Marco’s offers a kids’ menu printed out with games like mazes and crossword puzzles. Standout lunch options for kids include chicken strips, quesadillas, and buttered noodles, and on the all-day breakfast menu, a single buttermilk pancake, and a “waffle gnome” with whipped cream and berries." - Rebecca Roland

Opinion Worth a Thought

Google
Had brunch with a friend. We got there around 2:30pm, and it wasn't very busy The host was nice and pleasant, but service was a bit slow. We waited for a while before the server took our order. Besides that, service was great I ordered the Western Scramble and my friend ordered Michael's Benedict. She was able to have sausage patty instead of Canadian bacon. Generous portion. Tasty food

Google
We were greeted kindly at the entrance, which gave a good first impression. Unfortunately, the service from our waiter was a bit dry—not rude, but definitely lacking warmth or enthusiasm. As for the food, my partner ordered the corned beef hash. He found it quite plain and lacking flavor. While the poached eggs were cooked perfectly, the hollandaise sauce—an extra $3—was tasteless and didn’t add much to the dish. I ordered the Marcos Burger, which was basically a plain patty between brioche buns, with a couple of thick tomato slices and a burger sauce that was maybe a 2 out of 5 in flavor. Cheese wasn’t included and cost an additional $2, which felt a bit disappointing for what was already a rather underwhelming and over price burger. The highlight of our visit was definitely the drinks. I had the Café Brian, which was delicious and felt fancy—one of the better parts of the experience. Overall, not a terrible visit, but not great either. Good drinks, okay food, and service that could be warmer. We probably won't return.

Google
Have stopped in here many times over the years — for breakfast, lunch, happy hour, dinner, you name it —- and can honestly say I haven’t had a bad meal yet. The vibe is slightly Euro cafe-ish, a bit rustic-but-refined, but definitely not a diner. Service has always been awesome - ready to accommodate my silly whims, attentive yet friendly. A Multnomah Village gem. Grab a table by a window and stare up at all the umbrellas hanging from the ceiling...

Google
Great drink menu and even tastier food. Really enjoyed the healthy and lite omelet options. Lots of windows, sunlight, and overall pretty atmosphere.

Google
I love this spot. Unfortunately I love the Tuna Melt so much I never get to try anything else. Good problem to have.

Google
Came here with a cute date, and it was magnificent! Food and drinks were delicious/strong and the service was great during a super busy Saturday brunch time.

Google
This place has such great vibes and the decor is absolutely amazing—really sets the mood for a fantastic meal. It’s one of my favorite spots for brunch! The staff are always friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. The menu offers something for everybody, so whether you’re craving sweet or savory, you’ll find it here. Prices are more than reasonable considering the quality and atmosphere. The space feels super comfortable and inviting, making it easy to relax and enjoy your meal. Because it’s so popular, I definitely recommend making reservations or getting there early to snag a spot. Overall, it’s a top-notch brunch destination that never disappoints!

Google
Always come here for the Coffee Pomodor. Excellent cardamom flavor hits the spot every time. Today I got to sample some first rate sweet potato chips. Yee haw!! And they look so pretty - try some: they’re golden!

Yelp
Lived in the area for over a decade and visited Marco's for the first time today. The environment is cozy and homey, but not *too* homey. It's clean and well kept. Food was delicious, service was quick. We chatted for a while and didn't feel rushed. I'm sure they get busy on weekends so plan ahead, or maybe stop by on a Monday like we did. We'll be back!
google avatar

Yelp
What a wonderful meal we had! Loved the umbrellas hanging from the ceiling and the menu had so much to offer. The Santa Fe Scramble had just the right amount of heat and so much flavor. Excellent French toast too. Our waitress was very friendly and went above and beyond to seat us comfortably and attend to us throughout our meal. Will return again soon!
google avatar

Tim M.

Yelp
Food was absolutely excellent! Really chill place, and great service. Though it does get pretty busy fast in the mornings, so be sure to get there early, or go in later on for brunch. The menu is pretty awesome and has a variety of stuff from breakfast to lunch to dinner. The London Fog here is delicious

Yelp
There for Father's Day. Food was good. But clearly the staff was there to put plates on a table rather than make the experience anything special. They weren't really interested in going the extra mile and at times seemed almost adversarial.

Yelp
First time in Portland in a long time and woke up pretty late so decided to come here for a nice little breakfast/brunch. Was seated promptly and service was very nice. Ambiance was pretty unique with the upside down umbrellas, you won't catch this unless you look up since they have pretty high ceilings. Now let's get to the food - Marco's has a decent size menu: they serve breakfast and lunch all day which can be a little worrisome, i feel the quality of food may go down if you offer both breakfast and lunch all day. I started off with the Pompadour coffee: pretty average, when i read the description, i was very excited and was expecting an out of this world coffee. The coffee tasted just okay, there's whipped cream that has cinnamon and cardamom which is a nice touch. I ordered the chilaquiles for my main dish and this was overwhelmingly bland. I had to add plenty of salt and pepper with hot sauce to really get a flavor profile. The salsa complimented the eggs and tortilla and the beans tasted fine. I probably wouldn't order this again. The blintzes - this was probably the best tasting thing I had here today. The sour cream compliments the sweetness of the blintz but if you don't like sour cream, i don't think it's necessary to eat with the blintz. I would consider going to Marco's again only if other breakfast places in the area were packed. I really liked Marco's hospitality and promptness in service but the food was just okay.

Yelp
Such a gem of a diner in SW Portland! Marco's has an iconic umbrella ceiling for decor and homey menu items to satisfy a craving from any meal. I chose the fruit waffle, which was on their seasonal menu. The fruit was super fresh and perfectly complemented my Belgian waffle with a hearty dollop of fresh cream. Marco's also offers huckleberry syrup with all of their sweet breakfast items, which I highly recommend! It is so good. Overall, our meals were tasty, the coffee was strong, and the service was quick. Great place to stop for breakfast!

Yelp
This is a go to easy place in Multnomah village that has a great espresso bar, cocktails, brunch and lunch. Brunch is sold all day and they have a extensive menu! Service is good - no complaints! They are fast. It is busy, especially on the weekends so make sure to allow enough time for brunch. They have a decent amount of outdoor seating in the warm months, and outside is dog friendly. This location is also super kid friendly-- kids menu,l and crayons.

Yelp
Cute little place near a lot of stores. Not really any parking, but a great selection of food and drinks. This is a great brunch spot.

Yelp
We tried Marco's on Labor Day and it was quite busy, but luckily we had a reservation and they seated us right away. The restaurant has flare with umbrellas hanging from the ceiling and the service was prompt given how busy it was. However I thought the food was overpriced and frankly not that good. I had the French toast for $14 and a side of bacon for an extra $5. When I got my French toast I was surprised that I didn't quite get a "full slice" of toast. Mostly fruit on the plate.... I certainly felt taken advantage of. I'll include a photo and you can decide if it was worth close to $20. Just to be clear, I had not eaten any of that slice on the right! I could have added an additional "slice" of French toast for $5 but glad I didn't. I won't be back anytime soon...

Yelp
Wandered into this restaurant at the bottom of the hill. Food was very good. They have learned how to make breakfast potatoes, unlike the places that believe you have to have tiny cubes that are greasy and jammed with peppers and avocados. The service was prompt, friendly and accurate. Our waitress, Lissette, was very pleasant. The mottos on the wall give an insight into the owners and show a warmth that pervades the entire establishment.
google avatar

Yelp
Good fun, fun place for brunch! Great service, they were all really nice. And the umbrellas are such a good vibe. A village staple for sure.

Yelp
If you're looking for a place that serves hair in their food, rude service & being harassed by management this is it! They threatened to have my friends car towed while we WERE EATING INSIDE. They didnt offer to try & replace my food & tried to say it was one of ours. Wouldn't waste your time nor money on a restaurant that sees themselves as holy & their guest as imbeciles. Read a few other reviews to also see we were not the only ones truly disappointed with a once loved place.
google avatar

Gina S.

Yelp
What a wonderfully warm and inviting spot for breakfast! Had a delicious huckleberry mimosa with my breakfast. Service was wonderful and food was delicious! I'll be back for sure. Parking was easy which is always a bonus.

Yelp
I enjoy everything about Marcoʻs, The foodʻ, Service and ambiance. Breakfast is terrific and wē enjoy Happy Hour.
google avatar

Vienia H.

Yelp
Found a new brunch place closer to home. Their fresh fruits waffle is very good but I wish they would let me know in advance what the fruit(s) may be--make sure to ask if you're particular with specific fruits.
google avatar

Kerrie D.

Yelp
Marco's is a cool spot. They have unique and interesting hot and cold beverages and the ceiling is decorated with hanging, open umbrellas. Nestled at one corner of Multnomah Village, it feels really local and comfortable. And...speaking of beverages, how do you choose between the Pompadour (steamed milk, swiss chocolate, cinnamon, cardamom and espresso with whipped cream) or the London Fog (Earl Gray, steamed milk, vanilla syrup)? There are also lots of intriguing cocktails and interesting flights. I ended up starting with a plain hot coffee, good to know where you stand when trying out a new place, amiright? Stock cup of coffee here was GREAT! Ended up with a classic benedict for lunch/brunch and enjoyed it all thoroughly.
google avatar

Kiley S.

Yelp
This has to be the cutest part of town and this place is a real gem. Great vibe, friendly staff, and amazing food and drink. Do yourself the favor of a lifetime and order the "Pompadour" latte. You won't be able to stop thinking about it afterwards!
google avatar

Yelp
Sand which Heaven. Lunch was sooo home grown delicious. We ordered the tuna melt and a shrimp salad. Fresh and very satisfying. Friendly atmosphere, quick friendly service lots of room to enjoy your meal. I want to try dinner here next. A great neighborhood go to.
google avatar

Evelyn C.

Yelp
Service was subpar and very slow. Food was meh. When I walked inside (we were seated outdoors) to ask someone to take our orders 20 min after being seated because I wasn't sure if they forgot about us, they were brusque and borderline rude. So overall, meh. Came here once back in February 2022 and haven't been back.
google avatar

Carrie B.

Yelp
My daughter had a volleyball game in the area so we stopped here for brunch after. I was surprised to get a table right away (this place can be packed on the weekends!) so we got lucky! I love that they have espresso and great food!
google avatar

Harmony G.

Yelp
Back at Marco's for lunch. They never disappoint! Service great, food is always outstanding. We had the shrimp salad and the grilled fish tacos. The shrimp salad is really big. I recommend getting the dressing on the side so you can have the portion you want on it. The fish tacos are a lighter meal so if you are hungry, add something else. Their chili is really good, that might pair well. Bottomless iced tea. They have covered outside dining too!

Brenda F.

Yelp
Delicious French toast and took home some yummy cinnamon rolls. Great service. Also enjoyed the ambiance, nice tables with fun umbrellas hanging from the ceiling.
google avatar

Tauna M.

Yelp
Food, staff and ambiance are awesome! I visited Marco's after having not been there in years and was amazed that the food was actually tastier then before and it's still just as popular! They've also repainted the interior since my last trip and added a few more inside tables. They season food very well, don't over-salt and give generous portions. The staff actively works as a team to help customers which was great so you have a team watching over you! The menu is quite large and is varied. Top stars to this establishment!

Linda S.

Yelp
Marco's has always been a destination for us, so the mediocre lunch yesterday was very disappointing. My BLT had barely discernible, flavorless bacon. The fries were bland, probably from commercial frozen, they would not serve my friend a 1/2 pint of beer (actually they did but charged for a full pint). Service was average.
google avatar

Brian P.

Yelp
Every time we visit PortlAnd we stop at Marco's. Great food. Great Service. Our waitress, Giselle, was both prompt and fun. I always get the Chorizo Omelette and a pancake. Never disappoints. 6 of us in our party and all loved it. Lots of locals and a bit of a home away from home stop for us. Thanks Marcos! Thanks Giselle!
google avatar

Carolyn T.

Yelp
staff was amazing on the day after snow storm. they were so busy but still kind and hospitabl. go here.

David B.

Yelp
Great Food, Drinks and Service! We'll be back! A very comfortable atmosphere and a large menu! You can get breakfast anytime of the day!
google avatar

Odulami B.

Yelp
There are a few great options for brunch in Multnomah village area and Marcos has been on my top two list for years. The food, service and cadence is very consistent; the organization and strong focus on CX is well managed. The food options are top notch (there are a few items I haven't cared for over the years admittedly) with a great rotation of fresh specials on a weekly basis.
google avatar

Yvonne K.

Yelp
We've been coming here for brunch for years, always good service, consistent food, my favorite is the chicken fried steak breakfast, hard to find a good one in this town!
google avatar

Yasmin S.

Yelp
Need brunch, Marco's is the place. Delicious menu options and plenty of morning starters too. The spicy Bloody Mary is a treat
google avatar

Tom S.

Yelp
Food is always good, but prices have gone up considerably. This review is not about that. The management needs to address the cleanliness of the restrooms. The walls are filthy and off-putting about the restaurant in general.

Nasty W.

Yelp
Based on the last couple of visits, so many negatives. It is excrutiating loud, very difficult to hold a conversation. As for the food, dry, expensive cinnamon rolls, tepid food meant to be served hot, $5 for a side of sausage (1 piece!) that was dry and only partially reheated. The worst was having money "unaccounted for," during payment. Ended up paying extra $10 on a bill because the server didn't count a one of our party's payment. Many great breakfast spots in Multnomah Village. No need to go here.

Abigail R.

Yelp
The food was fine but I feel entirely ripped off. I paid $26 for the smallest sandwich I have ever had. I ordered a BLT and paid extra for gluten free bread. I understand that gluten free bread is always marked up but for $26 I would expect the sandwich to be place on 4 slices of bread to make it a regular sized sandwich. I am not gluten free by choice, it is by necessity. I will not be returning.
google avatar

Shannon H.

Yelp
It is unfortunate then I have to stop going to restaurant I have been going to for 20 years. I appreciate the manager Eduardo working to meet customer needs but he fails because Glenda is actually one of the most disregarding, dismissive, rude, and I would venture to state incompetent liabilities this restaurant has ever employed. Her demeanor is the end of my 20 year patronage and support. I have gone up to 3x a week and have sent hundreds of Airbnb guests a year for the last 13 years to them and just removed my recommendation and replaced it with restaurants that provide a good meal and good service. Go to Grand Central, Verde Cocina, Jola's or even Gigi's is preferable now to Marcos. Such a sad day.
google avatar

Kristen M.

Yelp
The Marco's vibe is still alive and well. The food is still solid. Nothing new or amazing. Just breakfast/lunch reliability. .

Shelley B.

Yelp
Cute cafe that I've been to a number of times for lunch and happy hour I when I used to work in the area, now I've tried it again for lunch and it was still just as good as I remember. Mussels are awesome and we had luncheon salads that were lovely. Ambience is pretty too. The umbrellas hanging from the ceiling are cute.

Elka G.

Yelp
Huge menu. Delicious, we'll-priced food. Interesting dishes, right-sized portions. Breakfast all day. Unbelievable desserts! Cozy, friendly, neighborhood place.
google avatar

Matthew I.

Yelp
Unfortunately, this neighborhood gem has turned into a lump of coal. Previously ate here many times over the years and was always happy with the service, food quality. Went there the other day and was extremely disappointed. Service was timely but dour. Our server never smiled, messed up a request for dressing on the side, had to be flagged down for a soda refill despite the fact that there were only two or three other tables occupied. My main course came out within 5 minutes of delivery of my appetizer and salad. My braised "short rib" must have come from a newly developed strain of invertebrate cow, seeing as how it lacked ribs. It also lacked the fat, the soft tenderness of a real short rib. It was supposed to be served with asparagus, but instead come with green beans. The "braising" liquid tasted like it was a processed concentrate.

Yelp
We used to love Marco's and ate there regularly, but a few years ago the quality started getting sort of iffy, so this place fell off our radar. My husband and I ate there tonight, along with his aunt and uncle. It was soooo disappointing. Our server was utterly grim, not welcoming at all. She took our orders, and our beverages came out fairly quickly. My bourbon-peach-lemonade was quite good. The calamari appetizer was fine, and the side salad was also OK. It was nice to see some golden beets on it. The entrees came out before my husband was even half done with his salad, so the timing was not good. I had ordered the Southwest Salad with dressing on the side. The salad was missing an ingredient, had dressing already on it, and was served with steaming hot black bean chili poured on top of it. Not what I was expecting, and really unappetizing. I asked the server to re-do it with the dressing on the side; she did this and thoughtfully served the chili on the side also. The salad was not good -- the chipotle-lime dressing had no flavor other than sour, the chili was likewise totally flavorless. It was missing the roasted corn. The salsa was also lacking in flavor. My husband ordered the short rib w/ mashed potatoes and asparagus. He received green beans instead of asparagus. The meat portion was quite large, and tasted good, not great. His aunt ordered chicken and dumplings. I didn't taste it, but she said that it had curry seasoning in it. She is not an adventurous eater at all, and the menu did not mention curry in this dish so she was also not happy with her meal. My husband's uncle got the fish and chips and reported that it was fine. So all in all, a disappointing meal. :(

Lily C.

Yelp
We had a wonderful lunch at Marco's, with friendly service and delicious food. The breakfast burritos were tasty and the ambience was lovely.
google avatar

Yelp
Superb as always! There were not many people eating dinner there tonight. Very enjoyable dining experience with very nice server. Two of us had sandwiches and Mulligatany soup and two had salads. We all got full! Prices vs. quantity of food are good. Food costs have been on the rise for a long time now but I appreciate that some restaurants like this one keep them as low as they can get. I congratulate Marco's for 40 years of serving SW Portland. They have been really consistent on quality and I've literally never had a bad experience or anything bad-tasting from there. I haven't lived in Portland for more than 20 years now but was a regular customer for most of the first 20 years they were in business. Actually, I used to know an older couple who would dine there multiple nights a week back in the 80s and 90s! That's how much they loved the place. One thing I have not tried though is any of the Espresso Bar drinks. Next time for sure!

Molly O.

Yelp
Made a reservation a couple of weeks ago to come here for a fun first day of school breakfast at 8am. When we arrived at 8 the door was closed and the sign read closed. We walked inside to a mostly dark restaurant a few minutes after 8 and the kitchen staff told us to sit down, but the rest of the staff hadn't arrived. Left around 8:10 and grabbed breakfast at another restaurant around the corner.
google avatar

Julia W.

Yelp
I absolutely love Marco's! My family eats here weekly. The food is amazing, staff is great and the service is always 5 stars.

Hungry M.

Yelp
why was the french toast so small for $14?? i need more french toast than that!!!!! it was a single slice of small bread!!! i ate it in two seconds and then was sitting there like an idiot! excellent service though and everyone was very nice :)
google avatar

Kristen D.

Yelp
I've has the pleasure of visiting Marco's twice now. Once in the summer and once in the middle of a snow storm. The food has been consistently delicious and I love that they have my favorite dish crab cake eggs benedict. Their coffees are pulled wonderfully and parking is readily available. Will be back!
google avatar

Steve H.

Yelp
Cozy family-run place in the heart of Multnomah Village. It's got a full bar and lots of classic American comfort food items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Emphasis on the cozy and the causal rather than the fancypants. It's really homey inside. Fish and chips and the Ruben are solid go-to items. For the pandemic situation they've got a bunch of semi-covered outdoor seating near the back parking lot, with those tall propane fueled heating units to keep you warm. Dining outside in fall/winter can be chilly, but the heaters make it more than manageable. And of course take out is always an option.
google avatar

Heidi R.

Yelp
The wait was long, So thinking it would have great service and great food. Apparently not at all either! My Boyfriend and I were very hungry and so we were ready to order but our server hasn't show up in a long time. So we ordered soup, fruit cup and breakfast entree's, it took at least 20mins till we got our food. We were at least expecting soup and fruit cup to at least be served first but NO. Not only waiting for 20mins. Everything got served all at once in our small table! The food wasn't warm at all. Our server hardly check on us. It wasn't like the last 6-7 years ago i was here. Never Again to come back! Food was pricey Food wasn't warm enough Service poor! Highly not recommend this place. Down to earth was one of the best and other breakfast place!

Yelp
Stopped in for breakfast on Saturday morning and there was no wait. Waffle gnome - two small round waffles with HEAPS of whipped cream on top. Definitely try the huckleberry syrup - it is absolutely delicious. Perfect if you have a sweet tooth and a smaller appetite. I also tried Marco's burrito which is served as a wet burrito, and is packed with super tasty fillings. This is for big appetites only! Overall, a nice breakfast spot.

Heather C.

Yelp
Marco's was amazing during the Portland ice storm and snow during winter of 2022. Our pipes froze and Marco's filled up our water bottles and also served us amazing food (excellent chilequiles and the chicken Cesar wrap was awesome.). Great and friendly service. We also ate here the night before (southwest salad and chicken tarragon salad, both excellent as well). Thank Marco's for your hospitality!!! It was greatly appreciated in a difficult time!

Doug B.

Yelp
This was formerly one of my favorite places to eat in Portland. It's become no more than a glorified diner, and not a very good diner at that. We visited on Multnomah Days and experienced poor service, inflated prices, and mediocre (at best) food. While I enjoyed my burger, my two dining companions made the mistake of ordering Reubens. These sandwiches were unappetizing and scrawny in appearance and according to my companions, just plain disappointing. (BTW, you'll find a much better Reuben at Bannings a couple of miles away.) I do not enjoy writing negative reviews; I seldom do. But the owner of Marco's needs to step back and revisit what made this place so special for so long because they've strayed far from that path. Right now it's coasting along on its location and a grossly out-of-date reputation.
