Maple Hall

I have gone to Maple to bowl or even for a drink dozens of times over the years. It is always such a fun time with friends, family or a date night. They even have a special upstairs “speakeasy” type feel with good atmosphere, sometimes music and excellent bartenders. After enjoying the staff and family so much I decided to rent it out for my birthday in Fall of 2024. This was a very fun birthday party. Most pictures and videos below are from the party, some are from years ago when we visited and had a great time too. Highly recommend going with family or friends for a great time! Make sure to get a nice Moscow mule.

Awesome little place to bowl right on gay street. The staff were all very nice and helpful, and everything was clean and tidy. The vibe of the place is really nice for a casual hangout, and the drinks were all pretty good. Would come again!

My family went here Sunday before Labor Day. It was a ton of fun and it wasn’t overly crowded. We had some great drinks. The fries were phenomenal!! It was family friendly too. We will definitely be going back.

We had our graduation party this weekend at Maple Hall and it was amazing. From the wait staff, to the food, the communications and ease of booking, it was all fabulous. They have many different space to rent. We rented out Heart of the Hall (area) - 5 lanes of bowling and a spacious area behind the lanes with 6 high top tables. It was Perfect for large group of 8 grads and all of their families. Forgot to take pics of the food, but it was really good. I wasnt sure if anyone would bowl, but it was a HUGE Hit. Would highly recommend this venue.

We just recently hosted our annual company Christmas party in The Maple Room and it was a blast! Such an easy atmosphere to host large groups -- with plenty of games on site to keep everyone entertained. Also, the food was delicious and the staff was so kind and attentive. We will definitely be back for more office events soon!

This is a really interesting place. The food/drink are superb. The bar on the ground level is beautiful, unique and their game nights are a blast

I visited some great spots in downtown Knoxville. Still, this one stole my heart - an underground bowling alley with old brick archways and original hardwood floors, showcasing the craftsmanship and culture of historic Knoxville. Great bowling alley with great local and national beer and food. Everything hit the spot. Swing by Maple Hall and enjoy!

Maple Hall was an AMAZING place for a rent out. We had our wedding Welcome Party there and the staff was great, the food was awesome and it was a great place where people could catch up and bowl. Thank you very much to Allison who helped coordinate it all. We loved it

I liked it. Great for small private parties. You can rent your own lanes in a room off to the side. We went there after a conference. The servers were kind and fairly prompt. We mostly drank and bowled, so I am not able to weigh in on the food. It was a fun time!

We came for a friend's birthday party. The food is just okay. The lanes are blocked off two at a time which is kind of nice so it gives you more of a secluded feel rather than sharing a party with the whole bowling alley. It's neat that is downtown, if the food was better might want to visit more often. As it is, it's just okay. There are closer bowling alleys to our house with better food. The pretzels and cheese are good, but they don't give you enough cheese so we had to order another side of cheese ($3 I believe) and by the time we got it, our pretzels were cold. They should just give you less pretzels or give you two small cups of cheese or a bigger bowl of it. The nachos were not great (I included a picture, the little bit of cheese you can see in the picture is literally all the cheese on them). The chips were hard (not crispy/crunchy hard, but stale hard). The stuff on top was not evenly dispersed and there wasn't much cheese on them either (not sure what's up with the lack of cheese here, but if you have to, just charge an extra $2-3 and give people more cheese). My husband liked the sandwich he got, and the kids liked the pretzels and cheese until the cheese ran out. The dessert pretzels were pretty good too. This place has potential. Maybe if they step up their food game it'll be 5 stars one day.

Visit to the Downtown entertainment district of Knoxville Tenn. with friends, This place is sophisticated cool & fun, decor of original bricks from this old multi level JCPenny building. We were fortunate to have private section & lanes upstairs. We ordered 4 plates off the menu, all were top notch. The service was just right, not forgotten, but not overly rushed either. To boot in the end all was reasonably price $200 for a night out with 4 friends, bowling, drinking & eating.

Absolutely love this place. Could go here and just hangout at the bar if you wanted, but the bowling makes it that much more fun. It has that underground feeling and I really like the vibe. The food and appetizers are always really good. Get the Moscow mule!

Maple Hall is such a fun place - bowling, good food & drinks, friendly staff and great atmosphere! What more could you ask for? Highly recommend Maple Hall.

Waited an hour, when the hour was up we were told we need to wait an hour before our lane is ready. The place is nice but I recommend going elsewhere.

The only place we've been to so far that can make a proper cosmo! We went to Maple Hall for a private event, it was great to bowl, play some of the games upstairs, or to hang out. There is a fantastic bar, the service was amazing, and the place is beautiful!

I loved maple hall when I visited! This bowling alley was classy, unique, and fun. I'd highly recommend going here if you're in the mood to bowl in Knoxville. I went here on a Thursday around 8pm. We had originally wanted to go on a Wednesday but the whole alley was closed for a private event... it wasn't super busy (there were a few empty lanes on either side of us). Our server still checked on us regularly during our time there, which was nice. Drinks prices were pretty reasonable here and it was ~$36 for 2 people.

Maple Hall is a really unique concept that blends bowling with a cool urban restaurant. It's a fusion of sorts. This isn't a typical bowling alley. Set inside a historic building on Gay Street (our main street in downtown Knoxville), Maple Hall retains the old exposed brick and loft-like finish. But, despite the old, its also pretty flashy and modern. They have brand new lanes with fancy touchscreen controls. Also, very clean, mid-century style furnishings and sleek style throughout. Simple put -- It's beautiful inside. I can't think of many bowling alleys where I'd actually consider eating a meal. But, Maple Hall is on that level. They have some very good options on the menu and the servers are as attentive as any restaurant. It's super easy to reserve a lane too. They even text you when it's ready if there's a wait. Aside from the bowling area, Maple Hall has some very nice dining and meeting areas. This would be a great place for a party or event. Overall: Great! Wonderful option for bowling or food. Highly recommended.

I was here a month ago for a yelp! event and really enjoyed it. I've been wanting to come back and finally did. This is such a cool space. The bowling area is awesome -- love the exposed brick, the layout of the lanes, the sofas, etc. The dining and lounge area is cool. The little upstairs bar might just become my favorite little hideaway haunt downtown. It was pushing 10:30pm when we popped in on a Saturday night. We grabbed spots at the end of the bar and settled in. The bartender was super cool, took great care of us. He even gave us a little education about the array of simple syrups that line the bar -- all made in house, by the way. I love it here and thing you will too. Until next time...

Great food and so much fun. Every time i am in Knoxville we go bowling and enjoy the awesome chicken tenders. Highly recommend!

Cozy space perfect for a date night. Drinks were made with little alcohol though so you'd benefit from drinking elsewhere unless they improve on that. Saw people gobble on the food so should be good though I haven't taken a bite. Not sure if they have vegan options.

I seriously love this place! Classy underground bowling alley where adults can grab some drinks and food from the bar and hang out. The service has always been great and the ambience is chill.

Food was great. Ambiance was nice, felt very cozy and personal. The service seemed slow due to being a bit understaffed, but the man who waited on us was so kind and personable. Would come again!

No creepy basement vibes here. This is one basement that I would love to hunker down in. They've made such a cool atmosphere with soft lighting, modern graphics and furniture, unique food and drinks, friendly/attentive staff, and of course you can get your bowl-on. Since we were on a rare date night and trying to fit in ALL.THE.THINGS. before relieving our babysitter, we only did an hour of bowling. However, we were able to fit in two full games as well as two shorter (5 frame, single-turn) games. That was one thing we both loved...the system allows you to choose from different types of games, if you so desire, with different screen graphics and goals. Neither of us are joining the PBA anytime soon with our under 100 scores (DOH!) but we sure did have a blast. It helps that the staff kept our booze glasses filled. ;-) It was pretty warm down there, so the Frose' was perfect and refreshing. My husband was happy to have his Angel's Envy bourbon available. Great time was had. We can't wait to come back with friends or even our kids. It is the type of place that could be great for dates or family/friend fun.

Awesome bougie bowling alley in the Knoxville underground! We hosted my sister's surprise birthday party here last month in the private party area you can rent at Maple Hall. This area has a lounge area with a couch and two sofa chairs, a high counter where the catering was set up with four bar stools, plus two couches and a coffee table in front of the two bowling lanes in the room. We ordered a variety of items from the Maple Hall catering. Everything was great but the fried pickles and mac & cheese where the big hits of the evening. We had a server assigned to our party, and we also could go right over to the bar to get drinks as needed. This was a great experience with great service and a really fun venue for our party. The alleys are very nice with a cool tech system for entering the names and even taking a photo of each player in your party. I can't wait to come back soon!

Super cool downstairs bowling alley. The acoustics are loud so it can be hard to talk to your friends without yelling but I love all the exposed brick. They have better than average bowling alley food and a full bar. The drink service was pretty bad and it took forever to even get water so I'm not sure I'd get any drinks from here after today but definitely a fun vibe

We held my husband's 50th birthday party there in the private 2 lane suite. The ambiance and atmosphere were perfect. We utilized the available catering. Highly recommend the pretzel bites and warm beer cheese! Our server was very attentive. My husband loved it!!

OK, I didn't bowl and didn't have a full meal but am reviewing based on the environment, the prices and service. First, it's a really nice space- lots of side rooms, open and very nice vibes. Bar in the center, tables around, 10 or 12 lanes in front, and group areas here and there. Comfortable, warm scene. Prices were reasonable for beer, craft cocktails and side dishes- I had two tasty craft cocktails and some kettle chips to snack on, all for just $23. Menu had burgers and other sandwiches, with good variety. I'll admit I sat a few minutes before approached by the bartender, even though I was the only person there at first. A small group came in after me and they got attention first. But when the young lady did come over to me she was pretty friendly and all food and drinks came at a good pace then. I had wanted to try out this place for years and glad I finally did. Good place to know about for a drink or food before/after theatre events etc.

Walking into this place was such a fun surprise! Walking down to the stairs you're greeted with the smell of cedar and the lights down low. Which creates such a fun vibe for a bowling alley. The bar has amazing cocktail options that are executed well. We also got the spicy chicken sandwich and it was great! Good food and drinks is not usually a staple at a bowling alley but this place elevates with their nice menu! My only complaint is our server hated her life. She would walk up to our area and just stand there in silence and look at us. And if we didn't specifically flag her down, she would walk away. She said maybe 2 words to us the whole 2 hours we were there. I even had to go get my own drink from the bar once and find someone else to pay when I was trying to leave. I know this is a college town, but let's hire staff that actually wants to be there and to work.

Such a cool place! Drinks, watching sports at the bar or bowling, you're going to have fun! I've heard about Maple but had never been. Brought my daughter, nieces and one of their friends while we were in town. Love the decor and set up. One of my friends commented on one of my pics that it looked like we were in a bowling alley in an upscale mansion. Exactly how I would describe it, but we were in downtown Knoxville, in the basement of a building and you would have never have guessed it. Bowling was great fun. $20 per person, per hour. Kinda on the expensive side but worth it. They do expect you to tip on the bowling. Weird but okay. We ordered some appetizers, loaded fries were amazing! Fried pickles were good. Shirley Temples for the non drinkers, I had a couple of drinks from the bar. The bartender was unsure how to make a few mixed drinks I asked of her, Crushes, Mules. Another strange thing. Overall, great time was had by all. We will definitely return when in the area.

What a cool spot by the square! 5/5 experience! I have went with my family as well as colleagues and have had a good time each and every time. The staff is always nice and accomodating from the front greeter all the way to the folks working on the lane equipment (when something gets stuck). The private lanes in the back are great for work and party events for about 10-12. Any more than that will leave some folks on the furniture and some in the lower area, which makes it tough to mingle about. Do make sure to plan ahead and either call in or go by early to see about times. Not a good idea to show up on busy evenings and think you'll just walk in and have a lane.

What a great meeting place either for couples, a group of friends, or a more structured private room in the heart of downtown. Maple Hall is a wonderful space at 414 S. Gay Street in Knoxville, TN. They feature a fully stocked bar on both levels and the downstairs features a bowling alley. Upstairs is the private room available for private parties, business meetings, or lunch and learns. The food was excellent and the wait staff did a wonderful job catering to our every need.

Where do I even start?? Maple Hall was the best bowling alley I've ever been to. It was so clean! And I don't think I've ever used the word clean to describe a bowling alley! The upstairs lounge was unfortunately closed when we got there and I didn't order any food but I hope to be able to do both next time! My family an I stopped by after a dinner downtown and grabbed some drinks at the bar and waited for a lane. The staff was so accommodating and nice. We were the last group to go that night and they gave us extra time at the end so we could finish. My parents and I haven't had that much fun in a long time! Thank you maple hall for such a great experience!

Love this place! Maple Hall is more than just a bowling alley it's a whole experience!! From the private banquet room to the nice and cozy alleys Maple Hall is top notch. Their appetizers and food was good and a nice variety of choices. Drinks were good and plenty of choices as well. My shoes were even nice! Imagine that nice bowling shoes! Bam you get them here. Service a solid 5... cleanliness a 5.. experience bonus stars. Get you self to maple hall and bring your friendship. Y'all are gonna have a blast!

Such a fun atmosphere for a family night out/date night. We enjoyed our time at Maple Hall. Food - 8/10. The food was pretty good. My only drawback was that they don't warn you how hot the Nashville hot is. A server told us that they are suppose to warn you. WAY HOT. Environment- 10/10. We loved it. Super cool and chic. Modern Farmhouse vibes. Everything was clean. The staff was super accommodating. We will definitely return!

This establishment went above and beyond for my group of five with two kids at 9:30pm. They were polite and accommodating, did more to make us comfortable for our quick stay than any establishment I have ever been too' they never made us feel rushed or uncomfortable and I cannot say how much that was appreciated! I highly suggest this establishment at anytime!

What an awesome spot for bowling, drinks, and food! We were able to have our own private two lanes and I just loved the ambience of this bowling alley! We just ordered appetizers of fried pickles, a charcuterie plate, and pretzel bites with cheese. All were so yummy! Our waiter was very attentive as well. Had a ton of fun bowling, just wish they had more lighter balls with the wider holes.

We had a work outing here. It was fun, the service was attentive, and the facility itself was well-appointed and very clean. I do recommend it!

I came here for a private event on the second floor. From the outside to the inside I was impressed with the super coolness factor of the bar/bowling alley. Location is downtown Knoxville. Parking off street by meter. They enforce meters, a friend got a $11 ticket. The exterior is light brick in an old building. A beautiful circular glass window is in front. Upon entering a hostess was upfront. The joint has two levels. A bar and bowling alleys downstairs and a private event room with bar and TV upstairs. Maple Hall is the Top Golf of Bowling. Plush couches and bar service to your seat. I did not partake in a game. But it looked really cool. There are a few private areas and even one alley that is private. The staff was friendly and service was prompt when ordering a beer and a quesadilla at the event. The food came to the table within 15 minutes and was hot. The appetizer was delicious and filling. I would absolutely recommend them, especially for a group event.

Had a blast with the family. Very friendly atmosphere and staff. Just a chill place and ton of fun. We will be going back.

Double date night! What a fun place to hang out. Was a Saturday night so the wait was long (mental note: make reservations next time). Nice bar area for waiting. It's in an old converted building with a old city vibe. Upscale but casual.

VERY COOL PLACE, great environment, superb service, terrific food and drinks; however the plastic laminate floors are NOT safe for bowling because one cannot slide upon delivering the ball. CAUTION watch your knees because the STICKIE FLOORS are not forgiving. Pro pens, pen setup, ball return, ball and shoes, and score board are there. LOVE the place; but NO PLACE for serious bowling. Bring in the WOOD PLANKS and add to better fun!!!

Love the atmosphere here! Vivid food and drink menu. This place a has a far elevated feel compared to a typical bowling alley. The waiter is attentive.

What else can I saw about a location that has both bowling lanes that are functional and even some in provate areas for provate parties and good food and good cocktails. When you enter this underground facility, you see the fresh and lightly colored lanes strewn throughout the bar with the lights from the monitors from the scoring systems. Then you enter into the belly of the bar and you will see a full rounded bar and many tables and some somfy couches for people to relax and spend time with friends and/or family. The place has a hipster vibe with a fun and flare of new wave feel. I think they have a definite gold mine and charming place here and I definitely recommend it for anyone looing for somethingdifferent in downtown Knoxville.

Maple Hall has an amazing bowling alley down stairs with a full bar. The Bowling Alley is really fun and its not over crowed on the weekends. Maple Hall has two bowling alleys and each side for families and friends. Most of all they have the best chefs, working in the Maple Hall Kitchen. My Youngest son had the made from scratch hand breaded chicken tenders with hand cut French fries with maple mustard.

I was staying in the new Hyatt just a few blocks down the street, and got in late, around 11:30 PM on a Tuesday night. Wandered down the block looking for a late dinner (I had come from the West Coast), and saw this place was still open. A little confusing from the street as there was a host stand near the doors, but it was unmanned, and wasn't clear that the place was open. Lights were on and the doors were opened, so I wandered in and then down the stairs. After a long afternoon/evening of a travel, the bar was a welcome site. I asked the bartender if the kitchen was still open, and he said he wasn't sure and had to check. I ordered the spicy chicken and an IPA, a little before midnight. I was a little surprised when the bartender mentioned that he'd be doing last call soon (it was a little before midnight), and that he could put another drink order in for me, but whatever. In any case, after I'd taken care of getting a drink and some food ordered, I got a chance to actually look at the place. Square island bar with with pre-cast concrete counter tops, 8 bowling lanes towards the back, split into two groups of four, and probably 4 or 5 groups of leather, mid-century modern couches and chairs scattered around the large space. Definitely quiet late on a Tuesday night (maybe 4 other customers in the space, with just as much staff and their friends hanging around), but seemed like it could be a nice spot to hang out, whether you wanted an activity or just some quiet nooks to drink with friends. Nothing special about either the food nor the beer, but they were fairly priced for what they were. Fair prices, decent food and drink, and a pretty cool atmosphere. Definitely somewhere I could see myself hanging out if had been in Knoxville longer.

Such a cool spot, loved this little bowling alley, it had such character, we had lots of fun on a saturday night, but be sure you go and put your name down during the day they only take day of reservations

Amazing ! New to the area our family loves to bowl. Every employee we encountered was amazing and friendly. Family friendly but also very swanky cool vibe for young hip people to hang out and have some great drinks and bowl or just lounge on a sofa and chat!

i came here for a work bowling tournament. This place is super cute. Great, warm atmosphere. Exposed brick and lots of wood. Nice drink list and food choices. Service was a little spotty, but we were a loud and chaotic group, outside their normal work hours. I had a blast and will definitely return. Two or three minor notes. The jokes that run on the screen were annoying and one was kind of racist. Our lane had a persistent pin glitch that kept giving people a bonus pin. Drink prices were on the high end.

Located in the historic J.C. Penney building in the heart of downtown Knoxville, The Parlor at Maple Hall offers a classy lounge experience that's subtly tucked in away from the chaos of Gay street. You can either enter from the bowling alley below or from the patio entrance in the back, you get the vibe as soon as you walk in the door. It's similar to the vibe at Maple Hall, but a hell of a lot quieter! Lots of comfy couches adorn the room, along with large tables that have stacks of board games. It's a perfect date night spot. They event have giant magnetic scrabble on the walls. So great! There is also a projector in the middle of the room that plays movies on the wall. Their full menu is available until 12:30am, which is amazing because it's hard to find late night food in Knoxville and the menu at Maple Hall is DELISH! Their drink menu is only available at The Parlor. While you can order drinks from Maple Hall, you can't order drinks from The Parlor once you go down those stairs. Their house cocktails all have locally themed names. So Knoxville. So cute. Tip: The Promenade Garage offers free parking after six and is a perfect spot to park for Maple Hall, the Parlor or any of the businesses along that block.

Tonight was our first time here. Loved it and will definitely be back! Pat is an awesome server along with the guy at the front door and the guy running the shoes and payment area. This place is so cool and fun. We had a great family night here!

Love Maple Hall although have never bowled here. Nice laid back vibe and the staff are attentive and friendly. Nice lounge upstairs too. Only negative, sometimes the music is too loud in the basement lounge.

This was an interesting place it's underground bowling alley. On top of the bowling alley is condos. It was 80° outside and ,going underground it felt at least 20° cooler ,The lanes were full of people about 8 o'clock at night they also had separate rooms for parties and have little nook where are you can have private get together. A full liquor bar, and also they had a large selection of food on the menu was very unique we were very impressed with it. The prices were moderate about $5 to &12 for snacks. Beers 5 & 6 Wines a little more .

Have you ever wished that rather than having to drive to the outskirts of town to go bowling, that maybe... just maybe there could be a bowling alley nestled right in the middle of your city's downtown? Maple Hall has got you covered! Have you ever wished that you could have well prepared cocktails, or maybe even a boozey slushy rather than the same domestic yellow beer options? Maple Hall has got you covered! Have you ever wondered why bowling alleys always have those bizarre vacuuform plastic seats that look like they came straight out of Logan's Run? Have you ever wished that rather than sitting on hard plastic with depressions for where your butt should go, that you'd have a nice soft couch where your butt actually SHOULD go? Maple Hall has got you covered! Totally stoked on Maple Hall. Should I ever make it back through Knoxville I will be adding this to my short list of places to visit!

We checked out The Parlor last night for the first time at a friend's invitation to celebrate a new job. I would never have guessed this cute space was above the bowling alley! I loved the comfy couches and the scrabble board! Drinks were great though the food was too pricey for what we got (collectively tried a philly cheesesteak, pretzel bites, fries, and steak skewers). The steak was very fatty, the cheesesteak was OK but wouldn't pay $9 for it again. Will definitely return for drinks and games! Very fun that they also have a patio on the back with easy access to Cruze Farm or the Pharmacy :-)
