Ma'ono - Review - Woodinville - Seattle - The Infatuation

"We’re big fans of the Nashville-esque chicken sandwich from this popular spot that now has a Woodinville location. Naturally, we’re thinking about scarfing down crispy poultry and kimchi mac salad before strolling over to the tasting rooms for a glass of something fancy. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Kayla Sager-Riley

Google
Really great fried chicken sandwich unlike anything I've had before. I loved the daikon radish and Hawaiian roll flavor combination with the spicy fried chicken filet. Super crispy and crunchy. Was going to split one with my wife but ended up just ordering another. The potato Mac was really nice and flavorful. The Mac and Kim cheese was wonderful and reminded me of some great kimchee fried rice I've had before. Be careful, the medium spicy is pretty hot. Think of Ezells spicy chicken x3. Fairly simple menu focusing on what they do best. Overall a nice experience and very fast service.

Google
This chicken is soooooooo juicy and crispy!!! We had chicken fingers and a chicken sandwich, mild, and fries. Everything was made fresh and tasted epic. So happy to have found this place! The only downside is that it felt pricy. We paid about $64 for the chicken fingers, sandwich, 2 fries, soda, and a cocktail.

Google
Great chicken place! My hungry teenage son was really impressed by fried chicken fingers with ranch and naked spice level. He gobbled it with great enjoyment. We don't eat spicy food, so I can't comment on the spicy levels at all. I tried a fried chicken sandwich, it was yummy and juicy. I like a clear and simple menu, easy to order and navigate.

Ma'Ono is open in Woodinville! Located in the vibrant wine district area not too far from Woodinville soccer fields. Order up some delicious fried chicken for dine-in or take out! Just as good tasting as the U Village location. They will eventually have one flavor of Rachel's ginger beer on tap, so stay tuned! Cocktails available now. Plenty of seating with nice decor. The three piece had BIG pieces, enjoyed some the next day too, good on the reheat in the air fryer. Hint- gets lots of napkins! And medium heat is spicy!

Chickens are burnt and taste burnt. It seems that they use too old frying oil.

Google
Their chicken is so delicious! We’ve been here multiple times and every time our food always tastes the same, unlike other restaurants when you go back, it can either be too salty, not enough seasoning, etc. so I love how consistent they are and it always blows my mind how good it is.

OH MY GAWD!! I did such a happy dance when I heard they had opened and I had to control myself and not run out the house to get some CHICKEN SANDO'S guuuuyyyyyssss. Ok so we’ve been to both Maono in U village and their now closed restaurant in West Seattle, the sandwiches are YUMMY! I will say that the chicken seemed smaller than before (the patty would usually be struggling to fit the bread 🤣🤣 so we had the naked sandwiches 5/5 all the way the Broccoli Salad was so yum and well and man I could order the kimchi Mac and Cheese over and over ugh so freakin yummy!! Oh so they offer this new thing where they dip it in lard, you can absolutely ask for no lard and you’ll be good to go The guys at this place are super nice and the place is impeccably clean Love this place!

Google
Tried this place due to positive reviews from Instagram posting. Ordered the 3 piece Chicken drumstick. As you can see by the photo - Chicken is super crispy. For me, over deep fried to the point chicken drumsticks looks deep-fried burnt. It's like the oil has been turned around with deep fried chicken over and over. Maybe its me...I don't know. I really tried to enjoy it but man, that chicken was just over deep fried-burnt. Staff are friendly. Really wanted to like this place.

Yelp
Yes yes yes yes!!!! My hubby grew up in Hawaii and has always been on the hunt for the food! This is the first place he said made him feel back at home! We got the naked and medium (beware! Medium don't play!) chicken sandwiches a d they were the best ever! The picked diakon was refreshing and hit the spot! We tried the broccoli salad, potato salad and we loved them both! Then I saw that they have Kimcheese sauce so I went back and ordered the kimcheese and fries and saw the big macadamia nut coconut cookie and had to get it for good measure! Will be back and will sit this time because the jams playing were hitting the spot and wanna try the cocktails next! So glad this is next to my nail place and it will be hard to pass up now walking by!

Yelp
Been here twice and both experiences have been great. I have had the spicy chicken sandwich and now the chicken tenders. Very good white meat and the three tenders will fill you up! The kim chi Mac was okay. Our favorite is the potato Mac. My wife had the non-meat chicken Pattie option and she liked her sandwich! We will definitely continue to come back!

Yelp
Ordered via DoorDash and have to say that their burger does not get soggy like other burgers do when you do an online delivery. The taste was great and for a change my wife liked a burger. Will definitely order again. P.S. I had eaten at their SLU branch and have been waiting to eat again since.

Yelp
My friend and I came in around 4 pm on a Friday and it was great. Several people were there even though it wasn't really a normal meal time. You order at the counter, the employees were friendly and helpful. They give you a number then bring your food to the table. I got the chicken tenders with sides of fries and mac and kimcheese. My friend got the sandwich with cucumbers and potato salad. We both got the hot spice level. The chicken tenders were huge- I could only eat 1 so I have 1 or 2 more meals. We realized the sandwich is made out of one chicken tender so if you're looking for the best value, seems like you get a lot more chicken out of the tenders than the sandwich. We loved the flavors and all of the sides. The only thing we didn't really like were the margaritas. They are premade and just okay for the price. Would skip this next time and just get a beer.

Yelp
I always love Ma'ono- this is one of my favorite sandwiches in the city. I'm super glad to see they're expanding north!! The location is great, small but plenty of tables and the chicken is fried fresh. Service is always friendly! We went on a weekday when they were empty and got some of the freshest food ever. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Came in to the new Ma'ono location in Woodinville for dinner ahead of a movie. I opted for the chicken sandwich, hot (not the triple hot) which was just the perfect heat level, right around Nashville hot. I either took a bite before the picture to better show the size of the chicken patty, or because I was too hungry to wait. Been a big fan of this operation all the way back to Spring Hill in West Seattle. They only do things one way, excellent. Out the door for under $20, no beer for dry January which helps keep the tab down.

Yelp
Overall, a yummy meal with very generous portions! We got the sandwich and the tenders. The tenders were HUGE and juicy! We got them with zero spice and a side of ranch. I really liked their ranch! The medium spice level was perfect for me on the sandwich. Delicious mayo and daikon pickles! For a side, we tried the kimchi mac and cheese. Very creamy and rich! The counter service was professional and quick. Downside- they do not accept cash and the music inside was quite loud.

Yelp
I have been wanting to try Ma'ono Fried Chicken since they opened. I got the Fried Chicken Drumsticks, with Kalbi sauce, and fries. I went with HOT for my Fried Chicken Drumsticks, and loved the spice. The spicy fried chicken was great, loved the Kalbi sauce with it. The fries were very good.

Yelp
I mean it's good and all, but $15 for just a chicken sandwich by itself is pretty stupid. The price feels more like they're trying to uphold an image than it does offering a premium-quality meal. Feels like their profit margin is the thickness of a phone book, or the cost of running the place is through the roof. Either way, yikes. I placed an online order, and when I went in the place was completely empty, both customers and employees, with my order sitting on the counter. So yeah, $15 for a basic (but tasty, to be sure) chicken sandwich, and a complete N/A on the service. ‍

Yelp
Good chicken sandwich. Thick piece of chicken . Nice sauce on the chicken. But both the chicken and fries were greasy. This is the reason I am giving the place 4 stars instead of 5 stars.

Yelp
A new Fried Chicken joint in Woodinville. It took over the spot that used to be Lifted Taco. I miss Lifted Taco but Ma'ono Fried Chicken is a great replacement and I'm happy about it. I got a "medium" fried chicken sandwich and it wasn't too hot, but I think the next one up (habanero) might be too much for me. It was delicious! I would get extra mayo next time. Can't wait for the drinks on tap and getting Rachel's guava Ginger beer up here!

Andy K.

Yelp
Fantastic food and service. The person who took our order did a great job explaining the food and was patient while we choose. We didn't feel rushed when choosing and that was a big plus.

Yelp
Great fried chicken and beverages since they team up with Rachel's ginger beer in most if not all locations in Seattle. It's right across from Amazon offices downtown so great quick grab if you are in a rush. There is also a food truck next to it which serves pretty much the same menu so not sure if that's a great idea to pick one of them. I've tried both and still think maono's to be superior in taste and ambience for sure. Service is usually pretty quick and seamless.

Yelp
Best hot chicken sandwich in Seattle and I eat a lot of hot chicken sandwich sandwiches

Yelp
Beware! Not PNW-spicy, but actual spicy. Got hot spiciness level, and it's pretty close to what I'm used to as spicy. You can actually taste the cayenne, unlike at some other chicken joints around. Still tastes like it's mixed with pure capsaicin though. Fries are good, but maybe a little heavy on the MSG -- about as much as Chick-fil-a uses, maybe slightly more. I know it's not Nashville chicken, but it's actually fairly close. Instead of normal pickles, it was crinkle cut pickled daikon. Personally, I like these more than normal pickles, but your mileage may vary. Also, again, since it's not Nashville chicken, there's no honey. Not a deal breaker, but it doesn't 100% hit the same craving. Good price for the amount of food, about $10 for 3 medium-large strips. Inside was fancier than I expected. Feels like maybe it'd do better further south in a heavier foot traffic area, like Totem Lake.

Luke W.

Yelp
Paying $17 after tax for a chicken sandwich which was good but not even close to that best that I have had and it does not come with fries. Your meal would be $22 for a chicken sandwich with fries, if I am paying that price it should be the best chicken sandwich however it is completely outdone by others.

Yelp
Hubby and I came here on a Saturday night to give it a try ... we placed our orders and then proceeded to find a table. A female employee told us we were not allowed to eat inside because they close in 15 mins. It was 8:45, hours say they're open until 9:00. She said we could eat outside ... in the pouring rain. No thanks. We won't be back.

Yelp
Food is delicious! Staff is friendly! The atmosphere was fun and relaxed! we definitely will be coming back!

Yelp
REALLY delicious chicken sandwiches!!! Super fresh and very generously portioned chicken. (They're pretty huge.) Nice spice options, buttery bun, fresh pickles. The fries are a bit too salty (and that's coming from someone who loves salt and seasoning) but seriously the chicken is amazing.

Katie S.

Yelp
A calming ambiance, just like Ohana should be. They are just getting started in a new location in Woodinville. We have enjoyed many delicious meals in other locations. Come and enjoy this Hawaiian style chicken with your family just like we have. Don't wait so this place can be great! Mahalo!

Scott T.

Yelp
When I paid $15 for a chicken sandwich (that didn't even include a side!) I was at least expecting a gourmet mind-blowing state of the art sandwich. But it was basically a fast-food chicken sandwich slapped together and served on a plastic tray. C'mon man, get real! And for an in-person transaction to dine in the restaurant, they didn't accept U.S. cash currency -- who do they think they are!? I'm generally easy-going, I've never written a yelp review for anything and will just boycott places if it doesn't go well. But I was too disgusted by this experience to not report it. I left that placed feeling robbed. Overpriced! Terrible quality! Offensive!

David S.

Yelp
Been here 3 times now and the first visit was awesome. Chicken was juicy and sandwich had a lot of flavor. The last 2 visits have been vastly different. Instead of getting a full size chicken breast on my sandwich I received a dried out small chicken strip that covered about 1/3 of the bun. Most of my bun I just tore off and threw away. Won't be going back here.

A P.

Yelp
The food is great! So tasty! I had the sliders and it was the perfect size for me! Fries and Mac salad were good! We will be back!

Keith L.

Yelp
Outstanding chicken tenders! We love them and we keep going back. Get the hot honey mustard as your dipping sauce. It's unique and very good. Medium heat is ideal if you like a little heat. We tried the Hot heat once and thought it was a little over top on the heat level. Mild is for our North Westerners friends palettes. :) We haven't tried the chicken sandwich but when we do I'll post the results.

Yelp
We've been looking forward to trying this place for lunch. Given the Hawaiian theme, we were looking for that fun vibe when we went in, and it was nowhere to be found. My wife and I ordered two chicken sandwiches, shared an order of fries and two cans of diet coke...$60 with a tip. What each of us got was not a $30 meal. The sandwich was very tasty but small and the fries were good too. I feel bad for them that their cost of doing business must be through the roof, and I know that they have to do charge what's necessary to stay in biz. It just won't be a place that we will be willing to frequent.
