Super cool cafe in a beautiful walkable area of Escondido. Across the street from art galleries and other shops. I got an egg and cheese breakfast sandwich, muffin, and a brown sugar iced late. Charlie my dog got a jerky stick (for free). Everything was amazing. The breakfast sandwich was done in a way that was unique. Super tasty. The latte was on point. I loved the vibe and the service was amazing. They have outdoor seating and very dog friendly.

The iced latte here was excellent! You could taste the fresh beans and paired with house made syrups, it was just the perfect cup! It was perfectly sweet & creamy while still have a coffee taste. I also enjoyed the avocado toast, it was simple & delicious. The toast was nice & crunchy, however, I would have enjoyed a bit more avocado on top. Definitely come for the coffee & vibes!

Today, I enjoyed a bold cup of coffee with my mother at Manzanita Roasting Company. Located near the theater, Manzanita provides an appropriate ambience that complements the theater. This coffee shop has large doors that provide an easy open-air feel. This is a delightful place to enjoy a moment with family and friends. While I was there, they replaced the menu, see photo. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. When you find yourself in Escondido, take a moment to enjoy this coffee shop. I look forward to sipping another cup of coffee at Manzanita.

The latte had a strong, overwhelming flavor, but the texture was okay. It was decent, not great, but not bad either.

Bought an iced vanilla latte here and it was delicious. Definitely worth the money. There was no air conditioning inside, so it was a little hot to sit in here, but it is a cute place to sit. The upstairs is even hotter, so maybe avoid sitting there, although it is more quiet upstairs. The man who took my order and made my drink was friendly. The bathrooms were quite dirty, though.

Was in neighborhood and dropped by for a single origin pour over coffee. The facility has an interesting eclectic feel to their interior design. Very clean and especially the restroom was perfect i.e. sounds funny but clean bright restrooms cost the owners money and shows willingness to invest $$$ without any apparent direct ROI. Coffee (Ethiopian) was exactly as their written description on the menu-good! Pastry was fresh and tasty. Definitely worth stopping in with some friends.

I have found my favorite coffee shop!! I’ve only been here a few times but the atmosphere is quite lovely! That’s the only way I can describe it. It’s quiet in a calm way. People are here (with kids) and talking but it’s not the hustle and bustle of other shops. I don’t live near here me, but this might become a regular “Let’s go have coffee” spot. Definitely I want a change of scenery and coffee. I got peanut butter toast today so I could feel like a kid! It’s actually TWO slices. I was not expecting that. If you have two young kids (minus allergies) you could order one of these and feed both. 😆 They have some gluten free options in the baked goods. Today they had protein donuts. Next time.

Manzanita “north” (as opposed to the RB location) is a wonderful add to the eastern end of Grand Ave in downtown Esco. Beautiful remodel in the corner of the vintage theater with open doorways and a large airy comfortable seating area. Same smooth rich coffee, same great menu selection as RB location (healthy breakfast and pastries), and a few fun unique gifts. Friendly and warm service with a smile. Great coffee house. Stop by next time you are in the area, I promise you’ll become a regular! 😁☕️😁

Cortado was bold, but I can't decide if I liked it; some sips were good, others not - those who enjoy coffee with a lot of layered flavors will likely appreciate. Ok pastries; few options. Service was very disorganized, didn't take names or issue order numbers. Multiple customers at a time standing in front of pickup counter trying to sort out orders. Beautiful space inside; though, music was a little loud for my taste, which took away from atmosphere unfortunately.

I am always on the hunt for good coffee wherever I travel, and Manzanita was on point in so many ways. This location is in quiet downtown Escondido, close to a number of hotels in the area. It was surprisingly not busy for a Saturday morning, but the cafe/coffee roaster was still doing steady business with a number of families and dogs coming in and out. The shop is located in the open air lobby of an independent movie theater, but it had its own polished vibe with some sleek details that reminded me of Golden Age Hollywood, while still having a down to earth vibe with lots of plants and different places to sit and lounge. There were quite a few furry friends, which would have delighted my little one, had he been with me. I got a flat white with almond milk, which was smooth, creamy, and slightly acidic but well balanced. Just what a flat white should be. There were various pastries and food options, but I already had breakfast so I didn't partake. There were some gluten free baked goods, though (looked like they were packaged from a different bakery). I didn't have the time to sit in, and unfortunately didn't get a chance to come back. If I were in the area again or lived in the vicinity, I would definitely be back.

Excellent espresso drinks made perfectly. Staff is knowledgeable, quick, and friendly. Food is good too.

We were looking for a dog friendly spot to take our new rescue pup! We sat outside but looks like there were dogs inside the coffee shop too! I got a matcha with vanilla, a bacon and egg breakfast sandwich, and my husband got a coffee! It was all good. Coffee refill was a $1.

Had myself the best lavender latte today and avocado toast, my 3 year old was also a huge fan. The barista was so sweet and even took my son's croissant order and was so kind and patient with him. Very welcoming, we will definitely be coming back!

Came here on Sunday a little before 10am. There was a lot of people because next door they have a Sunday service at 10am. But the line wasn't long. There was also a lot nearby so parking was easy for a quick go and leave. Not sure if we were allowed to park there or not, but there weren't any signs saying not. But there wasn't like any street parking if you wanted to stay for a while. I got their seasonal latte, which was Coconut Caramel Latte ($5.75), and my friend got a Plain Latte ($4.75) with an Espresso Double Shot ($2.00). The shots made it very bitter for me, but my friend thought it was fine. I think each coffee is 2 shots default because the worker said quad shot for the additional double shot. Got our drinks very quickly, maybe like 2 min of a wait. There's a good amount of seating here! There were some people studying or working as well so this must be a decent place for that. I didn't taste the coconut at all in the drink. Next time I'll probably just try their Brown Butter since I know I like that. They sell an Espresso Martini Mix ($30) apparently actually makes 10 drinks even though it says 6. You can find it in the fridge in front of the order counter by the entrance.

I came here to do some work outside of the house for a few hours on a Sunday morning. It was a great place to catch up on things, the brown butter latte was the perfect amount of sweet and enough caffeine. I really liked the avocado toast because they added some pickled red onions! It was also larger than I thought. i love the open air concept, it was also shaded enough from the heat! I would definitely come again. I had to park in the public lot on the other side of the street.

Came close to closing about 20 minutes so the staff member was a bit dry and rushing to close. Space had a good amount of space to sit and relax with a good cup of Joe. we also opted for a bag of beans but not just any coffee beans, beans fermented with strawberries! The flavor is really pronounced with each cup we make at home! Would love to come back and check out the rest.

I was on an Escondido Facebook page & read a sad post from the owner saying that they were getting bad reviews. So I went the following day to give support. Unfortunately, after my experience, I feel like the bad reviews may be accurate... I ordered with an asian girl who seemed like she absolutely hated her job. I was standing there & it took her awhile to acknowledge me so I had to wave her down. It was just a short interaction but there was attitude as if I was bothering her. I went to sit down to wait for my coffee & it was pretty dead. It took her awhile to even make my drink & then she just left it at the counter without saying a word & I had to ask her if this was my order. Brown Butter Latte: The brown butter flavor was extremely light.

While I was perusing a new coffee place, I saw that this was in the area I was at so I decided to check it out. An interesting location next to I believe a theatre and a bunch of young kids were passing through going upstairs when I arrived. I read the reviews and the unanimous "brown butter" latte was the go to. I truly had high expectations . I ordered them "hot" one with regular milk and one with oat milk. Sorry but I was so disappointed. It was ok. I also ordered the egg, cheddar and bacon sandwich. It was decent. I surely liked it better than the coffee. I spoke with a regular customer while I was waiting for my drinks. He said the cortado coffee was really good. So unfortunately my personal experience fell short of what I was hoping to be an amazing discovery. If I'm in the area again, just maybe I'll try something else.

What a great little place...or not so little space! Don't let the entrance fool you! We were on our way to a workshop, and after lunch down the street, I needed coffee. We walked in and the menu had a number of interesting choices. I decided on the Brown Butter latte. I could hear someone in the back as we waited...this gave me a chance to look around and I saw a sign for their seasonal drink: Orange Cardamon When the young girl came out, she apologized and I think felt bad we were waiting. I asked about how many shots were in the drink, and there's two which was perfect. I also ordered it iced. This was a very delicious coffee drink. The flavor was not overpowering which some places tend to do, so I can actually taste the coffee as well! Great place to come to if you're in the area! It also is dog friendly! I'm sure Cako would approve!

Super chill cafe with delicious coffee drinks. I love the vibe with its soft jazz music playing in the background. A lovely place to read or hang out with a friend. Parking can be a bit tricky with street parking only. The barista was super friendly and I enjoyed my latte tremendously.

Friendly staff. Inviting shop. Delicious coffee! I have a brown butter latte with oatmilk. Creamy, rich, smooth, satisfying. Perfect. Not too many sweet treats left this time of day, which probably helped me out comfortable place to hang.

This place is one of the best coffee shops in North County San Diego. It has a small menu, but the options are all well thought out and high quality. For drinks there are non-dairy options. For breakfast/snacks there are non-dairy, vegan, vegetarian, non-red meat and (sometimes) gluten-free options. There is plenty of outside and inside seating, a restroom, and overall dog friendly. Highly recommend coming here for a nice cozy coffee break!

The baristas are very nice, and service is always good here. We have continuously enjoyed the savory little pies, avocado toast with pickled onions, and the little crescent moon shortbread cookies. My favorite thing to order here will always be the iced matcha, they really just do it right. The vanilla and lavender lattes are pretty great too.

I'm always looking for a good Pour Over and Manzanita did not disappoint me. (I didn't even take a photo of it - the one you can see below is my wife's seasonal Latte). They also had a very nice selection of sweet treats instead of the usual sad muffins and stale croissants you usually see at coffee shops. I selected a brownie and gladly wolfed it down. The raspberry macarons and the lemon curd pie were close runners up and I plan to come back for then soon enough. I also plan to come back to try the Protein Bowl as a proper breakfast, it reads like an amazing low carb option. The staff was super friendly and accommodating, 10/10!

I tried the brown buttet latte, it was very good and not too sweet! Tried it with oat milk. The cafe is super cute too! The staff were really welcoming. I'll definitely be coming back.

I ordered a pumpkin latte & avocado toast. The pumpkin latte was very bitter and thought maybe it was the batch so they kindly remade I lavender which was still bitter. I didn't want to have them remake it and left as is. The avocado toast was fine however it had butter on the toast then all ingredients. Not what I was expecting as usually it's more of a healthy option on menu does not state they will butter the toast. Picked off most of the picked onions off since I did not want an onion toast. I have been here before and it was great no issues not sure what happened. Prob will not be back. :(

After reading all the recommendations for the browned butter latte, I felt I had to try this. When I got to the shop, which is super cute and spacious, I waffled in my choice. There was also the lavender lemonade, lavender latte and honey latte.... They are speaking my language. Then... I saw the Over The Moon Shortbread- lemon glazed. This place was now speaking allll of my love languages!!! The staff was super nice and very quick! I picked up my beverage, which had lovely art on it! As I sipped my drink, I was not disappointed. It was fabulous! I'd highly recommend this place as your local coffee shop.

Stopped by on a whim, and so glad we did! We will be back for sure. Our orders were a Brown Butter Latte & Vanilla Latte, and both were wonderful. Super smooth, no bitterness, not overly sweet. I only picked the Brown Butter Latte based on other Yelp reviews (thank you!) and it tasted like a creamy latte with a Worther's Original candy melted inside... caramelly, toffee flavors. Barista was great - service was quick. Can't wait to come back to try more!

I definitely need to give this place another try. The biggest and best thing about this coffee shop is they make all of their own flavored syrups. I saw they had a brown butter flavored syrup and wanted to try it. I am a big cold brew fan. But the barista told me that syrup specifically wouldn't work well with iced coffee because it is thick and the hot milk and shot of espresso helps liquify it. So I got it in a latte. It was good, I'm just not a big latte person. The next time I visit home I want to try this place again and try their cold brew and a different flavored syrup that they made.

There is street parking and ample seating inside. The ambiance is really comfortable and the espresso served tasted like a medium roast. Perhaps because it was a holiday but the staff wasn't super nice. I asked about what kind of head was used for the peanut butter toast and she didn't know what it was. I ended up not getting it. Wouldn't make the drive back.

The best vanilla latte in Escondido. After recently going to several "of privilege" coffee shops I realized that coffee should just taste good and be served with a smile. I've had enough of the snobbery and the expense of places that try and sell me on superpremium brew. Manzanita was a breath of fresh air on many levels. While limited in options, which seems to a be a requirement for non-Starbucks shops, they make the the best latte in Escondido. Maybe it's because they make their own drink flavors in house, maybe it's the chill vibe of the place and the friendly employees. In any case, Manzanita make great tasting coffee and tea drinks. Their iced tea reminded me of that bankrupt store called teavana. Very floral... Their location is great too. You don't have to travel to a bad part of Escondido to get a decent cup of coffee (See James Coffee). Maybe they could do better with the pastries but that remains to be experienced.

If I could I would give this place 0 stars. Today, I walked in asked for a latte and a breakfast sandwich. When I got my coffee I realized the top was dirty. The ice was in huge chunks, meaning they didn't even take the time to separate the ice w a scooper. The employee had his AirPods in, I've worked as a barista before and know that's not the way. I asked for a lid and he placed it on the table where it was dirty, asked again respectfully and he said "you can do it yourself" with attitude. I will never be coming back here again, it's one thing to hate your job but it's no one's fault you're mad. - anyways #gentrified #wierdo #dobetter & I'll take the Karen name lmao

I popped in to work remotely before the library opened and this shop is super friendly and cute! I grew up in San Marcos and it's been a MINUTE since I've been over in Escondido, let alone early enough to check out a coffee shop. The space itself is bright and cheery, but more so it's the people. The barista working was super friendly and they happily greeted loads of regulars who stopped in. It's obvious this shop is a community favorite and I loved to see it!! It warmed my lil' north county kid heart to see a place that's still rooted while being an awesome, modern option. Wifi was strong, plenty of tables, easy to find an outlet if you're working/studying, comfy chairs, parking was easy, and of course - the coffee was great!

Came by here on my last day in SD. the vanilla coffee is perfect, they make their own syrup as well.

Fast and quick spot on a corner of DT Escondido. We parked in the grab and go spot, ordered and picked up coffee and we're right on our way. Service was fast and friendly. The ambiance was chill and inviting if someone wanted a place to study but also relaxing if you wanted to walk through and grab a coffee. I'll come back when I want a coffee fix! I stopped by Manzanita for the first time on Sunday, 10/23/2022 at around 12:25pm for a quick coffee pick me up as I headed down to San Diego. Manzanita is located on the corner of E Grand and S Juniper St. and fortunately, there was street parking available on the side so that was easy. I ordered my standard lavender Latte ($5.50) and both of the staff members who assisted me (cashier and barista who made the drinks) were quite warm and friendly. My latte was made with care and had enough espresso flavor. It wasn't too sweet and I enjoyed my drink on that cold day. The coffee shop is connected with a church and so restrooms were easily accessible. There were a few tables available and I liked how the whole side of the store was opened for air flow! Also, there was a steady flow of customers so it seemed like the store was quite popular. All in all, I'd come back if I was in the area again!

One of my favorite coffee spots in Escondido for its exceptional coffee and cozy atmosphere, but the service really holds it back. The coffee is flavorful and far better than any chain around, and their egg sandwiches with your choice of protein are always a satisfying choice. The ambiance is the highlight--warm and inviting. However, the service is noticeably cold, and at times, almost rude. I've had multiple experiences where certain baristas don't acknowledge you, won't greet you, and barely engage, which makes ordering feel like an unwelcome interaction. It's frustrating because other local shops set a much friendlier standard. Though I often order online to avoid this issue, it's disappointing that the service can make such a good place feel less enjoyable. If the service matched the quality of the coffee and food, this would be a top-tier spot. They also keep forgetting to put oatmilk in my drink which I pay a dollar more and am too busy to notice until I leave the shop

I used to come to manzanita often! This was my favorite spot and I always shared the location with friends and colleagues. I've stopped going to this coffee shop because it doesn't feel as inviting or welcoming anymore. a lot of the new workers do not seem to have a good time there.. unless talking to one another interrupted by a customer. I went in to grab a coffee this morning, and was not even greeted by the employee (no one else was there). As i left with my drink, I noticed there was a hair in my drink.. which means I had to toss a coffee I just paid for. So I was not greeted with a hello and couldn't even drink the coffee I purchased.. it's just not an inviting space anymore.

The barista was pretty rude, lacked personality. Made me feel like I was bothering him with my presence. Definitely did not make me want to ever visit again. I ordered a chai latte with oat milk. It tasted like water and lacked any real flavor.

An update to my previous review! This place is STILL amazing. The coffee, the service, and the vibe. I have spent many days and countless hours working from their lobby and impressed every time. Never had an issue or concern in 3 years of being a customer.

The honey latte is so good. I only ordered it from here. We also get the avocado toast and the micro greens and pickled onion are a good addition. The location is cute and it's nice to see the hanging plants all around. Baristas are nice and they try to your order to you quickly

Came here to do some work away from home & was greeted by amazing staff, extensive beverage choices, and a myriad of outlets. The service was very helpful. The setting and vibe is chill with some nice people watching.

Still love coming here! They are officially out of the savory pies... they were the best! We got the protein bowl and breakfast sandwich this time around. The breakfast sandwich hits the spot, not much to brag about. The protein bowl is absolutely delicious! The pickled onions add the perfect zing to the eggs, bacon and cheddar.

This place is a vibe! Very Earthy, green and open. Located at the beginning of grand you don't wanna miss this place! Super cute hole in the wall coffee place. The menu is simple and affordable and the service and staff were very friendly and were knowledgeable with recommendations. I got the brown butter coffee and the chocolate mocha recommended by the barista and both were very delicious! I also got to try their avocado toast and that was scrumptious! I really enjoyed the pickled red onion on top. Try this for your next coffee date

Average service. Dirty restrooms and no hand soap. This place was great in the beginning. Now they aren't attentive and you feel like you are a number and not a guest. Avocado toast is pretty good.
