I had an awesome customer service experience at Mar-Lou with Linda during a big sale event. She helped me greatly with finding shoe styles and sizes. She was very easy to work with. Very personable. I appreciated a "no pressure" experience. She made it fun to shoe shop. I am delighted with my purchases, half of which I never would have found, had Linda not brought them to me. Great service, great prices, great shopping experience!

Well worth the trip from Avon. Staff was knowledgeable and helpful as I made two shoe purchases. Top quality, best brands for comfort and support. This store carries an amazing number of brands. Also carries travel bags and other specialized inventory.

I ordered an older version of a New Balance running shoe I love for a great sale price. I was so happy they still had my size and a nice color available. Mar-Lou was communicative and shipped them very quickly! I'll definitely buy running shoes from them again!

My family has been coming to Mar-Lou Shoes for generations. It is *the* place to find good orthopedic shoes in popular styles and shoes for those with larger than average feet. This is the best shoe store I have been to in a long time. Mindy did a fantastic job in helping me to find multiple pairs of shoes. I have wide feet and narrow heels so she spent over an hour providing me with different selections. I didn’t feel pressured to buy and I appreciated her patience.

Finding shoes can be difficult due to my extra wide feet. I was able to find shoes that fit properly in all directions thanks to the variety of sizes they carry. The staff is always kind and helpful. This time Kia helped me find new winter boots and slippers. Thanks very much.

Dan got me all set for my trip. I think it’s been over 40 years since I’ve been in a traditional sit-and-fit shoe store. Professional fittings like the one Dan provided today are rare anymore. Dan provided explanations and answered my questions. After Dan sized up my feet, he recommended dress shoes that will be perfect for what I’ll be wearing.

Friendly staff. Well stocked and clean. If you need shoes, you need to go here. Good promotions as well for multiple pairs.

I wish I could give 10 stars. Nathan was wonderful. He was incredibly patient & made all kinds of suggestions. I'm just sorry I left him with so many shoes to put back after only buying 3 of the dozens of shoes he showed me. I've been having terrible plantar fascittis pain for several weeks. I bought a pair of Allegria that had just come in. They were so new that I was the first person to try them in my size & the first to buy them. I put them on for the first time this morning & I can walk normally with very minimal pain. They are absolutely fantastic & well worth the money. This is after having to sit down to cut an onion last night because the pain was beyond belief after exercising.

I bought a pair of Johnston & Murphy oxfords for my husband from Mar-Lou Shoes online. My order was placed in the early evening on a Monday, the shoes shipped out the very next day and I received them (here in Southern California) by Saturday morning. Order arrived in great condition, shoes fit just fine! There was a lovely handwritten note on the invoice, thanking me for my purchase. I really love supporting family-owned businesses and am grateful for the gestures of appreciation (a personal note, cute stickers on the box, travel-size pumice stone) they demonstrate to their customers.

We were surprised and impressed by the quality and selection of shoes, and even more impressed by Dan's range of knowledge and his determination to find the right shoe to ease my wife's heel pain. We would highly recommend this store to anyone who works on their feet all day or has any kind of foot problem. All in all, it was a great experience and we will definitely be back!

We recently had the pleasure of shopping at Mar-Lou Shoes. The store is so well appointed and inviting. The displays, variety of shoes and beautiful accessories are exceptional. Then there is the outstanding staff. We can't say enough about the welcoming, truly helpful and extremely knowledgeable sales team. Everyone was great. Linda took care of us and was absolutely delightful. It is also great to support a locally owned business. We could not have asked for a better experience. We will definitely be back!

They know feet. My husband and myself went here to get walking shoes. I won't lie, my husband was iffy. But after he saw how knowledgeable our salesperson was- she was the manager- he totally agreed that this was the place to get shoes if your feet are less than perfect. A very sweet couple next to us said they had shopped at Walmart but her shoes just didn't work. So they were at Mar Lou. Listen, they are not cheap but they are the best.

I visited Cleveland when I was pregnant and nothing but sneakers fit my swollen feet. Thankfully they were able to fit me into boots and dress shoes as I was visiting in Cleveland for a wedding. Thanks for your help!

I have gone nowhere else to get shoes for my 'arisocratic foot' as a good- looking salesperson told this teenager, lamenting my size 11 AAAA foot !! That was many, many years ago at the original store at The Arcade on Euclid Ave. in downtown Cleveland. I cannot believe it's been over 50 years now! When a second store opened up on the East Side at Richmond Mall, 5 min. from our house, I was so excited! I could not only get shoes that really fit my feet, but they were stylish, well made AND I had choices!! And so close I could easily go shopping when home from college. FLATS, HEELS, WEDGES, TALL BOOTS, SHORT BOOTS, HIKING SHOES, DRESSY HEELS, SANDALS, SNEAKERS, SLIPPERS , YOU NAME IT..... I could now wear them! As my foot grew and changed, wearing orthotics 'forever' and now a short ankle brace on one foot, I STILL AM ABLE to find my size, that went to a 12AA, 12 B and now a13 B !! Since I have been living an hour away these past thirty years, I come in and MAKE A DAY OF IT ! Start early, say HI to my friendly salespersons that I have come to know, who greet me right away. I take time picking out 2 or more kinds of footwear, test out quite a variety, check around for accessories, any new items, then make my final selections. Afterwards I meet a family member for lunch, shop at other stores right down the street, then jump back on the freeway before rush hour ! Don't forget the December sale going on now, PLUS the July "Sidewalk Sale" inside the store. Get to know Mar Lou's Shoes and YOU will be FIT for LIFE!! ( pun intended) !!! KATHY S.

This shoe store is great! My wife and I walked in to just look, as we never find shoes in stores, so our expectations were very low. We don't find shoes in stores because we both have wide feet. We both had great service. I took advantage of a trunk show. The gentleman with the trunk show was very helpful. I found a pair of shoes that are super nice and so did my wife. That never happens! This store has true customer service. That is rare anymore. I need no other shoe store.

Because of some foot problems, I have a hard time finding shoes that fit, feel comfortable, and don't look orthopedic. This place carries a strong selection of high-quality casual and dress shoes for men and women, and the staff is outstanding: they listen, they offer suggestions, and they make adjustments (adding metatarsal pads, etc) to get the fit right. I actually hugged the young woman who waited on me the last time I shopped here! I live 250 miles away, but whenever I go to Cleveland I stop by.

I went to this shoe store for the first time today. I have really bad feet and am planning for a trip to Europe with cobblestone street. My lovely helper tried on maybe 12 pairs of shoes till we got the right ones. I spoke with other customers about their feet and discovered that many doctors reccomended this store. Excellent service.

This is a primarily WOMAN'S shoe store that specializes in size 9+. Hence, why a previous reviewer gave 2 stars for not being able to find a suitable pair of men's shoes. Marlou does carry a very limited selection of men's shoes, but it is by no means a men's shoe store. In short, this place is a godsend for me. I have spent my entire life dealing with too-small shoes and settling for "unisex" (i.e. men's) styles. I wear a 10-11 D-width and I have never found anything that actually fit other than flip flops and athletic shoes. I grew tired of going into shoe stores and saying "what's the largest size you offer? A 9-C? Yah, thanks..." If I did come across a pair that fit, they looked like granny shoes. At Marlou's, the biggest problem I have is trying to decide which of the 6 sweet looking pairs (that fit wonderfully) I'd like to take home with me. Marlou's offers a lot of large sizes in various widths. Lots of cool high-end European manufacturers. Don't expect to find cheap, stiff, manmade-upper Payless-type shoes. These babies have soft-as-butter leather. I have never before worn shoes that make me feel like I am walking on clouds. Ahhhh. This being said, be prepared to fork over some cash. The average price is $75 and up. They do run sales now and then. But just like one shouldn't skimp on a mattress, you shouldn't skimp on shoes. After all, look how much time you spend in them. There's nothing like a perfect-fitting well-manufactured shoe. Thank you, Marlou's!

My elderly aunt and I went shopping there today .She had been there before I had not. I was stunned by the rude and lack of help offered by the female staff. The man Nathan was good. I spent over $600 st the store on shoes and purses for the 2 of us and while 4 people were doing nothing we had to wait several minutes for anyone to check us out. Then she apparently had trouble doing that.no thank you when we were done.She just walked away. I never was treated like that at a shoe store. I will not be back.

I like shopping, but not for shoes. My experience here made it a bit more bearable. The sales staff is friendly when you enter, but not pushy and they do not hover over you or follow you around. The men's section is not very large but they had an okay selection of primarily New Balance trainers and Clark casual shoes - also being winter time they had a fair amount of boots. This is the kind of shoe store where you have to ask for every shoe you want to try on but the staff is pleasant and doesn't mind pulling out as many as you need. I ended up leaving with one pair of Clarks, in a wide actually. That's another good thing about this store - for their limited collection the amount of wides they have in stock is in high ratio. I'll definitely keep this place in mind to check back next season. For woman there are lots of boots, hats, bags and accessories so check it out. UPDATE: I have to update my review and lower my original 5 star rating. I went to return the pair of shoes I purchased because the back heel was very stiff and had caused the back of my heel pain. They told me they only have TEN day return policy and would only give me a store credit which for their small men's selection did not make me very happy. I will not be shopping here again and will probably just offer my mom the store credit because there is much more at this store for her as I've said from purses to shoes.

Does not live up to it's reputation. This place is advertised as having comfort shoes, and hard to fit sizes, but there was not a single pair of Men's dress shoes that worked. They seem to specialize in women's shoes, for medium size feet and have almost no selection of men's shoes at all.

Mar-Lou Shoes is the greatest. A family owned store, where customer service is great. I have a "unique" foot size and have to try on all shoes, simply since a size label rarely tells the whole story. During my last trip to Cleveland/Richmond, they had an enormous variety of shoes to try on, dozens in my size. The sales person was ever so patient. When I used to go to Nordstrom's, more than once the sales person would leave & take a break when they found out my size & I'd be sitting there whistling in the wind. Mar-Lou Shoes carries a great line of boots: Toe Warmers. Both the boots & Mar-Lou are worthy of you business. Many thanks!

I went here for the first time this weekend and spent more on pair of shoes than I have ever paid for a pair of shoes or for an outfit in my life, but I expect to wear these shoes for many years. I cannot not say enough good things about the staff or how I was treated. I have small foot, but I am a wide width and have trouble finding shoes. For the first time in my life I didn't hear "that doesn't come in your size". My sales lady even hugged me! I will go back for other shoes as I need them. This time was for a special occasion dress shoe, but I will go for sneakers when I need them.

I'm a long time shopper at Mar-Lou Shoes, I remember when they were located in Downtown Cleveland Arcade when it was called "Tall Girls". My Mom used loved going to this store I'm the third generation in my family that have been a faithful shopper at Mar-Lou Shoes. The reason for my comments today is because I'm fed up feeling upset and unwanted buy the sales team at Mar-Lou Shoes in Lyndhurst, Ohio. Years before you felt welcomed coming in the store the sales staff always would come up to you and say "Hello, how can I help you". For those that don't know about Mar-Lou Shoes they are known for having quality shoes and large sizes, yes they can be expensive but you know you will have quality shoes. Now its not the case, today I was will to pay for several pairs of shoes because I'm going on vacation but I had a rude clerk helping me by the name of Roseanne. She was negative didn't have a helpful attitude at all and she rushed me out the store because she didn't feel like going to look for any 12W shoes that I may like. I seen a pair I was interested in but she brought out the wrong color and just said sorry this is the wrong color but there's no brown pairs in storage. Usually the sales staff would bring several types of shoes for me to try on she didn't do ANYTHING. One other time I had another rude sales staff person she acted like she was too busy to answer any questions - but I did find some shoes I wanted. Basically today I had enough this store has going totally down when it comes to customer service to "certain" people. Today I said to the sales staff "this store has really changed" Roseanne said "yes, all the old staff have left, things do change. So basically she proved me CORRECT it has changed for the bad. Going home this evening I was tearing up because I thought about the years me going to Mar-Lou Shoes with my Mom sharing a mother daughter moment or with my Brother that was disable and needed a special pair of shoes due to his size-actually my brother got his second pair of shoes from Mar-Lou a month before he died in September 2017. It's so sad that Customer Service is died in the remaining stores, I disagree with how online stores are taking over but I kinda understand why its happening... People want to feel like they are welcomed when visiting a store, especially a customer that has history with family members going to this store and have wonderful memories of those visits. I want to tell the owners of Mar-Lou Shoes that they have lose a loyal customer. I would rather order my shoes ONLINE then be treated like a NOBODY when coming in your store. Buy the way I did buy a pair of shoes only because of your 80% sale today but I was willing to buy more but because of you sale staff ROSANNE I just left. By the way I still have leather boots my Mom brought me in your old Downtown location and I won't let them go because they remind me of what me and Mom shared together. I hope Mar-Lou Shoes gain its friendly spirit back, in this day and time we need people working that want to help others not just get a check.

I guess it depends on the day as to whether or not you get treated nicely at this shoe store. I was in there 3 different times. The first time was to do some research on a shoe I heard was super comfy. It wasn't great and I didn't have a ton of time . The lady was nice enough.. I came back the next day and had a very nice man helping me. I wanted to try on the same shoe again just to double check. He also brought quite a few styles of his suggestion based on my criteria. They were all nice but still not perfect for my foot or my needs. I went back today with more time in my schedule with great hopes of finding comfy and cute shoes for lots of walking. The lady was rude and basically told me that she was not going to "pull 20 pairs of shoes" for me. What does that even mean? I didn't ask her to see 20 styles! I went in there for an expert opinion and was made to feel like I was a major inconvenience to this woman (working on commission)...she had me pegged for some lady who was a waste of time because I wasn't buying. How off putting! The style I did end up purchasing is good but I honestly hated buying them from her. She had no advice to give about the style. Thank goodness for Amazon, Nordstrom and 1,000 other retailers that sell shoes..if these guys were the only game in town I would go barefoot. You are welcome for the sale rude lady! Enjoy your commission!

Not only was I dissatisfied with the services - poor fitting and bad return policy. I wrote an email to them thru their contact us page explaining the situation and got no reply. Think they probably have found the niche shopper and they have struck a balance with that group. Back to Nordstrom and New Balance for me. Not a great place to shop at all.
