Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville Resort Lake Tahoe Opens in South Lake - Eater SF

"Parrot Heads looking for a winter space to roost will likely want to flock to the just-opened Margaritaville Resort Lake Tahoe. The new resort has rooms to accommodate travelers, but more importantly, there are five dining establishments on the property, including the License to Chill Bar, LandShark Bar & Grill, Joe Merchant’s Coffee & Provisions, Come Monday Café, and JWB Prime Steak and Seafood. Apres-ski has never been so tropical, nor so perfect for unwindulaxing in paradise." - Lauren Saria

Rooms were updated and beautiful. However, housecleaning is a little slow. We had to wait for our rooms over an hour, but the front desk gave us a restaurant voucher out of courtesy, which was nice. The only thing I would recommend is to have movies to rent or buy, as the TV channels were limited and outdated with old shows. But other than that, loved this hotel...perfect spot for a shuttle bus for Emerald Bay Cruise and casino.

There is a lot of negativity in some reviews for what myself & my daughter experienced. I am particular- so this is coming from this view. We were part of a large group that was at the resort for a 3 night stay. The front desk was nothing but courteous as was any other staff we encountered. The rooms were spacious- I don’t know any hotel that I would expect the walls to be soundproof. The pillows & beds were comfortable. The door key worked every time like it should. The pool area was clean. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast buffet every morning that was delicious & well staffed which greeted us with a smile. I give the housekeeping a 4 - the rooms could be detailed better- but nothing we had to call the front desk about. This hotel is located in an excellent location. There is significant delays due to road construction in this area right now- took us a hour to travel under 2 miles returning from an excursion.

Enjoyed staying here for 4 days. The rooms are clean and spacious. The lobby is spacious and comfortable, with glass elevators and beautiful water ponds with plants and TURTLES! Kid and pet friendly. Especially appreciated the friendly staff. Special shout out to Nicole and Andrea at Joe’s Merchant and Coffee for great service, helpful site seeing tips, and welcoming smiles.

Google
Love the location, central to the summer concerts but not a smelly casino! Paid for early check in and barely got the room before 1pm. All food options were great. Pool area isn’t the greatest. Wish they had an outdoor pool. The pool seemed a little green and quite a bit of sand in the bottom first thing in the morning. Housekeeping came very late in the day. We were in the room when they came by and they left towels but didn’t offer to tidy up.

Mixed experience staying here Pros- Nice clean big rooms. Great location- walkable to many local spots. Most staff were helpful/fine. Cons- High resort fee for not really a resort (50/day). High valet cost (40/day)- but they were fast in our experience. Lady who checked us in was pretty rude- but everyone else at the hotel was great.

We had a wonderful stay at Margaritaville Resort Lake Tahoe! Our suite was clean and very well-maintained, which made for a comfortable and relaxing experience. The location is perfect — within walking distance to the Heavenly Gondola ride, restaurants and shops. It was very easy to get around. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly, helpful, and welcoming. ||The amenities really made our stay special — the terrace and pool were clean and inviting, and we loved relaxing by the fire pit in front of the hotel in the evenings. We went the weekend of the 4th of July and we were able to watch the fireworks show from the hotel. There was also a DJ and live music, which we thoroughly enjoyed! The cocktails at the hotel bar were delicious. ||Overall, a fantastic experience — I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again!

Google
Excellent room and a chic hotel! I liked it very much. Everything is top notch. I am not thrilled with the service because they add something to the check everywhere. The room is 220 dollars per night but they will take another 50 dollars from you for registration, but plus taxes and fees, the total will be 350 per night. Breakfast is 20 dollars plus 9 service but you will only find out about this if you check the check. Parking is 40 dollars, the most expensive in the area. I parked in a neighboring hotel for 20 dollars.

Hotel staff is not friendly. For the price I paid there are better alternatives. I do not feel valued at all. Not coming back. There is no focus on customer or getting repeat business. I would go with any name brands next time like next door Marriott for more value for my dollar.

Yelp
While up in South Lake Tahoe for a weekend getaway, we needed a place to stay that was conveniently located and frankly, booked at the last minute. We decided on Margaritaville and reserved two rooms, one for my dad and one for my husband and I. The location could not be beat as we were planning to walk to the Tahoe blue event center. The rooms themselves were surprisingly spacious and kept in the traditional Margaritaville theme decor. The bed was comfy and the bathroom had a large vanity and sink. The biggest disappointment really was the breakfast buffet which was included in the price of our room. It felt like nothing more than the continental breakfast you might find at a Holiday Inn express. For $30 per person, it was pretty steep given the offerings. All in all, if you're looking for a centrally located place to stay while visiting South Lake Tahoe, Margaritaville is not a bad choice.

Yelp
Avoid if possible. There are TONS of better hotels in the area. I highly recommend researching those before booking here. 1) Customer service is dismal. From the moment we drove up, checked in, went to bar in middle of hotel to the moment we checked out....everyone looks miserable to work there. 2) valet and concierge is so disorganized! No one could find pur luggage, didnt recieve UNTIL 3 HOuRS after checking in. Only after my Husband had to go downstairs to see what's happening after multiple phone calls. $40/nite for valet? For what?? I dont blame the poor kids working the valet,it's not their fault there is no structure and direction or any sort of urgency to getting cars parked or retrieved. Its a joke. 3) The pool. Its disproportionately small to the amount of guests that location can accommodate. Its literally cloudy snd yellow. No amount of chlorine (and there was a LOT i tell u) could kill whatever bacteria was growing in that pool. The hot tub was even worse. 4) the room was super cute. Clean. Well kept, clearly the paint job from a few years back has made the in room experience tolerable. 5) the only reason I give 2 stars is due to location, cant beat being in the center of the fun. And the lovely host at the breakfast buffet. He was kind, as was rhe hostess at the restaurant downstairs land shark. Rest of staff also seemed like they weren't happy to be there I do have to say the bartender in middle of hotel (I cant remember his name but he was from a small town nearby) made amazing Palomas. I *might* come back for that reason.

Yelp
I would not stay here if you can avoid it. Terrible customer service and cancellation policy. The room was $270, I requested to cancel nearly 1 month in advance due to my husband going out of state on an emergency work call for the foreseeable future (working in a burned area to restore power). The fee to cancel nearly 1 month in advance is about $206 (practically the price of the room). I booked third party and have never had a problem with this booking service in 10 years. I was told I booked non-refundable which, if true, was my fault for being unaware. However, again, I have never had a problem with anywhere else. I have booked and I used this site multiple times a year. Even if I did book non-refundable, the third party site stated the hotel can make the call to provide a full refund and most often do. I was very surprised when the request was denied as I am providing plenty of advance notice and rebooking for them will not be an issue. There is a big event that weekend and the hotel appears to be sold out, they can easily rebook. Due to booking third party, even though the hotel has a 72-hour full refund cancellation window, they are still charging the $206. I would understand a bit more if the fee was smaller, but nearly the price of the $260 is quite insane. Good for them finding a way to double dip and hurt their customers.

Yelp
Customer Service - 90% of the staff is unfriendly and unhelpful or just isn't around. There were 2 nice valet/bell desk gentlemen and 1 helpful front desk night manager. Communication - non existent. I reserved seven rooms and called ahead and added each guest name to the rooms so they could check in since I knew I could be late for check-in since I was traveling with my son. The person on the phone was very nice and said sure no problem. I spelled out each guest name for her, and she said it was taken care of. Yet when the first guest tried checking in they couldn't. The hotel did call and verify over the phone with me and allowed her to check in, 15 mins later my daughter tries to check in. They will not allow her to check in until I arrive. She is an adult and has to wait another 20 minutes later for me to arrive. I then again add everyone's name to the register. I said I called prior and took care of this. She said I don't have it on record. Nothing's on file. I asked about the member perks and she said yes I see them just go ahead and let the servers know what appetizers or discounts you want to use and your room # and they will charge it to your room as your perk since you've already pre selected it for each room. Later that night I tried to do that, the servers were like nope we need you to login and and show us. I did not have my phone on me as my son was playing with it in the room and I could not go and take it from him at that moment. I stated what the front desk told me but they said no. So I ended up having to pay for that appetizer, which I would not have ordered if I was going to have to pay for it. Next time I try using a perk again and the internet connection was so bad I had to leave the restaurant and walk to the lobby to get connected and come back to be able utilize it. I extended all our reservations for an extra day a week prior to check in and called to ensure that that new reservation could be associated with our current reservation so that no one would have to check out and have to check in again. I gave all the guest names and reservations and they said It's taken care of. Come the fourth day everyone's key card stops working. My daughter calls me and tells me that the front desk needs to see me in person to get everyone's key cards re-keyed. I ask if they can just verify me over the phone as I am in my room and they've already seen me in person checking in with my ID and credit card and it's very difficult to come down at the moment with my son who is on the spectrum. My husband then goes down with my ID and credit card and tries to explain the situation to the manager about me not being able to come down since my son is unwilling at the moment and will not let me leave without him. She still refuses and all my guests wait an additional 15 minutes in the lobby before we are able to go down to the front desk. When I get down there, the manager has gone to break I am told and unable to speak with her, another person assist us and is able to key everyone's card after a another 20 minutes of explanation and no notes apparently of my previous call again. Why did they need me to come down again in the first place since everybody had checked in with their own IDs and credit cards on the first night. The difficulty redeeming perks continues. Making sure they would still be valid as it shows them being expired on the earlier checkout date not the extended date. I called and spoke to the front desk. They say yes, it should be good and if not, I can always call back. The perks do fall off my account a whole day earlier than my checkout date. I called down numerous times nobody answered. I had to finally sneak down to the front desk when my son was napping and the night manager did assist me with a small food voucher after I recapped the whole perks debacle. Cleanliness - there was hair in the tub and on the shower wall when we checked in and I had to call housekeeping to come clean it out. Some black Stain & tear in bed sheets. Chewed up food and dead insects in the pool with no employee around to ask for assistance to clean the pool so the kids couldn't even go in at the first night. Some kind of weird film on top of the water on the next day so again no pool. Fees - excessive $50 resort fee for dirty small pool & spa. Tiny fitness room and no spa services. The casino resorts across the street don't even charge that much. They charge $30 and they have an actual spa. The bar hours were inconsistent with what was listed on the website. Twice we tried to go get drinks and they were closed earlier than the hours listed. The overall food at the breakfast buffet, the coffee shop and the landshark bar & grill were all barely average at best and not worth the prices. Such a disappointing experience at this hotel.

Yelp
First time in Tahoe attending an event. This resort offers many amenities and the staff were pleasant and accommodating. Food was very good and the rooms were adequate.

Yelp
First time in Lake Tahoe area, this place is really big, rooms are spacious, bathroom is very clean, our view from our room are the gondola and snow capped mountains. It's valet parking only,it's nice sometimes but we drive a lot around the area so i find it kinda hassle waiting for our car. This hotel is in between Harrah's and Marriot and across the street is WOLF restaurant.shopping area all around and Target is walking distance,so many restaurants and onsite ,we like the heated pool . Beach is walking distance but you have to pay $30 for entrance,we ended up driving to stateline and paid $14 for parking just to go to beach.Overall, for first timers like us,this place is a good one to stay in.

Yelp
I spent 3 nights here. Upon arrival the resort was pretty huge. Valet was very helpful and didn't hesitate to assist with anything we needed. Appreciated them simply holding the door open while we brought in our bags. There are several spots to grab food. I enjoyed take out at the Landshark. Bone-in buffalo wings were my go to! I also recommend grabbing your salad from Joe Merchant's Coffee & Provisions. Just make sure you grab a fork on your way out! Breakfast buffet was 10/10 and the service was top tier. It was $19.99 per person, all you can eat but no to-go plates. As mentioned the resort is huge. The hotel is warmer than most. I get it, it's still winter, and people are hitting the slopes. The hotel has both elevator and stair services. I used the gym but didn't get to the pool which was in fact heated. I touched it lol. The room itself was very spacious but with the elevation and A/C on I did get pretty congested by the end of day 1. I wasn't sure if it was me , the filters or elevation but this did impact my trip. Day 2 I hardly went out due to being so congested. The hotel is walking distance to all your local shopping areas, restaurants, Heavenly and even the new Target location opening in April. I spent day 1 walking around and checking out several small businesses etc. I would recommend this hotel and would love to visit again soon. Thank you Margaritaville!

Yelp
My Husband and i went there today to celebrate a big wedding anniversary. We were able to our drinks which took at least 1/2 an hour and then lunch which we waited another 30 minutes to have our order taken for lunch. Monday August 4th. The Poke was mediocre and my dates burger had obviously sat under a heat lamp for quite sometime. We spent $120.00 including tip plus 35 dollars to park for this very disappointing anniversary lunch. Lake Tahoe California has become a real bummer! So Sad! Choose another destination!

Yelp
The staff at this location is lacking. The building looks like it's been recently renovated but the staff is dragging it down. For example, my husband and I arrived at 3:15 pm. He went to the front desk to check in and I went to valet to take care of the car. While talking with valet, I was told I needed to be checked in before I could valet the car. However, there are hourly prices written on a sign. Why would I park my car for an hour if I'm staying the night here? Anyway, went to the husband to see if he got a room number, to be told we can't check in until 4. I explained that we can't valet until we get a room number and asked what we could do. The lady at the front desk told me to go park next door at the casino. I also found used floss in the shower, a used makeup brush, lube on the night stand and hair on the walls. I would not stay here again.

Yelp
My main concern when staying at a hotel is sleep. I slept 5/5. I attribute this to my high floor and respectful neighbors as well, and hopefully some hotel sound proofing? My hotel room was also at the end of the hotel away from the lobby which probably also helped to to be quieter. Loved the big living area, table, small wet bar, and nice bathroom. Robes. Two TVs. Comfortable king bed. Heater worked. A couple things that made it about a 4.2 stay instead of 5 stars. Valet area was a bit chaotic with lots of workers and people but check in was easy, albeit not overly friendly but adequate. Lobby Chill Bar kind of small but cute and on theme. The pool area has way more potential. It is humid which I didn't mind except that the tile or flooring whatever it is they used is horrible for an indoor pool area. It stayed wet and was slippery and most importantly, unclean and gross with random clumps of hair and what seemed like dirty water. I should note there was a worker picking up lone towels on chairs which was nice but I would like to see some more cleaning of the actual flooring. The hot tub and pool themselves were nice, but we didn't spend too much time there as it was a short one night stay. I do love they have a no kids after 10 pm rule but then again nobody is really ensuring that. Joe Merchans Coffee and provisions was good for a to go breakfast. I loved my oat milk hot chocolate and had a bite of husbands breakfast burrito as I'm gluten sensitive but my bite was pretty decent with eggs, potatoes, and bacon. With the mid reviews I see here, I would definitely come back here to see if I get the same experience as I had this time which I am hopeful for because I have stayed at many places in Lake Tahoe to include boutique motels and the large casinos, and this was probably my best overall experience.

Yelp
Great place stayed here for work. Vibrant colors the room was great two large tvs a comfy couch cold AC warm showers renovated looks amazing. The pool and tub were my favorites. The indoor pool is heated. Guest services is very attentive and ensuring you are being taken care of. Quick to bring extra coffee and clean your room if needed. Highly recommend this place.

Yelp
This hotel is a solid cheesy 4 star hotel but there isn't anything wrong with that. I booked a room for the night because I had tickets for a show in Tahoe and instead of driving home late, I decided to make it mini weekend getaway. I chose Margaritaville because it was very inexpensive and I like margaritas. The margaritas at the hotel bar did not disappoint! Jimmy Buffett would have been proud of the house margaritas. The rooms themselves are very large and have recently been updated. Overall, the rooms were nice for this type of hotel. Inside the hotel, still is a bit outdated but not terrible. Everything was very clean and the front desk staff were really nice and friendly. The hotel also is dog friendly.

Yelp
What a great Vibe! If you are craving Key West and can't get there-come to Margaritaville in SLT. We were here one night for a concert. The hotel staff is awesome, drinks given while checking in, made sure you know where everything is located and overall laid back.

Yelp
First time staying here, I really enjoyed this property. It was previously an Embassy Suties, which I was not aware of. So each room is a suite. Again, something I was not aware of, or didn't quite pay attention to when I booked the room. Check in was a breeze, they only do valet parking, and it does cost $35. We got to the room, and I was shocked how big it was. Super comfy couch, with a tv in the living room, a large table with 4 chairs, a bar sink with a fridge and microwave. Decent size bathroom and a door to the bedroom. Bedroom also had a tv. This was a lovely room fun decorations. We did have a drink at the main bar downstairs, the staff was amazing, super kind. They have an indoor pool, and a ton of activites. Yoga by the pool, and movie nights (kid movies) We didn't attend either of these acitivites, but cool that they are offered. We will for sure stay here again.

Elina J.

Yelp
Check in time was at 4pm, came on time and had to wait an hour because our room was not ready. They changed our room and only then we were able to get in our room. For this they gave us $50 for drinks and took off resort fee. Overall room is not bad. Water pressure is very weak. Valet is too chaotic with boys running all around. Very overstimulating. When we got into our car there was gum spitted out inside the driver car door. Wifi is also on the slow side.

Yelp
I booked a stay with Expedia and paid in full. After our stay, this hotel fraudulently charged my credit card the full price of my stay. I have contacted this hotel several times, and they will do nothing to rectify these false charges

Yelp
Tiffany is AMAZING! I'm so thankful there are amazing people like Tiffany to talk to in the service industry, instead of AI robots! I originally booked with Booking.com. Then, a series of unfortunate events happened and Booking.com was a literal nightmare to deal with! I got disconnected 2x after waiting 20+ minutes to speak to a person beyond the AI assistance. After a 3rd attempt, I spoke to a man at Booking.com who basically said I needed to contact the hotel directly! I wasted more than an hour trying to contact Booking.com! I then called the hotel and Tiffany was so understanding and helpful. I will finally be visiting this lovely hotel and it would have been possible without Tiffany and her fabulous team to help me through the Booking.com nightmare! Thank you Tiffany and Margaritaville Resort! I am so looking forward to stay there this weekend! You are incredible! p.s. this hotel is in a fantastic spot near stateline, the staff is amazing and the hotel property is wonderful! Stayed here a few years ago for a Kenny Chesney concert, and am so excited to see the new changes!

Yelp
When I heard they were opening a Margaritaville in Tahoe, I laughed and thought it would be a super cheezy hotel. But I'm happy to say my recent stay proved me wrong! From arrival to check-out, it was a wonderful stay. I did say during the week and it wasn't terribly busy so perhaps the experience would be different for those staying on the weekend or holiday when staff is stressed or rushed. I'll break it down: Arrival: I knew before coming that it was valet only. Super friendly valet team helped unload the luggage to a trolly to bring to the room. Check-in team member was very welcoming. I booked the room with early check-in window and I greatly appreciate this option! I feel that the parking fee is very steep given that you should tip them every time they bring your car to you, so parking cost alone can add up! Would like to have an online check-in option where you can use your phone to access the room and avoid having to go through the front desk. Room: Had a larger room on the 9th floor. Room was spacious, clean, and had a view of the mountains and lake. Really loved the layout and how tastefully it was decorated. TV's were huge (one TV in each room). I appreciated having a sitting area separate from the sleeping space. I felt that the beds were not very comfortable and could use improvement. Would like to see more counter space in the bathroom and I found the sink basin and faucet combo was a little awkward to use. Dining: Dined at Land Shark Bar and Grill a couple of times. Excellent service, very friendly staff. I appreciate their creative cocktail menu and outdoor seating. The food itself was just ok. Would like to see more healthier/vegetarian options. My side salad had a hair in it and they removed the charge for it. Come Monday buffet breakfast was very good. Incredibly friendly staff. Lots of food diversity (healthy to indulgent) and I felt it was a good value for the money. Joe Merchant's Coffee & Provisions has a great menu and kind staff. Pastries were fresh and tasty. Lots of different things to choose from if you need to grab and go. Huge blind spot by not offering breakfast room service! Ambiance: Overall very nicely decorated and they put a lot of thought into the design. The koi pond is beautiful and you can tell that the fish and turtles are healthy and well cared for. The main lobby is open and airy. The bar inside near the front desk is a nice touch. Glass elevators are fun to ride. Arrived for National Dog Day party with live music, doggie goody bags, dog toys on the grass, and water bowls - very cool and thoughtful event and they need to continue to do fun things like this as it was very much appreciated and enjoyed. Location: This hotel is conveniently located between the casinos and Heavenly shops, and just a short walk to the lake. Easy to get in and out via car or by foot. Because I was able to walk nearly everywhere I wanted to go, I didn't need the car as much (saves on having to tip valet). Overall this is a great place to stay and I'll likely return for my next SLT visit. If they can fine-tune a few things I think it would take the stay to the next level.

Yelp
I will never recommend that anyone stay at the Margaritaville Lake Tahoe Resort. Below are the following reasons: 1. Our fridge was broken. Thankfully, engineering came to replace it, but not before our food almost spoiled. 2. The market/cafe is WEAK. I have four kids, all of whom had come down with a recent flu/cold bug at various stages. I went downstairs to the market/cafe to see if there was any medication to avoid going out in the 18-degree weather, but there was not. Also, the market/cafe is very poorly stocked. There are really only a few brands of candy and although we also needed water, you can only get the Margaritaville branded water. The branded water does not even have a bar code so you can't check out at the self-checkout, but must go to the cashier. 2. At the Landshark restaurant, the wait staff was slow and inattentive. Waited about 30-40 minutes for food. The table next to us got served first despite us having a smaller party and coming in ahead of time. I accidentally spilled my drink and I had to hunt down an employee who handed us napkins for us to clean ourselves. Our server never came back until about 20 minutes afterward. Our food was cold. I still left an 18% tip. 3. The fees are out of control. Not only is there the room charge, but also there is a 14% occupancy tax, a California Tourism Fee, a Tourism Business Improvement District Tax, a resort fee, a "resort fee tax," and a valet parking charge. This excludes a tip you give to your valets as well. NONE of these are explained when booking, but only once you get there. Each fee is multiplied by each of the nights we stayed. PLUS THERE IS A $299 HOLD on a credit card. PLUS the front desk said they do not take debit cards, but only credit cards for the hold that are released 5 to 7 business days after checking out. So thank God my wife had one on her after our 8.5-hour trip. The failure to explain these fees in advance is just bad business and potentially an unfair business practice. 4. The elevators are slow and two were broken. There are only four elevators in total. It's 8 floors so an elevator is necessary, but the wait times were ridiculous. 5. Valet is REQUIRED to park at the hotel. This is also not explained in advance. The valet procedures are also outdated. The valet service gives you a physical ticket instead of an electronic one. I mistakenly misplaced my ticket which could have been avoided by a simple app or site that could be scanned. I didn't even get an email about my vehicle. 6. The valet staff in general is not nice. After I mistakenly misplaced my ticket, the valet that I spoke with seemed very bothered by this fact. He asked if I took a photo of the ticket which makes absolutely no sense why I would do that. On my 2nd day, I waited about 10 minutes for someone to get my vehicle but had to leave it in the valet area for someone to eventually come. 7. The hotel was supposedly "upgraded," but it's just not the case. If you get a suite, even a premium suite, there isn't even a sofa bed. It's two "queen" beds that feel like full beds. The space between the wall and the bed is really small so you can't stand in between the bed and the wall. 8. There are no screens on the windows. We were on the fifth floor and one of our kids opened the window and we found out there was just no screen. So, if you don't like bugs, if you have children, or if you want to just stay safe, you can't open the window. 9. The windows also have no locks. 10. As far as in-room entertainment, you can't rent movies. You just get a cable package that you can watch with no live channels as if it is 1997. 11. There are a lot of conferences that the hotel hosts. Unlike a lot of other hotels, the conference rooms aren't in a separate area they hang out in the lobby a lot and when we left, one of them was having live music in the lobby and everybody was taking up the seats. My experience at this hotel was less than zero and I would never recommend anyone stay there. I attached the bill so you can see exactly what all these fees are. I was completely disappointed by my stay and I have to suggest others find another place to stay while in SLT.

Yelp
1. The hotel is so hot in the lobby area it's ridiculous. 2. We couldn't check in until 1 hour after check in at 4. 3. No wash cloths to wash your face 4. Room service starts at 11:30 check out time is 11:00 5. Beds were horrible and you can only get out on one side because the beds are against the wall on one side. We had a handicap room on request. Bathroom was large but no hooks no shelves. It was pretty clean. We had a nice sitting area separate from the beds. The couch is not a pull out. Parking is VALET ONLY $35 a day. Restaurants close at 10pm. Honestly not worth the cost. Pass on this one.

Yelp
Stopped by for HH we shared the coconut shrimp and loaded long necks. My only would change if I could is there billing system it seems a manager has to make changes to the bill to include the special or HH pricing. This step ties up the staff and adds a very hectic atmosphere to our otherwise enjoyable moment.

Yelp
My husband had his holiday party at this new Resort it had literally opened that day . I I believe it used to a Embassy suites Hotel in the past. It definitely looks like it used to be one. It's amazing how they transform this hotel into a totally different vibe and theme . They have a big open concept in the middle when you walk in . It has a big sandal and everything is decorated Margaritaville theme. The theme colors are aqua and white. They have a big water fall and a nice bar in the middle called Chill Bar . Very nice! It has a fireplace with a lot of seatings to hang out. We went into the event room. That is where my husband's holiday party was at. It was a pretty big room with a dance floor in the middle of it . This space is great for private events. Everyone was super friendly and attentive starting with parking the car in the front to the bartenders and the servers at the private event. I had the pleasure to meet Shane. He was working at Chill Bar that night he is the best !! He went above and beyond with his service I was asking for a certain cocktail and he made it happen . Thanks Shane !! Overall this New resort looks like it will be a great addition for this area . This location is perfect with it being walking distance to all the shopping centers and restaurants. Loving the decor theme .We had an amazing night. Thanks to the Margaritaville Team!!!

Yelp
Guys~~honestly I really was cautious when I arrived because of al of the negative reviews. My husband booked this resort because he said the google reviews were good. I was worried, to say the least, because we were staying for 5 days! 1st off I think there is resort fee everywhere you go these days BUT the nightly rates are so affordable 2nd We have a very nice car...so I was very worried about valet scratching or hitting something because of a review I read but they were very courteous and I found no scratches on our car. Valet fee is also normal for resorts! 3rd We asked about microwaves because traveling with kids and especially for a week...we need can't eat out every meal. They said if we get microwave to the room it's 25$ a day but there are 2 community microwaves on 2nd floor^^ We got a room on the 2nd floor~~~ Rooms were very big and clean Actual 2 queens size beds in room. Dining table and large sofa and chair in living area. 2 T.Vs and mini refrigerator! Pool was very clean... Gym was little but had everything... I was very satisfied Will kindly recommend Also there are washer/dryers on the 9th floor and it was free Forgot to take pix and only random pix children took sorryyy

Yelp
Stayed here for 3 nights and overall, it was a good experience. Valet is NOT optional. We were the exception as we drove our Tesla and we forgot to bring our key card so they couldn't park it. We were directed to parking lot which is actually $5 cheaper/per night. They should make it optional since the parking lot is not even far, and the valet experience was messy. I'll talk about an incident in my review later. Stepping into the resort, the décor was not what I expected. The snow mountains of Lake Tahoe meet tropical vibes with fake palm trees. I felt like I was in Costa Rica. I love it. Check in-process was pretty smooth. I booked on Booking.com and was told I would need to pay $135 upon check-in. However, they charged me $350. What did they do with my money??? We wanted our room next to our friends and the front desk staff was able to accommodate that with a room literally next room over. The room is nice and spacious, with two TVs, a coffee machine, and bathrobes! The moisturizer bottle was not filled when we arrived. :( This is a need, especially in the cold dry climate. So.. with valet. Our friends had checked their car with valet. When we wanted to go out for dinner and requested the car, they could not find the keys. They knew where the car was, but the keys magically disappeared. Unacceptable. We spent 35 minutes waiting and had to ask them multiple times the status since it didn't seem like it was important for them to find where it keys were. Misc: Swimming pool room is really stuffy and people were blowing bubbles in the hot tub??? They had a bar on the 1st floor and we ordered an expresso martini. We got it in an ugly plastic cup when I could clearly see martini glasses. Affordable and fun place to stay. Resort is dog friendly.

Yelp
Nice place with good parking and prices. Super close to the casino and don't have to worry about the cigarette smoke. Great breakfast and nice restaurants and shops inside.

Yelp
Landshark restaurant was horrible!!! The waiter Hugh was the worst, attitude, slow and downright RUDE. Super slow, didn't check after food brought, at all! Food was not hot and it was tasteless! Never going back! And that waiter should not be waiting tables!

Yelp
This is a poorly remodeled embassy suites. Over charging, poorly servicing dump. $70 per day in resort fees but can't tell you what you get. It's not a resort. It's an old embassy suites. $35 in parking on top of it.

Yelp
rip off $45 per night resort fee and 29 per day for parking plus they were going to charge me for a microwave Disappointment by the expensive of staying there in-door pool instead of out door No bathtub though the bathroom was nice No microwave was a bummer especially since the restaurants were super expensive $29 dollars each for breakfast everyone expected to get tipped Close to casinos so I could walk there which was great

Yelp
Margaritaville was a fun and family-friendly place to stay! The resort was clean, well-maintained, and had a cute, tropical vibe that made for a great getaway. The amenities were nice, and it's definitely a great spot for families with kids. However, the walls are extremely thin, so noise travels easily. We could hear kids running up and down the halls and in the room next door which made it a bit difficult to relax at times. Overall, a good experience, but if you're a light sleeper, you might want to bring earplugs! Points for the lobby bar with all the comfy chairs to lounge in.

Yelp
I stayed here beginning of April for my birthday weekend for two nights. This is a refurbished embassy suites from when I'm told and is right next-door to Harrahs and a lot of the shops, so very convenient location. When we arrived, they were having a bunch of cheerleaders & their family's there and then the day we there was a boat convention. coffee shop inside the hotel was OK very busy on Monday. The room had a separate living area and bedroom, which is nice but there are alot of hidden cost at this hotel starting with the $29 valet parking per day, Tourist fee, a hold on your credit card and the list goes on. The room was clean and nice enough. There are four elevators at this hotel, but two of them were broken during our stay which made for a long waits. We did take advantage of the buffet breakfast on our last morning which is $29 a person but the food was good. This hotel also has an indoor pool, but there were several people in the pool so we did not take advantage but it looked nice. The lobby area has a bar which does seem pretty busy most of the time we were there. I usually stay at the grand residence Marriott hotel, and I have to say I prefer this hotel. I think this hotel has a nice vibe but all the hidden fees and the inside was just OK for me, This will probably be my first/last stay here. This also a pet friendly hotel so I did see several dogs, which is nice for anyone who wants to bring their pet along.

Yelp
We were flooded out of our room at 0430 our first night. I slipped and fell on the wet vinyl floor. My wife had an inspection panel fall off and injure her leg while we moved out to another room. The management couldn't care less about the incident and told me if I needed medical attention when I got home to call them. The remaining 4 nights the toilet ran constantly and housekeeping never swept or mopped the floors. For our next visit to Tahoe, we will stay in Reno at either the Peppermill or Atlantis and drive up for the day as all the major hotels in Tahoe have terrible reviews. Just my opinion.

Yelp
Staff was amazing and the hotel ran like a well oiled machine all the way from the valet parking check-in, etc. Our room was spotless when we arrived. The price was very reasonable.

Yelp
Fast, easy check in. The room was spacious. Especially appreciated that my husband could get up in the morning, shut the bedroom door, make himself coffee and watched TV until I woke up. Bed was so comfy. The pillows are large and poofy - great for snuggling if you are a side sleeper. Room was clean. Valet is the only option. It's $35 a night but it makes it convenient to just pull up, unload and let them handle your car. The valets are SO FAST. You don't wait long for them to retrieve your car, which is great when you're headed out in the morning for a full day. The only drawback to not having a self park option is that it makes it a pain if you just want to pop back by the hotel for something before heading to your next adventure. I did not drop any stars for the parking, but it's something to be aware of. The location is perfect. Everything is walkable for evening meals/entertainment. There's even hiking within walking distance at Van Sickle Bi State Park. Meals: we only did breakfast there so I can speak to the cafe and the buffet. The cafe has great service and options. We got coffee, a breakfast sandwich, a bagel & cream cheese, and greek yogurt one morning. The buffet is pricey but has nice options so you can get bang for your buck. The only issue I had was that I love water and no one was refilling. They were quick to clear the tables around us, but no one asked if we wanted more water. This would be fine if there was a self serve option, but I couldn't find one? Don't miss the cappuccino machine! It's tucked away next to the hot chocolate and the vanilla capp was so yummy. There is something here for EVERYONE at this buffet so it's definitely worth it. The hours are great as well - for early risers and late breakfasters. Dropped one star because the shower pressure was awful. That was hugely disappointing. My husband said this is the only reason we might consider elsewhere for our next stay.

Yelp
Place wasn't good at all. They lied on the website about the TV being a smart TV. You could only watch live TV in Nevada. My wife doesn't even remember the experience that's how bad it was. Everything was super overpriced. You would've been better staying at a motel instead of this hotel it wasn't even that cute. Everything was so overpriced. You have to do mandatory valet parking cost $50 a night and they took a long time getting your car as well.

Yelp
Matt at the "License to Chill Bar", Was great. After a long drive and coming in super tired, he recommended great food and a great drink. Very pleasant to speak with. What a bartender should be.... When you go to Margaritaville, ask for Matt!

Yelp
UPDATE: I'm calling now and have been on the phone for over 20 minutes and it just keeps ringing?!? How can I resolve my issue if I cannot reach anyone?

Eric H.

Yelp
Double charged me for room and room was dirty and sticky floors. When I spoke to front about the double charge they hung up on me. Took a lot of work for me to get the money back. Really disappointed won't stay there again

Yelp
Located right next to the casinos, shopping and restaurants. Family: pet friendly hotel. 2nd time vacationing with the fam. But hubby & I used to visit even before the name change. They did a revamp and it looks great. They host movie nights in the pool but it's a tight space. Great value for the pricing. They did lack on cleanliness which I brought to their attention. Other than that we love staying here

Yelp
I stayed at this location last year when it was in the process of being renovated. In my return, I find every thing appears to be in good condition with minor signs of wear. I am going to say that the cost and the resort fee is excessive and generally speaking, I would search for alternative options However, the bed is decent, and the suite is clean with the overall aesthetic that is pleasing to the eye. One tip - The front desk did warn that they would automatically charge for valet service so look at your bill carefully and ask them to remove this charge if you did not park at the hotel. Addendum- so the gym is truly an afterthought and approximately the size of a walk-in closet. It gets crowded quickly and does not open until 6 although security will let you in early if you ask. ( when I questioned why it did not open earlier like other hotels, the comment was "we're not like any other place"... not the most friendly customer attitude)

Yelp
This is not a resort, and not a hotel that should be collecting outrageous resort fees. This is a glorified former Embassy Suites. On top of the resort fees of $57.10 per night, if you bring a pet (dog) expect to pay a (refundable) deposit of $75 per night and another $50 per night to let the pet stay. Oh, and valet parking is the only parking option...at an additional $35 per day. All said and done, 2 people, 1 dog is $217.10 per night before you even pay the nightly rate for your room plus additional taxes. This one is a hard pass for us and our travel group.

Yelp
I booked this resort over a month ago. I read their pet policy ON their website stating "Pets must weigh under 50lbs". I'm like great, this is awesome, especially since they are newly open and we were getting such a great rate!! Fast forward to today. I get an email like "hey your trip is coming up!" I see the pet policy list at the bottom of the email. It states "pets must weigh below 25 lbs". WTF - so I call, and of course I'm waiting 10 minutes to speak to someone. They confirm pets must weigh under 25 lbs. DO NOT be fooled by their website policy. They can't get their stuff together with communication. LOL. One area says 50lbs, and another 25lbs. Ya'll looking really bad. Now I have to cancel and look for another hotel that is pet friendly and probably pay SO MUCH more due to their lack of effectiveness.

Yelp
Unfortunately, Jimmy Buffett is dead and so is the guest service at this location!! Only positive....the view!

Yelp
A great place to get away from it all. The rooms are expansive and nice decor. The pool and jacuzzi are nice and indoor. Since parking is such a hassle in Tahoe, their valet parking takes away any problem. A must stay when in Tahoe. And for the gambler, Harrah's is right next door.

Yelp
We've stayed at Margaritaville many times, but this time, everything was fully open after the renovations. They did an excellent job with the rooms, and the redesigned outdoor pool patio is very relaxing. This place is beautiful and located in the heart of South Lake Tahoe.

Yelp
I always like visiting the bar at Margaritaville -- friendly bartenders and good happy hours. Today, we brought our dog. The bartenders were kind to give us a bowl. My dog barked once after hearing another dog bark and we quieted her down. I kept her on my lap for a moment, then put her down on the ground where she laid. About 30-40 min later after that bark, the manager came up to her and tried to pet her. Then he looks at me and my wife and says the dog has to stay on the ground (where she currently was). We said sure thing. Then he said also keep her quiet, no more barking. We said ok, and then he patronized us about the rules for 5 more min then tried to greet her again and said "you're so cute for such a troublemaker." I've had people ask me to take my dog out of establishments -- fine. I've had them ask me to keep her outside -- again, fine. But this manager was SO passive aggressive and intense, and his snide remarks felt so patronizing and unwelcoming. Is no one direct anymore? Not only that, but a big sign above the bar said happy hour til 6 and the bartender said those were the wrong hours. This place is going downhill and has crappy managers.

Yelp
The food was garbage! Service apologetic didn't know their menu and substituted entree items Without notification. Seafood is frozen not fresh.

Yelp
Our stay started off really promising. The room was nice and clean and the hotel has a very refreshing look compared to when it was the Lake Tahoe Resort. Through our stay the phone in the room didn't work and we had to walk to the front desk to get a hold of anyone.. I called with my cell phone, but was not able to get a hold of anyone. Other than that the hotel is located close enough to everything in the area with plenty of places to eat. Unfortunately on our last night, the valet crashed a vehicle into the front of my 2021 Ram 2500 causing $8,000+ damage to the front and rear bumper as well as grill. In my experience, an accident to a vehicle has never helped in maintaining the value of that vehicle. The manager was very apologetic and accepted full responsibility on behalf of the valet company. He also waived the parking fees for our stay ($90). When we got the news we had to end our dinner and then spend about an hour with the valet manager going over the process. Our kids were bored and to put it lightly it ruined the night as well as put a big negative outlook on what was shaping out to be a great trip. During check out my wife asked the front desk if there was anything they could do and the girl working shrugged her shoulders and quickly said "that company is separate from us." I understand we're only 1 customer in a big tourist area, but if I ran a business that is not the experience I would want to leave them with.

Yelp
Everyone was polite and welcoming. The decor is beautiful. I'm a huge Jimmy Buffett fan! The pool was a little cold and we ran out of toilet paper!
