Went for Lunch in early January 2026 at Margaret, Double Bay, with a party of three. They asked about dietary requirements/allergies on seating which a nice thoughtful touch. Staff were lovely and attentive (water glasses always refilled), though our waiter was hard to understand amid the noise, and we waited ~10 mins for EFTPOS after getting the bill.
Entrees shone: steak tartare, potato rosti, and buffalo mozzarella, all delicious. Sides with the steak (corn, mac and cheese, pumpkin) were highlights and perfectly executed. Desserts (banoffee pudding and peach tart) were outstanding, the real saving grace.
Presentation was 10/10 everywhere. But the 800g CopperTree wagyu ($320), part of the “second-best steak in the world” ranking, disappointed: gritty, sinewy, extremely chewy (only middle tender). Massively overpriced.
Vibe felt noisy (had to shout), no tablecloth on our table (unlike windows), waitstaff brushing past/kicking chair repeatedly was very distracting.
2.5/5. Great for entrees/sides/desserts if nearby, but the steak fell short of expectations. Won’t return soon.
