Small, chef-owned, and beloved for generous sushi rolls and Asian-fusion plates alongside well-cooked steaks. Frequently recommended by locals and regional lists, it’s the intimate, reservation-free spot where the chef’s hand is felt in every dish.

Hey Everyone, This place is truly on my top 5 list now! I had such a great time with my friend and was wowed with the size of the rolls! We definitely came in with an empty stomach from the morning and so indulged in the explicit yumminess that jumped around on our my tastebuds. I was so hungry that I forgot to take a picture of their marinated seaweed and cucumber salad with tomatoes. We shared it and it was fun the way we were trying to scoop up the food with our injured hands. Jody was our amazing server who taught us about “inside out” which is the seaweed in the rolls is on the inside with the fish eggs on the outside! We learned something new, how nice! Marc was very busy behind the counter making rolls for his customers. His team worked in sync serving inside his packed place. It’s been a decade since I was there and I will return and bring someone new with me to enjoy the rolls and appetizers. We had the Vegas and California Roll along with the crab rangoon. The crab rangoon when biting into it was so enjoyable! The crunch on the edges was absolutely incredible! It wasn’t a thick wrapper with a little filling no, it was filled up with crab and cream cheese that you can’t help but want to order more! It was so comforting to eat! Now there was another crunch when you bite into the Vegas roll and that was another comfort warm and fuzzy feeling too! I need to come back, like soon and have the same warm, fuzzy, foodie feeling that I encountered last night! I was even brave to ask to take pictures of the table next to me of their dishes which she decided to take pictures for herself too. So people please, come check this diamond of a place out ! We have a high quality chef right under our noses that doesn’t even compare to those in Manhattan!

Everything was so amazing. Staff was unbelievably friendly. Guided us to a fantastic meal. Was attentive. Even apologized bc she thought she wasn’t. Crab Rangoon upsell was fantastic. The steak was better than most steak houses and the sushi was some of the best. We found out new favorite spot.

Google
The staff was friendly and they were quick with the orders. Never felt rushed even though we were waiting on one person in our party. The sushi rolls were amazing! The cocktails were excellent too. I did get some of the crab rangoon before it sold out sooo good! A must try spot in rockford!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Marc’s Fusion was our go-to spot when we lived in Rockford, and even 7 years later, it didn’t disappoint! We were passing through and decided to stop by—there was already a line forming before the 5 PM opening. That says it all. We ordered Marc’s Fusion Roll, and it tasted exactly like we remembered—absolutely perfect. It’s a small place, but clearly still beloved by locals and visitors alike. Timeless flavors, cozy ambiance, and loyal fans. Highly recommend!

Google
Marc’s fusion a Rockford classic! Sushi 3.5/5 (wife said 2/5) allot of the ingredients are low quality but the quantity is large. They are price very fairly. Average roll around 12$. Ambiance is very cozy and busy and service seemed very fast however I ordered take away. However, the staff I encountered were very nice. Location (sus) definitely lock your car but this is Rockford so you should do that anyways. My recommendation (if anyone cares) give it a try it might be for you. But don’t expect to overly impressed.

Google
Manhattan-Level Asian Fusion Cuisine Tucked Away on Rockford’s Southwest Side. Let’s cut to the chase: if you’re in Rockford and have a craving for exceptional Asian Fusion, you would be doing yourself a disservice by not visiting Marc’s Fusion Cafe. As someone who dines out in Manhattan at least once a week, I’ve got a pretty discerning palate - so believe me when I say Marc’s Fusion Cafe doesn’t just meet the bar, it vaults right over it. I took a chance on Marc’s Fusion’s signature dish and got floored by the quality of the seared tuna. Ever been shockingly delighted? That’s exactly how I felt as I ate that first piece of tuna. I experienced a similar sense of surprise after trying a California roll. You might expect this caliber of sushi on the coasts, but in the heart of the Midwest? It’s almost culinary heresy - in the best way possible. As the meal progressed and more dishes arrived, one thing became crystal clear: whether it was meat, fish, or crustacean, each cut was near-perfect. I was in a gastronomic paradise and dreading the eventual final bite. But every story has its end, and in this case, it was a raspberry sorbet that served as the perfect exclamation point to an unforgettable dining experience.

Google
I was taken to Marc's Fusion Cafe by friends who told me it was a local gem that I had to try. They did not lie! Just wow. Every item we tried was an absolute winner for freshness, flavor, presentation, and perfection. The Vegas roll was one of the tastiest I've ever had, exploding with an incredible combination of flavors and texture. Crab Rangoon was crispy and crabby with generous portions of crab and the homemade sweet/sour sauce was a perfect compliment. Jim's fusion was an incredible entree, a little bit of everything, yet the distinct flavor of each component was still present. Add a sauce that I couldn't begin to do justice describing (sweet, spicy, salty, tangy, citrus, umami, everything good in the world) and it was just incredible. One of my friends had the filet and she commented that it was likely the best steak to be had in greater Rockford. Portion sizes were large, we all took food home. Prices were better than I'd expect, especially after experiencing the incredible quality. Service was prompt, attentive, friendly, and personal. This is a small venue and your patronage will be appreciated and personally acknowledged by the staff and/or owner. Free parking in adjacent surface lot. Come early for a table, there aren't a lot to be had. They also do takeout, and judging by the steady stream of pickups I saw, they must also be doing that right! It's always great to discover a new favorite. Marc's Fusion Cafe earned that ranking with me tonight.

Google
Very small place, and gives the atmosphere that the food would be superb. I expected a bigger sushi menu. The sushi was ok, and mostly fusion rather than traditional. I got the ribeye. It was cooked fairly well at medium rare. The steak was a little tougher than I prefer. Chicken fried rice and the shrimp fried rice were great. What stood out was the delicious crab rangoon and mai tais. Our service was fantastic. I'd revisit and try a couple other dishes and sushi.

Yelp
Excellent service & food delicious and too much but good to share & for leftovers! Service prompt & great atmosphere!

Yelp
My friend took me here for the first time and I'm so glad he did. It's a smaller restaurant so we had to wait a little bit for a table. They had their crab Rangoons that day so we ordered it and my god, delicious. From there we got some variety of sushi, fried rice, and steak. Everything was so good! The sushi tasted nice and fresh and the portions of everything was huge. I can't wait to go back and try more of the menu. Definitely need to go back asap.

Yelp
Food was great. It was very busy on a Saturday might, but still a good atmosphere. Friendly staff.

Yelp
Fabulous food!!! Great service and nice staff! We'll be back soon. Try their sake bombs!

Twana J.

Yelp
ewww. our appetizer plates had thick ,oily grime on fronts and oily fingerprints on backs. crab Rangoon was fine. Edamame was overcooked and not good. Ginger salad has declined and my sister found mold on her tomato top. Vegetable kabob was sone orange bell pepper with a couple bad texture mushrooms and cherry tomatoes all dripping in chesp cooking oil the rice had a hard crust with a couple of too mature aspargus stalks. neither of us took a bite of any of that. we sat at the bar which was also grimey. not busy on a Tuesday night. ceiling tiles above the owner's sushi prep station was drooping and peeling. they handwash here. no sanitizing dishwasher. unfortunately we could see the dishwasher guy barely rinsing or cleaning. nasty. stay away

Yelp
The BEST food in Rockford by far! From Pork Chops to the Fried Rice and sushi... You will be hard pressed to find better in town

John M.

Yelp
My wife and I went to eat on Saturday night at 5:30. We got seated right away. Which is a little unusual as it is a fairly small space. We both ordered the Jim's fusion but I wanted mine with fried rice and a bit spicy. Both meals came out warm and delicious. Plenty to eat and we both took home about half our portions. Great food every time we go there.

Ashley S.

Yelp
The service is always great when we eat at the restaurant and we have no complaints. However, every time I call I have to wait 30 + minutes and I always end up hanging up because they won't answer. If you want good service, you have to go inside
google avatar

John P.

Yelp
Hands down best sushi in the Rockford area. Matter of fact entire menu is top notch. Be prepared to be close to other patrons but thats the quaintness of Marc's! Service tonight as always was perfect!!
google avatar

Ashley A.

Yelp
One of the best sushi spots in Rockford. The place is really small so depending when you go, you might have to wait. Try not to sit by the door. They open for lunch but then close until dinner. Closed on sun/mon. Vegas Roll is my favorite one. King crab Tempura with cream cheese and some kind of sauce on top! Yum! This roll is huge! Actually most if the rolls are large so get a couple and share. Hannibal is another go-to, a sushi roll with fried chicken, Yes! Food is worth it but don't be surprised that the place is pretty small.
google avatar

Mitch J.

Yelp
Let's acknowledge the elephant in the room--this place is super small. But that's literally the only downside of eating here, so if you can get past the pain in the butt of finding a table, you'll get one of the best meals in Rockford. This place is tied for our favorite sushi in all of Rockford, and their fried rice is definitely the best out there. The chicken fried rice is our go-to for our entree--it's that good! Otherwise, other favorites are Jim's fusion (if you like a variety of meats), the shish kabobs, and shrimp tempura sushi. If you set your expectations on waiting a while to eat (definitely come here before you're starving, or else you'll get cranky), then you'll LOVE this hole in the wall. It's wonderful and there really is nothing like it in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Super small restaurant that is always packed! They don't take reservations, so get there early. We ordered the Crab Rangoon that is only made in certain days of the week, crispy and filled with crab, served with a light sweet sauce. My daughter ordered 2 rolls for us to share, always freshly made, which was way too much for us after our appetizer. I also ordered a mai tai, that hit the spot! This restaurant has quite an extensive menu beyond sushi, totally recommend giving it a try.
google avatar

Yelp
This little spot is a hidden gem. It's just a hole in the wall, in an old building, but it's so charming. There are only 8 or 9 tables and a long bar. One side of the bar is drinks and the other is a sushi bar. My son is a sushi fanatic, so we have tried every sushi place in the stateline area and he said Marc's is the best. The crab ration is authentic. Some of the other Asian dishes aren't my favorite (a little heavy on the ginger), but they have fantastic seafood and steaks too. If you get the pork chops --- they give you two for the price of what most places charge you for one! The service is great, and it's fun to watch the guy (Marc?) make the sushi if you sit at the bar. It's always packed on a Friday or Saturday, so they don't take reservations as it is so small. The prices are reasonable too. My husband, son, and I went there for New Year's Eve. My son had two sushi rolls and five Nigiri. I had the two pork chop dinner, and my husband had the garlic shrimp, plus a side salad. Additionally, we had the crab Rangoon and a glass of wine. The total bill came to just over $100. We can pay $50 at Beef-A-Roo these days. So, this was a lot of food for such a low price. They were also serving a NYE special with a huge New York Strip and a lobster tail for $40. I emphatically suggest this place, especially if you like sushi, but even if you don't.

Yelp
BEST sushi you'll ever have. Everything here is sooo good. Love their chicken friend rice, the scallop appetizer is always my go to. The sushi is hands down the best, most fresh and unique sushi in the 815. They also serve the best crab Rangoon, BUT they only serve it on Saturdays. On fridays they have Mai Tais (Marc Tai) for 9$ and its absolutely massive, and delicious. The are open for lunch, and re open at 5 for dinners. Very limited seating, so be prepared to wait. It's SO worth the wait ! Every time.

Spencer M.

Yelp
Their spicy tuna sushi is so so so good! Their cheesecake is top tier! I love this place and highly recommend it

Yelp
Don't even answer the phone it's very rude I tried calling to place an order to pick up an hour and half before you closed tried calling 3 different times no one answers and just let's the phone keep going. Very rude - bad taste, never been here never want to

Yelp
Marc's is the ultimate food experience. I've said it before, Marc's is not only the best sushi bar in ever but the best restaurant in Rockford. Today I experienced an entree instead of my favorite sushi's rolls. I got the prime cut steak and the fried rice which was the very good. I highly recommend the steak or the pork chops. I am still a huge fan of the krome, dragon and Hannibal rolls but there is so much more to Marc's. It's a foodie sanctuary.

Yelp
The SS says it all, there was more to the post but when I went back, they DELETED the post. I wonder how many bad reviews they deleted along with mine but lucky me, I've dealt with workplaces such as yours in the past and SS what I could and saved it. Good luck deleting this one.

Soledad S.

Yelp
This is the best sushi ever. Hannibal roll is my favorite. I go here just about once a week/ every other week - or pick up. It's not a kid friendly place but a great place for date night or a super small gathering. They have one high chair and it's broken. There is a waitress that has been there a long time - she's awesome , quick on her feet. I forgot her name. Some of the newer waitresses are a hit or miss. Seriously though. But still worth the trip for the sushi and other food !! Honestly if this place was bigger and if there was less time waiting for a table, then it would be a 5/5 stars. The food is 5/5 though.
google avatar

James B.

Yelp
Ok, if you are in the Rockford IL area, there is only one place for sushi. Marc's Fusion is by far the best; the quality of ingredients are unmatched and the rolls are huge! I have tried multiple others and there is no comparison. If you're in Rockford and want sushi, you MUST go to Marc's Fusion. Our favorite is the Krome Roll, but the are all delicious.
google avatar

Chloe O.

Yelp
My husband picked up some rolls from here today so I'll be reviewing only the food and prices. 1. They have very, very decent prices 2. The sizes of the rolls are a bit above average so you get a lot of bang for your buck 3. The smoked salmon is amazing - get it without cream cheese though 4. The rolls are very sloppy and loose Even though there are more good than bad points, the sloppiness of the rolls makes them a bitch to eat which takes away from the experience.

Yelp
I took my wife here Friday for a date night. Multiple people had raved that that the food here is amazing, but the place is small and seems to be always busy. Based on that, we arrived a little after 5 and there were plenty of people in there already yet, we were able to get a table. When people say this place is small, they mean this place is tiny. There were 7-8 tables and the bar you could sit at. That's it. We picked a table in the corner so we wouldn't have to deal with people bumping into us while we ate. Our server was fantastic. She was nice, friendly and prompt. She offered suggestions and cleared away empty plates and dishes as needed. We started with ordering two sushi rolls, the spicy tuna and the spider roll. When I order spicy tuna rolls, I'm used to getting about 8 pieces approximately a half inch in diameter and an inch long. There where 10-12 pieces about an inch and a half in diameter and were about half an inch long each roll. The spicy tuna was one of the best I've had in Rockford. It had a great flavor and there was a nice spicy kick to it as there should be. The Spider roll had a bit of a kick to it as well and was also delicious. We originally were just going to get sushi, but perusing the menu we spotted their Scallops in a wasabi sauce. This intrigued us, so we ordered a plate to share. The scallops were tender and full of flavor. The sauce wasn't spicy as one would think with wasabi; it just had a great flavor that really accented the natural taste of the scallops. We ordered it with fried rice. The fried rice had mushrooms in it that really embellished it and enhanced the flavor even more. For desert, based on the suggestion of the waitress we had the mochi, which was good. I liked it, but it's not something I normally would go after. Before we left the place had filled up and there wasn't an empty table in the building. There was still room at the sushi bar, but not much. There also is not a lot of room for you to stand and wait for a table to open up. So if you are going to go, get their early or hope you time it just right to get a table.

Allie K.

Yelp
Marc's is my favourite sushi in town. Anywhere else I eat, the sushi seems to be good, but not Marc's quality. The fish is always fresh and well prepared, and Marc (who makes the sushi) is always conscious and courteous to my partner's food allergies. The staff is always attentive, my water glass never goes empty for long, and I always get what I ask for. The prices may seem a little bit more than other places, but you truly get what you pay for. The rolls are giant and certainly big enough to satisfy you and a friend. The only downside about Marc's is that it is quite small. You feel like you're on top of one another when waiting for a seat, so I do wish that they would expand to a much bigger place, as they definitely would benefit from it. I suggest getting the dragon roll or the Vegas roll, which makes a fantastic cold breakfast the next morning.

Yelp
Good food, good service. Nothing to complain. Probably the best sushi place in Rockford
google avatar

Yelp
What a Rockford staple this place has always been... If you have never visited or yet to try this place you are missing out on one of the Best places Rockford's food scene has to offer. This place still hasn't lost it's touch. It may not be the biggest restaurant or the prettiest place/location. I'd say let the food do the talking! Stopped in there the other day to say hello to old friend Marc (the owner). Got a chance to see if he is still pumping out the same amazing sushi and food we remembered from a long time ago. After all these years he has been and owner operator some people can easily lose the passion of day in and day out grind... However I never really doubted Marc and his Cafe. This has always been one of our top Rockford favorites places until we moved away more than 10 years ago. We haven't gotten a chance to stop in for a long time. Still too notch! My favorite roll is the Vegas Roll! Still amazing fresh flavors and always presented well. Next visit will be for pork chops and maybe a steak or prime rib. Glad to see things are still going well for you and your restaurant. Always wishing you and the family the best Marc. Cheers

Yelp
The best sushi in the state line area! Love coming here, the small atmosphere provides a nice intimacy for my fiancé and I. And size of the rolls... they are HUGE! Hands down one of the very few places we go for sushi when in the Rockford area.
google avatar

Yelp
This spot was as cozy as a cafe can be without the runny eggs. The service was very friendly an attentive. I have a young daughter, and they went out of their way to entertain her with ice cream.

Yelp
Close to 5 stars maybe? There's only 3 sushi restaurants that count in Rockford: JMK, Shogun, and Marc's. (The first one is the only one I think that is noticeably poorer in quality for sashimi & rice.) I've eaten here a few times, but nothing has really stood out, because I usually get rolls, and those never 'really' stand out, unless they're terrible. (On that note, it is usually a bad idea to get sushi with brown rice, but that is horribly not relevant to this review.) Most recently, I ordered the sashimi dinner. I love how they don't give you dinky little 'filler' pieces like tamagoyaki/egg or shrimp, and there's things like a king crab leg included. All of the pieces of sashimi were super fresh. The sushi rice (which I specially requested to accompany my dinner) was even perfectly made/seasoned. Picture of my dinner: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/L7qvSr0as734azZSSJzWew?select=HmN6viOSz2SKPMpfhgIoxg The location of this restaurant makes it a bit harder to find than JMK or Shogun, but it is well worth the trip. (It's on the south side of Charles street, in a tiny strip mall, just east of an auto parts store.)

Yelp
I've heard great things about Marc's Fusion for a long while now and I finally had the opportunity to try it out! It's so good!! They have the BEST rice I've ever had! It was Jim's Fusion!!! It's a must try. I love sushi and was feeling rather adventurous and finally tried eel, so good! Friendly staff. Small location. Good food.
google avatar

Yelp
Marc's is a little sushi restaurant in Rockford that has a regular following with good reason. Every roll my wife and I have eaten here is delicious. They're doing it right and as locals we need to support small restaurant like this. The staff is very friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is great. All in all I love sushi so it goes without saying I love Marc's. Drop by for a fantastic meal
google avatar

Yomi O.

Yelp
The atmosphere is nice but the food needs work. This is a cute off beat causal yet intimate setting. Seats are limited so reservations are encouraged if you have an event after dinner. My husband had the beef fried rice which was bland. The presentation was nice but the taste is what matters. They were out of miso soup--tacky. I had the albacore, tuna, and fresh salmon nigiri, California roll, and rainbow roll. The fish was fresh so that was a plus. The California roll was wrapped in seaweed which is unusual, the cuts of sushi were sloppy and straggly, the rainbow roll was barely put together. Marc, was the chef and I assume the owner. I expected better when the owner is present.

Yelp
The worst sushi place EVER!!!!!!!! Manager is so rude!!!! All the rolls we were served were freezing cold! They are inedible! The manager kept giving me his history of the restaurant and told me to never come back when I let him know all the food is cold! He told me he knows what sushi is and is not even Japanese! Raised his voice at me and is unbearably rude.Stating do you know how to read the menu and know what you ordered! Never going back!!!!!!

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. What a fantastic experience. Service was prompt and staff were attentive to details and very friendly, even when we needed to flag one of them down. Ordered an appetizer of fried calamari. The sauce provided had a rich, spicy flavor that complemented the texture of the calamari. The sushi itself... all I can say is wow. I ordered the "Marc's Fusion Roll" which had a terrific flavor. The ingredients were fresh and served below room temperature, which is an important characteristic for good sushi. The portions were huge too, 10 pieces per order! I could barely finish it, but this sushi is too good to be eaten later. Overall a great experience, one I hope to enjoy again. Easily one of the top sushi places in Rockford.
google avatar

Yelp
Marc's is a strange beast to me... I've been there 3 times and ordered out a handful. It might just be my luck but every time I try to hit this place up there's a 50/50 chance that I'll leave empty-handed. Here's the lowdown: First off, the food as a whole is great. Fried rice is huge, done up right and jammed with meat of your choice and tasty veggies. Sushi rolls are ridiculously sized and delicious - hands down the best sushi value in Rockford. Haven't had much of the hot dishes but what I've had is great. Crab Rangoon is very good but honestly not "Go there special on Saturday (the only day they have it) and try to show up before they inevitably run out" good. Now for the bad news: They're closed Sunday and Monday and only open for 2 hours at lunch the rest of the week, then not open again until 5:00. They're packed during all reasonable dining hours on Friday and Saturday due to the small amount of tables and there is no formal seating system, so you just have to kind of stand around in the entryway (which is also surrounded by tables) until someone up and leaves. In some cases it can be a really long wait, though no one is there to tell you that. They don't take reservations. I've tried to go 2 times only to find out when I got there that they were closed for bad weather, even on days that weren't that bad. And one time I tried to get some sushi at lunch but they couldn't sell me any because they were out of rice and they wouldn't be back in stock until THE NEXT DAY. I get the feeling the owner of Marc's Fusion is an excellent chef and a sub-par business owner. The result is an excellent dining experience, when you can manage to get it. I still consider Marc's the best sushi in Rockford and one of my favorite restaurants, but I just wish they'd work out their flaws so they could be spectacular.

Matthew B.

Yelp
Small place with about 10 tables and 2 counters. Busy on a Friday evening. Ab Fab sushi!! Fresh. Well Prepared. Quality. Definitely coming back. 2/21/20 - Back again, just as yummy. Busy place.

Yelp
Went to Marc's after a long day of work with a colleague. We're from out of town and in the mood for sushi. Marc's seems a bit out of the way and I was discouraged by the full parking lot based on the reviews, it's not very big inside. We walked right in and sat down. Not a very big place but on a Tuesday evening at 7 they weren't that busy. Not sure where all the cars were from. Our waitress greeted us immediately and was very attentive throughout our stay. She was funny, and gave some good recommendations for sushi. We ordered 4 rolls that all had the promise of being good. They were "innovative" i.e. one had fried chicken but when they were served they weren't tightly rolled, all four of them. So, when you pick the roll up with the chopsticks they fell apart, completely. This messed the experience up for me and my friend. We made due and finished up. All in all, Marc's was a firm 3 stars. Service was excellente and food would have been awesome had it stayed all together like normal sushi should

Yelp
AMAZING sushi! I had never been here before but Marc's was reccomend to me. We only waited 10 min for a table. Best sushi I've had in the Midwest! Our waitress who looked like Madonna was fantastic! Definetly reccomend to any sushi lovers!
google avatar

Margaret R.

Yelp
Like all of their reviews, it is small, it is packed, there will be a wait, it will be worth it! After putting in our names, we got Mai Tais at the bar and stepped outside to enjoy the nice fall evening while we waited. This was our first visit. Marc's was recommended by an acquaintance on a flight. While we waited we ran into some old friends who frequent Marc's. Thanks to their recommendations, we had a wonderful meal. We sat at the sushi bar, watching Marc make our rolls. We had spicy tuna and Vegas rolls wrapped in soy paper. They were the best rolls I have had. We were full and could have stopped there, but we also ordered Jim's Fusion and the Scallop dinner. Everything was delicious, but the sushi was the star!
google avatar

Karen B.

Yelp
Food is excellent! We went on a Sat night at 5:45 and had to wait for about 20 mins for a table. There's really no where to wait so you are standing next to tables of diners. This place is really small so even accommodating a party of 4 took some maneuvering of combining tables. This would not be good for a large party. Crab Rangoons are amazing. Pork chops were HUGE (you can easily split this meal since you get 2), Hannibal and Vegas rolls were really good. Loved the fried rice! Serve was excellent. Our bill was $110 for 2 ppl. 2 entrees, sushi and drinks. Can't wait to return. Wish they had outdoor seating but the area's a bit sketch.

Yelp

Good - not great. I was expecting a lot more and was a little let down. First off the good: Maki - was very good and the quality, presentation, and amount you get for your money makes these a great value. The crab Rangoon were over the top awesome. They were lightly breaded, clearly hand-made not your typical Chinese restaurant style... these are worth a trip to this establishment by themselves. The fried rice was to die for. I saw it mentioned in another Yelp! review so remembered to try it and it was fantastic and also a great value. Drinks were great! Good price and great selection. The fusion menu options looked fantastic and were priced as I would expect. Now the bad: (Sorry). I came for sushi and sashimi... as well as some maki. The sushi ordered a la carte is WAY pricey. The only dinner that seemed affordable was the sashimi dinner at $25. First off... soup or salad. 99% of every Japanese restaurant gives you both, not here. Secondly the size of the pieces of fish was ridiculously small/thin. No rice was included with the sashimi which is just silly... who eats sashimi without steamed rice? Lastly the quality of the sashimi fish was not there. It was not fresh, and had that fishy taste/smell which they tried to mask with lemons even on the salmon. The served sardines (and quite a few pieces) as sashimi... really?? I know there is authentic Japanese style sushi/sashimi and then there is American style. My wife asked for more American style which generally means more salmon and less "weird" fish like sardines in particular. They also failed to serve the standard white tuna which is my favorite. The short of the long is I would go back, but I will stick to rolls/fusion food and stay away from sashimi.

Yelp
Amazing and fresh sushi but the place is very small, a tip is getting there around the time it opens to avoid waiting for a table-- but I heard they were moving to a bigger location soon-- this should be good! Amazing drinks and mouth watering sushi which comes in a HUGE platter when you are in a big group. I have been here a couple of times and I have never been disappointed.

Yelp
Every time I eat there I am shocked that I don't remember how good this place is. While small and sometimes there is a bit of a wait, it is totally worth it.

Yelp
Very fresh and well made. That being said, I think this place is overrated. The sushi is very simple and nothing to write home about. The actual restaurant is extremely tiny and on a Friday night, good luck getting seated. If you're into hole in the wall sushi, this place is for you. For me, when here I often feel like I have no room to enjoy my sushi, I felt like I had to rush so someone else could have our table, which makes it hard to fully enjoy.

Yelp
The best sushi in an 80 mile radius. Their hibachi entrees are also stellar (seriously the garlic sauce will make you drool ). The romantic ambiance and attentive service cements it as a perfect date night spot.

Yelp
Fusion focused on Japanese food. Excellent price and great flavors. Today I eat the smoked salmon, garlic chicken, seared scallops and a small set of sushi. Everything was delicious. This is a very small restaurant but with a nice atmosphere.

Yelp
Omg... The pork chops... enough said!!!! This is undisputedly the best sushi place in the Rockford area. I will be back over and over and over again.

Yelp
Came here with a friend who recommended this place since I wanted sushi. So many people in Rockford rave about this place and talk about getting a seat here is so hard. The place inside is small...and I do mean small! The decor needs work to be honest...people eat with their eyes before their mouths. The sushi menu was nothing outstanding or crazy...just simple rolls. The prices were right and the food was decent. I do give them credit of giving huge pours of vodka in my drink. Was I impressed by the service or food...no. Is it priced right..yeah...

Yelp
Arrived at 5:45 on a Friday and were seated right away. Did not seem to be the case for patrons arriving after us. I ordered the seared tuna/seaweed salad. So good. The portion was quite large and could have probably been my whole meal. I also ordered the rainbow roll and it was spot on. I attempted to order a piece of marinated tuna, but it never arrived to the table... The service was lacking. This could've been a five star review if our waitress had been personable on any level. And, if she'd brought my piece of tuna.
