Maresco Is a Soho Seafood Restaurant From Escocesa Stoke Newington | Eater London

"A seafood-led restaurant with Galician ambitions is set to open on Berwick Street, showcasing langoustines, crabs and lobsters prepared with Spanish/Basque stylings built around a specials board. It is the third London venture for chef-operator Stephen Lironi, who also runs Stoke Newington’s Escocesa and tapas sibling Bar Esteban in Crouch End, and promises to carry the same Scottish-seafood-served-in-Spanish-stylings formula from N16. Expect simple neighbourhood Iberian dishes such as gambas al ajillo and pulpo, paired with Basque txakolina for an unpretentious dinner. The company was incorporated in June 2021, the site is replacing Yumchaa at the same address, and the restaurant is currently recruiting staff with an opening likely in a few weeks or months." - James Hansen

Cozy vibes, amazing energy, and a front-row seat to culinary magic! We sat at the bar and got to watch the team work seamlessly together—positivity and skill all around. The food? Absolutely delicious, creative, and served super fast. Portions are generous, and the flavor combinations are spot on. Bonus points for the fantastic moctel.Definitely a spot we can’t wait to come back to ☺️🤞🏻

Such an underrated gem! We went for Maresco’s pre-theatre menu and ordered their greatest hits: Croquettes, tortilla, cauliflower and halibut rice! We also ordered a ceviche which wasn’t included in the prix fie menu. Every single dish was delicious, and our favourite was the halibut rice. Very value for money and highly recommended!

My friend and I were nearby and came across this place when deciding dinner. A cute little place with open counter seating facing the kitchen / the road with table seating downstairs. We had the razor clams, charcoal cauliflower, the whole grilled fish with anchovy butter (forgot what kind of fish 😭) and the bread pudding. The fish was the star of the show, flaky and melted in your mouth! Kind staff as well, would definitely come back to try the rest of their menu.

We had an unforgettable evening at Maresco. Iván prepared the best gambas a la brasa we’ve ever had. It was my partner’s birthday, and when he found out, they surprised us with a basque cheesecake and the whole staff singing Happy Birthday. Such a beautiful and thoughtful gesture! Fabiola and Harol are incredible chefs with great vibes, and you can truly feel how united the whole team is. The atmosphere, the service, and the quality of the food were all outstanding. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended!

We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here. This is elevated, innovative tapas as good as any I have had in London. The service was friendly yet unobtrusive. It's a narrow venue upstairs. The choice is to sit at the counter and watch the chefs prepare the food or (as we did) sit facing the glass to watch the world outside. Given the seating upstairs, it really suits two people sat together sharing a handful of plates. We look forward to returning again in the not too distant future.

A little gem you don’t want to miss! If you love seafood, this is the place – the razor clams, scallops, and cottage flowers are my absolute favourites. Everything is fresh and full of flavour. The staff are super nice and helpful, which just makes the whole experience even better. Can’t wait to go back!

We were sitting at the bar and could watch the chef‘s cooking this absolutely delicious food. The sevillan Chef and his team are serving great special dishes which every single one is unique or in it‘s simplicity from very high quality.

Disappointing and rushed dining experience I had a dinner booking at Maresco yesterday, from 18:00 to 20:00. The food quality was only fair and not as authentic as Spanish tapas, with small portion sizes. However, the main issue was the service. Throughout our meal, the staff made us feel incredibly rushed. A staff member came to collect our plates while we were still eating, with several bites left on the dishes. After we explained that we were still enjoying our food and conversation, he returned about 15 minutes later to ask again. This made us feel pressured to finish quickly and ruined the relaxed atmosphere we were hoping for. The same pushy approach continued after our desserts. The staff member came to our table and asked us to pay, which I understood was because our two-hour booking slot was nearing its end. However, I was surprised by this unnecessary rush as I couldn't see any queue outside the restaurant, and it didn't seem particularly busy. The staff's behavior was rude and significantly detracted from our dining experience. I would not recommend this restaurant.
