The 17 Best Restaurants Near Lake Chelan - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Between all of the sit-down Mexican places in Chelan, Marcela’s is the one to prioritize. Owned by the same family that runs Rosita’s in Green Lake, the wet burritos here are the standout—especially when topped (and filled) with their chile verde pork in a citrusy tomatillo sauce. This should also be your Chelan margarita destination, as they have around 30 to choose from, including flavors like prickly pear, blueberry, and tamarind, and frozen lime versions that are tart and not too sweet." - carlo mantuano, emily burks

A group of 12 on a bachelorette/bachelor party went to this restaurant. They were very accommodating to our large group and were friendly. The food was amazing (fish tacos) and the bucket drunk was tasty too!!

Basic ingredients. More fillers than meat I got the chefs burrito with chicken steak and shrimp and didn’t eat half of i my as It was wet tortilla and freezing cold guacamole $30.00 burrito had me suspicious but waiter insisted its a hot plate here I’d go to the restaurant again just avoided the burritos personally To each his own Salsa and chips are garbage-3star on those

So this place definitely has room for improvement. 1. The salsa with the chips was quite spicy. 2. This place is big with an upper seating section as well. We were made to sit on the top. Service was spotty. Staff was, most of the time, nowhere to be seen. Perhaps if you have two levels, always have at least one staff member on the top floor. 3. Food took quite a while to arrive. Not typical of a Mexican restaurant. Maybe because it was a vacation day at a tourist attraction, but they should be prepared for it better.

First time Visiting Marcela's Cocina Mexicana in Chelan. We spent the day at the water Park, then drove into town for dinner. Found Marcela's and decided to give it a try. We were greeted immediately and sat promptly. Menus, water, chips and salsa were brought. After a bit, our server arrived for a drink order. When our drinks arrived, we ordered our food. When our food arrived, it was plated well and of sufficient portion sizes. We all enjoyed our selections. Flavors were good, as well as the temperature the food was served. I do have to say, once our food was brought, it was a while before we were able to order another drink and our water glasses were never refilled. We also had to wait a bit for our bill to be brought, after we finished our dinner. Otherwise, the restaurant was inviting and comfortable. The atmosphere was good. As I said, we enjoyed the food. I think this is a good option for Mexican food in Chelan.

What a great restaurant. When we came for dinner the restaurant was almost full. We sat outside and waited for a little bit to order but once we did it was good. The food was good. We started with chips and salsa. Two kinds of sauces one hot and one semi hot but both tasty. For the main dishes I ordered the ito burrito and it was enormous. Easily a two pounder. Full of beans, rice and pork in a tasty sauce topped with a green sauce and slices of avocado. My taste buds loved it. Every bite was a delight. My wife had the fish tacos with the tortilla soup and liked it. Unfortunately she didn't eat all of it because she ate before we got there and filled up with chips and salsa. I only ate half of my burrito and took the rest home. Looking forward to eating it later. For drinks I had a sprite and my wife had champagne. But we noticed that the margaritas were abundant at other tables as well as beer and many other types of drinks. The atmosphere was good. Really busy as the waitresses moved fast to serve everyone. We had three waitresses coming over to check on us. Even the bus boy was out making sure we were okay. Needless to say, we highly recommend Marcela's Cocina Mexicana. Try it. You won't be disappointed.

Google
The food was yummy we did have a bit of a wait but it was a Friday evening so it’s understandable. The top shelf margarita was delicious. I had the shrimp quesadillas from the appetizer menu and it comes with 3 single corn tortillas that are very crispy. Filled with cheese and a couple of shrimp with sour cream on top. We were seated on the top floor and it was very nice with good music.

Google
I like this little Mexican restaurant in Chelan. It has great food and 32oz margaritas. If you go to this little town then tou should stop by this establishment. You won't be disappointed.

This place was delicious 🤤 and the waiter was awesome 👏🏼. The best Mexican food I’ve had since living in Arizona! The only place we will go, if we want this kind of food. I had a strawberry Margarita that was delicious ❤️. Highly recommend.

Yelp
What a great restaurant! Excellent food, impeccable service! First, the service: the hostess greeted us at the door, and immediately took us to our table. Our server, Catherine, was asking for our drink orders moments after we'd taken our seats. And the abundant chips and salsa were at our table moments later. We ordered our food and it came promptly. In short, we felt the staff made sure we were taken care of, this despite the fact that the restaurant was hopping busy. What a great way to run a restaurant! Second, the food: it was excellent. We were all hungry, and each of us polished off our plates, despite generous portions. Catherine asked if we wanted boxes at the end of our meals, which set us all off laughing, since there was nary a scrap left! There were a variety of dietary restrictions, mostly gluten-free or vegetarian, and they happily accommodated. I really had a hankering for chicken tacos, which the server said they'd happily make for me, even though they weren't on the menu. And they were delicious, with a healthy portion of juicy and savory meat, loaded into homemade soft corn tortillas, which I loaded with healthy portions of their house-made salsa. So yummy! Others ordered their Tacos de Camaron (off their ample seafood menu), spinach enchiladas, vegetarian chimichangas (my girlfriend loved them), and Tacos Dorados. Plates were nearly clean when we were done, which speaks to how good the food was. I'm not sure when I'll next be in Chelan, but I can guarantee this will be my go-to when I am!

Yelp
Busy but not too bad I've been there when it is packed. Waitress I've never seen before very nice took order and when food came out my wife's was wrong, chicken enchilada with red sauce not verde sauce. We asked for a correct meal. Waitress took it back. Came back with same plate. They scraped off the red sauce, poured green over the "cleaned" enchilada and tried to wipe the evidence from the plate my wife was grossed out not knowing what actually happened in the kitchen. Portions are smaller as well three small corn tortillas for your carne asada? I think the MBA's finally got to Marcela on how to maximize profit rather than cook from the heart. when I saw my small iced tea was $4.99 and I was never offered a refill I realized accountants must be running the business's

Yelp
I got the steak salad and it was amazing. Margaritas though were not good... this is the first time I've had a bad margarita at a Mexican restaurant. The rest of my group got the nachos (sorry no pictures of anything else) but it looked fabulous, the pick 3 which they all said was good and the Marcela Burrito. In my opinion, the burrito was average, I'd give it a 5/10, it was definitely lacking something. Since I didn't taste any of the other dishes I cannot provide feedback, but I wish I had tried those nachos.

Yelp
I was very pleased with the variety of vegetarian options on the menu. While I initially planned to order the chimichanga, I changed my mind when I saw they offered Beyond Meat tacos. The restaurant also has a lot of unique margaritas. I chose the Beach Body margarita, which was exactly what I wanted--not sweet at all. My parents enjoyed their margaritas as well.

Yelp
A popular Mexican choice located in the heart of Chelan on the main drag. It's loud in here and the hosts are unwelcoming but our server was friendly and the portions are huge! We all took half our meals home. The margarita was meh- tasted like a mix. Tomatillo salsa is delish!

Yelp
So this place was probably one of the worse restaurant experiences we have ever had. Unfortunately, first off we come to Chelan every year about 20-30 of us for the past 12 years. This night there was about 11 of us eating here. My son who can't really eat everything ordered pizza down the way while we were seated. I ordered his pizza and came back to the restaurant with our family. He had the pizza next to him. The short, older Hispanic waitress told my son. A kid to leave. I said "I will just hold his pizza on my lap until after we are done eating". She says "no he needs to leave". I said - you're not telling my son a kid he needs to leave a restaurant. I said "I will put the pizza in the car until we are done eating" She says"very mean and with a crazy look - don't you dare disrespect me! I was like HUH?! I'm going to put it in the car. She continues to say - something about we will all have to leave. It was the craziest thing ever!!! We had other family down the street at the park so I took my son over there until his brothers and little cousins finished eating because they ate little I wasn't about to make them get up and leave the restaurant when they were hungry. I will never ever go back. We have NEVER EVER HAD BAD SERVICE ANYWHERE IN LAKE CHELAN!! It was the most disrespectful waitress I've ever had anywhere. The fact that she told a kid to get out the restaurant because he unfortunately can't eat is hat was on the menu at their restaurant. So like always we order him something different like we have been since he was a toddler! Now the Mexican restaurant around the corner FONDA was the best customer service we have ever had! We went there 2 days before this place. I hate leaving such bad reviews but that was terrible experience for food that wasn't even that good. It was extremely hot, we had just finished a long day of boating and jet skiing so this experience was unfortunate.

Yelp
Really tasty Mexican food to be had here. Nice big menu full of classic dishes, prepared excellently. Light on heat, so if want it extra spicy, ask for it. Service was exceptional too. We'll be back!

Yelp
Dined with large group of family for dinner. The place was busy and loud. The restaurant has two floors for dining. We were seated promptly. Complimentary chips with sauces were served along with waters. Drinks ordered: Mimosarita House Lime Margarita 20 oz. Blended flavored margarita Pacifico Regular traditional margarita Guava blood orange Rita Entrees ordered (comes with rice and beans): Marcela's combo Grande combo Chimichangas Enchiladas rancheras Camarones Al Fuego Camarones Al mojo de ajo Nino cheese quesadilla For dessert: Churros Fried ice cream Entrees were brought out promptly and not too long a wait. We all enjoyed our meals. My entree, the Chimichangas were served very hot. And the desserts are huge. We had to share it l because there's no way one person could finish them; they satisfied our sweet tooth craving after eating Mexican food for sure! Staff is nice and attentive. Street parking only.

Charles H.

Yelp
This place is a gem. The service and ambiance were good. We enjoyed the Mexican music and artwork on the walls. We were brought chips that were fresh, hot and served with freshly made red and green salsa. The rest of our order was excellent. Don't miss it if you visit Chelan.

Yelp
Food was fantastic, margaritas were delicious! Excellent service and friendly staff!

Jessica H.

Yelp
As Chelan locals, Marcella's has been our favorite lunch and dinner spot for the past ten years! Right now, my absolute favorite menu item is the loaded tortilla soup, paired perfectly with a top-shelf margarita. My husband can't get enough of the shrimp tacos with a corona Rita. Beyond the incredible food and drinks, the atmosphere is always warm and welcoming. Whenever our friends and family come to visit, Marcella's is the first place we take them, and it never disappoints! We love it when we get to see Marcella --she has a way of making every customer feel special. We Highly recommend Marcella's to anyone looking for great food and even better hospitality!

Paula G.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful! We were on a holiday and took local recommendations and were more than pleased. It was beyond what we anticipated. Being from the south, we love our Mexican food and honestly didn't know if we'd enjoy what Washington had to offer. We were wrong and it was truly delicious. Our servers were so good and went above and beyond. Don't hesitate, go!

Steve B.

Yelp
The service was good. The food was pretty typical of a Mexican restaurant that caters to American tastes. The Margaritas were just drinkable, nothing special. I would recommend it if you are craving Mexican food.
google avatar

Philip S.

Yelp
Known the owner for many years and have always liked their food. Always warm and welcoming towards me and my family. The food is full of flavor and comforting, especially during the cold season. Highly recommend if you looking for some good local Mexican food in Chelan!

Angele N.

Yelp
Omg!!! The chili relleno the pork tacos, the margaritas... Karen is an awesome server!!

Yelp
Both hands up to the staff for being awesome! My family and I came here on Thursday after spending the morning at the water slide park up the street and we were starving! We inhaled the chips and salsa several times until our food came and when our main dishes came it was game over lol. I had shrimp and mushrooms in a cream sauce which was yummy! Hubs had bean enchiladas and we ordered potato tacos for my son. We really enjoyed the chips and salsa! I should've asked if I can buy some of the salsa in a jar, what a shame cuz im craving it right now :( My son was loud and all over the place when we came here but the staff was so nice and quick with napkins and extra water, they were attentative and like I said both hands up to the staff for being on point. Next time I'm in Chelan I'm definitely gonna eat here!

Regina C.

Yelp
The food was awful! Our food was cold, no ice in our water, our drinks were watered down, and the fajitas were a greasy mess! Don't eat at this place!

Yelp
Stopped here for late lunch after a long and busy morning. We were seated right away and then completely ignored for the most part as a couple of large 8 tops made their way in. The chips and salsas were honestly the stars of the meal. The Enchilada Mole was just blah. The mole sauce had no flavor whatsoever and was just so bland. I had to ask for grilled jalapeños and their spicy habanero salsa to make it palatable. The rice and beans too had no flavor whatsoever. My wife got the veggie burrito loco. It was massive but under-seasoned and again, extremely bland and flavorless. I've eaten a ridiculous amount of Mexican food in my life all the way from super authentic to trashy fast food variants and the one thing they have never been is bland, so this was very disappointing. Overall the prices are steep, the portions are massive but very flavorless and the service is negligible. I'd pass on this place.

Yelp
This was one of the places open late in Chelan, and we wanted to give this Mexican restaurant a try. They get you started with Chips and 2 dips, and give refills as well, when you need them. Their chips were so yummy that we kept eating them until our food came, and it took quite a while for us to get our food as they were very busy when we went. We ordered the Pollo al Carbon, Cactus Salad, and Veggie Fajitas (it comes with flour or corn tortillas). Their quantities are really huge and especially the Veggie Fajitas we ordered could easily feed 2 people and it tasted good as well. The cactus salad was average and the Pollo al Carbon wasn't up to the mark, wish they used whole chicken instead of processed chicken and it was quite bland for us. Maybe we visited them on a bad day, would give them another try to see how their more famous dishes are.
google avatar

Erika M.

Yelp
More 3.5 than 4, but worth a visit. I shared the parillada fajita with my husband. The dish included Carne Asada, chicken, chorizo, and bacon wrapped shrimp. Definitely enough to share. Our dish was missing the carne asada but when we told our waitress she took care of it immediately. The menu was a bit on the pricey side for Mexican. The chips and salsa were delicious and the restaurant staff and ambiance were extremely welcoming and family friendly. If you are in Chelan and strolling on Main Street, stop by and give them a try.

Chris H.

Yelp
Had the Tuesday special (burrito bowl) OMG, more food than you can put into the biggest tortilla in the world. Equally delicious. Pork is cooked to perfection. Waiter very attentive, answered our questions, prompt with water, food and check. Nice ambiance with all the pictures and Mexican art. Has a "hole in the wall" feel that suits this restaurant nicely. If you like Mexican food as much as I do, stop here!!!

Yelp
We were going through Lake Chelan at lunchtime and decided on Marcela's Cocina. It's on the main drag in town and flanked by other businesses set up for the bustling tourist traffic. Most of us Western Washington types come here to get the green mold off of us from the incessant wet weather. This place is a typical Mexican place with most of the standard menu items you find all over. I had chicken enchiladas which were good but not rave worthy. Mama got her standard order of fajitas (I can't get her to stray from it). The portions were decent size also we did not feel underfed. Prices are up all over so it wasn't cheap but it was good. We might go back in the future.

John T.

Yelp
Used to be a place to get good food, good service at a fair price. Things have degraded over time. We're locals and look forward to the off-season when things are less crowded and prices more affordable. This past visit was a bit of a last straw. The meal was delivered incorrectly, and that was after being asked twice, and answering twice, and still delivered wrong. The food was also very bland, definitely needed more seasoning. However, the part that bothered me most was paying $23 for two house margaritas. Seriously...$11.50 for a freaking house margarita is ridiculous. Time to look for a new favorite Mexican restaurant.
google avatar

Corah O.

Yelp
Great food and staff (Marcela is amazing). There was a wait, but that means a restaurant is good so we didn't mind. We enjoyed the authentic Mexican cuisine while visiting Chelan!

Samantha T.

Yelp
Avocado salsa was amazing. Service wad quick. The potato tacos were excellent as well.
google avatar

Tiffinie A.

Yelp
We had a lovely dinner that was fresh, fast and delicious. Several people checked on us multiple times, and even though they were very busy, everything came out quickly and with a smile. Carne asada was cooked perfectly and camarones mojo de ajo were flavorful and plentiful. We were in and out so quickly we made it to the movie two doors down with time to spare! Great choice this weekend.

Jess S.

Yelp
The place has really changed..menu, food, effort. Very juvenile appearing menus, small portions. Theres a good chance we won't return.
google avatar

Nathan A.

Yelp
Best chimichanga I've ever had. Highly recommend. Plus the service was wonderful! The owner herself was very pleasant and attentive to the customers. A great spot to stop while in downtown!
google avatar

Shilpa S.

Yelp
Super friendly and sweet staff! Food was delicious. GET THE CHURROS! We grabbed takeout bc kids were tired. The kids got chicken strips w/fries (it was a HUGE portion, enough for 2 kids) and churros. We got the Toriador w/beef and an enchilada combo with one verde and one mole. All the food was delicious and fresh. The shredded beef items had huge chunks of shreddable beef. It also came with chips and salsa and their green salsa was amazing! The churros were some of the best I've had in years - it came with 3 sauces, chocolate, caramel, and strawberry - it was sooooooo delicious! Will definitely be back.

Rod M.

Yelp
We had high hopes for this restaurant, unfortunately it was disappointing. We waited like 40 minutes for the food to get ready, which was not so bad, since they were busy and near their closing time. We got the food to go, and when we got home there were no tortillas, which was an issue, since we had 2 orders of fajitas. So back to pick those up. Just a simple sorry for the mistake. The food was cold by the time I returned. Sad that they did not offer something for our extra time and gas back and forth. The food was pretty good. Probably would be better if we could have ate it when it was hot. Check your order before you leave.

Patty M.

Yelp
Excellent food and drinks, very attentive staff will definitely be the only Mexican lace we go to in Chelan
google avatar

Yvonne V.

Yelp
During a trip in Chelan my hubby and I wandered into Marcelas for lunch and were definitely glad we did. The food was simple but absolutely delicious. Hubby had the spicy shrimp cocktail (which I make pretty regularly) but this one was served hot and he loved it anyway. I had the veggie chimichangas and they were perfectly crispy and topped with all the fixings that made it fabulous. I would've given it another star but the margaritas were kind of weird and super salty. I didn't realize margaritas were "their thing" here until after lunch and reading some other reviews. We were never given a margarita menu and just ordered one blueberry and one mango. Tasted like someone added too much salt by accident so it was almost unpalatable. Other than that this place is a gem.
google avatar

Frank D.

Yelp
We ate inside and the tables were distanced. There seemed to be a lot of seating upstairs because we saw the waitstaff constantly carrying food up a steep stairway. We had eaten here in late October 2020 and enjoyed it so we decided to come back. We had Molcajete Dos which is served in a synthetic molcajete dish like you would use to grind corn. The chicken was a bit overdone and the beef was a bit tough but the flavors were great. We learned quickly to put the 2 large peppers aside because they were very spicy. The margaritas were well made. Service was slow and we went through 2 bowls of chips before our food came. I suspect they were short staffed because it was early in the season, midweek and pandemic restrictions were still in effect. The bar was still closed. I would come back again in the future but at the moment it is nothing really special.
google avatar

Brenda M.

Yelp
Food is super bland ordered the camarones chipotle and it has 0% chipotle flavor. I also ordered the nachos and the beef was the only thing with flavor. As for drinks the tamarind margarita has no tamarind flavore and was super super strong. The mimosarita was so gross. Absolutely nothing drinkable. If you are looking for authentic mexican please don't come here!
google avatar

Brian S.

Yelp
Lety is a great server, attentive and funny. Food selection is good, always hot and fresh. Bucket drinks are yummy and reasonably priced.
google avatar

Gregory B.

Yelp
Great pretty authentic Hispanic food on main drag in Chelan. Inside not too big, and I like that. Mostly booth seating. Prompt service all the way around. I did a pork poblano enchilada dish. Brought out pretty quick. The mole sauce was excellent, just the right amount of heat to make it interesting, but not overpowering. My only nit was the obligatory Mexican rice was pretty dry and not too interesting. I wish restaurants like this would amp up the interest in this side dish, it would help the whole plate. For dessert I had the Apple empanada and a really delicious little coffee drink I think was called Avion Espresso Coffee. Wonderful ending to the meal. Reasonable prices making the price/value ratio good!
google avatar

Sheryl H.

Yelp
So good and fresh! This is California quality Mexican food. The refried beans alone are worth the visit. Carne Asado Tacos are amazing. Fresh, moist and tasty. So happy to have found this place. And the staff is super friendly!
google avatar

Surya R.

Yelp
Must try place for vegans if you are in the area. They have many options and they were delicious as well. Also great margaritas!
google avatar

Cynthia S.

Yelp
Pros: They had vegan options!!! Thank you! Had a wonderful burrito. The service was fast and friendly! Prices were fair. Everyone seems to really like their food and drinks. Cons: it was loud, but that was probably because they were busy.

Marla M.

Yelp
Nice location in downtown Chelan. The plates were large and visually appealing but the food was bland. The "shredded" beef in the enchilada was mushy. The rice and beans were ok but the enchilada and chile relleno were flavorless. We were very disappointed.

Luke H.

Yelp
Pretty good. Can't mess up the Carne asada. Bohemia beer too. Decent service., always clean.
google avatar

BJ O.

Yelp
We have visited this spot many times over the years and absolutely love the food, ambiance, and friendly wait staff. It's traditional Mexican food with legit spice. The salsa is the bomb! You definitely can't go wrong here!!!
google avatar

Nila S.

Yelp
Best Mexican food, great downtown Chelan location! Always get good customer service there, love their staff and community involvement as a local!
google avatar

Ronda B.

Yelp
This was our second time at Marcla's. We returned after having had a good meal a couple of months ago. Once again the food was good BUT!!! When walking to the restroom, past the kitchen I was pretty disgusted. First passing the area where servers pick up food to deliver to tables, our waiter was standing there eating his dinner AND LICKING HIS fingers as he picked up a plate to serve. Then, passing the area more open to the back of the kitchen the floor was utter filth. We had arrived as they opened at11ish am. It had obviously not been cleaned from the prior day. Totally littered with scraps of food. Horrific.
google avatar

Stacey K.

Yelp
The best Mexican food in Chelan by far. There is usually a bit of a wait, but it's worth it. The food is fresh and delicious, and the atmosphere is fun. The service is great. I highly recommend!

Abby P.

Yelp
I got the shrimp enchilada, and it was absolutely delicious! Packed with tons of fresh ingredients. The staff was very accommodating to my many requests and made me a virgin hibiscus cocktail.
google avatar

Sonia S.

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants--if not my favorite--in Chelan! I went to Marcela's with my family (and have been here many times before), and we were immediately seated on a Saturday night. The waiters and workers were friendly and warm, and we were served complimentary chips and salsa. The atmosphere is loud and bustling, and music plays in the background to give this place an upbeat vibe. The place is also clean and surprisingly modern upon entry. Regarding food, there are a ton of options. From burritos, fajitas, burrito bowls, tacos, to enchiladas, there is definitely something for everyone. I ordered a Vegetarian Burrito Bowl (you can add meat if you ask!) while my parents and sister ordered Fish Tacos and Tacos El Carbon. Prices are reasonable for the huge portion size! Flavors are definitely there, and I enjoyed the entire meal. Overall, Marcela's is a great, clean restaurant that serves large portions of delicious Mexican food. I always come home with leftovers. I highly recommend, and I'll definitely be coming here in the future (as I always do when visiting Chelan!).
google avatar

Jason C.

Yelp
One of the better Mexican food restaurants in the state. It has the somewhat standard west coast American Mexican menus, but all of the items are fresher and higher quality than the norm for Washington State. (If you are looking for a more unique menu Fonda Oaxicana is also good but less consistent than Marcela's.) Drinks are also good, as is the atmosphere.
google avatar

Anna S.

Yelp
The food here was *chef's kiss* so. good. We got the...look, now I don't remember because it was so tasty I forgot to tuck away the names of things in my memory. The carne asada (some plate with steak) and the camerones chipotle (the STAR - get this!!), both were delicious. Service was friendly and efficient, and we got seated no problem. Next time we're in Chelan, I wouldn't hesitate to come back!! Not a *five star* place because the fruity margaritas - while yummy - barely had any tequila (which might be a pro for some people, but I like to taste my tequila a bit for a ~$10+ drink). The chips/salsa were also meh and on the first round we only got crumbs. That said, you're going for the FOOD, right?! Get that food. It is so good.
