"Marcello’s dark interior feels like that of a lively, traditional Italian restaurant, but there are surprising departures from the red sauce model coming out of the kitchen. The osso bucco swaps the veal for a tower of pork shanks, served atop a bed of garlic-infused creamy mashed potatoes. Instead of tomato sauce, the dish arrives smothered in a Dijon-Chianti cream sauce, finished with jalapenos in lieu of the standard gremolata. But purists should not be worried — those looking for Italian staples like pasta, calzones, and tiramisu will have come to the right place." - Barb Gonzalez

Beautiful atmosphere , kind service. However, all of the food was awful. I usually don’t leave poor reviews, but I’m trying to save another family from spending well over $200 on bland food. The spaghetti, fettuccini Alfredo, as well as the clams appetizer - all water based. Everything tasted like water and no seasoning or flavor . I was surprised beyond belief considering the other reviews. The clams had sand particles or dirt particles on the clams still as well. To be honest, the frozen meals of fettuccini at the store (Marie calendars frozen meals) have more flavor than the meals we ordered tonight. Super disappointed, however the service was excellent. We ordered the cheesecake Togo- supposed to be raspberry cheesecake however it was blueberry cheesecake with a container of raspberry puree. Definitely won’t be back , sadly. 😕

The atmosphere and food were great but the service we received from Mary was terrible. Forgot half the food we ordered, didn’t refill our drinks, ignored our table the whole time. Then had the audacity to add gratuity of 20% to our bill for only 6 people. She did not fulfill even the most basic of duty’s for a waitress, let alone give any resemblance of “great service” that a tip is meant to reward.

My husband and I often visit Marcello's Restaurant for special occasions. We always choose to dine in the bar, with a mellow vibe, romantic lighting and jazz music. The bar is gorgeous, and Cory, a mixologist and great server. This midweek we utilized their small group room for a birthday gathering of nine people. Service was super, delivering drinks, then appetizers of cheesy bread and calamari, then fabulous meals at just the right speed. Their wine selection is endless, but the house red wine is super; I had cabernet sauvignon. Arrive at 4:30 for happy-hour pricing. Their salmon is moist, melt in your mouth fabulous. Others had very generous servings of chicken marsala, fettuccine alfredo, raviolis and more. We thank them for accommodating my small wheelchair. Marcello’s never disappoints. For dessert, we shared some Tiramisus, made in-house, that was superb. Thanks again to the staff.

Google
We ordered the Penne Carbonara, which tasted exactly like Chicken Marsala, minus the chicken. While too sweet, and not what we ordered, the dish was tasty and we enjoyed it. Carbonara is one of the five classic Roman pasta dishes- a few select ingredients and the specific technique make or break the dish.

Google
I ordered the 4 cheese pesto ravioli and my fiancé ordered the kids salmon and veggies. The ravioli was chewy and bland. The salmon was burnt and the veggies were basically raw. I got 6 ravioli for $24 and the salmon dish was $18. Definitely won't be going back or recommending to anyone. If you want some good food, check out 🔥Extreme Meltz🔥 in Bend!

It was our last night in Sunriver after an incredible family trip to Ashland for shows and then here, for exploration and leisure. Our waiter was kind and knowledgeable and our meal was delicious and memorable. We ordered Osso Bucco, Salmon Picatta and the Mediterranean Calzone! Amazing! Of course, the wine, Tiramisu and Spimone were lovely!

It's been a while since I've been to an Italian restaurant and I was hoping this would be a reason I would like to give Italian food another try since my last experience wasn't pleasant. I am pleased to say my experience with Marcello's was great! We ordered the Salmon Piccata and it was delicious! The house bread was also very good and in my opinion it was better than the Garlic Bread. The service was friendly and checked in with us at the right time for drink refills or food. We were very full and satisfied.

If you’re in a hurry, maybe don’t stop here. But if you have time and a hankering for some yummy Italian food, definitely put this on your list. For a time reference, we were seated at 630 and left right at 9 after starters, salads, and the main course. Luckily we weren’t in a hurry and it allowed us to settle and enjoy our bottle of wine.

Yelp
A true hidden gem. Drove in from Bend to enjoy this spot in solitude a midst the madness of Memorial Day weekend. I walk in 5 min after they open. The first served. Greeted cheerfully and I opted to sit at the bar. Which is like stepping into a scene in the godfather, dimly lit but not too dark, jazzy old tunes playing. 10/10 recommend. Cory was the bartender, very friendly and helpful, I asked what drink would pair well with the pasta special. I'm a whiskey guy, or red wine. I opted for his old fashioned and was not disappointed. Order: Old fashioned Spicy meatballs: The spice does not overpower the flavor. But it comes close. Perfecto. Pasta special. Portobello mushroom stuffed ravioli with a shiitake garlic crème sauce with ground leg of lamb mixed in. The choice to put the lamb in the sauce rather than the ravioli is, the right choice. The mushroom blend offered so much flavor. The dish was very rich. But I wanted every bite. Now I'm sitting here. Satisfied. Side note: if you want to see the chef shine. Try out their wine dinners. The owner and chef work together to provide a wine tasting/pairing evening. It's well worth your time. Thank you Marcellos! Thank you!

Yelp
Not sure why this place got bad reviews. I had the angel hair pasta with scallops and my husband had steak. Both were delicious and the service was good.

Trina H.

Yelp
Dinner was excellent. The halibut was perfectly cooked and flaky. The arrabbiata was spicy but good and the meatballs were a nice addition to the dish. The bread with the olive oil and balsamic was delicious. We sat out on the patio and it was a sweet little area. We would recommend visiting if you are looking for a good Italian restaurant.

Jeffrey R.

Yelp
Marcello's presents itself as fine Italian dining, with a nice ambience and warm, inviting decor; but unfortunately the food is pretty mediocre (and really not all that authentic). Peas and a garlic cream sauce for a "Carbonara"? Come on... what is this, O.G.? I ordered the special for the day, which was halibut, crab, and brie, served with angel hair pasta. The seafood was all cooked okay, but it was all rather bland -- nothing exciting. I was looking forward to a little richness from the brie, but I really couldn't find any. One thing I will say is that I have had the Penne Arribiata here before, and it does have a spicy kick to it, and the penne was cooked just right. But other than the spiciness, the flavors weren't very memorable.

Jake S.

Yelp
TLDR: For ~$100 for two, this meal was one to forget. For what we paid, the food was not worth it. Food: 2/5 Very meh overall. " The "Carbonara" was a mushroom cream sauce so not what you'd expect. Cheese bread was fine, and the meatballs were just ok. My highlight was the burrata caprese, but thats pretty hard to mess up. Service: 4.5/5 very friendly wait staff. They were fairly attentive, and didnt take too long between visits.

Yelp
We dined here last weekend. I made reservations online for 7:00 on Saturday which required giving my credit card number; I didn't love that but I did it. We arrived ten minutes early and were seated right away and water had luckily already been placed on the table. After 15 minutes, someone that wasn't our server brought us bread/oil/balsamic which was delish. Wish I had wine to enjoy with it though. At 7:10, our server finally came and took our drink order. At 7:20, thirty minutes after arrival, we got our drinks. Kind of a bummer but in their defense, we did arrive a little early. I had the pork osso bucco and it was pretty good and a ton of food. I took an entire second meal home with me. My BF had the lasagna and said it was pretty good too. He also took half home. All in all, a decent meal but I guess just not the overall experience that I'd hoped it would be.

John M.

Yelp
Marcello's is a staple in Sunriver. I've been coming here since the 80's. The food is always great and so fresh, the service is friendly, and the Italian ambiance gives off a comfortable vibe. They have a great bar next door.

Jess F.

Yelp
We read the reviews on google before we checked yelp. Yelp reviews have it correct. It was fine. We were visiting Sunriver last week and we're excited to go here from the google reviews but once we got there, our experience was not as expected and we will not be returning when we visit again. Pros: The food was fine. The decor was fine. Cons: The service was difficult. We had a table of six but one ticket. Ordered two appetizers, one tea, and three sodas. The special request was lemon slices for the drinks and no mushrooms in the osso bucco. Both were ignored and we didn't see much of anyone after we were served. The food is... odd and The plating is not appetizing. The chicken fettuccini pesto, for instance. The chicken was cubed up into little diced pieces with no sear. We thought it was tofu at first glance. The osso bucco came out bone-up like the neck of a giraffe, dripping of a sickly purple sauce, circled with a tutu of mashed potatoes and limp, unseasoned vegetables. The spicy meatballs were so dense if they are house-made they mix the meat with an industrial Hobart and scoop each out with a melon baller. Also, they are served pre-cut... which probably saves on the need for a steak knife to cut through those solid balls. I had the pesto cheese ravioli with grilled salmon. The salmon was delicious, but the ravioli was thick pasta with minimal cheese filling. The pasta was so thick. I did not understand why there was so much pesto sauce. There was at least a full cup of sauce for four ravioli. It was just odd. The taste was fine, it was not fine dining. The price was fine dining. My ravioli and salmon was $38. Please do not pay this price for this food. It was not fine Italian cuisine. But it filled us so there's that.

Elwood B.

Yelp
Best place in Sunriver for a nice dinner, and a bottle of wine. It won't break your wallet either. Very friendly staff, and awesome food. The minestrone soup is the best around.

Craig A.

Yelp
Not as good as previous visits. Had the steak special and wife had Alaskan halibut special. Halibut pretty good. Poor quality steak. Underdone for medium and only half of the 12oz were good. Lots of fat and gristle. Vegetables were tasty. For some reason the steak was served on top of the mashed potatoes. Very good margarita. E Extra dinner salad was plentiful with good vinaigrette. I consider the meals overpriced for a so-so dinner.

Stephen C H.

Yelp
Just had the happy hour dinner and it was quite good. The cheesy bread is to die for. House red is smooth with a good finish. Wife had the cheese ravioli as did I but I had it with white sauce while hers was with Marinara sauce. Both excellent. Cory, our server was prompt and friendly. We are locals and have eaten here many times with excellent results. We appreciate how picky folks are about Italian cuisine so order what you like. We have never experienced the poor service some people reviewed so not sure about that part.

Barb T.

Yelp
We ordered take-out and it was ready exactly when they said it would be - with everything as requested! While the lasagna was quite tasty, the vegetables with it were a bit weird. Marinara was plain, flourless chocolate cake tasted frozen. Salad Marcelo was good and the large was enough for two. When ordering online, the price seems to increase a few dollars after adding to the cart. Also be advised there is both a "service fee" and a "surcharge" in addition to the tip request. Think I'll pass on this restaurant the next time I'm in Sunriver.

Jim B.

Yelp
12 days camping, decided on our last night before heading home would go out for a nice meal. Wife wanted Italian so off we went From the moment we arrived until walking out the door, we were treated to the most outstanding service. The girls were busy as can be, but with a sincere friendly manor, they made you feel special. The food, well from the melt in your mouth fresh bread, flowed by Eggplant Fritti, spaghetti with meat sauce and Calzone, and finished off with Tiramisu and Snicker pie. I was in overload heaven. Our server was Crystal and accompanied by a seamless staff which all were attentive and on top of it Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Buzzy B.

Yelp
Great outdoor seating. Offered protection from the wind. I had the salmon picatta served with pasta and perfectly cooked vegetables. The sauce was very lemony and had the right amount of capers. Unfortunately the salmon was so dry I could only eat about 1/2z He had the Pollo Marsala served with mashed potato's and vegetables. His was very flavorful and cooked perfectly. The bread served first was also very fresh and served with oil and balsamic vinegar.

Patti K.

Yelp
We had run into a local lady who recommended this for Italian, so we opted to give it a try. We went with a takeout option, so I can't say what the inside is like. I ordered Fettucine Alfredo and added grilled salmon, hubby ordered cheese ravioli, and we both got small salads. We also added tiramisu for dessert. Both salads were great, way more filling and interesting that we thought they'd be. Pastas were SUPER tasty and the salmon was grilled and seasoned perfectly. The tiramisu was light, and was perfect to split. The ordering online process was a little weird, but I got through it eventually. I will say that next time we're in Sun River, we'll probably try it out dining in.

Tamzen C.

Yelp
I had dinner at this restaurant for the first time last night (although my companions were regulars), and it was amazing! I was impressed by the food, ambiance, and friendly staff. We started with the bread and calamari, which were both fantastic. For my entree, I ordered the scallops di mare, and it was outstanding. The restaurant has a family-friendly and unpretentious atmosphere, which made for a comfortable dining experience. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for delicious food and great service.

Kathleen M.

Yelp
The food is excellent. Always warm and very tasteful. We love eating out there. The staff is very accommodating n so polite!

Tara S.

Yelp
Tried Marcello's twice. The first time the service was fun and friendly and it made up for the average food. Can't say the same about the second visit. Took forever to just get a drink order in and felt like our server kept forgetting us. Meal took forever. With average food that is overpriced (even for Sunriver) just can't recommend this place.

Heather S.

Yelp
This is one of our go to spots when we come to Sunriver. Everyone in my family has some thing they love to get here. This is not the restaurant to go to if you want a quick get in and get out experience. But we love coming back for every visit. The food is good and the ambiance is great.

Brady B.

Yelp
Food was cold, they apparently do not know what carbonara is. Took an hour to take our order, and another to get our food. However the decor is nice.

ScottShelli P.

Yelp
Always expect great food and a welcoming atmosphere at Marcelo's and this visit didn't disappoint! Just a great way to spend an evening!

David M.

Yelp
What has happened to this establishment? Poor poor service, less than mediocre food. As a local to the area, I could never recommend this restaurant to anyone. So sad.

alexander m.

Yelp
Over the last four years, my wife and I frequently dine at Marcello's while we are vacationing in Sun River. The cocktails are great, love the wine selection as well as the food. We relax and enjoy our evening there. This past Saturday night, we went there with our entire family -- 10 adults and six children. They sat us and adult table and children table at our request. We were fortunate enough to have Lee as our server and she was just fantastic with both tables. We all had a terrific time complete with cocktails, salads, entrees and wine. Lee made suggestions that helped keeped the kids occupied and fed well! We look forward to returning to Marcello's at a minute's notice And Lee, Thank You Alex Merola

Melissa C.

Yelp
Just got done with dinner and it was amazing. I had the special which was halibut, topped with Dungeness crab and shiitake mushrooms, in a light cream sauce. The halibut was cooked beautifully and the fresh shiitake mushrooms were genius. I'll definitely be back.

Michelle B.

Yelp
Great food and great service with a nice atmosphere I would recommend a reservation as it is popular! I would return again!

Lynda M.

Yelp
Best Italian food in Bend Britney was such a delight the best server the food and drinks the desert melted in our mouths will definitely be back

Travis T.

Yelp
4.5 stars, but I'll round up. Came here the night after Valentine's Day. Promptly seated and given water. I brought a bottle of wine and the server quickly opened and poured it into a decanter for us. Only $15 corkage fee! Next they brought out delicious warm bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I could have eaten 3 orders of it! We ordered the calamari for a starter. Light crisp breading, came with marinara and Dijon dipping sauces. I preferred them without the sauces. For our main course, my gf and I both ordered the Filetto which is an 8-ounce filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes and vegetables. The steaks were good, although my gf's was closer to rare than the medium rare she requested. For dessert we ordered the mixed berry cheesecake. Large slice, but very light and fluffy. I'd recommend everything we ordered. The osso bucco looked really good and I'll probably try that next time. Overall great date night, fast and friendly service, and great food!

Sonya R.

Yelp
Family owned Italian restaurant in the heart of Sunriver was a great restaurant to spend a spe ial evening. We had the pesto ravioli with chicken and a Ceasars salad with grilled salmon. Both were fabulous dishes with fresh baked bread.

Helen L.

Yelp
Our dinner at Marcello's was fabulous! With my Linguini & Clams I wasn't sure if there was any linguini since the portion of clams was the most generous I've ever seen. Service was excellent, highly recommend!

Glen G.

Yelp
Had to wait to be served 2 hours after arriving. Food was ok at best. I'd be embarrassed if I were the owner. Recommend a hard pass.

Kindra N Chris K.

Yelp
Mediocre, pretty bland dinner wasn't what I was expecting. Maybe it was an off night...it's definitely worth trying again. The Alfredo sauce was very bland, and the chicken Caesar had very minimal flavor and dressing. Server was friendly, a nice intimate setting, however the tables do seem to be over abundant and crowded in the back dining room making it hard to not be distracted by the noise of other customers, and your dates voice drowned out by all the noise.

Kari C.

Yelp
Small restaurant, big flavor. I'm still dreaming about our meal here. A great date night spot. Yummmy!

Zack B.

Yelp
Really nice Italian food. Good wine list. They're working hard despite the headwinds. I'd recommend to anyone looking for something better than pub grub. Be patient. These are nice people making good food and serving nice wine -- sometimes slightly slower than ideal. But right now, that's about all you can ask for. And it's tasty.

Bill D.

Yelp
Our new favorite restaurant in Sunriver! The service was fantastic, establishment was spotless and the food. Wow! Their house bread was fantastic and the Scallop Pasta was decadent to say the least. You end up leaving comfortably full and looking forward to going back in your next visit to Sunriver. Highly suggest reservations.

Jonathan C.

Yelp
The service was OK. We had a reservation for 8pm and they sat us without wait. However, we felt rushed by the server who brought our entrées minutes after bringing our first course. The presentation made the food look delicious. The food itself, was disapointingly mediocre. The butter wine sauce was underseasoned and watered down. Same with the sauce that came with the capallini and scallops. The salad was a step above a grocery store kit. Not many choices in this neck of the woods, but this was not a good one.

Emma W.

Yelp
Yum! Ordered the penne carbonara and tiramisu and they were both delicious. Definitely come on an empty stomach you'll want to lick the plate clean until you're stuffed. Great atmosphere too, feels like you're in italia

Neil O.

Yelp
Seated at 6:30, no one came to say anything for a good 20 minutes. Food was average, but for the prices, you would expect to be taken care of, checked on at the very least. Wouldn't recommend, bummed we spent our one dinner in Sunriver here. Though we did pick a great bottle of wine!

Dave K.

Yelp
I'm new to the area and have only done take-out here, so I can't speak to the indoor dining experience, but I can speak to the food quality and the take-out service. I've ordered here online, and while they app they rely on is a little clunky, it's effective and it even lets you pick the time you'd like to pick your food (in 20-minute blocks). Food-wise, it's great. We've had the spaghetti & meatballs, the caeser salad, and the lasagna and thus far everything has been superb. It does crowded and they use the same phone number for pickup as for everything else so it can be a bit scary when it's jammed, you're waiting, and the phone rings on endlessly -- but it's all worth it.

Third Y.

Yelp
This is a great place! We ordered the caesar salad, eggplant fritti, and pizza. We had tiramisu and cheesecake for dessert. Tiramisu was really good; cheesecake just ok. But overall, the food came out promptly and was delicious. Our server was excellent. We would go back here.

Meghan H.

Yelp
(I made this review a few weeks after my visit) I made a reservation for me and my boyfriend for Tuesday night here at 7. We were unfortunately 20 minutes late & were still sat, table ready with waters. The ambiance of the restaurant is beautiful. Dim lighting, brick walls & classic Italian decor. The restaurant may seem a bit small at first but they have several seating areas further into the building, including a back patio & bar as well. Our server was very nice, I unfortunately do not remember her name. She gave us just enough time with the menu & helped us with some lovely wine pairings for our meal. We ordered the Filet Mignon & the Pollo alla Romana entrees, both were outstanding. The Filet was cooked perfectly, & the gorgonzola cream sauce coated everything nicely without being too rich. We took the Tiramisu to-go & it was lovely- the chocolate top adds body & richness to the dessert. I should note that his restaurant serves seasonal vegetables with their pasta dishes, which I don't believe adds anything to the meals. It's not a very traditional pairing, & I would rather have more pasta without the veggies. I would definitely recommend visiting here, in fact we already have since this first visit. This has quickly become a regular spot for dinner for my partner and I.

Kelsey H.

Yelp
I want to apologize for the low review because certain staff members were on their game, like the manager and assistants. Unfortunately, those excellent service members did not make up for that evening's unappetizing "special." It's hard to recommend a food place if the food isn't that great. I selected the halibut and there was no flavor. The plate under the fish tasted more like water than a sauce. The little shrimp topping was completely unnecessary and--I know--an attempt to make the dish appear fancier and failed. I can't get over how this dish could have no flavor. Salt, garlic, butter, wine; where were you? Nada, but a light fish flavor and water. Our server was kind and attentive initially. Once the food order went in, we didn't see her again. No refills, see if we want dessert--I never leave an Italian restaurant without tasting the Tiramisu--and though the idea of paying our bill with a QR Reader is great, shouldn't we be able to get cell service in that part of the restaurant if we need to use this option? Our server didn't come back to check any of these things. I had to ask the assistant hovering by the bar for refills, the manager for ketchup for my picky eater, and hunt the server down to order dessert and get the bill. Last but not least, the Tiramisu. Everyone likes it a certain way and everyone's grandma makes it differently. Marcello's is more soaked than I prefer. I DO love that they use a sponge cake over Lady Fingers! Although this Tiramisu wasn't my favorite, I'm totally on board with topping my next recipe with chocolate ganache! Two thumbs up for this choice. Sorry for the rest!

Yelp
It was Christmas Eve and we wanted to have a nice dinner. We are always thrilled when we get bread delivered to the table without asking. Even when we're low-carbing, it's very hard to say no to that. We started with Arrancini...they were super cheesy and very good. I figured I'd get pasta, but I ended up with the special - Ribeye and Prawns. It was very tasty, although super buttery (I found that out the next day on the reheat, my steak and potatoes were in a pool of butter)...yes, it tastes good, but man, so rich. I felt kind of sick after both times eating it with all that richness. My husband ended up getting Eduardo's pizza sans olives. He liked it. I'd like to give this place 3.5 stars, but it's not an option, so I'm going to round slightly up.

Linda R.

Yelp
Really nice place ... classier and larger than you'd expect from the outside. Extensive wine selection ... long list of Italian vintages. All three of us enjoyed our dinner selections. Fresh bread with herbed olive oil brought first. At the end of the meal hubby asked our waiter Corey for an "Italian coffee" ... half joking to imply something like Irish coffee or Spanish coffee. Corey considered the request and came up on the fly with a delicious concoction ... coffee with brandy and Frangelico topped with hand-shaken whipped cream. It was great and we suggested it be added to the menu. Thanks for a great evening!

Steve H.

Yelp
Great Italian food and nice atmosphere. We are locals and have eaten here several times. Be sure to make a reservation! Service is excellent and well paced.

Ted E.

Yelp
How this place is at 3.5 stars I do not know...... food fantastic, must get prawn appetizer and soak up that sauce with your bread. Main courses, very very good. Price is inline and a much better value and food than the lodges. Oso Bucco was money, sauce was incredible. Our waitress was very very nice and fun. Thanks for a great evening. Oh, wine list was good and not overpriced.

Larry T.

Yelp
This place should be well int the 4 star in my opinion. Food is very good. Service is good too. I've been there many times.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Very pretentious hostess. Very rude. Walked out feeling most unwelcome. You don't get a second chance to make a first impression. We will never return.

Jennifer M.

Yelp
Excellent food, great ambiance, and customer service. Thad the owner is a super nice person, and always goes above and beyond to make sure customers are happy. He is also in support of Ukraine. Really awesome place!

erok m.

Yelp
I LOVE PIZZA. I hate to say it this is possible the worst pizza I've ever had in my life. Got take out and brought it back and wow, so disappointed. Can't say anything about the rest of the food but don't order pizza here.

Carole S.

Yelp
We 3 all had the halibut special 〰 DELICIOUS !!The staff was very attentive and fun. Next time in Sun River I'll be back
