all got garlic fried rice. Again, just go get KBBQ. My husband did like the Japanese old fashioned and the house cold same was good. Ryan, our waiter, was nice.

Yelp
We have been spoiled by these Japanese restaurants opening up new locations in Dallas. My mouth is watering as I begin to type this review because every visit here has been nothing short of phenomenal! Environment - Without a doubt, the waiters here are always so knowledgable. They do a great job of explaining things on the menu, showing us specials of the day, and recommending sake pairings. Never a bad time. Food (the best) - If you haven't been here before, I highly recommend ordering the Signature Tasting Omakase. You'll get a good feel of the menu, and it showcases some really great options that they have. After ordering that once, my boyfriend and I were able to pick out our favorites and order a la carte the next few times we came back. Favorites - You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. If you're ever unsure about which cut to order, let the waiter know how much marbling/fat you prefer, and I'm sure you'll get a great recommendation. With that being said, I'll highlight a few - Sukiyaki - A definite must. The waiter comes by and sears thinly sliced American wagyu, wraps a warm rice ball with the wagyu, and dips it into a rich sukiyaki sauce with a raw egg yolk. A5 rib cap - Need I say more? Check for availability; they run out quickly. Pork belly - comes with a fresh side of kimchi, bean sprouts, and cold lettuce. Uni & Kobe beef sashimi - for my fellow uni lovers, this one is for you! Spicy beef noodle - not very spicy, much very flavorful lol. They also have a fairly good selection of sake and wines. Our go to is the Dassai 23 (balanced and fresh). Note - Not up for that much grilled meat in your mouth? Lol. Manpuku started a cute concept called Niku Bar, which is the little outdoor patio area (still part of the restaurant) that hugs Lower Greenville. You can order drinks and really delicious tapas that come straight from Manpuku's kitchen.

Yelp
I came here on my birthday for dinner and had a good, but not perfect experience. I ordered the American Wagyu tasting as well as an additional order of A5 wagyu. The appetizers and soup were both pretty good. Pretty much all of the meats were really good except, surprisingly, the A5 wagyu (which I expected to be the best one). The A5 wagyu was too fatty and thick cut for my liking-- the A5 wagyu I've had at other places melted effortlessly while eating it, but the one here was actually a bit chewy. The parfait dessert was also a bit disappointing. The presentation of it was cute, but the ice cream literally tasted like cheap buffet ice cream. For a $72 meal, I would've hoped they could at the very least provide grocery store quality ice cream or something. The service was pretty good for an Asian BBQ place and the restaurant has a nice ambiance to it. I feel like at KBBQ places they rarely come by and check on you (they just replace the grills every now on then), but they were relatively attentive here. I would come back, but would probably order a la carte next time.

Yelp
Manpuku's definitely an experience worth trying once; even though I'm not huge on Japanese-style barbecue (mostly for portion size and price point reasons), I enjoyed my time here. The spicy beef soup and the cabbage slaw that come with the set meals were great, and I also enjoyed the crispy garlic rice quite a bit. My favorite bite of meat was definitely the sukiyaki, which is a ball of rice wrapped in a thin slice of meat and dipped in egg yolk. Everything else was very fresh, but portion sizes aren't the biggest here (to be expected) and the other meats didn't really leave a huge impression. Definitely come for the experience and to try the sukiyaki, though!

Yelp
The meat with egg yolk is the BEST. Meats are all tender and juicy. None of it was dry which surprises you because of the way it looks. Price may be on the higher side if you're comparing it with other Japanese BBQ places BUT in consideration of the location and quality of meat, you can understand.

Yelp
Full disclosure, we used to be regulars here. We may never come back. Terrible food. The grills were not working when we came. The sukiyaki came out cold, and the beef tongue came out unchewable, hard, and unseasoned. Then the waiter tried to gaslight us saying beef tongue was supposed to be that chewy. Like I obviously know what beef tongue is supposed to taste like and this looked and tasted like dog food. We canceled the rest of our food and went to eat elsewhere. Terrible service. We did get there late for our reservation, but after a bit of waiting they did seat us. Then the table was sticky and soy sauce from the table got on my friend's white sweater. So we asked for it to be wiped down again, but in the process the waiter sprayed cleaning solution into my water, then seemed annoyed when I asked for a new water. And then while passing out sauce dishes his bracelet dipped into the sauce, so we asked for a new sauce. He collected it, but then passed the same dirty sauce platter back out to us, which we had to protest once again. We couldn't trust the cleanliness of anything we were handed after that. Overpriced. They did try to remediate by comping the beef tongue and offering a 12% discount, but we still ended up paying $85 for sukiyaki, and a side of rice and noodles. Our party of 5 each, in total, ate 1 bite of beef, and maybe 3 bites of each side. FOR $85 PLUS TIP. We left, STARVING, to go to one of our favorite kbbq places and paid $96 for all of us to eat delicious food to our heart's content. Unbelievable.

Yelp
The place has great ambiance located in lower Greenville. The meat looked very fresh and they gave us thorough instructions on how to grill them. The portions are kinda small and wee bit expensive

Yelp
Our party of 6 booked a lunch here. The environment is nice and comfortable. The quality of the food was good. However, expect very very very small portions - even for the entrees. They were more like tapas. At the prices that they were charging, this place is expensive. After spending north of $400 (without drinks), we were still hungry. As for service, it was horrendous. There were only two tables that had customers. And, our server was nowhere in sight most of the time. Overall, I would not recommend this place. If you want to fork over an arm and a leg, go for it. However, I would recommend going to another Korean/Japanese BBQ place.

Yelp
I went here a little while back and I had some mixed feelings. My partner and I got the signature tasting ($100/per person). I was extremely excited since I love wagyu and the rest of the menu items sounded really unique and yummy! The meat overall was definitely a 10/10. It was tender and flavorful and delicious. Absolutely worth it. The sides and appetizers though were a bit disappointing. I was really excited to try the spicy beef soup, but when it arrived, the flavor was very... bland. I'm not sure if maybe it was just a bad day? But neither me, or my partner were fans of it. Additionally, the amount of garlic fried rice we received for two people was pretty small? It's possible that maybe one order was forgotten, so I won't knock them for that. I did also get a lychee martini and it was super yum!! Overall, it was a super fun experience, relaxing ambiance, and yummy meats. I think the $100 menu is worth it at least once, but I will most likely stick with their $72 or $50 menu next time. Meat quality was super good and the restaurant is in a really fun area!!

Yelp
I made a reservation a week in advance for a big group and they emailed me stating it had been canceled and gave me no reason. I tried calling and was hung up on them kept calling to find out they blocked me. Unprofessional service I would go somewhere else

Yelp
We've been here a total of 3 times The first time we were judged by the hostess dismissed and seated later than our reservations while others were seated before us. Although no dress code is posted don't show up looking casual, they'll make it a point you feel out of place. The food was good at least. The last two were completely disappointing. Word of advice do not make a reservation for anything close to their closing time. By close I mean with in two hours of it. They will rush you with the food, clean around you, and pass by with constant glares so you know to speed it up. The food in that time period is thrown together and the chefs stand at the line glaring.
