An absolutely magical experience. We were fortunate to visit at the start of the rainy season and witnessed the remarkable transformation of a dry yet beautiful National Park into a lush green oasis, bursting with new life brought by the rains. Rivers that had long stood still began to flow once again, restoring vitality to the landscape. Beyond the awe-inspiring elephant herds, the park offers so much more—majestic baobab trees scattered across the terrain, remnants of historic SANDF bunkers, and breathtaking views of valleys adorned with these ancient giants. Adding to the experience, the stunning architecture of the park’s restaurant and museum creates a perfect blend of nature and culture. This is truly an unforgettable destination, and we highly recommend adding it to your bucket list.

Loekwe camp site was amazing. Some of the roads not so great The forest tented camp site was lovely. Unfortunately we could not go to the bird hide as it had been damaged in the rains Overall enjoyed my stay

Our first visit to Mapungubwe was amazing. As n birder I was disappointed cause of the bird hide and Treetop Walk that is closed, but we were able to spot a lot of birds. The mountains and rocks were breathtaking, and the campsite is beautiful and quiet. The ablutions, washing up area and braais were cleaned daily with the friendliest staff. I will definitely visit again when the bird hide and Treetop Walk is back in operation.

Hi fellow campers, it's the first time that we have visited this Nature Reserve. Left Tshipise at 5 in the morning, and on our way +- 2km from the Reserves gate we came across a herd of Elephants crossing the road..awesome. We waited for the gate to open at 6:30 and started our game drive. Saw Elephants, Giraffe, Zebra, Impala and alot of different Bird species, like the Verreaux's Eagle and it's chick, Booted Eagle, Martial Eagle, Kori Bustard, Lilac-breasted Roller, Little Bee- eater, White-fronted Bee eater, just to name a few. The Mazhou Campsite is very isolated and far from a shopping center so stock up before you go. The Confluence lookout point is a nice place to have a Braai for breakfast or lunck at. Beautiful viewing from the different lookout points. However they must re- paint the sign boards as they faided. The Treetop bird hide is still closed. It was a nice outing.

There’s no network once you leave the reception area. So be ready for a no phone vacation because the reception area is a bit far from the different camp sites. DO NOT WITH A SMALL CAR!!

A magnificent National Park. Beautiful and unusual scenery. It is a pity that regular maintenance of the facilities is not being done. Worth a visit nevertheless.

Park is smaller, well worth a visit and therefore not so full. The rock formations are facinating .Vhembe camp totally on our own in the week . Weekends camps fill up .
