Our server was Leah and she was fantastic! I intended to take photos of all the dishes. But we were so eager to eat them that it just didn’t happen. We had the calamari and the (cold) spring rolls. The calamari was so fresh. It didn’t come from a factory. It was created in this restaurant. The spring rolls were delicious. They are the healthy version of spring rolls so don’t get them if you are looking for the greasy version. They are perfection. I had the shrimp, scallops and crab on root vegetables. I don’t have the words to describe how deliciousness of this dish. I only want to recreate it at home. We had a lovely time and want to come back as soon as possible!

Google
Service here was phenomenal! They were so attentive. The menu offers unique meats and dishes. We loved both entrees!! Even if you’re not a big red meat person, the menu has so much to offer you won’t be left without a solid dish.

Google
Margaux’s Restaurant in Raleigh gave us a night to remember, mostly because the food was fabulous and the people were even better! We went for a financial advisor free dinner and stayed because every bite was worth it. Bill and Sara were absolute pros, warm, attentive, and somehow perfectly timed every visit to the table without ever hovering. The crowd around us was genuinely enjoyable, which made the whole night feel relaxed and social. Now, the presentation itself was… let’s call it light on excitement, but thankfully the food and service did all the heavy lifting. Think of it as sitting through a mildly forgettable story and being rewarded with an excellent meal and great company. We left full, happy, and already talking about coming back, preferably for the food alone next time!

Finally made it to this long time favorite in Raleigh and it did not disappoint. The food was magnificent and the service was flawless. Highly recommend the Crème Brûlée. I did the prix fixe menu which is described as “lighter fare” but I could barely finish it. I consider it a very hearty meal and the Teres Major was grilled to perfection. Excellent value.

This place is amazing. I had a great experience. There service was above and beyond. Food was good. No complain at all. Staffs were extremely knowledgeable with there food. I had everything they recommended and was really good. Thank you for a good food recommendation. Will be back for more!

Google
This was a fun place to go for a date night. The food was really tasty. Overall would recommend for a fun occasion. That being said I typically only write reviews when I have something positive to say but we just had an odd experience that I wanted to share so others are aware because we were not. We did get charged for soft drink refills and were not told they would cost money. The soda itself was 4.50 and then we got charged .50 for a refill. Granted, we drank more than two sodas but it would have been nice if our waitress had told us we would be charged for that or their policy on refills. Also, the refills were not brought in new cups, the waitress would just top off my cup so I’m not sure how they were quantifying what to charge for the refill. It just felt very cheap for an upscale place to charge extra on sodas when the soda was already almost 5$ We spent 120$ on dinner for two, so it is not the money I’m concerned about, but just felt odd considering we were not being cheap or taking advantage of the refills.

I’ve dined at Margaux’s several times in the past and always had a fantastic experience, so I was surprised by my most recent visit. I ordered the duckling with mashed sweet potatoes and vegetables. The mashed sweet potatoes were delicious, but unfortunately the rest of the dish fell flat — the vegetables were bland and the duck was tough and difficult to chew. That said, the drinks were exceptional and the customer service was top-notch, as always. While this was my first disappointing meal here, I’m hoping it was just an off night, because Margaux’s has been one of my Raleigh favorites for years.

Google
4 Had a nice bday celebration here Reservations are recommended We got the prefix which was good Apparently you can swap a dessert for an appetizer, which I wish I did. The food was good but the dessert not the best, a little frozen and too sweet. The desserts took more time than the food to come out which was odd ,considering they were still frozen and prepared Cute eclectic spot Scallops were well cooked Nice art Just slow at the end

Yelp
I've been coming to Margaux since I was a kid, but it wasn't until I got older that I truly began to appreciate just how special this place is. The decor is vibrant, whimsical, and incredibly inviting. It sets the perfect tone for a memorable dining experience. The food is always fresh, and the menu changes daily, which keeps things exciting. You can go with a timeless favorite like the Steak with Roquefort or the profiteroles, or branch out and try something more adventurous, like the swordfish. I highly recommend coming with friends so you can share and sample a variety of dishes, it's part of the fun! The hosts and servers are consistently warm and attentive, and they go out of their way to ensure we always have a great time. If I had one small suggestion, it would be to add some cushions or more comfortable seating around the dinner tables. The chairs are rock hard. Just a little touch that could make an already great experience even better!

Yelp
What we had... Prix-Fix 1: Chicken Kimchi Potstickers Roasted Shrimp with Penne pasta Oatmeal cookie sandwich with ice cream Prix-Fix 2: Caesar salad Pan Seared Scallops Margaux's Crème brûlée We wanted to try a different restaurant in Raleigh so we checked Yelp and noticed Margaux's. The restaurant is tucked away in the back of Brennan Station on Creedmoor Road. My wife and I visited there on a Saturday evening. The parking can be tight in that area, but was not too bad when we went. We arrived for our 6:30 reservation. I would recommend placing a reservation on weekends as there was a lot of people coming in after we were seated. However, now I understand why so many people dine there. The atmosphere is very nice. I would say the atmosphere is casual New Orleans. Our waiter was prompt and did a great job explaining any dish we had questions about. For the food, the potstickers were great. Two large potstickers, fried well, not only. The tang of the kimchi was a great addition to the flavor. The side salad was fresh and the sweet chili sauce was a must-have to put in the potstickers. The roasted shrimp with penne was very good too. Fresh is the best word I can give for the entre. Everything had a light taste, the shrimp was cooked perfectly and the tomato based sauce would be good on just about anything, so much flavor! The only thing I would have wanted was some additional shrimp. The entree came with only four shrimp. No complaints about the taste, but I think it dish should have included a few more. The oatmeal cookie desert was a surprise. I asked our waitress beforehand about it and she thought I might like so I tried it....Good choice! It reminds me of an upscaled oatmeal cookie sandwich. The cookie was rich, the filling was not too sweet. The raspberry sauce on top was perfect to cut through the richness of the cookie. The sandwich sat on what looked like whipped cream, but was actually softened ice cream. Last, there was a caramel sauce under everything that just brought everything together nicely. The desert is rich and heavy, but so good. My wife's Caesar salad, she mentioned it had a great taste, the dressing was especially memorable, fresh, light and full of flavor. The pan seared scallops were tender and sweet, just as they should be. The broccoli cooked well, still having a dark green color and retained a nice bite, not mushy. The mango chili sauce added a lot of flavor to the dish. The menu showed green beans as one of the sides, but I believe they may not have had any when we visited, so broccoli was substituted. There were no objections! Again, the only complaint from my wife was that there were only three scallops on the plate, one more would have been welcomed. Not an issue, just being picky! For desert, she had the crème brûlée. She loved it! The custard was very creamy, not too sweet and the caramelized sugar top was golden brown and brittle as expected. The combination of those flavors worked well together. Overall, we had a very fine dinner that night. The atmosphere was relaxed, staff personable and attentive. It was our anniversary and our waitress gave us a hand written card congratulating us on our celebration and many more. We'll definitely return, most likely with a few more people in tow!

Yelp
Prices of soft drinks and credit card fees. Pathetic to spend 300 bucks and get nickel and dimed

Yelp
Last minute booking for a Saturday night out. Prior to coming I checked out the menu and saw the three course offering. The Caesar salad was good and a great start the courses. A mixture of breads consisting of corn bread, a baguette and rye bread came after ordering. Great light paring with the salad and entree. Next was the salmon on a bed of mashed potatoes and green beans. The salmon was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. This was one of my top salmon dishes I've had when considering the presentation, flavor and temperature of the salmon. Lastly, I paired my meal with a key lime pie. A suitable portion to share a few bites. This was a lovely night out with a great pairing of courses.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised upon walking in. Not what I was expecting with a funky decor and vibe with above average menu and choices. Loved it and looking forward to going back. Cocktail crafted well.

Muna D.

Yelp
ordered the angel hair pasta with tomato sauce and shrimp. Unfortunately, the shrimp was overcooked, the pasta was mushy, and the portion was overwhelming. The sauce tasted overly sweet, like something from a cheap jar. On top of that, the staff started cleaning while I was still eating, which made the whole experience uncomfortable. Definitely disappointing.

Yelp
Not as worthy as their exorbitant prices. Good experience overall but I felt robbed. Won't go again.

Yelp
We came for a birthday celebration. As we walked up to the host desk we were welcomed with friendly young faces. The ambiance was very early 1900s. Seemed like a place you'd find fresh hunted meats! Although every thing was thrown off as i noticed the hostesses were wearing short flowery dresses that made them look like a guests daughter. I would encourage every one wear something that truly represents what you are going for. I ordered a Virgin mojito, my husband ordered an ol fashioned. My drink was very tart and sour. First course we decided to try the raw oysters, wagu appetizer, and French onion. All was good. The wagu app was a little odd, hard to pick up. Just seemed chaotic on the plate. It's meant for sharing, but that was difficult. For Entrees, we tried the peppercorn duck, filet of 1992, scallops n lobster. The duck was kind of tough and hard to eat. The sides were really underwhelming. I had a "potatoe anna" some hard veggie medley with no seasoning, little thought. The filet was perfect, but again underwhelming sides. The scallops were tender and very tasty. Overall i would work on what you're going for as a restaurant, and providing the most excellent compliments to your entrée to really help every thing come together

Yelp
This is a Raleigh gem, with great ambiance, experienced wait staff and excellent french inspired cuisine. Dinner is wonderful, but the happy hour, with small plate offerings are my personal favorite. Bring your honey.

Yelp
This was our second time coming to this restaurant. We got seated in the exact same spot right next to the open kitchen with people walking in and out right next to us and lots of kitchen noises ( one of the worst seats in the entire restaurant) versus being seated a few empty tables over in front of the very lovely large fish tank or other side of the restaurant with plenty of seat availability. I ordered the espresso martini and it tasted off like citrusy which made it taste bitter come to find out there was a lemon rind in my drink but did not see it because it was hidden under the foam at the top of the drink. The complementary bread was not a mixed variety this time but only some french bread and sweet corn bread both tasted great. Our appetizers were fantastic very flavorful, my steak was tough even on a medium cooking. The meat was not allowed to settle before serving, so two slices in all the blood drained from it and filled the plate, dessert was advertised as a chocolate raspberry layer cake but was a two layer chocolate cake with some whip on top and a squiggle of raspberry sauce on top of the whipped cream. The waiter was very attentive and did an excellent job.

Yelp
I took a risk trying a new restaurant on New Year's Eve and was so happy that I did. We looked for a place with a new years menu and loved what Margaux had to offer. They were fully booked but we came anyways and everyone at the front (hostess, servers, manager) were so nice and accommodating and luckily found us a table that happened to be empty at the upper level next to the bar. The restaurant was really nice and lively inside and there was a wonderful jazz duo playing all night that made the ambience even better. Multiple people checked on us all night and there was always someone to refill a drink or take/bring a plate. 10/10 service. The food!!!! WAS AMAZING!!!! I honestly don't have many nice dinner restaurants that I consider extremely well-rounded but every course of this dinner was so good that we've been planning the next time we'll be back for their regular menu. The new years 3-course dinner was completely worth $110 per person and there were so many good options it was hard to choose. First course: We both got lobster cakes. They were so good. From the butter sauce on the plate, the potato salad underneath the cake, the cake itself, and the crab on top. 10/10. Second course: Grilled filet of beef over mashed potatoes with lobster nuggets and asparagus. This dish was fantastic. I would get this any day. It was the perfect plate. My partner got the lobster tail with clams and fettuccine. The lobster was great and the fettuccine was good to me but he preferred it to be a bit more creamy. Third course: Brown sugar blondie tart with caramel apples and cherry gingersnap cheesecake. They both were so good and flavorful but we were so full at this point. We also got a couple of drinks that were great as well which was a plus. Our whole experience here was great and this has definitely been added to my top places list.

Yelp
We visited for a birthday celebration and opted for the pre-fixed menu on a Monday. We thoroughly enjoyed the steak kebab starters, and the prosciutto peaches were delightful. The salads were also very good. While the entrees were enjoyable, we felt they could have been a bit more memorable; particularly, the pork chop seemed a bit on the salty side. However, we found the desserts to be delicious, especially the vanilla cheesecake, which we loved. The service was attentive, but we did experience a longer wait for our credit card back when we were ready to leave. Additionally, we noticed that the staff began to hand us a hot plate without mentioning its temperature, which led to a minor burn on our finger. It was nice to see the other runners were quick to remind us afterward. The decorations were quite quirky, although we felt the lack of cohesion affected the overall ambiance a bit.

Lawrence M.

Yelp
Yikes! Must have picked a night when the chef / cooks didn't show and the bar help had to fill in. Seriously, the service, appetizers and deserts were very good except I could have packed my key lime pie into a shot glass. Now, the entrees that we come to an "upscale" dining experience for. My wife had three scallops, dry rice and partially cooked broccoli. I had four small shrimp in very watery and tasteless marinara sauce. It was more of a broth than a sauce. Oh well, what did we expect for $100 +.

Yelp
This is one of Raleigh's best restaurants, and has been for a long time. I know every year new restaurants pop up and get all the press, but Margaux's has remained a very solid 5-star restaurant for something like 30 years. And I think it is all with the same owner. On this last visit we sat at the bar and had a Charcuterie tray, Oysters, and drinks. The bartenders are great and the service at the bar is excellent. The Charcuterie was generous and of course genuine Italian meats like Speck, Pancetta, Prosciutto etc. along with a selection of high end cheeses and fresh bread. It was all so good. Mianly, go her for the great atmosphere and genuine friendliness that Margaux's has offere for a long time.

Yelp
My wife and I have eaten here a handful of times. We enjoy the close proximity to where we live, and the food is always really really good. This visit was no exception. Stephanie was our waitress. She was awesome. Upbeat and full of great recommendations, especially as it was my wife's birthday. The martinis were amazing. That gin martini was to die for. Cesar salads. Perfect. My filet steak was spot on, my wife's salmon perfectly cooked. The chocolate mousse was amazing. I think you see a trend here? Highly recommended

GaryLisa C.

Yelp
Just wow! The food was delicious, the service was outstanding. The ambiance was inviting. I was there with a large party and the restaurant navigated the party with exception. I will be back.

Yelp
I've been wanting to come here for quite some time and made reservations for their Monday evening special which includes a three course meal for 28.95! They have a prix fixe menu with several choices. I ordered the Caesar salad, salmon with mashed potatoes and snap peas, and chocolate mousse. I also ordered the French onion soup because I just had to try it. Unbeknownst to me, they also serve a delicious bread basket that include corn bread and a loaf of another bread which was amazing. I was very very impressed with the corn bread. The Caesar salad was okay, and the French onion soup was great. By the time my salmon came out, I was already pretty full so only ate a few bites and had the rest for lunch the next day. Had to save room for the dark chocolate mousse which was a generous size and very filling. The table also had an order of truffle fries which were good and I trie fine peanut butter cake and bread pudding - both EXCELLENT. I couldn't pick a favorite dessert out of the three we had at our table, all excellent in their own ways. I will definitely make it a priority to return for another Monday Mahem!

Yelp
Excellent food quality and flavor. The value for the meal is reasonable. Service it's always good and on point. The restaurant looks good , clean and nice decor.

Yelp
Came here for a friend's birthday dinner after hearing many great things over the years. Thankfully, it lived up to the hype. When you walk in, the ambiance feels pretty high-end and luxe. The perfect place for a celebration. There were about 15 of us seated at one huge table that they had reserved. Despite the part, the server was terrific, made thoughtful suggestions and did an excellent job keeping up with everyone's order. I ordered the salmon, which was delicious. Perfectly cooked, well seasoned, great plating and accompaniments. It was a wonderful experience. I look forward to trying it again in the future.

Yelp
For starters, our waitress Mandy was fantastic. This review is in no way a reflection of her service. We went on a Saturday evening and it was packed, but that didn't affect her performance at all. The ambiance is interesting. The prices reflect a more upscale restaurant, but the setting is very casual. I've never been to a place quite like that. It almost makes you feel like you're at a sports bar because of how loud it was. Nothing wrong with that - it was just different. Finally, the food. This was where we were disappointed. We shared the calamari appetizer. I had the brace of quail stuffed with dirty rice on top of broccoli. Hubby had the garum spiced chicken breast. The only things that felt even remotely seasoned were the dirty rice and the chicken breast (this was actually very tasty). The vegetables were your typically steamed veggies with no seasoning. The quail was very plain, redeemed only by the creole sauce that came on top. We wanted so badly to like this place, but I doubt we'll be back.

Yelp
94.5 health grade posted the night of our visit. The bar service was great and friendly. The table service was average. The menu offered interesting and unique dishes. Our food was average with orders of Heritage Pork Loin / cranberries; Chicken; and Peppercorn crusted steak. The steak was the most appreciated dish. Our appetizers were good to include dip / won ton chips; spring rolls and a special latke. The desserts were fine with the hot fudge sundae being a disappointment. We are glad we visited but we will likely not return for a while.

Yelp
We eat at Margeaux at least 6 times a year. We brought our adult kids to start a Christmas/New year tradition. Well, it was very disappointing. First, our waitress was not nice at all. She must have been having a bad night. She was not very attentive and was slow. Our reservation was at 6:15 and we ordered our food by 6:30. The appetizers came out quickly and we very good. At 7:40 I asked the waitress where our food was. She didn't seem to know much about it and said she would ask. The food came out 5 minutes later. Nobody apologized! The waitress made some excuse about it being busy. I have been there many times when it was much busier. The food was ok not great. I ordered my steak medium rare and it was cooked that way. My daughter ordered her steak medium but it came out medium rare. This is the first time we have had a problem here so we will try it again but for a $300+ bill we should have received an apology.

Yelp
What a cool spot! Lots to look at here...love the decor! And the menu changes EVERY DAY. Decided to visit for my birthday dinner. It was disappointing to find out they close so early at 9pm (on a Friday!) but glad we got the little time we did here. Food was top notch and so different than what you'd see on a normal American menu. Cocktails were great. Was sad I didn't get any little dessert or celebration of any kind for my birthday dinner but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I could tell wait staff was ready to go home. Lol. Overall, I'd definitely visit again.

Shayal V.

Yelp
Margaux's is definitely a fine dining experience and it certainly stands out from standard restaurants. The food was great, it just didn't necessarily exceed expectations for how nice the place is. The spiced fries were not as good as the spanakopita dip with the fried artichokes (that was great). The swordfish was cooked very well and the corn was delicious. Sweet potatoes on the side were the right tenderness. The halibut was also great. Our server was fantastic and super accommodating.
google avatar

Matt B.

Yelp
Service from Heather was top notch-she answered all of our myriad questions about the menu and she was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The ambiance was very warm and pleasant. They had a Christmas theme going on and a fireplace going so what more could you ask for. I brought my GF here for her birthday and it did not disappoint. The food was phenomenal. I had the short rib and she had the salmon and we both thought they were fantastic. We had some good wine to pair with the meal and the dessert (butter cake) was to die for. I highly recommend this spot!

Yelp
Margaux's Restaurant is a great place to dine and has been a Raleigh staple for years. On Monday's they have a prix fixe menu special all night instead of the early bird hours. It is three courses for $26.95 so a very good deal for an appetizer; entree and desert. I had the Caesar salad; steak and tres leches cake. I was disappointed in the quality of the meat. I know meat prices have risen but it was fatty and tough to cut. I wouldn't order the steak special again but the salad was great and the cake was so good. The bread basket was great with Italian bread and cornbread. Service was good as well especially as there was an issue with the computer system and processing payments.

Yelp
Made reservations for 3 at 5 on on a Saturday. We were seated promptly and the service was great! For the first time my husband and I had very different opinions on the food. I will share both and you can do what you want with them We ordered the Mrs. Klause (sushi appetizer, had smoked salmon, cream cheese, with spicy Mayo) for starters. For dinner, I ordered the Caesar Salad (half size), moscato, and a filet while he ordered the same entree but with an old fashion to drink. My experience: I thought the food was really good and I would go back. The steak had a really nice flavor and was juicy. I will admit the vegetables were a little bland (no butter, garlic, etc) and the potato was pretty good as well. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of were the steamed veggies. His experience: he didn't like the potatoes or the vegetables and said he probably wouldn't go back. He's had better for this price point and would chose Perry's before coming back here. So there you have it, it's of our takes on the same dishes. I would say at least go once, form your own opinion. The food is good and the atmosphere is great!

Yelp
We came here to celebrate an anniversary. Have heard about Margaux's but haven't tried yet. It's a fun and trendy place filled with very eclectic decor with a pub like atmosphere. Where else would you find a knight in shining armor, buddha, Chihuly-like glasswork and assorted stuffed animals all in one restaurant? Service was excellent. Our server was very attentive and amazed me with her ability to memorize our orders without taking notes. Food and drink - They have a full bar and expensive wine list. My elderflowertini was very good. The food is excellent and very generous servings. Because the menu changes daily, I forgot what the exact names of the dishes were. Panko crusted tempura tuna with a Asian style guacamole was excellent & very generous for a starter. We shared a Caesar salad. My grilled salmon dish was very good as well as was my husband's pecan pesto crusted grouper. All the portions were very generous so much that we ended up taking most of our entrees home. I really wanted to try the desserts that I saw passing by but I'll save it for my next visit.

Yelp
Great service, food and atmosphere. We will go back to this fine establishment for sure. 5 stars all the way!

Amanda K.

Yelp
We rented the Rotisserie Room for our small 14 person wedding and everything was so wonderful. The food was fantastic and all of our family was very pleased with the service as well. I have a gluten allergy and they really catered to me. We will definitely be making this our yearly anniversary place!

Elizabeth A.

Yelp
Fantastic food and wonderful service all packaged up in a beautiful atmosphere. Loved our special night!!

Yelp
First time dining at Margaux's. Pricing was fine dining level yet the restaurant is more like a pub. Some white tablecloths and some noise dampening materials would enhance the experience. Our server, Mandy, was top notch. If you go, ask for her. The food was was very flavor packed. It just didn't match the pricing in portion size. We did the 3 course dinner. Both appetizers were outstanding. The fried wontons and the beef skewers were our choices. The main course were lacking. The teres major was overcooked and small. The shrimp and pasta had 4 shrimp for a large bowl of bowtie pasta. The desserts were key lime pie and french vanilla cheesecake. The pie was not as good as Cape Fear's. The cheesecake was dense and was about 2 inches square. I couldn't taste any vanilla. Margaux's doesn't have a water filter nd city water is the pits. My steak was well done in most places. I asked for another beef skewers app to go since they were very good. The manger came by and left it on the table without a word. Very poor on his part. Some little details would make this place a much better dining experience.

Yelp
Date night! I ordered rack of lamb for the first time and it was good. Service was great. Dressed up and felt a little over dressed, so I wouldn't say to get too fancy. Lots of gourmet food options!

Ernest C.

Yelp
I don't say this often but the experience here was amazing. Food perfect, service perfect and I was blown away by the decor of the restaurant. My friends and I went with the 3-course meal and we couldn't be happier and our waiter was always friendly and attentive. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone.

Yelp
I went on a Monday and snagged the prie fix menu and got the herb grilled steak, tempura fried tuna roll and dark chocolate mousse, and also got the crab cakes & shrimp app as well. When I arrived, I had to call out to a staff to get seated. The fried tuna roll was kind of bland but still tasty. The herb grilled steak portion size was humongous. The mashed potatoes and the steak were seasoned well and great! However the steak wasn't that good quality. Though I was reassured the dark mousse wasn't that sugary , it was and I couldn't eat much of it. The crab cakes and the shrimps were good. The wait staff was friendly but they seemed either over staffed and/or under trained.

Joan T.

Yelp
My food came out in a beautiful presentation with a super hot plate, but my food was cold. I let the waiter know and he took it to the back and when it came back the food was no longer in the nice presentation but taken apart and the sauce was on the side. I couldn't believe They gave me the same plate of food and it was cold again with a super hot plate. I was in shock. It was my first time and I was so disappointed. I felt like if they would have given me a new plate of food with the same presentation I would have been ok but it felt sloppy like they don't care very much. That isn't the way you take care of customers. It was not a good impression at all.

Yelp
The service is excellent! Our waitress Mandy was very knowledgeable from the the history to the dishes served for the day. We were there to celebrate our 26th anniversary. It would have been nice to have a more exclusive romantic seating area. It is pretty loud and open though out. Pricing the for food is a bit pricey but definitely worth it! The wine menu is ok however, prices for a $15 bottle of wine was well over $40. My suggestions are to 1) have a small area for more quiet romantic celebrations. 2) wine prices.

Yelp
We came on a night they had a relief program for western NC and had live entertainment. The noise level was energetic. Food was delicious and the early bird special is a bargain. Service was exceptional. We had not been here in some time but we'll be back soon. An enjoyable evening.

Yelp
Margaux's is a classic Raleigh restaurant for a good meal. Wine list is extensive. My family likes to order the prix fixe menu which includes appetizer/salad, entree and dessert for $26.95. I am gluten free so don't usually order desserts at restaurants. I chose the delicious grilled mahi served over green beans, sun dried tomatoes and hummus which was on the regular menu. Only negative is that there are very few vegetarian options on the menu so it is not my vegetarian daughter's favorite place to go.

Yelp
I'm giving this restaurant three stars based off the food we ordered . Waiter: When you go definitely ask for Stephanie! She definitely gets 5 stars! She was great, personable, friendly, vibrant, and on top of everything. Atmosphere: cozy and eclectic Drinks: Strawberry margarita w/ casamigos reposado : too sweet and too much syrup mixture. Wine: Bordeaux : not sure the name but it was the only one! It was full of body! Appetizer: Love potion #9 (sushi) it was okay ! The rolls were on the smaller side but they had flavor. French onion soup : so delicious! Not a traditional French onion but would order again and again! Very flavorful and rich! Entree : Tomahawk for 2 w/ two lobster tails Three of us shared this ! First let's start of with the lobster tails ! Oh my goshhhhh so amazing ! I would get them again and again and again! So flavorful , juicy, and seasoned very well! The steak was just okay! I was slightly disappointed in the flavor of the steak. But it was made to order (medium) and was brought out medium!! which was a plus! Potatoes were amazing! Dessert : Key lime pie was to die for ! Salted Caramel cheesecake was good and sweet!

Yelp
It has been way too long since we've been to this North Raleigh gem. Have always loved that their menu changes seasonally and is varied, and have taken advantage of and appreciated their early bird weekday specials. Thankfully a private event brought us in to reintroduce us to outstanding service and food. I don't know I've been to a private party at a restaurant where everything was so perfect. Stephanie and Trey took excellent care of us from drinks and appetizers to dessert. Their service was so professional in the most charming, fun, welcoming way! If these two hate their jobs you would never know it. From the way they poured wine, to describing the menu and folding napkins when you went to the private restrooms, it was all done in a non-stuffy way to make you feel like the most welcome guest ever. Now let's talk food: Loved that they aren't afraid of spice! The cocktail sauce for the perfectly cooked shrimp had a nice kick. Prosciutto wrapped Scallops had a good sauce with it, as did the tasty spring rolls, and oh my! the little pastry shells of crab salad were so full of flavor. For the sit-down dinner we had our salad and soup choices. My caesar was good but could have used some Parmesan and less croutons. For my entree I had a phenomenal Cornmeal Crusted Grouper with Hoppin'John, mashed red bliss, local collards and house hot sauce. Oh so good! In the past my experience with black-eyed peas has not been a flavorful one, but here it had so much flavor, as did every other element on the plate. Everyone else was happy with their entrees as well. Most got the filet with gorgonzola, and it was a perfect medium rare. Dessert was just as good: Profiteroles, Bailey's Cheesecake or Key Lime Pie. All excellent. Highly recommend whether it's a special occasion, private event, or taking advantage of one of their weekday specials!

Yelp
We came here for restaurant week, otherwise I don't know if we would've driven all the way out here from Clayton. Anyway, it was a 3 course meal option. I chose the fried green tomato, salmon, and brownie for dessert. My husband got the shrimp pasta, but all the rest of the same. The bread was really good, and they were forth coming with it. I will say, I'm not a big salmon eater and I really enjoyed their salmon. It had no fishy taste at all. The appetizer and desserts were good. One problem... they brought my husband food and it had a rock in it. He could've cracked a tooth. Although they were apologetic, you don't go to eat to hope to break your teeth. How does a rock even end up in a pasta dish?!

Yelp
Margaux's is consistently great. This was a pre-valentine's day dinner and they did not disappoint. Our server had good suggestions. The appetizers were good as was the food and drinks. I had the French onion soup, mahi mahi and a couple of margaritas. Always a pleasant experience at Margaux's.

Yelp
The selection is varied and plentiful but not too much. It is prepared with care and quite tasty. The service was a bit slow for a night with few customers, although we were seated outside. The ambiance is French/American and is quiet and peaceful, no crowds or bright lights here. It is my favorite restaurant in Raleigh!

Yelp
I dined here with a few friends from work. I was excited to see the menu had an early bird special that consisted of a three course meal. I don't typically eat dessert when I dine out, so I was pleased to see that the third course was a dessert that I could indulge in as a treat for myself. complimentary bread was served to the table, which had a variety of different breads to choose from. The bread was decent, not spectacular, but I was rather hungry so I ate it up! We also ordered a couple of orders of brussel sprouts and charcuterie to share, both appetizers were pretty tasty. I ordered the three courses and selected a Caesar salad, sirloin steak with mashed potatoes and key lime pie. The only complaint that I have is that the sirloin steak was a bit tough. The waitress stated that the steak was served medium-rare; however, I asked to have it cooked to medium because medium-rare is a bit too undercooked for my liking. Sirloin isn't the most tender cut by any means, but I have had sirloin steak much less tough than what was served to me at this restaurant. The flavor of the steak and other foods were good, but the steak quality was less than optimal. I would dine here again, but, I would likely not order the sirloin steak due to the quality. Overall the dining experience was pleasant, the waitress was witty and did a great job. I would recommend this restaurant for a nice meal with friends.

Yelp
What a wonderful dining experience! My husband and I decided last minute to try Margaux's for our anniversary. The outdoor seating area in front of the entrance was very lively yet had an intimate feel. Inside the restaurant, the decor is very eclectic (they are putting out their Halloween decor as well!) and the lighting is dim. The ambiance is very relaxed but there's an upscale elegance about it...it just felt so right. Our server, Stephani, was delightful and so helpful. We started with the fried calamari, which was fried just right and had two of the most complimentary sauces ever. We both ordered the 3-course prix fixe, starting with crab cake and fried shrimp. The way they fry food is absolutely amazing, and the crab cake was full of crab and not filler. For our main course, I ordered the sauté shrimp with ziti and my hubby the sauté scallop with mango chutney. The shrimp tasted so fresh, but overall the ziti was not for me. My husband loved and devoured his dish, and wanted to send his compliments to the chef! Our desserts came out with a candle to celebrate our anniversary. Overall, we had a great time and can't wait to come back. The price point is higher than your average restaurant, but you're paying for amazing food and a great atmosphere. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
My wife and I came on a Wednesday evening at around 5:30, because we had heard their Prix Fixe Menu was only $25 before 6:30pm on weekdays. We weren't disappointed! I started with their Wino Wednesday deal, which paired a wine with some cheeses. I'm not a wine connoisseur, but I appreciated the sav blanc, and the cheeses were excellent. Here's what we ordered from the Prix Fixe Menu: First Course: I ordered the Crab Cake with cabbage slaw, which I really enjoyed. The flavors in the crab cake were spot-on, and paired well with the creamy slaw. I was wavering between the fried shrimp and the crab cake, but our waiter ended up letting me try both, which I appreciated. My wife got the Tempura Tuna Scallion Roll, which was simple, but tasty. I personally preferred the crab cake and fried shrimp over the tuna roll, though. Second Course: I ordered the Sirloin Steak with blue cheese over mashed potatoes. The meat was just a tad chewy around the edges, but the center was cooked perfectly, and the flavors were superb. Naturally, I ate it all. My wife ordered the Grilled Salmon with beurre blanc over mashed potatoes and zucchini. The salmon was also cooked perfectly with good flavor, and it was also a delicious dish. Third Course: I ordered the Key Lime Pie, and I loved that the crust was thick. I was so full that I could only eat half of it, but I definitely packaged the rest of it to take home and enjoy later. My wife tried the Creme Brulee, which was awesome. I'd highly recommend it, and kind of wish I ordered it myself. Just the right combination of sugary crust on top with vanilla custard underneath. Our service was top-notch, quick, and attentive. The weather was nice outside, so we got to enjoy some outdoor seating. I enjoyed the ambiance, and definitely plan to come back.

Yelp
I highly recommend Margaux's Restaurant to anyone wanting a great meal at moderate cost. The interior design and scenery inside Margaux's is unique and eclectic with lots of art that keeps you interested, commenting, and looking around throughout the meal. The service was excellent and our waitress knew all of the details about the menu, but she wasn't annoying about it. The waitress also had a great ratio of checking on us versus letting us eat/enjoy ourselves. The food was incredible, we ordered the Brussels sprouts, spinach salad, and Thai coconut soup, which were all really tasty and had perfect portion sizes. For the main course, we ordered the Yellowfin Tuna and Asado Chicken; both were large portions, delivered as ordered, and tasted great. I'd love to have the tuna again, it was cooked to perfection. I would definitely return to Margaux's as the menu changes daily/weekly. The total cost for drinks/food/tip was very reasonable and valued appropriately when compared to the food quality the restaurant delivered.
