Best Places to Get Hawaiian Food for Takeout and Delivery in Seattle - Eater Seattle

"Despite the pandemic and the West Seattle bridge closure, this fried chicken specialist is now open again for takeout only. Items include the popular fried birds (available on toasted Hawaiian rolls), mac n’ kimcheese, triple garlic fried rice, spam musubi, and whole banana cream pies. Delivery available through Caviar." - Eater Staff

10 Seattle Dishes That Became Stars in 2019 - Eater Seattle

"This was the year fast food fans went bonkers for fried chicken sandwiches, thanks in part to all the Popeyes hype. But Seattle has plenty of excellent local iterations that have been around for years — and Ma’aono in West Seattle may just be the crown jewel of them all. The prep alone on these birds is legendary, as they’re brined, dredged, and double-fried before being served up on toasted King’s Hawaiian buns." - Gabe Guarente

The sandwiches are amazing always 5 stars… however the lack of fries is criminal. For 25$ I should be getting more than a handful of French fries and shouldn’t be hungry every time I leave this place. I’m always torn on even coming for the sandwiches because I know I will leave hungry. They give you a little paper cup that is never full and it’s always a disappointment. I love the sandwiches I really do but between that and the sides being so small I don’t expect to be full for the price I am spending. Hope to see improvement but after being burned throughout the years by this and the fact spice scale has changed…I’m unsure I will return for another year… this location is amazing though to be fair.

I enjoyed my visit to Ma’ono. I’m not in West Seattle very often, but I found myself there on a Friday night and it was still open at 9pm so I visited. I’ve been to the window they have at U Village and enjoyed it, but had not yet visited the original location. There were a bunch of tables available as the main dinner rush was on its way out. When we left there were many more tables open. The restaurant does feel a little Hawaiian without being kitschy but overall it’s contemporary and rather dimly lit. The waitstaff were capable and helpful. I ended up sharing a mild spicy fried chicken sandwich, Ma’ono burger, and an order of fries. Everything tasted great. The fried chicken was moist and had a nice crust on it. The fries were tasty as well – nicely fried and not too greasy. My favorite item was the burger. The ground chuck had a deep beefy flavor and the toppings were tasty too. My favorite part of the burgers were the Hawaiian sweet roll buns. They’re similar to the one’s you’ll find in stores, but they are bigger to accommodate burgers. I had a good meal and would return.

During my recent visit to this restaurant, I was really looking forward to the dine-at-the-bar experience. Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the level of customer service I received. I decided to order the "loco moco" plate, which I saw on their online menu for pickup orders. However, when I asked the female bartender about it, she simply replied, "We don't have that here." I was surprised because it was clearly listed on their online menu. She didn't offer any explanation about the differences between online and bar orders, which left me feeling unsure about their menu and ordering process. This experience has made me hesitant to recommend this place to others, especially first-time visitors. It seems like their customer service might not meet the expected standards and could use some improvement. The overall impression I got was that of an "I just work here" attitude, which was disappointing.

This fried chicken sandwich shop is a standout! The chicken is always fresh, crispy, and bursting with flavor. Each sandwich is expertly crafted, offering a perfect balance of crunch and juiciness. The toppings complement the chicken well, adding even more taste. Friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere make it a top spot for a satisfying meal.

Too salty and there is no interaction with the restaurant. Was confusing from finding the entrance, ordering on the tablet to grabbing our table. The water ran out from the water jug. We had to eat spicy chicken without any water

Google
Great Hawaiian joint. The food has great presentation and the portions are decent. The lighting was a little dimmer than I like. The fried chicken is light and not greasy. I read a lot about the fatty saimin and looked forward to it, however, it was slightly disappointing. Although it had a great broth it was not bold enough. The taste is quite delicate compared to international chains such as Santouka or Danbo. The steak was absolutely delicious as it was cooked to perfection. The meat was tender and juicy. I would definitely go order it again and again.

Google
Nice restaurant that serves Hawaiian fusion dishes. Their most well known item is fried chicken, but be mindful that you need to reserve one in advance when you make a reservation. Breakfast includes dishes like loco moco and spam musubi in addition to the fried chicken. Great for families too.

I had their chicken sandwich, and it was delicious! The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside while remaining juicy on the inside. The seasoning was on point, and the toppings complemented the sandwich perfectly. On top of that, the customer service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and quick. Definitely a place I’ll be returning to!

Yelp
What a cool ma'ono location in a very surprisingly themed Benbow room. There are pinball machines, a couple more games, a full bar, disco ball, screens showing different genres of shows, a giant pirate statue, and the seating area looks like you're on a boat. There is A LOT happening here. You follow the signs to the kiosk to order food, you can order dine in or to go. But I mean, you have to stay for the vibes. Cucumber & wakame poke: this was the best side in my opinion! Super tasty and fresh, perfect side with the fried chicken Fries: my second favorite side. Perfect texture and very well seasoned Mac and kimcheese: wish there was more kimchi flavor and maybe some pieces in here, a little to thick on the cheese for me Fried chicken bun (medium spicy): great textures, perfect spice level for me, overall solid chicken sandooo Chicken fingers (hot): good crisp, pretty tendah, solid chicken choice Fried chicken drumsticks (medium): great crunch on the outer coating, well seasoned (as is everything here) and a good amount of meat!
