The Best Brunch Restaurants in Montreal | Eater Montreal

"There’s little competition for an impossibly chic weekend brunch in Montreal: Marcus Samuelsson’s Four Seasons Hotel restaurant is it. Expect eggs Benedict with red wine-glazed ham and mustard hollandaise, a lobster omelet draped in Gruyère, and a slick brunch cocktail list — all in a striking indoor-outdoor Zebulon Perron-designed space." - Valerie Silva

The Best Rooftop Bar and Restaurants in Montreal - Eater Montreal

"Chef Marcus Samuelsson’s Montreal restaurant — and covered terrasse — is nestled in the Four Seasons hotel, where guests can expect top-shelf food and drink. Though technically not on a rooftop, the third-floor space is elevated enough to offer jaw-dropping views of the surrounding downtown area, including Crescent Street’s Leonard Cohen mural." - Valerie Silva, Kaitlyn McInnis, Tim Forster

25 Best Restaurants in Montreal | Condé Nast Traveler

"There's something about chef Marcus Samuelsson's Canadian debut at the Four Seasons Montreal that transcends the typical "slap a name on it" celebrity-chef-in-a-hotel restaurant. From the design to the menu, it has a special feel to it. Splurge on a seafood tower ($170 CAD), then go for one of the well-seasoned crudos (we loved the yellowtail with chilis and wheat berries). A robata grill section of the menu feels particularly in-step with dining trends elsewhere. The whole-grilled sea bass is perfectly executed, and—even at $220 CAD—the tomahawk steak with shishito peppers and wild mushrooms is a satisfying choice." - Todd Plummer, Isa Tousignant

From the moment I stepped into Marcus, I knew I was in for a treat. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff were genuinely friendly. But the real star of the show? Without a doubt, the blueberry pancakes. Oh. My. Goodness. These weren't just any pancakes; they were little clouds of heaven, bursting with juicy blueberries in every single bite. The texture was perfectly light and fluffy, and they had a subtle sweetness that was absolutely divine. They were served with just the right amount of syrup and a dollop of what tasted like fresh cream cheese, completing the most perfect breakfast I've had in ages. Seriously, if you go to Marcus, ordering the blueberry pancakes is an absolute must. They are simply unforgettable!

We had the most magical experience at Marcus! It was supposed to be my daughter’s prom night, but she didn’t attend; so we decided to make the evening special in our own way, she always wanted to go there, i made the réservation and I called the restaurant last minute to ask if they could leave a little note on her dessert, and although they said it might be too short notice, they went above and beyond. When we arrived, there was a beautiful note waiting on the table, and the staff were incredibly kind and thoughtful. Everyone congratulated her, and it truly made her feel celebrated and seen. You turned what could have been a sad night into one she’ll always remember. Thank you for your kindness, your care, and your amazing service. You made her night—and mine—absolutely unforgettable. 💖 I can’t recall the waiter's name, but he was someone we will never forget. He was an exceptional person, very kind, and provided exceptional service! Thank you VERY much, Marcus team!

In -20 degree ugly winter I was looking for a restaurant where I could wear a delicate dress and high heels without carrying a big bag to change. They are the only one I found, the underground valet parking where I didn’t have to wear a winter coat and able to drive from room to room. At the same time I wanted the instagrammable atmosphere, and also tastes good. This restaurant gets me all. Foods on pics are the ones I’ve been ordered over and over again. They serve white truffles and black truffles in the restaurant. To get an idea the amount on the pic is 2 grams of white truffles. The green mushroom dish is really nice.

Great service by Luc and delicious food. Had the shrimp cocktail, filet mignon and chocolate dessert. My friend had the salmon tartare and burrata. We’ll be back again soon:)

I stopped in at this Restaurant for brunch with a friend and it was the perfect spot to go to. First of all, the space is gorgeous. I was lucky to go on a day where the weather was nice, so they had the windows open, letting in fresh air and a gentle breeze. Weirdly, at the far end of the restaurant by the windows, there seemed to be some water leaking from the planters, which was very weird. Other patrons at nearby tables also pointed it out to the manager, so it must be a new issue they're having. Aside from that one issue, the restaurant is beautiful. The attached lounge is also nice, but needs more frequent sweeps and service to maintain a polished appearance and avoid cups left over from previous guests and chairs not tucked in. As for the food, I got the Pancakes, which were delicious and lemon-y and rich, and the Blueberries were perfectly ripe. None were overly soft or mushy. I also got some bacon, which was fine, but nothing special. My friend got the French Toast which was decadent and crispy on the outside, warm and soft on the inside, a perfect taste. We also got the seasonal juice, which was something watermelon carrot, but I wasn't a fan of it, personally. Ultimately, this restaurant is on the pricier end of the spectrum but they more than make up for it with the quality and taste of their food. I will definitely go back and try other menu items! Do note their brunch is only on weekends.

I’ve visited the bar a few times, and unfortunately, the experience has been consistently disappointing. The bartenders have been quite rude, and it often feels like the staff behind the bar are inexperienced or not taking their roles seriously. On multiple occasions, I was asked to pay before even seeing the drinks, which comes across as unprofessional. Some of the staff even appeared to be under the influence while working. There was one bartender whose cocktails were outstanding — he was the main reason I kept returning — but he hasn’t been there lately, which has made the experience even worse. Overall, the bar feels overpriced for the level of service provided. Important note: My comments apply only to the bar. The restaurant, on the other hand, is excellent — the service, food, and overall atmosphere there are always worth it. Thank you.

Google
Beautiful restaurant inside the Four Seasons Hotel. The service was amazing & friendly. The drinks were good & change every few months. Food was very good, but i would almost consider some dishes to be fine dining dishes since portions are small but very fancy. To be full, you will definitely have to take an appetizer & dessert. Overall great experience. The waiter brings a platter of all the desserts available (about 6 options). The lounge late at night gets crowed, almost turning into a club. On the other side, the night lounge is perfect. Thank you

Yelp
One of the best restaurants we tried during our visit to Montreal. Elegant and classy when you enter this modern setting and great for special occasions. We ordered the Piccadilly, Black Cod, Oysters and Octopus. This ranks in our top three of best seafood we have had. Service was first class and our waiter was amazing and even made a special dessert for my wife's birthday.

Yelp
Marcus is located in the four seasons hotel. The name comes from chef Marcus Samuelsson. Reservation are recommended for this location. We started with drinks at the bar we got here a little before the reservation time. I was really impressed that they would explain how they made that powder on the drink and how is was named the forbidden fruit. Illegal in the states, apparently every perfume that has a vanilla sent has that fruit in it. I always find it interesting to learn random facts. It was time to find a table we started with the tuna and the salmon as appetizer easy quick bites. We got the eggplant as a main I was not a fan. My friend loved it. We finish with 3 little bites one was a brownie with walnuts, a berry jelly and the last one he called it a raspberry rice crispy. I will be coming back because I need to try the main salmon.

Yelp
Good food, on point ambiance. Went for the team dinner and had an amazing time . Would totally recommend the place for some good food and wine.

Yelp
Menu: Appreciate they are progressive in their menu having a selection of non-alcoholic cocktails, and full selection of vegetarian entrees. Bravo. I appreciate that the side dishes are as you order it as opposed to combo'd with the entree. Drinks: why the ridiculous iPad drink menu? It isn't even that long or extensive. Cocktails are pretty things. Taste good too. Even the non alcoholic ones, you won't even miss it and you can skip the calories. Service: attentive without being intrusive, never interrupted a conversation and food sequence was on point. It could be because we took an earlier seating time. He was always around and attentive even at our awkward table nestled between the palm trees. I think it was Josh, or Jacob... j... very professional, the kind of thing you see at a fine dining michelin star resto. Food: we had salmon tartare delicious and fresh; grilled octopus wonderfully massaged, charred and the marinade evident (purple endive was a great addition); black cod lacked the silky fattiness I expect but a good dish, lamb chops which were cooked to perfection. Rappini was dead on arrival, I like my veggies on the lively crisper side. We were presented with a dessert tray which I have to say I haven't seen since the late 80s and I was delighted. It's a great marketing tool and it worked! We had the raspberry tart drizzled with olive oil, and the Japanese cheesecake which was like eating a creamy cloud (they nailed the texture) served with sliced plums and a compote. Decor: this is a knock out, French glam, retro modern, loved the airiness afforded by the terrace and the tropical plantings. The counter seating looked fun for foodies. Perhaps a consequence of post Covid times, the crowd isn't overly dressy.. either that or I'm just too old to care. I walked in with a floral print shirt, my vuori pants and sneakers. I regret not checking the washrooms, next time! Price: I can agree with the comments on the prices and what ends up on your plate (or cup) But then again you are dining at the Four Seasons, so... $29 glass of Sancerre! But we must drink something. I will not be defeated.

Yelp
We stayed at the four seasons for our weekend trip to Montreal and with that we had dinner and drinks at the Marcus. The first time we sat at the bar and just had drinks, very cute section, the bartender was very kind and gave us her favorite restaurant recommendations and made us our drinks - the best espresso martini I've ever had! The second time we came for dinner and drinks. Our waiter was super helpful and fast, drinks were just as good as the day before but a little less strong so I wonder if sitting at the bar is an advantage. First course we had a cold crab and lobster starter as well as buratta. Both insanely incredibly! For our mains we both got the lobster Piccadilly pasta, my boyfriend thought it was a little rich but I thought it was perfect. Huge chunks of lobster and thick pasta noodles. One of our best meals on our vacation

Yelp
I'm no longer recommending Marcus as my favourite place to eat at for dinner. The dinner we had was expensive (which is fine) but deeply disappointing. The breakfast is still excellent but the lunch and dinner menus leave a lot to be desired. Here is what the table had to say about what they each ordered: Focaccia was agreed to be the best item of the entire night. I think this says it all about how the rest of the meal went, when everyone had wished they just ordered bread instead. ---- Cauliflower: Mushy, soft, steamed. Junk thrown on top. Probably the worst dish of the night. Octopus: Overcooked. Another disappointment. Lobster Pasta: Oily, and not enough pasta. Black Cod: Fine, but what was the edamame doing in that? It had no business being there. Branzino: Fine. Probably the best one of all the options if you must choose one because someone else is paying. Truffle Fries: Can't even taste the truffle, huge disappointment. Overall, everything is also too salty which ruins the flavour of the otherwise good raw ingredients, but this place for lunch and dinner is no longer a viable option for us. For desserts, they were across the board a disappointment as well. Sloppily conceived as dishes and not well excited (Baba au rhum for instance, is normally not a hard block of stale cake.) Breakfast still remains excellent but it's hard to screw that up. Will definitely not be coming back except for breakfast. It is either he is now just trading on his fame and name, or whoever is in charge of the menu is just experimenting. Ambiance is always excellent, waitstaff cannot be denied. Love the service which is what makes all of this all the more disappointing. The execution of the dishes however, does not live up to the price tag.

Yelp
Lovely Xmas eve dinner here. Absolutely loved the bread and salted French butter. The salads were awesome- the greens was more than enough to share, and the tomato/ burrata/ watermelon was smaller, and amazing. We split the cauliflower and the Branzino, which was a good call after all the salad. The cauliflower was my fave of the meal- apparently fried first and then baked. Tender all the way through and super flavorful. Gosh was fine, but not extraordinary. But the dessert- special for Xmas I believe- called eggnog chocolate something- was very shareable, with dark creamy chocolate, and something a little crunchy also, which was a great combo. Very nice meal here.

Yelp
I stayed at the Four Seasons and came down for dinner around 6pm on a Tuesday. I didn't have a reservation but they gave me a table over at the lounge area. The restaurant wasn't super busy but I was also under dressed, so maybe that's why they sat me in the lounge space. They were polite about it though and willing to serve me from the full menu. I ordered the burrata which was pretty good. It had a light yuzu flavour which I appreciated. I ordered the piccadilly lobster pasta. The pasta dish was so bland and the lobster was over cooked. The pasta was cooked al dente, but wish it was bit softer. It wasn't any near what I expected for $44. I ended my meal off with a strawberry tart. My tart took almost 30 min to come, and the manager was kind enough to remove it from my bill. The tart had a really strong yuzu flavour and was sour from the strawberries. The flavours didn't go well together and I didn't enjoy it. The decor and ambience of this place is so nice and pretty! The service was excellent as well. My bill came to around $100, not including the dessert that the manager compd. I have to say that the food was definitely super disappointing.

Yelp
Very spacious place tucked away at the 4 seasons hotel Easy parking underground or across there's an open lot stuck to underground if it's the winter The food is great I had the black cod with veggies Portions were small but the quality was good and the cook was very decadent and flavorful wish there was more on the plate for the price Roasted cauliflower was super impressive the entire head that was super sweet Thé burrata was good but I didn't understand the concept of the sliced cucumbers around it ... Service: very good but it was kinda overkill ... if you can catch my drift They were always there and didn't let us converse with the friends we were enjoying the meal with ... Overall check it out if you have a chance it's a nice place to bring a date/ friends coworkers The only fallback is the music it gets very loud around 9-10pm not fun

Yelp
We had breakfast at Marcus, located on one of the upper floors of the Four Seasons. Excellent service, which is on-brand for a FS dining experience. Never an empty coffee cup or water glass, everything is prepared to diner preference (including weird modifications for kid palates), and the food was delicious. I tried the Marcus scramble (the eggs were silky and lush), another of us had the lobster omelette (also delicious), and our youngest diner had the pancakes (every accompaniment on the side - of course). Great experience overall, and the windows/terrace-adjacent setting give you the feeling of being outdoors. It's a serene, soothing environment, especially first thing in the morning.

Yelp

Yelp
Dine for a birthday dinner, probably should have done brunch instead. Service was the high point and our composed plates (cod, branzino, risotto) were great (which is expected). Lobster/crab appetizer was okay, wanted more for $90, would go oysters and shrimp next time. Ask for bread because the focaccia was amazing (some of the best ever). Our wine experience was excellent, the sommelier guided us to a limited bottle, while pricey, seemed special. This is a big restaurant, had hoped for an intimate dining experience. Not sure of the decor but the 90s wicker chairs gotta go, try to get a booth. Finally, the desserts were good, if you aren't full by the end of the meal. Better than the restaurant at the Ritz but Montreal has better.

Savannah L.

Yelp
Service -- incredible Ambiance -- very good Food -- very expensive / small portions / not as good as expect Service & ambiance were great Food left a lot to be desired. The lobster pasta was extremely small -- the size you typically get when you split a pasta, if not smaller. The lamb was also quite small, and not the highest quality. I expect better quality lamb from a restaurant in the Four Seasons. I am okay paying $45 for lobster pasta, however the lobster was the size of a shrimp and the pasta itself was quite small. The octopus was VERY good, best thing we had.

Yelp
BREATHTAKING INTERIOR DESIGN! When I walked in, the interior design was beautiful! The lounge and restaurant are aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. There was even a window of fresh fish being hung near the reception area. We had Miss Tran as our waiter and she is SO WONDERFUL! She made our experience fun and she is kind to keep checking up on us. Dishes: Tuna tartare, it was fresh and nice, we asked for rice chips on the side to use it as a dip. The tuna needed a bit more of a seasoning and citrus flavour to bring out the freshness and remove the fishy taste. I asked for a slice of lime on the side. Overall, the rice chips was delicious with this tuna tartare Picadilly, this dish was my least favourite. It looked sooo saucy but the flavours were bland. Crab wasn't as fresh and the lobster was a bit overcooked. Overall it was generic Lamb chops: my fav dish out of the 3, I would just order 2 of these with the tuna tartare and call it a night. The lamb is tender and they cooked it perfectly when I asked for medium rare. The flavours and sauces were perfect! Drinks: mock tails - edens garden , refreshing citrus, tangy and sweet. Lovely with the food to refresh the palette Dessert. It was my birthday and I have to say, AMAZING chocolate cake. Not so sweet and just nice and light! Lovely! I would recommend to come back here for the food and interiors. Customer service is amazing and staff is very sweet and well trained! Will definitely come back when I visit Montreal again Haha I

Yelp
Food: 10/10 - I got the burrata to start and it was very fresh. Then, I got the chicken sandwich and it was absolutely delicious. Service: 10/10 - Rosalie was very sweet, attentive & friendly! Ambiance: 9/10

Yelp
The brunch is boogie. The server was very friendly. Loved the avocado toast and the waffles are divine do not skip that! Ok to skip the chia seed pudding. Various latte options. Amazing bathroom!

Yelp
I didn't have a reservation for dinner but they were nice enough to accommodate us in the lounge. The ambiance is sleek and chic. Eating dinner in the lounge was somewhat harder due to the table space. We had the Princess scallops which were very petit.I should have ordered 12 instead of 6. For dinner, we had the wagyu burger, roasted cauliflower, truffle pasta and lamb chops. Wagyu burger and lamb chops were cooked to perfection. For dessert, we had the crème caramel which was smooth and delish. Overall, it was a very nice experience.

Yelp

Yelp
Came here for sunday brunch. I can't start this review without mentioning that if you are an interior design appreciator, you will be drooling over how well appointed this place is. The restaurant is super nice, but the hotel is pure eye-candy. Of course, it's inside the Four Seasons Hotel so stunning design is expected. We had reservations and got seated right away. We started with rose and really took our time. I think we were there for 2 hours. The food wasn't spectacular but it was very tasty and I did not think the price was outrageous. Yes, it's not cheap but it isn't exorbitant. We had avocado toasts, and the all american breakfast. Our server was attentive, was not overly communicative, and everything she suggested was a home run. I'd definitely be back.

Yelp
Great restaurant with amazing food and even better service!! On the expensive side but really worth it if you want to feel fancy and you want to celebrate! Would definitely recommend

Yelp
I went to the restaurant and the food was good. I had the octopus and the salmon sashimi. The cocktails were just missing something, Ocarina was good but I wouldn't recommend ordering the Verona.

Yelp
Went to Marcus with the girlfriend for date night. The restaurant was on the top floor of the 4 season and had an impressive decor: dim lights, quiet background music and chic tabling. We started with the octopus platter, which was good but not excellent (nor worth the 28$ tag). I got the 28 day chicken plate and the girlfriend got the crab pasta. The chicken was delicious and well cooked, but no taste difference from a regular chicken. The crab pasta had a strong seafood taste, so it was difficult to finish the whole plate. The bread was delicious too.

Yelp
Sunday morning around 8 am, I went to Marcus for breakfast with a friend. The building is easy to find with its neon at the entrance, the greeting at the door was courteous. The restaurant is located on the third floor, at the opening of the elevator doors you'll find a reception desk. The hostess asked me if I was a client of the hotel, I replied no and that I just came for breakfast with a friend. It was early, the restaurant was empty ... And there things became a little weird. I am a person who likes taking photos and so I was happy to have arrived before the crowd, I thought that I could take beautiful ones... Except that the hostess directed me to a table in a corner behind a wall, so my angle for photos was very limited. I found it strange considering all the vacant space. Five minutes later, a young woman arrived and was seated in the middle of the room, followed by a couple, which was seated at the other end close to the windows. My waiter asked me if I wanted something to drink while waiting for my friend, I asked him if he had mocaccino, he answered, what? Given the look he gave me, I figured it was useless to try to explain and asked him for a simple latte. My friend finally arrived, she was barely seated that the waiter rushed with our orders, she literally had to choose while he waited next to the table (no pressure at all). I ordered the Benedictine eggs with a juice. The Benedictine eggs were good but nothing creative or even extraordinary, for comparison, I recently went to Radicelle and had to most creative and tasty Benedictine eggs ever (100% worth the trip!). We had just finished eating, our plates were cleared and instead of asking us if we wanted anything else, the waiter informed us that he will be bringing our bills. My friend and I looked at each other in surprise, not understanding his eagerness given the almost empty restaurant. After having paid, we pursued with our conversation and a waiter passed by our table to check if there was anything to get rid of. We left. The interior of this restaurant is exceptional, I'd easily give it a 5/5, my Benedictine eggs were good but nothing innovative, I didn't really like the texture of the biscuit, the juice was also a little bit too watery for me and honestly, I was expecting way better food, I'd rate it 3/5. Finally, the service was very cold, I clearly felt like they did not want me there, so I'll give it a 2/5... and message received, I won't be back.

Yelp
Wanting to see this restaurant for myself, when my friend wanted to do her birthday brunch there, I jumped in! We reserved a table for 11am and the restaurant was about half full. For a group of 6 we took the half circle table with a bench. Whole waiting for the rest of the group to arrive, the waiter suggested me and Mimosa so I said sure why not. They're a little bit pricey--they're $16 a pop. The brunch menu includes the AYCE dessert table. So I chose my main with desserts in mind. My pick was the beet gravlax. I enjoyed the gravlax but the rest of the dish was underwhelming--the salad tasted like there was no dressing on it and the toast was quiet tough and difficult to cut through. My friends liked the avocado toast with the runny egg on top and the eggs Benedict which comes with a bowl of bacon. The red endive salad wasn't so great as the other friend struggled to eat it. The dessert table however was the redeeming factor for me. The strawberry tart is absolutely delightful. You must get a slice! The table ran out of strawberry tarts and we asked the waiter for more so he brought us three extra slices to our table. The coffee is unlimited refills so I think my friends drank 3 cups of coffee each!! It's nice to finish the meal with pickings from the dessert table. I told them it was my friend's birthday so they brought a flan with a sparkler in it and gave her the Mimosa for free. That's a nice little treat :) Service was nice but not extraordinary. We had to wait a little bit for our waiter to come find us but otherwise, he was very pleasant. The brunch menu is reasonably priced--if you don't go for a Mimosa!!

Yelp
You definitely pay for the location and decor more than the quality of the food. Located inside the Four Season Hotel downtown. The restaurant is very nice and has an open terrace. Must say that the restaurant and hotel did a good job at taking precautions during the pandemic. You must disinfect your hands as soon as you walk in the hotel and must wear a mask until you seat down at your table. I went to the bathroom during dinner and had forgotten to put my mask and was reminded that I must wear a mask while walking around ~ good job! The restaurant also added flexi-glass separator in between tables that were too close to each other. Now for the drinks ~ good selection and drinks were nice but definitely ok the pricey side. The cheapest glass of bubbly was $20. For the food, I took a tuna tartare and it didn't look nor tasted amazing for the price tag. I had made a tuna tartare myself over the weekend and it tasted and looked much better than what has been presented in such a " high end " restaurant. As for the crowd there...definitely people who want to be seen ~ younger patrons in their early 20s. If not, much older people with money most likely people who are staying at the hotel. I feel like this is a place you go to be seen and pay for the decor rather than for the food itself. Ok for business lunch or dinner but would not recommend if you simply want to eat a good meal.

Yelp
Sadly overhyped restaurant. The drinks are great and the bar lounge looks decent. If you're thinking of booking it, you could try the lounge first and peek into the restaurant. Atmosphere: 2/5. The restaurant is located on the 3rd floor of the Four Seasons hotel. You walk across the lounge bar before reaching the large restaurant room. Apparently there is a QR code at the entrance that we can scan to get the menu. I missed it and the person who greeted me did not mention it either. Also our table had no QR code taped on it and no paper menu either (it was brought later when the waitress arrived). If you want to look at the menu while waiting for the staff, open the Four Seasons' website. The decoration is particular. The black and white floor tiles remind me of dinners and their simpler and warmer atmosphere. The ceiling is white immaculate. The colour theme is largely white and shiny: marble counter, glass dividers. Some waiters are dressed all white while others (busboys?) are all black. Surprisingly, we were seated at an old chipped wooden table. I appreciate old and used items and decors, but this again was contrasting with the rest. Furthermore the table had no tablecloth. It had a small copper-like lamp that was working with the shiny theme. Speaking of light, it has a rather strong yellow. It's a good challenge if you are into food photography. The large room evokes a canteen more than a high-end restaurant. We might have been seated at a bad spot (opposite of the entrance, in front of the DJ set which was unused when we arrived). The acoustics is the one you would expect from such a large and mostly undivided room. It was a busy Saturday night and it was loud. Too loud. We were at a round table and it was hard to hear everyone. Furthermore none of the staff was making an effort to speak louder. Keep in mind they had to speak while wearing masks. Finally, despite going through two checkpoints (the first at the lounge bar for checking our IDs and vaccination proofs, then the restaurant), nobody offered to take care of our belongings (coats, hats, umbrellas). The customers around us had put theirs on the floor or when possible, on their chairs and tables. This was an awkward first impression. Bathrooms: the ladies corner has a nice Middle Eastern atmosphere with arches. Check pictures on Instagram. Many users were waiting their turn to take pictures. The gents corner is so much black and white you could think you've lost the ability to see colours. It is special. Waiting staff: 3/5. In general our waitress was speaking too softly. She however checked on us regularly and promptly brought us missing or extra items we requested. The person (wearing black, busboy?) who brought the seafood tower was in a rush to present all the items and leave. He was speaking fast and we couldn't get everything he said but he already had disappeared. For a $220 starter, it was quite the disappointment but I'll get back to it. Cocktails: 5/5. Definitely the highlight of the night. They are well-made, made quickly, beautiful and the list abundant. Sommelier: 3/5. We asked for Gabriel's services because our party had ordered a mix of red meat and white fish. Quite the challenge, but that's what sommeliers are for. The wine he suggested, a Spanish Daterra (I believe) was a great red, but not the best pairing to go with swordfish and turbot. Food: 4/5. Well presented, tasty and served at the right temperatures and cooking. However, it was a bit lifeless. Maybe that was on purpose to be in line with the simplistic chic theme. For instance, the burrata (white) came in a small, white plate. So were the swordfish and turbot. Given the black and white theme, I would have expected dark plates to highlight the dishes. The absence of any accompaniment (barring sauce for the turbot and I think lettuce shreds for the burrata) made most dishes feel naked and incomplete. Onto the seafood tower. Why it is priced $220 remains a mystery. According to the small quantities, it is correctly offered in the starters section. Don't get me wrong, everything was great. But I would not recommend it for two to four people, just for two people. And I would review the pricing. For that price you can get almost three 15oz Wagyu steaks (Alberta, graded BMS 8) served with delicious crispy and (for once!) colourful vegetables. In conclusion: try the lounge bar and get a feel of the restaurant. If you are staying at the Four Seasons, it is worth ordering room service and enjoy delicious food in peace. Date: Oct 16, 2021

Yelp
Outstanding and expensive. This is a modern, sleek restaurant that's fairly new inside Four Seasons. But let's talk about the food: everything was executed perfectly, texture and taste balanced every dish like a true chef knows. Service was excellent, we were accommodated right away without reservations made in advance. Get the chocolate cake dessert, it's great with nothing else next to it. And the halibut which is perfectly crispy and fresh.

Yelp
One of the worst breakfasts in town. Scrambled eggs are overcooked. Bad coffee. Service is slow and incompetent. Let's hope the people who run this place are having a laugh at the mooks who eat here because of the celebrity chef. Then at least someone would be enjoying this.

Yelp
We were excited to try this restaurant, being admirers of Marcus Samuelson, but unfortunately we left feeling very disappointed in every aspect. The service, while friendly, was very inconsistent. There were long lapses in-between being seated, our order being taken, and courses served. The food was bland, uninspired, and overcooked, and doubly suffered from also not being served in a timely manner. It seemed like the kitchen staff lacked attention to detail and any pride in what was being sent to the table. The ambience, atmosphere, and the restaurant as a whole felt dated - as if someone who hadn't ever visited a contemporary restaurant was tasked with creating one using only television cooking shows and movies about chefs from ten years ago as their source material. Would definitely not recommend, as we had much better experiences at other, actually contemporary and inventive restaurants in Montreal.

Yelp
What an experience this restaurant is!! As soon as you walk in downstairs, they make you feel welcomed and COVID measures are directly taken (temperature check and hand gel). Marcus is on the third floor and the floor it's on has a lounge area and a bar as well. The bathrooms are absolutely splendid and deserve their own moment! The restaurant itself is absolutely stunning. It is very obvious a lot of thought has been put in the design and architecture process. We were greeted by our waitress who immediately brought us hot bread with sumac butter, it was delicious! We ordered oysters, the tomato salad, the green salad as starters. Everything was very good, felt very fresh as well. The oysters had two different sauces on the side and both were delicious. The tomato salad is, in my opinion, better than the green salad. The mix of ingredients and the mozzarella just ties the whole plate together. As main plates, we ordered the gindara salmon (absolutely delicious, the glazed gindara is phenomenal), the chicken breast (could've gone without, wasn't the most impressive), the fried chicken (was a little scared to order this at first, but definitely did not regret, it was out of the ordinary. The spicy honey sauce is incredible) and the wagyu burger (extremely tender meat, very well put together). All and all, Marcus is an out of the ordinary culinary experience in Montréal. I would definitely go there again, maybe try brunch this time!

Yelp
Food was ok, a bit disappointed for the lobster omelette, expected more lobster with that price but mostly vegetables. But in general enjoyed the food. Very frustrated how they charged the coffee. We were 6 adults with some children, ordered 6 cup of coffee and was not told they were charging for each refill. Waiter told us about the no bill splitting and 18% tips but felt like they are hiding the coffee refill part. Each cup of coffee was like half full and we got around 2 refill each. Ended up charged us 11 cups of coffee for $6/ each. We just felt being scam on that. Location wise was good as the hotel was beautiful. kids have waffle which was ok but doesn't worth to pay that price with just waffle and fruits.

Yelp
We were a group of four who came here for dinner on a Friday night. I was excited to try out the restaurant because of Marcus Samuelsson's reputation. The restaurant is on the third floor of the hotel and features a chic interior. Despite the fact that it is an upscale restaurant it doesn't have an ultra formal vibe to it. Seafood is the star here. We started with a seafood platter which at $150 was suitable to split four ways. It consisted of oysters, clams, shrimp, several kinds of sashimi, lobster and crab. For the most part I enjoyed it with the tuna sashimi being my favourite part. Certain aspects of the platter though missed the mark such as the clams. From there we split halibut and pasta with crab. Both dishes were very well prepared though the pasta could have contained more crab. I did like the addition of breadcrumbs to the pasta. It added a little crunch to the dish. For dessert we split sorbet, doughnut with peanut butter ice cream and apple fondant. The sorbet was mango flavoured and the mango dominated the taste. It wasn't overly sweet. The doughnuts were just okay but the peanut butter ice cream was excellent. As for the apple fondant I found that it was okay. Nothing terrible but nothing great either. There were also issues with the service. It seemed that our waiter paid more attention to some tables than to others. Perhaps he thought that he could get a better tip from those tables? We also never received bread and upon asking about this we were told you only got bread if you asked for it. That being said the waiter never told us this at the beginning of the meal so we didn't know that this was how the restaurant operates. As much as I wanted to like Marcus it just didn't live up to the hype. If I am paying top dollar for a meal I want to be blown away and I have to say that I wasn't. I feel like the restaurant has potential but it hasn't reached it just yet.

Yelp
This was first time we had dinner at Marcus. My husband and I had dinner here. 1/5/2020. The restaurant was looks expensive and it is!!! But every thing we ordered was very good and creative of course very fresh. We ordered whole red snapper with bokchoy. And watermelon and tomatoes caprese. Watermelon was strong seared with Gin that was very different and tasty with caprese. Red snapper was very fresh and cooked very well with simply tasty. Also Bokchoy cooked great. I would try to come back here in the summer time.

Yelp
A wonderful find! We stumbled upon this brand new restaurant... before the actual opening! They are located inside the new Montréal Four Season's hotel which is opening also in three days! They are operating in pre-opening and some aspects are still in the work, for instance, the wine by the glass prices were lacking prices and our waiter had to find it out. But otherwise it was a memorable experience. The menu has clearly some Ethiopian influence as most plates have spices accents. For instance my smoked salmon appetizer had a mixed of spices and some flowers mixed in. It was served with injera "chips" (done by an Ethiopian cook with teff). I had a hanger steak done in a berbere rub and served with a chimichurri sauce. The result was a succulent mixture of flavors. We ended our set menu with a delicious coconut mousse. The service was attentive, warm and professional. The execution was perfect which is great for such a young restaurant. The setting of the restaurant that integrates a huge open terrace is simply spectacular. We were told that the Four Season did invest $80 million in the restaurant. I think I can still go on for a while on my appreciation of the place but I'll leave some for the others. I just hope that they will be able to keep the experience at this level while the place fill up!

Yelp
This restaurant is drop dead gorgeous and the level of service offered will blow your mind. During their opening weekend, my partner and I visited for brunch. The restaurant is located in the newly opened Four Seasons hotel. The doorman warmly greeted us outside, escorted us to the restaurant and chatted with us along the way. Our server was very patient and handled my indecisiveness like a champ. She was attentive and checked in often. At one point, one of managers came over to check on us. We felt well taken care of! We tried the Hoe Cakes, which are like cornbread pancakes, the fried chicken sandwich, and the Bourbon Eggs Benedict. The portions were good and for that caliber of restaurant, I found the prices to be reasonable also. I'd give the food 4 stars. Though it was great, it didn't meet my expectations. I've visited another one of chef Marcus's restaurants, Red Rooster in Harlem, and the food was unreal and bursting with Southern flavours. Because of my experience with Red Rooster, I think I was expecting the same of Marcus. Don't get me wrong, the dishes that I tried at Marcus were delicious, but they didn't leave me in awe. Considering the fact that they were open less than a week when I visited, I'm sure they were still fine-tuning recipes. Once they've settled, I will 100% visit again. Even if only for the service, ambiance and decor, I'd still return!

Yelp
I've been waiting for the opening of this restaurant for what feels like forever, having discovered Marcus Samuelsson's cuisine at Red Rooster. Unfortunately besides the venue itself, the whole experience was disappointing. The restaurant is located on the third floor of the Four Seasons hotel in downtown Montreal and also boasts a great terrasse. The space itself is beautiful; very Art Deco with gorgeous brass touches, marble flooring and tables, and comfortable leather banquets. Definitely a place you'd go to be seen; we were there on a Wednesday evening and the place was packed solid with elegantly dressed clientele. As for the atmosphere, the space turned into a somewhat supper club with music going up a few notches around 9 pm. Once seated, our waitress apologetically greeted us for taking so long, and nicely explained the menu. It took along while before we saw her again and putting our order in was painful; she also had issues opening the bottle of wine to which we gladly helped her. The staff bringing the good over to our table seemed confused; they couldn't even answer our questions regarding the dishes. Having to ask for constantly ask for water at such an establishment is really a shame. The menu, as explained, is made to share so decided to start our evening with some oysters, and had a few appetizers including the salmon tartare, and the boneless chicken wings; note that we were four sharing but there were only three wings. The tartare comes in two sizes so that was easily split amongst us. We decided to order our mains separately. There were many specials available but I decided to go for the Cornish hen. The dish was underwhelming and I found the hen very dry. Thankfully, the deserts were a big hit. My chocolate coffee cake served with cardamom ice cream was perfection! Yeah! I'm hoping that the venue irons out their issues with service, as this place really is a nice addition to the Montreal scene; too bad the food was less than dazzling or might give it another chance. Will keep on my list for an apéro perhaps...

Yelp
This place is a must see. The view is not so incredible, however the atmosphere and design of the terrace/restaurant is beautiful. I came here for a drink on Wednesday night and it was full. I was somewhat surprised but at the same time I understood why. The decor is beautiful and the music was great. There was a live DJ too which made it feel like a lounge. The cocktails are really tasty, both my friends and I really enjoyed what we got. I would highly recommend visit this place. However, just be aware that it is quite pricey. But, the atmosphere really does make up for it

Yelp
Booked on OpenTable and nowhere did it say on the reservation that this place had a dress code. A tiny thing said OpenTable on the restaurants OpenTable page. The reservation tab and yelp both didn't stress it. I wore all black, with black joggers that could easily pass for black dress pants but was told it was not accepted when I walked into the four seasons lobby. I tried calling 2 times with the call ringing all the way through to ask about the dress code but no one picked up. After waiting 5 minutes I decided to reserve elsewhere. OpenTable wouldn't let me reserve until I cancelled my reservation at Marcus because of time collision, and Marcus only does over the phone cancellation, ultimately blocking my ability to reserve at another restaurant. I tried to call to cancel two more times to get no response again. Very disappointed with the management. Will give two stars because I'm not rating the food. Takeaway: PLACE REQUIRES BUSINESS CASUAL

Yelp
Poor service during a Monday lunch. Took awhile for the salad to arrive and dessert. I ordered a glass of wine for the main course and it arrived almost when I was ready for dessert. Steak was very firm, little to no tenderness. I expected a better experience.

Yelp
Absolutely phenomenal brunch experience. They were able to accommodate a last-minute reservation. The food was divine, and the Romeo and Juliette cocktail was fabulous. The ambiance was great; the crowd was lively and fun. I can't say enough great things.

Yelp
A very good seafood-forward restaurant and bar. Cons: hotel restaurant, small menu, obtrusive music in the evening in the search for "happening-ness", too precious presentation (for my taste). Pros: undeniable quality of food, extremely warm and sincere service, hotel restaurant (some times I like this), "all things to all people" because it has to meet every guest's need. I experienced this restaurant during my hotel stay and I was very satisfied. I can't imagine making a special trip to this resto but I could imagine coming here for drinks and eating something with my drinks. Hot morning (female) servers to wake you up.

Yelp
Pretty impressive ambience which I would give 5 stars, food is good with some minor issues deserving 3.5 stars but the service is below everything. The restaurant is located within four seasons hotel so you come with high expectations and get a total disappointment. It's a relatively new place and that could be a reason but the service we received deserves not more than 2 starts. Our waitress would not even refill our water and we would wait for a long time for her to show up. I believe she had a few tables to serve and could not distribute the time evenly. We ordered crab piccadilly pasta which was spicy and had good edge of interesting flavors, slightly overcooked. Halibut with eggplant puree and small pieces was really good except the purée which was very salty. Coconut cake dessert is a must, very light, mixes well with mango sorbet on top of it.

Yelp
Excellent restaurant, food and drinks were amazing. Our waitress (Karen) was very friendly, prompt and extremely knowledgeable. Would highly recommend this place!

Yelp
Not the greatest to be honest. Food was mediocre. The worst part was my water tasted really off. Half way through breakfast I found mold floating inside and on the side of the bottle. To top it off I was visibly pregnant. I told the server who was very nice and gave us two bottles of Evian. But that was kind of it... I was surprised a manager didn't speak with us about it. Really gross for the Four Seasons.

Yelp
This place is beautiful!!! Lovely views.. it made my wife happy that's for sure. I could sit in here all damn day.. The Brunch menu is very small but spot on really, they have everything you would want to eat listed. Our waiter was very nice and friendly and recommended a Jasmine Tea for me because they didn't have matcha. My wife ordered a latte and said that it was very good. The place wasn't very busy which was nice, they played smooth jazz and some R&B over the radio which pairs nicely with neat art pieces hanging on the walls. We loved the food, everything as fresh and clean. I though the yogurt was extremely good. It was very creamy and the honey add a nice hint of sweetness. The veggie omelette was fantastic as well.

Yelp
Don't come here for brunch. The ham is grey for the eggs benedict. The lobster omelette is watery and pathetic. The reception hasn't figured out to receive and even their butter was flavorless. Best thing on the table was the jam which I recommend to make the toast more tolerable.

Yelp
There are so many amazing restaurants in Montreal don't waste your time with this one. The service is atrocious, management does not seem to care. We aired almost 45 minutes for drinks and it was not busy, brought it to the attention of the manager and he didn't seem to care. Definitely didn't follow up to see if things got better, which they didn't. I spoke to him at the news and still seemed to not give a shh. Would never go back, we had such an amazing culinary experience in our four day trip to Montreal but unfortunately ended it here. Please save your money
