This restored automobile factory is a nice, short stop for a view into auto manufacturing at the turn of the 20th century. Machinery from the assembly line is beautifully displayed, and there are a number of small stores that have souvenirs, food, craft liquor, a tattoo parlor, a comedy club, Antique Archaeology and more. This is a great place to spend a couple of hours as you’re exploring Nashville.

Google
Cool area! We started our visit to Nashville in this neighborhood and checked out antique archeology. Several shops in this building, parking was $10 across the street in a gravel lot. We parked here in order to access the hop-on hop off trolley tour.

Google
Great place to go anytime even if you live here. But, a must stop if visiting Nashville. A former auto factory built in 1881. Has plenty of gift shops and places to eat. I Love this mural on the outside on the brick building

Google
Very cool spot if you're into history. Didn't know Nashville had sp much history. American Pockers store located here too!

If you're in Nashville, carve out some time to come here. There is something for everyone. From shops and distilleries to restaurants a winery and a museum! Antique Archaeology (from American Picker's has a store here). The building was in rough shape years ago when purchased by an individual who want to use it to store upholstery etc. He later realized the rich history of the building, where Marathon Auto used to manufacture it's cards (competed with Pierce Arrow). He restored the building, utilizing its available space for shops and hallways packed with tools of the trade from back in the manufacturing days. He also bought up every Marathon car he could find. They are on display in the old showroom (museum across the street - free to get in). There are only a handful left, in the condition in which they were found. We had a great lunch here. Jack Daniels was cool to check out. Our whiskey samples at another distillery offered (5 mini shots) that you got to choose. They were all fantastic and we bought some to go. The samples were free! Block out a few hours and check it out!

Lots to see, beautiful building, neat little shops, and highly recommended moonshine and whisky sampling in Tennessee Legend Distillery.

Justin Barkey

Google
Fun place to browse and shop, free moonshine tastings.

Sean Donovan

Google
Cool mall to browse and shop. Has the American pickers store and jack Daniel's in there. Tons of things to browse and look at. A couple.of places to do tastings. Look further outside since there are some distilleries next door.

Yelp
This block once housed the Marathon Motor Works company in the early-ish 1900s. Lots of history in this gem of a spot, and I didn't expect to see so many little places to shop! You'll find souvenir shops, distilleries, auto exhibits, retail, candy shops, moonshine shop, a winery, and art shops. It's kid-friendly, but you may not want to have them in tow if you want to indulge in some of the adult beverages. I picked up a few souvenirs, read up on the exhibits, walked through the distilleries, and headed out. You can easily spend 1-2 hours here. Unfortunately, a handful of shops were closed when I came - which is weird, considering it was the weekend around noon. In terms of parking, there's some lots - don't forget to pay. I opted to take a taxi to/from for convenience.

Yelp
The Marathon Village in Nashville is the converted old Marathon Motor Factory that now offers both indoor and outdoor shopping and dining. The buildings house many original parts, accessories, and historical artifacts from the factory's heyday in the early 1900s. Visitors can explore the American Pickers store and the Jack Daniels Distillery store on-site, with all-day parking available across the street for $10.
google avatar

Shanina S.

Yelp
Marathon Village is a building that once housed Marathon Motor Works from 1910-1914. The company started in Jackson, Tennessee in 1907. It was the first factory to totally manufacture automobiles in the southern United States and the only one to do so until General Motors made the Saturn in 1990. The Marathon Village was one of the first stops that the Old Town Trolley Tours made. My mother and I decided to get off and check it out. Marathon Village is a unique venue with a variety of small shops, eateries, and distilleries centered around a museum of early automobile production machinery. I love history and this couldn't be a better stop for me. There were unique tools that I used to see when I used to visit my grandmother. It brought back so many memories. What a great museum!!!
google avatar

Stacy A.

Yelp
Marathon is where marathon motors made cars in the early 1900 . Now there are shops, tastings , restaurants and a small museum there. It is a great place to get some gifts from Nashville. The Grind Switch has amazing tasting ! Tennessee Whiskey has a wonderful free tasting and everything we tried we liked.

Maria L.

Yelp
This was a delightful surprise on our 24 hour visit of Nashville. Cute shops but the highlight was just walking around the buildings and seeing all the history of classic car history. The guys loved it. Lots of tools and pictures to look at and touch. VERY well curated! And free

Yelp
A hidden gem away from downtown. You will find at least three distilleries and wine store within walking distance. There are few small shop, and displaying many old machinery from old auto plant. I wish they have stronger A/C during the hot summer day. You can either Uber, tour bus or drive over there. If you are going to have fun or planned for tasting, then you better off with car service. Also, don't forget to walk away the building to check out the old model car.
google avatar

David H.

Yelp
The building was originally an auto plant over a hundred years ago and there's some unique auto-related exhibits that are worth a look. There are also some shops (I didn't really check those out) and distilleries and wineries (I did check a couple of those out). I didn't spend a ton of time walking around this place but it's worth checking out for sure and much more low key/chill if you want to get away from the Broadway craziness for awhile.

Yelp
Sitting between 12th and 14th Street on Clinton Avenue is this beautiful building filled with souvenir shops, local artists studios, clothing stores, delis, candy shops, salons, wineries, breweries and most importantly history relating to the original inhabitant of the building, Marathon Motor Works. While Marathon Village is fairly new, it is already made its spot on the local tour guides routes. Marathon Village has certainly woven itself into the fabric of Nashville, not only as a tourist spot, but also as a local landmark with a far reaching impact on the local creative community. Once inside, you walk through the narrow hallways that feature walls and corridors full memorabilia and artifacts that lend themselves to the origins of the building and surrounding community. In addition to the items, the hallways are lined with shops of all varieties. We were there on a mission to hit up the Music City Creative, a local screen printing shop with fantastic apparel, amazing photo ops and even better service! In addition to this spot, we also hit up a few souvenir shops and poked our head in the winery. Parking can be tough on busy days, just like most things in or near downtown. They have a few spots lining the streets and have a small gravel lot that sits on the side of the building. If neither one of these are not fruitful with open spots, you can always head in one of the nearby paid lots. Overall, we came in on a week day during the mid-morning, so we did not have to deal with the crowds that are mentioned in countless other reviews. Given the nature of some of the stores, especially the American Picker shop, I can see this place being a little overwhelming on the weekends or holiday weekends. Again, we came here for one reason and ended up wondering around a little. As long as Music City Creative is located inside this building, we will visit every time we are in Nashville!

Yelp
A fun mix of history and local shopping. Throw in some local wine and liquor tasting rooms. On a recent trip to Nashville I was looking for something to do in between all of the eating and found Marathon Village. I'm so glad we made the trip. All of the businesses here are local. Shopping includes clothing, jewelry, gift items, local knickknacks, antiques, home goods, art, and olive oil. There's also a comedy club, winery, salon, two distilleries, coffee shop, a deli, and a candy shop. The variety of businesses is good. A former manufacturing plant, the building has been nicely preserved to have a historical feel. The halls include historical photos and machines to make strolling the shops more interesting.

Yelp
I will never return to this mall. I am severely disappointed with the Parkin scam they have going on there. This was my second visit to this place and it will be my last. Such a shame, it is a beautiful building with a lot of great shops. BUT, I paid $3 dollars to park across the street in a pretty rough, gravel parking lot that used to be free. I spent over $300 in the mall and when I came out, 12 min past my parking time, I had a $47 ticket in my window. REALLY!?!? $47 for 12 min!! For a $3 space? And after I spent several hundred dollars in their shops? I go to Nashville at least once a year, but I will never return to this mall.

AnnMarie N.

Yelp
I loved Marathon Village! I went twice. Once in a tour bus, and once again the day on was leaving , with some friends who live not to far away but had never been ! There's a winery, a brewery, gifts and jewelry. Olive oil store! So delish ! There's more, make sure you leave yourself a lot of time to browse!

Yelp
Had lots of cool shops and awesome antique equipment. Not a place for kids though. Give it a try

Yelp
Stumbled upon this cool place while we were looking through a shop located on the premises.. It is such a cool building full of history and great for my hubby who loves older model cars and the history behind them. Along with museum exhibits throughout the building there were a bunch of cute little boutiques and local shops to explore. Perfect spot to spend a few hours in Nashville
google avatar

Jessica H.

Yelp
If you're looking for baby boomers buying Nashville T-shirt's, this place is for you! Me? I paid $6 to park for 30 minutes and battled hoards of people who are probably fans of "American Pickers" while overhearing baby boomers make rude comments about millennial hipsters. The space is nice, but poorly lit, and the South is littered with old warehouses and factories that have been renovated into mixed use spaces. This one wasn't executed very well. I'm not sure why it showed up on my list of things to do, but I should have done a little more research first. It just wasn't for me.

Yelp
What a cool place. Filled with unique shop tools from early Industrial Age. As a collector/seller of antiques, it was worth the trip and a nice break from downtown. The building has a wide variety of shops and boutiques. We really enjoyed the whisky/moonshine samples. Ended up buying 3 flavors. Chocolate peanut butter whisky. Lemon moonshine and spicy mango moonshine. I really loved the blackberry whisky, but felt I probably wouldn't drink it enough. The Antique Archeology store is what brought us here, but it was a tourist trap. Barely any antiques. 75% American Pickets logo Crap to 25% actual antiques(overpriced). There was also a Jack Daniels sampling place, but we enjoyed the flavored whisky place more.
google avatar

Jessica R.

Yelp
Very clean and a cool little museum with shops. Get their early and you can really enjoy the inside before all the shops open.

Erithier W.

Yelp
Really nice to place to enjoy the view of downtown also nice place to take some photos

Yelp
This is a gem! Great place to take anyone interested in car history. Love all the machines on display with lots of old pictures from the manufacturing days. Brought an aunt and uncle here as a siting seeing journey that is inside and air conditioned with unique Nashville history. Cute shops and eateries inside. Antique Archaeology has a store here that is basically a souvenir shop from the American Pickets show...frankly I was not impressed. Lots of Nashville merchants. Harley Davidson and Jack Daniel's are represented here too. This a nice break from Broadway and enjoyable for all ages. There is street parking for free and a couple paid lots across the street. If you are in the mood you can have a visit to the salon or get a tattoo.

Ray A.

Yelp
A great venue for hip gatherings with an excellent view of downtown Nashville. Free and paid parking available.

Yelp
This is a unique place to stop in during your stay in Nashville. Its an old auto factory and It obviously has some deep roots and would be worth a tour just to get a better understanding of what happen here and why this place is historic. We walked through it our selves. They have nice shops located within, ice cream, coffee, oils, etc. There is 2 distilleries near by. Stop in the Tennessee Legend Distillery, free tastings! I think that this area could be built up and become a hot spot. I would hate to see it get commercialized but unique places should grow around this historic site. Cheap parking around area. Music venue near by.

Yelp
Wednesday, April 16, 2014...This was my third visit to this wonderful historic building the original Marathon Auto Works building..a plant where they actually made the automobiles in Nashville many many many moons ago...The building is gorgeous...you have to go just for the building alone!!! There are several wonderful shops in the building..I love the Bang Candy Store...love love love..I also like the American Pickers Store...Antique Archaeology...expensive but gorgeous...the coffee shop, The distillery ...and some say that Kenny Chesney's office is even here...who knows...maybe I can see Kenny one day!!! Go and check it out..Forget about the neighborhood...and the parking is FREE that is a huge PLUS alone!!!
google avatar

Eva-Tanja C.

Yelp
An excellent attraction off the beaten path. We did notice it on our trolling tour but it looks like a Warehouse - would have never thought of going inside. Inside one can see various neat antique displays, several quaint shops and tastings for moonshine whiskey and wine. A must see if you're in Nashville Tennessee
google avatar

Vanessa N.

Yelp
The old Marathon Motor Works buildings were converted into a space for work/artist studios, boutiques, retail, event venue, and the Corsair distillery. Interesting place to walk around. This is also one of the places with the "I believe in Nashville" mural.

Cindy S.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel. The only complaint I have is the temperature of the water in the Sound waves was too cold and not comfortable at all.
google avatar

Michaela P.

Yelp
What a neat place, that everyone you talk to just down plays--guess people in Nashville want to keep it their secret. This used to be a car factory, and is currently being restored. Lots of interesting artifacts to see and touch. Amazing how they built cars back in the early 1900's. Lots of cute little shops throughout the building, including a sandwich shop, a winery, and a couple distilleries. Upstairs they have some offices and production/recording studios. Glad to have stopped by.
google avatar

Kim F.

Yelp
Nice touristy shopping, car museum, deli, coffee shop. Was a stop on our hop on hop off bus tour and we needed to walk a bit. Jack Daniels, Harley Davidson, Moonshine, wine tasting, etc... With so much to do in Nashville, I wouldn't go out of my way to get here, but was a nice spot to stretch our legs and get a coffee. (Barista Parlor...recommend, but no decaf, see review)
google avatar

Mike B.

Yelp
Revived historic area of town with a nice variety of boutiques for the ladies. The museum quality early American machinery will keep the fellas occupied while the ladies shop. While I did see a couple of small sandwich shops, what this area needs is a nice restaurant.
google avatar

Jamie M.

Yelp
This is a super cool space! It has all the original equipment used to make the Marathon car back in the 1900's. They have beautifully incorporated new into the original parts of the building. It's very interesting plus some very cool shops!
google avatar

D L.

Yelp
See The Chelsea Market in New York City! We could have this in Nashville.
google avatar

Marcia M.

Yelp
With being a transplant to Nashville since 2008, I can't claim that I know how the Marathon Village neighborhood has been perceived in the past. What I do know is that since I have moved here, this historical yet functional strip appears to be booming now! Lightning 100 and other business offices have called this renovated building home for a bit and with Corsair Distillery (taking over Yazoo's old space) opening recently to the public, Marathon Village Cafe, and Antique Archaeology all offering really great products and experiences, this is now a destination to flock too. The tasty Bang Candy Company is slated to open very soon and with the much anticipated Marathon Music Works scheduled in mid-November... this area will be on heavy rotation for this girl.
google avatar

Karen L.

Yelp
Maybe I hated this place so much because I actually live here in Nashville. I brought my parents here for Xmas on a rainy day. It is a tourist trap. The stores are full or random overpriced Nashville t shirts and junk. There is a deli but not a lot of other food options (candy is there though). All and all I guess I was just disappointed cause several people have told me it was a cool place. I won't be taking anyone else there, one visit was more than sufficient.
google avatar

Chadrick L.

Yelp
During a recent stay in Nashville we thought we would check out "antique archaeology" having watched the show. We drove to marathon village which has plenty of parking. The building itself is historic the old marathon motors factory which is being slowly converted into shops, gallery's etc. The Nashville Pickers shop was very interesting but looks bigger on TV. We had a good look around and took one or two photos. There is a nice gallery across the road but this area is still in development with not too much else there, but it's worth a browse if you are in the area.
google avatar

Hank D.

Yelp
The family hit this place and we love the additions of new businesses that have popped up. The contrast of old and new make for a great shopping experience. Lightning 100 Radio is on sight as well as a Bourbon Distillery and Corsair Distillery are open after 3 for tours and tastings.

Yelp
As Nashville grows and developers get permits to build 5 houses on one lot*, it's nice to see an effort throughout the metro to rehab abandoned spaces and give them new life. This is particularly apparent in the shopping category. Whether it's Cummins Station, the Factory in Franklin or the coming Factory (?) on Charlotte, there's a lot of life left in the old bones that make up the city and if you do it right, you'll bring business after business and customer after customer. Marathon Village does it right. Marathon has been reborn as both a venue and a shopping center. It succeeds on both fronts. As a venue, it's dramatic, attractive and unique, giving guests plenty of Instragramable real estate. But, I think its real strength is as a shopping center. Odds are (even in Nashville), you're not going to attend a big event on a weekly basis. But, odds are, coffee, lunch, drinks, clothes, beauty, etc. will get you out of the house with more frequency. All of the above and more are housed at Marathon. The weekends find the building particularly crowded with those chasing a TV show or bachelor(ette) parties looking to get an early buzz on. As such, I find myself roaming the halls during the week (my crowd and woo-hoo tolerance are both pretty low). There's a serenity to coming in for a cup of coffee and then wandering the halls to see where you're lead. Despite coming here so often, I am still finding new things to discover about the building and new tenants to patronize. Nashville, let's be smarter about our real estate. Rather than allow the past to fall in to disrepair, look to examples like Marathon Village as ways to connect to days gone by and help us enter the days to come. Age may come before beauty but sometimes they walk hand in hand. *Seriously, City Council? Stop allowing this. It makes no sense, looks terrible and it isn't sustainable. It's hurting the city.
google avatar

Laura L.

Yelp
Cool place. Love the use for this historic building. It's so cool seeing all the old equipment in the hallways interspersed with shops. I thoroughly enjoyed walking around here, inside and out. We easily found a gravel parking lot right across the street and parked there. There was no charge at that lot. There were quite a few people there but not a lot of cars... most of the people were getting dropped off by trolleys and tour buses.
google avatar

Lucas L.

Yelp
Great spot to include on any exploration of Nashville. Rich in history and diverse in food and retail, as well as fascinating business tenants. Great place to explore, learn some things, chill out for a while, and people-watch, since it is a pretty popular spot on the "it city" tourism itinerary. The music venue is one of the best auditoriums in town and a phenomenal sounding room. Plenty of free parking for the savvy driver, but after dark you might be a tad more choosy.
google avatar

Jeremy M.

Yelp
Not really impressive, nice, or friendly. Several stores with crazy high prices. Several stores had employees that could care less to answer questions or talk. Buses were dropping folks off so they probably get huge amounts of traffic reach day and rake in profits. Personally, skip this place and go have fun elsewhere in the city.
google avatar

Stephanie B.

Yelp
Very nice shopping center! The inside is gorgeous! They have many old machinery you can see. Nice hardwood floors inside and the inside feels antique. They have many local shops selling handmade items. I loved the shops! So many neat items and wonderful Christmas ideas!! Some shops were expensive but others weren't bad. A good mix! We went twice on our vacation, we loved it that much :)

Anthony A.

Yelp
Cool little spot! It was walking distance from our Airbnb and we had to check it out. Love the history and nostalgia of this place. Really cool the way they keep the history while updating the shops and tasting rooms. We will definitely check this place out again when we visit Nashville
google avatar

TooHonest F.

Yelp
With the exception of the large gift shop where the owners act like they are doing you a favor selling novelties and souvenirs, this place is a history treasure find, showcasing and retrofitting industrial machinery throughout from when it was an auto factory. Definitely worth a visit and stroll.
google avatar

McKenzie S.

Yelp
I first discovered Marathon Village while doing the Trolley Tour with a friend who was visiting. It is now a go-to place to bring out-of-towners. Whether you like historical buildings, cars, or shopping, this place has a lot of fun little shops! The building is part of the old Marathon Motor Works so it has a lot of history and is a beautifully restored building. The outside gives some great opportunities for photos while the inside displays different car parts and historical facts. It's like a museum and a shopping center. The building contains a variety of stores. Lots of "touristy" stores that have nice souvenirs that you can't find on Broadway. Yes, the prices are a little higher but I always think it's nice to get quality souvenirs over something cheap that will end up on a garage sale in a year. There are also some antique/home decor stores with some really nice stuff. If you're a whiskey fan, there is a Jack Daniel's gift shop. I don't believe they actually sell whiskey there. If you're looking for a refreshment, people rave about the wine slushies at the winery. Sweet tooth? There's a candy store! Jewelry, clothes, wine, souvenirs, antiques, craft beer, history...this place really has it all! It's fun to check out the building and the old car parts throughout the hallway and then pop into the shops in between. Parking can be tough if you go on the weekend. During the week it shouldn't be a problem. I've always found free street parking or there is a parking lot for $10. It's definitely worth checking out, especially if you have people visiting.
google avatar

Pookey M.

Yelp
I was torn between 3 stars and 2 stars. The bldg itself. Yuck, no a/c do b prepared to sweat unless you stay in one if the shops. the bathrooms are bad dirty. Doesn't anyone clean them during t h e day. Parking _ when did they start charging for parking? $10 is crazy!!!!! I found an easy spot on street. No restaurants they have a deli but that's it. Some of the shops were cute, cool
google avatar

Sharon S.

Yelp
Fun place to explore and shop! Repurposed building with lots of industrial machinery to keep the men busy while you shop alone. Tasting rooms too. Good variety of small independent shops. Very friendly and happy people. Family friendly and lots of restrooms throughout.

Kimberly W.

Yelp
I was in awe of the quality and care given to the restoration of these historic and beautiful buildings! It was a lovely and unique shopping experience combined with a fascinating museum experience. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Don't know where to really go on this one. Went for a wedding in the event hall and had a good time but a bit of pain. Hall is on the top floor with steep stairs without an elevator - which my wife really needed. Screwed up her back and legs for the rest of the week. May be a problem with the choice but this seems to be a major issue with the disabilities act. Thought I was going to have to give mouth to mouth to a couple of the catering guys who carried up a couple hundred pounds of food and proceeded to drop to the floor. Plus - this building would never pass muster with the fire marshall where i come from - not enough exits. I spent most of the night blowing out any candles I could find... Overall, a cool concept to save and restore but seems to be on a budget that ain't going to work out. Doesn't seem to be enough business to support the effort which ain't going to improve until they improve. This is also where the American Pickers store in Nashville is. What a joke! Nothing but a souvenir store for hats, shirts, refrigerator magnets. Had some good live music but little to look at. They certainly make it look better on TV than it is in person. Very disappointed although I can't stop watching the stupid show.
google avatar

Janette C.

Yelp
They've done a great job of repurposing this old building...a historic landmark. It's great to see it changed into this little hip area you can go and hang out and do some shopping, drinking and socializing. There are two different distilleries here, Cosair and Popcorn Sutton's. One for whiskey and one for moonshine. If you like either you should go.....if you don't like either, you should still go just to learn some history about how both are made !
google avatar

Joe H.

Yelp
This place is one of the most awesome local markets I've ever been too. It's historic and full of great surprises. If you are looking for a place to shop that offers something you can't get at home. Come here. Excellent coffee, locally made products, comedy venue, antiques, skilled tattoo artists, live music, and a museum. It has so much I know I forgot something.
google avatar

Lisa M.

Yelp
This is a tough review because this place was NOTHING like I expected. I expected to find a store with an abundance of goods that the guys find for me to consider purchasing but instead I felt like I was walking around an upscale tourist trap, a museum. I was disappointed. Ok, that noted ... this place is cool. Parking was weird, there were lines. It was hot inside the bldg. There are shops, I did buy Harley Davidson T-shirt for my bro and we did enjoy an ice cream cone.

Yelp
Well worth the stop. Took Uber over from the hotel. Very cool shops with unique and affordable items. Walked out with several perfect stocking stuffers. The Southern Engine Deli was a great place to have a reuben and soup!!
