"Knox Ave. adds yet another restaurant with the latest from Lombardi Concepts, the hospitality group behind Toulouse, Maison Chinoise, Bistro 31, and many more. This spot is a Latin-inspired seafood menu inside an absolutely massive space. It’s glitz, it’s glam, its pricey. Despite the recent kerfuffle over prep charges, it’s worth going for the seafood. Just monitor those margarita orders very closely." - Courtney E. Smith

I absolutely loved this place. Upscale feel and great presentation all around. When you walk in you’re met with a cool walkway to take pictures. The cocktails are crafted for taste and viewing pleasure. The food was delicious and the service was top-tier. Definitely an enjoyable outing.

We absolutely loved our experience. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere captivated us with its gorgeous decor that perfectly blends Tulum and Miami vibes. It’s the kind of place that feels both vibrant and relaxing. The service was impeccable. Our waiter was not only extremely knowledgeable about the menu but also about their sister restaurants and very attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed. It’s always a joy to have a server who can recommend dishes with such enthusiasm and expertise. Now, let's talk about the food! Every dish we tried was delicious. I was so excited to taste everything that I completely forgot to take pictures until we reached the dessert course. We genuinely can’t wait to return the next time we’re in Dallas. If you’re looking for a restaurant that combines stunning ambiance, outstanding service, and exceptional food, look no further than Mar y Sol. Highly recommend!

We came to eat here for our 5 year anniversary and we had an amazing time! Our server Adrian was phenomenal! He was very knowledgeable and super kind. I highly recommend requesting him if you go. The food was amazing and the restaurant itself is gorgeous!

We read some reviews on Google before our reservation and we almost had second thoughts, but we were glad we didn't. As mentioned by almost everyone, the AMBIANCE is absolutely amazing and the staff is super friendly - the restaurant is beautiful. Our server was super nice and very knowledgeable. We mentioned the "HIDDEN FEES" comments on google reviews and she cleared that up right away - needless to say we ordered drinks and there were absolutely NO EXTRA "PREP" CHARGES on our bill. The drinks were excellent. To start, we had the Empanadas and the Arepas... SO GOOD!! Then for dinner we had the Wood Fire Picana Steak and Steak & Mushroom Anticucho, for desert the Piña Colada Creme Brulee. All in all, everything was top notch!! We are definitely going back to try the Ribeye and the Seis Leches Cake.

Let me start by saying the ambiance is spectacular. The waiter was nice. Out of my 9 party table, I ordered my food first only to receive it last(40 minutes)after everyone had eaten. I ordered the salmon dinner, which was totally not worth waiting for, and it lacked flavor. Unlike my son-in-law chicken dinner that came with potatoes that was very salty. The drinks were ok. I liked the green tea shot very much. Don't order the queso unless you like greasy stiff cheese that got cold and hard fast. The chicken croquettes were delicious. The portions are too small for the price. When I told the waiter that I would be doing a review, he said, " Do what you gotta do." It was not my choice to come here as I was invited to a birthday dinner so I won't be back. And yes, I did read the reviews, so I knew what to expect, and I'll tell you they were all correct. The manager did comp my meal, but it didn't make up for my bad experience.

We had a wonderful dinner and experience. Our waiter, Valerie, was very kind and attentive. She went above and beyond!! I originally ordered the $33 steak. I don’t remember the name, but it was pretty mid and came out cold. Valerie was quick to offer me a new meal, so I ordered the shrimp tacos and they were wonderful!! 10/10!! We also got the cheese appetizer which was delicious and I highly recommend. My drink was fine, but my cappuccino was even better!

This place is amazing and we had such a great Valentine's Day dinner. ❤️ We started with the QUESO FUNDIDO. So good with the fresh homemade tortillas. Then we had the PARILLADA ARGENTINA which was a meat board with sirloin, filet, sausage and chicken served with trio of sauces and handmade tortillas. The sirloin and filet were perfect and I loved the flavor of the sausage. The sauces were delicious and a perfect pairing to the meat selection. For dessert we had the PINA COLADA CREME BRULEE. Delicious and the presentation was beautiful. The ambiance of the restaurant was romantic. The waiter was SO friendly and knowledgeable. He had great recommendations and seemed to really enjoy his job. He was very attentive and made the experience all together perfect. I wish I remembered his name. The only complaint I have was our 3 sauces didn't make it our to go container.

If you are looking for a place with a nice ambiance and just for drinks (shots or on the rocks) then you should definitely go there. All the cocktails we ordered was not great, the food was the biggest disappointment, AVOID any of their fish dishes, the Pescado Frito is basically fried fish bone for $68 same as the Red snapper for almost $80. The waiters are good but the management is terrible, imagine the manager eating a better plate of fish than what the guest was offered. Our total bill was $1100 and none of us was happy with our meals, complete waste of money.

Yelp
I dined here on January 17, 2025. Parking is free but limited. I made reservations and recommended getting them. The environment was intimate, relaxed with dim lights, and decorated with Latin influence similar to a cabana. The noise level was average as there were many people inside. They also had Latin music playing which I loved. It is a nice restaurant to take pictures in. They offer Latin American cuisine, I ordered: La Diabla - 6/10 Beautiful presentation, personally I didn't love the taste. Margarita de Oro - 10/10 Ordered two! Great sweet taste of lychee and very pretty. Yellowtail Ceviche - 9/10 Unique presentation. Sweet, savory and a hint of spicy flavor and pairs well with the plantain chips. Makes a great appetizer. Charred Tijuana Cesar - 10/10 A unique twist on a classic caesar salad. Very flavorful and enjoyed the toasted arbol chili croutons for a crunch. Argentinian Beef Empanadas - 8/10 Wouldn't eat the empanada itself but once you add the toppings it is absolutely delicious. Would have liked the empanadas to be fried or cooked harder as the breading was very soft and made it hard to hold and eat without it falling apart. Service was a 10/10. Our server was attentive, kind and patient. All dishes came out one after another in perfect timing. I would recommend Mar y Sol. I think it's perfect for date night or a girls night out. Yelp
I'm surprised about the mixed reviews. This place is amazing and we had such a great Valentine's Day dinner. We started with the QUESO FUNDIDO. The only complaint I had was the sauces didn't make it in our to-go container.

Yelp
Beef Empanadas - 5/10 Duck Flautas - 6/10, needs more sauce Queso Fundido - 10/10, SO GOOD Lomo Saltado - 10/10, unique twist on it but the sauce was amazing Wood Fire Picana Steak - 6/10, just a normal steak (medium rare), not super tender and chewy La Diabla - 8/10, Cute presentation, the drink was pretty good! Hibiscus Dragon - 7/10 Overall, it was a good date night spot and cute for pictures. I would recommend :)

Yelp
First review of 2025 goes to Mar Y Sol Cocina .. This place is all about ambiance, beginning with the entry corridor, Mar Y Sol Cocina atmosphere permeates chill & laid back. Whether date night, happy hour with friends, our business meeting, Mar Y Sol's dim lighting low-fi music allows you the opportunity to break bread yet still hold a conversation without screaming across the table. Visiting for a birthday party, restaurant midweek wasn't extremely busy, however still had a small evening dinner rush. Menu wise, the establishment has some exotic options however house speciality items such as an Argentinian meat platter, picana steak, or seafood options such as sea bass or snapper , there's enough for the fine dining experience or simple meal. Having just left South America, I opted away from steak choosing Seabass instead. Fairly priced, the meal decently portioned. The highlight was the Caribbean curry sauce. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. I'll definitely be back for another visit.

Yelp
Food was good. Decor and vibe is super dope. The drink with the fire is popular! Patatas bravas was wack, it was nothing like the Spanish version. The empanadas were good and the steak was pretty good. The side of chips were a nice touch. Service was nice with everyone well dressed. They had music with drummers that walked around you at around 10 or 11pm

Yelp
The aesthetic in here is so cute. There's def mirrors everywhere to take cute pics. For drinks we ordered the margarita and espresso martini. I didn't care for the espresso martini. I usually love them but the coffee itself was way too over powering. We got the empanadas for an app and they were so good and had so much flavor. For our meal we got the rib eye and another type of steak. Both were really good. The chimichurri sauce was so good and flavorful. We also got the papas which were decent. The service was great they had someone walking around playing music which was a nice touch to it.

Yelp
Good place for a dinner before night out, it's very instagramy, with great decor. Servers are nice and friendly and they have live music and show which is good. I wouldn't go here for the sole purpose to have great food but more for a great time. The food is 3.5/5. They do have some good options Great place to have drinks, the drinks are all nice and comes with a show We got Parilliada Argentina 4/5 Wood fired picana steak 4/5

Yelp
Booked a table for a group of 14 people over a month ago for this upcoming Saturday night. To book this large table I had more than one conversation with them so they clearly agreed to it. The restaurant cancelled my reservation today- 3 days before. The GM said he couldn't help it. Highly unprofessional experience. Didn't expect this from a Lombardi establishment. This has never happened to me before. Honestly there should be a setting for 0 stars.

Yelp
Fun place for birthdays, celebrations, and catching up with friends. Feels like you are walking into an adventure when you open the huge front door. It would be too loud for a group business dinner to be able to hear across the long table or for a cozy dinner conversation unless you sit on one of the outside seating areas. Drinks : our La Diabla cocktail with sparkling fire-lit wrap around was like a show as the server held it up and the Tiki cocktail adored with an orchid flower was sweet and good. More ice than alcohol was included. Food: warm fresh plantains served with a side of sauce was a nice nibble until our bowl of ceviche on smoldering dry ice smoke and beef empanadas arrived. The braised beef plate with roasted vegetables and blue corn tortillas was a hearty portion that the two of us had plenty to take home for lunch. The creme brulee served in a halved fresh pineapple adorned with a purple orchid was big enough for two. Ambiance: unique architectural arch of branches as you walk inside. Comfy chairs and pretty decor like you are outside in a cozy porch but inside. We had 5 pm Tuesday reservations and glad because the music was loud like club music overhead but we could still hear before the restaurant filled up after 6:30 pm. Service: excellent knowledge of the foods to recommend, attentive, and proactively checked in with us often, including the manager Valet parking only. We will come back again.

Yelp
Besito de Verano, Queso Fundido, Callo Ceviche, Seis Leches Pancakes I don't remember everything that was ordered, but this was INCREDIBLE. I truly do not understand the current state of the Yelp ratings as this place is truly phenomenal. This restaurant is brand new, and has one of the most beautiful interior ever. So spacious and airy and has resort vibes. The servers are so friendly and helpful. The drinks are delicious, and the food was outstanding. Every dish was made so well, so flavorful and unique. Favorites for me were the queso fundido and Scallops!

Yelp
We had a great evening that turned to crap because the chef precooked my steak twice and still couldn't get it right, but the manager (Ariel) really save our visit and meal for us. Firstly, we had a reservation andwere seated immediately when we arrived. Our waitress Dalia M. came over immediately to explain the menu, specials, and to take our drink orders. Our appetizer the steak and mushrooms came over within minutes and tasted awesome. The flavor of the radishes, and other ingredients in the rice was very good. For an entrée my wife had the Salmon and she really enjoyed enjoyed the cook and the flavor of the salmon. My entrée was the wood fired picana steak cooked medium, and it came as if the cow was still walking around and no were near a medium. The waitress talked to the mgr and they agree to have the steak reworked as I requested and were going to comp our dessert. When the steak returned the cow was still looking me in the face and saying what up now homie. I was upset and so was the manager who took the steak back and had a new entrée cooked as I requested. She did a great job and it really meant alot to my wife and I. She comped the meal and the dessert for our troubles. The final steak she delivered was awesome and with a great flavor. The pistachio terimasu for dessert was pure heaven and tasted awesome. We were there for over two hours, but the manager and waitress really did their best to ensure we had a good new years eve dinner. We plan to visit again and hopefully have a little better experience.

Yelp
I had been very excited to try this new restaurant as it received a lot of buzz when it opened. We made reservations to meet our couple friends for brunch yesterday. When we arrived, they were already seated in the patio area. First impression, the entry is visually stunning and very instagramable. The patio is lovely, but it was a hot day yesterday. We asked three times if they could turn on the ceiling fan above our table. However, for some reason, they were not able to get it working. So, it was very uncomfortable throughout the meal. Three of us were doing sober September, so we didn't order drinks. One of our group ordered the spicy mango margarita, which came with some weird fire presentation. (See the video included with my review.) The server lit steel wool on fire, and it didn't add anything to the experience. In fact, according to our friend, it made the glass too hot to pick up, and it also made the drink warm. Not sure the point! Now, let's talk about the food. I was very excited to try the arepas bendadict. I love a good arepa! Unfortunately, these were terrible, as were the oversized portion of inedible potatoes. The potatoes at the top of the plate were raw, and at the bottom of the plate, they were overcooked to the point of being hard as baseballs and crusty. Positively disgusting! The only saving grace on the plate were the perfectly cooked poached eggs. It was truly a disappointing experience overall. Expectations were high, but definitely not met.

Yelp
The ambiance of this restaurant is amazing as well as the service we received from our waitress and valet but it stops there. The table we were sat at was extremely small and it was hard to hear the person across from you due to the loud music. Additionally, there's only about 6 inches of space in between tables so it makes for a hard entry/exit. The primary issue is the food... it just wasn't good and I left hungry. The highlight was the guacamole molcajeteada. It tasted freshly made and had chips/plantain to accompany it. We ordered king crab causa and mushroom empanadas to share but they both fell short. The causa (cold dish) was extremely salty and empanadas were tasty with the chimichurri sauce dipped but eaten alone it resembled a hot pocket. I ordered the pollo a la brasa and it missed the mark. It didn't arrive as described on the menu (missing sugar snap peas) but had a bed of slaw covering the entire plate. The crispy potatoes were the only nice part along with my side of chimichurri sauce ($2 for small container) to pair with it. We ended with a desert of pina colada crème brûlée and it was awful. There was a bitter aftertaste and the custard wasn't set. My friend and I decided we won't go back due to this bad experience.

Ariana A.

Yelp
Great latin cuisine in an excellent atmosphere. Must try for Dallas. Service wasn't too good and is the only part of my experience I wish to change, it just felt like a money grab but the food definitely made up for it. We ordered the Pollo a La Brasa, Queso Fundido, Filet Mingon, and Cesar Salad everything blew our minds and our palates and we will definitely be returning in the near future hopefully with better more personable service.

Jasmin J.

Yelp
I had such a great time here. There was no wait but I do suggest getting a reservation. My friend and I only got the beef empanadas and some type of cheese dip. Our drinks were very entertaining as well as delicious. Would I get it again? No. There are so many other things to try out. Our server was very sweet. I definitely will be back for either a double date or a date, this is more of an expensive restaurant. There were a lot of people who couldn't find the door to the restaurant or the hostess because it's hidden, but I think that a sign or something or someone standing there would be very helpful. I will be back to give a further review on food some day in the future!

Nina F.

Yelp
Such a beautiful and comfortable setting for an upscale dinner. The service was very fast and everyone was friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely amazing especially for someone who doesn't eat much Latin American food! Highly recommend!

Hunter S.

Yelp
No! This is not the place on TikTok that charges a "prep fee" or "margarita shake fee." And just in case management doesn't make it through this long-ass review, MAX is amazing! Max is AWESOME! Anyone who has taken the quickest glance at my reviews knows I'm a New York woman. To me, Dallas is brown, hot, and flat; I only found myself here because of a business conference. But my meal at Mar Y Sol helped pull me away from all that and made me feel like I was in a metropolitan, cultured spot, maybe even in Latin America or Mexico. The inside portion is what you read about being so "instagrammable," but I was happy to sit on the shaded outside patio. There were ceiling fans and shades to keep things cool. I really enjoyed the alfresco feel. I skipped over appetizers and shareables (which includes multiple types of ceviche, empanadas, croquettes, shrimp, crab, arepas, and more). While there were many attractive entree options, including street tacos (short rib, de pollo, shrimp, mushroom), various iterations of steak (bone in prime filet, beef tenderloin, loco salted--beef tips, ribeye, wood fired picana steak). They also had fish--chilean sea bass, wood fired red snapper, pescado Frito, shrimp tallarine, banana leaf wrapped salmon. Sides: charred carrots, chiles toreados, esquites, crispy chimichurri potatoes, grilled broccolini, roasted mushrooms. I had the extravagant parillada Argentina, which is a 128 dollar dish composed of flame roasted sirloin, filet, sausage, and chicken, served with a trio of sauces and fluffy blue corn tortillas. WAAAAAAY too much for one person, but I don't regret trying it. Would be great to share with a guest. The cocktails are inventive and delicious. I had the Mandarina spa (Bombay sapphire, st. Germain, fresh pressed mandarin, lemon, honey, basil); el sabio (tres generasicones anejo, genepi, black pepper cord, dark cocoa bitters, palo Santo); and la diabla (herradura silver, mango, Yerba mate, lime, agave, aji Amarillo salt, served with a cool fire trick). They ranged from refreshing and delightful to wonderful, smoky sippers. For dessert, at the recommendation of the server, I had the chocolate cake, which was rich and decadent. After dessert, I had a few shots of pricey clase Azul, so savory and decadent, chased with orange slices. Had such a great experience here. MAX! My server, MAX, was amazing. He deserves all the flowers.

Yelp
We were insta-influenced but it didn't suck! Solid 8/10! Obviously it is beautiful inside and out! The whole vibe makes you feel like you should be in Cabo! The service was all very intentional which bumped my score up from a 7.5 to an 8! They walk you to the restroom, clear plates regularly, ensure they aren't speaking to their tables next to/over each other. It's really nice. The food I think speaks for itself! It is Peruvian so to all the Texans, don't think Tex Mex.... Fresh flavors, fabulous fish, exciting plating. Definitely a fun date or double date night spot!

Lauren L.

Yelp
I made a reservation for my birthday about a week in advance. When I came in to be seated I was surprised with an additional wait of a hour... what was the point of making a reservation then? They were only able to seat us outside. Decided to wait and the waiting area was extremely small with only one bench as as there were 7+ people in the waiting area. This area could definitely improve with an additional bench/waiting area. The service was mediocre- but the food and drinks were the highlight of our experience. Especially after some waiter stole the succulent and light from our table. Also, my friend went to the restroom and witnessed a worker not wash their hands after using their bathroom. Safe to say we will not be returning.

Yelp
Down a one-way street, you'll find a modest parking lot with a complimentary valet attendant stationed in the corner. It's easy to miss the entrance if you're not paying attention. As you turn the corner from the parking lot, you're immediately struck by a Narnia-like entrance that makes you question if you've left McKinney Avenue. Before you can second guess yourself, the host staff is there to greet you and confirm your reservations (which are recommended, at least through the rest of 2024). Stepping inside, you'll feel your blood pressure drop as you're surrounded by soothing earth and neutral pastel colors. It feels as though the tree of life itself has enveloped you, creating a world of its own. Once seated, you're welcomed with complimentary fried banana plantains and the standard chips and salsa--though these are particularly tasty and beautifully presented. Now, for the main event: the drinks and the food! The drinks are visually appealing, though I found the caipirinha a bit lacking. However, the Diabla drink was flavorful, albeit a bit sweet. We also tried a tiki-style drink with a milk-based popsicle inside; it was unique, tasting like a sorbet with a hint of booze. Not bad, but next time, I might opt for wine to pair with my meal. For appetizers, the Argentinian-inspired empanadas were delicious, filled with smoky brisket flavors that provided a bold and unique taste. The duck flautas were also flavorful, complemented by a nice sauce and garnished with queso fresco. For the main entrees: The Brazilian rump roast (picanha) was just okay, but that might be because we ordered it well done instead of medium. The standout in the meat category was the pork "lechón," a Caribbean-style dish served with potato purée and garnished with fava beans. It's very filling and might be considered shareable. Due to fish allergies at our table, I didn't try any seafood, but considering the restaurant's beach-themed concept, it's likely worth exploring. I'll be sure to update my review once I try the seafood. For dessert, we opted for the 6 leches cake. It was delicious, though surprisingly, parts of it were a bit dry, considering this type of cake should be moist with the amount of condensed milk and other dairy concoctions used. Other things to note: There are purse hooks at the bar for the ladies, coat and purse hook stands at each table, and the restroom is to your immediate left when entering the restaurant. There's also a patio, and I hope to see brunch offered in the future, along with their Friday evening live entertainment.

Melody V.

Yelp
This was a gorgeous restaurants, very aesthetically pleasing. You feel like you're having dinner on the beach in Tulum here. We were seated on the patio which was very warm until the sun went down. The servers were very knowledgable and walked us through the menu. We got the patatas Bravas, pulpo (octopus), queso to start. The potatoes were great, you can't go wrong with potatoes. The pulpo was good but pricey at $25-29 for a single tentacle. The got the lechon fried rice to split, which included a table side service where they mix the egg into the rice. This was a little salty for my taste and would be impossible to eat as a standalone dish. The cocktails were all great and had beautiful presentations. Overall this is a great spot for a date, or a group dinner. I would recommend splitting things family style here, some of the dish portions are very large and some are small. Edit: I changed my rating due to seeing an article about Mar Y Sol adding additional fees to cocktails, I went back to check our group receipt and sure enough there were multiple charges under cocktails including an additional $4.50 charge on a $17 pour of Angels Envy. This was not explained to us or pointed out by the waiter. This is still a great restaurant and I would come back but I also think transparency is the to a good relationship with your guest.

Emily G.

Yelp
To start, the ambiance was on point. If I was stopping by for a drink during the evening easy 4-5 stars. The food and dining is where I feel like it took a turn. Dallas is tough competition and good service really goes far. We had to ask for water refills and then only got one water glass at the table refilled. Apps and entrees were dropped at the same time. Now $24 for three tacos that were fairly basic, I am going to have some super high standards for the rest of the service. Would love to see how dinner here is in a couple of months when the initial rush has quieted a bit. Hopefully I can update this to five stars!

Trisha M.

Yelp
I am a little torn between 3 stars and 4 as 3.5 would be perfect. Ambiance - awesome! You feel transported into a different place and it's a nice escape from the Dallas life. Service - This is were things started off great, maybe too great where they were very attentive to where it became difficult to have a conversation without interruption. We did note that they were not too busy at that point. However, as time went on, and folks started to come in (never got packed though), service started to drop. Having drinks come out took well too long in my opinion (especially when it was fairly empty). We ordered the Cantarito (which serves 4-6) and felt like it took 45 minutes to receive. Definitely unusually long for a drink. At that, the gentleman actually took the cart to the wrong table to we missed out on the presentation of it with the smoke and all. Overall service declined as the evening went on. We refilled our own drinks (after them mentioning they would do it) and we were out of water and never refilled at the end. Food - overall, decent. We ordered a variety of items: - blue eye tuna ceviche - solid. this isn't something that you will rave about to your friends for being exceptional, but it was good - queso fundido with chorizo - sounded much more appetizing as the description in the menu than what was provided. This was definitely a disappointment - pulpo - probably the best item of the night and also a solid choice - sea bass - the fish itself was cooked great, however, the quinoa was pretty salty. The sauce with the fish was tasty but not enough - creme brulee - presentation on point and dessert itself was fairly decent. It could use a little more of the hardened caramelized sugar to add that crunch. - seis leches - this was okay and not one I would rave about as I have with other versions of tres leches (cuatro leches at the Mexican or cinco leches at Mesero are easily much better). Overall, the place is a vibe and the atmosphere is worth checking out. Note it will get a little loud as the evening goes on. Food wise, for what was spent, I would expect better. Service, unfortunately declined as the evening went on. Also, sadly nothing done for birthdays as it was repeated several times we had a birthday in the party but it was never acknowledged nor was any treat provided as with many places. Even the valet was unavailable when I arrived and after waiting 7 or so minutes in my vehicle, I just parked my car myself.

Cara W.

Yelp
Mar Y Sol was beautiful walking into. The decor was just stunning and the staff was very kind and seated me right away even though I was fifteen minutes early for my reservation and the rest of my party was not there yet. One thing I will say, is the staff was truly fantastic--when we were asking for recommendations, our server was very honest and told us not to get the croquetas because many people had disliked them for their dryness in the past. It was surprising, because I don't think I had anyone dissuade me from ordering food before when not asked, but I appreciate the advice nonetheless. The rest of the food I had included esquites, cod, and ceviche. They were all yummy, but nothing too too special. The drinks were good, so I definitely recommend saving space for one or two.

Ancelin G.

Yelp
Mar y sol was an exquisite dining experience. Other than the beautiful ambiance of the restaurant, the food and drinks were exceptional! The drink presentation was truly one of a kind, with a ring of fire around it. When I visited this restaurant, I ordered the Patatas bravas and the wood fired picana steak. Both were outstanding and had very tasty seasoning. I would definitely come back here!

Yelp
This restaurant is huge! Especially compared to all the others in the neighborhood. That being said, they only have two stalls in the women's restroom to service the entire place - poor design. Other than that, our service was great! We went for Sunday brunch. Food was delicious and we got a mix of sweet and savory. Drinks were also good but overpriced.

Yelp
Stopped by for drinks and apps before a night out. Beautifully decorated, very open space, that is meant for entertainment but it is so loud in here that you can't hear the people next to you. Could see this being a good place for a birthday/celebration but maybe wouldn't recommend for a date night (especially a first one). To eat, we went with the big eye crispy rice (spicy rocoto tuna, plantain, avocado, cilantro) and queso fundido (melted oaxaca cheese, served in a sizzling cast iron, roasted jalapeño, with house-made tortillas). The crispy rice was nothing to write home about, pretty typical from what you would expect from the dish. I was a big fan of the quest, it was presented in probably the most interesting way that I've seen. It was served in a cast iron skillet so it definitely diminishes the amount of queso that you would get compared to other places but it was still really good. To drink I got the La Coya (mur mur coconut rum, orgeat, watermelon, lime, local paleta) and I looooovvvveeedddd. The popsicle that's included made the drink so fun and the flavors mix well together. Note: Valet parking available

Yelp
The food is fine, but the service is incredibly slow and sub par. The space is beautiful, but I would not return.

Yelp
Oh jeez, where do we start. This place is like a candy in a pretty wrapper but spoiled inside. So let's start with good: valet parking and service Everything else just terrible. Food less than mediocre, we ordered king crab and it was super salted, my brisket with rice was just rice. Mushroom empanadas were super bland and THE WORST was dessert, we ordered crème brûlée and it was bitter! with awful aftertaste. But nope that's not the part that made me put one star. The worst experience came with check they charged me 2$! For chimichuri sauce andddd the amount on a check is listed as cash and non-cash so they charge you the fee for transaction and that would be fine but how about let me know before hand?! I am very upset with experience and definitely will not be returning

Yelp
The perfect spot for drinks and vibes, but sadly, the food is lacking. If you're expecting an incredible meal I would look elsewhere, but if your goal is some instagram pictures with nicely mixed cocktails I think Mar y Sol fits the bill.

Yelp
A place that makes you feel like you're dining at a luxury getaway. Beautiful restaurant. Our waiter was incredible. He offered great suggestions and was well versed in the cuisine. Appetizers we tried were pozole, crispy rice and beef empanadas. Pozole presentation was amazing, fresh tuna was delicious and we LOVED the empanadas. Dinner courses were short rib, shrimp tacos and sea bass. Beautifully seasoned. Also pineapple brûlée is a must.

Yelp
Unfortunately the only thing going for this place is the lively vibe and atmosphere everything else is just below average. We had a friend's holiday dinner last night and our service was certainly on point, our waiter was prompt and suggested several recommendations from drinks to food. The drinks were just okay. We tried several from their cocktail menu including the one promoted as instagram worthy by the waiter and it was all show! We quickly opted to order something standard like a vodka martini for our 2nd round of drink orders. As for the food, the black bean salsa they serve the table was great however half of the chips were stale so we are already off to an odd start to the meal. As for our appetizers, we tried several including the yellowtail ceviche which was a joke! Barely any citrus and an overwhelming ratio of fillers vs fish. To call this a Peruvian ceviche is insulting! We also tried the empanadas they were also meh. The only decent appetizer was the patatas bravas which was cooked well and had an awesome crunch to it. At this point, we are already a bit skeptical about what our entrees would look like so we went with some safe options such as the Pichana steak, the lechon and the sea bass. The only decent entree was the sea bass which was served with a nice sauce. All the meats were just boring and lacked any seasoning or flavor. The lechon ate slimy? Our entire table left with more than half of our plates still full. That should tell you something. Disappointed by our overall experience and should have trusted the reviews before walking in here. Take your money elsewhere! I wish I did.

Yelp
I came here for my birthday dinner last night and the ambiance was amazing! I did not feel like I was in Dallas. There was live entertainment which was great. We had a group of 7 people and our waitresses were so attentive and ensured we had a great experience! The drinks and the appetizers were great. But our entrees were not that great which is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. It felt some of the food was missing some seasoning, specifically the chicken and beef short rib tacos.

Yelp
Visited Mar Y Sol for date night and we had a great experience. Started off with drinks at the bar and asked for recommendations as it was our first time; we ended up going with the hibiscus dragon and the el sabio. Both were great! Once at the table, our server, Andrew, suggested the pulpo al carbon (octopus), the yellowtail ceviche ans the tuna tiradiro, the tuna was my favorite dish of the night!! We had the parillada Argentina for our main course, which is definitely intended to be shared. The meats were tender and the sauces were flavorful. Finished the night with the pina colada crème brûle, which was served in a pineapple, so creative! We let Andrew guide our order with his recommendations and we were not disappointed. He was extremely knowledgeable, which we appreciated as foodies! Lastly, the vibes were there! From the dj to the saxophone and bongos players who walked around the dinner room, it all reminded us of Tulum. Overall, we had a great night and we will definitely be back, 10/10!

Yelp
This place is so cute inside! Great decor. They have so many workers from servers to hostess who check in on you during the visit. The drinks are on point, I would go back for the drinks and the queso fundido and the Argentina beef empanadas. So tasty, have the server mix the queso at your table. The tortillas that come with the queso are so delicious. I tried the lychee martini/margarita and that was tasty. The crowd favorite was the pineapple pisco sour. I would definitely check them out. They have valet in front which helps.

Yelp
Love love the vibe here, a cute spot for pictures and dressing up for dinner. Service was great. Food was good too but nothing we got stood out to us like that. Yellow tail ceviche: 7/10, some of us weren't a huge fan of the chips. Big eye crispy rice: 8/10, lechon & shrimp chaufa 9/10, lomo saltado: 8/10, wood fired ribeye: 6/10, barely chimichurri sauce. Crème brûlée was so good! 8/10, the flan one was interesting, not really a fan 6/10

Yelp
We celebrate my granddaughter 15th birthday dinner, the ambiance of being in a tropical island! Food exotic and DELICIOUS! Very unique plates and we felt like we were being served by 10 ser vice team! Please place is gorgeous and the music was on point.

Yelp
I was so excited to go to this restaurant because it is new and beautiful and Latin! I will say the service was great, and the interiors are stunning, especially the entrance! I do wish restaurant owners would insist on more sound deadening elements... this restaurant was so loud you couldn't have a great conversation across the table. A little felt lining the ceiling or some foam to absorb sound would help a lot as well as taking the music down about 3 levels.. background music is so much more pleasant than feeling like you're having dinner in the middle of a night club! For dinner we started with the Tuna Tiradito which was AMAZING! We also had chips and Guacamole ... honestly it wasn't my favorite Guacamole ... I found it very bland and for some reason everyone seemed very resistant to bringing us salsa! Next up we shared the Chicken Tacos, which were good but a little sweet for me. We also shared the Wood Fired Red Snapper... this was delicious but know it is the WHOLE fish so you get bones and skin, 2 things I'm not a fan of! The sauces that go on this dish are ridiculously good though! Our cocktails tonite were the Hibiscus - Dragon fruit margarita, very good! The Mar y Sol Margarita which comes with a cool orange "whip" on top. I found it tasty! My second cocktail was the La Diabla... such a show to see it arrive! Surrounded in steel wool and on fire!! Overall I'd say it was good but until I can go to dinner and have a conversation I probably won't be back..

Yelp
Amazing food and drinks and the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous from the moment you walk in.

Yelp
I have pretty much nothing but good things to say about mar y sol. I came on a Friday in the early evening for a reservation at 4:45 PM. I actually arrived at 4 PM, and I'd been driving in from Austin so I decided to just wait for my reservation there. The restaurant had not actually opened yet when I arrived; they were about to, but they were just making some final touches inside. I really need to go to the bathroom, but they actually wouldn't let anybody in even for that until about 4:05 PM when they were ready. That said, the patio we were waiting on was very cute, but not air conditioned. Once they opened the door inside, the ambience was the first thing that really struck me about this restaurant. It has a very upscale, modern Mexican vibe, with very tasteful decor. All the staff including the hostesses, waiters, and waitresses were dressed extremely well. They had at least one large bar in the center of the restaurant, and I believe another smaller bar around the corner in the same dining area. There was tons of seating at that bar, so that's where I waited for my reservation. While waiting, I ordered their Paloma, which is made with mezcal. It was very refreshing, and it was a great place to kill time while waiting to be seated. As soon 4:45 came around, they got me seated at my table in the bac. Our server Hermenio was very helpful and attentive and frequently checked in with me even though my other party member had not arrived. When she did arrive, we decided to order food in little chunks. The first thing that we ordered was the white tuna Crudo, which was a little bit small, but very flavorful. I think coconut was the overarching flavor, but they put pepper and coconut flakes on top which gave it some really excellent texture. The next thing we ordered were the shrimp tacos, which were absolutely delicious; they weren't necessarily unique to this restaurant, but the flavors were outstanding. We also ordered the duck flautas which were pretty good, not the best thing I've ever had but definitely tasty. We also ordered some more drinks, I got the hibiscus dragon, which was very refreshing and contained dragon fruit in it. My friend got the margarita de Oro, which was really refreshing as well, and had an ice cube shaped like a rose, which I thought was a really lovely touch. The last thing that we ordered was the Pesado Frito, and the market fish that was being used for that was snapper (it's market price - the total for us was $68 on the receipt). What shocked me about this dish was the size of it - we were decently full by the time we ordered it, and when it came out, we were pretty shocked at the size (it was a LOT). All of the food was served with chips (tortilla, sweet potato, and plantain) and a little cup of salsa as well, and we ordered a side of guacamole ($5), which went well with the pescado Frito, but again we were already so full it was hard to enjoy it. That said the flavors were really excellent, the only thing I would change is that it would be good to have some kind of a sauce with the fried fish, like maybe a chipotle tartar sauce, or some other jalapeño dip. The last thing that we ordered that did really blow me away was the pineapple crème brûlée. It was literally a crème brûlée served out of a scooped out whole pineapple half. It was extremely flavorful, and I loved the Brulé bits on top with the texture of the chunks of pineapple on the bottom mixed with the actual cream itself, which was delicious. We also got a small Tres leches with a firecracker on it as part of our celebration which I thought was a really sweet thing that the restaurant did for us. As a sidenote, there's a complementary valet available here. There actually wasn't any self parking - only the valet. They do take tips, but otherwise it doesn't cost anything. Additionally the bathrooms inside we're extremely clean and very nice; I can tell that there is a lot of attention to detail paid here because there were even little bow designs on the toilet paper when I first arrived at the restaurant. Overall, the vibes of this restaurant are absolutely immaculate, the service is really excellent, and in my opinion, the drinks and the desserts are top tier. The food itself is also very good, it's just not particularly unique. Despite that though, given the flavors and textures, I would still give this restaurant five stars in general. The only other thing I will note, is that some of the dishes are a little bit small and if you order several, it can add up. Knowing what I know, now if I could change things, I would still order a larger dish on the right side of the menu such as the pescado frito we ordered, and then just one appetizer. I think that would be more than enough food for two. Did remember one last thing: the place is LOUD. It wasn't bad when I arrived at opening but it filled up and I was near yelling at my friend by the time we left so she could hear. Still giving 5 stars but just take note~

Yelp
It is very rare that I give such high rating to a place but omg! Went there with a few girlfriends for a birthday dinner and everything was amazing. the food, the ambiance, and the vibes. Highly recommend if you want to have good food!

Yelp
What an amazing experience - the service food , and atmosphere was terrific. I sat out on the enclosed porch that later transferred to an open aire patio. I enjoyed a signature Mar y Sol margarita , yellowtail ceviche , and the duck flautas. All were exceptional!!! The bar scene was hopping and filled with wonderfully dressed patrons. I'd highly recommend this business and will be back. It's also a fun area to walk around and shop as well.

Yelp
Sexy, fun vibe. Service/staff were great. Very attentive, friendly and helpful. The appetizer, beef empanadas, was delicious! Flavorful and tender beef with a hint of smoke flavor. So good. The sea bass was cooked perfectly. Tender, buttery and flaky. The quinoa was a perfect compliment. The ribeye was also cooked perfectly (medium) and delicious. Ordered a side of chimichurri to go with it. So yum. And the creme brûlée served in a pineapple with bits of chopped up pineapple was fantastic. It was light and creamy. Not too sweet. Perfect way to end the night. This place is first class. Great for a date, couples night out and even girls/guys night out. We will definitely go back. We spent about $300 with the tip. Well worth every dollar.

Yelp
Anything Alberto Lombardi puts his hands on is always a great hit! The food, the atmosphere the energy, the amazing service are all top notch! I'm so lucky to have been one of the first to try this amazing new place! The energy makes me want to slip on my dancing shoes and take a twirl around the beautifully appointed space. Definitely give it a try!

Yelp
The girls' Birthday Dinner was the cutest. The spot is so cute. The presentation and service met expectations.

Yelp
I went to a dinner at this location last night with a party of 6 . I had order the pollo tacos that were supposed to have grilled pineapple as one of the toppings. My tacos only came with onion & cilantro. I mentioned it to the server. He decided to joke with me and say I ate all the pineapple. I went to the bathroom and the man took my plate . I was thinking , maybe he will bring it back with the rest of the toppings. No, he just took my plate away and that was the end. I wouldn't recommend this place because of the service I encountered.

Christian H.

Yelp
The food was GREAT! The ambience and atmosphere fit the vibes - loved it from that point. However, I would have liked to been informed that an extra tortilla would cost $5 or else I would have declined another given I just needed one single tortilla. Also, the server failed to inform us that an extra sauce was $2 each / again, would've opted out. To conclude my experience, the server (not sure if it was a mistake or not) entered a different tip amount than what was written on the receipt. Very disappointed in this as it could've been a mistake but it also could very well be fraud. Has not been fixed and days later my bank has processed it. Will be contacting the restaurant to address this concern.

Yelp
First off, the restaurant itself is beautiful but don't be fooled. My husband went to the bathroom where there was throw up everywhere so he left and told the host. An hour later before we left it was still there and he was still unable to use the restroom. After having a reservation for over a month to celebrate his birthday they sat us in the dark on a patio with no one and no lighting. Very disappointing. Not to mention we had to wait 30 mins for our table to be ready even though we had a reservation. There were people walking in without a reservation that were seated before us. There is definitely something to that. The food: I will say the sauce for the empanadas was very delicious but it ends there. We ordered about 4 more dishes and everything was bland. I would not recommend going here unless it's to show off you have money and have no taste in food.

Yelp
Great people watching, although very loud. Lots of birthday / celebration dinners. Food was hit or miss; cocktails and dessert were good though.
