First time eating here got the chicken mole and it was amazing 👏 😋 😍 I'm not lying when I say it's been YEARS, since I had mole this good as I just moved to California 4 years ago and this is the first time I had mole at a restaurant. I was so happy. My best friend got fries and a cheeseburger which are also very yummy. The horchata is good too! Highly recommended, will return soon! 🤩

Man U get good Mexican food made in front of you plus winter beef soup called caldes de Rey’s. Incredible on a rainy night

This place is AMAZING! Please eat here! The two of us ate our fill for under $20. Bisteca Torta was fantastic, and the pancakes and bacon are amazing as well. The place was quiet and the staff was very welcoming. I would love to come back my next time in town!

Considering the area, it's not bad I think a bit pricey, $17 per menudo bowl. It was tasty, definitely 😋

I think they have the BEST soft tacos in the entire world. Just look at it right?! Employees are super nice and cool people and they have a nice little dining area.

I've been going to Margaritas for years they have good food I had 3 Birria tacos and scrambled eggs.

I had menudo & taco de camarones (shrimp taco). It's just average. I have had better and they didn't provide any oregano for the menudo. The shrimp taco was made with fried shrimp $2. It opens early & closes late, convenient for those live/work in dtla. Will try their birria next, since it seems to be their specialty. They take cash/visa/master.

The cashier is always very attentive. He offers me coffee and makes he knows my usual. I recommend this place bc it's always clean

Avoid at all cost! I ordered a chicken burrito, that included rice, beans, cilantro, and red sauce inside of it. I had to use the bathroom about 2-3 hours later, and it was not pleasant. The meat was old, and I'm sure the other ingredients were not any good, given that I was using the bathroom for two more days thereafter. The service was Ok, but if you care about your intestinal tract do not eat here.

My girlfriend and I have been regulars at Margarita's for almost two years because we've always loved their food. Unfortunately, the last few visits have been really disappointing. A few days ago, I ordered my usual chopped salad and bit down hard on what turned out to be the stem knob from an avocado that somehow made it into the salad. It hurt quite a bit and could have chipped my tooth. I called the restaurant right away just to let them know and hopefully get an apology or acknowledgment -- but instead, I was put on hold while the person took other orders and told me "mistakes happen." When I went in person to show them the piece, the staff were defensive instead of apologetic, saying they were busy and multitasking. I wasn't looking for a refund, just accountability and professionalism. To make things worse, the most recent salads we ordered were half full, and both of us ended up feeling unwell afterward. We've also noticed that portion sizes have gone down while prices have gone up (for example, the fries portion used to be much larger before). It's really disappointing because we genuinely liked this place and supported them regularly. But between the inedible avocado stem, the dismissive response, and the lack of care in recent orders, it's hard to justify spending money here anymore. I hope they take this feedback seriously -- loyal customers deserve to be treated with respect and consistency.

The food is always good! Never been to the brick and mortal place, but order from here a lot! The Menudo is quite tasty!!! And the mojarra is fried great! The service is fine, I've never had an order not come out the way I want. I don't know about the ambiance because I order from here all the time. Will I order from here again, of course!

I've had issues with this location before but not like today the manager was rude unprofessional and seemed bothered that I called to complain about my food being made wrong and missing items he offered to replace the burrito but with a rude attitude I ordered a wet carne asada burrito with avocado and got a burrito stuffed with sausage and no avocado I don't know if the cook did it on purpose or if it's because I've been ordering often but this sucks because they serve really good food and now I don't even want to order anymore due to me being scared they're gonna mes with my food I guess they don't really care of losing customers ‍

Burgers just come with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and a ton of Mayo. Don't recommend it's like making them at home but it's 1000 times worse. Fries were unseasoned and bland.

Ordered 2 servings of Caldo de Res, oh that was regrettable. The soup had no taste, the beef shank was super dry (overcooked), and it was tough (needed to hold piece to bite). The potato in the soup serving was undercooked. 2 lengua soft tacos weren't any better. Sad. We wanted to give a place a chance, and we learned. Stick to where you know. Not returning.

The Torta Cubana's are awesome! I always get mine with no tomato and no avocado but even with tomato they are good. The tacos are way better than I expected, the al pastor is definitely my favorite.

bomb chorizo breakfast burrito. love the hashbrowns in the burrito!! everyone does tots now, but the OG hashbrown wins !! also ordered a fresh carrot/orange/beet juice and it didn't miss at all. ordered via postmates - order arrived super fast and everything in tact, including the juice! definitely my new breakfast burrito spot

This place isn't fancy but it's DELICIOUS- I get the grilled fish burrito and the red sauce at least 2x a week! I love that they are open till 11:30. Don't mind the riff raff in the area and just give this spot a try! I have also tried their Caldo De Res soup and it was BOMB def will order again.

Very good Mexican Food in Downtown Los Angeles CA. When I go out to eat, I try to eat dishes I don't normally cook at home. The Double Chile Relleno plate is superb! You can order a Chile Relleno burrito with one also. As I visit in the future, I'll post more updates as an edit.

01JAN2020 RIP Homer Montes Garcia. I dropped into this 24 hours dive for midnight munchies on a Friday night. I asked the order taker/cashier/cook what's a popular item on the photo wall menu and he said the nachos. Guess what, no more discussion that's what I ordered. The nacho chips were fresh, the carne asada okay, I asked for chicken but....and the toppings were decent. There are many late night eateries in the area but few are open 24 hours, I might stop by in the future to try out something else.

This place's biggest asset is being open fairly late. I ordered Jamaica and birria (goat). The Jamaica was a bit sweeter than other Jamaica I've had but still had some good hibiscus flavor. However, there was a slightly off taste. The weird flavor went away as I kept drinking; I suppose my taste buds started to get acclimated. The birria is kind of neat in that this restaurant even has it. Sadly it's not very good. The dish comes with, among other things, salt packets. The salt is pretty badly needed. Overall it's just way underseasoned. After added some chili flakes, lime, and salt, the dish was reasonably tasty. Overall 2.5 stars. I might come back to try their menudo since local and late-night menudo is both convenient and tempting.

The food was less than mediocre, no effort in there preparation at all. The frijoles in the pious as were blended and coming out dripping from covering and cheese was missing on both chicharon and frijol pupusas. The tamal was literally made with no red salsa just pork meat tossed together. Disappointed!

I don't enjoy giving 1 star reviews because I know it can affect small business so I went with 2, should really be a 1 though. I was craving menudo so we got delivery from this place. We also ordered the pozole and some nachos. The menudo tripe had the most pungent odor, so it probably wasn't prepped correctly. Broth was a weird orange color. No oregano, no dried chili included, but that was ok we have some at home. I love menudo. I tried putting a lot of lime and chili, I microwaved multiple times, like 10 minutes. Nothing would kill that smell and taste. I tried it, I just couldn't do it, I tossed it away. I just hope the tripe was not prepped right and not that it actually went bad. Crossing fingers I don't have a sore stomach later. Nachos with stale chips, had to use our own, this wasn't do to a prolonged delivery time. The chips were just stale. The Pozole, was okay. We ended up sharing it. On a good note, they have Mexican Coca Cola.

Always good service and really good cooking. I love the pescado and asada tacos with extra cilantro and onion. There are so many dishes I want to try, but I always get the same thing I take it home and add eggs. Yummy O yeah- you can call in your order too.

Food was good, I was in a hurry and ordered to-go. It did the job, nothing special but I'm sure this place slaps at 2am! Will def go back if in the area but wont make my way out there, one of them if it's on the way places.

Everyone equates Los Angeles with the film industry. It is a major presence. This includes street closures caused by filming. The local bus stop was blocked and given my mobility limitations I couldn't walk to where I could catch a bus. Given an empty larder delivery was the best option. Felt a hankering for Mexican. I went a bit wild, ordering chips, a carnitas burrito AND chicken enchilada dinner. Chips were not oily or salty, just the way I like them. The burrito was oversized and while enjoyable felt as if it had a lot of filler instead of meat plus rather uninspired green sauce topping. Ah, but the enchiladas were tasty with tue perfect accompaniment of rice and beans. Henceforth I will skip the so-so burrito but certainly order the enchilada plate again. Yum!

Very disgusting. They handle food with bare hands. The dining room is filthy. The customer service sucks.

It's really convenient how they're open 24/7 here in the DTLA area. The workers work really hard. They're friendly to the homeless people and they accept EBT. They could use some renovation of the dining area. and redesigning of their menu so you can see the prices better. The food is okay. The sauces weren't spicy. They were just meant to add flavor. It's one of the few places in downtown where you can find food under $10 after tax.

I live downtown and I was so excited to get this food looked really really good. I did the pork chops and it absolutely did not match the picture and the pork chops are probably in the heating oven all day long. They were like beef jerky at that point I was so disappointed why would they send out food like that but they don't think we're not gonna notice we live in this community and we're trying to support this restaurant and this is the kind of junk we get her you kidding me I will never order from this piece of crap again

I've been ordering from this place for a few months now and I'm close to being OBSESSED!!! My favorite dish from here is the pollo asado! It's served with salad,avocado,some dressing & refried beans and a tortilla. YUM!! I love the tamales,wet burritos & enchilada plate as well. The nachos too!! So flavorful,affordable & great portions. TWO THUMBS UP!

The fish taco are some of my favorite around! Good prices and they don't skimp out on the amount of fish! Area can be a bit sketch but don't let that stop you from trying them tacos!

Mexican food (variety), indoor individual bar stools, great after drinking place to hit up during cold winters for a quick eat. Takes credit card!!! Not the cleanest place, and definitely in sketch area or with tons of sketch people around. BUT its cheap, and indoor seating without a wait.

I ordered food on MealPal and they refused to serve me. I had a mask. All these restaurants on Meal Pal never have the food ready on time and I'm always fine with waiting, no problem, however when I had to have a late lunch because of business of work then I go to Margarita's Place, show proof that I ordered the meal for today on the app and the whole staff refuses to give me the food that I ordered. I usually come back to order for the restaurants I like at MealPal outside of MealPal if the food is good, guess what this one, won't be it.

Out of towners here... and had food delivery from Uber eats. In the great PNW, we have found legit tacos. Crispy carnitas, great carne asada... tonight I had pork and the steak tacos, chips and salsa. My guy had a wet burrito, and tamales. Chips had an odd flavor, and not homemade as I had hoped. My guy said they were stale. Bummer. Steak was chewy, and bland. Pork was okay. Not crispy like I am used too. I ate them, but left the steak ones. Tamales were good, he especially liked the cheese one. Perhaps I should have been more mindful of the Yelp reviews, but thought I would take a gamble since they had menu items including pork stomach. Not many places have items like that, and in my experience those spots have been great. Not this one. Be mindful of the reviews should you visit here.

I wanted a carnitas burrito in ritzy downtown LA. The frist restaurant I stopped by looked good, but their tortillas were green, some kind of avocado infused novelty tortilla, and they did not stock normal flower tortillas like I wanted, so I bounced. I passed by Guisado's, however that establishment doesnt do burritos. Next I walked to Margarita's place. It has a small dining room, and a large kitchen. I ordered a carnitas burrito with rice, beans, and guacamole only. It was perfect. A normal burrito that tasted good and was ready fast. Pleasent restaurant.

I would say it's just ok, perhaps it's better when eaten fresh out of the kitchen, we had it delivered to a nearby hotel, no salsa was included so some of my items were very dry. The green Chile tamales were terribly dry, but my boyfriend enjoyed the chicken nachos (he would've enjoyed more with a salsa of salsa as well) They did make sure to include utensils, salt and pepper, so that was perfect!

I've had several foods from here: pupusas, tamales, fajitas de carne Asada, menudo, huevos a la mexica and they never disappoint.

disappointed ... the rice is very dry and old & the tamal is OLD!! It's rock hard on the corners... Did y'all really microwave some old food and sent it out?!? That's horrible what a bad representation of Mexican food please fix this...

THIS IS THE MOST DISGUSTING FOOD I EVER HAD IN MY LIFE !!!!!!!!! They fried my chicken in fish batter , My fries were cold and had no seasoning and my burrito was wet and the meat was dry ! Everything was Just disgusting i had to go to bed on a empty stomach . DONT EVER EAT HERE IF YOU ARE IN LA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would go in the trash can and get the food out and take a picture of it but I'm not bc that's where that S!!! belongs !!!!!

Me and my co worker ordered Caldo de res and Caldo de pollo. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, packaged so well and came nice and hot on and rainy day. The soup had lots of veggies and big meat chunks. Came with a bag filled of limes, onions and cilantro, then some tortillas. Definitely would recommend and re order ! Thank you for such amazing food. Love hugs kisses

I ordered through ubereats .. I want to be completely honest. The pupusas were not it. Im sorry. Maybe I'm just use to my abuelitas bomb pupusas but these .. we're super heavy & smelled funny. The revuelta was just pork and cheese. If you want Salvadoran food just find another spot. BUT!! The only reason why I give it a 3 is the birria taco I ordered. I wish I ordered more since I didn't eat my first choice. My partner got a carne asada burrito and taco. Also some fries. They were good. So try anything but the pupusas

First and foremost, THANK YOU to the staff at Margarita's place. I had a large order for work and I went the day before to order, they were so helpful and made sure they had all the details of my order. I needed the order to be ready at 5:30am, I arrived at 5:40am and everything was packed and ready to go. One of the gentlemen even helped me take everything to my car. I ordered a total of 123 pupusas, different flavors and I needed it split in two orders. I was very impressed with how they packaged everything, very neat, easy to transport and label. They gave me enough curtido (pickled cabbage) and salsa for my entire order. They offered plates, napkins and utensils, I passed on those but I appreciate the offer. The taste of everything was authentic Salvadorean. The beans and cheese were very flavorful. I didn't taste the ones with pork (they were gone by the time I ate) but they were obviously delicious. The curtido was yummy, but the salsa...the salsa was AMAZING! Very tomato rich and had a little bit of a spicy kick. The only thing that takes away from this place is the lack of parking, but it's totally worth walking a few blocks for it. Also, it's in an area where there's a lot of homelessness, so you may be asked for some change on your way in. That doesn't bother me so I'll be going there again. Actually, gonna place an order for delivery right now, writing this review made me crave it again. Buen Provecho!

I was in downtown, you know, doin ma thing... And my parking meter was running($6/hr!!! Are they freaking insane???? What do they think it is, bel air???)... I needed a place to eat lunch before my afternoon headache hits. The problem is that there are places to eat but they have "cash only" (freakin sucks!!). So I found 'margaritas place'. I went in, and I don't know if they were even talking to me. There was a guy that finally spoke English to me and got my order. I ordered a carne asada burrito and a glass bottle Pepsi - I always see Coke but never Pepsi!! I couldn't help myself!! The carne Asada burrito and bottle of Pepsi cost me $9! Really $9??!!! Between the cost of parking and the cost of food I coulda sworn I was in Beverly Hills (but with a bunch of homeless ppl around me...?). I waited and waited and waited patiently for the burrito.. Then I went to the counter and saw the guy looked at me surprised!! I was like aww heck no!! My meter is running and they forgot about my food!! They made my food literally within minutes and apologized to me. The burrito was good. I can't say much about it cause I had to swallow it due to the time that I had. It was a good tasting burrito. They were nice enough to bring salsa and napkins to me as well. I don't know what to think of this place. The food is pretty good... The service was not good. I kinda wonder how a place like this stays in business... Would I recommend it... Not likely, no... I kinda wish I carried cash (which I ever do) to go somewhere else. Why 3 stars rather than 1 or 2? I don't know.... Sympathizing for a family to run a business...? Lol

Very much hit or miss when ordering. I've ordered here twice. The first time the chicken soup was AMAZING! So flavorful, great portions. The 2nd time I order the same soup, it was so bland. Literally water and chicken with 1 of each vegetable. Complete disappointment.

You get what you want and need for a good price. Then you bail out and go eat it somewhere else if you know what's good for you. Gets sketchy late at night so if you can help it, go early. I like the asada burritos and chicken tamales particularly. Breakfast burritos are also pretty good.

I'm so sorry to have to write a review like this but the pupusas tasted horribly burnt and odd flavored. Please figure that out and the horchata is watered down

This is the second time my family and I had visited this place. So far this has been the best restaurant my family and I like to go when we come to Los Angeles. The food was very tasty and great! Our waiter was very nice and friendly. He was on top of everything!

Ask for the burrito called "the Jackson". Yes, it's named after yours truly! It's a breakfast style burrito that will satisfy every hungry fiber in your being! The burrito consists of crispy hash browns, chopped up burger meat, cheddar cheese folded into scrambled eggs. Top it off with some onions and cilantro and you've got yourself a mouthwatering burrito that I think is way better than a carne asada burrito from Roberto's or Lolita's in SD. My friend got the Ricas Pupusas, but it wasn't fresh so I'm assuming it didn't taste all too great. This is probably why they don't get the full five stars. The sauce accompanying it was good though. Another friend did get the bacon cheeseburger, and wow, that was pretty good! So, if it's late night and you're in downtown LA, stop by this hole in the wall restaurant. Beware, it's not exactly the cleanest place, but trust me when I say that if you're hungry, this spot will get the job done to squash that hunger. The workers are engaging with their customers and the food isn't that bad either.

I came here because of MealPal lunch of chicken enchiladas, and it was the best tasting fresh green enchilada sauce I have had in a long, long time. I often judge a Mexican restaurant by its sauce or salsa, so this one is tops for me. Being the only gringa in the lunch crowd I considered a good sign, too. No frills decor, so come when you simply want great, hearty Mexican food fast.

Good spot. Decent food and reasonable prices. Coworker and I have tried it a few times for takeout. Not in the best part of downtown but sometimes you have to hit those holes in the wall to get a good tasting taco or torta.

Ugh. I ordered the rolled tacos / taquitos today, as I've done many times, but they were completely inedible. The "chicken" was pure fat and nastiness. Super bummed I spent $14 and only got to eat a couple bites of rice and a soda I only ordered to avoid the "small order fee".
