We absolutely loved dining at Marcello's Italian Eatery—such a local gem! This family-owned restaurant has been a Monroe favorite for years, and even though it’s changed names over time, the quality and care in every dish have never gone away. We started with their incredible fall cocktails, including the fall sangria and a pumpkin cheesecake martini—both were out of this world. For our main course, we tried the cheese wheel pasta, served tableside by one of their talented chefs. Watching them make the sauce and roll the pasta was such a fun and interactive experience! Our table also ordered Nonna's Supper, which included a fresh salad, antipasti, a plate of "Sunday gravy," chicken, potatoes, and perfectly cooked garlic green beans. Safe to say, we were completely stuffed! As if that wasn’t enough, we finished with dessert: an espresso martini flight paired with delicious Italian cookies. Marcello's is a must-visit for Italian comfort food—we’ll be coming back again and again!

Google
A really good spot for Italian food. For starters we had the three cheese appetizers which was absolutely delicious. For my entree I had the veal saltimboca and my girlfriend had the lamb chop Milanese. Both meals were absolutely delicious. For dessert we had the coffee and donuts.

This restaurant is a gem! It has been around for decades within the same family of owners, but has changed names. The restaurant has not changed in quality, many of the old standby dishes are still available, such as my personal favorite, the balsamic calamari which is now called Italian calamari. The staff is wonderful… Attentive, pleasant, and there to make sure you have a great experience. THE CHEESE WHEEL PASTA THOUGH 🥰🥰🥰🥰😋😋😋

My mom and I wanted to try this restaurant. We are glad we did. Everything we ate was beautifully prepared. We tried the chocolate pasta. I know what you are thinking. That’s weird or it would taste like dessert. Well, that’s not the case at all. The pasta itself is infused either cocoa powder. It is unsweetened. For centuries, regions where cacao is grown it was eaten without sweetener. Hence the Mexican mole sauce anyway, if they didn’t call it chocolate pasta, you wouldn’t guess that was the interesting flavor in the background of this elegant pasta dish. The noodles, themselves, were so light. It’s brilliant. You should try it. We also had the sole francese, which was delightfully lemony. Overall, two thumbs up for Marcella’s.

Google
Marcello’s blew us away! We started with the lavender lemonade and bourbon zest — both super refreshing and well crafted. The complimentary bread with garlic oil was such a nice touch, and Mom’s Meatballs were packed with flavor and comfort. For entrées, we had the cheese wheel pasta (such a fun, delicious experience) and the chicken parm over linguini, which was crispy, cheesy, and perfectly portioned. Everything tasted homemade and thoughtful. Service was warm and genuine — you can really feel the pride they put into the food and atmosphere. We left full and happy. Can’t wait to come back!

Marcellos is fantastic. I hadn’t been since it was Carl Anthony’s and so I decided to finally give it a try. The food is flavorful and delicious, I have absolutely no complaints on that end. The service was also on point. It’s probably one of the best Italian spots in Monroe.

The food here is absolutely incredible! The atmosphere is perfect for a romantic dinner, with dim lighting and a stylish, intimate vibe. Their espresso martinis are a must-try, and the crispy calamari is an outstanding appetizer. The menu features their famous cheese wheel pasta, along with a variety of delicious pasta dishes and fresh seafood options like zuppa di pesce and bacon-wrapped scallops. With something for everyone, plus show-stopping desserts, this spot is a dining experience sure to impress!

Google
Favorite Italian restaurant. The food is always fresh and tasty. Marcello's has become our go to spot for all events and night outs. We drive 45 minutes and are never disappointed with the meal or service. The bread with garlic, yum! We always end with dessert and highly recommendthe in house made lava cake or the coffee and donuts. Highly recommend a trip here for dinner.

Yelp
Formerly Carl Anthony's Trattoria, Marcello's offers a fine menu with traditional Italian fare and a decent wine list. The outside seating is a plus, even with Route 25 traffic in the background. Their soundtrack is a mood piece of Bobby Darin, Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble, etc. The coffee and donuts dessert is (as usual) a home run.

Yelp
My family was very sad when Carl Anthony's closed, but we are very happy that it became Marcello's. My husband and I decided to try it last night and it definitely met our expectations. Many of our favorite dishes are still on the menu, with the addition of the Cheese Wheel Pasta - our new favorite, and many others. It was so tough to choose only one dessert to share because we were so full from dinner and couldn't eat two. Ha ha! It's rare for us to find a place with more than two options we would choose from on a regular basis. The Nutella Ravioli was the perfect dessert. Our only suggestion...add some strawberries on the side. The Nutella can be a tad too sweet (at least for me), and some slightly tart strawberries would even out the flavor. The service was a little slow, but they were understaffed last night, so it was understandable. The staff was very kind and smiling the entire time. Loved the new look inside, especially the deep federal blue walls. When we are in Monroe, we'll be stopping in, for sure!

Yelp
Great menu, great environment, excellent service, awesome food! This kind of says it all! This extensive menu has items that you can't get elsewhere. Last night for starters I had the balsamic glazed calamari with cherry peppers.... O'H BABY! Then the parpadelle with short rib in a vodka sauce topped with burrata... DAT's WHAT I'M TALKIN' BOUT! And chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream. Foggetaboutit!

Yelp
So we drove forty five minutes to go to this place because of the cheese wheel. I have to say it wasn't worth the drive. I have had great fettuccine alfredo. At another restaurant with a cheese wheel and this place did not make an alfredo. They spent more time on this burning alcohol instead of a hot cream sauce and that alcohol left an aftertaste. Also, it was thirty six dollars for a barely medium sized dish of pasta with no salad. The calamari was very good and it was a very large portion as well as the meatballs. The red sauce is very good, but this is one of those restaurants that knitpicks you on costs. They charge four dollars for an ice tea and a refill cost you four dollars again. The glasses of wine are a very small pour, and if you want extra bread, they charge you six dollars. So net net, the place has good food, but it is definitely overpriced.

Yelp
Went for happy hour and will be back for dinner soon! We enjoyed the steak and cheese sliders and a margarita pizza. The rolls are made in house and are hands down the best rolls I've ever had. I will probably have dreams about them. The pizza was also delicious with an amazing sauce, perfect amount of cheese and a delicious crust. I normally don't eat the crust, but I ate every little bite! Service was fantastic and the restaurant is beautiful. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
What an incredible Italian place. If you are looking for a made to order family recipe place this is it. We had the Chef 3 Cheese and sweet & spicy calamari for appetizer. 100% recommended. Each cheese brought a new explosion of flavor. The calamari was fried to perfection and tossed in the most incredible sauce. You can tell how fresh it is. Both one of a kind. For dinner we ordered the gnocchi and zuppa di pesce. The gnocchi you can tell is made to order and the zuppa di pesce was over flowing with fish and flavor. For deserts we ordered the donuts and cannoli Service was great and not rushed. Atmosphere was beautiful and very clean bathrooms. We visit often and are never ever disappointed.

Yelp
We dined at Marcello's Italian Eatery for the first time and had their Brunch Buffet. They have brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30am to 3pm. There were many options and everything was delicious. The restaurant is super inviting and cozy. When you first walk-in, you see the bar and the dinning room is tucked away on the left-hand side. The buffet had French Toast, Sausage, Bacon, Hash Browns, Egg Benedict, Porchetta Roast, Chicken Valdonstana, Salmon Puttanesca, Penne Alla Vodka, Caesar Salad & Autumn Salad. There was even an assortment of desserts from Cannolis, Biscotti, to Pastries. Some of these items are chef's choice and maybe a different line up meats & entrees when you visit. Our server took great care of us and helped identify what foods to avoid at the buffet because of my nut allergy. The penne alla vodka was our most favorite & the salmon was delicious. I loved the chocolate biscotti & cannolis too. We could, of course, go back up to the buffet for seconds, or thirds. Marcello's Italian Eatery is a great spot for any occasion. A great date night or brunch date idea if you are near or love in the Monroe area. I would love to come for diner next.

Yelp
This place is about an hour away from me, so I didn't expect to want to go back. But I'm happy to say I was wrong and will definitely be returning! I was so impressed with everything we had, including some of the best calamari I've ever had! My salmon entree was richer and heavier than I typically go for, but it sounded so interesting I had to try it, and I loved that too! The steak was medium rare as requested (or rare, now I can't recall but it was cooked as ordered). Everything was beautifully presented so it made you want to capture photos of it all, even if you're not a huge foodie like some of us. LOL The space is clean and warm and inviting, and the staff and owners are helpful and knowledgeable and friendly! I can't recommend this place enough! If you are in the area, or willing to drive for a fabulous meal, get here! On Sundays they also have half price bottles of wine, they also have brunch which I can't wait to try one of these days. We all loved our entrees and made sure to order different things to get variety and see what this spot it all about! Go support this small business! They also have live music, happy hour, trivia nights...they've got it all! Oh, and delicious dessert drinks. A bar, tvs, a great patio, need I say more? See my reel on ig: @clinkdrinkeat.ct and give me a follow!

Yelp
Ok, I WAS JUST HERE THE EVENING BEFORE for a Yelp Elite event on June 20th. So impressed was I with that event that I had to detour off I-84 on my way home from NYS. I went back for the Italian Calamari and for some of the same chicken served at the previous day's event. I was planning to take everything home, and just have a beer at the bar. They didn't have the same chicken, so I ordered chicken marsala. Quick change of plans. Had the Italian calamari on-site. I really like calamari, but Marcello's prepared it in a way that I've never experienced before. No marinara, no grated cheese. Instead, in a balsamic vinegar reduction with peppers (banana?). Everything coated in a superb glaze. The huge portion (easily enough for two, unless you're a gavone like me) justifies the $19 price. The chicken marsala was enough for two meals. I'm a huge fan of ch marsala, and NEVER had it prepared this way. In addition to the marsala wine reduction and the mushrooms, there was also evidence of tomato chunks. Not alot... just the right amount to entertain my taste buds. Plus two large, homemade raviolis, stuffed w mushrooms. Someone in that kitchen has got some serious skills!!! I wish Marcello's was closer than 67 miles away.

Yelp
Marcello's Italian Eatery Made My First Visit Ever To Monroe CT An Extremely Pleasant One! One Of The Best Meals I've Had In My Restaurant Travels Across CT! The Place Has A Lovely Ambiance & The Owner Nick Is A Doll! For Starters, Their Italian Calamari Is A MUST TRY- Hands Down The Best Calamari I Have Ever Tasted. For An Entree, I Ordered A NY Strip Cooked Rare With A Side Of Out Of This World Garlic Mashed Potatoes. My Steak Came Out Perfectly Pink Served With The Most Delicious Steak Sauce Ever. For Dessert If You Can't Decide Between The Lava Cake Or Tiramisu- Order Both! You'll Be Glad You Did!

Yelp
Marcelo's is a solid restaurant for an Italian meal in Monroe. The specialty sangria was refreshing and tasty. The bread and garlic on the table was scrumptious. My pasta dish- with the crumbled sausage, beans, and broccoli rabe (cavetelli rapini) was absolutely amazing- very filling, plentiful, flavorful - it's one of my favorite pasta dishes and this one didn't disappoint. My one complaint is that I wish there was another fish dish on the menu besides salmon. The menu is not abundant. It's Simple and I'm sure everything is cooked wonderfully. I just went in thinking I'd get fish but I don't love salmon... No apps, no dessert- 5 drinks total (2 people), and 2 pasta dishes, came to about $120. Foodie instagram @date_night_craves

Yelp
Great menu for happy hour! There are many small bite and drink options (even espresso martini deals!). I tried the meatball sliders and bruschetta. Both were a great size for the price and very tasty. The marinara sauce was a bit sweet for my liking but still good. The bartender was nice and served me quickly. The bar area does have a tv and is a decent size with high top tables as an option as well. The restaurant decor and set up itself was not anything special but it was very clean and sort of classic white table cloth Italian dining room.

Yelp
A story about Marcello's Italian Eatery. Made a reservation in January for tonight, knowing that it would be busy, but planning ahead. Arrived 10 minutes before our reservation and greeted the host, who informed us that no reservation was made, but she would accommodate us. So we sat down at the bar table and waited about 20 minutes to be moved to a table. So far so good, not great, but again, it's a busy night, so we don't say anything. 20 minutes after that we place an order for two glasses of wine and dinner. Another 15 minutes go by and when they come to check on the table, only one wine was brought, I brought it up to the server who said they'd be back with the other glass of wine and more water. We decide to wait, because again, not an asshole and it's a busy night. Fast forward another 30 minutes, no water, no second glass of wine, no apps, no dinner. Asked for the server to cancel our dinner so we can leave and find a place that would actually have some food. The server charges us for the one glass of wine, we give the card to pay for it, even though it was not touched since we were waiting for the second one. Overall, even thought it was a busy night, it was a pathetic experience, don't recommend it to anyone. Two other tables who got there before us also canceled their dinner. Just a heads up in case anyone is thinking of going there over the weekend.

Yelp
I don't know where to start with this review other than it is nothing like Carl Anthony whatsover ! The initial greeting? The lack of customers 90 minutes into opening? The food? Let's start with HELLO! Heard this place had a happy hour that runs from 4 to 6 daily so we went on a Friday. Walked in solo to meet my stud and owner behind the bar asked how he can help me and I said hi, I am here for your happy hour, is it solely at the bar? And a tad bit begrudgingly he said yes, really not a friendly greeting at all. Strike 1! Female bartender comes out and gives me happy hour menu and asked me what I wanted to drink and I asked for drink menu and she gives me a menu with drinks on it with a description of the drinks but most not stating what liquer is in them nor the price-odd but whatever...not strike worthy, I am not inpossible. My date arrives and senses the lack of vibe BUT i tell him let's stick around because although no-one was there other than us on a Friday night at 5:40, there had been about 4-5 take out orders/uber orders so I was really hopeful. Ordered the Italian calamari from the dinner menu which just said fried, sweet and spicy; buffalo wings, fried burrata and a margherita pizza all from HH menu. Food came out and really wasn't eye appealing, still not strike 2. The calamari was good-i found it tasty where as my other half detested it! Texture was right and the flavors were intriguing. The buffalo wings were probably some of the worst I have ever had in terms of flavor and quality-4 miniature wings covered in franks red hot sauce for $9 constitutes as buffalo wings? And to boot, tgey were ice cold!!Here goes strike 2. Bartender asked how it was and I nicely confessed how bad the wings were and that they were cold and she apologized-was not her fault but maybe addressing with owner who keeps on popping up is the right course of action-i am sure she did but he chose not to talk to us rather than give us dirty looks after returning from the back. Strike 3! And as for the pizza, it had no flavor-sauce was bland and overall extremely flat but we weren't expecting Wooster street pizza but even Honeyspot Pizza is even better than this-Strike 4 (yes, blasphemy!) Fried burrata was mediocre at best. Was our first time here and like many other places we like to try their happy hour and a dinner menu item as those are generally indicative of what is ahead and folks, the tunnel is very dark! Would never ever return to happy hour here, which should really be called disappointing hour. As for dinner, no thank you! The owner needs a refresher course on being cordial and welcoming to prospective returning customers. Parking was the best part of this place.

Yelp
We had a good dining experience at this restaurant. I had the bone in veal chop served over carrots and spinach. My girlfriend had the homemade pappardelle. Both of our meals were absolutely delicious. My veal chop was cooked perfectly and the veggies were very good. The homemade pappardelle was delicious according to my girlfriend. For dessert we had the donuts which were a perfect way to end our meal. The donuts were served with some gelato and Nutella. When you dipped the donut in the Nutella with the ice cream; it was a perfect bite. The service was pretty quick and efficient. At the time we went to dinner it was early so the restaurant was not packed. They have a bar area with some dining and live music along with a regular dining room. We sat in the dining room area. The dining area probably needs a bit more light, it is a bit dark but overall we enjoyed our experience and will go back to try other items on the menu.

Yelp
Marcello's in Monroe is in a major shopping mall on Main Street. It was fun to attend my first elite event, and as we entered, everyone was welcoming. The live band sounded amazing and played some great songs. I had the watermelon spritzer which was really good. We had roasted garlic, crostini bread, olive oil, bruschetta, and stuffed mushrooms and then I had to leave early unfortunately. Thank you Alex, Yelp and Marcello's for coordinating this event. I look forward to becoming a Yelp elite and attending more events in the near future.

Yelp
I am hooked I go once a week. Marcello's ranks up there with the best on Wooster St. in New Haven. Haley the manager runs the show and is the best in Ct. Go to Marcello's you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
We have been here several times since it switched from Carl Anthony's. Each time, both service and food have been great! I have not had a bad meal yet. The place ain't cheap though, so plan on that! But, overall, this is a fantastic date night/special occasion restaurant.

Yelp
Went here for takeout on a Saturday. Nice place inside, good atmosphere. Plenty of parking. When I went to pay for my order it seemed much higher than I expected. I knew the prices of what I ordered on the phone but figured the prices must have changed. When I got home I realized that they did not give me what I ordered. I asked for Mom's Meatballs (appetizer) and was given and paid for Mom's Spaghetti (dinner entree). I can't say much for the accuracy of ordering over the phone. The food was quite good, margarita pizza. The spaghetti was OK, meatballs were good but pasta was not al dente - pretty mushy. Sauce was OK. Otherwise staff is friendly, hours are late - opens at 4PM. Prices are pretty high.

Yelp
We honestly haven't been to too many Monroe restaurants, so we were really glad to hear that there was a lot of buzz about the newly opened Marcello's! First of all, I really loved their dining room. It had such a nice ambiance! The bread with roasted garlic to start was tasty, and all of the food we had throughout the evening was great. My fiancé enjoyed his cocktail as well. I really enjoyed their tomato sauce, and the Italian calamari and brick oven garlic parm wings stood out compared to others we've had. Our server was really friendly too. I would definitely come back, and it's nice to know about when we're in the Monroe area!

Yelp
Marcello's is an hour drive for me. Let's just say it was worth the trip! We started with roasted garlic and olive oil for dipping bread. A few of us had Watermelon Coolers to wet our palates. We ordered some tasty small dishes to get us going. Mom's Meatballs, Fried mozzarella, Shrimp cocktail, and Italian Calamari! Delicious! For dinner I went with the Chicken Marsala with wild mushroom ravioli! I enjoyed this immensely! Everyone else selected... Pan roasted salmon with crispy lobster ravioli! Prime N.Y. Strip with roasted garlic mashed potatoes! Penne Alla vodka and buffalo chicken pizza! And don't forget about drinks and dessert! Red velvet cake cocktails and Campfire martinis were the drinks of choice that night. We tried the tiramisu and the chocolate lava cake! This place has an inviting atmosphere and they treated us well. I highly recommend the trip out there. Bravo!!

Yelp
We don't go out to eat often, because I know how to cook and do it well. Both my husband and daughter LOVE parmesan and pasta, so I saw that Marcello's offered the tableside cheese wheel pasta, and made reservations (for a Thursday night at 5:30pm) as a special surprise and treat. We arrived early, and were seated within about 10 minutes of arriving. My daughter ordered the cheese wheel entre ($36), guy who took the order said that it is usually served with linguine, but offered her other types of pasta. She chose penne. My husband ordered the cheese wheel appetizer with linguine (was supposed to be $18 - as told on the phone), and I ordered the braised short rib & mushroom risotto entre. Preface this - we were the only ones in the restaurant the ENTIRE time. After about 15 minutes, the chef heads out to do the tableside service. No welcoming greeting, no conversation - he basically looked pissed to be there. My husband tried asking a few questions about the cheese wheel, but the chef really didn't want to be bothered, so husband stopped talking. I noticed that the portions were very small, and that my husband's portion looked about the same as my daughter's - I assumed that it was because they were different types of pasta. He prepared the penne first, and it came out extremely cheesy. He then did my husband's, and it appeared more fluid and hardly any cheese. My entre arrived just as chef was finishing the pasta. First, the good news - the short rib and risotto dinner was wonderful. The bad news: My daughter's pasta had a really "off" taste and was really strong, my husband's pasta was a little watery and a lot less cheese, but still okay. For $36, we expected a nice portion of pasta. I mean, it's pasta and cheese. When a waitress came over to ask how everything came out, my daughter explained the difference in the two pasta dishes, and that she couldn't really even eat hers - it was too "off". Waitress went into kitchen and returned after a good 5 minutes. Waitress said that the problem with the meal is that the alcohol gets caught in the pasta and doesn't fully burn off, thus the "off" taste. Well, we would have appreciated a heads up on that one - she would have just gotten the linguine. If this is a known problem, why do they offer other pastas with the cheese wheel? Waitress said that my daughter could order something else, but she didn't think she could take the pasta off the bill. Wait, WHAT? My daughter explained that she was excited about the pasta and asked if chef can make her another one - she wasn't looking to get something else. She came for the cheese wheel experience. Mind you - she only had about 3 bites, her plate was still full. My daughter said never mind, if she's going to be charged the $36, she'll just bring it home for me to try to "fix" it. Also reminder - there is absolutely NO ONE else in the restaurant. The chef never came out, even though kitchen was 10 feet from our table. We shared the rest of my meal and my husband's "appetizer". When waitress came back over, she offered us free dessert for the issue. We basically just wanted to pay and leave, but my daughter said that she at least wanted dessert to eat on the way home because she was hungry. When we got the bill, we saw that even the order wasn't placed right. We were charged for 2 cheese wheel entres at $36 each, not one entre and an appetizer as ordered. I've never heard of an experience where there is an issue with the meal, and you are charged, even though you can't eat it. And, if you do order something else, you are still charged for the "bad" one. Poor service, poor attitude by chef. When I pay $100 for pasta, I expect a decent portion and for it to be edible. Never going back.

Yelp
Starting with the service. Halley was our waitress and was very helpful in our selection especially dessert where we didn't need to order two of gelato's one shared was more than enough. The bar didn't have the bloody Mary's mix so I had a gin and tonic. My meal was the ribs and it was cooked beautifully with care and presentation was great. My wife had the veal which was delicious according to her. My appetizer was the clams oreganato which was just spicy enough. Food was prepared with care and the time while being prepared gave us plenty of time to chat and enjoy the restaurant. Dessert was chocolate gelato which was served with cones on top. Negatives: The chairs are very heavy and difficult to manage. Lighting over some tables could be better, and as someone who is colorblind the red menu with black type was difficult and needed a light from my phone to read. Overall experience was great and would definitely recommend the restaurant to all.

Yelp
The food came out cold. We ordered the brick oven pizza but as we were leaving saw that the brick oven wasn't even running. Meaning they advertised brick oven pizza, but then just baked it in a regular oven and said nothing. The rice balls were the only thing that we ordered, which was a yummy treat. I went out with my girlfriends, and we all had four different entrées. Three of us ended up having G.I. issues over the next few days. I gave my husband my leftovers, and even he experienced G.I. issues afterwards also. Cocktails were pretty, but nothing remarkable There was also one server for the whole restaurant on a Thursday night. I do not recommend.

Yelp
Dinner was delicious. We had the cheese wheel pasta and filet mignon specials. I took off a star for the shrimp cocktail app special. We got 4 small, water logged shrimp that appeared to have come out of a bag of frozen shrimp from a grocery store. For the $16 price, I was expecting big, beefy shrimp. Don't order.

Yelp
Food was good , there for a party , Marsala was a little dry. I agree with some of the other Yelpers owner is rude and favors his regular customers instead of trying to acquire new ones , sad thing is our group wasn't demanding at all. Hard pass for me

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Marcello's Italian restaurant in Monroe, Connecticut. It is the perfect place to go for a date night, a lunch with friends or for a family outing! The insalate burrata was one of the best I have ever had. The burrata was super fresh and served with arugula, prosciutto, cherry tomatoes, roasted peppers and vinaigrette. Italian Calamari was a perfect combination of sweet and savory. The penne a la vodka and veal saltimbocca were outstanding - perfectly balanced. I was in two minds if I should order the dessert or not. I am so glad I did. Sharon's magic cookie bar was definitely magical! The beautiful combination of walnuts, chocolate, coconut and vanilla. The food is delicious and hearty. The portions are generous. Even for a weeknight the restaurant was pretty full and now I know the reason why. Ample of parking in the front of the restaurant. My experience at this Italian restaurant was fantastic. The dishes were flavorful, well-prepared, and presented beautifully. The service was attentive and friendly, making for an enjoyable overall dining experience.

Yelp
Sad. Lost Carl Anthony's and what replaced it is not on the same par. Very shoddy service. Came on a Sunday night more servers than customers yet we waited well over an hour for our very average entrees. On top of it all pricing is way over the top. Miss you Carl!

Yelp
Ordered the fig pizza it was much too sweet. Tried the empanadas. They had a potato like filling with meat but nothing special. The dips they come with was like a tasteless tahini, not even a hint of garlic in there. The orange sauce was zesty but can't tell you what zesty flavor was in there. Place is packed, nit sure what I am missing. Perhaps try them again another time down the road.

Yelp
Literally the best Italian restaurant around. I can't speak highly enough about their food. The crispy burrata is absolutely amazing. I love their pesto. They have a similar menu to Carl Anthony's and the owners are cousins. They have great garlic mashed potatoes and penne alla vodka. I tend to get the same meals again and again but I'm sure their other menu items are great too, I've never been let down. I know my parents love their prime NY strip. They have a really cute outdoor eating area too with lights and pyramid patio heaters. And their gelato and chocolate lava cake are both awesome!

Yelp
Per my coworker the food that was delivered was delicious. The fact they didn't deliver 2 of the 5 items ordered is upsetting. The fact they refused to bring back the items they forgot is unprofessional and unforgivable. Unfortunately for them we will not be ordering from them again. And we will be spreading the word in our large facility not to order from this establishment

Yelp
Great music on Friday nights! Really good food! Large portions some items are a little bit pricey. But overall a good place.

Yelp
We had 2 panini. Very nice presentation & tasty. It was pretty empty at 1:30pm. on a Thursday. We were one of two tables being served. Nice atmosphere. My only gripe is that I asked for a refill of my small unsweetened ice tea, then was charged $4 per glass. When we asked about the charge, we got a snooty attitude. First, I don't know any restaurant that charges per glass of a soft drink, especially ice tea. Second, the proper response when I asked for a refill is "No Refills." That was a turn-off. I don't think we'll return.

Yelp
My husband and I came for dinner and the food was fantastic! The owners came to our table to check on everything. The service was great and they had someone playing guitar and singing. Perfect night here. We will be back, I recommend the penne with vodka sauce and the meatballs!! Delicious

Yelp
Food sub-par. Service meh... sat down at bar for happy hour and was told to move due to reserved stools- said stools were quickly occupied by "favored" guests who received instant service while I sat and watched and waited. Very strange! Decent drinks but limited happy hour drink menu.

Yelp
One of the most creative menus we've tried in a long time. The crispy oysters wrapped in fillet mignon were one of the best things I've ever eaten. And the short rib with port reduction and truffle mashed potatoes were beyond delicious! Thought they couldn't top those appetizers but then had the salmon with crispy lobster ravioli that could make you weep. My husband who doesn't like sweets loved their salted caramel martini. And the coffee and donuts dessert was spectacular. Fresh warm donuts holes with a semi sweet Nutella dipping sauce and a frozen espresso semifredo was the perfect ending to an outstanding meal. We'll definitely be regulars!

Yelp
Food is decent but the service is very very bad. We were there on a Friday night and most of the servers were hanging out together by the bar and ignoring customers - and the place was pretty empty too. It was a very strange experience. The few people there all seemed to know eachother. Hopefully this was just an off night.

Yelp
First time at this restaurant and definitely the last. Very unwelcoming - inside and out. From the outside, it's difficult to tell if the place is even open. The windows are dark and the lights inside are so dim you can't see them from outside. When we walked in, the place was completely empty except for the hostess, bartender and the owner. We decided to have a drink at the bar before we got a table for dinner. The owner never greeted us nor engaged in any conversation. He stood in the back and conversed with the bartender. We got our drinks and asked that the check be transferred to the dining room, where now there was one other table occupied. This was truly the darkest lit dining room we have ever seen! We were shown to a table in the back and, when we asked if we could have a table closer to the window where it was a little lighter, the owner told us that we could only have one of the two-tops, both of which were towards the back. This was a Sunday night, no one was in the place even after we finished our meal. Our candle wasn't lit, our water glasses were never turned over and he never asked if we wanted drinks before walking away. The bartender was now the waitress, who also had to be asked for water and to light the candle on the table. The food came out ok, good but nothing special for the price they charge. We were never asked if we wanted pepper or cheese, we had to ask. When the check came, we were totally surprised to see that the drinks (vodka on the rocks) were $17 each! Totally out of line for this area and even in more upscale restaurants than this dark and unfriendly place. I called the waitress over and asked to speak with the owner. As he walked over to our table, I could tell he was already annoyed and not open to hearing what I had to say. I told him my complaints but he was not willing to discuss and offered no apology. He again told me about the tables being saved for larger parties, but I pointed out that no one occupied any one of them since we came in!! His response was basically, if I don't like it don't come back. Of course, I told him I would never be back but he couldn't care less. Bottom line - we went out for a nice time, spent $150 in a place that was dark, depressing and unwelcoming. Clearly, the owner has no sense of what it takes to run a successful business and attract repeat customers. I have been in the restaurant business myself, and would never treat a customer this way. From what I've read, several other people had the same experience and said they would never return. My advice, avoid this place and take your business to place where it's appreciated.

Yelp
There are so many amazing things to say about this restaurant. first off, the owner Nick is so kind! He was our server as they were too busy and needed help. New York service! His waitstaff was amazing though. The food was absolutely delicious! Ambiance was on point! Candles lit everywhere! Highly recommend trying this amazing restaurant! Do not believe the couple of bad reviews, I promise you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Food was good but the price was ridiculous. I ordered a grey goose with lime on the rocks. That's $13.50 but they added $3.50 for ICE! That shouldn't have been an additional cost for ice! I will not be returning.

Yelp
Restaurant was slow for a Saturday night but the food was outstanding. No wait, excellent drinks and service. This is the former Carl Anthonys , but the menu is very close and the Italian calamari still has the balsamic glaze which is out of this world.

Yelp
The management needs to improve immensely. We received a post card in the mail advertising Marcello's Italian eatery with a few sales, one which gave you $20 off $100 spent on food. Since we haven't been there yet we figured we would try it. So we invited our good friends another couple and made reservations. Our waitress was great and staff also. We ordered drinks and appetizers and we told our waitress about our coupon and we knew it couldn't be used for the price fix deals and happy hour. So we ordered our dinners, then the waitress comes back and says we can't use our coupon because our friends ordered price fix, but we were paying for our own meal and my friends were paying for theirs. So the manager wouldn't honor even though we were going to pay for our own and he wouldn't change the bill to separate bills so we can use our coupon! Don't send out coupons if you're not going to honor them !!! NOT Going back!!! To bad cuz we were looking forward to a good meal. Carl Anthony's never did that! (Prior owner)

Yelp
Great food and service. We went for my husband's birthday and left very pleased. The pasta was delicious, plentiful and perfectly cooked. And to our surprise, the waitress brought out a piece of tiramisu on a beautifully decorated plate with a sparkler to enjoy with our coffee. Our new favorite place. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
While the food and service is good their prices are out of whack. $18 for Brussel sprouts? What if no one else at the table wants to share a family sized order? The shrimp cocktail costs less! Plus most specials are close to or over $40. You can get pizza or a panini for under $20. As another reviewer said, wish they had another fish option as well as healthier, lighter choices.

Yelp
We met friends here as a halfway point after reading Yelp reviews. (Yelp never lets us down!) Greeted by Mia, the very friendly hostess, and was waited by Haley who was very friendly and attentive. Lovely decor and charming ambiance. The food was delicious. Served hot and very nicely seasoned and large portions. I ordered the cavetelli with broccoli rabe, sausage, and beans and our friend ordered the same but with gluten free penne. We both thought it was fantastic and brought half home for another meal. My husband is a huge Chicken Parm fan and loved it. Our other friend ordered the Chicken Picata and thoroughly enjoyed it and had leftover as well. There was a nice wine list and full bar. Desserts looked good, but we were going to our friend's home for dessert. My only suggestion would be a small side salad for smaller appetites, as a large salad for some (me!) would be too filling to enjoy the delicious meal. We will go back, this time to enjoy an evening of music also.

Yelp
So I really don't like posting negative reviews but feel like this is necessary. Last night we arrived to Marcello's at 5:30 for the dinner with Patricia Griffin the medium. One of our group has a May birthday and she loves this medium, so the 3 of us were treating her. I called at the beginning of April and charged 4 tickets, 365 dollars. When we arrived the hostess could not find us on the list. We were told there's 1 seat, 1 of you can have that. I was able to pull up my credit card charge by Marcello's at the beginning of April and was told that I wasn't put on the list and it's non refundable. We were essentially ignored for about 30 minutes. I asked the hostess to please ask the owner to come out and was told we're busy and it's nonrefundable and she ignored us. I actually walked into the kitchen and was told by 1 owner" we are busy and it's non refundable" in a rude abrupt tone. The other owner did come out and put the refund through. This all took about 45 minutes. I was beyond shocked that we were treated in such a rude manner. Not sure how you run a business and treat customers in that fashion. What was supposed to be a special night for our friend turned into a disaster!

Yelp
I've been coming here for the last 12 months I've lived in Monroe. They've been nothing but kind and their food is delicious! I recently asked if they sell their dough (my daughter requested she make pizza with me for her bday) and while they aren't open for lunch, gave me the owners personal mobile number to text and pick up during non-business hours!

Yelp
Disappointed for the price we paid we received personal sized pizzas that were mostly crust. Definitely not the quality of the previous owners. Appreciated they honored requests on one of our pizzas but dropped the ball on one of our pastas.
