"With a trifecta of locations in Montreal, Dollard-des-Ormeaux and Laval, Marathon’s namesake dish isn’t the only reason it’s earned heaps of accolades and praise from locals and media alike. First opened in 1977, this franchise’s generously portioned platters of gyros, souvlaki, lamb chops, and spanakopita have made it an anchored local institution wherever it’s landed." - JP Karwacki

Absolutely enjoyed my meal! My mom, my niece, and I went out to Marathons, and we had the pleasure of being served by Peter. He was an absolute gem—so kind and attentive. The food was just as amazing. Truly a priceless experience

Alfredo Bellitto

Google
The wait time on Sunday evening for supper was not long. The service was friendly and cordial. We got our food in a timely manner. The food was delicious and abundant. The bill was moderate. The experience is definitely worth the money you spend. I will definitely go back the next time I'm in the West Island. Enjoy!

Google
This Greek restaurant never disappoints! The food is consistently delicious, the service is fast, and the staff is always courteous. The ambiance is warm and welcoming—perfect every time I visit. Highly recommended! 10/10 🥳

Google
This franchise offers comforting traditional Greek fare. Their lunch menu provides excellent value for money, a generous portion including flatbread (formerly garlic bread, a bit disappointed), a choice of fries or rice, a salad, and a soft drink. Service can occasionally be slow.

Google
Lunch special was basically regular price lol, but we got the gyro plate and pita. Very good 😊 checkout us out at @mtlfoodbros on IG/tik Tok for our review video :)

Google
This is probably one of the most underrated restaurant in the West Island. The food is great and portions are generous. When we order takeout, again portions a good and just looking at the food makes me drool. You can tell it was prepared and cooked by people who care. I’m looking at my Greek salad right now … big red tomatoes, nice chunk of cucumber with feta cheese and red onions. So fresh and made with quality ingredients. Thank you Marathon!

Google
The food was amazing but it’s the service that made the experience terrible. The waiter was rude. Ever since he served us he was very judgmental. He didn’t even ask us if we wanted dessert or to see the dessert menu. He left us in the corner and didn’t care about us. I love Marathon Souvlaki but this experience stained our decision.

Google
I really love all the food, but your frozen round rippled fries are not very appetizing.Never have liked them, and I know that you are a franchise, but I used to go to the first one in Laval. We never liked the French fries! The rest is delicious and perfect . Can you offer a different option ? Like greek lemon potatoes, or thin fries , or regular fies ? Thanks for letting us give our opinion 😀

Yelp
Really great express spot. Can never go wrong getting a gyro pita here . They Greek salad was also well made. Highly recommended for take out. Service is very friendly.

Yelp
Marathon Souvlaki in West Island is one of the best place in the Montreal to enjoy Souvlaki on pita, chicken sticks , and the fried calamari. We have been eating Marathon for over 20 years - from their original location in Laval. The food is always fresh and tasteful. The Tzatziki sauce is amazing. The Souvlaki was very tender and loaded with lots of Tzatziki sauce and vegetables. The salads and fries were great! They even serve Heinz Ketchup . You will sure be happy with size of each plate. The staff is really friendly. We had a great meal. Marathon Souvlaki is a winner !

Yelp
Perhaps it's not the most authentic, perhaps they don't have the ultimate best seasoning, nor is it the quietest Greek restaurant in the city; but what they do, they do well and they do it consistently. They would even put some fast-food chains to shame for their efficiency and precision. After all the years the quality has stayed constant and the service is always on it. Fast yet not too fast, friendly but not overly, attentive while not feeling robotic. I really enjoy their pakilia platter which is a mix of various appetizers and their house salad has a fabulous dressing and texture. It's crave worthy as is their garlic toast. Their portions are also ample and it's usually a challenge to finish. You can barely manage to fit in the liquorice flavoured candy which taste a lot like ouzo (but who's complaining). The dining area is filled with substantial booths in a maze-like setup. They are dark walnut with some sort of paisley patterned material covering the cushions or perhaps it's just beige, but for some reason I recall it having a motif of some sort. Either way it's very simple, straight forward and fits with the overall efficient nature of the place. They surely do know what they know, and it's apparent by all the repeat and loyal customers they have created.

Jeff C.

Yelp
It's a Montreal staple! Best souvlaki in town! The plates are huge. If your hungry this is the place to go! Service is great and the meals are very tasty! Enjoy

Susan H.

Yelp
Best taziki sauce great service souvlaki to die for salad amazing affordable for famillies

AMarie V.

Yelp
Food is consistent. Service is really a question of how busy they are but generally good. Ambiance is loud if busy. We like take out as they really package good well. Chicken Pita yum Garlic Toast yum Marathon Salad has the best dressing! Gyro Pita yum Olives awesome kalamatas

Marc M.

Yelp
I really like it here. Huge portions. Tasty food. Great salads. They have a large dining room and efficient staff. Busy for lunch and supper. People know a good deal

Hilary K.

Yelp
Came here yesterday which usually is extremely busy place to go .. found the place completely empty absolutely no body in sight ghost town.. I decided to take my food to go for safety reasons Service pretty awesome but again we were their only order .. wonder how the service is when there's more people. The ambiance was quite sad .. workers looked worried and bored The food: Super duper yummy ! Cooked wonderfully ! They jamm packed our gyro doner pitas waaaaw It was mouthwatering !! Rice was fresh calamari was ok but a bit soggy not going to lie it had a weird fishy odor .. Salad was fresh . The food was delicious and pretty happy about it. Overall, service and food last night was amazing and definitely hit the spot .. I'm glad we had greek food as I was craving it for a while now. Definitely recommend it. If you're worried about going to restaurants in general because of the pandemic just order over the phone and pick it up on the side door it's pretty neat and the service is quite quick and efficient! Cheers

Yelp
This is the best family run business for Greek food so you know the recipes are authentic this is my all time go to place for many years and more to come

Sam P.

Yelp
Ultimate Greek comfort food! I've been here dozens of times since I was a kid and have had consistently great food and fast service. It's nothing fancy but it's delish! I always get the exact same thing: the gyro pita all dressed with marathon salad (dressing on the side) no olives and fries well done. Simple perfection! I don't know authentic Greek food so I can't comment on the authenticity but I love it here and it always satisfies when the tzatziki craving comes on. My favourite of the 3 locations!

Julieanna A.

Yelp
Food is beautiful for the best souvlaki in town! Perfect! Gorgeous prompt service thank you! Excellent quality! Tzatzikki amazing! All good! Beautiful staff and service polite and organised! Perfect!

Michael L.

Yelp
Great, authentic, filling and cheap. I got the gyro pita with tzatziki on the side and lettuce on the pita. The waiter gladly said "sure!" The pita is stuffed with meat, tomato and onion. All the other reviews really don't lie. The flavours are amazing. It is definitely a must try, especially in dollard as there aren't many restaurants that are worth going to. I never had a bad experience here and honestly can't wait for the next time I'm in dollard to go back! The staff are super friendly and the food is always great.

Joe J.

Yelp
A good place for a quick lunch if you are living a busy life (Don't we all) as their lunch menu is manageable and affordable but they are a star away from a perfect review due to the presentation of the plate and the pace of the service offered along with noise level and the lack of constant cool air. Overall it's a pleasant experience and you should try it if you don't mind the noise or the warm air.

Chris S.

Yelp
I go here with my boss all the time and the food is always just right and the staff is on their game great place but I'll keep coming back

Cameron C.

Yelp
Good Greek food and some very good portions too. I couldn't finish mine and unusually do. They have chicken and pork gyro plates but no lamb which was unfortunate. They have a huge salad with plates but the dressing is a little weird. Get the Greek salad instead. Overall a good place and super fast

Station L.

Yelp
Delicious food. Solid service. We had been looking for a place late in the evening and came across Marathon near our hotel. We were skeptical because it seemed like a chain type of place, was next door to several other crowded restaurants. However, this place didn't disappoint. The food portions were impressive, tasty, the food arrived quickly upon our ordering, and the service was on point. We'd definitely visit again.

Tamara H.

Yelp
I love this place. They bring you delicious garlic bread while you wait for your meal... who does that? It's genius lol Also, their portions are huge and their prices affordable. I like to order the same thing everytime; the chicken pita plate with 1/2 Marathon salad, 1/2 "fries". So delicious and I will be back the next time I have a craving for yummy Greek food and Tzatziki

G C.

Yelp
So fresh and delicious! We stopped for lunch on our way to Ottawa. The pitas were loaded and the plates were huge. The rice has the right flavors and fresh salad and hot round fries. The restaurant is clean and the servers are friendly and welcoming. A+ winner!

Wendy H.

Yelp
This is the second location we visited. We were seated right away. Service was prompt and friendly. The restaurant was very nicely decorated and clean. I loved my chicken pita. It came with crispy fries and a salad. Portions were huge and food was good.

Nick F.

Yelp
Greek owned business making some of the best Greek souvlaki you can get in the West Island, my go-to place on a Friday night when I decide to order in. Service is relatively fast even on high volume nights and quality is average.

Karen R.

Yelp
If it were possible to leave negative stars? I would. My partner & I thought souvlaki and calamari was just what our evening needed. We arrived at Marathon's at 6:30 on Sat. night. We were disgusted to find a line up with no social distancing and the establishment way over safety guidelines. This kind of disregard for clients' safety speaks volumes. We won't be back, even when the pandemics is over.

Sarah T.

Yelp
Restaurant style fast food place with gyros and souvlaki, more of a price versus quality choice. Super busy during lunch as the price is reasonable (pita+fries+soft drink =9.50$), and portion size ratio is good for what you are paying. That is the main good point. Plus service was pretty reasonable for how busy the restaurant was. Being right off the highway and des sources road, plus having plenty of parking as it is attached to the mall makes it a convinient and easy to get to place. As for the food itself, the choice is pretty limited as is standard through out all their locations. Compared to other Greek restaurants, nothing really feels fresh/homemade and isn't very authentic. The fries are definitely previously frozen, the salad pretty basic with store bought dressing, and the rice is reminds me of preseasoned pack you buy at the grocery store. I also tried the saganaki at a different location once and was completely underwhelmed, first time at a Greek restaurant where they don't put it in flames in front of you- felt as if just warmed from frozen.

Peter M.

Yelp
It's good food. You can't go wrong with the Greek food there. I find that it has gotten pricey. Too expensive even if the price of gas has gone up.

Jamie O.

Yelp
Best and all time favourite four Greek food.Great atmosphere to celebrate a birthday or perhaps even a first date. Great tasty souvlaki's and tart tart sauce.

Christina A.

Yelp
Went today for lunch, the second time in two weeks. I must say that for Covid, they're really respecting the rules. We were seated with plenty of space, using paper menus and a server wearing both a mask and a face shield. The service was friendly and quick and the food was hot and plentiful. While I don't find their souvlaki to be the very best souvlaki I've ever eaten, I have to say it is always a solid eight on 10. The pork brochettes are always packed with meat, no fat or gristle. The fries are always perfect. The rice is a bit bland as is the Greek salad, even if they are plentiful. My kids love the souvlaki pita!

Francis L.

Yelp
It's great takeout too. Service is prompt frendly staff. You want it every day. Ha ha. Enjoy I did.

Gary H.

Yelp
I read some of the reviews and was hesitant about going in but I'm very glad I did. I had the lamb chops and they were fantastic. Exploding with flavour, tender and cooked to perfection. Wow. The more than generous sides of fried potatoes and Greek salad made for a very filling and satisfying meal. Service was a miss though. My waiter did the job but a complete lack of finesse. He went to another table so they could pay and he put his handful of plates on their table. Weak. I watched another fellow serve the dinner plates out, dropped a potato on a customer's lap, shrugged and continued putting the plates down. No finesse. Friendly, sort of, but no finesse. Food was a 5, service maybe a 2.5!

Angelo I.

Yelp
Pros: Great spot for souvlaki with great tasting food and huge portions for the price. I have never left there feeling less than 100% satisfied. Cons: A bit noisy during busy times as there aren't really any dividers between the tables. No Tzatziki given with the platters.

Yvette G.

Yelp
Everything is amazing at this place! Location, value for money, service, cuisine and ambience are fantastic! One of my favorite places in Montreal.

Leyli S.

Yelp
The food was delicious and the ambience was good too. I will come back again. The beer was testy too. Also it's a kids friendly

Melanie R.

Yelp
Let's face it ..the food is good. But the service. Ugh. No one to greet me at the door Friday afternoon, which was fine as my friends were already on the terrasse. ..but I got a big "where are you going? ???" Yelled over to me from another part of the restaurant when I walked to meet my party. Um. No. Maybe saying "excuse me ..I am busy..please wait to be seated.." while she was chatting her girlfriends and chewing gum...but no.. Then...all was well...but we had to ask the waiter 3 times for everything. Ice for my tepid rose wine. I was finished my meal before it showed up. The restaurant was empty and the terrasse was mostly full with 2 wait staff and a bus boy. So not terribly busy (there are maybe 12 tables) ..."No onions, not in the salad and not in the pita...ONLY sauce on the pita for the child" obvious translated to onions in and on EVERYTHING. Either way..the food was great. Will not be going back though. I'll drive to the one in Laval. Stars are based on food only.

Ames L.

Yelp
Very delicious food. Generous portions. Amazing takeout. You know that it is great just by looking at its lineup!

Aileen L.

Yelp
ATMOSPHERE: It's nice and warm inside. Pretty spacious and doesn't make you feel cooped up. This is the perfect place for a casual dinner. FOOD: Awesome quality. I love getting their pitas here, no matter what meat it is, it's always flavorful. I personally am not the biggest fan of their rice so I just get the fries instead. I also love their marathons salad. The dressing is delicious. Overall, a definite go-to place for me. Their garlic bread appetizers are really good as well, although they are a bit greasy... PRICE: Very good prices for the quantity and quality that you get, especially at lunch. I usually bring a part of my meal home (and I eat A LOT), tells you how big the portions are! SERVICE: Service is decent, it depends on who is serving you but it's usually pretty good.

Meghan R.

Yelp
Really big portions here and the chicken pita is always my favorite dish!! Really great place

David B.

Yelp
Good food, service was ok. Food portions were huge and our orders were served fast. The restaurant is large and accommodating and it gets packed daily for lunch.

Carl O.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at Marathon Souvlaki. I came for lunch with a co-worker and ordered the gyro lunch plate. It was HUGE! It came with salad, bread, potatoes and I ordered tzatiki on the side for $1 (worth it)! The place was busy at lunch, however we were seated quickly, food came fast, and we got take-out boxes with ease. Check this place out for a quick, delicious, fairly priced lunch or dinner.

Graham U.

Yelp
I was at this restaurant on Friday evening with 4 others. I have eaten here before and the food good. This time we were here for dinner. Food was decent and expected a nice meal out with friends. There was an extremely large issue and I would never set foot again in the restaurant. My friend chose the greek salad that came with the meal. It was not your typical salad and had no lettuce and the plate consisted of 90% tomatoes. She was not expecting a tomato salad! As most places do not serve like this, it was not what she expected. When the waiter was asked to change salads to the marathon salad, he became disgruntled. We had to persuade him to ask the owner to replace the salad although only 1 or 2 bites were taken. Normally a restaurant would not hesitate to make a change under these circumstances. I then spoke to the owner and explained the situation. The owner said he would replace the salad. When the new marathon salad arrived, it was only lettuce and dressing. None of the items that come with salad were on it. Ie olives, cucumber, feta cheese, tomatoes. The manager explained the lettuce was the addition to the greek salad to turn it into the marathon salad. THE ORIGINAL SALAD WAS TAKEN AWAY!!! ALL THAT WAS LEFT WAS LETTUCE AND DRESSING! We tried to explain it was not a full marathon salad and she was left with lettuce and dressing. The owner refused to correct the situation and even accused my friend of trying to steal food . eating a bit or 2 of the greek salad, which was really a tomato salad and changing it to the Marathon Salad he considered to be stealing food! I have never heard of anything so absurd in my life. The owner even continued argue and say this is how he serves a greek salad and she should have known what to expect and he is Greek and his is a "real" greek salad. In the end nothing was resolved except unhappy customers who wont come back again. No wonder the waiter was disgruntled, he has been trained by the owner! Arguing and accusing the customer of stealing? Hence the reason it is a 1 star review. Unfortunately we could not give it less!

Jason M.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to eat for 20+ years now. Traditional Greek cuisine that hits the spot, especially when you need a boost during a crappy day. The original is located in Laval but this new location keeps the food and service on par as the original. A few notes : - Many different and delicious dishes to try out. My all time favorite is the chicken pita platter with their delicious marathon salad and fries. - The Tzatziki is fantastic. - I recommend any lamb dishes they have. - Service is extremely friendly and quick. - As I go only for lunches due to its proximity at work, I cannot see how slow the service gets for dinner (as its the main issue for the laval location). However, this place tends to get pretty packed at lunch so make sure to get in a few minutes early or be forced to wait some. - The price tag is honest and worth every penny.

Lauren S.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to come for greek food. Their service is always great, the food is always tasty, and the portions are huge for the price! Tonight I had 2 chicken sticks with fries and greek salad, and I can't complain about a thing... ok too many tomatoes in the greek salad maybe but thats about it.

Jill M.

Yelp
I love marathons. I usually get the doner pita with the marathons salad. It's amazing. Best dressing.

Anthony D.

Yelp
I "love" this restaurant! Although my experience with them is always the side door for takeout, our meals here are always excellent. The chicken, pork and lamb souvlaki pitas are amazing. Sometimes we'll order the platters and I would recommend asking for 1/2 fries (medallion) and half rice. I tried one of their jumbo Marathon salads last night and it was delicious. The only negative is they're not 100% at checking their orders and I was short changed a pita more than once. When you call to complain, they have a ledger to credit your next visit by whatever you were short changed but this would not be necessary if they double checked the orders. I now always check the bag before I leave the restaurant.

Lauren V.

Yelp
Price is good for what you get. I love their food. Very tasty and filling! Salades are always fresh. And great customer service. Great interior, looks clean and welcoming. I would recommend this place! Only downfall, not enough seafood choices.

Sidara A.

Yelp
Still dreaming of the mouth watering and oh so delish garlic bread . I always love coming to Marathons, the food is beyond great and the service is excellent!

Yuvy G.

Yelp
Food is great but not very great selection. They have smaller meals for children and the location is convenient. Also, the restaurant is nicely decorated, often packed though. Overall, I would recommend Marathon's for a family supper or anything that isn't too classy.

Min Min I.

Yelp
Wow, the best vegetarian Greek pita I've ever had. The ingredients were very fresh, including the tomatoes and feta. I loved the rice (but forgot to ask if it was vegetarian or not). Quality ingredients and service. Would love to come back again. PARKING: Large lot and easy access

Eve M.

Yelp
I mean come on people, it's MARATHONS!! Every single thing is amazing. They're fries are crispy and delicious, the marathon dressing and Gyro. Mmmm. You can never go wrong.

Marty I.

Yelp
Quick and tasty. If you want to eat quickly and not spend a ton, this is the move. We usually get the 2 pita meal and split it. Portions are HUGE. if your from the West Island then you know about marathons....

Sky ..

Yelp
Awesome food again! Will be back soon. Highly recommended to everyone ... when you are in Montreal

Cynthia C.

Yelp
Great value for your money! I had the chicken pita platter with the Marathon salad, and half portion of fries and rice. Excellent! The chicken pieces were big and juicy. Service was quick. Will definitely come back.

Andrew H.

Yelp
I'm a regular and will remain one. The staff is amazing,y friendly, service is quick and the food is to absolutely die for. Their tzatziki is home made. It's so flavourful you can't even imagine. Nice selection of beer and wine also. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to have great Greek cuisine, at a great price too.
